First Street is a total mountain bar. They have a great deck with a bar and let you bring your dog. I'm pretty sure you can have your dog inside if it's not a nice day. It's dark with creaky wood floors. I love walking into a mountain bar just like this. The menu is typical bar food, burgers, fried things, wings....I had the wings, there was way too much sauce, the sauce was good, but I actually had to wipe it off with napkins. The crab cakes are surprisingly good too. For Colorado, they were some of the closest to east coast fried crab cakes I've come across. The burgers are also tasty. When in Ned, this is a fun place to go, there's really not much to choose from so this is a safe bet you will feel relaxed and leave full.

Good selection of brews and boozles, better-than-pub-grub vittles. Packed days and dead days - service is always attentive. When it is packed (during events i.e. Okt'fest, Dead Guy, etc), it can be difficult to make your way about; if you don't stay, try giving the place another chance later. Nice place to just hang and relax.

If I went here during a night out and had some drinks and some food, I'd be satisfied. Unfortunately, I went during the day for lunch. I ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich. It tasted really good. The bad part was that it was too small. I ate it so quickly and easily, I questioned how much filling was in that sandwich. You dont expect to be hungry and want to eat after lunch. but that's the way this place left me.

stopped by here for a drink and some food one evening when i was in the area visiting family. the woman tending bar was friendly and helpful. the wine was good and inexpensive and the burger was great. happened to be a karaoke night and primarily young people present. comfortable bar and table seating. unfortunately, witnessed an upsetting interchange which appeared racist and discriminatory. there had been a verbal altercation between an african american man and a caucasion man at the table directly behind me. the african american man quickly tried to diffuse the situation and disengaged from the confrontation. he seemed to be here for the karaoke. however, soon the "manager" (?) approached the african american man who was quietly seated by himself. she asked him to leave! he quietly told her he was minding his own business (which he was), explained what had happened and asked if she'd asked the other person involved to also leave. she did not. she persisted and he left, saying "sure, make the black man leave". it certainly seemed this way. he was the only person of color in the place. i feel badly that i didn't intercede, but was concerned about an escalation of the situation. this was a very disturbing event. i apologize for my passivity and want to ask the people involved to consider their actions. i will not return and encourage others not to. Great mountain pub. The food is NOT "typical" bar type food. Each dish is unique and definitely made from scratch. The service was great and we will definitely stop by for more beer and great food after a day of skiing or hiking. I highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely one of, if not, the best in Nederland.

Very disappointing food and slow service. People were great, however. Got there on a Saturday around 1:30. No one else being served. Still took half an hour to get a kid's pizza and shrimp enchilada. Pizza was warm and my son loved it. Enchilada was hot but geez, where's the shrimp? Maybe one piece cut into tiny pieces. One more shrimp and cut 15 minutes off the wait and we could've gone for 4 stars. Maybe next time...

The food here is solid, average, middle of the road bar food. I give it 3 stars. The service, however, is truly terrible, less than a 1 star. I'm going to describe our experience here in some detail, because I'm hoping that the owner and/or manager would like to know how the employees treat customers. A friend and I met here on Friday, March 27th, at 5:30pm. We sat at a table for a good while, and no server ever came by. We then went to the bar to order drinks and food. At one end of the bar, two women (the bartender and perhaps a server) were chowing down on chips and dip. We stood there for several minutes before the bartender stopped eating and came over to assist us. We ordered beers, and food. She pulled the beers hurriedly, leaving about 3 inches of foam in each glass, took our money, all without saying a single solitary word to us, and headed straight back to her chips and dip. We then put a cash tip on the counter, and she actually seemed annoyed that she had to walk back and take it. We went back to our table. The food was delivered fairly quickly thereafter. Again, decent, standard bar food. We ate and drank our beers. No one ever came by to see if we needed anything. So, back to the bar we went to order more beer. About a half hour had passed. And the same two employees were still at the end of the bar, and they were STILL eating. The earlier scene repeated itself again. The wait for the bartender to notice our presence amidst her chomping, the absolute and annoyed silence when she came to help us, the badly pulled drafts, the quick return to her food. Wow. We took our beers back to the table. A server finally came by a few minutes later. But to help us? No. She told us that the place was expecting a dinner crowd, and that we would have to move from the table. ???? We had paid for and eaten food, we were just beginning to drink our second beers, which were clearly and visibly still full. AND the place wasn't busy at all. There were empty tables all around. Except for what looked like a gathering/party happening in a far corner, the place was pretty dead. And, after spending money on food and drinks, we were asked to move. Truly unbelievable. In case you are wondering, my friend and I are nice, polite, clean, ordinary-looking people. We did absolutely nothing to make the server ask that we vacate our table. The experience was so bizarre that it verged on surreal.

Stopped in for a burger and a beer on the way home from the mountains. It was casual, unpretentious, and down-home friendly. The burgers were really good. I'll be back!

Service was very slow. I ordered a burger and it was subpar. $10 for a frozen patty not worth it. My friends had a Matti Melt and the vegan wrap. The vegan wrap was edible but the matti melt was not so good. I don't recommend this place.

Cool little dive bar in the mountains with your typical pub menu and a decent beer selection on tap. The burgers are always awesome, this time I had the Black & Blue and it was pretty spicy with extra jalapeños on the side. I forget the name of the stout I was drinking but you can take home a growler :o) Theres now no smoking on the patio out back but people were just standing by the stairs leading to the parking lot and so you could still smell smoke, otherwise cool place

We Stopped by here on the road, it was pretty slow, but food was good! I got the shrimp scampi and it was pretty delicious for Colorado! But the rest of the table got burgers and Pizza and were very pleased as well. It was happy hour when we went (4-6pm Monday-Friday) and we got the wings and garlic bread with cheese! They are we're all pretty good! Although it was slow, the food was good.

This place is really cool. It has a very unique feel and ambiance. It feels very laid back and is in a beautiful location. The work staff here are SO cool and friendly. This is a great place to people watch and watch football. OK, now let us get down to the food. I had the Dan's hamburger with seasoned french fries. Apparently, Dan is the husband/owner that created this masterpiece of a burger. It came with raw onions and was seasoned perfectly. Delicious! The food was so fresh. If you are in the area... you MUST stop in to this joint. You won't be disappointed.

The "1st Street" restaurant and bar is my favorite Nederland hang out. Their staff is accommodating, the space warm and welcome, food both gourmet and simple (always made with love), and bar well stacked and always offering specials. They hire helpers from the community who really invest in making excellent fare and treating people right. I especially enjoy their soup specials, chicken burgers, and Mexican-style offerings.

Who would have guessed that, while camping in the Colorado wilderness, my boyfriend and I would stumble upon one of the best little dives West of the Mississippi? Beyond boasting some of the country's most stunning scenery, Nederland offers some great and quirky places to the visiting masses. Our favorite is First Street Pub & Grill. While the atmosphere is totally chill and appropriate for a fairly no-nonsense, put-your-hiking-boots-up-and-take-a-load-off part of the country, the food is as artful, creative, and thoughtfully crafted as you would expect in a higher-end gastropub in any metropolis. My beloved and I even ordered "take-out" after enjoying our first meal there so we could have leftovers...warmed over our campfire, of course. If you're a wheat beer person, I'd happily treat you to (and join you in enjoying) a First Street Wheat. You'd just have to take me with you the next time you stop by First Street!! =)

A group of six of us stopped in to the First Street Pub & Grill on a Sunday. We chose a table out on the deck and enjoyed the mountain air and the beautiful views. You can tell this isn't a fancy place -- definitely a local establishment, but I had high hopes for a fun time and decent food. In all, it was OK. Our waitress was nice but did a fairly mediocre job. She didn't know very much about the beer options, and she couldn't answer basic questions like, "What wheat beers do you have?" She was slow to bring things, didn't offer us refills on our water until we asked and (pet peeve) brought out half of the table's food and then took several minutes to bring the rest. Food-wise, there were pros and cons. We ordered the appetizer that's called Chris's combo or something like that -- a platter of deep fried things, including mozzarella sticks, zuicchini rounds, wings, etc. We ordered it for the table figuring everyone would get a few things to nosh on... but the platter was kind of small. You got two zucchini rounds, two mozzarella sticks, I think three wings, etc. We had to cut everything in half and everyone really only got a bite or two. It was kind of oddly small, especially since the menu description really gave no indication about the quantity. I don't know, maybe that's on us for assuming you'd be getting more, but I guess when you see the equivalent of "platter of deep fried stuff" on a menu, you don't think the portions will be skimpy. On the plus side, what was there was indeed tasty. I had trouble finding something I actually wanted to eat, and I finally settled on fettuccine alfredo. Seemed safe. I did appreciate that they offer a half-order of pasta here, and that really is plenty. It came with a salad or soup. I chose house salad, which was really unimpressive. Some chopped up lettuce, some raw onion, croutons and I think maybe a tomato or two. That's it. The lettuce wasn't even that fresh. My fettuccine was actually pretty good. It was cooked correctly and the sauce was pretty creamy and tasty. But I also opted to add vegetables for $3 extra and received exactly three florets of broccoli. That's it. $1 per floret. Not exactly what I envisioned when I ordered it. In all, I think everyone's food was kind of like that. Passable, not outrageously priced, not bad. But not great either. If you just need a bite and a beer, though, could be worth the stop.

One of the best fried fish meals I have ever had anywhere. Went with my whole family, parents visiting and young kids all finicky but were beyond surprised how good the food was. And extremely reasonable. I asked if the catfish special was battered in-house and went for it - it was so good my kid stole it from me. Everyone's food was great. Kids meals super reasonable as well. Great beer selection and atmosphere. Recommending it to everyone I know. What a great surprise find in Nederland.
