This restaurant always makes it on our list of places to stop while visiting Lafayette. Just note, that they close after the lunch rush and open again for dinner. The buffet is filled with vegetarian and no-vegetarian options. The chai has endless refills and the nan is always beautifully made. Would it there everyday if I lived nearby. The staff is really friendly too.

Consistently excellent food and service. We usually order take out for a Indian feast at home but enjoy the atmosphere and service when we eat at the restaurant.

Best Indian food I've ever had, awesome service, great decor. I love this place, and always recommend it to everyone.

Great food, super convenient. Makes adaptions to make dishes healthier (coconut milk) which is really cool. Everything Ive had has been great. The rice is wonderful and they give you so much its crazy. Have never eaten here, always take it to go, but the ambiance is great and I definitely plan to eat there soon!

Came here for their lunch buffet. Very pleased! Their rice has whole eggs in it. Maybe that's traditional and I've been missing out this entire time. All renditions of chicken were delicious, not overcooked, and full of flavor. Saag was great and rice pudding was also tasty. I will come back for more lunches!

This is the best Indian food around! It became our favorite take out place. Although, dining in is very pleasant! Their tiki masala is amazing!!! And the samosas are the best i've ever had.

Honestly not very good. We chose based on the on-line menu, prices good, nice selection. Nothing bad to report but this is pretty much Indian baby food. No spice, no flavor, lacking the complexity that makes you want to come back. So while affordable we left thinking there is a reason, it's because the food is subpar. Not for me.

Great Indian restaurant! Great service, delicious tasting food for eat in or take out dinner. Ambiance is very quiet and pretty. We are regulars, generally get veggie samosas, saag paneer, chaana masala, chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, veg korma. All wonderful!

I typically get take out, occasionally dine in. Have not tried the lunch buffet. The food is legit. Best Indian food I have had in Colorado. Service is solid, and the atmosphere is nice if you are dining in. But you should really come here if you want good Indian food outside of the UK or India.

Every meal I have had in here has been great. Good selection of dishes and attentive staff. One of our favorite local restaurants.

The quality seems to fluctuate for other area Indian restaurants. The Taj Mahal III, however, has consistently delivered delicious food for the last 12+ years. We order takeout about 50% of the time, but when we do eat at the restaurant, the service is consistently good. The chai is delicious and creamy, the saag is wonderful, and the vegetarian dishes are always very tasty and well prepared.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Colorado. The food is always good, and the menu is very extensive. In fact the biggest problem here is deciding which of the many dishes to choose, but whatever I have ordered has always been well prepared, and remarkably inexpensive. They have a long and varied list of vegetarian options. I have never been disappointed here. The staff are friendly, attentive, and efficient. Unfortunately I moved away from the area and cannot get to this restaurant as often as I would like, but if I have an excuse to be back there, I try to be there around dinner time so I can go to the Taj Mahal.

2012 Review #214: I'm a bit divided on this place because each of my two visits was very different. The first time we came a bit late on a Saturday for the buffet, and it was consistent all around. The naan they gave us was fresh, and it was definitely a 4 star experience. My visit last Friday though, was not as stellar. I came just after the main lunch rush, around 1:00 or so, maybe a bit before. I got water and such very quickly. I tried most of what they had for food. Some things really stood out and were outstanding: the pakora was crispy and fresh, the saag was some of the best I've had, and the daal was very good. Most other things though, fell very flat or worse. The samosa was not fresh, the filling was just bland and not interesting; the tandoori chicken was fine, but the masalaa/makhani made with it was not good; the "gobi manchurian' which was semi-battered spicy cauliflower was old and the breading was soggy. When they brought my naan, it was just warm and had no crispiness, so clearly was not made to order. It wasn't worth eating. I tried some kheer, which was also bland, no spices or added nuts or raisins (even if that's not authentic I still like it). The gulab jamun (which I always choose to float in my kheer like little dumplings) was so sweet. Maybe the syrup is too much, or they had been soaking too long? Again, not worth eating. It's a cheaper buffet compared to other options in the area/Boulder, but it's inconsistent. I might try it again if I really have a hankering, but otherwise I'd rather just go to Azitra and skip the buffet.

This place is a solid 3, I agree. The decor is subdued and comfortable inside. It is a calming place to dine, unlike a lot of noisy bistros or restaurant bars in the area of Louisville or Lafayette. It is one of my wife's and my favorite places in the area. You won't find TV's stuck to the walls, just the background noise of the central fountain. More restaurants should follow this model in my opinion... It is a very good experience for the price. My wife and I often have entrees for two, perhaps a beer or tea, and the bill is around $30. A very good bargain. Venturing a little off the beaten path of the menu pays off. One of my favorites is Potato Manchurian if you're in the mood for heat. This is a place to linger over conversation. If you want an in-and-out rush you would be happier elsewhere. This is actually a *good* thing in my opinion because the food is NOT pre-made here. If you want it made for you, you have to wait. Food is always hot, (meaning temperature) which is something I'm picky about. CONS: Service is sometimes slow. You have to be prepared for this up front. Lunch buffet is sometimes hit or miss. I usually find a few things I like but if they happen to get a big group or crowd, they sometimes have trouble keeping the buffet stocked and can run low on things.

Just thinking about this place makes me happy. It's the best chicken tikka masala, hands down. I order "hot" and it is the perfect amount of spice. Not just good service, but very reasonable dinner prices as well.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Great food, authentic indian cuisine. We have take out about twice a month from here and dine in occasionally as well. The Chicken Tikka Masala is great, I am a huge fan of the mushroom matter. Excellent Garlic naan and Kabli Naan, really every dish we have had is wonderful and the service is outstanding

If you haven't been here, you are missing out. Ever since the Royal Peacock on Arapahoe shut down/changed ownership, we've been looking for a replacement. This place is better. Haven't been for their lunch buffet, but their dinners are so good, we try to spend as much money there as we can 1) to help out a great restaurant, and 2) because the leftovers are sooo bomb. I work with tons of foodies and they all agree this place is wonderful. The chicken curry is spot on, the appetizer wings are fantastic, naan is great, and the lamb masala is very good, even if it does get a little tomatoey tasting once in a while. Don't get the wings to go though. Did I mention this place is immaculate? It really wreaks of attention to detail and pride. It's very nice to see that after dropping $150 at that dumpy Moroccan place on 28th st. and Valmont where the owners kids were running around, there was no light on going towards the bathroom, and the bathroom was atrocious, not to mention the food sucked. Forget the name of it.

I have mixed feelings about the Taj Mahal 3. On the one hand, the food is generally very good, especially at dinner when it's fresh. On the other hand, the service is very slow and I find the restaurant not at all kid-friendly. It's also a little pricey at dinner. We recently ate there with friends visiting from Australia because we wanted to give them as close to "authentic" Indian as we could. The food is very tasty; I had the chicken tikka masala and it was delicious, as was the matter paneer and the dal. We had mild food so we could share with our kids and the spice level was actually just right for me--much more might have been too much. However, it took almost an hour for us to sit down, order, and be served. Several other guests were served before we were. My kids didn't get plates or cups of water (which just irritates the heck out of me no matter where we dine--kids are people, too). And the menu is really not kid-friendly for littler kids. My girls like Indian food, but it was really hard to guess what they might eat and how spicy it might be. We settled on a cup of dal for my daughter, and when it came out, it was so hot it literally burned my lips. We had to wait another 20 minutes for it to cool down enough so she could attempt to eat it--even with the addition of the ice from our water glasses. In the end, we had a good visit, with tasty food, and we will undoubtedly be back, but if you're looking for Indian in the Boulder area, I feel both the Taj and Sherpa's give this place a run for its money.

A solid 3 stars. Atmosphere and decor are lovely, service attentive. Food - not the best I've had of this cuisine, but passable. The naan in particular was dry and thin. I would probably opt for Tibet's, given a choice.

Let me start off by saying that this review is for Lunch buffet. We were feeling like Indian food and I was not in a mood to cook an elaborate lunch. It was rainy and some hot Indian food was surely going to help lift up our spirits. The atmosphere was great. Lot of people dining, a fireplace and a great aroma as soon as you go in, hits your hungry senses. So far so good. I beam at my SO with a look that says.. could this be true! Have we really found a place where we can eat Indian food regularly. He smiles and says, don't get ahead of yourself. You never know! And off we trot to the table. Now the good : The wait staff is attentive. They did not let our empty plates sit for long, they kept refilling our water, and they even offered us a chai or mango lassi . The Buffet is set up well and food is warm at all times. The chicken curry with potatoes tasted great and so did the naan. The Kheer is delicious. That's where the bubble burst. Now the bad: Despite being a lunch hour, there were no naans near the buffet. You ask the waiter, and he brings two pcs of naan to our table of three. So you gently remind him. He smiles goes back , gets one more. The tandoori chicken - while its not as dry as it is at other Indian restaurants, its not Tandoori chicken. I am in fact awed by the fact that in a country where everyone rates juicy bites of meats as the best ones, where every home cook or chef strives to achieve the perfect bite of a juicy steak, or moist chicken - HOW DO THEY EAT THIS DRY OVER COLORED CHICKEN ?? WHY???? Never mind my shouting.. I can be bitchy about the tandoori chicken. Since their tandoori chicken is nothing to talk about, their chicken makhani also falls flat on its face and so did the saag paneer. Greasy mushy cooked to death spinach!! Save me! The vegetable pakode were loaded with oil and tasteless. This is an Indian food restaurant that has some promise. Some of the food is good. And some of it , seriously bad. I may try it once more for dinner and see if they fare any better. I hope so for my sake!

Got some lentil soup...reasonably priced and quite tasty. Sad part was I found a hair in my soup. I fished it out and kept eating. Growing up going to Chinese restaurants this is normal, so it didn't phase me too much!

SATURDAY Jan 23rd 2010 : 7 friends and I head down to Louisville, CO for dinner as part of (International Cuisine Enthusiasts) meetup. I arrived early as per normal. This time around, the seating arrangement was so close to the bar area at the other side of the restaurant near to the mini water fall. The service was prompt and polite. Unfortunately, one of the waitstaff seems to rush us with regards when placing or changing the appetizer plates and the main entree plates. My frens at our table ordered these, if I could recall correctly : * Vegetable Assorted Platters * Mulligtawny Maghlai Soup * Garlic Naan * Paratha * Tandoori Mixed Grill * Shrimp Saag * Bharta Makhni * Mango Kufli * Gulab Jamun This time around I opt for : * Vegetable Samosas * Lamb Boti Bhuna The Vegetable Samosas is OK and the Lamb Boti Bhuna is flavorful but its not as spicy as I want to. I also purchased, Lamb Biryani to go after the dinner for Hubs to eat at home. From what I gather the feedback from my friends, some of their food is bland, the food is either too salty, like the fish found in the Tandoori Mixed Grill and the rest is A-OK on what they ordered. Above anything else, I still like this place though the food can be slighlty better. Perhaps the next time I go to Taj Mahal 3, I will opt for the lunch buffet since that was what being highly recommended by my dear fren. Still between 3.5 till 3.75 stars for ambience, food, and service. A 4 star since they ALLOW separate checks for the whole table and this is an added bonus in my BOOKS.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is very friendly and remembers you once you've been in a few times. When we get take out we often get a free bottle of beer to take home as a token of their appreciation - classy. The food is always good. And when you eat in, the ambiance is peaceful and beautiful. I've been to "better" Indian restaurants, but not in Colorado. And for Taj it is the combo of service, food quality, and atmosphere that makes this place so special.

Time and time again, this remains my favorite restaurant in the Louisville, Lafayette area. I have never had a dish here that was not delicious. I am an Indian food lover and this is one of the best Indian restaurants I have found. Decor and atmosphere are beautiful and relaxing - including beautiful scale model of the actual Taj Majal, indoor fountain, etc. Love everything about this restaurant.

Our favorite local Indian restaurant. Diverse menu, plenty of options, and all with an authentic home cooked feel. The decor has the Indian vibe, and there's a Taj Mahal in the middle. Ok maybe hokey but we like the ambience as it matches & enhances the experience. Favorites: mulligatawny soup, their curry and their bhuna, the tandoori items. Decent wine list and the usual beer. Room for improvement: ditch the service cart for busing and don't sort silverware adjacent to the dining area. Both are noisy and diminish the peaceful dining. Overall the service and staff and solid, I like the toweling of the pates as they are placed in front of you, nice luxury touch for under $20 entrees.

I love this place! The decor is beautiful, you can tell they take pride in having a clean, attractive setting. The staff is wonderful as well. Always very friendly and accomadating. They rememvber every customer, and treat you like family. I'm surprised another reviewer thought it was not kid friendly. I always go there w/ my 4 kids, the youngest are 2 & 5, and the staff always seems happy to see them, they pretty much know our "usual" order by heart, a couple of entrees, the kids always get the chicken soup, and of course we order samosas and naan. They have really good red wine, we usually get either Gabbiano or Ruffino and it's very reasonably priced. The food is delicious!

My favorite restaurant in the world! Mushroom matter and the eggplant dish are my two favorites. I always get great service and if you don't have the time, you can order takeout. Thanks Taj Mahal!

First, let me share that Indian food is not at the top of my "favorite food" list & I reluctantly (yet politely) go to Indian Restaurants as my other half adores it. So, I'm back in town, we have out-of-town company with us & I agree to go to Taj Mahal (it's been about a month since our last visit). I'm not feeling "in the mood" for Indian, but I can tell my boyfriend really wants to go. Fast forward to the middle of the meal .... I'm in heaven & thankful I didn't steer us in another restaurant direction. The food is wonderful, the service is impeccable & the facility is clean (always is). The Garlic Naan & Saag Paneer is to die for. The Chicken Tikka Masala is perfectly prepared, as is everything else we order. They were out of our favorite beer, Kingfisher, but recommended Flying Horse and it was a big hit. Rice pudding was quite tasty & that's coming from someone who doesn't even like rice pudding. The decor in the this restaurant is definitely a few notches above any other Indian restaurant I've been to in my life. The people who run it are always super nice & helpful. I confess I will be returning in the near future.

I am offended by this place because as an Indian, I know with all my heart that Indian food is the best kind of food one can eat in terms of flavor profiles and variety. So manay vegetarian options, even more meat options. But judging just from the lunch buffet, this place is an embarassment. The chicken tandoori - Clearly day old. The curry chicken in the buffet, also clearly day old pieces of chicken tandoori with the bones taken out, meaning no FRESH boneless breast of chicken. The Saag paneer in the buffet - not paneer at all. I think they spread some cottage cheese or something on top but we have ordered the saag paneer off of the menu and it is absolutely different...it actully has paneer in it. The daal, vege dish and rice are all forgettabale. TAJ MAHAL 3 , please make a better effort of cooking your buffet items fresh THAT morning, you are giving people the wrong idea abaout Indian food nd doing a disservice to all that is beautiful and glorious about it! Yes, staff is kind and friendly, I will give them that and the interior does indeed have a very nice ambiance. But that doesnt forgive serving people food that isnt fresh!

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN BOULDER COUNTY! I love this place! I work around the corner and this is my go to lunch or dinner spot any day! Chicken Tikki Masala and Saag are true classics. The minute you walk into the door of this restaurant, the aromas and ambiance consume your well being as if you were in a true Indian Restaurant. Manager/Staff are very friendly. Truly a great place to go! (New Location opened in Boulder too!!)

This restaurant's food has been great every time, and very reasonably priced. The interior is nicely decorated, and the wait staff is very friendly. The one time I have ordered out, they even threw in a free bomber of beer! This is easily the best Indian food within easy reach of Lafayette.

Delicious! I eat a lot of Indian food, but there aren't a lot of great places around the Boulder area. So far we have had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Curry, and they were really great. And great Naan! Definitely a great place for good Indian!

Always tasty, buffet lunch in pleasant surroundings, available 7 days a week. The servers remember you, even when it's been a while. But sadly can only give one star after suffering from a bout of gastroenteritis following my last visit :0(

I first went along to the Taj Mahal as an invite of the Boulder Brits Club. It's a long time since I've had Indian, and the buffet food they served was fantastic - great flavors. I think they were a bit surprised when we turned up twice more within about one week - first because my wife wanted to go there for her Birthday meal, and again when my parents visited from England. Highly recommended.

  • Rogan J.

The decor inside was nice; it made up for the outside and the tucked away location. I thought it was the Taj 1, but apparently it is the Taj III, and two of the lights were out. I hope there is only one! The waiters seemed friendly. I ordered the Taj salad, and it had nothing indian about it. It was drowned in thousand island and ranch, same salad you can get at Denny's. I had the Chicken Tikka Sag. It tasted like the sag came from a can. The chicken tasted like it was microwaved, cut up and dropped into the sag. It was chewy and bland. Naan was okay and rice was rice! Not worth $20 at all. The waiter did bring me a free rice pudding with the bill of course.

  • Robert B.

Decent, tasty Indian. Anywhere else it would be middle-of-the-road but here it's about the best I've had. If you're hungry for something with flavor, give it a shot, you won't be sorry. Service was excellent, on numerous occasions.

Love Taj Mahal 3. I have been here 8 or 9 times in 3 months...We go for lunch as often as possible...What a great deal!!!! $8 for an all you can eat buffet. Food is great. They always have a wonderful chicken dish, rice and lentil dish with amazing rice pudding for dessert. Dinner is amazing too, just a little more expensive then I like to spend for a casual dinner. But my boyfriend and I try and share one dish with naan and it usually enough. Friendly Staff and they make great recommendations. I highly recommend and will be back lots!

Okay so I finally got to try the lunch buffet. 11:00-2:30pm $8.95 The Good They have Kheer (rice pudding) on the buffet. They also have vegetable (really just onion that I saw) pakoras that are good also on the buffet. The Bad The rice wasn't moist and some grains were dry/crunchy? Edible, but to my recollection the rice was fine when I ordered to go. The Ugly Yes, for the love of God add a little spice/variety to the offerings. A potato dish would be welcome or a Vindaloo. As others have said, they don't add any "hotness" to their dishes and perhaps with their clientele it is wise? They aren't bland, just not hot at all. One dish that I have had before elsewhere was on the buffet and was just too sweet without some additional spice. They brought me a small plate with a few pieces of Naan, but I LOVE Naan. So either bring me more when my plate is empty or put it on the buffet where we can get more at whim. In all, I would go back. Compliments to the waitstaff, my water glass was never empty or even near empty for more than 5 seconds.

  • Ryan R.

Unfortunately the lunch buffet items really lack spice and flavor. They charged me alot for my kids even after calling and double checking the prices. My kids eat very little- so to be charged for an adult meal for my 10 year old that eats 1/2 cup rice and one tandoori drumstick is excessive. Especially when I called and they said kids were $5 and little kids $2. If my child ate as much as an adult I wouldn't mind or if they would have told me on the phone when I asked, I would have been prepared to suck it up or choose somewhere different for lunch. Back to the food though...we wouldn't go back. I'm sorry to say that as I love to find family owned restaurants and support them. Between being charged alot for lunch when told otherwise and bland Indian food, it just wouldn't be worth it.

Buffet is okay... The main curry is watered down for some reason... I don't like it. Everything else is mediocre.

I guess I'll be a dissenter here. My wife and I have been here a few times. Partly because I'm a fan of Samosa's and this seems to be the only other place in town that puts them on the buffet. Unfortunately the food is generally not hot. We've asked about it and they've indicated they're concerned about the patrons so they don't keep things too hot. The selection is smaller that other places I've been to and the food is ok. They are prompt to bring the bill though which is a plus.

  • Angela P.

Absolutely delicious. This is our go-to restaurant when we can't think of anywhere else to go. It's consistent, they give us plain lassi without asking too many questions, and the prices are pretty good. Plus they give you pudding at the end! Who doesn't like pudding? I always get the lamb masala, and it's always fantastic. Highly recommended.

Taj Mahal 3 is my family's favorite Indian restaurant in the area (Boulder County for us). We enjoy their menu across the board, including some items we usually don't like--for example, chicken tandoori can really vary across restaurants--sometimes its dry. But it's very moist at Taj 3, and there's a great tandoori plate that comes out sizzling (kind of like a fajita plate) with chicken, lamb, fish, and season onions. Some of the other family favorites here are the malai kofta (veggie dumplings) in a tasty korma-like sauce, the various kormas, the usual Indian restaurant standbys such as chicken vindaloo and keema matter (minced lamb w/peas)) The place has grown over the years--the decor has become much nicer. The staff is friendly and it seems clear they have a strong core of regular customers who love the place as much as we do. My wife and I had our first date at an Indian restaurant (different state); when we celebrate our anniversary, we always visit an Indian restaurant. Taj Mahal 3 has been our choice for the last 7-8 years.

I literally start to water at the mouth when I think about the food at Taj Mahal 3. It is so good! I have tried multiple dishes because of the lunch buffet, but when I go for dinner, I always stick to one of my favorite chicken dishes. You cannot go wrong with any of the chicken entrees. I also love the naan, mango lassis, Taj salad and pretty much anything else I have tried here. The atmosphere is amazing. It is such a cozy restaurant with a water fountain and a fireplace. My favorite time to go is when it is snowing because it is so nice to be surrounded by the warm atmosphere and watch the flakes fall outside. Too bad I am writing this during summer. I still love going anytime though. The service I have experienced has always been consistently good--everyone is always attentive, friendly and helpful with any questions. They also do take-out, which is very convenient.

This is the best Indian restaurant in the Denver metro area. I have been going here for 9 years (at an average of once a week) and have never been disappointed. Ali, the owner is very friendly as are the servers. If you go there more than once, you will get treated like family. The decor has been drastically changed over the last one year. It is very nice for a restaurant located in a strip mall. The lunch buffet includes salad, various chutneys, dessert, a couple of meat/chicken dishes and plenty of veggies. The dinner menu is extensive and almost everything can be ordered spiced to your preference. I have tasted every single dish they serve and it is all good :-) My personal favorites are the Chicken Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Mughlai, Lamb Vindaloo and the Taj Paratha (bread stuffed with shredded Tandoori chicken). The Biryanis are also very good. They have lamb and meat samosas that are to die for. The regular veggie samosa are also very good. If you like Indian food, you should give this one a try.

I travel all over...the people here, Ali, Mea, etc, are all fantastic. They remember us by name and always treat us like family. For those who say service is slow; a family owned restaurant that you go to "starving" and you wonder why it takes so long..umm...well... I have to say it's wonderful to see them prosper when many restaurants are suffering. My wife and I truly feel like family there. As for the food..amazing. Really amazing. We love the entire menu, Tika Masala, Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, Samosas, Malagatani Soup....Awesome. You cannot believe this place is in a stripmall. The decor inside far exceeds any expectation.

I ate here with my husband and another couple about two weeks ago on a Friday night at 7pm. This is the 2nd Indian food place I have eaten at in the Louisville area (the other is closer to hwy 36 and Mcaslin and the name changes frequently). The decor is typical ornate Indian, including a miniature replica of the Tah Mahal. Seating is cozy and comfortable and we sat in a half booth near the fireplace which was nice and warm on this cold winter night. We were seated and brought water immediately. One waiter came back a few minutes later to take our order and brought with him a plate of 4 papadums (the thin crispy tortillia sized crackers) along with some Cilantro Mint Chutney and Tamarind Chutney. We weren't ready to order and asked him to come back. After that, we were practically ignored for another 10 minutes as none of the servers came near our table. Finally one came back to take the order. I ordered the Tandori Mahi Mahi and it was delicious. The sauce it came with was sweet and slightly spicy. I ordered it with a side of Roti (wheat naan flatbread) and I only ate half of the order of fish and took the rest home for lunch the next day. They brought out one pot of basmati rice for the whole table, and frequently offered refills of the rice. My husband ordered Chicken Curry and he ordered it "hot." He was disappointed with how mild it was with hardly any hot spiciness. We're from Texas and he likes his hot to be HOT. Other than the lack of spicy hottness, the food was tasty. After dinner they brought each of us a small bowl of Kheer (Indian Rice Pudding) which I thought was quite tasty. Slightly sweet and creamy. Overall the service was average and sometimes difficult to get the attention of any server, and the food was tasty.

Love this place. Been going here for several years. Great staff. Excellent food. Elegant atmosphere, but not stuffy. Indian food is one of my favorite ethnic cuisines and this place is a go to, in this area, for me to satisfy my cravings. If you like Indian food go here and enjoy. If you don't like Indian food, go here and learn to!

I have been visiting this restaurant since about middle school when it opened and have had my fair share of good Indian food while in California, though I think this place is still my favorite Indian food restaurant. They used to offer a $5.95 lunch buffet that included so many wonderful options that you had to carry three plates to your table just to get everything you wanted. The best though was their amazing Saag. - Saag is some spinach Indian thing, and they make it to perfection! During my cousin's only visit to Colorado I took her here for lunch, she asked the waiter, "how do you make this?? Because when I try to make spinach it sure as heck tastes nothing like this!!" Anyways, I highly recommend this place if you're craving good ethnic food. Enjoy!

Quite possibly the best Indian food in the Boulder/Lafayette/Louisville area. At the recommendation of several Indian coworkers who had stated the same thing, my wife an I tried the Taj 3 out on a weeknight. While the restaurant itself was a little quiet - we were early, it was a Wedesday or something? - the food and service was excellent. I've also been twice during the lunch buffet and it was quite worth the 20min drive to get there and back. Definitely a favorite of ours now!

The service here was awesome and the decor was beautiful. It has a really friendly feel. Then the food came out, and it was awesome too. So far our favorite Indian food joint in the area. the prices are totally reasonable. They are closed in between lunch and dinner though, so check the hours before you go.

The food is great, the service is horrible - period. DO NOT go if you are starving, you'll end up eating your face off before anyone stops by to taunt you with the possibility of a beverage. But, the food is wonderful and it is the only Indian place I'll go.

Very good, reasonably-priced Indian food. Atmosphere is dim, cozy. Seating is comfortable. I love to eat here in the winter - hot food, fireplace, oil lamps. Service is excellent. Food is consistently good. It's certainly not a "kid" restaurant, but they have always been very accommodating to my young child. He likes the chicken pakora. Chai is fab - unsweetened, the way I like it. Only one thing that keeps this restaurant from getting 5 stars is inconsistency in terms of spiciness. Sometimes I ask for hot and get mild. Sometimes I ask for hot and get HOT! I'm not sure why this is. I find it slightly weird that I've never seen a woman working there. Never. Where are they?

This place is the real deal. We were nervous about finding descent Indian coming from Ca to little Louisville Co and totally lucked out with the Taj. I'm not going to bother commenting about the buffet lunch (I've had it and like all Indian places the buffet is two or three notches removed from the core made to order goodness). But the dinners are awesome and a great value. We order from here weekly at minimum - the wife typically picks up my order on her way home (that's my share of the cooking) because were so close but the place is clean and has nice decor if you choose to eat in. And if eating in you should note they aren't pounding you with the Bollywood like most places - very tranquil. Anyway the food is outstanding and I have tried just about everything. Serious taste, serious spice (if you go medium or higher) and seriously legit boneless white meat chicken breast in the Tikka (no mystery meat). Genuinely gracious staff are the icing on the cake. Wife reports they shout a friendly "Mike!" at her every time she comes for pick up but they comp a cold 24oz Taj Mahal or Flying Horse without fail so were more than willing to go with it - or at least I am.

We have been going to the Taj Mahal for 20 years. It's the only place we even bother to go to for Indian food. Every time we dine here we are welcomed by name and the service is wonderful. I went to Taj Mahal tonight to have dinner with some friends however we found it close earlier than normal hours, why? They were cleaning at food serving hours. The only thing we could do is to order to go orders. We ordered lamb baryani, chicken baryani, chicken Tikka Masala and white rice, Naan bread. Me and my friends were really upset. I think the service is going down.

Our favorite Indian restaurant! The Taj always has great food and service. We have been gong here for years with our kids (11 and 5) and all love the food. We generally don't eat at buffets, but love the lunch buffet as we get to try many different items.

I love coming here! The food is fantastic, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere can be relaxed or formal, depending on your mood. My favorite dishes are the lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, and any of their tandoori. Of course, no meal is complete without naan!

Pretty expensive (over 10 for weekday lunch) for the food you get. Plain Indian and there are too many chicken dishes. Finally I was lingering on this sauteed broccoli with onion and garlic. It's the only light dish in the whole buffet counter.

Really good lunch buffet. All the items were fresh and tasty. Service was good. Would like to have seen some spicier dishes on the buffet for those who like some heat. And I would prefer the gulab jamun offered warm, but glad they offer them at all. Solid food, will go back when in the area.

The most consistently awesome curry in the entire area, and very well-deserving of its lofty reputation. The Chicken Tikka Saag is my go-to, but more obscure items like the Bharta Makhani (eggplant with butter) are excellent (and rare at other curry houses). Also, there are 13 varieties and variations of naan, each of which complements the other menu items in a different way. The complimentary rice pudding dessert is always the perfect texture. Perhaps the most powerful vote of confidence for the "Taj III" -- I walked in for the buffet one evening and was surrounded by British people (a "curry club"), and they know the great curry from the plebeian curry :-)

  • Michael R.

We took our new son-in-law and his family here and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. There is a smile and amazing food waiting for us each time.

What good service. Two happy families enjoying good food. The meat samosa and chicken tandoori were hits. Always enjoy the lamb saag spicy.
