Not the "greatest ever" but certainly nothing to complain about! Service is fast and friendly, food tastes good, and you certainly get your money's worth! We ordered off the lunch menu. Our order came with the main dish, rice, soup, spring roll, and a wonton. It also came with complimentary hot tea, which was delicious. We had the tea and water with lunch. The duck sauce is good and the mustard is nice and spicy. Our total was less than $15 for two people and we both took our leftovers to go. The women who were working there were polite and smiling. Place was clean. I will definitely eat here again and recommend it. Truck parking across the street.

Visited Columbine Gardens after hearing some glowing reviews from someone and reading the Yelp reviews, but decided the place just isn't for me. Perhaps it can rated high as "Americanized Chinese food", along with Panda Express, with everything heavily breaded and fried, plus some sort of gooey sweet or spicy sauce on top. The nearby Jasmien Garden, and the newly opened Sakura, rate higher on the authentic scale for me and the food, in my opinion, also better. As for the service, maybe I went on a bad night, but the ladies working there didn't seem very friendly... :(

We have eaten here a number of times, in and take out. Each time the food has been great...zero complaints for this type of restaurant. Flavoring is great and we've not seen any problems with the flooring (Trevor P.). The real attraction here is the family that runs this place...they love their business and are truly customer-oriented. For this, as well as really good food, we are return customers.

My favorite chinese restaurant!!! Their crystal shrimp makes my world go round. I have never been to a place that's as great as columbine garden. 5 stars for a great staff and great food!

This is my personal favorite Chinese restaurant. They serve great food at cheap prices (especially at lunchtime). The staff is extremely friendly, and they get to know you after just a couple of visits. I actually feel like part of their family when I come in. My favorite thing on the menu is the Jampong, a large bowl of somewhat spicy soup with shrimp, chicken , pork, and beef, along with noodles and a bunch of different veggies. On a cold day you can't beat it, as evidenced by the fact that nearly everyone in the restaurant orders it when the weather turns icey. I also appreciate that the different dishes are unique, meaning the way the meat and vegetables are cut are different by menu item. Not only do the individual dishes taste different, but they also look different and have different textures as well. If you are in the area, definitely give them a try. You'll be glad you did.

Best Chinese food in Monument! They cook fresh and don't load their food with MSG like I experienced at Jasmine Gardens. Their take out is generously portioned, hot and tasty. Combination dishes (fried rice, lo mein, etc) are loaded with shrimp, where most throw in 1 piece and stick to cheaper proteins to fill the order. We have never been disappointed here. Thank you Columbine family!! So glad you have stayed with us!!

We ate here because of the good reviews, but I am severely disappointed. The food was far from fresh, very bland, and our sesame chicken was so sugary it was almost inedible. We ate just the rice with soy sauce so we didn't have to eat what we ordered. Then seeing the bill of $25 dollars for two of us was very upsetting. Definely not worth it and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I had the large Chicken and Broccoli combination platter. It included choice of soup , one egg roll and one crab ragoon. They served plenty of chicken and broccoli on a plate and your choice of rice in a bowl. Plenty of food for two people to share. It's also a clean restaurant, reasonably priced with super fast service.

Wow! Some of the best food, best service, and definitely the best value in Monument! I typically eat here once or twice a week for lunch...love it! The decor and setting is nothing to write home about...but if you're looking for great food at a great price this is it!

The food is good and the service is good. However, they will only bring one person's order and make your dinner mate wait for his or hers for up to 5 minutes. That was a bit annoying to me, but my best gal told me they always do it that way, so be prepared. The prices are reasonable, so you can take a family and not break the bank.

I have ordered from them several times and both times my order has come packed with onions and just a few slices of meat. We had 2 Mongolian beef and 1 Mongolian chicken both were so clogged with onions that at the end of our meal the plate was stacked full of just onions. We also ordered the wonton soup and it came with just 3 little wontons and the rest broth. Won't come back.

Delicious food, great prices and very friendly staff! Best Chinese I've ever had. The tofu with veggies is delicious and they give you such a large portion, that comes with soup (spicy sour is so good) and a cream cheese rangoon, eggroll and hot tea! Great place to get out of the cold and have a tasty, inexpensive meal with sweet staff.

Best Jjamppong ever! Been all over the country and I can't find better. It's a huge dish and is more then enough for two people.

The food is ok I kind of like that every lunch special comes with an egg roll it in a crab rangoon but this place is not clean an there's a couple of older ladies that run it their hands are not clean and they pick your glass up right where you drink by the rim which is disgusting the menus are all kind of tattered and dirty the table is sticky it's just not a really clean place at all and if the outside dining room looks like this it really scares me to imagine what the kitchen looks like and what kind of care the workers give their kitchen back there the wait staff I think they are overworked family members because they are just never really friendly always kind of in a rush I always go out and never go back but it's just so stinkin convenient cuz its right around the corner

This is a great local Chinese restaurant. My father in-law found it and recommended it to us. The bottom line, good Chinese food that is inexpensive and comes out quick! Plus, the helpings are great. We will definitely be coming here again! Best local Chinese food we've found.

We're new to town so finding good Chinese is critical. What a great surprise to find this gem (thanks Yelp!). We had an order of egg rolls, pork lo mein and the Mongolian beef. All were very tasty and did not have that heaviness that you get from all this fried stuff. The prices are very good considering the large portions. We will definitely be back. UPDATE: Pleased to report that the leftovers were still really good.

Tasty Chinese food, authentic atmosphere, and decent prices. I enjoyed listening to Taylor Swift over the loudspeaker as i was looking over the menu. Now for the negatives: the staff is not as friendly as it should be. Hostesses say few words and waiters are quick to talk as well. After finding a stray piece of steel wool in my Kung Pao Chicken, I probably won't be coming back anytime soon. Still, it is one of the better Chinese places in town.

Very fast service and tasty food too! When we checked in thru Yelp, we received a free crab cheese wonton appetizer! Thanks Yelp! I had the szechuan pork-super yummy! If we ever through Monument again, we would stop here for lunch or dinner!

Very Good "americanized" Chinese food (especially the General Tsao, Hunan Chicken, Mongolian Beef). The Egg Drop soup is the best I've had. Good, friendly service. Nice, usually quiet environment.

Good. Not enough uniqueness to each dish. They need to do better with floorings.

Better than your average Chinese restaurant. Read reviews online before eating. Chose sweet and sour chicken and general tso's chicken. Both were amazing. Wonderful and attentive staff. Reasonable prices for the portions.

We were served a wonderful hot tea upon arrival. Excellent service, average price $$. The Pork with Garlic Sauce had a lot of bell pepper, (I don't like bell pepper). I liked the twice cooked pork it had a nice spicy kick!!

Great American style Chinese food ,in a nice date nite or " get together"atmosphere. What we grew up with -- before"fusion"or "thai" were even an option. All the classic canton &mandarin dishes . Crispy Duck,Moo Shu , General Tso,big shrimp, egg foo yung, LoMein--all great ! Lunch combos are VERY AFFORDABLE ! Make most dinner options a "combo" (including : soup, cheese wonton& egg roll & fried rice ) for just $2 extra .Their delish soups are are just $1.50 for a small. We love the PuPu platter , an assortment of many different appetizers for $6 a person. We get that, and share a generously portioned entree.FREE HOT TEA ! Old school all the way! Family operated, they really work for & appreciate their customers. Great for Take-out too !

Well the end of an era for Columbine Gardens. They have recently sold the restaurant to new owners. I wish I could say the food even looks similar, but it doesn't. It was all oily with no flavor. The kung pao had pretty much no heat, the dumplings, which were my favorite I've ever had tasted like they were from a bag (and no longer pork anymore). The lemon chicken which was the best, is now with less chicken and the sauce was disgusting. The sauce use to be a citrus deliciousness that while sweet, still had enough tang. Now it looks like a cup full of syrup. The portion sizes alone have shrunk. They use different containers, which are smaller and plastic. Nothing was as good as it was just a month ago. My family and I have been eating here for 20+ years and tonight was the last time. Haha its so lame but we were all literally depressed! Chinese from here use to be a big treat. Suggestion to the new owners: You bought a turn key business with a dedicated local following. Why would you change ANYTHING? I get portion sizes, packaging, etc. But the most important part was the food. We will be eating at Panda Express over this now. Bummer..

We went to this restaurant for the first time the other night and it will be the last. It's too bad because the food was very good, but the attitude of the staff was horrendous. We entered the restaurant at 8:15 pm; we figured that we had enough time to enjoy our meal since they didn't close until 9:00. The hostess didn't look happy at all and acted as though we were putting her out for coming into the restaurant. Immediately after we were seated, the server came to the table and asked if we were ready to order. I said that we hadn't even opened up our menus yet. He said "Well, the kitchen closes in 10 min.". I was pretty shocked and I should have know to leave right then and there. We began looking at our menus and the server came back over in one minute asking us if we were ready to order. I was somewhat speechless and he said "The more you look at the menu, the more confused you get and it takes you more time to decide". We just randomly picked some entrees and hoped we'd like them. The service from there on was o.k. , but very rushed. The food was good and the beverages refilled promptly. But then, we were not even finished with our meals and the table was cleared. So even though the food was good, we will not be going back. We felt that it was horribly rude to treat customers in that manner. When you pay that much money for dining out these days(and the food is not cheap here), you do not want to be pushed out the door and feel that you are an inconvenience to the staff.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
