Great food, friendly, fast, gluten free options. Delicious food and lattes. Special deals. I'm becoming a regular

  • Terri L.

Wonderful food and great service. Took home enough leftovers for tomo! Daizy was a great waitress with a precious smile.

    (5)
  • Megan M.

We ate breakfast there on Labor Day and both the service and food were amazing. The kids menu is even 5 stars. We enjoyed our breakfast on the patio and it was perfect weather for my delicious hazelnut mocha. We can't wait to return soon and keep giving this great restaurant our business!

A long-time Boulder favorite has opened their third location in Lafayette at 95th and Arapahoe - right next to the YMCA. Great breakfast food, lunch food and light dinner fare, espresso drinks and award-winning desserts. Happy, happy, happy!

    (5)
  • Shauna R.

Great staff, Great food....cant wait to return. Whats in those potatoes? YUMMY!!!!!

  • Kris S.

Delish! With this, its third location, the Walnut family, establishes itself as much more than a purveyor of perfect pie. The Super Mini Walnut Cafe gets everything right. The environs are as light and cheery as the friendly waitstaff and the wide variety of breakfast items are available for as low as $3 or as much as $8.75. They've considered everything here, even going so far as to provide light fleece blankets on the patio for those crisp Colorado mornings that beckon to be enjoyed outdoors with a cup of espresso, coffee or tea. There are plenty of healthy items on the expansive and well-priced menu, really something for everyone, including picky and light eaters. The place fills up at lunch so if you like to linger over your meals, make plans to get there on either side of the hustle and bustle.

Not quite as good as the southside cafe but we are suckers for all walnut cafes and will be going here regularly. So convenient to have one in our neighborhood. Great meals, good prices and perfect for kiddos.

  • Kyle S.

I really enjoyed the special. I would have liked a few more vegetables and a little less bacon, wait did I just say that? Just what I was looking for this morning.

    (4)
  • Wang S.

Super cute, the food and ambiance was really goodI love Walnut Cafes!! I'm glad a little essence of Boulder has come to Lafayette, I'm a regular at the southside but this is even closer to my house!!! IT would've been interesting if the Walnut cafe was in Old town lafayette, that area is slowly reviving I HOPE!!. anyways lovely people, tasty breakfast food and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

  • Jackie O.

We are new to the area and tried this place based upon the review. We were disapointed. The food was not good and it was not cheap. If this is the best breakfast place in the area then we will prob cook at home.

TWO BAD EXPERIENCES. First time, service was SLOW! Always a long wait on the weekends. Quoted a 10 minute wait that turned into 45 minutes. Sat people before us that walked is AFTER US! (Not to mention, we have a small baby.) Food is good/ok- Small portions, and Bland Flavor. Second time, our food was cold and they messed up our order.

    (2)
  • Heidi F.

We liked this place. It was busy, but they were able to seat us within about 15 minutes. Food was good. Everyone's order was correct. The waitress was fun too. I would recommend this place, in fact, I will most likely go back again...

I live across the street from this place. we walk here often. Saturday I stopped by with a friend and we sat outside. The food was good, I had a BLT. I think he had chili. Waitress served the food and she went exploring. Didn't see her again until after I complained. I wanted more water, it was hot sitting outside, especially after a bike ride. Called another server over and asked her for water. She said she would. She never came back. I finally walked up to the water area where a younger server was getting water and asked her to fill my cup. Later the original server came over and apologized profusely for the other person not getting the water. (I guess she forgot about her obligation to take care of her own customer.) Upon checking out, the younger server that filled my glass earlier, asked me how was everything? Are you kidding? Did you not remember my comments to you? And as I left, no thank you, apology, sorry, please come again. You know, some of you may criticize me for writing this, but there are too many places that I can choose to eat at and feel more comfortable and welcomed .

  • Fae F.

Always awesome breakfast and love that they offer Almond milk with coffee or espresso drinks (instead of just soy or rice).

    (5)
  • Clare S.

The Super Mini Walnut Cafe has become our regular weekend breakfast place. The food is really tasty - I especially like their omelettes and scrambles. I've also tried their breakfast specials a couple times and have not been disappointed. Top it off with a spicy bhakti chai and you've got a delicious, satisfying breakfast. The service is consistently friendly and prompt. It's typically pretty busy, but we've never had to wait very long for a table, and now that the weather is warming up it looks like they've opened up their patio seating. All in all, this is a great way to start your day on the weekend.

  • Eric J.

Went here on vacation and ate a fabulous concoction of eggs, sundried tomatoes and vegetarian sausage. Honestly, one of the best breakfast restaurants I have found and worth the wait.

    (5)
  • Bob L.

Much ado about nothing. No ambiance. Lukewarm coffee. Watered down scrambled eggs. Way over-rated.

    (2)
  • Steve M.

Try the Dana D's vanilla blast. Love this little gem of a place.

  • Randy R.

My wife and I had lunch here on Sun 7/14/13. I had the Phili steak sandwich that was served with tortilla chips and a pickle spear. As Philli steak sandwiches go, this was not very good. My wife had the Santa Fe grilled cheese sandwich served with stale ruffles and a pickle spear. It had lots of tomato/green chili mixture with cheese whiz on toast, not grilled. Both had diet cokes $20.00. Maybe better breakfast, but won't be back. Can't believe this place stays in business!

  • C S.

Ate here for breakfast & it was great on all accounts. Food, service, price & friendliness. Plus a great view of the mountains. A great "mom & pop" place to eat.

    (5)
  • Luna Lynn F.

I like this location better than the original in Boulder. It has a great view, interested menu, and the friendliest staff I have encountered. As a vegetarian they have a great selection for breakfast options and a really cute kids menu. My husband and I have liked what we have ordered every time we have went there and we have been there several times. My toddler loved the Banana bread and eggs kids meal! I would complain that it is kinda cramped in there but they are already in the process of expanding. They do have outdoor seating weather permitting and offer lap blankets just in case its just a little bit chilly. You may have to wait for a seat as this is a popular place in an area with very little breakfast restaurants, The portion sizes could be a little bigger for the price that's the only reason why this is a 4 star instead of a 5.

    (4)
  • I. O.

What a neighborhood gem! Sunday mornings find this restaurant packed, but on a sunny day, eat on the patio and enjoy the mountain views. Great menu selection and fast, cheerful service. What more can you want besides a good coffee, which they also serve.

    (5)
  • Gary L.

Very good but they need to find a larger venue. I do not like to be jostled around by other patrons as I try to eat. The food is just as good as the other two.

    (5)
  • Brad G.

Great coffee, food and service at a fair price. So pumped that Lafayette now has their own Walnut Cafe! I started to hit them up for their coffee To-Go in the mornings.

    (4)
  • Samantha N.

Yum! Food is always tasty, fresh, and served super fast. Staff is super friendly. Very accommodating to special dietary needs, as well as kiddos. We have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a table, and there is always fresh, hot coffee while we wait. So glad they came to Lafayette!

    (5)
  • Pat E.

Great menu and really helpful staff. If you like the Boulder locations, you will like this one. The patio is the best of all. Only reason not 5 stars is that it is too stark inside - if it is sunny (huge west facing windows) or chilly - can be uncomfortable to sit near the windows.

    (4)
  • Kris M.

I love this place. The food is consistently really good and the service is wonderful. It's a great place to meet friends and hang out. The manager, Nicole, is awesome. She has a calmness about her that is really special. When the place is packed full, she is on top of everything and never acts flustered. The people she has hired are really good with the customers. I would recommend this place to anyone.

    (5)
  • Hans L.

Just have to put in another plug (although it's already really crowded). Super Mini has become our "go to" breakfast place. Was so glad when they moved out our way and have become semi-regulars. Just do it - you won't regret it.

  • elizabeth m.

yeah. the talented woman of walnut cafe have done it again. a comfortable restaurant with great food, reasonable prices, friendly staff and a comfortable environment. when it's warm outside i love the sante fe salad, it has an excellent dressing. if you get it with the corn chips you can scoop the beans and cheese at the end of the meal. yum in cooler weather i like the burritos with green salsa or the turkey burger. thankfully, the iced tea is fresh brewed. blankets are available on the patio when the weather gets nippy but you just gotta sit outside and look at the mountains. overall, a great find if you like great, simple food in a friendly atmosphere.

    (5)
  • Jp M.

It was good. I like how they give you choices of sides for breakfast. The coffee has plenty of room to improve.

    (3)
  • Kaya C.

Cool tattooed waiters. Crayons for the kiddos. The best quesadilla I've ever eaten. What more could you ask for?!

    (4)
  • Natasha M.

Echoing most folks - I love the Super Mini Walnut Cafe. Excellent food, excellent service. I recommend the Eggs Marcos, Ranch Eggs and Sunrise Sandwich. My husband loves their omelettes and their blueberry cornbread will make you melt. YUM.

What an adorable little cafe this is! As 1 of 3 locations, Super Mini Walnut Cafe left a lasting impression on me. This place reminded me of my favorite breakfast joint back home, in the Bay Area, CA. We came here on a Friday during lunchtime; this place can get crowded fairly quickly! Our waitress was very attentive & provided excellent service. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time & the orders were prepared correctly. The blueberry corn bread was a highlight on Yelp, so I HAD to order it. It came out warm & soft. (I preferred this over the pancakes). The pancakes were okay; they were fluffy but didn't have much taste to it. I liked that they had sugar-free syrup for my mom, who is diabetic. The breakfast potatoes are well seasoned & delicious, definitely a must have! However, they came out at room temperature. I think they would've tasted better warm, but that was the only gripe I had about this place. It wasn't enough to overshadow my experience there. The portions are plentiful & filling. Overall, a well-run establishment! The pride and hard work that the owner puts into her restaurant is very apparent! We actually met her, towards the end of our meal. Thanks, Nicole! I wish there was a Walnut Cafe closer to me.

  • YJ Z.

I've been to the other two Walnut Cafes (in Boulder) too; the menus are identical, and the service has always been good. I'm not sure why this one's called "Super Mini" -- it's not really THAT small. I had the plain jane scramble with a cup of fresh fruit and french toast as sides, with grapefruit juice. It was all delicious! I will be back.

    (4)
  • Jimmy G.

I've only been there a couple of times, but it's always good. The GF pancakes are really good, & the breakfast potatoes are great.

  • Samantha L.

I love this place it is my family's go to spot for breakfast. The servers are really nice and the service is quick. I ordered the granola banana chocolate chip pancakes and they are huge!! I'll have to remember the get the short stack next time. On the outside patio they have warm fuzzy blankets so you can stay warm in the fall.

    (4)
  • Drew V.

This is where I go when I want breakfast. Great food. Pro Staff.

    (5)
  • Eve O.

Great breakfast spot. Really tasty pancakes and sides like blueberry cornbread. Very busy, especially in the winter when there's no outdoor seating, but it's never a super long wait. I love the atmosphere. Many employees have tattoos and such, and it adds to the casual atmosphere. Very friendly service. Good prices. I love the chocolate grananola pancakes. They're huge, so I can only eat one and I take the others home.

I think my mom and sister come here at least once a week, but this past Sunday was my first time trying breakfast. I was looking forward to escaping the kind of wait times you run into at almost any breakfast place in Denver, but turns out Lafayettians (Lafayettites?) really love this place, so alas, we still waited. But 20 minutes compared to over an hour is fine by me! I can see why my mom and sister (and all the other people crowded into the restaurant) love this place. The staff was so warm and friendly (I seriously felt like they were all giving it 100% and got the feeling that they genuinely enjoyed working there), the service was quick and efficient, the restaurant was cute and homey and the food was tasty. I love that the choice of sides includes all the usual suspects as well as some more interesting picks, like grits and banana bread. I got a pesto and artichoke omelette with potatoes and blueberry cornbread and it was all really delicious, although I think I liked the cornbread best :)

  • M D.

Meta at the super mini walnut cafe was incredibly nice! Aside from having great service, I had the Tuesday lunch special which was sauteed red pepper and onion on a chicken sandwich with bacon and cheddar cheese was delicious! The chicken was juicy and the sauteed onions and red pepper were great. This is a very cute restaurant. The decor was welcoming to me. There is nothing mini about this cafe since there's a lot of room and too many menu items. Overall great experience and staff.

I really like this place and am glad they opened a new location close to me. Nice menu. Nice staff. Good location.

Tops for breakfast--either for work or with family. Dana D's Vanilla Blast-Off wins for my favorite coffee drink, Shimmy Shimmy Coco Puff for the best coffee drink name.

    (5)
  • Coral T.

I love this place! My favorite is their spicy breakfast potatoes. Delicious. The blueberry cornbread is also good. The service here is great - the staff is efficient and friendly. Definitely kid friendly, too.

One of our favorites for breakfast Good food Good service Good price And most important, it's local

  • Ingrid J.

Just like the other two Walnuts, this one is staffed with sweet and wonderful people. I absolutely love the Big Dill Eggs- what a unique and delicious breakfast concoction! Also like the other two, the kitchen is rather noisy. They have added a small room that's farther away from the kitchen, but I've yet to sit there. I've always been bummed that they don't do Benedicts/Hollandaise sauce. But they make up for that with a big variety of sides, and fabulous homemade desserts. Instead of Hollandaise, sometimes I get the dill sauce on the side since it is also good on their omelets and quiche. Last but not least, I have to mention what inspired me to finally write a review: today, when I was seated (right by the noisy kitchen...bugger) the waitress informed me that I was at the coffee cake table. What?! Free coffee cake for me. It's a little gesture that absolutely made my day. :-D

Your huevos rancheros are the best. Truly. Here I am in NEW MEXICO and they can't touch what you do. You rock!!!!

    (5)
  • Margaret C.

Of course all of the Walnut Cafes are excellent. This is actually the 4th. The one in Denver on Colfax was marvelous while it existed, though unfortunately it is no longer there. Just a note: use the map on the right rather than the 2770 Arapahoe address. It is at 95th and Arapahoe in Lafayette, and the address given here is misleading and confusing. The map is correct. Nice place. Enjoy it!

  • Ben P.

Visited this place based on Yelp reviews...We eat out a lot after reading other Yelp reviews and have not found a problem yet! My girlfriend had the artichoke heart, pesto and swiss omelette just. She loved it! I was surprised she ate it all! I had the Eggs Marcos which consisted of two scrambled eggs with bacon, cream cheese , melted cheddar cheese, and potatoes. My breakfast was great! But I could barely touch my potatoes... lol My girlfriend and I both had the breakfast biscuit. It was great but huge! This is a great place to have breakfast! Although we both live South of "84th" we will be back!

One of my favorite breakfast places I've been to in the Boulder/Denver area. Well in all of Colorado. Great breakfast, wonderful service and all for a reasonable price!

    (5)
  • Banjo G.

Friendly staff, great service, fresh food, tasty breakfast! The espresso bar is pretty solid and the coffee drink variety is great. The food and the service has been pretty consistent.

    (5)
  • Mike B.

If you love breakfast, this is the GO TO place in Lafayette. It's a smaller size, so you may see a wait, but worth it. There aren't many choices in Lafayette for Breakfast, so It's great having them here.

  • Deana M.

Fantastic! Found it on yelp, read the reviews, deciding it would be worth a try. My husband and I love finding local places. We also love finding very family friendly places because we have a 3 year old that usually going out to eat needs to be quick, fun and a semi entertaining environment. To start it was pretty busy but also it is a smaller area so it doesn't take much to look busy. It has a very old school feel with the diner bar (love those) and an eccentric staff which we also enjoy, the more the piercings and tattoos and unique style, usually the better the server, not sure why this is a usual but love it. Almost the whole staff at some point greeted us, engaged in a fun manner with our daughter and made sure we were happy. The food was good, all the ingredients were very fresh, perfectly seasoned and not greasy. Then too boot we were offered their homemade coffee cake on the house because it was our first time there. It was amazing!! It was perfectly warmed, had just the right amount of cinnamon, spice and was moist. I would go back just for the coffee cake and a great cappuccino. Love the place, we will be back for more!

It might be mini, but this version of the Walnut Cafe is super. It's actually not THAT small. The staff is friendly and the menu rocks. If I lived nearby, I'd be eating here many times a week. Walnut Cafe has a well-deserved reputation in Boulder, and as they've added stores, they've managed to scale all of the qualities that make them loved in Boulder. Good food. Awesome staff. Fair prices. I wish they opened a Walnut Cafe in Longmont!

  • Diane N.

The restaurant looked packed on a Saturday at 11 am but we were seated within 15 minutes. I ordered the quiche and it came with my choice of sides. I chose the potatoes and pancakes. My boyfriend got an omelet, French toast and blueberry cornbread. The food came out fast, within 10 minutes. However, I understood why it came out fast. My potatoes were not hot. My boyfriends omelet was small. He said it was not flavorful and not hot as well. The pancakes and French toast were nothing special - a seemingly simple recipe that one could whip up at home. The quiche was ok. The staff was very awesome though. They were friendly and full of energy. This place doesn't seem to have many competitors in Lafayette hence an explanations for the better reviews. I rather go to a brunch in Boulder or Denver.

  • Steph F.

TERRIBLE. My grandmother and I sat at a table for 10 mins before getting asked what we wanted to drink and it wasn't even busy!!! Then the waitresses boyfriend comes in, she takes his order and gets him his drink before she made it to our table to notice we had left. I am not one to complain but that wasn't a very friendly or a good serviced cafe.

    (1)
  • Erica G.

I was just driving through and wanted a good cafe style breakfast, and that's exactly what I got. The waitress gave me a free piece of their delicious coffee cake because it was my first time there. Well priced and nice outdoor seating

    (4)
  • Anita Y.

I guess I'm not on the bandwagon. My friend raved about this place, especially the Blueberry Corn Bread. I had the daily Quiche with the Blueberry Corn Bread as a side. Ordinary. All of it. Blueberry Corn Bread was dry and crumbly. Service was friendly, but not really that attentive. I liked to be checked on at least once during the meal, but instead I had to flag the waitress down for water. The menu was ok and halfway interesting, but after my lackluster meal, I won't be rushing to go back.

    (2)
  • Rog D.

Great breakfast spot in the Lafayette CO area. The breakfast sandwich had olive oil rosemary bread and that was awesome. The blueberry cornbread was good too. I dig fresh sqeezed orange juice every time!

    (4)
  • Sean M.

Small little place that gets quite busy but the wait to sit was pretty short. I had the huevos rancheros which was pretty good. It was a nice mix of flavor with a bit of heat. I also got the boulder latte which I was equally impressed with. If I had one complaint I would say the inside seating is a tad cramped but they do have a large outdoor sitting area which would be nice when the weather warms up.

    (4)
  • Angela R.

Just as good as South Side Walnut, which means the food is great (even better when the kitchen isn't slammed, so go early) and the service is usually lacking. Doesn't matter though, their eggs are creamy, the potatoes are spicy and crunchy, and the pancakes are soft and sweet. Yum yum.

    (5)
  • John S.

Visited for breakfast with a friend. I usually don't like writing negative reviews, but my situation was handled poorly. I ordered the breakfast burrito which comes with a side of refried beans. Upon taking the first bite of my beans, I noticed something solid in my mouth. Turns out, there were 2 rocks in my beans. Fortunately, I noticed them before they could do any damage. I'm not sure the waitstaff knew what to do after pointing out the foreign objects to them. My beans were replaced with "clean" beans, but there were still ROCKS in my beans! There should never be rocks in food. I'm afraid to ask how they got there....

  • Donna C.

I know this is a big favorite of many locals but I can't agree. The food is ok. Really nothing better than what I might throw together at home. Been there for breakfast and lunch a half dozen times and have never been wowed. Sandwiches are bland - my turkey cheese came on white bread, not even toasted. Yuck.

    (2)
  • Oy G.

Definitely the best breakfast in the area. Love the interesting selection of side dishes, and the uber-fresh fruit served with meals makes me want to visit at least every week! Love the Super Mini!

    (5)
  • Jamie G.

I love this place. The thing I love most is that I don't have a favorite meal because EVERYTHING is delicious. I usually get stuck in a rut and only order the same thing at restaurants, especially when it comes to breakfast, but not here. Anything I order I know will come out fresh and delicious! The Boulder latte is my drink of choice. I don't know how they make a latte that doesn't burn my tongue but it comes out at the perfect temperature. Highly, highly recommend!!

  • Erika M.

I love this place for breakfast. Yes it is crowded on Saturday mornings and you may have a little wait to get a table, but I believe its worth it. Breakfast potatoes, blueberry cornbread, and the pancakes are all very good. This cafe also has the best chai I have ever had. Service is pretty good for how busy it can get, and always friendly for the many times I have been there.

  • Frank E.

I've been to The Super Mini Walnut Cafe 3 times now. The food is always good. Not great. It's good. At breakfast, I'm not looking for great, just good and they do that. Today, as usual, service was a bit slow. The food comes out okay, but you may sit there 5 minutes or more before someone asks if you want coffee. That's not good service IMHO. Today, it was quite cold inside. How cold? I had on a long-sleeve undershirt and heavy sweatshirt and had to put my coat back on. The place is drafty. I don't like to eat in my coat. My advice is don't sit in the main seating area. Sit in the area off to the right behind the espresso bar. Hopefully, that's warmer. Once someone brought coffee all was okay, except for the cold. The people working there are friendly and polite.
