This is one of our family's regular places to eat. It is especially great in the summer as they have the best patio in Louisville. Great place for kids as they can ride big wheels in a play area of the patio. With it being right next to the train track it is always a kid favorite when a train goes by. The food is always solid and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. We have had some bumps in service on some more crowded nights but we have not see a consistent pattern and it has not been to the point of adversely impacting our positive expereinces here.

I can't say enough about how good the mexican food is here -along with the atmosphere and service. This local restaurant is one of my all-time favorites. I am picky about mexican food, but Casa Alegre never lets me down. The staff is always friendly, and they usually have an on-going free entree coupon at valpack.com . I personally recommend the chicken burrito. The shredded chicken is tender and tasty, and I've never come across pieces of grissle (which is very important to me!!). So many times in other mexican restaurants, I've bitten into a chicken enchilada or burrito, only to lose my appetite after realizing I just bit into a flabby piece of nasty chicken blubber! When my uncle was in town, he ate here with us and raved about their chile rellenos. The sopa pillas are fresh, everything is delish. This place is awesome, I love it.

I was excited about this place and wanted badly for it to be good, but ended up disappointed. The chips and salsa are great. The beans and rice were just right. The entrees were disappointing though. My wife got Baja fish tacos. They are good, but the amount of fish and filling in them was laughable. One literally had a small finger sized piece of fish in it, which was dwarfed by the tortilla. I got carne asada tacos and was very disappointed. The meat was over cooked and tough, and about 1/4 gristle. I have lived in Mexico and know that fat and gristle is generally left in when you get tacos in Mexico, and the population there is accustomed to that. But not taking a bit of extra time to trim up the meat is a huge mistake that many "authentic Mexican" restaurants who hope to cater to American diners make. Almost any strip mall taqueria will do better at half the price. I'll be sticking with Efrains where I know what to expect and I'm never disappointed.

Don't go here if you have allergies or food restrictions! The staff, while very friendly, does NOT take allergy and food restriction requests seriously AT ALL! When asked if a dish would me ok for me to eat the response I got was "ummmm, uhhhhhh, Yes?" Then when I said "never mind please don't bring me that" he brought it anyways and then never came back to check on us.

Really good and authentico. Loved the family restaurant atmosphere and prompt service. The carne asada tacos were excellent. Everyone in our family loved the food including our picky 5 year old.

Yum this place rocks! Real mexican food, it felt homemade! I can't say enough about the food so relax & enjoy! This kind of amazing food is worth the wait! ps the restaurant the blue parrot around the corner Dont Go! yuck! the waitress go out & smoke between serving people & don't wash their hands that's just nasty!

How can you NOT love a place that has a sign that reads: "Kitchens are made to bring families together" We needed an outdoor patio that would be friendly to our 8 and 10 year old, AND have good/great food and margaritas. We found all this at Casa Alegre. It was wonderful to have a relaxing dinner and a few margaritas here last night after a long day. The wait staff was immediately attentive and was snappy with the salsa, chips and amazing veggie mix for the chips. We had our drinks ASAP, and the waiter had no problem getting the kids food order in first, our order after relaxing with our first margarita. The place was casual, quaint, and authentic. Prices were what you'd expect for good Mexican, and all three adults were very pleased with their meals. I have to say that the seafood burrito was a new one for me personally, but it was an amazing treat, and I will be looking for this in Chicago Mexican eateries we frequent. After diner, we were glad to try dessert, which was devoured. Not to be unfair, but usually I don't find dessert at Mexican establishments to be worth the time, but that was just not the case here. It was as wonderful as the food. Overall, a great choice for us, and one we'd highly recommend for locals who haven't been (could that be possible?), and for out of town visitors looking for good authentic homemade Mexican in a casual place at just the right price. PS... make sure to check out the stunning back bar in the main room. Beautiful! Just beautiful. Nice to see it in such good shape 100 years after its debut in the building, or so I was told.

This was our first time here and we were excited to try a new place. We were greeted right away and seated as there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant. The waiter took our drink order right away and then returned about 10 minutes later to take our food order. Being that there were only 2 families in the restaurant eating at the time and 4-5 servers just standing around, I thought that we would receive excellent service....not so much. The chips were nice and hot and you get a lot of them. The salsa is delicious, however, they give you enough to dip about 3 chips. It seriously is a single serving meant for 1 person. Most of our food came out pretty quick. My husband and daughters received their food and mine came out a good 5-7 minutes later. It obviously had been hanging out under the heat lamps in the kitchen because the top of the beans and the sauces were crusted over and dried out. I would have sent it back except I had not had anything to eat all day and I was starving. As I start eating, I notice that the chicken taco that was supposed to come with my combination plate is missing. I was about 3/4 of the way done with my meal before I could even flag a server down to notify them. The person's attention we finally got was not our server.....(god only knows where that guy went after taking our order cause I never saw him again until he brought the bill......how convenient) but she brought out the rest of my food right away. Unfortunately for all four of us, we remained thirsty the entire meal because our server never came to check on us or refill our drinks AT ALL. Maybe it was because all the wait staff was too busy socializing with each other by the bar.

We have been customers at Casa Alegre for some time. They have a great patio! Their service and food can be hit or miss. We have a had great experiences there but I am sorry to say my last experience was terrible. It will make me question going back for a while. We had a large party of 18, after they worked hard to sit us together on the patio the service stopped. We asked our server many times for water for the table and didn't get any. I went to the bar not only once but twice to ask for water. I left once with only two glasses and both times with a promise to get pitchers of water delivered to the table. A third time, I approached the manager for water. It was SOME time later before water was brought to our table. The food was over cooked, later even my kids mentioned on their own how bad their food was. One order was forgotten and when it was placed it was placed incorrectly. Never once did wait staff or the manager apologize for the issues that night.

Great food that tastes home cooked. Friendly staff. Family-friendly. Decent portions and reasonable prices. Highly recommended! We will be back.

I like this place. Very welcoming and comforting . I usually get the enchilada and chile relleno combo. The enchilada sauce doesn't quite taste like the sauce back in California, but it's close and tasty. I love that they offer shredded beef; I am always so disappointed when the beef enchilada is ground beef. They offer two spins on the chile relleno: crispy and soft. Soft is more traditional; crispy is wrapped in a flour tortilla and fried - tasty, but I prefer the soft.

Great food, great sevice and sometimes they have an acoustic guitarist strumming some authentic mexican music.

Had dinner at Casa Alegre the other night on a whim and very much enjoyed it. While I wasn't blown away by any particular characteristic of the restaurant, it was all very good and worth the price. Food is high quality and portioned generously. Service was a bit slow but we didn't have to ask for anything so no complaints. Prices were fair for what we received. Living in Broomfield, this restaurant is definitely good enough to make it worth the trip. We will certainly eat there again and recommend to friends.

  • James J.

I was disappointed. When I see 5 stars from some people I know there's got to be something interesting enough there even if some others give it less stars. But this one is a 3. Food was regular...you know, enchiladas with pancaked bean spread and yellow rice. The other dinner lacked flavor. The hostess was in zombie land and the server was all makeup and half there as well. We had 2 kids sitting at the table and ordered 2 taco plates for them. One taco plate arrived and the server said she thought we only ordered 1 plate. Kinda of a strange outing there.

We drive up to Louisville on every trip to Denver area. This is good authentic Mexican food. Decade after decade. Count on it

All I can say is.... I really miss Pine Street Junction, the restaurant which used to occupy this location... back 'in the day'. Sad that it's now just a sub-par Mexican place. It could be so much more.

BEWARE: Past positive reviews are based on experiences from the previous owners! This restaurant use to be our favorite Mexican restaurant. The restaurant has new owners now and a lot has changed. Before, there was music, better lighting, and better food. Now, there's white florescent dim lighting, a TV blaring instead of music, and the food isn't what it use to be. The chips are not nearly as good as what they use to serve, and my favorite dish, "the hungry donkey" (a burrito full of veggies) isn't on the menu anymore. I asked the waiter about "the hungry donkey" and they said that they will stay make it. They did make it, but it was nothing like what it use to be. Instead of a ton of fresh, cooked-just-right veggies, it had very little veggies, and what it had was way overcooked, and the majority of it was filled with pinto beans and fried rice. Very disappointing. I'm sad that our favorite Mexican restaurant no longer exists.

I, my wonderful partner and our beautiful niece came in at a busy time Friday night and were seated immediately. The chips were warm with a delicious slaw-like topping akin to the condiments of Central América. The Mojito was awesome while the cheese and chorizo sauce was outrageously delicious. The manager came and checked on us, always a good thing to do. Best of all, they had the good Horchata with the vanilla crystals that make it so tasty. We will be back. I highly recommend the margarita with angulated Corona bottle insert as well. Looks cool and tastes even cooler.

Slow service right now. We went here after my research on Yelp and choose what was to be a family friendly restaurant. My 6 1/2 year old grand daughter wanted a real "family reunion". Not sure where the restaurant is that you all reviewed but we did not see it. A table of 9 at 7 on Sunday June 21 with two kids and 7 adults. We waited patiently for service as they looked understaffed. We sat on the patio for a more child friendly environment but we walked thru at least 2 dining rooms. It turns out they had only two servers struggling to cover a huge geographic area plus working with a kitchen that could not produce food and a busser that was rude. We finally received chips and salsa but it was a weird one with a side of a slaw type of thing. We had questions for our gluten free daughter and ran into problems get a straight or non rude answer. Then we finally get drinks and order food. The plates come out so, so slowly, 2 at a time that it is clear the kitchen has no clue. Each time the server comes over she cringes. We finally get the second kids meal, a cheese quesadilla was burnt on the bottom and over 40 min into our "service". We all tried to be patient but I lost it when our "Shrimp Platter" at $30 per for 2 arrived and it was a disaster, missing items, lots of dried out rice and very few shrimp. The server took the tray to the on duty manager Before bringing it to the table since she knew it was not "standard". While the manager took care of the tab and we took care of the server, we still were deprived of a "family reunion" that our grand daughter wanted.

First off street fair was going & numerous people were parking in their lot. Asked them to man their lot & the front desk lady stared at us with a blank look. She's obviously in outer space & acted as if she didn't comprehend. Second, they DISCRIMINATE!!!! We walk in & outside patio seating is 15/20 minutes. A Mexican couple walks in & a member of the wait staff knew him & seated him immediately in the patio. Btw there is no call ahead or reservations on Friday-Saturday night. We're white by the way. So I highly recommend that if your skin color isn't tan don't go. Spoke to the owner, he could care less. He acted as if he didn't comprehend. He asked us over & over what's the problem. Acting stupid. I'm not ignorant nor is someone going to treat us in that manner. He then has the balls to tell us to leave. What a complete joke!!! Again don't go if your the wrong race!!!!! Place is nasty disgusting too!!

Incredible carne tacos!!! My meal was excellent. Beans and rice were above and beyond your typical meal. Service was top notch. Free chips and dip. And the dip has just the right spice! I'll be back. Yum!

  • Mike C.

Dropped in on a chance. Really good margarita and pretty good food. The relleno was yummy, but the taco and tamale were decent. At outside and enjoyed the weather. Bonus when the train went by.

  • Kimberly M.

The food is amazing. You have to try the chicken mole. The enchiladas are also wonderful.

    (4)
  • Jennifer M.

I just can't bring myself to get anything other than the chicken en mole or mole enchiladas. The mole sauce is just so good. It's not too sweet, just a little spicy, and compels me to eat way more food than my stomach would like. The service is also friendly, and you get green chile coleslaw with your chips and salsa. After eating at a number of places in east Boulder county looking for good Mexican this is my new go to place!

    (4)
  • Anon P.

Wow people have low standards. The food here is just adequate, nothing special. The salsa they bring is very hot, and when we asked for mild salsa (had to ask twice), they brought enchilada sauce.

Never having spent any time in Louisville before, I was completely at the mercy of Yelp to direct me somewhere decent for dinner with my parents. I'm happy to report that I really enjoyed my meal at Casa Alegre! The structure itself was quaint, but the patio was enormous and fully shaded. The staff was extremely attentive and willing to offer suggestions. My entire family enjoyed their meals, and half of us couldn't even finish what came on our plates (or in my case, as my husband suggested - a shield). Chips and salsa were good, and there was this Mexican cole slaw that was also served (I apologize for not knowing what it's called), that was delicious. The margaritas were great, too. All around it was a great experience. I don't foresee myself landing in Louisville too often, but when I do, I'm not going to hesitate to visit Casa Alegre again.

Good food but we had fantastic service so I added a star. Very friendly waiter who exceeded our expectations. Got the tres amigos which came with carne Asada (real good), chile relleno (also quite good and an average enchilada. Wife didn't love her chicken enchilada. Didn't hate it either.

First time here, more to come for sure. Great food, super service...free sample of home made tequila...let me get in two trips and give this place a real review. I am looking forward to another trip.

Always had a good meal. Sometimes the staff can be overwhelmed and slow. The patio is great in the summer if kids aren't running wild.

First time at Casa Alegre and it was SO good! We took the recommendation of a previous Yelp! review and got the house margaritas...very good!! Also, I typically get the same thing at Mexican restaurants; nachos with beef and cheese. I'm happy to report this was the first time I have ever ordered something different than that at a Mexican restaurant! My food was delicious and came out very quickly. The outdoor patio is amazing and perfect for a nice night. Can't wait to come back!

Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in Colorado. The service is always the best, you get great value for your money, and the food is AMAZING. I have jumped all over the menu but found that the burritos are my favorite. Everything that they do, they do it very simply but very, very well. A must-try if you haven't been before.

    (5)
  • Heather L.

I go to Casa Alegre several times a month. My food is always great and comes out pretty quick.. The service is great and the manager knew me after a couple of visits. He always comes by with a playful joke and keeps an eye on everything.

Probably my new favorite restaurant in Downtown Louisville. Now that Louisville is drinking its own cool aide, prices are getting seriously out of control. Lucky Pie is doing it's best to price itself out of the market, and it seems that most of the other restaurants are following suite. It's so nice to have a place where two people can eat for under $20. Also, two things I always look for when trying to find a good/authentic Mexican restaurant are crazy fast food prep, and cheap as dirt prices. This place has both. Go here, you won't be let down.

Worst Mexican food that I have had in along time...mealy steak making for weird, nasty fajitas

  • Michael M.

This place is legit, easily the best Mexican food in Louisville/Lafayette/Superior zone. I used to live in San Diego, and I could see Mexico from my balcony. This place is doing Mexican right, they're focusing on good, zesty sauces and using their veggies to give texture and some punch. Personally, given the options, I'd go here to eat and get my margarita at the Rev if I'm feeling Mexican in Louisville.

  • Thighmaster M.

    1. Cozy 2. Kind maitre'd; servers are ON IT. 3. House marg on the rocks, $5 each, above average. 4. Beef fajita and chicken molé very good. Price-Service-Yumminess: Our vote for Best Boulder County Mexican Restaurant.

    (5)
  • Danielle A.

This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The tacos al carbon are some of the best I've ever had! Although a little more expensive than other places, it is well worth it!

We stopped by here on our way home from the airport - comfy, great waitstaff, food was yum, and I really dig the digs.

  • Gwyn H.

We weren't thrilled with the food. It was either crazy spicy or boring bland. They use yellow cheddar cheese instead of queso blanco. Seats (chairs) felt as if you were falling through. Our search continues for good Mexican food.

Calling all Californians who cry every day because nothing in Colorado can come close to the Carne Asada they crave. To the Mission Style burritos they long for that have nothing to do with boiled meat or green chili. Get TO Casa Alegre pronto!!! And WEEP for joy!! Amazing carne asada!! Seasoned and perfectly cooked. FRESH guac. FRESH EVERYTHING. Beautifully presented and seasoned to perfection. We are overjoyed - having just moved to Louisville and after having tried countless "awesome" CO mexican restaurants (you know who you are Efrains and Santiagos) - that we FINALLY found a place we could call home. So CALI brethren - get to Casa Alegre and breath a sign of relief! Ask for Rebecca - Impeccable service with a smile!

I was in Louisville scouting near by at the softball complex. I jumped on my GPS for food and Casa Alegre popped up. I went mainly to watch Spain vs Portugal for World Cup. To my surprise the food was amazing! I'm a big chorizo con huevos fan and have been to many restaurants and tacquerias having been raised in California. My chorizo con huevos was piping hot! Just the way I like it. The chips and salsa was plentiful. And the flour tortillas that was brought to my table was fresh! Spain won! I was the only fan there. Everyone else was rooting for Portugal. Service was quick. The wait and bar staff was friendly. I would come here again and again!

  • Max R.

This has become our favorite local mexican restaurant. good chips and salsa and the food quality is consistent (have eaten here more times then checked in on yelp). friendly staff, easy parking and a big patio are a plus. the negatives are the subterranean-feeling second dining room and the occasional flies buzzing around the main windows

  • Cori C.

I loved their Chili Verde burrito! It was covered in a green sauce, which is the first I've found here. It seems like everything in Colorado is smothered in red sauce. The burrito was a little different and had beans, rice, and pork inside, with onions, tomatoes, and green sauce on top. I loved the flavor! The cheese enchilada was also very tasty, but I could have done without the red sauce on it. My husband had a beef burrito, and I didn't enjoy the flavor of the beef at all. This place would have gotten 4 stars from me if I hadn't taste tested his burrito. Other than that, the service was super friendly and very fast.

I came here with my sister and loved it. I had the avocado tostada with chicken. Very good! The queso was yummy too!

Great food. Mixed drinks are strong and delicious. Only complaint is you have to pay extra for a second basket of chips.

I think from the outside this place seems a little daunting but once you are inside it's amazing! Food is soo good, price is great for portion size, service is quick and on top of things.. Granted it's never quite busy the multiple times i've been in.. But it should be! Spread the word :). I work in the area and prefer this place to almost all the others!!

Margaritas here are killer! Good service, fresh food, fabulous atmosphere! Beautiful bar inside and huge outdoor eating area in the back!

  • Zichelle B.

Their Chili was not good at all. I am hispanic, so have a specific taste for green chili. It was watery and didn't have much flavor. Their salsa was pretty tasty, just had too much Comino (Cumin). I LOVE their 36 oz margarita. Very strong, and worth a try. The service was pretty good and the food is okay. I will definately be going back.

This restaurant does a better job than most, but it falls short of the flavors of Mexico. I had the recommended Tacos Al Carbon. The tortillas, which did seem homemade, were dense and slippery. The chicken was good, but they were served with a thin film of enchilada sauce so that I couldn't pick them up, plus a sprinkle of processed cheese. There was no white onion or cilantro to be found, but there was a small tablespoon of guacamole. Plus plenty of yellow rice and refried beans. Al Carbon is street fare. Tasty, simple and, most important, made with fresh ingredients. This was a half-and-half dish. That was my second time there, just in case I had a wrong impression from the first time. After two not-so-great meals, I won't be returning.

We went here tonight for the first time and I have to say it was pretty darn tasty. Margaritas were good. I had a verde burrito, the wife had an enchilada and taco, and my son had a cheese crisp. Mine had a real nice spicy flavor. The pork was super tender and no fat! I only gave it 4 stars because I want to come back to see if it is as good a second time but based on one trip I would say give it a try!

Some of the best Mexican food joints in the County.....and I'm a pretty big Mexican food snob....

  • Connie R.

We really like this place. Good house margaritas, great burritos and carne asada. The shrimp dishes are also especially good. The patio is fantastic, but unfortunately often gets taken over by children that have been sent outside by their parents, running around like so many squawking chickens. The only problem I have with the food here is that by the time I've managed to stop eating the chips and salsa, I don't have room for all of my dinner.

  • Curtis S.

What just happened?!? Only a week ago Curtis you were just here and had a great time things couldn't have changed so quickly! Well, they did... I had a big event Friday night and afterwards we were looking for a place to grab dinner and I brought up Casa Alegre because I was just here and had a good time. I found out one thing, my last review really was the Cadillac talking. The service could not have been worse. The place wasn't very packed yet all the servers were running around like crazy getting nothing done. Our drinks took over 10 minutes to get, then another 10-15 of no waitress until she stopped by to grab our order. After asking for chips and salsa and refills 5 TIMES, it was just about over till the manager asked us to please stay. When we got our food it was very mediocre and had nothing special about it. My XX was good I suppose, but you can't mess up a bottled beer. The question now is do I go back a third time somewhere down the road to break the tie... not sure, all I know is I won't be back for a while.

Walking around Louisville one night we were told to go here. Terrific food! Loved every minute of it! Get margaritas while you're there and sit back and relax for the evening. Humongous portions and delicious slow roasted chicken, pork, beef, you name it are a treat to eat. Don't bother with other places in Louisville and even Efrain's in Lafayette is a bit overrated. Head to Casa Alegre!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Colorado. The food is great at Santiago's, but it's a to-go joint so not really in the running here :). I've been here literally dozens of times. The patio is great, and with music can really feel like Mexico. It's great for kids because the owners keep their kids there and all the toys and scooters and stuff that go with it. This can, however, be loud an annoying for other patrons on the patio. I love the food. It's authentic to Mexico but even better. The chimichanga, chalupa, and carne asada are a must have. The fresh salsa plated as soon as you sit is EXCELLENT. Behind the bar their is a horse or donkey hoof bottle holder with an unmarked bottle of tequila. This is homemade tequila that the owners get from friends in Mexico and they're happy to share. I will note that my wife is not impressed by the food which I fail to understand.. She does seem to like the Sangria though. I'd highly recommend this place, especially the patio if you have kids. The food is great and atmosphere fun and relaxed. Service is also excellent.

My favorite Mexican restuarant in Boulder County--maybe in all of Colorado! I will start craving their chicken tacos al carbon if I haven't had them in a few days. So good! Plus the restaurant is located in an historic building so they have an awesome bar with 2 gunshot holes from the days of the Wild West! The staff is very friendly as well.

    (5)
  • John E.

Disappointed. My wife an I chose to share the $18.50 super-duper Case Alegre signature burrito with the buy-up steak option. What was inside was mostly lettuce and rice. Steak was tiny little flecks of beef ... not even sure how the bid that. I'll post a pic if I can. Place was not the cleanest. Service was slow with almost no customers; staff was pretty interested in the soccer game on TV that day. Consider Efrain's or El Tapatio instead if you're looking for Mexican in this area.

This restaurant has a fun little feature where you can stand at the urinal doing your business and wave through the window at people walking up the street! Just strange.

  • Nick M.

This place is bomb. I usually mix my entree up, but you can never go wrong with their fajitas/burritos. The portions are massive so bring your appetite. I recommend any margarita as they will make you lean all day! BTW Weekends have live music on their sick patio, great atmosphere, and solid staff!

  • Nory B.

Came in at 3pm on the day before Thanksgiving and were one of 3 tables. As usual, water and chips and salsa came out right away. The service is friendly and quick; the food is large portioned, really hot and delicious! My husband had the chicken fajitas, my son had carne asada tacos and I had the pollo asada. The only suggestion for improvement is that it could be a little spicier. Definitely come here if you're on Main Street in Louisville!

This place has some HUGE burritos! The Vegetarian Burrito is pretty good; it's even better if you add the green Mexican "tomatillo" sauce (which is also vegetarian). It does not come with any sides, unless you count guacamole and sour cream. But the price is really fair and the portion is huge so that easily makes up for it. Besides, you can order rice and beans on the side if you really want more. I ordered my burrito to-go, so I did not get to experience the service or the atmosphere of the restaurant. I will say, though, that they included chips & salsa in the to-go order, which was nice. I will definitely come back to try some of their other offerings.

This is my go to place for affordable Mexican. Food is always nice and tasty, hot and fresh. The servers might seem a little hap-hazard, but they always seem to get the order right and is appropriate for a small family restaurant. The patio is great, atmosphere nice, just a great local place!

I got the combo fajitas and they cooked a big piece of plastic which they included in my meal, I'll never eat here again.

Terrible tacos. Maybe the worst I have ever had. The shells were the premade ones you buy and the grocery store. Probably Ole brand. Will never eat here again.

Just traveling through town and stopped at Casa Alegra. The atmosphere is quaint with a lot of personality. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The selections were numerous and the food was excellent! The margaritas and sangrias were tasty. I would highly recommend this place. Starting May 3, 2015 they'll have music...even better!

Perfect place to enjoy delicious Mexican food and margs (try the Cadillac!). In the summer the patio is beautiful at night with party lights and a big giant tree growing smack in the middle. Gustavo and Marina are welcoming and make you want to come back again and again just to see their friendly faces. Beautiful carved bar and you get to watch the train go by! Great way to begin the weekend.

I am so excited to have an excellent Mexican restaurant so close to home. The service was great even though they were getting ready to close. They had live music on a Monday night which I thought lovely. Their food is delicious and very much authentic Mexican food. I have had the hardest time finding a good Mexican joint since moving from Texas. I highly recommend this place if you are in need of good Mexican food.

Very Disappointed! We have eaten here several times over the last few years, but I have to say that our latest visit was a let down. We sat outside on the great patio and ordered some margaritas to start. The chips were chewy and the salsa had a burned taste. When the margaritas arrived, they were so warm, the ice melted immediately. I ordered the steak fajitas and my wife ordered the chicken fajitas. We both agreed, there was something off about the flavor. Both dishes were extremely greasy and covered in oil and honestly did not have any "fajita" flavor. With so many other local Mexican food places to try, I think we'll skip Casa Alegre in the future. What a disappointment.

They had a small band playing and a bit of a line but the hostess made us feel very welcome and went out of her way to explain various dishes to us. It felt like we were going to have dinner at someone's home in Mexico, very authentic in many ways. The medium margharita was substantial in size and a great start to a wonderful meal. While we were not too impressed with how my wife's pork dish came out it, the pollo en mole was excellent. The black beans were delicious, the chicken very tender and tasty. They have room for a group or two, plenty of booths plus regular tables. A bar in the front area served as a stage for a three person band who played very nice Mexican songs. Highly recommended for a lively and fun dinner out with friends.

We had a lunch for 14 people at Casa Alegre in Louisville on May 9th and thought it was Great. I had made a reservation in advance knowing a large group is often difficult to get seating anywhere. The staff at Casa Alegre took really good care of our family group. We sat in the large back dining room and had great service, plenty of chips, salsa, drinks and the main course meals were delivered quickly. There were no complaints from all the hefty eaters in our group. We even finished lunch off with some dessert. The sopapillas with ice cream (strawberry) were a big hit. Thanks again for a great meal, great customer service and overall a good value for the money spent. Gracias!

I was craving mexican food and a margarita on Friday after work so I thought I would give Casa Alegre a try. My decision was a bad one the only positive from my experience is the cool interior of the building and the huge patio. The chips were too thick and not fresh, the salsa was average and getting a refill has to be requested. I ordered a margarita and they do not know how to make a good margarita. We ordred the steak/chicken fajitas for two, terrible fajitas the veggies were mushy from overcooking and the whole mess was almost a soup. The service was just okay, no smiles from any of the staff. I will not be returning to waste my money in the future.

Been here quite a few times in the past as I loved their Sopa de Albondigas soup, but it's been a while. Evidently something has changed here, the bowl of soup was smaller than I remembered and unfortunately the bowl I had today had shards of sharp plastic in it. Kind of really ruins one's appetite. Very unfortunate as good Mexican food is surprisingly hard to find in Boulder county.

Service was great! However, the margarita was so weak as if it'd been watered down... And as for food, my family and I will not be returning.

My sister and I met here for lunch.....my first time here. The reason for my 3 stars are: Because this place is average...not bad but not GREAT. The food is avg.....the service is avg.....the drinks are avg. and the decor is avg. If you just want a good, average mexican place it is perfect. They do have a nice outdoor patio so I will be going back when the weather warms up a bit.

can't seem to get my arms around this place. I'm up from austin Texas so very familiar with " taco trucks", small kitchens in busy corner groceries, upscale Mexican restaurants, folksy places. not sure what this restaurant is trying to be. menu is big and aggressive, wide ranging. complicated. can there be too many menu choices? I'm stumped. both times I have eaten here the food was good. spacious, pretty back bar, lots of staff, quick service. it's the vibe. maybe. ain't none. dunno. like I said I'm stumped.

This place has loads of potential due to its awesome location and lovely building. We arrived at 5:30 and ordered a margarita and a beer. I had the traditional margarita that the waiter recommended. After we were served our drinks, he came to take our order and I asked about HH specials. He said they have their house marg for 2.97 and some beer special. I thought he might have offered that info before I ordered the traditional marg that turned out to be 8 bucks. I ordered a house marg to compare and thought it was actually similar or better. I felt a bit upcharged for my first time there and am sure the waiter would not say he was trying to upcharge, but they should give you the HH menu or tell you about the HH specials when you first sit down.

Certainly one of our regular places. Rellenos can be made either crispy or soft; both are delicious. Green chili is good. Husband usually gets a combination plate with a few different enchiladas. Margaritas are always good, chips and salsa are great, beer is always cold. Though we both agree that the entree items are better here, Efrain's has better rice and beans. Santiago's is good but a different kind of Mexican food. Staff has always been very friendly. Live music on Friday nights. Bathrooms have always been clean.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
