Better than I remember.... it really was. My husband and I returned last weekend. It was just the two of us at the table and the hibachi chef still put on a fantastic show and doused us with sake. The filet was D I V I N E!!! The scallops melted on my tongue. The cocktails are not excellent but I've never been to a hibachi with fantastic drinks. And that's okay as long as they ply me with sake! Someday I will try the sushi. That is, if I can pry myself away from the table of fire. Not likely.

Decor- VERY cute. Food- Good After Food- Thumbs down I sooo wanted to like this place so we had a nice place to go to in monument. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to recommend it. The SUSHI was very small and expensive. Dinner entrees were pricey. It would be better to try it at lunch time when it's half the price. Entree was small for the cost. Food tasted descent. A little later after dinner, my husband got sick..then not long after, I was plenty sick too. So unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Food was cold. Meat was NOT of good quality. Waiter was rude when asked any questions. Cost of a two person meal wss about $30. This place was a very big disappointment.

My family was really looking forward to trying this place for lunch today as we love Japanese food. I have 3 kids (6, 7, and 10) and we sat at the hibachi table so 4 of us could get hibachi and my daughter could order sushi. The host overheard us talking about sushi and said we needed to move to the other side if we wanted sushi. I said that most of us were getting hibachi but one wanted sushi. I said that was kind of an insane policy and asked him if we needed to split up. I don't think he knew how to respond so we asked again if we could sit at the hibachi grill and order hibachi and sushi. He shook his head no....so that was that, we'll spend our money elsewhere. I've been to many Japanese restaurants and spent 2 years living in Japan and I've truly never had this kind of experience. Very disappointing (and a terrible business decision).

I've only had the hibachi menu, but it was as good as any hibachi grill you've been to before. The cooks ate energetic, funny, put on a good show and equally good eats. Try the squid instead of the usual beef or chicken.

Food was great, fresh and tasty. Only complaint - it's SUPER loud in here when it gets busy. The ceilings are super-high and there are very little dampeners. That being said, I think the service was fantastic and very quick. I would go back, but just not on a busy night. Could hardly hear myself think.

Today, I craved some maki rolls. I tried the lunch combo (2 rolls) with miso soup, and salad. Very good overall and a nice price too. This was takeout; so I cannot judge the service or atmosphere. So far, so good. Will try the hibachi soon.

Bad. That's about all I can say. The sushi was mediocre, the kids meals are WAY over priced, and I never once heard their staff tell us (patrons) thank you for supporting a local restaurant. This says they're kid friendly, but don't believe it... This was my 3rd time trying this place, and unfortunately our last. Hopefully people take this review and the others on here that agree with me serious before heading to this place.

This place is fantastic. ..my husband and I are transplants from southern California and were a bit skeptical of having fish so far from the ocean! We have been pleasantly surprised, the fish is wonderful, the special rolls all great....you won't be let down!

I've actually never ate IN Fuji Mt but I have gotten it delivered twice. For some reason Yelp says they do not deliver but that is not true. FREE delivery, according to their menu they deliver up to 6 miles on minimum of $20 orders. Firstly the delivery was really quick both times I ordered! Like 20 minutes. I've had Kung Pow Chicken, General Tao's Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, Egg Drop soup and Spring Rolls. Out of all those my favorite has been the Lo Mein for sure, really good flavor. Nothing I've had has been bad but at the same time it isn't PERFECT (5 Stars) but I would advise you to eat here for sure. Everything has had good flavors.

the very fact that they deliver in Monument buys them a star! sushi is ok; won't win any awards, but not the worst. concur with other poster...food is two stars, delivery & service is four stars!

Can only comment on the sushi but each and every time it is fresh and always presented well. Thrilled that we do not have to go into the Springs. Very reasonably priced. pmj

Okay so this is our second time going and this time was better than the first. However I will say if you going for a date night or something where you want to have a nice conversation when the hibachi's start going it is very very loud. However the sushi was good and the service was awesome. We will be back!

I've never eaten at the Fuji Mt restaurant location, but I've ordered food for delivery about 5 times in the past 2 months. I received their take-out menu in the mail and when I saw that they had delivery, I thought I'd give it a try. So glad I did! Ordering online is super easy and convenient. Delivery is fast and drivers have been very courteous. I love the variety of foods and usually go for Chinese or Thai food. Haven't tried the sushi or hibachi items yet, but I'm still exploring the menu. The Chinese food is the better/best of the Chinese restaurants I've eaten at in Monument, so far. My husband loves the veggie fried rice. I love the lo-mein and lemon chicken. We both love the Panang curry with tofu (spicy, lots of fresh veggies in there) - and he normally hates tofu. I order delivery from here even more than pizza! ;)

  • Cara K.

We did the hibachi grill! It was very fun and entertaining. The food had a lot of sauce, so it was a bit on the unhealthy side but good. I ordered tofu, it was precut and had a different texture than I am used to but it didn't taste bad. The soup was really good! I ordered green tea and it was a green tea bag which was a little disappointing to me, I like to order tea in sushi places because they normally use matcha or the tea leaves. They didn't refill it. One of my family members had lobster and a filet, both were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had shrimp, which was also cooked very well. The chef did all the usual hibachi tricks, except one I hadn't seen before; he squirted sake into my boyfriends mouth, probably about 3 or 4 shots worth. It was pretty funny to watch. They are open until 10pm on Saturday, which was really convenient and nice. I wish they would lighten up the meals a little bit ( less heavy sauce on everything) and it would be great if they used a better hot tea. All in all, it was pretty good! The atmosphere was nice and we all had a great time!

I've been hoping for a new Japanese joint since the last Japanese restaurant closed in Monument a few years ago. I had high expectations for Fuji Mt. Sushi, but I was met with a Chinese-Japanese-Thai variety restaurant. The service was decent, but not very fast. The food was good, but nothing to scream for joy about. The fish was okay, but I would not describe it as being the freshest in Colorado. Overall, I would return to the restaurant if I didn't feel like driving to Tako or Kura for Japanese food.

  • Michelle G.

The sushi here was marginal at best and I did have to send a dish back. If you're looking for sushi - keep looking. As to the rest of the menu, we didn't sample anything else. We came in on a week night when it wasn't busy and our service was good but there were a couple of gaps in communication due to language differences. I didn't mind that at all. However, we won't be back due to the below average quality of the sushi. I'm really disappointed as I would have loved a good sushi place in Monument!

7 of us went in so my son in law could experience his first hibachi. The place was empty when we got there - 6pm on a Thursday. That normally makes me very nervous, but the place was so spotlessly clean that we decided to go on in. We ended up having one of the best hibachi meals I've ever had. All of the food had its own unique flavor, which was a nice surprise. I have been to many where the same sauce, etc is put on the veggies, the shrimp, the rice, and whatever your meat of choice is and it all tastes exactly the same! This is definitely someplace we would go back to again and again. Great staff also! Also noteworthy was the Hanade roll - I'd go back in a minute for that!

We just moved here last summer. We have been in about a half dozen times. We love the food and sushi but the service can be hit or miss. If the service was as good as the food we would come more often. My favorite is the caterpillar roll. It is excellent. Both our children 6 and 8 love it here.

The only thing I can think is that the people that have provided the previous ratings know NOTHING about Asian food. I'm Japanese and this is not high-quality food. In addition, the staff is not knowledgeable, slow, and not customer-centric. This is NOTHING like Jun or AI in Colorado Springs....quite inferior to either. I think Sakura in the other part of Monument is actually better...at least there service is.

My fiancée and I have been going to Fuji Mt. for the last 9 months (since we moved to CO) and the food is not bad, although a bit overpriced. Ever since we've been eating there we noticed that we almost always get the same waiter and the same waiter is somewhat unfriendly and always seems to rush us out. We don't mind since we don't really like waiting anyway. Tonight was the most disappointing visit of all. Once again, we got the same waiter and he was completely and deliberately rude to us. In our previous visits, we found out that this waiter is actually the manager. To begin, the waiter slammed down our plates and waters. My fiancée ordered a mojito but it never came. After 20 minutes of waiting for the mojito, we had to request it again. The waiter rudely said to us "It's coming!" and walked away. When he returned he brought us back a yellowish drink with no mint leaves and no ice. We asked if it was a mojito and he said yes. My fiancée tried it and it tasted like a citric mango drink. The waiter huffed and puffed and took it away without giving us the chance to reorder a drink. After waiting for an additional 45+ for our food the first sushi order came in, we still had 2 more. It took 20 more minutes for the second sushi order. The waiter never stopped by to check on us but he did stop by to ask us if we wanted to order more sushi. We told him we were still waiting on the last sushi order and he just walked away. Shortly after he brought us the third and last sushi order he stopped by and dropped off the check on our table, without even asking if we wanted anything else such as dessert. When he returned to pick up our credit card we showed him a coupon we had and he said to us "Give me your card so I don't have to come back again" We were stunned because he didn't want to adjust the bill and bring it back to us to approve, it seemed like such a hassle to him to have to make 2 trips! We paid and left. This was the absolute worst restaurant experience we have ever had because our waiter was rude, the food took way too long and we couldn't even get a decent drink..not to mention he didn't even refill our waters or asked if we were doing ok. We are not sure we want to return now, specially since this isn't the first time he has behaved this way. What's worse is that he is the manager and he should lead by example and not treat his customers so rudely. Very disappointing :(

Food quality, freshness, and taste were excellent. Service was good. Large, new dining room. Water tasted a little off. Food came out fast. We ordered potstickers as an appetizer and 5 rolls for 3 people. We ordered 2 more rolls because they were smaller than expected (not a lot of rice). We are happy to have a nice sushi restaurant in our area. We compare all sushi to Jun and especially think Jun's happy hour sushi is a terrific value. Compared to Jun, Mt Fuji is bigger, newer, and nicer. The food at Mt Fuji is in my opinion just as good and maybe even fresher than Jun. Mt Fuji does not represent as good a value as Jun but Mt Fuji has a nice new restaurant they need to pay for in a higher rent district. I would have given it 5 stars if the rolls were larger (that little extra rice on the rolls can't cost hardly anything and can go a long way on perceived value).

My significant other and I went here for the first time just last night. We've eaten at A.I. many times and have enjoyed it for the most part, but was interested in checking this place out since our house in near Glen Eagle (far N. Colorado Springs). We were there on a Wednesday night around 6:30 PM and even though 3 other grills were serving, they still allowed us to seat at another grill where we had a private chef serving just us. We did wait a little longer before the chef arrived, however I can understand since I'm sure they were wanting to try and seat others at the grill instead of just the 2 of us. We ordered the filet mignon and shrimp. The steak was a very good cut and cooked to our liking (med rare) and important to me the shrimp was deveined and didn't have any parts of a shell on them. I've recently had this problem at A.I and it started to turn me off of them. The other thing I like about Fuji Mtn is that their drinks don't taste like a bunch of sweet syrup. I ordered the Peach fizi or something like that which had some sparkling wine and some peach flavor and my sig other had a ginger martini. Both were very good and not overly sweet. The rice and veggies from the grill were all great and very tasty. I'm not a fan of salad that much, however the dressing they use on the salad had a softer taste than what I experience at A.I. and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure this is just a personal taste thing though. Everything in the salad was crisp and seemed very fresh. The soup was not anything to rave about, but it was not bad. As far as the pricing goes, it is not inexpensive. Their pricing seems to be in line with other hibachi restaurants that we've visited. One thing that you should check out is their reward card. If I understood our waitress correctly, it will give us 10% off of future visits and it costs nothing. We did sign up for the rewards card and we'll definately return with more of our friends.

I have enjoyed this restaurant since it opened last year. It has definitely gotten better since it opened. Their business has really increased. I love the lunches. Very reasonable with a nice quantity of food. Always take some home. The wait staff is extremely friendly. I gave my friend a surprise party and took 3 grills. It was very homey. They let us visit and helped with the decorations. Very accommodating. My friend who had never been wanted to go again, so we went again. A little pricey at dinner; I much prefer lunches. The 20% coupons are a great deal. They also have FREE delivery which I use quite often!

Great Food, Growing Pains in Service! Grand opening was on Monday, 16 July and we went for dinner on Tuesday, 17 July. Big Mistake, but I expect the service will improve as the business gets into its rhythm. The family went for a traditional meal and not the Teppanyaki. The High Points: Excellent Food, especially the Sushi. Warm and tasty rice (not cold and unflavored) and the sushi was both very delicious and quickly served. The Udon benefitted from excellent soup (broth) - uncommonly tasty. And the portions were generous, especially the tempura, ordered both as a meal and as part of the the Tempura Udon. Heck! The Tempura serving with the Udon was almost as large as the Tempura Meal! Yum! The Low Points: Service. Monument has been dying for a quality Japanese restaurant for a while and so this place was packed and the staff was simply overwhelmed. Aside from the sushi, the rest of the dinner (family of four) was slow. The Beef Teriyaki was woefully undercooked (teriyaki is not served rare, and this was RAW). Took a while to get our ocha (Hot Green Tea) and our bill, too. I expect, and hope, that the service improves as the crowd slows and Fuji gets into its rhythm. Hopefully quality on the sushi and udon won't decrease either. Price was the same as most Japanese fare. Nice, modern look. Too bad they were already suffering some leaks in the roof. GAMBARE!

I do not recommend this place. The sushi tasted like dirt, tempura was not good, and the chicken was very very dry and flavorless. If you want good Japanese food in Colorado I recommend Jun's

The food is two stars; the service/delivery is four stars. My boyfriend really likes this place, but I think he's got Stockholm syndrome. (He lives in Monument and I'm an occasional visitor from a city with actually good food -- Portland, OR). The nigiri's okay, but the rolls are pretty terrible. And there's random other Asian food on the menu. How can you take a Japanese place seriously when you can also get sweet and sour chicken and Thai red curry at the same place?? On the other hand, this is down the street from his apartment and pretty much the only sushi game in town. And their delivery is solid. So we come here when we want sushi and we don't want to drive to somewhere actually good.

I have made it to this place about 4 times so far. I have had the sushi 2 of those times. The other 2 times I had Chinese and Pad Thai. All the times service has been good and food is great too. I would say that they are a little high in my humble opinion. Fellow yelpers I would say this place deserves to be visited if your up here in Monument. They also deliver!

  • Bessy O.

The only reason why I'm giving this place 1 start is because that's the lowest I can rate. The service was horrible, we waited a good 20 minutes before even ordering our entry, the rice on all our sushi rolls (it was 8 people) was undercooked...really hard and crunchy. Then we were told we would get a discount for it, which we didn't. And to top it off, the waiter decided to add 20% tip to everyone's check...I don't usually have negative things to day about sushi restaurants but this was an overall bad experience. I would not recommend this spot to anyone.

Good Sushi but pricey, if you get delivery expect the sushi to be half the size of what you get in the restaurant. the Hibachi side is ok, typical hibachi, you get shrimp thrown at you, heart beat fried rice, the choo choo volcano onion... you know :)

I like this sushi place for their 2 roll lunch special . Comes with ginger-dressing salad & miso soup $8 . You really can not beat the price . They are no longer affiliated with Mt Fuji in castle rock . I like Fuji Mt better . Excellent Kani or seaweed ( wakame)salad. The spicy tuna or spicy salmon rolls are less mixed and salad like , than say Mt Fuji .I like eel alvacado rolls instead of eel cucumber and they were happy to subsitute . The pink walls and art glass decor is contemporary & soothing . Nice variety on the sake menu . Full bar . The also offer yakatori , though I have only tried the sushi. The restaurant is near Wal mart off the baptist rd exit south of Monument.

Fuji Mt. has been open for maybe about two years. We should have gone sooner. I didn't know how a sushi restaurant in a stripmall in Monument would be but we were really surprised. They do NOT have a happy hour for sushi rolls which is a shame, but there are daily specials on drinks, wine and cocktails (see my photo). The specialty rolls were great! The basic roll I had (can't remember which) was rather bland. The tip I have for the business: open your blinds at night! You have a good looking place but no one would ever know that driving by. Guarantee that you'd be busier if you opened the blinds.

We took our kids here and we all really had a good time. The boys really enjoyed the experience. The food was good all around, but fairly typical of a hibachi--nothing to stand out. The chef was entertaining, which was a big hit with our sons. The sushi was also good, but not great. The service side was stronger than the food, but no complaints with the food either.

This place was simply AMAZING!!! The service, the food, the atmosphere everything was fantastic! If I lived closer I would deff eat here more often. I went on Valentine's Day, we needed a reservation to sit at the hibachi table so we sat in a booth instead (same food minus the show) but the experience was still delightful and quick.

I love how they deliver so quickly! I can get sushi and my boys can get their usual Chinese favorites. Sushi delivered to my house? Love that!! The food is good. We've also been there for hibachi which is fun. Especially when they squirt sake in our mouthes. Lol!

We love our local hibachi restaurant. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is bright and it's always clean. I lived in Japan growing up. I'm a Japanese food snob. Fugi Mt has always met or exceeded my expectations for both hibachi and sushi. The entertainment of the chefs is always on point. Meat is cooked to order. Sushi is always fresh and made perfectly. It's our "go to" celebration eatery and a perfect place for lunch. There's no need to drive into the Springs for great Asian cuisine. It's right here in our own backyard! I've had some of their traditional Chinese dishes and been just as impressed. Yum! Don't miss out on this gem~

Iv been here a couple of times and have not yet found something I don't like. The hibachi is fantastic! They serve a miso soup and salad before the hibachi chef does his thing! The salad has a ginger dressing that I think may be the best salad dressing I have ever tasted. However, the hibachi food is the main attraction and it does not disappoint. Perfectly cooked meat, tasty noodles and fresh veggies make it one of my favorite places in Monument. There is one thing that keeps Fuji Mt out of 5 star territory in my opinion. Every time I have been for hibachi, the chefs seemed very bored and Stoic like they didn't care at all. Hibachi is a performance of sorts and when the person doing the performing doesn't seem like he's having a good time, it brings down the mood of the whole thing. So from a performance standpoint, the chefs could use a little work but the food they cook is delicious!

Tonight we ordered a selection of sashimi and rolls from Fuji Mt. We have ordered from here several times and have been pleased. Tonight, things changed. All of our food was fine with the exception of our octopus sashimi. It was literally spoiled. It tasted like octopus that had been sitting on the counter for several days. It was completely inedible and actually dangerous. Both my wife and I took one bite and threw it out. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. I told him about our sashimi, and he began arguing with me. I told him, multiple times, that the rest of the food was good, but I was concerned about him serving spoiled food to customers as this will potentially hurt someone. I also asked that he refund us the $10 for the two orders of octopus sashimi. He blatantly refused. He told me he would pass along the complaint to the "owner," at which point I asked to speak to the owner. He paused and said, "I am the owner." This place is serving dangerous food and they have zero regard for the health of their patrons. I intend to report them to the health department as well. I do not want anyone getting harmed from eating spoiled fish!!!

We have been to Mt Fuji several times. This night out there was 8 of us for the Hibachi. Everything was ok until the so called "chef" showed up to cook. He was terrible right out of the gate, but it ended up being much worse. Long story short, he ended up burning my wife and in laws with hot water and grease. It was a poorly trained person who was working the Hibachi and he was cleaning the grill and splashed my family. The next part was almost as bad when the "manager"said he would comp 2 meals and a 20% discount. It was beyond insulting and he was adamant that they had insurance and that we could go to the doctor. I have never experienced anything like this. We just want to warn others and let you know what kind of people are running this place. We will never go back there. Ever.

Been to this place twice now and had the Sushi both times. It was very good both times. Prices are good, and the service was good as well.

Lol!

Ever.

GAMBARE!

I order delivery from here even more than pizza! ;)

Okay so this is our second time going and this time was better than the first. However I will say if you going for a date night or something where you want to have a nice conversation when the hibachi's start going it is very very loud. However the sushi was good and the service was awesome. We will be back!

Not likely.
