Denver deep dish is on the corner of 8th and Colorado. Actually it's inside towards the back of the "Bar Car" bar. I believe the story goes the owner had moved to Denver and hadn't found any pizza that he enjoyed so he decided to start making it himself for friends and family. Over time, enough people told him it was good enough to start a business around it. Truthfully I enjoy it. It's thick, it's hearty, and it hits the spot. It's proximity to a bar (inside of one) and I *believe* you can buy by the slice now (?) earns it some points. I still think for the same money though I'd rather get a (deep) pie at Patxi's not too far away. Good to have options though.

I really enjoyed my order both times I've ordered from here. The garlic bread with goat cheese is especially awesome.

I just wanted to point something out quickly that people are complaining about. After reading many of the reviews, there are quite a few people complaining that their pizza was not cut when they either picked it up or had it delivered. If you go to the Denver Deep Dish website, it plainly states....in BIG BOLD LETTERS...that they do NOT cut the pizza to keep the integrity of the crust!!! It would make it soggy if they cut it before hand. I'm sure that if you request them to cut it for you...they would happily do so :)

Tucked in the back of the Bar Car you'll find Denver Deep Dish serving up some seriously tasty pies! Whether you're craving their namesake or thin crust, you won't be disappointed. DDD has got both styles spot on! One of my favorite pies here is the 505: New Mexican green chiles with chicken. Just thinking about it now is making me drool a bit. Don't forget to try one of the sides! I really dig the garlic knots. The more carbs, the better! At least in my world... Awesome pizzas, fantastic service, and a great location inside one of my favorite bars. What could possible be better?

I ordered garlic rolls and a meatball grinder for delivery via the Eat24 app. At BEST, mediocre. First of all, the garlic rolls. Or, garlic bites, or whatever the heck it is this place calls them. Because, these are /special/ made from scratch garlic bites, the dough made fresh every day. Sound impressive, right? Well, take all of the things you probably like about garlic rolls....the firm but fluffy texture, the way the garlic and butter finds its way all the way to the center, nice chunks of garlic in the mix. Now, imagine none of that. Imagine garlic pucks. This is what they should be called on the menu. Garlic pucks. These are balls of extremely dense, dry dough lacking any sort of fluffiness or cholesterol-heightening garlic butter. These were hard to eat, and half of them are still just sitting in my fridge, because I gave up. They come with a side of marinara (bland), but every time I tried to dip the pucks, they would soak up none of the sauce. And, then there was the grinder. There was nothing /horrible/ about the sandwich. It wasn't great, though, and at $11, I expected a lot more. The meatballs were....well, they tasted like meatballs I would make if I tried, and I'm not the greatest chef. They were edible, but not good. The bread was soaked through and falling apart. The cheese was plentiful, but rather tasteless. I was insulted to have paid $11 for that sandwich. And, it was served with a handful of potato chips. $11 and I get cheap, stale potato chips? Not even some fries? Disappointing and expensive.

If you like favlorless, charred, fatty, undercooked wings, this is totally the best place in Denver. Also, someone in our party who ordered pizza got an uncut pie. So enjoy doing their work for them!

Do NOT order from here using the Eat 24 app. Called tonight after order was 45 min late and was told they got busy a little while ago. Funny, I ordered at 4:00 and requested a 6:00 delivery. So 2 hrs and 45 minutes is too little time to cook a pizza....... Sure are a lot of pizza joints in Denver for this one to survive with this kind of service. Followed the yelp suggestions. My bad i guess.

I really prefer thin crust, and if you do too then don't hesitate to try this place. The crust is more like a cracker crust, with minimal cheese. Great pizza. I would recommend the sausage forest lovers. The spinach, mushroom and peppers for veggies. Great deal about this place is that it's inside The Bar Car lounge, what better way to enjoy a great pizza than with a beer and a fun neighbor crowd. Then afterward you can cross the street to do your Trader Joes shopping.

Some of these reviews reference Chicago deep dish....not sure why....Denver Deep Dish is yummy but it's not Chicago Style Deep Dish nor do they claim to be. That's good because I'm a native Chicagoan. Great thin and deep dish. Garlic knots are great. I always get the Spinach salad with house dressing. Dressing has always been fresh and isn't bottled stuff. This is my go-to pizza spot.

Just plain irritated. I had to call to remind them about my order after waiting for an hour and a half. Pizza arrived promptly after I called...yay...pizza not right...boo. He offered me 25% off my next order...I said how about replacing the pizza with the one I ordered and paid $36 dollars for....he said yes.... and then got bent out of shape when I clarified that I wanted the pizza replaced now. He just short of yelled at me about how busy they were being Super Bowl Sunday and all...and he didn't think I wanted to wait another two hours. No sir, I don't. I just hung up. It's Super Bowl Sunday..it happens once every year. Your in the pizza delivery business. Your going to get your ass handed to you...all night long...this should not be a surprise to you...what do you do? You staff appropriately. Problem solved. Pizza was just all right and was pricey. I would pay anything for real Chicago style pizza. This was close, but not quite it. I'm back on the hunt.

I'm not usually one to go for deep dish pizza but wowza this stuff is fantastic! Met a friend here to watch a Bronco game and we shared a medium pie with bacon, sausage and a secret menu item you HAVE to try: giardiniera. Word to the wise: It's deep dish pizza, not Little Caesar's. Be patient and you won't be disappointed!

As you likely already know, deep dish pizza is dangerously lacking in Denver. Denver Deep Dish does it to perfection. I would highly recommend pepperoni and goat cheese as the most perfect 4,000 calorie meal you may have ever experienced in a crowded, kind-of-smelly bar. Yeah, that's one of the issues. Denver Deep Dish is located in the back of The Bar Car, which kind of sucks, but that's a different review for a different day. Either way, I highly suggest take-out, which brings me to the other issue: plan ahead because you do not want to be bowled over by drunken slobs while you are waiting in a cramped corner for them to finish your pizza. It typically takes anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes. I would knock off a star for the failure to cut my pizza last time, but I have an arm and a pizza cutter so I wasn't even mad. Pro-tip: if you order from the Eat24 app, you will get somewhere around $5 off your next order. Considering a medium, two-topping pie runs about $20, it brings it right around an appropriate price range.

This is a yummy pizza place hidden in the back of the Bar Car. It's not immediately obvious driving by, but the bar and restaurant share space, which works out wonderfully, because Bar Car is excellent at cheap beer and Bar Car is excellent at pizza. Their personal pizzas are more than one serving, and they have plenty of topping options. I had the sausage, onion, and pepper last time, and it was a great combination-- I'm not sure if the sausage was made there or not, but the quality was great. The chunky tomato sauce has just the right about of sweetness, and the crust held up to the pile of sauce, cheese and toppings quite well. My friend (the purist) had a thin crust cheese pizza and said that there's better thing crust pizza out there, but that it was still good (and she had tons left over). I am the daughter of a Brooklyn-ite, and as such am not very experienced in Chicago style pizza, but I have to say this was delicious! Patxi's may have been a little bit better quality, but the vibe/style at DDD is totally different, and it's also half the price, which is definitely a major plus. I will definitely be back for happy hour, and only wish they were open for lunch!

I have been known to eat my fair share of pizza. Why? because pizza, much like the sandwich, is incredibly versatile. Pizza can be made delicious in a myriad of ways and in my opinion, Denver Deep Dish does a damn fine job at their take on pizza. The crust is thick and pastry-like in texture. The mozzarella is generous but not too thick. The sausage they use on their pizza is excellent and, consequently, I find myself ordering a simple sausage, peppers, and onions pizza more often than anything else. Although they deliver, their quoted timing can be hit or miss. They are generally right on time with pick up orders. Show up 10 min early, grab a beer at the Bar Car, and listen to some Johnny Cash while you wait for your pizza. In a nutshell: Food: very good Price: 20-30 bucks for a pizza that will fill up 3-4 normal people. (I've killed a whole pizza there before, my arteries have not yet forgiven me...) Overall bang for your buck: pretty good.

We love all kinds of pizza. Napolitano is our favorite style, but when we're craving deep dish, we've found three great choices in Denver... Denver Deep Dish, Patxi's, and Jimano's (S Broadway in Englewood). You can't go wrong with any of those. Delicious and satisfying. Denver Deep Dish is inside The Bar Car, which has a good selection of draft beers, and cheap draft prices during much of the day. The vibe in the bar is cool-divey. There are board games to play, and did I mention cheap beers?! The strategy that I use is: I order to take away. I arrive 5-10 minutes early to drink a draft before my pizzas are ready. The fam is none the wiser :-) . Patxi's also has a solid draft selection. Jimano's removed their taps for some reason.

I don't like deep dish pizza. I'm a NY style pizza lover. I feel that deep dish is just a lot of dough and it weighs me down. Not at Denver Deep Dish. This place was kinda hard to find at first since it's not a standalone store. It's inside The Bar Car and what better place to have a pizza joint than inside a bar? Beer and pizza? I'm down! The first time I went I wasn't sure about the pizza so I gave a personal pan 7" a try. I ordered the bacon with pineapple. I was expecting a greasy, doughy pizza but I ended up getting a light, clean sauce with almost fluffy crust that tasted really light. I was thoroughly surprised! Could I be a Chicago style fan?! I think so! I really enjoyed their red sauce on the pizza since I'm a huge tomato fan and they have little chunks of tomatoes all over it, it's almost an additional topping! The crust is crispy on the edges and nice and almost chewy under the toppings. They are very generous with their toppings as I found out the 2nd time I visited this location since the first time it was just a 7"... We ordered sausage, green peppers and mushrooms this time. The sausage is not your typical rabbit turd size that you get from chain pizza stores like Mark P. had mentioned. It's nice bite size with great flavors. The green peppers and mushrooms are both hearty as well. I thought the bf and I were gonna order a Medium and have some to take home... yeah, that didn't happen. We killed the pizza in one sitting it was THAT good. I also tried the Mile High Meatballs too and it was definitely something I've never had before.. it's like a miniature balls of meat sandwich all combined together. It's got sausage, cheese, spices and flour all rolled up in a ball served with some kind of lime chipotle dip. Delicious! If you're expecting a meatball you might be disappointed, but if you're expecting to try something new and actually love it, you're in for a treat! DDD also serves single slices if you are in the mood for just a couple slices or if you want try all different toppings on different slices. One of the owners favorite is their pepperoni, pineapple and jalapenos... that's why it's also on the menu. This is definitely not your $5 no wait pizza you get from yucky Little C's that only tastes decent as soon as you bought it. (And like rubber the next day you try to eat it.) You might pay a little bit more for the gourmet pizza but you're also getting quality ingredients as well as tasting-amazing-the-next-day-cold pizza. Oh yeah, they also have thin crust that's really delicious as well! Go get yourself a pie from here, this is coming from someone who doesn't like deep dish.

Soooo good! Best pizza in Denver by far. Ingredients are so fresh and of high quality. Deep dish is the way togo!!!

First off, let me say, I WILL BE BACK. While not quiiiiite as deep as I had hoped, this is definitely the best pizza, deep dish or otherwise, that I've had since moving here. The goat cheese, bacon, and onion pie was absurd, and I gluttonized beyond what was necessary, just because I couldn't sit there and stare at a pizza being put in a box when I could be eating more. So, my biggest negative?... I must have walked past the place thrice. It is inside a place called Bar Car. I REPEAT, IT IS INSIDE BAR CAR. First sign I saw mentioning Denver Deep Dish was inside the place. That is all, eat and enjoy.

While I'm no expert (I'll leave that to my Chicago native friends), this is what deep dish pizza is supposed to taste like. Fresh ingredients (fresh herbs as a topping, love!), flavorful sauce, and crust that's soft and chewy with a nice crisp layer at the bottom. As a former NYC'er, "a slice" was the golden standard to which all 'za was held, but this is my go-to pizza these days. Staff is always attentive and friendly, ready with a suggestion or two, whether it's beer or pizza toppings. While the pizza does take some time to cook (patience..), it gives me time to get the Mile High Meatballs! So good!! I moved up to the mountains a few months ago, and have to say, I get cravings for this place and definitely try to stop in when I'm in town!

Let me just say, I live close by and I have been so curious about it since I've moved here. Ordered a pizza one night to share, and a large was just enough to feed 4 of us. I would say it's much better for picking up than dining in. The guy who took my order was super patient with me, as I felt indecisive and so unsure of what to order. Still though, he was super friendly and awesome. We ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza. One side veggie, one side customized. The most memorable part of this pizza? The amazing sauce! Really it was delicious. Sweet, tomato-y, and just the right consistency. The crust was just ok. It's no chicago-style deep dish...so if that's what you're looking for, it might disappoint a little. However, I think I would recommend and would get it again because it was quite tasty.

I've never had worse pizza. I tried it a year ago and it was terrible, too. People on here that are hyping this place probably work there. It truly is the poorest pizza experience I've ever had.

No no no no. Horrible terrible bad!!!!! The garlic balls taste like an indescribable unfamiliar mystery that no bread should taste like. After biting into one, grease drenched out. The deep dish individual pizzas are disgusting. The dough tastes premade, frozen, and reheated. The flavors are nasty. Don't eat here or order delivery!

If you ever wonder to yourself, can I find Chicago style deep dish pizza in Denver? The answer is YES YOU CAN!! Now, so you all know, I've never been to Chicago so I have nothing to compare this too other than the fact that it's delicious. I've been a couple of times now. First for a Yelp event and then for night out. I've had the pleasure of trying Deep Dish with sausage, just plain with seasonings, and recently a slice of the BBQ Chicken. The sausage here is delectable, seasoned heavenly. The BBQ Chicken was also delicious with some good heat to it. The deep dish has a cornmeal crust that's unique. I've also had the pleasure of enjoying the thin crust pizza with goat cheese and bacon and let me tell you that it's like a OMG fall on the floor I'm so happy kind of pizza. The garlic knots are also on point and garlicky delicious! The owners are great guys - Jason is always a pleasure and once you get him talking about pizza there's no going back and you wouldn't want to anyway - he's a great guy! Can't wait until they venture out and open up an actual store front.

We rolled in here on a Saturday night around 6, the joint was quiet other than the CD Jukebox blasting pre-mp3 era music, the traffic definitely picked up by the time we left at around 7:30. The place is pretty small and is inside of the Box Car Bar, apparently there's one guy in the back making pizzas. Sadly, he's the only one making any food so we ordered a Supreme large at $26, which is by no means chump change for pizza. The service was memorable, the bartender is of course super nice and patient, the guy making the pizza who was also running the tables is also very cool and friendly. We waited around 30-40 min for our pizza to come out, didn't keep track of time but it felt longer than normal to get food. The pizza was acceptable but I've always thought Chicago style pizzas are forks and knives affair, I was able to easily hold it. The sauce was ok, sauce is always a debatable topic for most people, I prefer the tangy, sweet and herbally infused sauce, this was a rather plain marinara sauce. I need to add that the toppings were very good, I really enjoyed the sausage used, it certainly didn't taste like a run of the mill toppings and was very fresh. The pizza filled up 3 people easily w/leftovers but by no means is it huge and overwhelming looking. The crust was too crunchy and solid, chicago pizzas always have a doughy crust, yeah? Anyways, the guy is nice enough and the drinks were relatively cheap, $4 micros, but $8 for more premium cocktails. I'm not sure I'd stopped in here for food again, it takes too long and also isn't that much better than your local pizza shop, maybe if you got tired from being at trader joe's across from it and need a pizza fix then by all means, also they do sell in slices. I'd stop here again if I'm meeting up w/a friend for a drink though, I'm kind of a fan of that divey cozy feel, and this place certainly has that vibe.

Ordered for delivery yesterday for the first time. Ordered a large bacon, goat cheese and onion pizza. I was not disappointed. Classic Chicago style deep dish. Corn bread consistency crust, and sauce on top of the cheese. The bacon was thick-cut as well. While the delivery was free, it took and hour to arrive (to be expected with deep dish) and the total was over $27, not including gratuity. Conclusion, this pizza is comparable to the pie at Wynman's No.5 (on 13th). Similar style and prices. Both quality Chicago style pizza in my opinion. Though I'm not from Chicago.

I've never had deep dish pizza before, but I've always wanted to try it. I used to look around yelp all the time searching for a deep dish pizza place in Denver with reviews that were better than mediocre to no avail. But, to appease my dad, I told him I would check one last time, but that I guaranteed we wouldn't find anything. Boy, was I wrong. The first result was for Denver Deep Dish. I saw the reviews and was convinced that we should try it. Apparently, sometime between my last search and last night, Denver Deep Dish popped onto the Denver radar. We got the pizza and wow! It was so delicious! It was definitely homemade pizza with real and fresh ingredients. I was so impressed. I haven't had good pizza in a loooong time and this was just fantastic.

I have been here numerous times and will keep coming back. The pizza is great (deep dish and thin crust) as are the appetizers. I usually order a custom deep dish pizza, pepperoni with pepperoncinis, and it's always enough for two with a bonus slice or two for breakfast the next day. The staff for the Bar Car and DDD are always super friendly. Worth a try for any pizza lover.

Located in the deepest, darkest recesses of the Bar Car one will find the pie oracle that I like to call the magical pizza window. One merely makes a wish . . . Example: "Dearest magical pizza window, I have eaten pizza from one side of Denver to the other, across the metro area, and all over the state of Colorado, and I have still not been able to have good Chicago-style pizza, so please grant me this wish to enjoy a mystical disc of pie with a crust inches tall at the edge, slightly higher than the ingredients, which includes large amounts of cheese and chunky tomato sauce, acting as a large bowl, instead of flaccid imitation NY-style pizza or sub-par mass-produced commercial pizza" (I know, this is a very long wish, but if one does not word it correctly then dire consequences may occur). The pizza genie (recognizable by his distinctive facial hair of conjoined sideburns and mustache) ponders your wish for a good 30 minutes or so and then grants it by bringing a substance rarer than gold (at least in the Denver area) to your tabletop. You then appease the genie by oohing and ahhing at the sight of this pizza unicorn, groaning with pleasure while it is consumed, and then emptying your wallet or purse on the table so as not to anger the fickle pizza djinn. If all goes well, you leave with a happy and full stomach, hoping that the heartburn imps do not track you down to extract their terrible tummy toll. In summation, this is the best Chicago-style pizza I have enjoyed in the Denver area. It is a little lighter, and less greasy that I remember from pies I enjoyed in the Chicago area. But, as a fellow Yelper pointed out, this just means you can eat more of it. I liked the Mile High Meatballs, but thought the carb to meat ratio a bit high. The flavor was solid, the dipping sauce divine. The thin crust pizza with bacon and goat cheese was an epicurean delight. The sausage on the deep dish pies was uber-flavorful and locally sourced. The signature pie of pepperoni, pineapple and jalapenos may sound like an abomination to some pizza purists, but it was so, so delicious. Parking is minimal in the narrow lot, so be prepared to search for some in nearby places. The space here (in the Bar Car) is limited, so get here early to stake out a spot for your group.

I've been meaning to check out triple D for a while now as a long lost Chicagoan looking for a deep dish za. Lo and behold, Yelp had us a little shindig there with all da fixins. Both the deep dish pizza and the thin crust pizza were very good. I'm not a big fan of the "fancy ingredients" on a deep dish pizza, however the Polish Sausage za was quite delicious. I miss me some good ole spicy Polish Sausage. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is the real deal Chicago Style deep dish, but I will say this is a good deep dish that comes as close as you'll get to the real deal in Chicago. (it's all about the water used for the crust, er something...) I can't really comment on price or service since this was a Yelp event and we got hella good service, but we were actually in the Bar Car area and not the Denver Deep Dish area.

Let me first say the pizza is amazing. It definitely tastes great. I just have a couple issues and maybe the first one is my fault. Being from Chicagoland, I expected Chicago stuffed pizza. This is Chicago style without being stuffed. I guess I was a little disappointed because again, it's impossible to find the authentic thing in Denver. My second issue is the pizza wasn't even cut. Since I live outside of their delivery area, I had to drive about 30 minutes to get there. I get home and certainly expected the pizza to be cut. Who doesn't cut their pizza? Giordanos does. So again the pizza is great, but will I drive that far again for it? no. But if Im in the area, I will try and come by.

It's a bar and the pizza takes a long time...but is is really good pizza! Also, they have board games.

I'm not a fan of thick crust pizza so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying their pizza. It's a little bit more expensive than other pizza joints but it was worth it. Thick, cornmeal based crust which stayed crunchy the entire life of my dining experience. I always have sausage and mushroom pizzas if I don't get a special pizza. Let's just say I always order sausage and mushroom pizzas here. The service is great and it's in the Bar Car, where some of my favorite people hang out.

So we are from the bay area and came to Denver to visit some friends. Being the out of towners that we are we relied on yelp to tell us the best places around. I am so happy we decided to go here because the pizza was amazing!!! We had such a great experience eating here! Everybody was really nice and friendly and the food definitely hit the spot. They also do trivia games that are really fun! We were there on a Monday night and ended up hanging out for over 4 hours. I would definitely come back here if I'm ever in Denver again :)

Uh mazin. Love the thin crust marg pizza with the most simplicity and amazing taste. Avoid the meatballs because I don't recognize that form of matter. Cool staff who put pizzas into their cars and drive them to you. Neat.

Very overrated and extremely over priced. My gf and I ordered a large Supreme pizza and with the delivery charge....$31!!!! I have never paid more than $20 for a pizza in my life so I couldn't believe it when we tried it and it was mediocre. It was delivered hot and the ingredients were very fresh but, even still we didn't think the flavor was all that great and the crust is weird...reminded us us eating a pastry. Not what we were expecting at all. I've been to Chicago and had real deep dish pizza and this just isn't the same. They layer it like Chicago deep dish and use the same concept but, this is not nearly as thick or as delicious. definitely not worth $31 for a large Supreme pizza with delivery and tip. We wont be back, there are a lot better pizza places in the neighborhood that charge half the price.

Best Chicago style pizza in Denver - trust me, I've tried all the other places. I was driving down Colorado one day and noticed the 'Denver Deep Dish' sign outside of The Bar Car. I was online as soon as I got home, investigating this so called 'deep dish pizza place'. If you're from Chicago, and live in Denver then you know what I'm talking about - there are several restaurants who claim they have Chicago style pizza, BUT THEY'RE LYING! Denver Deep Dish is tucked all the way in the back of the bar, which is always busy, and a nice place to hang out and grab a couple beers. They even have board games, tv screens, and quite the crowd of regulars. Pizzas usually take around 40 minutes to bake, so we really appreciate that you can call your order in ahead of time. Like most Chicago pizzas, DDD has an amazing cornmeal based crust. It's crunchy, not doughy, and nice and dense. There is a good amount of cheese on the crust, (although last time it was a little less than I expected), and then your toppings of choice. We usually order pepperoni, which is the nicer and slightly spicy. In my opinion, it's worth every cent when restaurants have the real stuff! And most importantly, they have a good tomato sauce. It's chunky, not too seasoned, and comes ON TOP, like it's supposed to be :) The DDD staff is extremely nice as well, letting us know they deliver, wanting to hear feedback, and thanking us for 'giving them a shot'. So if you're in the mood for some Chicago style pizza, give it a try. I'm so happy one of my favorite things about the Windy City can now be found in the Mile High City.

No no no no. Maybe my expectations were too high? Someone said it was like Chicago pizza. Not even close. I guess I will change it to 3 stars. Its not the pizza places fault someone on Yelp mislead me.

Um, no. First, the positive; the kid working was a nice kid and seemed to be working hard/ cared about doing well. Next, the food is not good and smelled really bad. The location is actually a window at the back of a bar. When standing at the window you get a great view of how gross and dirty the kitchen area is, yuck! If this is what Denver has to offer, I would rather wait for pizza until I go back to visit Chicago. Since writing this review I have had communication with the owner or manager of Denver Deep Dish. How neighborly! He assured me that the restaurant has great marks with the health department. I'm not surprised. My standards for how clean I like to see restaurants is often not in alignment with the health dept. To be fair, none of the surfaces I saw would be in contact with food. The smell, I absolutely concede was most likely my personal preference. Many may have thought it smelled good. Finally, the owner said if I had contacted them directly that night, something would likely have been done to remedy or improve my experience. I prefer to not try DDD again, however, I found his response to me to be in good integrity and a good-old-fashioned-way to do business. This is why I am adding a third star. Being good-people and being local is the way to go! So, if you like Denver Deep Dish, don't let my review keep you away!

I heard about this place from a friend who knew I was a big pizza fan. I was blown away to hear that there was a Chicago Style pizza place in the Bar Car on Colorado. I was particularly surprised that I didn't know this, as I tend to be in tune with the pulse of the local pizza scene. I am to pizza parlours what Tony Manero was to disco floors. Instead of a white leisure suit, I wear a red one, so no one notices the marinara stains. Anyway, I digress...back to the pizza review. My wife and I really like Chicago style pizza every once in a while, especially because no one here in Denver seems to make it. If they do, they go out of business before I'm able to gain my requisite 3 pounds (This is my usual weight gain once I've discovered a new pizza place that I enjoy). As soon as I heard this existed, I broke out my pizza suit and hit the town. I busted into the front door just as DJ Aaron was playing my favorite Weird Al Yankovic tune, "Eat It". A few of the bar regulars gasped in amazement that I had managed to button my 4-sizes-too small suit. We were led to our seat, and, in a stunning display of telepathy, the waitress asked if I would like to try their pizza. We ordered the sausage, onion, and sweet peppers after I made sure the sausage was bulk, not the pre-formed bunny-turd variety that ruins so many pies. We ordered the garlic knot things, I don't remember what they were called, because we were very hungry. I didn't care for them. I found them to be rather dough-y, and something I never thought I would say... too garlicky. Basically, they just filled my gullet a bit, so that I would maybe have some leftover pizza once dinner was through. That's not such a bad thing. The pizza was as good as I could have expected, and I was overjoyed. As I was wiping away my tears, the chef came over to our table and asked us how we liked the pie. After taking a swig of my Old Chub, I looked him in the eye and said, "I'll Yelp the Sh** out of you!" We then had a short, yet floury embrace before DJ Aaron put on a techno version of The Doors, "The End". My wife and I walked out the door just as Morrison was singing about the end of our elaborate plans...The End.

I was in Chicago last July and made it a priority to try Lou Malnati's...the standard bearer for true Chicago Style deep dish IMO. Ever since then I've been searching for a place in Denver that served ACTUAL Chicago style pizza. I heard about DDD from some friends so last night my girlfriend and I went to check it out. I walked away completely impressed! They absolutely nail the crust! It's flaky and buttery! The sausage and sauce are good, I just wish there was more of it. Malnati's LOADS their pizza with sausage and sauce so next time I think I'll order double of both. Anyway, every other place in Denver that claims to serve Chicago Style is simply pretending! If you want the real deal...look no further than DDD. Side note: The garlic bites are delicious. Also, the Bar Car is GREAT! They make an awesome Moscow Mule!

Denver Deep Dish is not like any pizza I've ever had. While it is in the style of Chicago pizza, its a totally unique and wonderful experience. Instead of drowning under a mountain of greasy, goopy cheese, the pizza was nicely balanced with just the right amount. And between the buttery crust, the super-flavorful tomato sauce, and the fresh toppings, I would eat here all the time if I didn't have student loans to pay. OH YEAH, and they even serve pizza BY THE SLICE. Where else can you get chicago-style pizza by the slice!?!? I practically inhaled my pizza from DDD... And talking about it just makes me wonder why I'm not there right now!

Amazing Chicago Pizza!!! Very well done and very true to chicago style pan pizza. As good as it gets and maybe a little better than the original since it is just the right thickness. Great friendly owner and a cool setting for the place. Very flavorful and just the right spice to make it memorable and just right for a chicago style. Can't wait to get another.

  • Steph G.

I don't know what it is about the crust here, but it's the best deep dish crust I've had around Denver. Crust is not easy to get right in the high altitude. We got a pepperoni and peperocini...can't go wrong with that.

Missed this place the first time I went looking (it's in the Bar Car! what more could you ask for?) , and I'm SO glad I came around a second time! Amazing pizza for a great price. Such an awesome difference from Denver's run-of-the-mill pizza places: finally, a place that puts a little effort into turning out a great dish. You can tell they put pride and energy into the food, and it tastes that much better for it. Can't wait to go back! (once the leftovers are finished!)

Finding this place was a little rough, because while the address was clearly marked AND other yelpers have had the same issue, I ignored all of that and trudged forward on my own. It is actually IN THE BAR CAR!!! Back to the scheduled review: I am not often in the mood for Chicago style deep dish. Like so many others, I am a fan of New York style pizza. I like the excess cheese grease, the folding it so I can actually take a bite. I like flaccid pizza OK??! Is there something wrong with being a fan of flaccid!!!?!?? That being said, I sometimes like to try something different. Enter Denver Deep Dish. A small, rustic bar called the bar car houses this pizza delight. It's dark, the drinks are cheap, and they have a super old MegaTouch at the bar for you to waste money on games that are free on your smart phone. The pizza takes a while, as it has to cook all the way through. It is totally worth it, though. Fantastic, full of ooey gooey cheese and toppings with a hearty marinara slathered atop. The sausage was pretty dang flavorful and unlike most pizza joints, you could tell it was not the pre-cooked sausage pebbles from a bag. After one slice you are full; two and you are ready for a food coma; three and you need help man... seriously go see a doctor.

3 mile delivery radius!!!!??? What a joke. I was about to drop $60 on 2 pies; however, me being 3.8 miles away, they wouldn't deliver. What a terrible delivery service.

A great local bar and great local pizza!! My wife and I eat here every couple weeks. We love the thin crust pizza. The deep dish is great as well but we prefer thin crust everywhere not just here. Friendly staff. It takes a while to get your pizza but great things come to those who wait. We will continue to frequent the Bar Car and eat Denver Deep Dish.

This place doesn't even deserve one star. I'm from Chicago and this tasted nothing like a deep dish. If you are from Chicago and missing the pizza don't waist your time and money. By far the worst pizza in Denver. The crust was thick and homemade tasting, nothing like I've tasted anywhere else, terrible and unChicagoRecognizable. The sauce was almost nonexistent and the cheese, my favorite part about a deep dish, was no where to be found! My fellow Chicagoans, be warned-dont do it! Save your money and order online from a fav Chicago joint! p.s. gave my whole family terrible gas....just saying....

The. Holy. Grail. Of. Pizza. In. Denver. If you love deep dish, that is, or I guess if you have taste buds. These guys are puttin' out some serious pies in the back of a really sweet dive bar. Two'fer! But, seriously, this is good pizza, get out and support them so they don't close like every other deep dish place, worth a !@#$ in the six years I've lived here. Just remember that it takes near on an hour to bake one of these delicious little suckers!

There is this pointless war going on. Which is better New York of Chicago style pizza. The answer to me is simple - these circular food items are not worth comparing. Both are great, different and great in there own way. Now, there is a little bar with great pizzas popping out of the back. The place is called Denver Deep Dish pizza. Good name, good pizza. The idea is to create a home for Chicago style deep dish pizza in Denver. This is a a noble idea and hopefully a financially successful one for the owners. The pizza is good. It is made in the tradition of Chicago-style pizza, the dough contains cornmeal so it has the same bite. The sauce is tomatoes garlic and fresh herbs, simple uncooked and fresh. The topping are also fresh and doled out in the right proportions. In Chicago, there are many well known and delicious deep dish pizzas restaurants. Each has their own style and taste. I wouldn't say Denver Deep Dish is just like anyone of them, but that's okay. It's good and that is what counts.

Excellent, delicious, and worthwhile. Fun bar atmosphere. This place is great to watch the game or just chill with friends. The staff was excellent. They chatted with us, and have us great suggestions of things to do while in Denver. Thumbs up!!!

We had the deep dish with sausage, spinach, and pepperoncini as a take-out order. The pizza was a fantastic version of the Lou Malnati's cornmeal version of the deep dish. We will be ordering from here whenever we get hungry for deep dish. The bar section was clean, but almost empty--understandably at 6pm on a Tuesday-- with requisite big screen tvs. Staff was friendly, but because there is a narrow hallway from the kitchen to the register, maybe they should have a bell for the counter for when they get bus--not that I had a problem getting served. Hopefully they get a steady stream of business so that we don't lose this piece of Chicago.

I will say I come to Denver deep dish expecting awesome service. The deep dish I ordered was good. What I suggest to the owners; is for first timers that clearly never been there to order. Explain how your menu works. Simple introduction is all it takes to provide Better service to your business..

This place deserves no stars whatsoever. Ordered 2 of the item on the menu, received only one when it came an HOUR AND 20 MINUTES LATER (I live one mile away and the order was not for deep dish or anything that takes a long time). Then had to call and ASK that the amount for the one I DID NOT get be refunded!! They have nonexistent customer service. I will never eat there again and will be telling everyone I know to do the same. You win customers with service and a good product, not with attitude and coupons "for your next visit". What next visit? Dream on.

Best deep dish pizza in Denver. The owners of the bar car and Denver deep dish went out of their way to serve great brews and pizza. Very personable staff. Delicious pizza. Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic deep dish.

I'm going to say it just to get it out of the way. This deep dish was better than any deep dish pizza I have had in Chicago. Fresh ingredients, great sauce and perfectly cooked crust. The crust I was extra surprised about because the large amount of toppings on the pizza. These folks are in their soft opening phase and are already nailing it.

This is maybe the best pizza I have had, ok it is the best pizza that I have ever had! It is amazing! The crust has a has a nice crunch for deep dish pizza. Very generous on the toppings and forget about the sauce it's one of a kind! The ingredients are super fresh. Who can beat the ambiance of a dive bar? Fricken' Awesome!!!

I want to give DDD another star but I can't. The crust is good. The sausage is good. The tomatoes were a little bitter (for a couple bucks more a case this problem could be cured). The Parm cheese was way too salty (again, for a few bucks more a pound, this problem could be cured). Buy more quality ingredients and DDD will have a winner.

  • Taylor L.

It was ok. I ordered a thin-crust cheese pizza, which was enjoyed by my children. I also ordered a spinach and sausage 'speciality' pizza. I don't think I saw any spinach. Mostly, it was canned tomatoes on top of a few sausages and some shredded green stuff. I'm actually pretty pissed about my meal. I hate tomatoes and wouldn't have ordered from here if i knew what to expect. The crust was also very mealy. Not good.

This is great pizza. I usually order Anthony's but they had an hour and a half wait the other night so I looked up other pizza joints in my neighborhood and found Denver Deep Dish. The reviews were great so I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did. My husband says it's one of the best pizza's he's ever had. It is up there for me as well. We will definitely be back for more.

I have to give these guys credit, they contacted us within an hour of posting this review on Saturday night to offer us an apology and a discount on our next order. I want to reiterate that their pizza is delicious, yes, it is expensive and takes a long time to cook but it is worth it. Their quick response moves them up to 3.5 stars in my book, I'm feeling generous so I'll round it up and give them 4 here.

We have been searching high and low for the holy grail - authentic Chicago style deep dish pizza in Denver. Eureka!!! We've found it!!! This place is legit!!! We got a build-your-own pie with sausage, mushroom, pepperoni and fresh herbs. It was seriously the best pizza we've had in Denver (and we've lived here almost 10 years)!! The sausage was spicy but just in the right amount, the sauce was incredible with chunky bits of tomato and the crust was a cornmeal crust and was dee-lish. If you are jonesing for a Chicago style pizza, you have got to get it from Denver Deep Dish!! We even used GrubHub to place our order online and pick-up was a breeze!

  • Todd E.

Decent food but incompetent management. I am okay waiting for 45 minutes to have a deep dish pizza to go. I am not okay with an establishment that doesn't make anything else in the order because they ran out of chicken. I arrived to pick up the food and nothing was even started. Hungry family at home. Will not be returning or recommending to others.

  • Nyssa H.

Was expecting great things. it sucked. The tomato sauce was weak and watery, and there wasn't much cheese. There wasn't a lot of flavor, just fell flat overall.

    (2)
  • Mark H.

Wasn't crazy about their deep dish pizza, but I can see why people might like it. Crust was good, ingredients were fresh, and the price was fair. Seemed more like a Chicago pan pizza than a deep dish. My pizza had gobs of tomatoes but very little cheese. Just wasn't balanced. And the top was watery, from the tomatoes cooking off I presume. The person who took my order was friendly. I was out of the delivery area, but they delivered my pizza for a small delivery charge.

This pizza rocks! This is one of the best chicago deep dish pizza's I've had outside of Chicago. Sauce has great flavor, crust good and toppings seem to be very good quality. On both occasions the owner has came outside to see how we were enjoying our pizza which was nice too.

    (5)
  • J Z.

Wow! This deep dish is too good - could not stop eating it!! The sausage and pepperoni were high quality, and the sauce was perfection with a little spicy kick to it. Seriously, just as good or better than any deep dish I've had in Chicago. Can't wait to go back!

  • Nate D.

So having lived in Chicago in the past, I can confirm other reviews that this is definitely a good example of Chicago style deep-dish pizza. The low score (for me anyway) is because the pizza comes loaded with stewed/canned tomatoes. Some deep dish recipes are tomato "chunk" based (like this one) and some are tomato sauce/paste based. I'm not a huge fan of large tomato chunks that don't cook well on a pizza that stay very firm. Basically like eating canned tomatoes right from the can. These may have even been fresh stewed tomatoes and not canned, but I doubt it. I'm a sauce/paste/non-chunk guy. So... I'll just split the score right down the middle... not a one-star pizza, but not a five-star pizza either. But... I also think the pizza's score should be lower due to the lack of other toppings. So two stars, it gets. We ordered their "meat lovers" style, and I think the tomato chunks to "everything else" ratio was about 10:1 with very light cheese and almost no happy little meaty bits. Out of three slices that I ate, only one had a single discernible chunk I could say for certain was a piece of sausage. On the good news side, this pizza has a distinctively different crust which with the right topping ratios and a whole lot less tomatoes would have knocked my socks off. No one else in town has this crust. I think there's going to be a certain crowd that absolutely loves this pizza, and another which will say "meh"... if you find yourself in the happy crowd, you won't find this pizza anywhere else in Denver, and you'll be visiting often. Unfortunately, we were not that impressed. As far as the staff goes, the folks running the pizza kitchen and the little dive bar, were quite nice and service was great. We'll probably go back sometime just to hang out at the little bar. We won't be ordering the pizza. If they add a "hold the giant pile of nearly raw tomatoes" option which utilizes a sauce instead, we'd probably go ga-ga over this pizza. You may like it... give it a try. It'll either be yes or no, there won't be many in-between on this pie.

I read the good reviews about this pizza, and couldn't wait to try it. I ordered a large pizza for take out. When I got it home and opened the box, I discovered they hadn't sliced the pizza. The sauce was thin and runny, and it tasted more like salt than tomatoes. It also had a funny aftertaste, almost a little sour. The cheese on top was gloppy. The pepperoni was not cooked at all . . . it was like they just took a bunch of slices of pepperoni, threw it on a pizza, and stuck it under a heating lamp for a couple of minutes. My wife and daughter threw their slices away after taking only one bite. I tried three or four bites, hoping it would get better. Then I threw mine away, too, along with the rest of pie. This was the worst pizza I think I ever put in my mouth. Based on the other reviews, this had to be a fluke. But still . . . .

I am a big deep dish fan. So much so that it is a disappointment to me that the City of Chicago gets credit for this hearty dish. I am a Republican. I hate Chicago. But I loved Denver Deep Dish. They even delivered it to me tonight in the maternity ward at Rose Hospital down the street. My wife and I chowed down together. The sauce was fresh and not too heavy. Clearly did not come out of a can. The cheese was luscious, aromatic, and not too oily. The crust, unlike so many others, was flaky and good enough to eat by itself. I'll be going back.

Terrific pizza- deep dish and thin crust! Finally, deep dish pizza that is not like a lead bomb. Very fresh ingredients and generous in amount. I love the sausage myself; had it with mushrooms and onions: Loved It! The crust is special. You won't find it any place else. Try It, You'll Like It!

These 5 stars are for the thin, yes, I said "Thin" pizza. It is so incredibly amazing. The flavors just pop off the light, thin crust. Reminds me of a perfect cheese served on an almost paper-thin cracker. All the flavor is from the toppings. What about the Deep Dish? Well, I don't like it. It might be Chicago style, but yuck...doesn't work for me. But I am definitely outnumbered. I was probably only 1 out of 10 that thought this way. That means more thin for me. I've been here twice and will go back soon, I hope!

By far the best pizza Ive had in Denver. Im originally from the east coast so very used to NY style pizza but after one bite im officially converted. The staff is awesome and attentive. I have had them deliver to me a bunch of times, they arrive right when they say they are going to. If you are looking for a quality hand made pizza Denver deep dish is a must try!!!!!

I consider Denver Deep Dish to be one of the best pizzas I've had in Colorado. I can't attest to it's "Chicago Style" authenticity, but it beats the heck out of Old C's. The sauce is on top of the cheese, and the crust it nice and crisp. It's located in The Bar Car, a great little neighborhood bar.

5-star deep dish pizza. The most incredible thick, smoked bacon chunks ever. The combination of all the exquisite ingredients and friendly service, makes it the best pizza in Denver. Hands down. I haven't tried their thin crust yet because the deep dish is too delish.

I found the worst pizza in Denver. And it's Denver deep dish. How is this place open? Quite dissapointing. Threw half of it away. Save your money and grab a frozen pizza.

First, I will say that I'm from Chicago and I KNOW Chicago deep dish pizza. While this is definitely the "Denver" version, it's still delicious and the closest thing I have found out here to Chicago style pizza. I am reading the negative reviews and I am seeing that people's expectations are a bit unrealistic. Chicago style pizza is much larger than regular pizza and takes longer to bake. So don't expect to have your pizza in 20 minutes, whether you dine in or pick up. Secondly, the sauce is absolutely delicious and I have always found the toppings to be fresh and fantastic. Add to that the fact that Jason, the owner, is friendly and it's in a very cute little hole in the wall bar and I will pick this place over any other pizza option in Denver any time. The only gripe that I have about it is that the parking lot is directional parking off of south CO boulevard and tiny, so the access is a bit difficult. However, this is my favorite restaurant in Denver.

Great pizza. Not your ordinary bulk chain pizza either. The sauce was good, the crust was both moist and crumbly. It was a unique pizza experience for me, but I enjoyed it, and I imagine I will be back.

The crust on the pizza belongs on an apple pie, not a cheese pizza. Just my opinion. If you like Jersey/NY style, you aren't going to like this. Also took over 75 mins for pizza to be delivered.

I tried this when they first opened at a UYE, and I thought it was really good. Last Friday Matthew S and I wandered down for a taste of a little something different than our usual Friday night pizza haunt. The bar wasn't too crowded when we walked in, we were able to snag the last open table in the back immediately. The bartender was friendly, but unfortunately very slow getting to us and following up, when it came time to order our food I finally just went up to the bar and placed it. The food was pretty good. We started with the Mile High Meatballs, these are made with sausage, cheese and flour, chewy, doughy, and very flavorful. We ordered an extra side of the chipotle lime sauce, that's some tasty stuff right there! For pizza, we had a thin crust with sausage, smoked bacon, and jalapenos. This turned out to be a very good combination, the bacon itself didn't overpower anything but the smoke flavor complimented the pizza perfectly, I highly recommend getting this on you next order. It would have been better if they had fresh jalapenos instead of pickled ones. And ARRGGHHH!! Square cut! This has really become a pet peeve of mine. I don't remember it being cut like that the first time I came, maybe it was, but I will have to have them cut it correctly next time I come. I have tried the deep dish here, and it actually surprised me that I liked it as much as I did, but I just can't eat that much bread so I stick with thin crust. The owner is very friendly, they use a lot of local ingredients, and the ambiance of this place is my kind of feel. I was a little disappointed with the service, but not so much that it will keep me away.

I'm rollin with the deep dish meat lovers! That is exactly what I did and I must say this was the BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD! Holy deep dish pizza, I would I could explain with words. The crust tasted like they baked it in an oven that fell straight from heaven. It was crispy, flaky, and buttery. The sauce, this was the kicker! I have never tasted a pizza that the flavor of the sauce took over the entire pizza. It was a perfect compliment to the cheeze (yes, with a Z) and the meat toppings. Did you all make the cheeze? Do you have a cow in the back that you get the milk from? Do you cure and smoke all the meats that you put on the toppings for this pizza? I hung out at the Bar Car and took the pizza to go, I tasted when I was driving home and I literally had to pull over on Colorado Blvd and Mississippi to finish the piece that I started. I couldn't wait the 35 minutes it was going to take me to get back to SE Aurora. Needless to say, when I got home I SMASHED IT!!! I tell you what... Denver Deep Dish is going to be FAMOUS! This place is going to make its mark in Denver, FAST. Please don't be surprised if you see Guy and the Triple D (the "other" Triple D) crew show up to this place. I don't know what the other reviews say, but if they are anything less then outstanding - DISREGARD and try this place out for yourself! Much love DDD! I will be back... with an Army of men... women... and children!

I loved this place. My husband and I split a medium deep dish pepperoni. It was more than enough for the two of us, and the crust, sauce and pepperoni were all great!!! I wish they were open for lunch during the week. Read Dale Z.'s review for an idea of the set-up of the place.

The meatball, onion, mushroom, and herbs pizza was fantastic! The thin crust is uber thin, and I love that: more delicious, fresh toppings and less carbs. This is the best pizza I've had in Denver thus far. Delivery guy was nice.

Damn... I love thin crust. And that was maybe the lightest and most crisp thin crust I've had. Great friendly neighborhood service as well. Thanks to the owner, Jason. We'll see ya again.

Thank you, Denver Deep Dish. While I didn't order a typical Chicago-styled pizza (went with the bacon, goat cheese and onion) I can tell you're headed in the right direction with your crust. I enjoyed this pizza a lot-it was unique and the bacon was different and really hit the spot. As far as I can tell this is the best Chicago style pizza available in Denver. I look forward to consuming more of it.

Was invited to try the pizza here and wholly moley, it is exceptionally good. I am pretty picky about pizza and I am happy to say this was a really great experience. The pizza is a deep dish style and is quite tasty. I'm pretty satisfied that the toppings were plentiful and the sauce was perfect. Super good! As instructed to try the leftovers cold the next morning, and still was impressed. I will go back for more.

Here's a little factoid about me - I'm not really a fan of deep dish pizza. Some people are and some people aren't. For me, I feel like it's soooooo much dough and honestly I'd rather enjoy the cheese. However, I heard rumors that the fellas over at Deep Dish not only made excellent thick crust pizza they also carried thin crust. Is this sacrilegious? I hope not. So, I headed over to The Bar Car (in case you didn't know Denver Deep Dish is inside The Bar Car) to try some of this doughy, cheesy, saucy goodness. Seeing how it IS named for deep-dish pizza I thought I better try this type of pizza in addition to the thin crust. And they made it easy for me because they serve the deep dish pie by the slice or in whole pizzas. (Only the deep dish is served by the slice though.) I ordered up a slice of pepperoni and you Chicago fans will be happy to know it came out as crust, then cheese, THEN sauce, in true Chicago style. And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this pizza. Even though there is a lot of crust it isn't all mushy. The crust has a nice firm texture and a crispness to the outside that I really enjoyed. In fact I might be willing to eat a whole pizza like this should I find myself eating with someone who abhors thin crust. But, but... The thin crust pizza is magnificent, if you like cracker-like thin crust pizza. It crisps up and breaks off and has those little bubbles in it. It only comes in one size, which is easily big enough for 2 people to share or for more than one meal, and you can choose one of their specialty pies or build your own. I recommend building your own and putting smoked bacon and goat cheese on it. It is delicious! You can either order the pizza at the window in the back or from the bartender/server in the bar. You can even order take out pizza from here. And they offer delivery in a certain area, an area I'm happy to report that I live in. I'm sure the next time I find myself at home wanted to order pizza delivery I'll forego all my usual haunts and choose Denver Deep Dish. And while I'll most likely be ordering the thin crust I wouldn't be sad if any of their pizzas showed up at my door. Also worth noting - they recently started serving "Grinders" or sub sandwiches for those of us not familiar with the vernacular and they are good. And please, do yourself a favor and get the Mile High Meatballs as an appetizer. Trust me.

Delicious Pizza is what i tasted at a Yelp Event and I sampled it all. In my Drunken Haste I picked up a slice with mushrooms. And thats one Vile Fungus i despise eating. But they somehow turned that horrible mushroom into a masterpiece on the pizza. The other appealing thing is the Garlic Knots and they are fresh and delicious.

I think this is the best deep dish pizza I've had outside of Chicago. My friend and I got the 12" spinach and sausage and were told it would only be 20 minutes. I knew it would be a little longer, but with the rain outside came take out orders and our pizza took at good 50 minutes. That part was no good, but luckily the pizza was awesome. The crust was thin and not soggy. You could actually pick up a slice. The sauce was so good too. My only comment which I told the chef was it could have used more sausage. Already looking forward to returning again real soon.

Finally made it in for dinner Sunday night and I didn't want to leave! It was difficult to commit to pizza toppings because there are so many fresh choices. I finally decided on bacon, spinach, and goat cheese deep dish and settled in to wait. My group had a round of frosty beers while we waited on our pizzas. They arrived as the second round was being delivered, and the taste was more than I expected: the light and crunchy crust, the crispy bacon, tender spinach, and pungent goat cheese played well with my wheat beer. I got a small pizza and was satisfied after eating half. Jason the Pizza Guy advised how to heat it up so that it would be just as delicious for lunch the next day, and it was! I also got a thin crust sausage pie for my husband, who is a pizza snob. It was the most amazing balance of crunchy crust, spicy sausage, and gooey cheese. He had it mostly finished within 15 minutes and knocked the rest out for lunch the next day. This is a guy who won't usually eat leftovers, so I knew he loved it. Bottom line? Great value for great food, whether you eat in or take it home so you don't have to share.

Great pizza- authentic Chicago deep dish. All the toppings have lots of great flavor. Great happy hour with $3 drafts. There was a mistake with our original order (added sausage and I'm a veggie), but they gave us a some free slices to make up for it. The owner and server were really nice and friendly- more than made up for the initial mistake. Definitely a hidden gem in the back of The Bar Car. Will be back!

DDD is stellar. The bar car is a great little venue too. I tried the deep dish bacon / goat cheese & the spinach and sausage yesterday. I washed them down with Dry Dock IPA. Impressive all the way around, food, drink & service. DDD and Kaos are my go to pizza places.

Ok. So these guys have the best chicago style and as far as im concerned the best pizza in denver. And I know my pizza. Worked at nicolos, fat sullys for 3 years, enzos, lowdown. And it is just my favorite pizza in general, and I have been sick of pizza for awhile untill I discovered my new favorite out of the bar car. Words cant decribe how much I love it. And the Owner is super rad and brought us in the kitchen at lowdown one night just because he is awesome like that a free large deep dish cheese to try and I fell in love with pizza again. Highly reccomend to try this place..ive seen the kitchen and it is a tiny operation, and all of the ingredients are made from scratch so you know its good. These pies take a while to cook so be prepared to wait a little while for your amazingly delicious artisan made product! Their garlic knots and wings and garlic bread are awesome too. Get the buffaque sauce. Oh and you GOTTA get a legit Chi-sytle vienna beef hot dog ! Perfection in meat tube form. So the biggest reason I love and crave this pizza is the all important dough. Its refreshingly different and a corn meal dough. And its amazing down to the last bite of crust! I like to leave on about an inch of the pizza left on the crust so that when you eat it, it tastes like stuffed crust since the cheese is on the bottom. And its sooooo good and comforting. I order from here once or twice a week and still crave it. The sauce is perfect as well, very flavorful and just the right amount of spices and fresh herbs to finish the compliment of the dough and cheese. And you get nice chunks of stewed roma tomato. I reccomend you start with a deep dish cheese to taste the pizza in its purest form as any pizza expert know to do first. Then add on some amazing toppings like local smoked tenderbelly bacon and goat cheese! Mmmm! Or the green chili 505 pie goes perfect with the chedder blend and corn based dough. They are opening a location in the highlands later this year too that will be a full restaurant and bar. If it takes a while to get your pizza delivered on a weekend night, remember its a small operation and they are making your order by hand and that beautiful pie is slow cooking to perfection and believe me it will be worth it :) also you have to ask if you want your pizza cut because they dont cut the deep dish pie . works out nice though if you have your oven preheated to 425 so if you feel you need a quick reheat its convenient that it isnt cut yet. just put it on foil on the top rack and also put foil on the crust like a pie otherwise it gets too crunchy and isnt good. I have my own pizza cutter so I like getting it whole, and this pizza is filling too! a 7 inch may look small but I get filled up from it. I usually order a 12 inch medium deep dish and am full after half the pizza and thats when im starving, so I keep half of if whole and uncut and wrap it up and eat it the next night. Its still just as delicious the next day too. Just heat it like I said for about 15-25 minutes and its as good as the night before. if you like pizza. And are sick of all the same old pizza all around town, you gotta try this place !
