This restaurant is the re-creation of an old gas station into the Colorado-dream bar and restaurant! I say that because the building is about one third of the seating area and the rest is outside! That is how we like to live here in our sun-shinning-state! The food is pretty good. My favorite dish are the chili shrimp tacos. Their margaritas are outstanding, too! Get the spicy one with jalapenos! The photos published are from their 'Disco' night. Not sure if that is actually what they call it - but they have a DJ and move away the tables so that everyone can dance. FUN!

Great food and margaritas :) sounds strange but the fried egg on the chicken mole enchilada is a really nice touch and adds a creamy richness

I took my two boys aged 5 and 7 there last week for dinner. When we sat down I asked for kids menus and the server said that there weren't any, but there were kids options. Upon hearing choices, we went for the cheeseburgers for the kids. I asked the server if the burgers came with lettuce and tomato. She responded that they came with burger and cheese and that was it. I ordered the enchiladas which were supposed to be the specialty. I also ordered salsa and chips. Salsa was way hot for the "house salsa". I like hot salsa, but this was heat minus taste. The burgers arrived and they looked like they were between 1-2 pound and 3/4 pound meat patties. Like ginormous. Neither kid liked the burgers because they tasted "sour". I took a bite and the bottom of the burgers were coated with Dijon mustard. I asked the server to scrape it off and replace the bottom bun. 15 minutes later, our server (who was really nice btw) brought out new burgers. Kids were tired and ate about 2 bites apiece. At some point in the meal, the manager came to our table and apologized profusely for our experience and that it wasn't up to their standards. My neighbors love this place. I will probably give them another shot, but that wasn't a great first impression. The restaurant's heart is in right place, I just wish the food hit the right spot too.

Great service for happy hour. My girlfriend and I ordered various tacos. Yum! We'll be back.

My wife says the chicken mole is good, but that was her assessment from a previous visit here. Based on this I had some high expectations when the both of us went to dinner. The service was reasonable, and the wait staff was friendly. However, the food was just bland. I ordered a green chile pork dish and received mostly rice, beans and a bland green chile sauce. Along side of main dish I also had 2 very small flour tortillas. Generally, when this type of dish is served, one receives tortillas and when those run out, more are offered. I did not get any additional tortillas so what I was confronted with was a bland dish of rice and beans with some "green chile" sauce. We also ordered blackberry margaritas which were so-so. I won't be back again.

The food is excellent. However, the service is hit-or-miss. I've eaten here about 7 times. Twice, the service was slow. The staff is friendly, though. Yesterday we waited an inordinate amount of time for service. I suspected no wait person had been assigned to our table. So I approached a waiter named Fred who said (1) he'd get somebody over and (2) that they were short-handed. After a while he asked if we'd been served. We had not so he said he'd refill our margarita's (which we bought from the bar before being seated). He also took our orders. We all (three of us) assumed he was refilling them for free to atone for the long wait. However, when I got the bill, there was nothing for free. So I felt a little misled. I can't swear Fred ever used the word "free" but we all felt he implied they would be. That said, I think Fred was the one who took charge of our problem and handled himself well. He's a good wait person.

We had lunch here last week and this was one of THE WORST dining experiences I've ever had. To start, we were seated in the back of the restaurant with multiple flies buzzing around the entire time, some of which landed on our food. We ordered a appetizer which was not only disappointing taste wise, but came out cold. We ordered 2 lunch burritos and a taco plate. When the food came out, one of the burritos was missing. The burrito we did have was cold in the middle and after 15 minutes of not seeing the waitress, we found another server to send it back to the kitchen and asked the other burrito order be canceled due to time constraints. 10 minutes later, the 2nd burrito came out (the one we cancelled) and it came out cold in the middle. Finally, the waitress came over and we sent all the food back, including the taco plate which was also cold. It appears the lunch burritos were made the previous day and were heated up for the lunch special. This would't be the end of the world if only they were heated properly. The service as especially poor given the small amount of patrons and slow lunch hour. In summary: Service: F Sanitary: F Food: F Overall: F We won't be back.

Delicious food, decent drinks and service with reasonable prices! I was out with a group of 8 and the seating was a bit slow. Our server was great and gave good direction to several in our party to go with the Mahi FIsh Taco special instead of the regular menu ones. I enjoyed a Papa's Burrito and house margarita. Good placement of heaters around the outdoor seating area. I look forward to another meal.

Recently stopped in for a breakfast burrito and I must say it's the best I ever had. It was mammoth - had sausage, shrimp, guacamole, beans and much more in it. Super delicious. We also had micheladas. What I disliked: the place was not very clean. Our table was sticky and had crumbs all over it and they had a serious fly problem, which is super gross. I can appreciate that they have an open patio, so bugs will get in. But I hate having to swat away flies with every bite of food...

We love La Rev. The carnitas tacos are amazing as are the braised short rib enchiladas. My only gripe is the service. Lunch time service is pretty good. Dinner service is soooo slow. We keep going back because it's good - love the micheladas and the tequila menu, but always leave wishing for more attentive service. The last time we visited the waitress brought out my husbands' food first and then my daughter and I waited almost 10 minutes for our food to come. The waitress just said she was really busy - no apology.

Stopped in for an afternoon margarita & snack. Drink was good. Nice fresh chips & salsa. Service was very slow. One person in my party had to ask several times for his tap beer. This was supposed to be comped but was not. Ended up going to the bar to get the check as waitress was nowhere to be found. Since I was visiting from out of state this was disappointing.

Dined here for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon with a group of six. Waitress McKenzie was very prompt and friendly, food came out very fast. Granted there were only four other tables with customers sitting outside with us. The carne asada burritos and tacos were awesome, the burritos gigantic! Loved it and will visit again next time in Colorado.

Tried once. Vowed to never go back. But LuLu's is getting deservedly competitive especially during family hours. So here we were against my better judgment. Mortified my out of town guests had to endure not only their notorious service but their baffling food spanning tasteless to awful. Mexican food really only gets screwed up when gringos get involved and this place is no exception to that rule. Easily the most disgusting fish tacos I have ever attempted to eat. You will see this place packed with people who look like they are eating descent food. Just keep walking.

The margarita's are weak. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The patio space is nice and there are tv's to catch a game as well.

Me and my friend went to La Revolucion on a Sunday for brunch, and overall the experience was good. We were immediately seated and given water on the patio, but it took nearly 20 minutes for our waitress to come and take drink and food orders from us. However, our waitress was very friendly and attentive the rest of the meal so we let that go. We got the breakfast burrito with chili, and it was incredibly good. The food took an average amount of time to make (15 minutes). The burrito was bigger than a chipotle burrito for around the same price and it looked amazing. All of the ingredients were hot and fresh. It was an incredible breakfast burrito, probably the best I ever had. I will probably be returning just so I can taste that amazing burrito a again. This is a great place for brunch.

I come here all the time and always receive good service and excellent food! The fundido is one of the most delicious things I have ever had in my mouth, and I literally dream about it. The veggie tacos are also amazing! And you can get three for a great price during happy hour!

Fantastic specialty drinks... Friendly bartenders, my favorite place to eat and drink in Old Town Loiusville.

We stopped by for lunch and just as a previous reviewer said, Chipotle is better. El Chingon is better. Pinche tacos is out of this world better. It's hard to screw up street tacos, and they managed to do just that. No flavor, dry tortillas, boring presentation. The kids' meals were worse. Only in Louisville can you get away with "buttered noodles" as an entree for children. Mashed up hamburgers don't pass as tacos either. For "cheffed up" food they really need to find a chef who has actually eaten a taco. Unless you're totally hammered already, La Revolucion is a don't bother.

The menu looked enticing, so we decided to brave the warnings about the service. We have food allergies in the family, so we were pleased to hear the menu was all gluten free (aside from the flour tortillas). We would have called ahead to ask beforehand but they don't have a phone, apparently. We ordered three meals, brought them home and sure enough- they made mistakes with all three orders. After stating several times that our son had a dairy allergy, his carnitas were covered in cheese. I asked for a flour tortilla with my chicken mole plate (corn is my intolerance), and instead got chicken mole enchiladas (a different entree) made with corn tortillas. The mole sauce was tasty. Both salsas we tried, the creamy tomatillo and the pineapple serrano, were wonderful. Their twist on rellenos, with veggies inside in addition to cheese, sounded like a good idea. But although we ordered the crispy (vs. baked) they were soggy and flavorless and seriously lacking in cheesiness! I can say there is potential here, if they get their act together. The menu is creative and after the Cactus Wheel closed, this lovely Old Town area could really use a good nuevo Mexican joint! One final note- I asked for their phone number since it's not listed on Yelp or online. When I called to give them feedback about the food allergy problem, the number went to a woman's voicemail. She did have a Spanish accent, so my guess is it was the owner/manager. I think they should probably spring for a landline if they want a successful business!

La Rev Magarita is out of this world, definitely one of my favorites. The food however is kind of ho-hum. My husband and I have been up here a number of times for happy hour, and while all of their drinks are great(the Rosewater is also a good one), I just don't think their food is all that memorable. La Revolucion is definitely worth a visit though. The outdoor seating is relaxing, the staff is friendly, and they have a good happy hour.

I had a good meal here last Thursday. We showed up kinda early at 5:30 or so, so seating wasn't an issue. We asked for a seat in the shade and the pleasant hostess sat us in a nice spot. The menu was nice, not too complex, however it was a little confusing in the sense that some plates seemed doubled on the list. I ordered a burrito and expected it to come on a plate smothered in a sauce, according to the menu, but it was delivered in a basket. Perhaps I ordered from the wrong part of the menu? No problem though, I asked for a plate and the burrito was quite good. Tasted fresh and delicious. We ordered a few margarita's since it was still happy hour and they were great too. And $4! After dinner our young daughter made friends with another little girl at a nearby table and were running around and playing. The owner came over with a bucket of chalk to keep them occupied. Great gesture! On this trip our server was competent, quick and pleasant, so no problems there. We'll be back!

There was a seating thing. We were supposed to be the "next" table outside, but for some reason, after waiting probably 40 mins, these 3 Andy Warhol look-a-likes all wearing white jeans who had been sitting at the outside bar were seated instead. They must have been kind of a big deal. I Get the whole waiting thing and staff getting it together still, as they are new, so I'm going to give 4 stars because I really enjoyed myself either way. The margs were delish. I ordered veggie tacos with rice and beans and thought they were great. But you know me... my delicate tummy was happy, so that probably means not really spicy... I will go back! And reserve the right to update :) Fae

Thought this place was really good....Went for lunch, so, had no seating or service problems. Can't say how dinner time is. Food was really really good in flavor. Different than the "generic" mexican food. - Seems the owner has some "specialty" dishes that are from old family recipes. We had the mole and the pork w/ chile soup. Both were delicious. Best mole we ever tried! I know it's a newer place, so, maybe the kinks are being worked out, but, our experience was really pretty good.

  • Karen M.

The food was excellent and our server was very good. The outside patio is the best part of the entire restaurant. The chairs are extremely comfortable and the tables are spaced perfectly so you aren't on top of each other. Great people watching location in the middle of all the action in downtown Louisville. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

    (5)
  • Kelly H.

Pretty expensive and not too much of a selection for margs, but if you hit them on happy hour or if you're just going for drinks and apps, it's fantastic.

A small group of my family/friends headed to downtown Louisville for brunch. After discovering The Huckleberry had a hour long wait, we decided to check out La Revolucion's new brunch. I'm so happy we did! We tried the short rib enchiladas, Abuela's enchiladas (chicken mole), and the tequila infused, banana stuffed french toast. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The food certainly earned 4 out of 5 stars, but it was the Bloody Mary that scored that final 5 out of 5 rating. Spicy, tangy, boozy, and lot of "snacks" - all for $5.

This place is way better than the 3 stars it shows right now. I'm new to town from Southern Ca so I know good Mexican food. The Margaritas are amazing and I also loved the chips and all of the home made salsa and guacamole. Happy Hour menu is amazing but everything I have tried has been great. Katreen the bartender Rocks! She actually remembers people's names and is very knowledgeable on the menu.

I've tried this place a couple of times with one being ok and the other bizarre to say the least. Its got a great patio, good happy hour, and a relaxed setting. The first time through was ordinary, but enjoyable even though service was sluggish regardless of how many tables are filled. The second time.... well, probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had. We ordered several items; the guac was dark brown, the drinks were ssslllllooooowww, the tacos smelled off a bit, the quesadilla had sour cream (inside). Bottom line is it just wasn't right for us and our kid wouldn't touch it. No problem so far, we got an off night and just wanted to get out so we could go get something to eat after enjoying some chips and drinks. Luckily, there are tons of good restaurants all over the area. When the waitress noticed we didn't touch anything, we just said it wasn't right and wanted the check. At this point the manager came over to argue about the food. Keep in mind that we weren't challenging the bill, hadn't complained and didn't ask for anything at all other than our check. We actually asked him to leave so we could pay and get out, but, alas, he continued to make a fool of himself; "all guac turns that color of brown even though we just made it fresh", "I sell thousands of taco's each night and I know they're fine". I've never had a manager come by to argue with us before and certainly never told one to get lost so we could pay and leave. We probably wouldn't of come back either way - you just cant be THAT hit or miss for us when the block is full of restaurants. This experience did give us a great story to share with our friends.

I went on a Monday during their happy hour, which goes from 3 PM until close. I tried 3 of the tacos: carne asada, carnitas, and shrimp. My favorite was the carnitas. Their margaritas were pretty tasty too. I would go back for sure.

    (4)
  • Christi L.

Not impressed. Service was poor. Food bland. Rice undercooked. Carne asada very chewy. Burrito supposed to have guac in it and there was maybe a teaspoon. Maybe I got the wrong thing but I will never be back to try something else.

The micheladas aren't really micheladas but the chilaquiles they have for brunch saturday/sunday are very tasty. They have a solid patio and the food is pretty good. Service is hit or miss.

I've been staying with a friend in Louisville and eating out a lot as of late. I'm kind of worn out on Lucky Pie (I kid, who can be tired of that place?), so I figured I'd try out La Revolucion. I was a bit worried about the service myth that's been going around, but I dove in head first and wasn't disappointed. I sat at the bar the first time and a patio table the second go round. Each time was for lunch, and I had no problem with my server's promptness or the speed at which my food came out. Both times I ordered the big pappa burrito, and really enjoyed it. I got mine covered in a really good green chilly. The portions are huge so I left full. Not sure what people are complaining about. I like the place.

We arrived for dinner at the tail end of happy hour, so ordered some tacos and margs. The carne asada tacos were perfect, the chips were fresh and not greasy, and the roasted tomato salsa was perfect. But above all the cucumber marg was do die for and my hubby loved the spicy marg with jalapeño. Our only mistake was sitting inside on a warm eventing to catch the baseball game, but it was way too hot. Once we moved outside, it was perfect. I'm dying to go back.

I'm giving this restaurant three stars for the food. The service was slow and the menus were dirty, but the food was tasty, and the house margaritas weren't bad. We sat outside on a beautiful day and watched the Broncos game. It was my birthday, but they didn't do anything special for that, no free dessert or anything. Just well wishes from the server. Several times we were looking around for our server, and almost got up to look for him on a couple of occasions. The chips were good, and the bean dip was very tasty. I had the poblano chile stuffed with cheese and veggies. It was quite good. My son had the beef tacos and he enjoyed them. My partner had the pork chile and didn't really comment on it, except that there wasn't a drop left on his plate. All in all, it was good, not great, but well priced and well made.

Went for lunch midweek. Not busy, so our service was good. The carne asada burrito was huge, and tasty. More expensive than I would imagine, and would have expected a bowl of chips and salsa.

So we tried La Revolucion last night after not being able to go last week since they were closed. We were seated quickly when we arrived, and sat down to look at the happy hour menu, and were very displeased when we asked about the $2 can beer specials, that NONE of them were available. After getting our drinks, 10 minutes after ordering, we placed our dinner order (mole enchiladas and a carne asada burrito) they arrived to the table quickly. We were both disappointed in the cost of our items to the portion sizes we received. We both felt that we could get a bigger and comparable from Chipotle or Santiago's. We will not be going again for dinner.

I sat at bar seating and was seated promptly all three times I went. The service struggled the first time ( opening week) but has shaped up nicely. I always felt a warm familial presence. *Drinks are fantastic!! * I'm not sure a marg gets better. I had the enchiladas, chicken enchilada mole and tomales with pork green chile. The tomale and enchiladas mole are the best I ever had. The green chile had to have been cooked all day and the pork in it was so tender, had a little char, and nicley spiced. All three really filled me up and were a great value for $11. La Rev is not like a typical mexican restaurant and overly sauced or spicy, it's a little more California. The flavors are complex and full of flavor. I also loved sitting outside in Lousiville a little more distance from the play yard at Lucky Pie. I think I found my new go to place.

Stopped in last Saturday for dinner and drinks with a friend. It had been a crazy week so we both wanted margaritas. The first thing that I thought was odd was the design of the place. It was clearly built to be more outdoor than indoor, and we sat inside. We were a table of 2 but they sat us at a 4-top that was in its own isolated section, surrounded by an iron gate. A little weird. But we were right by the nice, big bar area. The margaritas were strong, but very sweet and small for $6. I ordered the Papa's Burrito, which had chorizo, shredded pork, potatoes, shrimp, spinach, cheese and green chile. The burrito was HUGE. It had to be at least 3 pounds. The green chile was watery, and the dish as a whole was lacking spice. We also had the chips with tomatillo and pineapple salsas, and those were also lacking heat. Our server was not very attentive and never came to check on us. Overall, I know this place is new, so I hope they improve soon. It's a fun little restaurant that would make a great place to go on a weekend night, if only the food was better!

After 3 visits, I am a fan. Service during our first visit wasn't the greatest, but they had only been open a few days and the manager came to our table to apologize, saying that the server had just started. Two subsequent visits were very good. I agree with other reviews that it's a little expensive, but the food has definitely improved over Cactus Wheel. The $3 tacos are good, but could use a little help with presentation. The plates are a better value - 3 tacos, rice and beans. The tomatillo salsa is very good - a delicious, creamy mix of tomatillos and avocado. On a nice sunny day, it's a great place to grab a bite, have a drink, and watch the world go by.

The food was really good. The patio on Main Street was great. The service was mediocre. Great tacos, burritos, mole and more. Bummer that they charge for chips and salsa. We'll be back for sure, glad to have discovered a new quality option in Louisville.

This place recently opened where the Cactus Wheel was. They repainted a bit, and the place was very busy, but we were seated right away. It was happy hour, but unfortunately not 1 of the featured canned beers (for $2) was available. The food came reasonably quickly, but was not worth the price - I had chicken mole enchiladas, 2 small enchiladas with mole, rice and black beans, and I loved the rice. My boyfriend had the carne asada burrito, which was fine, but for $10, we expected a bit more. Chipotle offers comparable quality for a better price. The bartender took his time getting our drinks, and he seemed a bit surly, berating the waitress within earshot of the customers, which didn't seem professional. Overall, I can do better somewhere else - shoot, I'll stay in Longmont and have some Santiago's!! Oh, and my house margarita was good, so maybe we'd go back for drinks, and eat somewhere else...

Is good customer service extinct? What about sub-par? What about customer service altogether? I was once listening to NPR when they interviewed this lady who was putting together a Customer Service class for students at some college and I thought "OMG are you kidding me?" and about 1/2 second later that thought changed to "Brilliant. That's genius." Case in point: We went to "La Rev", as they like to coin themselves, and sat down with our 2 small children. For those who don't know, Louisville is a) Kid friendly as EVERYONE has kids, and b) Kids don't like to wait long for their meals/service. Well, nearly 30 minutes later we still hadn't even received our drinks. Although, we did order them the second we arrived. We couldn't even get our waiter, who I'll call "Count Drunkula" (since he was clearly throwin' them back) to come back to our table. After 20 minutes, I had to go track him down. He was clearly annoyed that I had come to find him. I could tell as he looked at me with his glazed over blood-shot eyes. I pointed out how we had kids, hadn't received our drinks yet, and was just about to ramble that we'd missed Happy Hour prices due to the wait when he rolled his eyes and said he could put the kids order in now. I sighed and placed the order. Then we waited. 5 minutes later, no drinks. 10 minutes later, we said "f-it" and left. But... I had to go back to speak w/ management because I was so irritated at the indifferent attitude of the server when I approached him about the (lack of) service. I had become so impassioned at the thought of helping lengthen the life of the great majestic nearly extinct beast of customer service. I couldn't turn a blind eye during this injustice. My husband was already walking back home. I had the kid at the door lead me to the bartender who shined me on, then a waitress who curtly told me she'd send management to my table (we'd already left our table). Finally, Captain Morgan approached me, clearly as marinated as the server who'd been "helping" us. I knew it was a lost cause. He hurriedly waved his hand saying "oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry" and then turned his back and left me standing there like an idiot. In other words, I don't recommend this place. PS: This was our 2nd time there w/ bad service. It was also our last time.

The food menu and the drink menu at this place are always spot-on. Great outdoor seating as ambiance inside. This is the best place to eat and drink in Louisville, hands down.

We thought the food was not great. I had the burger with everything on it, the green chilis, pork green chili, beans, etc and it was very bland tasting. Ni real distinct flavor or spice. The tacos were tiny too!! especially for the price. That was a huge bummer. The cucumber lime marg was awesome but overall I wasn't that impressed which is a bummer.

We've eaten there twice and really enjoyed it. Had the tacos carne asada and chile rellenos. Guacamole is great and their margaritas are tasty - none of that artificial mix crap. Our server seemed in a hurry to get us out of there, that was the only downside.

Good carnitas tacos (ala-cart). Albondigas soup is fair. A bit oily and missing mint flavor in the meatballs. Rice was not good.

We thought we were going into LULUs however were at La Revolucion!! We stayed because 1. the service was OUTSTANDING!!! And 2. Those Margaritas were phenomenal!! Very pleased with the fact that most of their food is Gluten free!!! Thank you to the staff at La Revolucion!! We were back a week later with family, and will continue to come back!!

Poor service. No ice in water when it's 90 degrees out? No chips and salsa. Uninteresting flavorless house salad. Horrible salsa they only brought out after requested. Only good thing is chips. I got 3. Joke.

After a wonderful hike, some friends took my wife and I for a late lunch. We both had our pups, and this establishment allowed them to hang out with us while we ate. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was HUGE! It was the size of a decent piece of firewood! It was really tasty. My wife had the shrimp tacos which were a manageable size for her and equally as good. Our friends offered the fish tacos and the Gringo burger, which they both raved about as well. It is set in a quaint area that is a pleasure to walk around. We will definitely be returning!! To make the entire visit even more fantastic, I asked my wife to buy us a pint glass for our collection... When she asked the bartender, he gave it to her for free!!! A proverbial cherry on the cake!!

Revolución was nothing special but fine for a quick light lunch. We started with some chips and a charred tomato salsa. The chips were thick-cut, which I liked, but they were a bit overcooked, almost burnt tasting. The salsa tasted pretty good but was very mild. I would have liked some heat. My son ordered the La Rev Chile Salad with chicken, which he said was fine. My wife ordered two tacos - red chile braised chicken and fish (Alaska cod with slaw with blue corn). She said the chicken was very flavorful and the fish was fine. I ordered the green chile stew. It was a decent sized bowl of chile with pulled pork. Very tasty and nicely spicy. The total bill was a little over $30. La Revolución was fine for a quick lunch when we happened to be in the area but I probably wouldn't make a special trip.

I like to go to La Revolucion during the summer, when I can enjoy their nice patio. They have good margaritas, and I especially like the spicy one (La Rev Margarita, with cayenne infused agave, according to the menu.) I am usually happy with the tacos (made with soft corn tortillas), and I like being able to get different ones. The chips, salsa and guac are also good. I'd say the big plus of the place is the patio, the food is good, nothing extraordinary, but then, it can be difficult to find outstanding Mexican in the area, so I am glad to have La Revolucion here is Louisville. It always seems to me that you either get good food, or good atmosphere in Mexican restaurants, and if you want both, it's fairly rare and expensive. At La Revolucion, I get both.

Well, La Rev used to be our FAVORITE place in Louisville. After a bad dining experience for dinner earlier this week and a disappointing brunch today, i would have to say it will be a while b4 we even consider going back. Our servers have always been great, but something is definitley missing in the kitchen. The quality ingredients are still there and it looks good on the plate, but its like no actual care was put into the prep. Cold food, not seasoned properly. Also i came for a GF breakfast and less than 1/2 the tiny brunch menu is GF, even tho it says "our menu is GF except buns and burrito wraps". Just seriously disappointed, La Rev. You USED to be our fave and frequent hangout in Louisville.

I chipped my tooth on a quesadilla. A cheese quesadilla. I'll never go back.

La rev is full of flavor! From their La Rev (spicy) margarita to their many taco variations I tasted nothing but delicious. They also use higher end Dobel silver tequila for their house margaritas made with 100% blue agave. Their patio is large and the mood is reminiscent of something you would find near the beach in somewhere like California. Instead it's located in the quaint main street of Louisville, Colorado. From sweet to spicy my tastebuds were very pleased with La Revolucíon.

We sat out on the patio on a nice summer night. I ordered the La Rev margarita definitely recommend. Ordered chips, guac, and salsa. The guacamole had great flavor with nice chunks of avocado served with fresh tortilla chips. Decided to try the tacos. I ordered the shrimp and the carne asada. They were good not the best I ever had but good. Our server was outstanding. I will definitely be back to try some more of their menu.

Low quality food and worse service. We went at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon for a light meal. Upon approaching the entry we were told by a wait person to 'hold on' and after a minute she seated us and told us someone would be right with us. After 10 minutes of being totally ignored by every waiter/waitress I had to approach the bar and request some service. A wait person finally came over to take our order. No smile, no pleasant sense of appreciation that we came to their restaurant. More like we were rude for asking for some service. We ordered a few tacos from the happy hour menu. My partners order of two tacos came out wrong. How do you make a mistake about two tacos? My order came out okay but the meat was dry as were the taco shells. Soft tacos should be soft and moist not dry like cardboard. At no time did I ever observe any of the wait staff ever smile to anyone. I guess they were all having a bad day. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Well I'm confused b/c a friend from California recommended this place when I told her much I LOVED Efrains in Boulder! We should have left when we asked the server, "What's spicy on the menu?" And she answered, "Nothing." Mexican, not spicy!!? hmmnnn....First off, we waited over 40 minutes for our food. When we asked the waitress if it would be coming soon, they nicely offered complimentary chips n salsa (which should be complimentary anyway) with a salsa which unfortunately contained Avocado (which I previously made clear to my server that I was highly allergic to). By the time my server rushed back to our table, I had already taken a bite. This equaled ruined night for me. When our food finally came, it was incredibly bland, and I shall never go back. But Lulu's next store is AWESOME!!!!!!! So go there for spice and great food!

When the restaurant next door couldn't seat us because of a white party, La Revolucion was plan b. They were able to immediately seat our group of ~15 on a Saturday night. The waiters were attentive and the food came out fairly quickly, especially for a large group. The food wasn't anything to write home about in terms of flavor, but I would have to say that's because of the quality of ingredients used. The portions were huge and my platter was more than enough for two meals.

After reading the reviews for this place, I was skeptical about going for happy hour. We went anyway and brought our one year old. We sat in the back because of her and it turns out that we were our servers only inside table at that time. So, we waiting for quite awhile to place an order. He compensated us immediately with guac for the table, which we very much appreciated! The bar brought my husband the wrong beer, so he got a free one out of the deal. I ordered the veg burrito and was pleasantly surprised to actually see vegetables in there and not just cheese and beans. It was loaded and it was huge! Although we were slightly inconvenienced with waiting for our server, he was great at making it right. And the food was wonderful! We will certainly go back!

I am looking at an appetizer I had an hour ago. I phoned and spoke to the manager and alerted him that he has a problem in the kitchen. He thanked me for phoning and took down my contact info. An earlier review I posted tonight said the service and kitchen were in consistent. I now suggest that you go elsewhere.

I was going to give this a two star review, but felt obliged to balance things out with one star after reading so many obvious schill reviews. The food here could suck worse, but it would take some decided effort to make it so. Mexican food is not rocket science. It is not difficult to cone up with at least one or two prize winning dishes. I found nothing to like about this place - not even the salsa. Everything is way too heavily seasoned, and way too hot. And I am someone who scarfs down jalapeños whole. Particularily, stay away from the Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Horrible - the fish tastes like it's been soaked in vinegar. Rubios is a much better bet...

I had high hopes for this place, so maybe I need to adjust my expectations. Being new transplants to Louisville, my wife and I were excited about trying La Revolucion, as it's a short walk from our place and looked fun. The good news: it IS fun! The margaritas are terrific, the service was warm and kid-friendly and the overall vibe and decor do not disappoint. The bad news: The food is really lacking. We started off with some chips and salsa (we ordered the Charred Arbol Chile & Roasted Tomato), which had literally zero flavor whatsoever. The salsa just tasted like tomatoes with some salt and heat added. Major bummer. I've always had an association with movies and their previews where it seems like the better the previews, the better the movie. Well, it seems the same is the case for Mexican food, as our entrees were underwhelming, to say the least. I had the Short Rib Enchiladas with rice and beans, and my wife had the Roasted Corn and Green Chile Tamales. Both really were lacking in flavor, and even the rice and beans were bland. I struggled with whether to write a two or three star review for this place, but went with three as the drinks and the service were both terrific. Hopefully this was just an off night for the kitchen, as I really want to like this place. I'll give it another shot, and hopefully this time (with way lower expectations), I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Incredibly good food and drinks, great happy hour deals and good pricing overall. I had an issue with the service that I didn't feel was well-handled initially, and when I got in touch the following day they were very responsive. I really appreciate that and will definitely be back.

We got there early on a Friday evening because we knew the street fair crowd would be rolling in around 5:30. We got a table on the patio right by the sidewalk so we could do some people watching. We started of with white wine sangria for my date and a house margarita for myself. My date said the sangria was good with a decent kick to it, so she tried the red wine sangria and it was just ok. My margarita wasn't so good and I gave it a couple of chances to get better to no avail. Our appetizer was chips with the four salsas and of the four the tomatillo was real good. We ordered from the happy hour menu ,pork, beef and chicken tacos and they were very good and priced right at $ 2.00 a pop. Our waiter was real good with a good understanding of the limited menu. I left feeling good after having had a good meal and a couple of margaritas and headed to the street fair to enjoy the Subdudes. I would go there again for the happy hour tacos and a cold beer before heading to the street fair but head to head for Mexican food they can't compete with Tia Maria's. I would have given 4 stars if the house margarita was better.

Mixed feelings about La Rev. The first few times we ate here, we sat on the patio and enjoyed the fantastic margaritas (my husband likes the spicy, I like the house). Food was fantastic - I especially love the chicken mole enchiladas. However, the last few times we've been, the food has been disappointing and the service even worse. Not sure what the change is, but I hope they get things back to the way they were previously.

Disclaimer: I was nowhere close to sober when I ate here. I almost never want fish tacos. I'm almost always a beer or chorizo taco freak, but tonight was the rare exception and all I wanted was fish tacos. One of their fish tacos is $4, but I knew would not do. However, I didn't want the rice and beans that came with the plate. In retrospect, I should have ordered two tacos, but I had drunk eyes, so I ordered three. They were pretty good, especially whatever sauce they used on it (according to the menu, it was avocado crema). That being said, there is no way these tacos are $4 a piece good. I appreciate that these are more "gourmet" tacos, but I like my tacos down and dirty. The rest of the pricing on the menu looks alright, but their tacos are overpriced, in my opinion. I sat at the bar and the lady bartender was very friendly; something my less than sober self was very glad for.

Not great. Food is ok. Very slow service when there were only one or 2 other tables. Pleasant attitude though. I can't imagine when they're busy! Not bad not great. Just ok.

Very surprised by the reviews, we had great service, food, and drinks! We ordered the poblano rellano, dry rub wings, and some margs. The drinks were great, the poblano was spicy, which we enjoy but may be off putting to some, and the wings were delicious! Service was fast and friendly (Isabella was wonderful), and the price for what you get cant be beat- we will definitely be back! :)

  • Jeri J.

After being sat, we waited over twenty minutes for a server to come to our table. We attempted to flag other servers down only to be looked at and ignored. You might think this means they were busy - but no. Not even a little bit. After twenty minutes, when we finally got up to leave I politely told the THREE servers standing up at the front doing nothing that we were leaving because we had been sitting there for over twenty minutes waiting for a server and they had no response. It was like there were suddenly three of the most awkward deer in the world and they were all caught in headlights. So, silly me, I though the owners might want to know about this. I emailed them - over two weeks ago - and they couldn't even be bothered to respond. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Downtown Louisville who have staff that actually does their jobs and owners that care about running a quality business. I'll stick with them, thanks!

Came here for first time on a Saturday afternoon after hearing good things about the restaurant. Having grown up in San Diego, I know my standards are high. I ordered a carne asada and a carnitas taco. Although the portions for both are quite small for the price, the carnitas is definitely worth it for the flavor and tenderness of the pork. I'd pass on the carne for $3 (happy hour price). Mexican street corn was not as fresh (a bit off-season for late August?) but grilled nicely and well-seasoned. Worth the $2. Overall, I would not make this my Mexican food destination of choice. Decent effort though.

The margaritas were great. The food was average. Honestly not much to write home about. Small space , loud and crowded. Vegetarian tamales were the best thing we tried.

Peanut alert! They have a peanut mole on the menu. The building is a little weird. it looks like it stumbled drunkenly into Lulu's one night, spilled half the seating out onto the sidewalk, and is now clinging to her side, hoping for support. The entrance is in the middle of the two buildings. The two restaurants apparently share bathrooms. It's an unusual relationship, but they seem to make it work. Just make sure you get the right door. I tried the salsas and chips, which had to be ordered. Chips were ok. Salsas interesting. Served in the typical black footed cup. The 'creamy' tomatillo was not what I feared it would be, (I had a vision of something like ranch dressing) but since it's been nearly twelve hours since I had it and I'm STILL burping flavorfully from it, I almost wish it were. It was green and not hot, but certainly flavorful and my digestive system does not like it. There was also a rather liquid regular salsa, a pico, and a bean and corn salsa, which was very bland and I didn't really get the point. It didn't taste like ANYTHING! Guacamole was good. I love guac. You can't really go wrong with it. I don't care if it turns brown after a while, because a quick stir will hide it and it still tastes good. I should have picked up an avacado at the store . . . ahem. I got the pork tacos plate, which turned out to be three mini tortillas, pork, creamy tomatillo (yeah, I'm guessing overkill), and a cheese that was rather like feta and parmesan combined. The pork was a little crunchy, which was weird, but everything tasted good. I didn't try the drinks, but they had a large tequila menu. Perhaps I should have, it might have killed the tomatillo.

  • Andrew K.

The food here is always good although the mole is a disappointment. Why 3 stars? They really need to do something about the wait staff and the wait in general. You get told it will be about 30 mins for a seat and it will take at least an hour. Don't expect to get drinks real quick either. Was here for at least 2 hours and got to order 2 drinks! Went to the bar for the others. They really need to get some regular wait staff and train them correctly. It is the biggest downfall of what could be a great place.

Had dinner there last night. The place was packed with people screaming at the top of their voices. The waitress warned us that it had been a busy day and that some of the pre-prepared food had run out, so there might be a little of a wait. Well, there was. The entrees took over an hour to show up. My dish - a pork dish looked and tasted like a vegetarian dish. I could not detect any pork, no matter how hard I looked. Another person had fish tacos. Why would anyone go through the trouble of bringing mahi-mahi to louisville, co, and then cook it in boiling water without any spices added to it. Both of these dished looked and tasted horrible. The beans were straight from a can, tasteless and luke warm. I love Mexican food, but this was the worst ever,

La Revolucion is a trendy little restaurant that is pretty nice. The interior layout is a bit cramped but surely get's the job done. Your greeted to the sight of the bar upon entry which is cool but there is no host stand to go to. So we waited for someone to notice us. Granted, this was on a cold and drippy day. I've walked by La Rev in all it's appealing glory when the sun was shining but I unfortunately didn't have the pleasure to have that full experience this time around. Next time! We were lead to the back area to be seated. We ordered some adult beverages but were a tad turned off by the fact that they don't have a blender @ the bar. My mother wanted a blended margarita but settled for it on the rocks. No biggie to me but she likes her marg's icy! Our waiter was nice but could use some better table side manner. His lack of connecting to his tables/guests and sliver or arrogance made this place feel like more of an owned operation then a bigger type restaurant that prides itself with a solid training foundation with customer service running the front line. I've encountered great mom & pop restaurants so that should never be an excuse for sub-par standards and service. The food is okay. I think they should recalculate the pricing because it feels a bit hefty for the quality. I'm not a huge cheapy or anything. I can definitely justify ordering a tiny dish with half a tomato, a basil leaf, & cheese for nearly 20 bones from a fancy 5 star joint but sadly, this place isn't that type of restaurant nor should their plate pricing remotely reflect that. I guess the salad I got for a few bucks less then the featured plate my mom ordered was a little underwhelming. They also don't have any peppers that would up the heat notch. Very gringo style spicing if you ask me, but I'm not one to judge your flavor preference! I just like things scorching. It took me a while to get this review in. I just never felt intrigued to start it. Our experience wasn't very memorable or worth it to me. I will say that La Rev has tons of potential! It has many pleasant features. In fact, they may have even changed a few things since our visit. I don't mind coming back to check them out again. A solid 3 stars is what they get from me especially because they know how to attract guests. My kids ate for free on that Tuesday night with a purchase of an adult entree. There were enough of us to get each of my kiddies a free meal. Nice touch! Kriss P. will be back but I'd like to be impressed this time around!

Clearly, my memory is really bad. Because I should've read my own review from two years ago and not come back. Again, it took FORTY-FIVE minutes to get our food (and there were a bunch of empty tables, so it wasn't like a full house or anything). No concessions, other than a few apologies. Tell that to my toddler (the one who was in utero last time). Thankfully, older bro kept him busy running around the adjacent patio area w/ the chalk and hula hoops (only thing going for La Revolucion). Also, I think it's lame when a Mexican restaurant charges for chips & salsa. We would've gone to Casa Alegre down the street where they have DELISH chips and salsa (gratis, naturally) and food, but the mariachi band outside gave my husband the heebies (too loud, too imposing, when it's right in your face). I got the Papa's Burrito again, with a sense of deja vu (I guess my tastes are consistent)... it was satisfying and the meat was nice with crispy burnt ends. My hubs got the carnitas torta and it was a total RIP-OFF. There was hardly any meat, #1. #2, the side of fries was anemic. #3, there just wasn't that much to the sandwich. Son #1 could've made something much better and he's only 8. Said son enjoyed the red-chile chicken flautas, but still $7 for 4 of them. Kids' meals were $6, which is definitely on the high side. I MEAN IT THIS TIME, not coming back.

Love La Rev. We have been many times now and every time we have walked away happy. Amazing food, house margarita is great and the guacamole is a must. They have a great atmosphere with outdoor seating and wonderful staff. One of my favorites downtown. My favorite dish is the Papas Burrito. It's big, but full of flavor.

  • Dana U.

Food was okay but not superb. We ordered the shrimp, carnitas, and fish tacos which were all middle of the road. The fish were probably the best and battered in blue corn. The house margarita was the best item we ordered and I'd recommend it. Nice outdoor seating options too.

Stopped in for dinner while traveling though Louisville. I had a few tacos and a couple drinks. It was perfect. The fish taco, and the steak taco are mouth watering. The staff was very friendly. So when you take good service and good food, it makes for a good time. I liked the open area outside. This place looks like its a local family place. I'm gluten free and they were very knowledgeable and helped me pick a few things. If your passing though or live in the surrounding area, you have to stop in. I loved the town.

Food. Very good and reasonably priced. Got a veggie burrito with veggie green sauce. It was huge! I have enough left over for dinner tomorrow. Got an order of chips and salsa first. They have four kinds of salsa ranging from mild to spicy. We got 2 medium, green salsa and pineapple. Both were good. Ambiance. Nice setting. A lot of outdoor seating. We went in summer on a gorgeous evening with a chance of rain. Most of the seating is covered so there was no worry about getting unexpectedly rained on. Service. Very good. Attentive waitress but not hovering. Veggie burrito and 2 (top shelf) margaritas with tip around $30. overall a good value Will go back for sure.

Your hamburgers tasted like dog food, ick. Your servings are to big and expensive. Your food sucks! Lower your price, put more quality into your food. People don't want to take the food home they want to eat it there. Make smaller portions but make it worth eating and worth the price. Your drinks are to high priced too!

Their smothered burrito was good, although their carnitas was not as tasty as I would have liked. Their drinks are great and they have a great happy hour. I liked the atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and efficient.

Went here on a lark - if I lived in the area I would definitely return for more. We were there for a happy hour and liked the outdoor seating option. Margaritas were good- I had the El Rez which is a pepper version. I had a taste of the mojito and was impressed. They use good quality mixes - probably fresh juice not pre-fab sugar stuff. Most of us ordered tacos which are small and tasty - probably order three. I had the carnitas and the fish. Servers attentive though they changed shifts in the middle of the fun.

We came to la revolution for a Mexican breakfast. My wife and I ordered the green chile - her in a bowl and me on a plate. My son ordered the mex-Alaskan breakfast. Salmon and potatoes under eggs with a habanero hollandaise (which was excellent). When we got our food we were underwhelmed by the green chile. We've had green chili dishes in Hatch, and it just wasn't New Mexican green chile. We told the chef and he talked to us for a bit to get what we liked and then brought us out a whole taco plate as a second try! He also comped us the green chile meals and the taco plate. The carnitas and shrimp tacos were to die for, we will definitely get tacos here again. La revolucion will never be known as a place for super spicy food, but is definitely a place with flavorful food. I'd say three stars for the food and an extra star for the service.

  • Alexandra K.

Some of the food is pretty decent, some of the drinks are pretty decent, everything is very overpriced for what you are getting, especially the chips and salsa. The sangria is horrible but its nice that for only a $1 you can choose the tequila in your margarita. The chips and salsa and guacamole are great if you want to pay for it. The setting is really awesome however, its a great place to go in the summer and sit outside.

Great drinks, if a bit pricey. Salsa: Comes in thimbles and is very, very boring. (P.S. What is with Colorado and the crappy weird salsa everywhere? Tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, salt, vinegar/lime, THE END. That's all it takes. Oh, the humanity!) Guacamole: Also a very small portion served in an even smaller bowl, and again, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....Avocado, onion, jalapeno = snore. See, if there was better salsa, you could just add that to avocado, mash, and done. Tacos: Fine. Shrimp seem likely to be from frozen, based on texture, but the flavor was good. Good place to meet friends and nothing was offensively bad, and the service was typically front range uber-friendly, but there's nothing on the menu that calls you back. Hard to get excited about thimblefuls of boring salsa. Overall, the place feels more like it started with a business model and a brand first, then developed the menu to support it adequately, rather than starting with great food first, then developing a brand to support the food.

Eesh.....lackluster at best. The food was heavily under seasoned and I ate, quite possibly, the driest tamales I've had in a LONG time.

I rarely review but when it's so bad you have to. Service took an hour to get our food for a salad I could have put together in 5 mins or less at home and 3 tacos. When I said it was our first time in and how bad it was they didn't offer to do anything about our tab. The manager asked if we wanted more chips and salsa and when we said yes he never brought them. This was our first time in and our last. I told them that too and they didn't care. If that's how people want to run a business they don't deserve to have money come in the door. Would not recommend this place for anything.

Great atmosphere, and friendly staff. The food however, did not match these compliments. Both my wife and had had very dry meat. The chips and salsa (which you have to pay for) were very mediocre. Bummer

I want to like this restaurant. The patio is nice, the house margarita is good, the tacos are decent. BUT...I feel a bit nickel-dimed here. On a recent visit, I asked for more noodles for my kids' dinners (6 and 8). The waitress charged me for 2 complete incremental dinners -- for more noodles -- butter only -- and it was very slow to come to our table. When I commented that the incremental charge wasn't what I was expecting (I didn't actually ask about pricing before I asked for more noodles) the waitress said, "I'll see what I can do." I figured we'd reached an understanding. The bill then arrived for payment with no adjustment. I paid without further discussion. Net, our kids' dinners cost more than my wife's and my dinners. I think the final bill was about $80 (only 2 house margaritas). The food and experience really wasn't worth the price in my opinion. Oh, and it was out of 2 of its 3 dessert offers on a Thursday evening. This place is fine but you can do better.

I've been back two more times since my initial review. I like it more now. Seems like they have fixed many issues and the food was good. Nice patio but kinda loud when busy. Comfy bar. Friendly staff.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
