5 star chicken mole, best this gringo has ever had! Atmosphere is hole in the wall. Service is smiling, no nonsense... perfect. Food is the bomb! Can't wait to go back! Should also add, very clean and original art work on the walls.

This doesn't look like a bucket list place from the outside, but trust me it is. The interior is a fluorescent-lit array of mismatched, yet neatly arranged, furniture, and there is an old-school tube TV by the door showing Mexican soap operas. I saw that there was no salsa bar and immediately thought "uh oh, more imposters." We got our food and I was forever changed. I had the al pastor and carne asada tacos. They were on street-size single white corn tortillas lightly fried and each came with a sprinkling of its own garnish (fried onion for the steak, pineapple for the pastor) and a thin slice of perfectly ripe avocado nestled next to the meat. They surrounded a piling of the freshest, most delectable pico de gallo my palate has ever been graced with. The flavors in the tacos themselves were perfect in every way, I couldn't get enough. THAT'S why there was no salsa bar, these babies didn't NEED anything more! My wife got a green chili smothered burrito and was all agog at the sauce being made from scratch. The refried beans on the side were even from scratch (and you know how I am about sides). The place is quite clean and tidy, even the bathrooms are spotless and very sanitary. There are some other strange sights, such as piles of wrapped to-go plasticware on the front table, etc. It all adds up to bring a certain quirky character to the restaurant. If I could have married the food I'd have dumped the wife to the curb, wished her good luck with the kids, and driven off into the sunset with my pile of tacos while they blushed at my jokes about eating them later. I will be back again and again.

First time back here in 20 months & again we were NOT DISAPPOINTED. The authentic Mexican food was terrific. My burrito had a wonderfully limey guacamole on it. The tacos were excellent. The sauces were great. Nothing fancy, not much variety of beverages, but oh! the food! Already planning lunch here our next trip to Longmont.

Yahhhh! Every time I go to Longmont, I stop in here; and it seems to get better and better. I got two tacos (@ $1.50 each); man, that avocado slice makes my day. Fresh salsa, a bit of lime juice, I'm in heaven. Their al pastor is yummy too. Such a deal!

Great little authentic Mexican restaurant. If you love Coke and Pepsi from Mexico then this is your place. Not fancy but the food is excellent.

I just had some barbacoa tacos which were seriously worthy of 5 stars by themselves. I am also a big fan of their al pastor burritos. Big, cheap, and delicious. The only reason that I dock them a star is because even though they've expanded and there is a decent amount of seating, it isn't the dining atmosphere that I'm after. I generally order food to go.

Shared the tacos El Pastor and El Cubano. Both were fantastic. The Pastor was heavily spiced while the Cubano had subtle complexity. 4 tacos for $5.00 was a great deal too! Looking forward to coming back. Breakfast looked great, we might try that!

This is truly a hole-in-the-wall taco joint, and it's one of our favorites. We almost always just order tacos and chow down--barbacoa and chicken are the best in town, IMO. Nothing fancy, just truly good, real Mexican food.

Stumbled upon this hole in the wall on Main St. due to other yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The mother/daughter duo serves up authentic Mexican food and excellent tacos. Everything is made to order in a kitchen you can see from your table. I don't understand why it wasn't busier! Definitely worth checking out. Bonus: Mexican Coke in the bottle!

Generous portions. Inexpensive prices. If it's a nice day, get take-out and sit on a bench across the street. The food is OK. With a little more effort, it could be really good. I got the nachos with ground beef. Nothing really distinctive, but it was not bad. I was hoping for a little more flavor though.

My wife and I had a very pleasant meal. Pork tacos and an order of nachos. The place is very clean. I will be back.

It's a good thing Dulcie F. sent me her review of El Taquito, because I may never have noticed it on my own. She's right: This place is tiny -- their suite can't possibly measure more than seven feet wide. I've been there twice now. On my first visit, I ordered a $5 plate o' tacos and ate them on the premises. The tacos were pretty good, but not my absolute favorite ever. I did appreciate the generous slice of avocado on each one, but the pico was so mild I would swear it was made with bell peppers. Plus, the layout in the micro-dining area just doesn't provide a comfortable place to eat. (They'd be better-off losing the two little tables and installing a counter with bar stools.) Tonight I visited again, this time ordering the tamale plate -- to go! -- and I loved it. It included two tamales smothered in a chunky chile verde. The sauce featured quite a bit of tender cubed pork and had a touch of spiciness. The tamales and the chile verde together offered a rich and savory flavor. Nothing really stood out; it was very balanced. These tamales were served with the typical rice and beans, except that even these were unusually good. The rice, which at most places is normally so bland that I don't eat it, had a deep, roasty flavor that I can't quite place. The beans (which I always eat, because I'm good like that) tasted slightly sweet and almost fruity, as though they were made with olive oil. Unusual, but damn good. I'm glad I waited for my second visit to rate El Taquito Mexican Place. I'd have given them 3 stars for my dine-in taco meal, but after that satisfying tamale meal, I feel they deserve 4.

I love this little restaurant! I've had both kind of tacos (both were delicious!) and the tamale dinner--so tasty. Can't wait to keep trying the other menu items. Surprisingly yummy!!!

Ever since it opened I've been wanting to try El Taquito and today was the day. The special was 5 steak tacos for $5.00 (it's usually 4 for $5), so I thought I'd give them a try. It's a very small cozy place with counter service and two tables. The presentation was as appealing as it could be, given that they serve on styrofoam plates - colorful, fresh pico de gallo in the center of the plate and then the tacos around the outside. These were small tacos, on cute, soft, fresh little corn tortillas, with steak in the center and a slice of avocado. Ever have swiss steak? If not, look it up - the reference is not to the Swiss. That's what the beef was like from flavor to texture. It was very tough and sinewy, negating any other redeeming qualities about the dish. I don't plan on going back.

I dined in here for lunch. The food was prepared quickly. I tried some of the basics: taco, burrito, etc. The taste was good. It was served on a styrofoam plate with plastic utensils. Somehow, I managed to eat the entire meal without cutting through the plate with the plastic knife. The fork wilted. Afterward, I experienced "Montezuma's Revenge", which usually indicates less than optimal sanitary conditions in the food preparation, cooking utensils, or cook. Your mileage may vary, of course, depending on your intestinal fortitude. In conclusion, although the food tasted good enough, going back will not be a priority for me.

So the next Mexperiance just happened today. Mis amiga and I saw the Yelps about this "place". I know I hate quotes too, but describe yourself as a place? Interesting. We came through the door- it was cold outside and I tried to close it. It wouldn't stay shut- so I had to fidget with it while at the same time I was looking over my shoulder. Two ladies just kinda watched me and the door wrestle as they were at the counter having their lunch. It was a Chevy Chase moment! Didn't actually get it to latch. Then there was an awkward silence when we got to the counter. We both looked around and the walls were right there, I mean boxcar sized place! Interesting. They have the menu on the wall immediate to the right. To read it you have to stand on the other side next to the other wall. We saw what the special was and and we ordered. It was around 1ish so the place wasn't packed. If there was another couple it would be, um packed. We sat at one of the two tables. I got the smothered beef burrito, came out pretty quick. And It was a good looking lunch and I def was hungry. They touted healthy mex food. I have no idea what that means, but the beef in the roll up was good. The green chili wasn't fresh, because the pork in it was jerkied (is that a word? It had no sabor (flavor) = lifeless). The beans were kinda funny tasting? Interesting. Funny too was the taco falling out of of GF's mouth as she was chewing the beef sinew of her lunch! I was like- look away- don't embarrass her. Then i realized we were the only ones there and i laughed a little! So $11 for lunch not bad. I was saying as we left "I might try it again". And then I had to run a errand to the bank. And then it happened. You know where I'm going: you get this little cramp in your tummy and it gets worse- something was not right. The teller at the bank looked at me and said "Are you OK?" I said "maybe" and she immediately looked at her hands. Awkward, AGAIN! I got in my truck and hit the highway. I pulled off into a lake parking lot and rebooted my system. Yes rebooted. Not a pleasant thing. But I felt 100% feakin' better! Interesting. I'm not saying steer clear of the place, you be the judge. I'm just relayin' what happened. I most-likely will not try the spot again. Right? On to the next Mexperiance in NoCO!

Still the best tacos in town. Not to mention the cheapest. Just had the chicken mole special. Serious eats. Awesome.

Great little joint. Nuthin' fancy but tasty straight forward authentic Mexican food. The owner is very personable and uses all of her grandmother's old recipes from the Jalisco region. Good stuff!

This place was not good at all. We walked in at 4:30pm. The gal behind the counter looked so bummed out that we walked thru the door, she was watching the Disney channel! Didn't even turn it down or change the channel. Place was empty, service was slow and uncaring, and the food was gross. Rice was old and dry with old peas. Beans were good, enchiladas were just ok topped with old lettuce. Couldn't wait to pay and leave. Should have went to Burger King.

I often look to yelp as a reference to where I want to eat and this is probably the second time I've used yelp in Longmont and both times the food has sucked. So I'm starting to believe that people in Longmont do not have a good pallet for ethnic foods. Coming from Aurora, where there is a strong Mexican population, great Mexican food is easy to find. I could go on Colfax and find something amazing within minutes, but for places like Longmont, good ethnic cuisines are just near impossible to find since it caters to the populations taste. I had the steak tacos and the chilli fries. The steak taco was something I haven't seen in Aurora. I was expecting something similar to what I see at taco places on Aurora, but it looked and tasted completely different and not in a good way. The steak was covered in some sort of sauce which didn't taste very good and the avacado was sour. The chilli fries were awful. Fries weren't fully cooked and weren't crispy and it was drenched in chilli and cheese. It was also not hot either. What bothered me about the place also was the lack of adult presence. There looked to be teens in the kitchen making the food instead of adults which concerned me. I know it's a family business but I don't think it's appropriate to allow children to cook for the restaurant. Anyways I'm not coming back here. When I want delicious tacos I'll go drive 40 minutes to Tacos Selene in Aurora.

Definitely a fan. In my usual egress path from RMNP, I will be returning frequently. I had a burrito, which wasn't really my thing, but also had one of their steak tacos which was one of the best taco's I've ever had. Their tacos are smaller than what I'm accustomed to, but are packed with flavor. I really have a hard time putting tastes into words other than mm, good or ew, bad, but in the dead of winter I had a taco from there that was light, refreshing and the taste just screamed summer to me. Someday I'll try another burrito there, but until then I'll be enjoying the glorious steak tacos!

Found this place browsing Yelp, from KS. Food was great! Wish we lived closer. Everything we had was wonderful. Best chile telenovela I have ever eaten.

Noisy. I came on a snowy Monday night and they were dead slow. What noise you might be asking yourself? Well the Mexican soaps were on in the main dining room and they must have been making tomorrow's salsa because the blender was running the entire time. Other than the annoyance factor, the food is good. Tacos Al carbon was good, a little soggy but the flavors were nice. The service lacking a bit, but I'll take it knowing it seems to be a family joint. The chili rilleno is very good. Fresh chili, not crispy like I usually like it and the sauce was killer. Minus one star for being loud and inattentive.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
