This may possibly be the best lasagna I have EVER eaten. And in the middle of Colorado! After looking for a place to eat on I-70, we pulled off in Avon and I was immediately frustrated by the roundabouts! And the place was crazy. So, I got back on the Interstate and got off at Eagle, CO. Again frustrated by the dang roundabouts. But I found Pastatively on Yelp. So we tried it. WOW! Fantastic food in a local hole-in-the-wall type place. If this restaurant were in Las Vegas, the lines would be round the block it is that good! Just try this place, you won't be disappointed. Can hardly wait to go back. Will be the only place I will ever eat at between Grand Junction and Denver!

What a great experience. My husband and I went in for a date night on a Saturday and were taken care of by the owner, Roberto, who went so far above and beyond with service and recommendations that we felt like family by the end of the night. He was patient with our questions about dishes, made excellent recommendations based on what we said we were in the mood for, and he & Dave - the chef - made me a pasta & shrimp dish that wasn't even on the menu after I described my craving. Now THAT is awesome service. The Italian egg rolls were the BOMB, the dishes were hearty and flavorful, the bread and wine kept coming, and we were even treated to dessert with amaretto at the end of our long meal. Dave even came out at the end and chatted with us for 20 minutes or so to welcome us to the area (we just moved to Gypsum), and invited us to camp or hunt with him at any time. Great food, amazing service, and a cute restaurant to boot. We will be regulars!

We were just visiting town and thought that we would give the place a try based on reviews and proximity. I think that most of the other reviews are fairly accurate if you filter through them all. This is a small, probably family run, Italian restaurant. No, this isn't true Italy Italian, but the food is still really good. Prices are fair. Service is a little slow, but you should expect that with a smaller non-chain restaurant. The portion sizes are very big. Two people could probably share a lot of the dishes. The pasta is very well made. The bread and condiments pre meal are different than most restaurants. Italian egg rolls are unique and good (no sausage in them, that surprised me). Drinks were very good (beer, wine, sodas). I have nothing to complain about all. It is a good place to eat in Eagle. It is better than a chain Italian place

I worked in Eagle for the weekend and was excited to hear great recommendations about this place from a few people in town (including a local bartender...gotta trust them). The restaurant is truly family owned and operated and it shows in the level of comfort, the attention to detail and the overall hospitality. As someone who's worked in restaurants for years, I can say with confidence that the service was excellent! The food was also top notch. We started with the mussels in red sauce, which had a lot of flavor. I ordered the grilled zucchini and my co-worker order the veal marsala. We got SO MUCH food!! Each of our meals was enough for 2 people (leftovers!) and came with a side of pasta and a soup/salad. So, with the added appetizer we were overstuffed, but extremely pleased. They also have gluten free pasta - so there's no reason not to try this place out! And of course we couldn't leave without trying dessert, of course. The cannoli was awesome! Overall, this place has it all - atmosphere, big portions (at an affordable price) and great food. I can't wait to come back to Eagle because I'll definitely eat here again and I highly recommend for anyone living in or visiting Eagle.

What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant was conveniently close to my hotel. The italian food here is genuine. The Gnocchi appetizer I had was heaven, my Caesar salad with anchovies was wonderful, and I had the Veal Parmesan, and all of it was fantastic. It is all made from scratch when you order it, so don't be in a hurry. My only complaint was the 10 minute wait time I had between courses, I thought it excessive as they were not super busy, but the food was worth it in the end. They even say on their menu if you want your food faster go wash your hands and help cook, so they warn you. I Definitely will be back.

This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing. There was a short wait for a table but worth it. The chicken parmigiana was delightful. The lightly breaded crust was perfect. We did sit quite close to the table next to us but we didn't care. Tip: go earlier if possible to beat the crowd.

The best restaurant in the valley. The food is AMAZING, the wine choices are THE BEST & I'm sorry that some are offended by 'the hostess's attitude.' The first time I went, I noticed what I thought was an attitude. I chose to take the perception I had as she was an interesting person & onceI asked her some questions about herself...WOW what a NEAT person she is!! Love her & she is one reason we love going there!

Ordered the lasagne and it was very good and the two meats are very tasty. Sauce tastes fresh and really good too. My husband ordered pasta toscano. That was really good too. Sauce was a little watery than preferred but overall dish was good. Plan to come back when I am in town again.

What a delightful surprise! In Eagle for business and happened upon this place based on the Yelp! Reviews, it does not disappoint. Small, charming, and with a terrific selection of (mostly) Southern Italian dishes you will not be disappointed. The Italian egg rolls are tasty and brilliant. I had a veal Saltimbocca that was terrific and way better than what I was expecting. In looking at the entrees coming out of the kitchen, nothing looked bad. Wait staff was great, I ate at the bar, and everyone was friendly, but not intrusive. If you are in Eagle and only have one night for dinner, you'd be hard pressed to make a better choice

Went on a slow night, there was only one other table sat. Walked in and employees were gathered in the corner chit-chatting, took them about a minute to get over to us. We were sat, the girl that gave us our table was pleasant. Like I said, they weren't busy at all but it still took them about 5 minutes to come over and take our drink orders as the employees were talking amongst themselves. I ordered the lasagna and although it took a while (I understand food is made from scratch) it was delicious. The olive plate was also very good. Only 3 stars for now because of the lack of prompt service (especially when there's only 2 other diners in the restaurant). I'll try again and if the service is any better I'll update my rating.

The best Italian restaurant in the Valley. The place is cozy and immediately your surrounded by the sweet smell of tomatoes and basil. Large portions for a decent price. Good selection of wines. If your passing through Eagle, or live in the Valley, this is a hit.

Tuesday night they have a great dinner special. Entree (lasagna, Penne Toscana, eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti with meatballs or sausage, spaghetti with mushrooms) and delicious soup (I love the minestrone), or salad - all for $12.95. My son always has the fettuccine Alfredo and loves it. My favorite restaurant in Eagle!

Some of the best Italian food I've had anywhere. You walk inside and it's like you're in an Italian restaurant in New York City. Great ambience, great service, and awesome food. I had the veal - it was perfect. My wife had the spaghetti with meatballs - it was superb. And their beer ninja got me the perfect beer.

Terrible service - for a "no reservation" place people were placed ahead of us - 45 minutes of " your next" is bad - not to mention the staff preparing the salads and breads did not wear any protective hand gloves - the final blow was the person preparing salads opening the bathroom door for an elderly gent did not wash his hands after opening the door - YUCK

After our flight was canceled we had to stay overnight in Eagle on Saturday, and Pastatively was walking distance from our hotel. I am so glad we stumbled across this place! The food here was astoundingly better than any of the meals we had during our 5 days in Beaver Creek, and at a fraction of the cost! We had the Italian egg rolls to start. Entrees also come with a choice of a (huge) bowl of soup or a good sized salad. I ordered the shrimp ravioli and my husband had the chicken marsala, along with a very nice and very reasonably priced bottle of red wine. All of the food was outstanding! Plus, the portions were more than enough so we each had the leftovers to-go. Yay, Italian for breakfast!! The waitstaff was very nice and the just the right amount of attentive. The guys in the kitchen are very friendly, too and came out to chat with us. I really cannot say enough about this place. We both walked out of there wishing Pastatively had been much closer to our resort in Beaver Creek! Thank you for making our forced overnighter in Eagle a pleasant experience! If we find ourselves there again, we will be sure to go back. I'd love to try everything on their menu.

The food was so good. I ordered the sweet potato ravioli. The waiter was very nice and friendly. You can here the chef Dave sing while he cooks. It's very entertaining. The restaurant is small and intimate. I'm definitely going back.

Wonderful real Italian restaurant. It is real Italian food with good service and not just the $$$$ ambiance of other restaurants up the valley. My veal Saltumboca (?) was exceptional as were the muscles the table shared. The servings were large enough for me to enjoy the veal for lunch the next Day. They also treated the young grandchildren well. We have been visiting the Vail valley for 10+ years and hit a number of the best restaurants, and this is one of the best for the food.

This place is amazing! Definitely one of the top restaurants in the Vail Valley. The owners and staff are all great! A must do dining experience if ever in the Eagle area.

We loved the restaurant. Staff friendly and so nice. Egg rolls were amazing and veal marsala. Highly recommended!!

  • Mollie T.

I loved it. The eggplant rolletini was great. I had the lasagna and my husband the grilled zuchini. We both really enjoyed them. The portions were more than enough to share. I had the minestrone soup and it was the freshest and tastiest I have had in a longtime. Will definitely come again.

Hmmm, I returned to this business but brought my wife and another couple. Gosh darn this joint is just too good to pass up on my travels along I-70 in Eagle, CO. You simply must visit this little restaurant, it is fabulous. That's all I have to say as it's just that good.

We must have hit an off night although my dinner companion experienced the same thing at a prior visit. The hostess had to be the least inviting somewhat rude girl and pretty much lacking a personality. She didn't even try to have a pleasant demeanor. I can't imagine having such a person being the forefront and face of my business. She set the tone for the evening and earned this complaint via Yelp. A hostess should be warm, welcoming, accommodating and inviting....all with a pleasant smile. This girl appeared as if she did not want to be there at all. Once seated, as she walked off and rolled her eyes, two lovely gentleman attended to our beverage and entree selection. Love the starter of olives & hummus along with the bread. Soup starter...not much flavor. Entrees...Chicken Marsala and Spaghetti and meatballs were mild in flavor. The last time I was there I ordered the Chicken Marsala and enjoyed it, so for whatever reason it just wasn't as tasty as last time. It's probably the best option for dinner in the area within walking distance from several hotels. We will return, and hope that specific hostess is not there the next time. Again, the servers did an excellent job. The food was mediocre, as it required extra extra seasoning. The red & white table clothes are cute and the atmosphere is charming. I'll give it another try on my next visit ordering something different and update at that time. I don't like giving a bad review and wouldn't have done a review at all if not for the hostess.

I just love yelp! Without it, I'm sure we never would have found this gem, tucked away in a non-descript little biz park between Kum & Go and City Market. When we arrived, the only table Available in the heart of the restaurant ( the "back" room) was a four top right outside the entrance to the kitchen. Fortunately there was no door, so we got to watch the hustle and bustle all through our meal. Seriously! I LOVE watching a kitchen move it! Now, the food! One word - delish! Italian egg roll? Check! Lamb shank do tender it melted BEFORE it got to your mouth? Check! Seafood ravioli 1000 mikes from the nearest port? Check! So give this place a whirl next time you are in town....you won't regret it!

We're not locals, but have been here now 4 times in the last year, a must stop for us in Eagle. The prices are reasonable, bottles of wine for $20 and up, and we've had nothing but great meals each time. Amelia has waited on us each time since we go in the summer and she always does a great job serving. We will be back!!

  • K S.

The food here is delicious. Tuesday night special is awesome, but other nights as well. Last thing I had there was the Chicken Marsala and it was super good! It's tucked away in the small strip mall across from the City Market so a little hard to find, but definitely a must for Italian food!

  • Alaina A.

Pastatively is fantastic! The service is always friendly (Irena is great) and the food is delicious. The meal starts with bread and a plate with olives, garlic, and hummus. A soup or salad also comes with every meal -- I always get the salad because I love their house dressing. My only complaint about Pastatively is that it is not very vegetarian-friendly. However, they usually have vegetarian raviolis on the specials list (if not, always ask -- they usually have some anyway). For the meat eaters, the lasagna is a huge hit in my family. My family is selling our home in Eagle, and Pastatively is one place that we are really going to miss. Some of the best Italian food we have had, anywhere!

  • Chris W.

I visit Pastatively at least a couple times a year with my wife and parents as a special occasion. Whatever you order, they will start you with bread, olives, garlic, hummus and a bowl of fresh grated cheese - all of it good. Everything I've ordered comes with a salad, so that might be considered standard as well. They usually ask if you want to keep the bread coming even after your meal arrives - which is handy for mopping up leftover sauce. The portions are large - though not so big as Luigi's Pasta House in Eagle Ranch, who seem to automatically assume your order is for two! - and between that and the bread I can more-or-less count on having tomorrow's lunch, if not dinner, with me when I leave. It's reasonably priced, with most entrees hovering around a $20 price point. One piece of advice that has little to do with Pastatively itself - beware the rush of City Market traffic that usually coincides with dinner time on weekdays. Pastatively is on the road providing the only entrance/exit to the only supermarket in Eagle. It may take a bit of time to get there, so leave a bit early if you have reservations...

Yelp users beware!! Call and ask if the place is open before you decide to try. I have to give the place minus stars.I wasn't even able to try it. I'm just saying if you are closed between lunch and dinner lock the door and put up a sign.

Crazy Tuesday has great specials! As someone else posted don't go if you are in a hurry. They bring out multiple courses (bread plate, soup or salad then main course) which was great for a relaxing meal. They had multiple types of wine all for the same price per glass which I liked as well.

  • Joy B.

It was really nice to find a cozy restaurant in this little town. The service was great & the food was very good! I recommend the sweet potato raviolis! The only bad thing was that their bathroom was out of order.

  • David B.

Three and a half stars, really. It's on old-fashioned, family-run Italian place, complete with the checkered tablecloths. The food was good, as good as you can find in Eagle, but not outstanding. Service was very nice to us.

  • Brian F.

Pretty good! We stopped in Eagle, CO on our trip across the country, and decided to go to Pastatively for dinner. We ended up with waaay too much food for two people, our appetizer was the size of an entree, and our entrees were big enough for two! The food was well prepared with fresh ingredients, and more classic American Italian than authentic Italian in terms of style.

  • Zach N.

The Hollywood boys kick off tour from l.a. went into this place with low expectations. All we can say, "amazing". The best appetizer was the eggplant Rollatini melts in your mouth, so much flavor and full of taste, soooooo good!.. The entrees were tasty as well. I had the chicken marsala and was it one of the best marsala dishes I ever had and I always order chicken Marsala at Italian restaurants. Everything is homemade and fresh. Servers are extremely nice and friendly. The atmosphere makes you feel comfortable at home. Best of all the large portions are huge and not like the l.a. mini bites. (Gelato is a great choice for dessert beware: THREE MASSIVE SCOOPS..... mmmmm the cappuccino flavor was excellent. We kept getting, surprised, surprised surprised by the food. Overall, if you are going to Vail to ski, driving to Denver, or just driving up the 70, make a stop in Eagle, CO and I am positive you will like Pastatively.

Hands down the best Italian Restaurant for miles around! Definitely worth a stop, right off I70. We were there for the Tuesday night special - and special it was. Bread served with a plate of hummus, olives, garlic to start, delicious pasta fagioli soup (or salad) then the best lasagna I have had in a long time. All for $12.95. Even had plenty to take home to enjoy the next day. Can't wait! Make sure to save room for dessert - all made in house. Worth the splurge. We inquired about nuts in the carrot cake due to an allergy and Roberto himself (owner and chef) came out to visit with us to assure us there were no nuts in the cake. We appreciated that he took time away from the kitchen on a busy evening to stop by our table and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with him. My new favorite place!

My family and I were visiting from out of town and went there with on Crazy Tuesday. We had reservations set for 6:15 pm and were prompt about getting there. After the initial drink orders, we had to search out a waiter to return to take our entree orders. The place was not packed to the brim nor was there a wait for tables. It. took. over. an hour. for us to get our SALADS, after we notified someone of this issue. The food was okay. Their chicken marsala was a bit on the sweet side and their penne toscana sauce was very watery and just okay. The wait staff brought out comped shots of amaretto, but it would've made more sense if they'd comped our appetizers or comped a dessert as we did have children in our party. I didn't find anything outstanding about this place and was extremely disappointed in service. I'm hoping this review will help them improve their service.

Wife and I had an outstanding meal here last night. David, one of the owners was our server. He was personable and made sure we enjoyed our evening. They didn't have the first bottle of wine we ordered, he came back apologizing and offered a wonderful replacement bottle. Bread was excellent along with a plate of olives and roaster garlic. I had linguine with sausage and my wife had chicken parm. Both were excellent. Food cooked perfectly, pasta properly done. Highly rcommend.

Love Pastatively! One of the best restaurants in Eagle. Great atmosphere and great food. They recently expanded; now there is twice the dining room space. Fresh natural ingredients. Must stop if you're passin' though Eagle on I-70. If you're local and haven't been; go there now! Go there for Crazy Tuesdays!

My family loves Pastatively. We are a frequent visitor to this restaurant and are always greeted with A+ service from the wait staff and from the owner, who often times comes over to interact with our toddler who, of course, loves it. Great food, unique specials every week and a really nice place to eat in Eagle. My only slight negative would be to ask that the restaurant add more infant/high chairs as once we arrived immediately after 2 other small children and they told us they had no more child seats. But overall we love this place.

  • Art T.

Our flight was at a local hotel and Pastatively was the closest restaurant to our hotel. A short walk and one of the best meals in a long time! Portions were generous and the quality and taste was outstanding! They served us a plate of hummus, olives and roasted garlic with the bread basket! Wine was poured freely! One member of our party was allergic to tomatoes and they accommodated him with ease! Great food, cozy atmosphere. Separate checks? No problem! If we are still here tomorrow, we know where dinner will be!

Love this place. Great food for dinner. Last time I was there I had them do a custom special order dish...No problem. Dishes can be heavy on garlic but I like that. They are now open for lunch most days. Great Italian sandwiches. The lunch specials like meatloaf or amazing mac and cheese are not to be missed. Go here and enjoy.

I agree. This is not only the best place to eat in Eagle, it is one one of the best restaurants in the Vail Valley. A true cook to order restaurant. Chef David is outstanding. Small but inviting, a great place to bring friends.

First time eat here this evening. I had the Italian eggrolls...amazingly wonderful, and the Peppers and Sausage dinner which was also...great. Waiter service from Roberto, which was just right. I suggest anyone traveling through this area to stop for dinner and try. This is surely one of the best Italian eateries I have ever been. Thanks folks. Well done.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
