This is a great place to bring your computer and work for a few hours. The drinks are delicious (I had an iced bhakti chai and my bf had an iced decaf latte), the treats are yummy, and the staff & customers are friendly. New Moon has their own free Wi-Fi, which is strong (unlike the Nederland Wi-Fi). It did start to get a little warm by noonish, as they keep their doors open and it was 90+ degrees today. Lots of patio seating (under colorful rainbow umbrellas), which we'll probably take advantage of once it cools down a bit.

I was totally disappointed. Half of the menu was not available, no crepes, bagels and, only Panini, that is a lunch item not breakfast. Unless you wanted the pastries you can get any where on the planet, I had the Italian Panini, no meat at all just tomato pesto sauce and feta cheese, not very filling for breakfast at all. I only give it two stars because they allowed our puppy to sit on the patio with us while we ate.

Stopped in on a whim this last weekend while on the road and had probably the best chai I have EVER had. The honey bread was also amazing. I highly recommend this place and hope to get back there again!

I may have become a chai snob since this last review, but I found it to be overly sweet the last few visits. Maybe they changed concentrates? The gluten-free bakery is still delicious, but a $3 per cookie habit is hard to sustain. I still like visiting here when I need some space, or am driving along the Peak-to-Peak highway!

Great coffee, service and place to sit back relax and enjoy the view over the pretty flowers atop the beautiful rock fence. Thoroughly recommend it .. worth the drive up the mountains and today we drove via Gold Hill just for a change - never disappointed.

This is one of the best bakeries I've eaten at. The croissants are light and buttery. The muffins are rich and satisfying. The crepes are delicious. The cookies and cakes are scrumptious! The coffee and espresso is divine. Also, this place is really clean, even during mud season. This is a small place, so Saturday and Sunday morning, be prepared to be bumped a little. It probably seats 20 inside, and on nice days, 10 on the patio. Monique and Peter and their staff are awesome, and obviously care about their customers and product. This place is a true gem in Nederland! Did I mention they have free WiFI?

I'm not sure which I like better about New Moon, the location or the shop itself. First, it's super convenient. Literally on the peak to peak highway up in Nederland, it's hard to work or play in the front range without driving by it at least occasionally. But New Moon would be just as good anywhere. While I am no expert on Colorado bakeries, their baked goods are among the best I can recall in the state. In terms of quality, it would be totally comfortable going toe-to-toe with any big-city hipster coffee shop. But it has a slower pace that doubles the enjoyment of being in the cozy little place. The service is very friendly--not at all pushy when I need a minute to soak in the wonderful options--and they guided me to something delicious I had not had before. The coffee is good, there are free newspapers to read, and it's a great place to stop and recharge on your way to/from just about anything. If you're at the point where you're reading reviews of this place to decide whether or not you should go, stop. You should.

This is my favorite place to start the day. Quality coffee, espresso and freshly baked goods. Friendly servers. Casual indoor and outdoor seating.

I live fairly close to this cafe and I won't go anywhere else for my morning cup. Their monkey bread is ridiculously good, as well. The service is always very friendly!

I live in Boulder, and this place has changed my life. First, the jalapeno cheese soft pretzel was as close to god as I've ever come. Secondly, the dude making our groups breakfast sandwiches is some sort of wizard. Only magic could produce such awesome bagel creations. Third, the coffee and espresso is on point. The dude making these was also my cashier so I think he is a wizard of some sorts also. Fourth, there was a lady working there that was super nice. She might be the head wizard or some sort of enchantress. Fifth, THE CINNAMON ROLLS. These brought me even closer to the celestial heavens. Sixth, I bought an apple turnover for the next morning. It was like a sunrise and electronic music festival all in one. Seventh, go to this place. Travel into this place and experience its epicness. Overall, a delightful little spot with amazing / magical staff. The food is perfect and they have a unique and fun selection to shop from. Coffee and espresso drinks are on point as well.

Lovely little bakery to stop at before or after a Nederland hike. I am so glad to have ordered the tomato pesto mozzarella croissant, it is THE best croissant I have ever had - delightfully buttery, pesto-y and soft. I additionally tried their warm apple cider (which is excellent without being overly sweet) and the chocolate chip banana bread (guilty pleasure that has just the right degree of moistness). Also on the menu are vegan free options for banana bread and carrot cake. The decor is nice and unusual - kind of offbeat with interesting art pieces adorning the walls. The have a huge kitchen where most of their items are baked - that way you can be sure what you order is fresh. However, as you may have gleaned from the Yelp reviews, this place is popular! Arrive before 11AM or you may find that all your favorite eats are sold out.

Recommended as the best coffee in Ned. The coffee and food was good. I wish I had more time to visit. Nice outdoor seating to watch the people go by.

We rented a place in Nederland for the week and found this place the first day when looking for a coffee. Every morning after that we stopped in for a coffee and pastry to share. Yum! The medium roast coffee is really flavorful and perfect for our daily start. My 6 year old had the red tea (caffeine free) one morning and it was amazing. The pastries- each morning we would choose a new pastry to try. The chocolate croissant was delicious... Heavenly bar, Pecan monkey bread, peach pastry.... All so yummy! We came here for lunch one afternoon as well. My husband and I had the roast beast sandwiches. They were really yummy. I thought they could have gone easier on the horseradish mayo (not because it was over-powering), jut thought too much creamy mayo. My husband said that's what made it perfect! Only complaint- no kids options. My 6 year old ended up with an adult sized ham and cheese sandwich that she took 5 bites out of... And I paid $7 for it...

I guess it will tell you how much I love this place when I tell you that my husband works up in Nederland on Thursdays and if he wants to make me happy he stops and picks up a Heavenly Bar. It's kind of like a 7 layer bar but with more coconut and nuts and less chocolate and well...it's heavenly! I've also had a latte on site (too bad he can't bring me one of those home) and they are fantastic as well. The chocolate croissants are also fantastic. As far as the place itself, it's cute, cool, trendy and folksy all at once. I love checking out the new original artwork that's on the walls when we go up there.

Passing through Nederland, CO this afternoon we tried this little bakery/bistro. Best panini I've ever had! The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. My dad also enjoyed his sandwich! If you're in Nederland STOP HERE!!!

Love this place!! Sometimes I even find excused to go for a ride up the mountains just to come hang out here on sunny days. Very nice staff, excellent coffee and delicious pastries. Great outdoor seating and usually doesn't get too busy (except that one time a Czech cycling team showed up and took over the patio, but that was somewhat awesome).

Great prices on great espresso before or after a hike. Ran into two very friendly girls/baristas on two consecutive days.

Like my friend Kat C. says, their gluten free chocolate puddle cookie is to DIE for! Not only that, the really sweet woman who worked the counter didn't think I was a freak when I skipped into her store and did a shimmy to warm up as it was cold outside. They had some delicious looking macaroons and a chocolate cake I was eyeballing and the coffee aromas were heavenly.

My friend Kathy bought me a gluten-free chocolate covered chocolate chocolate chip cookie here that was to DIE for. Delicious!

Love love LOVE the macaroons. Everything there is good, though. Owners very friendly as well as the staff. It can't be easy to sustain a business in tiny Nederland, so I'm glad they're making it. I hope we can all continue to support it. Yum ....

This little gem is truly the heart and pulse of Ned...while you are waiting for the best damned coffee on the mountain... You will see all the locals stop in, trading yarns about mountain lions, gold mines and new babies being born... Pastries and croissants are to die for, and the smile and warm greetiing you get from the Sparkle Girl behind the counter will warm your heart. Great place!!!oh and BTW my new favorite thing...Bahkti CHAI OMG the best ever!!!

  • Marcus W.

I stopped in for a post-trail run snack. The iced soy chai hit the spot. Not too sweet and a nice, not-too-strong, spicy flavor. The blueberry chocolate scone was really delicious. The owner is super nice and was also working the counter. I forgot to ask if she was also the baker extraordinaire... Great location right beside the visitor center.

I have NEVER had a more perfect chai latte. EVER. I am gluten-intolerant and this was a paradise to me! I usually opt out for soy instead of milk but even too much soy bothers me. Well...New Moon Bakery has RICE MILK as well! I had the most divine rice chai. It was really spicy but that makes it the most authentic chai I've ever had. None of that super sweet chalky powder taste. Okay, they also had these scrumptious little gluten-free cookie things with Giradelli chocolate in them! Wow. Try the peanut butter one. Nederland isn't a place I pass by all the time but this place will definitely keep bringing me back.

I have to agree with the other Yelpers- I wanted to try the whole pastry case as I watched new goodies come out of the oven. But, I went for the gluten free carrot cake. I cannot resist cream cheese icing on carrot cake! It was quite dense and heavy, and the woman who helped me warned that I would have to take some home. I smirked a little when she said that because I killed the darn thing and saved on styrofoam to-go containers. :-) I personally don't care for nuts on carrot cake, but the flavor was excellent, not too sweet (except the frosting) and full of strips of fresh carrots. Dad had a short shot of espresso, and it smelled great too.

The lady and I went here for a nice breakfast after camping in the mountains. I had the Everything Breakfast Bagel and she had a Plain Breakfast Bagel with cream cheese. The place was busy but the service was great. We had our dog so we sat on the patio in the nice mountain sun. The food didn't take very long to receive once ordered. The sandwiches were good, both of us were content. The price odds reasonable as well.

Great place to grab a pre hike/ski cap. The heavenly bars make a great trail snack. Service is solid and friendly. They can get busy because they are so good.

This place is awesome! Our picky person loved it, our Mexican food fan loved it, our everything eater "loved it more than everything", and our mushroom fan was amazed! So many fantastic flavors and recipes under the same small roof, and there is still lots of room left in which to eat them! The service was great, too, and the hot chocolate is to die for. Definitely would come back!

The very best almond croissants anywhere! Soy cappuccino, espressos, and perfect coffee made the way you want it. They also have delicious veggie and non-veggie quiches and a good assortment of gluten-free breads and pastries. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere invites locals and tourists to hangout and have good conversations. This is my favorite coffee place in Ned.

I came in during the afternoon to have a glass of coffee. It's a very warm and cozy place and I was surprised to see the options they have for bagels, panini's and other breakfast items. They offer gluten free bread too! Great coffee and atmosphere. I will be back.

Loved this place! Tons of gluten free baked goods. The guys that work there are super friendly and nice and let me stay an extra 15 mins after closing while they cleaned up.

YUM! Good coffee and excellent pastries, crepes, breakfast sandwiches, everything you need for breakfast, lunch, and in between. Decent gluten-free selection too, including options that are truly delish. Lots of outdoor seating when the weather is nice. A happy place in downtown Ned.

From now on this will be my go-to spot to satisfy my sweet tooth in Ned. Unfortunately they were having some difficulties in the kitchen and were not making crepes when I visited, which I wanted to try since others had raved about them, so I opted for a slice of pecan coffee cake, a chocolate/coconut macaroon, and a Leslie chai instead. The coffee cake was RIDICULOUSLY fluffy and delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness to pair with a coffee or tea in the morning, and the macaroon was also to die for. The Leslie chai was a blend of their "spicy" and "sweet" chai varieties and was the perfect blend of each. The only seriously negative thing about this place is that there isn't any air conditioning, so if it's a warm day the inside might feel a bit like a sauna. They do have a nice patio with adequate shade, though; if it's already full you might consider getting your treats to-go so you can find a nice spot to eat somewhere else.

Awesome yummy food! Stopped by here on the way to Eldora on a Friday morning. Short line to order and service was prompt. I had the best fresh peach croissant ever and we shared a heated up sundried tomato and spinach pastry that was delish. I also ordered the hot cider which was piping hot and fresh tasting. They have multiple gluten free items, and I think anything you order will be delightful. Definitely worth visiting if you're in this tiny town outside of Eldora.

I have an unholy addiction to the "heavenly bars" here. The most decadent, fattening layers of cookie/chocolate/nuts/coconut etc. to have ever been compiled. I've been abstaining from a visit for sake of my waistline and wallet (it's a little overpriced, like any given coffee shop) but I feel myself caving in. A warning to first-time visitors, it can get pretty packed inside (it's not very big) so come with a plan b for sitting space or get it to-go. A heavenly bar and a coffee with a shot of chocolate. My go-to.

Crepes to die for!!!! These crepes are so wonderful you leave wanting more and more. Love the New Moon Bakery, it makes Nederland such a warm and inviting place to eat breakfast, lunch or a gluten free snack with some wonderful coffee or tea. Time for another hike or mt. bike ride in NED!!!!!

Very lovely patio with good umbrellas and shade. Their food was very nice and refreshing as we're their coffee and tea beverages. I would definitely recommend going here if you're stopping by. The customer service was spectacular too. I ordered a chai latte but forgot to specify skim milk. They made me another free of charge with a smile. Really fantastic staff and relaxed atmosphere.

I stopped at the New Moon Bakery and Cafe while on a pleasure drive in my sports car along the Peak to Peak Highway. I ordered a coffee and a blueberry muffin. The coffee was good, but the muffin was amazing. No, more than amazing: mind-blowing. It might have been the best blueberry muffin I've ever eaten. That might sound like hyperbole, but it's not. The muffin really was that incredible.

New Moon has had a quadruple upgrade in the quality and variety of their exceptional baked goods, since our last purchase two years ago. This morning's plain croissant was chewy, buttery, and positively memorable, especially when bought early in the day and eaten slowly with almond butter and cheese. I always test croissants, and they always disappoint. Next time I want one (tomorrow!), if I am within an hour of New Moon I will head up to Ned. Can't rave enough about the place, service, and selection this morning. [For reference, the *everything* cookie I had there in the past was the worst cookie I ever ate, which makes this upgrade so much sweeter.] My wife agrees about the croissant, but she didn't like the blueberry chocolate scone as much as I did, probably because she ate it straight without the aforementioned almond butter and cheese. It was a ripe gooey cheese from Alfalfa's down the hill in Boulder: cabra di cana, or something similar. She liked her Amante coffee Americano. Nederland is a funky little town in a great location. Check out the three-loop short Mud Lake hike up the road at Caribou Ranch Open Space. UPDATE July 7, 2014 Plain croissant was more traditional this morning: flaky and not so buttery. Almond croissant was the best thing we ate today. Service continues to be very good. Coffee from Amante remains excellent. Patio is delightful in early day Ned sun.

Stopped for breakfast last week- Dad was like I remember this place- once we get in side I find out its more of a bakery coffee shop with some breakfast sandwich- had a bagel egg sandwich with salsa- not bad my dad had a coffee and chocolate filled roll- not bad- really wanted a breakfast like biscuits and gravy but the sandwich was tasty. a very small dining room- might need to get it to go. two women were behind the counter- not a true sit down place- . spent about twelve bucks for both of us and I had a small bottle of coke also.
