The service was terrible. She kept forgetting about us, we waited almost 10 minutes for silverware after our food arrived, the last person (of a party of 4) didn't get his food until after the forgotten silverware arrived. We wanted to split an appetizer so we asked about the eggrolls, our waitress told us they came with 6, there were not 6, there were 3 cut in half. The eggrolls were tasty but not much to go around with the 4 of us. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, it was good, but I was in a tremendous amount of stomach pain the next morning, it wore off by afternoon, but another friend of mine had their buffalo chicken sandwich and the next day she was in immobilizing pain. So, stay away from the buffalo chicken.

Great food and great service. Old town, old looking store. Very clean and the service was spot on.

Leadville is not known for its cuisine/nightlife, but that should not be an excuse for such poor service delivery. We waited for nearly 20 minutes before flagging down our server to ask her to take our food order. Even then, she seemed offended that we had the audacity to ask such a thing. Once the food finally came, we again had to get her attention because our appetizer was incomplete. We had to stop her a third time to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. For the record the food was delicious and the servings huge, otherwise this would be a one star review.

Overpriced. Sarcastic service. Boring food. Decent patio but then their hood blew kitchen exhaust directly on me. I swear i could smell when they started my sister's grilled shrimp cesear salad. Anyhow, will not return but thats mainly just because the server was rude and thats why i had to rate them so low. Next time i will actually take the locals advice: grill bar or the taco truck by the grocery store.

This place was a lot better than I had expected! Our food was pretty tasty and service was decent, too. I had an awesome salad and soup and the fam enjoyed the burgers. Nice, simple food in a casual atmosphere and right next to Tabor Opera House.

We went here mostly for adult beverages and for the flash fried brussel sprouts. We were in Leadville 2 nights and we were at Tennesse Pass twice. It was my first time in Leadville. (I loved it!!) And for sure will be back to Leadville....and back to Tennessee Pass too.

Visited the cafe whilst passing through leadville and wasnt sure what to expect as from the outside it looks quite dark!. The menu was awesome though and i was spoilt for choice but went for the teriyaki buffalo steak sandwich but i substituted the Jack cheese for goats as i have intolerances. The sandwich was one of the best ive ever had, was feeling so smug afterwards and if i had one of these in the UK id be super fat! Brilliant!!!

Sure, this restaurant is eclectic, but I think it's sort of impossible not to be in a town like Leadville. I think our waiter was an excellent personification of the town itself: vaguely charming, sort of old-school, and rather absent-minded. I got the sense he really wanted to be a good waiter and would enthusiastically take requests about more sauce or water, etc., but I believe it genuinely slipped his mind as soon as he went back to the counter. But no matter...the food is where it counts, right? Well, it turns out the food is pretty tough to judge on the whole. On one hand, the brussels sprout appetizer was utterly fantastic, with great textures and seasonings. But then, I also have to weigh in my black bean-quinoa-corn salad, which unfortunately sounded way cooler than it ended up being. And then there's the entrees...I know we ordered pizza and a buffalo chicken wrap, but they were other the rather forgettable nature. These conflicting characteristics leave me dazed with stars floating around my head. I count three of them.

Great food, great service. Plus, awesome Colorado microbrews on tap $4 ea. plus good selection of bottled beer.

Great stop after our bike ride. Ambiance is great and staff is quite friendly. Food was just perfect in taste and portions. Will be back when we are in Leadville.

Unexpectedly fantastic cafe in Leadville. Quaint, cozy and the food was great. I ordered the Melanzana burger (eggplant, bacon, avacado, no beef). The side of brussel sprouts, flash fried and salty, were yummy! And I don't normally eat them, but these I would go back for! Service was fine -- not slow as others seem to think. We're coming back next visit to Leadville!

We rolled into Leadville after camping at Twin Lakes the night before..... Before all else, I wanted ice cold water. Bam! Got it within minutes. As I pulled hard on the strong, the mason jar felt good in my hand. Reminded me of the southern hospitality I grew up with.... so the name of TPC seemed fitting enough. I didn't catch the server's name who waited on us ( I was too busy trying to identify the song that the live guitaraist on the patio was playing)... Either way, she was great--very attentive and hospitable throughout (So if you read this, thanks!). She also helped move the meal along well with timely appearances that didn't take away from our conversation. As I leaned back in my seat, admiring the 6 blue umbrellas that shaded the patio, I heard good-natured complaints coming from my friends..... "Everything looks so good! I don't know what to get!" "uhh! Too many choices." "If I order this, can I still taste yours?" I threw my hat in the ring for the buffalo chicken wrap with a side of chips, and continued to notice the bright colors that adorned the place... Violets and greens on the walls, and gray rock underneath; the patio itself was lined by a black metal fence, but what made this less than noticeable was the potted flowers that hung every few feet and really made the patio inviting. another thing that made the patio feel like hanging at a friend's house compared to a restaurant was the casual dog policy. They were allowed in if well-behaved and the owner would be responsible...Great! This just added to the ambiance. When the food came, I was not dissapointed. Big-portions, smart presentation, no auctioning~ just service and great taste at the end. If you have some time to get a sit down meal, TPC has a good feel, great-looking alcoholic drinks ( I didn't taste so I can't comment), and a generous seating arrangement inside and out. The menu's burgers, chicken, pizza, and salads should be able to cover everyone's tastes buds in a group! Thanks TPC!

salmon was not on Ciabetta, fries were not hot, should have gone with soup and small salad instead, enchilada were dry, no cheese, and black beans dry , rice was good , but disappointing over all dogs all over the place , no room to manuever

  • Jeremiah M.

The food was 6 out of 10. This is not a place for groups. They don't split checks. If you have one ticket they will only accept 3 cards spilt equally 3 ways. And the kicker they can't make change...it's odd. It took 20 min to pay. Disappointing. Will not return.

Tried Tennessee Pass Cafe based on Yelp reviews. What a pleasant experience an a terrific restaurant. Hands down the best eats in Leadville. The Brussel Sprouts were equal to the hype. I had the goat cheese burger, Buffalo version. It was amazing. Awesome Colorado craft beer. The patio was the perfect dinner spot. This place would get great reviews anywhere. Five stars for sure and we'll be back ASAP.

Food is really fresh!! Made from scratch. Really good beer and mixed drinks. I would definitely recommend stoping here. Great service very friendly. After a -6 deg day at Ski Cooper this place made my day. Hot Pepermints Chocolate will warm your bones. Colorado High Country small town restaurant. I hope you enjoy as much as my brother and I.

  • Dave M.

Certainly worth eating at. We all loved what we ordered. The buffalo steak quesadilla was phenomenal. And Moscow mules to boot!

  • Noah F.

I would give this place 3 and a half stars if I could. We came with a group of 10 And they said it would be a 20 min wait. One we got seated boom it started there we knew our meal was gona be long with the very slow service. I ordered a few drinks and never got one of them and I also got the veggie burrito. I think it was ok but a little to fancy. It had artichoke hearts in it witch it does not need. Besides the bad reasons it was pretty good.

  • Paula H.

5 stars dog friendly with doggy treats. 2 stars service. Server not friendly, appeared overwhelmed even though not busy, numerous mistakes in order. Brussel sprouts rocked. The rest of meal average.

  • Susan C.

Farm to table movement-type restaurant and bar with creative dishes, delicious flavor combinations, relaxed friendly atmosphere, not pretentious. Menu is diverse, so extensive we had a very hard time choosing, very healthy well prepared food. What more could you ask for after a long day hiking.

  • Marsha W.

Best mushroom soup & brussel sprouts I have ever had! Really the best meal we've had since visiting Colorado.

    (4)
  • Annette R.

Ate in guilty fashion, ordered only the fried Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries (recommendations of the server). Probably quite unhealthy but it was vacation and both were delicious.

  • Rachel E.

We stopped here for lunch and the food was great! The nachos were fantastic (and huge!) and recommended. My daughter had the burger which she loved, I had one of the sandwiches and it was all great. My son had the pizza and it was fantastic, homemade so it took a little longer (which they did let us know) but worth the wait! The restaurant had a nice feel to it, nice and airy with plenty of seating. We opted to sit inside but the patio looked nice. Staff were not the maybe it was just one of those days :) Would definitely come here again.

Best place in Leadville / great food and all the spirit of the town "We're all here because we're not all there." I go out of my way when up in the high country to stop in

    (5)
  • Annie M.

Although the service is terrible and the first come first serve way of seating people does not work for this restaurant, the good is wonderful. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated until we realized it was seat yourself. This was the worst part of out experience because it was super busy and it felt like dog it dog to get a table. Once we were seated our waiter was slow and not at all lively. The only redeeming quality to this place is the food. Namely the brussels sprouts.

My family was visiting Leadville this afternoon and we happened to stop in here for lunch. I actually had my phone out looking for reviews and when we visited the best reviewed restaurant in town we found it was too busy to accommodate us. We continued down the street, looking for reviews and things kept coming up negative. We got here and saw a sign reading, "Huge selection of Colorado beers." My phone was lagging and I couldn't find a review so we went for it. Everything was perfect! Our service was fantastic, when asking about the beers on tap and questioning whether I should get one the server offered a sample. Not having to ask myself, but having her offer is a huge thing for me. Read your guest, customer service 101. We were a four top with two small boys, but treated as well as any table. Any server knows children are not a good sign. When we ordered, the boys both asked for pizzas. She suggested that the pizzas were pretty big and maybe we should only get one. Such a great suggestion, but we ordered two anyway thinking we'd just take the leftovers home. Which we did. The fact that she was not trying to run up our tab, but save us money was huge. The food was above average as well. It was pub food, but pub food done right. I had the Rueben with fried Brussels sprouts on the side, my wife had shepherds pie, and the boys had cheese pizza. EVERYTHING was fantastic. The pizzas were handmade on homemade crust, with homemade sauce and lots of cheese. The boys LOVED them. Our five year old kept raving about the crust. My Rueben was fantastic and I loved that they served the dressing on the side. Too often there is way too much dressing on a Rueben. The Brussels sprouts were excellent as well, but to be honest I've not had bad Brussels sprouts. When did everyone stop hating them? Seriously, I used to get them all to myself! And finally my wife's shepherd's pie was fantastic. I wish I'd taken a picture. We're only in Colorado a few more days, but we'll be back this summer, and my wife was already saying she can't wait to get back and try something new.

I visited Tennessee Pass today while walking around Leadville and visiting the awesome mines musuem. The service was a bit slow. I had to wait about 10 minutes until the server came over. My beer came out quickly, but had to wait another 25-30 minutes for my order of nachos with marinated buffalo meat. Although the wait was a bit long for an app, wow, the size was mammoth! I could only eat about 25% of this monstrosity and took the rest home. I expect to get another 2-3 meals out of this. Amazingly good!

This place rules. Great beer selection and good vibes, the Reuben is second to none and the Brussel sprouts with honey sriracha are PERFECT.

My family and I were passing through Leadville on our way to Aspen and needed a well priced, clean, and variety-full place to eat. Tennessee Pass Cafe fit the bill on all those things! The interior is incredibly well decorated, lots of trinkets, vintage finds, and quirky wall colors with an abundance of natural light. The food was slightly pricey for the size of the town but it was worth it! All of our meals were delicious, abundant, and just what we needed to fuel our long day of driving! I would rate our waitress a 7/10... She seemed slightly lost/forgetful, but got all of our orders right and refilled our waters readily. I would highly recommend this Cafe for all who are passing through Leadville - it was a treat!

I ordered the Tilapia Tacos and was served two small tortillas filled with a small piece of tilapia and a fist sized ball of cabbage. The sides were plain white rice and a small scoop of black beans. The fish in the taco was void of any flavor, as there were NO seasonings, not even salt, and it was boiled rather than seared or fried. If you like your fish tacos to be flavorless and dominated by cabbage, then this is the place for you. Redeeming factors: + Pretty good beer selection + Good appetizers + Friendly Staff

Ate here twice during our stay in Leadville. I had a simple hot ham and swiss and potato soup and both were very tasty. The sandwich was great and exactly the comfort food I needed. We came back the next day, Super Bowl Sunday, and had nachos. They were very yummy. Very delicious beers on tap and even though part of the restaurant is a bar, the guests weren't your typically "lively" bar crowd. Service was great. Only thing is the restrooms weren't that clearly marked. I accidentally used the men's restroom, but don't tell anyone!!

Dog-friendly. Homemade, locally-sourced food. Great flavor and quality. If I ever roll through Leadville again, I will have a meal here for sure.

  • Travis C.

All around great place! I don't like to give a lot of 5's but this place is pretty close. I got the nachos and pickle chips for a meal with a Boylan Black Cherry. Service was great, lots of food, which tasted pretty good. I'd definitely check them out again.

Look forward to coming back. Garlic bread and brussell sprouts both really good. Will try different apps next time to explore. Burger was perfect with chicken soup side. Bacon delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. One Rueben. one grilled cheese. Nice people working, good atmosphere, cool bar area, and great meal for the money.

After a weekend of hiking and kayaking and working up a huge appetite we had our last meal in Leadville at the Tenneessee Pass Cafe. It was DELICIOUS! The service is a little bit on mountain time but that suited the personality of the cafe. Everyone was friendly; the food was hot and the beer was cold; and honestly we didn't wait that long for food or drink. We observed some more uptight patrons throwing a little hissy fit because they couldn't move tables together (they would have blocked the server's path to other tables) and the staff handled it well. Fyi, city dwellers - that type of behavior is why the mountain dwellers don't like us sometimes. I had the Buffalo Burger and the very yummy and massive brussell sprouts. The quality of the ingredients was more than I expected from a small cafe in Leadville (my bad!). I will go back to try everything on the menu. What impressed us most though was that the staff genuinely cared about our experience there and the quality of their food. I can understand why there is usually a line out the door for this place.

  • Molly S.

A nice, little, eclectic cafe to stop by if you're passing through and get hungry. Their menu is clearly marked with what is gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. The sandwiches we had were nothing special, but they were good enough. They have a great variety and the staff was nice enough (albeit, they moved at a snail's pace). Fine place to stop, but you're not missing anything if you don't.

    (3)
  • Jesse B.

If you like to wait 15 minutes without anybody even acknowledging you, go to this restaurant. The only reason the server even talked to me was because I flagged her down. The irony us that this establishment is pretty small, so I am not sure how they could have missed me. Even after I talked to the server, nobody came and I eventually had to leave because I was hungry.

    (1)
  • Jen S.

We loved this place. Cool vibe, the chick behind the bar and the server were beautiful bohemian tatted ass kickers. The food was awesome. Hubby had a ruben that was off the chain, I had a salad and soup which was homemade. We were out for a day trip and stopped in based on reviews on Yelp. GREAT FIND.

Food was delicious! Buffalo burger and sweet potato fries we're excellent. Only thing I didn't like was the broccoli slaw...

Best food and people in Leadville. This is our favorite restaurant in the area, the baked brie is awesome along with the friendly staff. I have eaten there many times and always loved the food.

This was a great surprise to find in Leadville. We were staying a motel near by and looking for something yummy. I was so glad to see all their vegetarian options. We ordered a pizza, and eggplant sandwich and the nachos. We had plenty of food for dinner as well as the next day. Their menu is huge and everything looks great. I will be sure to return if we are ever hungry in Leadville again.

Best food in Leadville, great burgers and salads. Service is great, they really treat you right. Only complaint is sometimes they don't have all their menu items and you end up ordering your second choice, but it's still fabulous.

  • Karina E.

This place is it! Service was so friendly and the food was just what we needed to break up a long, snowy drive home. What a surprise that the burger came on a perfect pretzel roll! Thanks Tennessee Pass Cafe, we'll be back.

  • Moss D.

We left 15 minutes after our server said he'd bring waters and menus out to our table on the patio; we were left high and dry. We looked around and none of the other seated tables around us had ordered their food yet. This place didn't seem to have much going on ambience wise and the staff certainly didn't have it together. What is it with Leadville having terrible service at every restaurant?

    (1)
  • Chris C.

Excellent service and hospitality. Our server Andrew was attentive and friendly. Then food was outstanding. Try the Brussels Sprouts!

    (5)
  • Kira J.

This place is great for a wide variety of food options. They have curry, burgers, quesadillas, salads, and pretty cheap beer too. They have lots of vegetarian options, my favorites are the Dill Havarti Sandwich - get it with the pasta salad which is excellent, and the quesadilla which uniquely comes with sweet potatoes - great combination. They also have great salads and really good humus. Good stuff.

I wanted to enjoy it...I truly did. This was a place the locals told us that we had to go to. However, upon entering we stood around without guidance as to if we seat ourselves or what. When someone appeared from the back room two minutes later we sat. The happy hour menu was being "phased out" and two of the 5 items were not available. No biggie...they still had an extensive menu. I looked through the menu...many items were crossed out with magic marker. I asked the waiter how the three meat lasagna was, and he said it was great. I decided that my decision was made. When it arrived, it looked good...but after a few bites, i realized that they most likely had "Chef Mike" in the back as much of the lasagna was cold and they must have nuked it. IT made me sad, as I (again) wanted to like it. But I didn't. My colleague had the Gyro, which she stated was "OK" and that she "has had better". Maybe we hit the place on an off night, but it may be a sign of the way things have progressed in this town as some of the better places that I visited in the past have closed. P.S. The sign outside stated that breakfast is no longer being served for now.

    (2)
  • Agnieszka W.

They offer gluten free bread and have menu items that are gluten free. Good drinks. Solid burgers and the quinoa salad is very tasty. Service was quick and helpful. Give it a try despite those reviews that complain about breakfast.

  • Cheryl A.

Don't bother eating here. The service is terrible. We had to ask to be waited on three times just to get menus. Then we ordered and they were out of what we wanted. Then people were getting served before us that ordered after. Took a full hour to get our food.

If you are not into traditional, heavy meals, this might be the place for you. It was a godsend for me. An oasis in the desert. It has a great casual vibe, offers a nice variety, and at good prices. They were out of something but given this town's out-of-the-way location and 10k+ altitude, I was amazed at the freshness and care of the food. Vegetarian friendly.

Not worth the hassle if your not a local. Came during a rush and wasn't given the time of day/ ignored at the bar. Heard the food was ok but I guess they didn't want our money or patronage . Poor show

I went to the Tennessee Pass Cafe with a large group on Father's Day, many of whom were fathers. A couple days beforehand, we had made accommodations with the restaurant to get some Father's Day breakfast there around 11. They normally stop serving it at 11, and we cleared it with them so as not to put them out upon our arrival. They took our name and said, A, OK. When we arrived, the waitress told us that if we wanted breakfast, we'd have to go to the Golden Burro down the road, which is the equivalent of eating out of a dumpster, really. We suggested that she should probably do a better job of communicating with her weekday staff as we had made prior arrangements. Incredulous, she brushed off the suggestion, and we accepted our fate...lunch. Just then, a member of our group--a father--asked her in a separate conversation why we couldn't get breakfast. She totally snapped, yelling at him irrationally, obviously not capable to taking a little justified heat. So, naturally, we got up and left. My take on the Tennessee Pass Cafe is this: 1) If you're not a local/aka repeat customer, beware that there's a waitress there that apparently has little to no appreciation for your business. After we walked in, there seemed to be a sort of strange xenophobia looming about her face, as if we were somehow subhuman. (Of course, we had been out camping for three days, so maybe it was just the smell.) 2) If you're in a large group (more than four people), you might want to move on to the next town over. The restaurant vibe is probably better for smaller groups. 3) The food is actually pretty OK. We'd eaten there in the past, and quite honestly, it's the best option in Leadville for breakfast, so props to the chef. 4) If you want breakfast, get there by 10:30 for God's sake, or you may get yelled at. After years of going to the cafe, the fact that we were treated so poorly by that horrible, horrible waitress on Father's Day after going out of our way to give her restaurant a respectful heads up was a big letdown. I had to say goodbye to my father in a rush (who I only see a couple of times a year), instead of getting to spend a couple more hours with him, all because her ego was too sensitive to take some fair criticism. All we expected was to be treated with respect, even if it meant "no" on breakfast. Heck, we would have had lunch. Who cares, really. Instead, she made a scene in front of the whole restaurant and I know of at least 15 people who will never step foot in that place again, no matter how good the food is.

I searched yelp before going to Leadville for various restaurants. We chose this one over all the others. I was surprised how small it was inside but efficient. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun. The service was excellent and prompt. The orders were correct the first time. I had the Bison burger which was cooked correctly and was fantastic. They had a good beer selection and the waiter had good knowledge of the different craft beers. This place was a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend this place and definitely come back here.

I wanted this place to be great, the atmosphere is awesome, such a great location for our little town. BUT... NOT GOOD! The wait staff is stuffy & a bit rude. The food just isn't all that good. Its okay, some of it is tasty. but mostly, I can make it myself much better! My family has gone there multiple times in the past, & they say the same thing every time "WHY did we go there again?" The inside is neat, but uncomfortable & way too crowded with empty chairs/tables! Once, our large group ate outside, & it was very uncomfortable, & a "regular" was outside too smoking right next to us (though none of us smoke & I am highly allergic & get sick around smoke) that didn't seem to bother him. He had a small dog as well, (inside the gated, closed off outside dining area) & it was cute & fine but then he let it wander on its own, & it actually PEED under our table. We were NOT happy, at all, but he & the waitress could have cared less, they actually thought we were nuts complaining about such a cute dog peeing underneath where we were eating. REALLY? Never go back!!!!! They are also getting to be a party place after hours. I lived nearby in an apartment for 9 months & it was CONSTANTLY loud with rude partier's who cared nothing about getting drunk & waking up the entire neighborhood. So annoying! If you're in Leadville, looking for a great but quaint place to eat, go up the street to Zichetellas. WONDERFUL Italian food, great for ANYONE & EVERYONE, good people, wonderful prices! SKIP TENNESSEE PASS CAFE!!!!

If you are looking for a quiet, local mountain pub experience, I would strongly suggest the Tennessee Pass. The service was excellent. My husband and I ordered the nacho appetizer (which was wonderful), and our server immediately told us that we probably would only want to order one entree to split because the nachos consisted of so much food! I was surprised by his honesty: it's not often a business advises you to buy less! He was completely correct in his advice and we still had leftovers ordering only 1 entree. Our server was also very friendly, asking about out trip and giving us advice as to where to go in town. The food itself tasted fresh and wholesome. Their salads are beautiful and delicious! Definitely try their quinoa and black bean salad! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Leadville.

Be patient because service is very slow but friendly, and it's one of the better places to eat in Leadville after a long day trail running, mtn biking, hiking, rafting, road biking or whatever you do in the outdoors. They have an assortment of burgers (buffalo and beef), salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and a few pasta dishes. The salads have always been solid with fresh ingredients and you can add some type of protein, the chicken is moist and tasty on the cobb salad. They have a short list of good microbrews and bottles of wine. Their soups are always homemade and tasty, but they for some reason frequently sell out of it before I ever get there.

Took over an hour to get cold enchiladas and a plate of crappy nachos. Don't want to hate but the service was just as bad as the food. Hold out til you get to Frisco or Aspen.

Stopped in early for a breakfast before heading into the wilderness. Ordered scrambled egss, bacon & toast and the food was prepared quickly. Nothing exceptional but not bad either and since food in a mtn town can be hit or miss, this is definitely a hit. also noted a decent bottled beer selection in the cooler behind the bar so might be a good place to try for lunch

Not many options in this little two mile high city. I had the stuffed peppers and they were good even though they were a bit overcooked. The service was great and friendly. The atmosphere was surprisingly nice. It looked lie it had mostly been remodeled lately. The prices were fair. I would go back.

We stopped in here while en route to Aspen and we had a great experience. Definitely recommend the bruschetta, it may be the best we have ever had (and big enough to feed three people, we barely had room to split our turkey sandwich, which was also delicious. The atmosphere is very comfortable, informal - yet feels like home. We had a great experience, and we will be back again on our next trip out west!

After an almost two year hiatus I have decided to start reviewing on yelp again! Wahoo! Alright, down to the nitty gritty. I couldn't be happier to re-light this old flame of mine with a 5-star review of the Tennessee Pass Cafe. This place is walking distance from my winter home and it has by far the most unique menu in the area. Fried eggplant burger? No problem. Peppers stuffed with fresh ground buffalo, sausages and mushrooms? They've got it. Spinach and goat cheese enchiladas. Amazing! Everything on the menu is delicious. And I was sad to read reviews above poor service because that has not been my experience at all. The people have always been good to me here. Give them a try! My guess is you won't regret it.

A welcome surprise among a small moutain town, we first went to a deli then a saloon and decided to not eat at either of those the first one had bad service and the second was out of stuff, I'm glad we made it here. Everything from the service to the food was great. The wings are a stand out hit and I can't get enough of their sauce, mustard sauce and the honey sriracha were both great. Would love to go back unfortunately I don't find up self up that way very often

Dill Havarti Sandwich Breckenridge summerbright ale + high altitude a delicious, somewhat drunken time. Cute little restaurant, full of vegetarian/free range/locally grown/organic blah blah blah. Waitress was not super attentive, but very nice. She forgot my beer, and then offered to buy me an additional one to make up for it. I was already a bit toasty, so i declined, but it was still a nice gesture. Seems like a definite local hangout. If I lived in beautiful leadville, CO, I might be there right now. I highly reccomend that beer. If you get the chance, wherever you are, try it.

Mildy rude. They actively work at not having people eat here... I didn't even get to here because customer service was definitely NOT their strong suit. The hostess was definitely not interested in having people eat in this restaurant. We went in to put out names down with the aforementioned hostess. She said there was "a wait"...and didn't really offer to put us down on whatever "list" she may be working off of. I asked her how long said "wait" was...She responded that it was "long." I asked how long is long? She said something like "about 20-30 minutes...maybe longer." I told her we could wait..."we don't mind" (we were just passing through and did need a break from the car). She then started telling us that "the kitchen was going to stop making food soon, blah blah..." I don't know...Sounded like some BS excuse to get people to NOT eat there. Sounded like somebodies wanted their shift(s) to just end and to NOT have to deal with more customers. Whatevs! We walked across the street to some Mexican restaurant that was not turning away customers. Apparently the above turning people away is some habit they have. At the Mexican place, we spotted the 2 parties that came into Tennessee Pass after us...apparently also having been turned away... I understand if they are busy and short staffed that day but the hostess could've been more polite and DIRECT with what was going on and their inability to accommodate more customers...I didn't appreciate the vagueness and redirecting... Even if the food is amazing (menu did look interesting)...I can't say I would try to come back. That kind of service is a real turn off for me.

A better than average place in Leadville. I've eaten here many times. Love their pizzas. Even their simple ham & swiss sandwich on Italian bread with a side for $7 ain't bad. I noticed a few "horror stories" about the service in these reviews. I don't dispute them, but I'd say this is Leadville. You can have bad service pretty much anywhere in these small Colorado towns. Speaking for myself, I haven't had any problems here.

If you are up in Leadville, this is a safe place to bank on. Very friendly staff, a great selection of brews on tap and in bottles, and ecclectic food. One of their specialities is the eggplant rolls. They are very unique: shaved slices of eggplant fried then rolled up with goat cheese, fresh spinach, pesto and roasted red peppers. The rest of the menu looked really interesting, everything from spinach salads to curry to chicken enchiladas. You'll find them heading south through town...

What a treat. A couple of hours earlier I was on a plane nibbling on pretzels. We wondered in because we liked the way it looked and the outside patio was inviting. The bison stuffed peppers were great. The beer was great. Met the chef. Stop here if you are in the area.

Leadville is one of those cute, historic towns that has a lot of character and charm. As a visitor, it's great to pass through these towns to get a glimpse into the past. It's NOT great, however, to be a person looking to find great eats. On a recent trip, we passed through Leadville in search of dining options, and all the identifiable restaurants looked ... rustic and unappealing. Even the Tennessee Pass Cafe, which looks more updated than the rest of the town, didn't look to have world-class cuisine, but I guess that's why you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover. This place was incredible. The menu was so interesting, the outside patio was perfect on a warm summer day, and the service was extremely personal and fast. We experienced the same sort of dining experience you would at an upscale restaurant in downtown Denver, and yet we were in historic Leadville. Like other reviewers have said, I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed my time here. The Tennessee Pass Cafe is a must-stop destination if you're passing through Leadville.

I don't even know where to begin my rant about this horrible place. We stopped in for a little lunch after some rafting. Starving, I just wanted a little ol' burger. 1. Rude waitress. Really rude waitress. Snapped at my boyfriend's grandpa for wanting some extra sauce. Then we had to ask 3 more times for it. She was this passive aggressive hippy that wanted nothing to do with her job. 2. Ordered a burger that came without any condiments. I was afraid to ask for them in fear of her having a total meltdown. 3. Looking at my poor excuse for a burger I noticed bugs and eggs all over the lettuce, which was only made worse by the fact that I had already eaten a side salad that was no doubt host to the same family of creepy crawlies. 4. Not 1 but 2 hairs mixed into my meat. At that point I just put down my lunch and drank. While I have to give at least one star ( Yelp lameness) I will do so only because it became on of those funny stories about something going terribly wrong. Next rafting trip...Subway

Drove out of the way to come to this place. I had the buffalo steak sandwich and they were totally accommodating because I didn't want a bun. It was so tasty. My sister had a buffalo burger, which was also great. We loved sitting on the patio looking at the view. I'll definitely detour to Tennessee Pass the next time I'm in Colorado.

OK, so the service is a bit slow, or so the reviews say, but this evening we had a delicious meal and the service was quite adequate. The bruschetta was delightful , the spinach salad was a bit heavy on the spinach but otherwise very tasty. Strawberries were not in the house but blueberries were subbed. Our server was polite thanked us for our patience as we left. a local spot with good food,

Nightmare service! Our large party showed up after the lunch rush and were seated right away. Everyone in our group was hungry, but the ordering was slow. Then it took an entire HOUR for the food to arrive. I was told there was one person in the kitchen and "he can't be hurried". We were cranky and starving at that point. I had ordered their veggie burrito with NO cheese as I am vegan. I made this very clear when I ordered and they said no problem. When my dish came, it had cheese. I sent it back and they said it would be a LONG wait to get a new one. After watching everyone else eat and still hadn't received my new dish, I left and the rest of the family got mine, eventually, in a takeout container. When I got home and opened the container, it was a chicken burrito with no cheese. They got the no cheese part right (finally) but the veggie burrito I had ordered was served with chicken. Super frustrating experience with LONG WAITS and HORRIBLE SERVICE. I never even got a chance to eat their food since THEY SCREWED UP MY ORDER NOT ONCE BUT TWICE.

The waitress was really friendly in this restaurant and remembered us on the return trip. The food was pretty good. My husband had an artichoke sandwich which was really tasty and I had a hot spinach salad which I liked. We will try to make it back up to Leadville in the future and eat at this restaurant...

This place is probably good if youre looking to eat healthier but I desired more from the menu including french fries but they clearly do not like that. Honestly I wanted to go somehwere else because I felt the food was a bit pricey and lacked any sort of honest sense of purpose other than to be ecclectic rather than make a more enticing dish. I just ordered almost under pressure and left asap but the burger was ok

Wonderful! It has changed owners a few times, but it has always stayed the same. The food is great, I'll get things there I typically hate- eggplant, spinach, etc and it is delicious. Get the Melanzana rolls if they have them. Some nights there is live music too. Descent prices, great staff and a nice little stop off if you are passing through or live nearby!

The description for a 3-star rating is "A-OK" which, alas, would be a bit of a stretch, but 2-stars seems cruel. My friend and I came here after a long day of hiking and we were, to put it mildly, ravenous. Since I don't have a problem eating fish in a high mountain town in a landlocked state, and since the waitress recommended them, I ordered the mahi-mahi tacos. They took more than 20 minutes to arrive which, considering the restaurant was not full, was surprising. And while the fish was excellent (tender, flavorful, properly cooked) and plentiful (they did not skimp), the tortillas, rice and beans on which it was arranged were lukewarm at best. The dish really needed to be served hot....ideally oven warmed. My friend's entree also was not at the proper temperature. It's a shame, because after waiting so long, and seeing other people enjoying their food, we were disappointed. So, this is a hit or miss place...they do have an outdoor patio if you're there for lunch, which might make the wait more palatable.

This was a surprisingly excellent cafe. I had a chicken green curry dish and my husband had a blackened salmon & penne dish - both had lots of fresh vegetables and both were very tasty. Waitress was very friendly, though she was the only one so initially was a bit busy. Will definitely go again. I rarely write reviews but felt I needed to to do it justice.

Yes, this cute little place is very good. We stopped here after white water rafting on the way back to Breckenridge. It is a small place but the service was good and the food was even better. I had the turkey sandwich with pasta - very good. And several in our party had the salmon and liked it. We also got the Melanzana rolls which were incredible as described and unique. The presentation of the food is what I was most impressed with because it was small town food with a big city feel. It was classy, yet simple. I was impressed.

We ate here after a long camping trip and this place is great! I don't know about you, but I always drink way too much beer when I camp, seems there's nothing better to do as you're sitting around the fire, strumming the guitar singing then to drink A LOT. After 4 nights of this, we were worked and stopping for lunch at this cafe was a breath of fresh air. We were greeted warmly by an adorable dog in the back which caused the girls that run the place to come out and apologize for him which was totally unnecessary because he was cool. We went inside, Drew ordered a beer, Erin and I had hot tea to settle our tummies and our minds which were quickly brought out. We ordered a lot of food. 2 salads with apples, strawberries, lettuce, assorted veggies with balsamic dressing served on the side - really good. I had a grilled ham and cheese on sourdough- it was huge. Thick sliced bread, thick ham, great cheese- a huge sandwich that hit the spot. We had an eggplant app. made with goat cheese, basil, bread crumbs- so delicious! I forgot what Erin and Drew had because as I said, I was hungover from the weekend- drinking too much does that to me, the mind goes blank. Whatever it was, they loved it. The service was outstanding, the place is cute, and the food was really good. Homemade, honest food, served by really cool people, nothing better than that! P.S. you can always tell a quality place by the state of the restrooms, the bathrooms here are well decorated and sparkly clean

I really wish the owner was present when we ate here as a fly on the wall. She has put a lot of effort into her atmosphere and menu, but it isn't backed up with the staff and quality of cooking. Our waitress paid little attention to us after taking our initial order. There was a lot of time spent in the kitchen talking with another waitress and the cook about some party the night before. While we waited (and waited) for her to come back, so we could get our check, she sat outside the back, still talking to the other waitress. She made eye contact with us once, but it seemed to take another time of her making eye contact before it hit her we were probably ready for our check. I ordered the pancake and it appeared to be made from an add water only mix. My husband's breakfast looked mediocre. I never asked him for a taste, which is something we invariably do at a restuarant. I would find a different place for breakfast in Leadville.

A cute little place with vibrant colors and eclectic art. Great service, menu selection and options. i had a turkey, avocado, bacon sandwich with out bread, it was huge! Served with warm blue corn chips. Friends had eggplant sandwich, smelled wonderful, she ate the whole thing, Ham and swiss grilled sandwich was big enough for two to share, hot spinach salad was devoured as well. When we told them we were riding the train at a certain time they brought our food right out. Prices were surprisingly low. I would go back and send anyone I know there.

Located on the main street in Leadville this small café has surprisingly good food. Leadville is not at the top of the list of place to see in Colorado, more like passing through getting from Point A to Point B. We stopped for lunch on a Sunday and the place was packed. Only one person waiting tables, she told us to be patient, it would be worth it, so we waited. My wife and I had the tomato soup which was made on the premises from scratch. It was very good, excellent tomato base and flavor. It had a few too many onions for both of us, but still was very good. I had the marinated buffalo steak and pepper jack cheese sandwich. Slices of marinated buffalo, pepper jack cheese, horseradish sauce on artesian bread. My wife's had slice or real ham with swiss on the same bread. Both sandwiches were excellent. Served with the sandwiches was homemade warm blue corn chips lightly salted. These were also excellent. I could have eaten a plate of just chips. I am glad we got the chip over the pasta salad. My wife had the warm cider which she really enjoyed, it was one of those rainy cold days that made the cider hit the spot. If you are passing through Leadville or stopping to ride the train I would recommend Tennessee Pass Café.

This is a seat yourself establishment; I found many reviewers thought the service slow but thankfully we didn't experience that. TPC is a quaint little establishment located on the main drag in Leadville. The building itself is quite old and seems to made for a purpose other than serving food. Regardless, the owners have done a good job with upkeep and kept it looking rather historic, making it an interesting place to stop at. We both had margaritas after a long hike and they were quite tasty; they have a full bar with a number of specialty drinks on hand. We also had the nachos with grilled chicken added and they were fantastic. The chips seemed homemade or at least not from a bag. The ingredients were fresh and in copious portions. All in all a great quick meal for a quick stop. This is certainly a place I'll make a point to visit again. They seem to have a strong focus on locally sourced ingredients, something I appreciate fully. Next time hoping we have a bit more of a layover so I can enjoy a full meal.

Pros: adorable, quaint, cozy restaurant with lots of options. The teriyaki steak and cheese sandwich was killer good. The server was helpful and attentive Cons: slow as dirt (food took fooorrreeeevvver) , the cost of the meal is too much, the banana dessert cake was a huge letdown. -go if you have plenty of time. I'd go back.

It's a nice place to eat. The food is good. Better than I expected way up here. The service was ok. I felt like we were an afterthought. The kids cheesy bread and marinara sauce was really good. I had the buffalo burger. It was good but a little over spiced. They mixed spices in with the meat to make the patty and it took away from the buffalo flavor. Brussels sprouts are a nice side. A little heavy on the salt side. The salmon would be better as a grilled fillet rather than a burger. Kids nuggets aren't anything special but the kettle chips are tasty. Great local beer selection. Would have had more if we had been offered.

My boyfriend and I came here last Sunday after an extremely long hike. I got started with a vodka diet, my guy opted for a beer, they had a decent selection. Even though my cocktail wasn't strong it hit me almost immediately, probably from the combination of starving, altitude, and dehydration. We started with the Melanzana rolls and OH. MY. GOD. They were outstanding. Then I ordered the buffalo burger that had goat cheese and peppers on it. I went with the brussel sprouts for the side, our server, Kelli recommended it. Good choice! My guy had a buffalo chicken pizza which was also very good. Kelli did an awesome job of taking care of us. We each had another drink and were on our way. This place is a must if you are in Leadville. My only tiff with the place was their extremely dirty floors. When we scooted the table to have our room, it revealed nastiness that looked like it hadn't been swept up in years. Also when someone dropped a salad, the person who cleaned it up barely swept it, then kind of mopped, leaving a mess still all over. They should really be pulling tables more often to clean underneath, and educate the staff on the best methods on how to go about it.

First of all, they were busy -- I mean reallllllly busy. However, they got my bro's order all wrong -- he ordered the gyros and got the chicken quesadillas instead. I ordered a burger and when it came out it looked like it got shrunk by the machine in Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Not at all acceptable after a day of hiking. We should've gone to Quincy's.

Heard about TPC from short piece on Leadville featured in OUTSIDE magazine. Stopped in after completing strenuous 11mile bike ride on the Mineral Belt Trail , which is paved trail encircling Leadville. Ordered margaritas, which turned out to be BEST authentic drinks EVER... WOW! Next devoured their speciality Brussels Sprouts, which are split in half and flash fried, sprinkled with secret seasoning and served with honey Siracha sauce for dipping. AMAZING!!i next was their house nachos, again super tasty. Main course was Colorado beef burger , spinach salad and their triple deck burger layered with various items. ALL were super! Sat on outdoor patio and was very hard to get up and leave!

This is long, but I hope you will read it to its entirety. I have never posted a negative review, but given the shocking damage the owner did to our vehicle (vandalism described at the end), the call for towing that inexplicably occurred while we were actually in the restaurant, and the abuse we received after, in this case I must. As far as food goes, our entrees took well over an hour to arrive and came out piecemeal over a half hour time period. The first was cold when the last came. The restaurant wasn't even full so I don't know why. This was frustrating, but we aren't ones to complain. The truly horrible aspect was the owner's treatment of us. While we were actually eating in the restaurant, the owner called to have our car towed and wrote on the side of the car, in some form of extremely abrasive paint " I AM AN A***H*** PARKED ILLEGALLY (the profanity is not appropriate to be spelled out on yelp, or for my children who then had to drive in the car). When asked why, she first claimed it was because we were trespassing and never ate there (showed her the receipt), then claimed it was because we were there too long. She subsequently claimed we were rude to her husband when parking and that she saw us take things out of our trunk. This is an outright lie. We spoke with NO ONE when parking. If she is confusing us with another, I have no idea. We did remove items from the trunk before walking around to the entrance as the signs directed. I can only guess that she saw us remove the items, assumed we were not coming to the restaurant and became angry. None of this would justify the vandalism, and she certainly made no attempt to check if were actual in the restaurant before calling for a tow. We were in the restaurant from 3 until close to 5 and have learned the call for tow was made at 4. To add to the abuse, the owner refused to tell us who she had called to tow the car, saying "it was my problem to figure out, not hers," After repeatedly begging she finally falsely claimed the police had towed it. She also refused to let us use her phone when we explained we didn't have one-all our cells were dead. A neighboring company was kinder. The police informed us they did not tow the car (despite being requested) as it would have been an illegal tow for them. We eventually were able to identify the local private tower who actually had the car, and had been called by the owner. Notably, he did not take our money upon hearing what occurred. I have called the restaurant since. I had not realized the woman who was so abusive was one of the owners and I wanted to give them an opportunity to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, the owner continued to attack on the phone, showed no remorse, and and to the contrary seemed proud of her actions, making some form of snide remark that she should just give us $20 to remove the paint. She refused to let us speak with her husband when asked, despite her claim that we had spoken with him when parking. I don't know what time the car was actually towed, but as I wrote the call for tow was made while we were still in the restaurant. I can't even fathom what would compel someone to so vandalize a car, nonetheless on of her patrons. Our plan that day had been to do errand My husband, who was in a bike race that day, became sick, delaying our return to the restaurant significantly. Because the meal took so long, we though we would be rushing to the finish line and returning to the car shortly. There was no time limit to the signs and we had eaten there. It never occurred to us that our car would be towed, or even more defaced, by the restaurant owner! If you choose to patron this restaurant, be careful.

I can't stress enough how terrific this restaurant is! Tennessee practices a fusion of many different recipes, all testing the limits of your pallet with a taste that is completely unique to their establishment - a big reason why everything tastes delicious is because they only use the freshest of ingredients, making sure that all taste is optimal! My personal favorites are the pizzas, but I have yet to eat anything off the menu that isn't delicious ENJOY!

The portion sizings are pretty good. The salads are really good, loaded with a lot of different toppings. Their vegetarian burrito is amazing! I don't eat meat, but my family got the buffalo burgers and loved it! We ate here after two locals recommended it without hesitating as the best meal in Leadville. They have a large and very diverse menu. I had lasagna, and my wife had spicy chicken enchiladas and they were both excellent. They also have pizza and several vegetarian dishes. Although we didn't drink, one local told us it also has the best micro-beer selection in town. Also, there is a great patio, although it was too rainy to take advantage of on our visit. If you are passing through Leadville, do yourself a favor and grab a bite at this cafe.

My son and I enjoyed a lunch here while on vacation. He had the child's pasta lunch (enough for most adults) while I had the Spicy Chicken Enchiladas. My son gave the pasta one thumbs up (he's pretty picky so that's high praise). The enchiladas weren't spicy but were excellent none the less. The black bean and white rice sides were well prepared and complimented the enchiladas nicely. The service was outstanding! The place was full to overflowing but you couldn't tell it by the way our waitress performed.

This is the kind of place that will live on as long as the business doesn't screw itself over due to poor management, simply because there is no competition for it. So, it's easy for them to get away with things like completely lackadaisical service that will not only take forever, but will also give you your boxed leftovers in one hand while a lit cigarette is in the other hand. Don't get me wrong, the service was friendly and laid back... but perhaps a bit too laid back. The patio is a novel idea for a warm summer afternoon, but the execution of it leaves much to be desired. Old broken tables wobble on the pebbly ground, while the black and white marble top scorches your arms and makes you pull them off the table as if Grandmom just slapped you for leaning over and slouching over your food. Ah, the food. Well, you will feel sustained at least, even if you don't absolutely love your meal. I had the goat cheese enchilada, accompanied with black beans and plain white rice. It wasn't a dish that would have me coming back, but I did, in fact, leave full, so I guess there is a star to be found in that aspect for rating. If you plan on sticking around Leadville for a while, you will know Tennessee Pass Cafe and their employees well. It seems to be that kind of place, and perhaps then you will be completely forgiving of cigarette-smoking servers and chefs smoking in plain view of patrons. If you're a city slicker like me passing on through, you might be more appalled than comforted by the place.

Summary: Nice location that can't calculate the volume/value of beer; has confused notions of poultry; and is leafy-greens confused. Pros: friendly staff; laidback atmosphere and interesting art/wall deco. Cons: An order of Stella draft beer gets you 1/2 small glass of beer foam; the cook substituted chicken, on three (!) different dishes, with sliced turkey meat (without so much as a peep). ...Aw shoot! A bird is jes' a bird and dem fancified city folk, if'n they'd up an' really pick a bone 'bout some ol' bird meat not bein' chicken this or that, wellllll then I reckon they outta jes' stay the heck outta Leadville!... That said, we also ordered a mixed greens/chicken salad and received a full on spinach salad (prob. thought that if they could fool us with the chicken-turkey switch-a-roo, that they could also pull the infamous "mixed greens-epinardes caper"). Asked if we could get the chicken that supposedly comes with the "mixed greens" and the waitress graciously brought out the "very last" of thier chicken on hand... It was turkey meat. We didn't even know where to start complaining; and so, didn't. Just paid the bill and we shan't return.

My brother, a Leadville local for years now, took me here. It is a nice place and the food is tasty (except the pizza which leaves a bit to be desired). However, I am dinging them a little for the extraordinarily slow service and being out of about 5-7 items on the menu including the melanzana burger they are known for. Only hit this place up if you have plenty of time.

I got mistaken for a local at this little eatery and had to correct the waitress. It was too bad really because she seemed really excited to meet me. So if any of you see my twin up in the Leadville area tell her I am looking for her. As for the café itself - I just don't think it will be my restaurant / café away from home when I am out hiking for the weekend. Don't get me wrong the place is kind of cute and the wait staff is nice but everything on the menu was... odd? I mean don't get me wrong the food smelled good when it came out but the menu read like a bad stomach ache. So we order just a few drinks. The waitress completely forgot about us and brining us the bill and ended up telling us just to go and not worry about it. We tipped and did just that. To bad the menu doesn't look better...

A surprise find in a mountain town not known for good food. Thanks Yelp! We tried: Melanzana Rolls --A Tennessee Pass Cafe original. Parmesan breaded eggplant, rolled-up and stuffed with spinach, goat cheese, basil pesto, and roasted red peppers.Gyros -- Classic Greek dish, Seasoned Lamb with fresh sliced tomatoes, romaine lettuce, onion and Tzatziki sauce on warm Pita Bread. Eat here and take the walking tour of the town, including the Silver Dollar. You will be charmed.

Understaffed for off season, but the food was tasty and the wait staff was friendly and good about trying to make things good in a situation beyond their control. We had a lunch and a breakfast here, and both were far better than the price on the menu.

Menu looked good, waitress outside on deck seemed friendly and welcomed us to sit wherever. Went with a couple other guys at 3:30pm -- not primetime business hours -- and sat inside. Pretty hungry and thirsty, but no attention from staff in non-crowded dining room for 10-15 minutes, although one person was dedicated to putting out silverware and napkins on empty tables, and other waitstaff walked by. Now seeing these other reviews, I'm in no hurry to try again.

We chose this restaurant for lunch because of good Trip Adviser reviews and were really disappointed. The waiter was friendly and accommodating, but the food was just not good. From the iced tea I first ordered (so bad I couldn't even finish it), to the grilled ham and cheese sandwich (bread was just warm, but barely grilled at all...not enough to even have a little brown color), and then there was the side salad with the obviously old and browning lettuce leaves... very unappetizing). My husband had a sandwich on pita bread. The pita bread was so stale that it broke apart when folded. He ended up leaving the bread and just eating the filling. In all of our 10 days of travel through CO, this was the only really bad restaurant experience we had.
