La Estrellita Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Always good food. Service is generally great. They have a few waiters that have been here a while and always treat you right. I love the enchiladas and the chile rellenos. Sub fideo in for rice. Margarita is great but I think upgrading to a little higher tequila is money well spent. Great patio in the summer If you need a place to watch the sunset to the west. No complaints, good family owned Mexican restaurant.

I really hoped to like this more. It was ok. We really like El Jardin in Commerce City, but decided to check La Estrellita out since we had heard good things. Pros: we went on Valentine's Day, were told a 20 minute wait and were seated in 10 minutes. Drinks, food, and service were very prompt - even considering the restaurant was packed. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Cons: can't sit on the patio in winter, and it was miserably hot inside - and I had on short sleeves. Food was ok, but nothing out of this world. Restaurant seems sort of dumpy with low ceilings and basement location. We may go back, but I won't be in a rush.

Great patio, food was very good and service was very friendly. Will definitely come back! Maybe my new favorite place

Absolutely amazing food at such a good price! The people are so nice! I'm definitely coming back! Love it!

We were recommended to come here by a friend. Nice interior and menu but the food was just okay. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in Arizona for a while but if you want good Mexican food it's not here. It could be better. I've had worse before though. Just not in a long time.

Still excellent. The food and service are what you expect from one of the Denver area Mexican food icons.

We were passing through Brighton and found this restaurant. The fajitas were amazing and the spicy-ness wasn't too spicy (very highly recommended). Tons of parking in the back - if you come in the front, you need to go downstairs and walk through the restaurant to the hostess stand. Overall, we HIGHLY recommend!

The rellenos here are amazing. I've been coming here almost 20 years, and am afraid to order anything else. I'd miss out!

  • Julie J.

I love love love the refried beans here. The best beans in the area BY FAR. You also can't miss with the pink Cadillac margarita. Yum. The atmosphere is a bit darker than most restaurants since it is a basement type of place but the food and service make up for it. Check this place out.

Happy Hour: $5 32oz drafts - yessss please! Great family owned, local business in Brighton. Awesome salsa, awesome green chili, great prices, a frequent diner card with pretty sweet benefits and we always have great service. In the summer the patio is real nice. Great views of the mountains! The basement like feel is comfortable but nothing to get excited about. Can't wait to go back!

We ate dinner here late and had the best service I think iv ever had at any restaurant in colorado! A few of us had soda and I had water. All 4 of the drinks were always promptly swept from the table and replenished quickly when low. It is so refreshing to get service like that. The ships and salsa are complementary and the salsa is arguably the best in town. (It was so good I bought a jar and sent it to my mother for Christmas) The food was good price was fair chicken fajitas for me as usual. Seemed to be missing something to push them to the next level of flavor town but still held there own. Portions were filling but no leftovers and definitely not enough to share with 2. We will be back. 4 stars We have dined at all 13 Mexican restaurants in brighton and while this is not our favorite as far as the food it is a sold 4 star but a whole extra star for the fantastic service! Thank you!! Yumm

My husband was raised in southern Colorado, and is always looking for restaurants that offer his familiar version of Mexican food. La Estrellita hit the nail on the head! The food was delicious, as were the margaritas. We'll be back!

The food is ok, we only go when it is nice outside to sit on the patio. I must say the food is just ok not terrific. We have eaten here on more than one occasion and I said to my husband, remind me just because I want to sit on a patio to eat, not to cave in and come here again. The service is consistently horrible. They are order takers not service people, heck I have had better service at McDonalds. It is to bad because I do believe they could have a wonderful business if their wait staff cared about the people, and own mistakes the kitchen makes with the food. Feeling sad about another crabby review, yet optimistic I can find good Mexican food without the attitude.

Patio seating is great. But the food and service is hit or miss. They need to be good consistently.... would also love it if you moved out of the deep, dark, dank smelling basement.

Meh... Just another so-so Mexican restaurant. Tasteless guacamole that was $6 for about a cup and a hand full of tostitos. Chips from a bag and salsa from a jar. Decent fish tacos, but not much fish. Just ok flautas. Our meals came out not hot. We could tell they had been sitting for a while. The patio was nice, but was mosquito infested and we got eaten alive. They have torches sitting there for Citronella, but they apparently don't get used. Lol. Service was so-so. Not great, but no issues other than being late bringing out the food.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant, Customer Service is always on par. The service is fast and the restaurant is always clean. In the summer time their patio is awesome. We live in Thornton and drive to Brighton because nothing else compares!

If you like patio seating, this restaurant has a nice seating area to offer. Sadly, both the food as well as the service is mediocre at best. Dinner starts with a miniscule serving of "straight out of a bag chips" and a facsimile of Pace Picante sauce and it doesn't get much better after that. I had the Chimichanga because, let's face it, how could one ever mess up a deep fried burrito. Well let me tell you how... You make it taste as bland as a box of Rice Crispies and you smoother it on the least spicy green chile you can find. To top of a night of mediocrity, have a waitress whom you have to track down to beg for a refill on your soda and takes nearly 10 minutes to bring it to the table. With so many other Mexican restaurants to choose from, I don't see a good reason to visit La Estrellita again any time soon. That is, of course, unless patio seating is at the top of your list for the perfect dinnertime experience. Just make sure to keep an eye on your goods since this place is not located in the nicest part of town.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Brighton! We eat here typically once a week. Service and friendliness of the staff are what make this place so special. The location is a little weird the first time you visit. The main entrance is in the back, you can get in from the front street, but you'll need to go downstairs. My favorite item on the menu is the shredded pork tacos - add a little of the habanero salsa and you have just the right combination of heat and savory. My wife's favorite is the stuffed chicken sopapilla. When we eat in the restaurant, service is always very courteous, despite being very busy and quite packed on many nights. The green chili is so good that we buy the bottled version for taco nights at home. You will also not want to miss their margaritas. The quintessential family Mexican restaurant - friendly, filling, deliciosa! Highly recommended.

A cute place, big patio, and good food. The food here is good, the prices are low and the dishes are big. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the service, very slow and we never really saw our witness. Over all good food alright service.

Good place! Tasty food and friendly service. I like the rellenos and my wife (bit of a menudo snob) loves the menudo! The main entrance is around back as is the parking. You can get to it from the street, but then you come in the side and it's not nearly as inviting that way.

Entering this establishment on 1st Ave. rather than Main St. is a must. Even though you are able to enter from 45 N Main St with it's helpful signage, you do not get the wonderful atmospheric, colorful glory that you would by entering at 1st Ave. We sat outside to enjoy the cool early August evening on the upper covered patio. We waited a bit too long be received by our waiter, but apparently he was servicing a large dinner party, so that's forgivable because he was comfortably attentive the rest of the meal. We were there at happy hour, 2 for 1 house margaritas and oh my goodness they were amazing! The drinks came in the cutest glasses. Not typical margarita glasses, but cute kitsch antique looking wine glasses. I had the Mayan Enchilada and it was amazing. It was hot, but not too hot where it lost it's delicious flavor. The chicken that was used was not the typical shredded chicken you find in Tex-Mex food, it was cubed and pan seared, just like I would make it at home. You could tell it was chicken and it was so flavorful! The fajitas that my fiance ordered smelled amazing and had a generous portion of toppings on the side. He felt the meat tasted less than savory, dry, boring and inauthentic, although when I tried it cold, in next day, it tasted very flavorful and made my tastebuds leap for joy. Another concern he had was that cumin was used far too much in everything. Although I like the table salsa, I have to agree that a little less cumin could be used. We will be definately going back and referring friends and family to La Estrellita.

Did a weeknight visit around 8pm a few weeks ago and the place was *dead*. They pride themselves on being family-owned and run, and I suppose that is why our server's wife was hanging out in a booth with him when he was not tending to our table, and his toddler was running around the restaurant. We sat in a booth this time, rather than a table, and both my boyfriend and I had to find a high spot on our respective benches, as the springs were broken in the middle of each seat with a giant divot to sit in that would put you about 4 inches lower than you wanted to be. Our menus both had food crusted on the pages - Hey, how about about using some of this "down" time to wipe them off? (I did suggest this after we paid the check, as I feared retaliation from the kitchen if I mentioned it while ordering). Food was quick, since we were the only table in the restaurant until about half way through our meal. My shredded beef burrito was packed with said beef, but far too dry and not a lot of acoutrements on the plate. I ran out of tomatoes and lettuce halfway through it. Boyfriend got the giant smothered beef burrito again and he was happy with the heat from the green chile, but it was too spicy for me to try. Our server was very nice and personable, but it felt forced rather than genuine (a minor complaint, I know, but it can make or break a bad dining experience, IMHO), but this place felt very tired, dirty and frankly, pretty gross, with some lackluster flavors. If the dining room is this icky, what can the kitchen possibly look like? I'm not really sure we're going to go back.

After living in Brighton for over 5 years, and hearing about this restaurant, it was getting a Groupon that finally got us to actually go there. We should've gone much sooner. The other reviews are right, it's in a basement so the ceilings are low, and the space isn't that big, but the food was really good and our waiter was great. He took our order without writing it down, and even with my special requests, everything came out of the kitchen perfectly. The rest of the staff was very friendly as well, and were able to keep up w/my chips, salsa, and iced tea consumption. It wasn't until about halfway through our meal when I finally saw the large size of their beers, I will definitely be ordering a couple of those the next time I go and bemaking my wife drive us home.

  • Heather L.

Still the best in town. I would suggest eating out on their patio as the indoors is pretty dark. Service is spotty, but usually pretty good. As long as I have chips and salsa and my margarita never runs dry, I am happy. Chili rellenos are wonderful. I also cannot say how great their enchilada sauce is! My hubby loves their tostadas. Give them a try....great food.

The Good: The food is always amazing. By far my favorite menu item is the Chimichanga Dinner with shredded chicken and refried beans. Definitely be prepared to wear your elastic waistband pants as you will leave beyond full. The Bad: It is in a basement so it is a little tricky to find the first time. If you go in through the main street entrance you will end up in middle of the restaurant feeling lost. The Ugly: It isn't the most visually appealing place to eat, but if you are going to choose a restaurant based off of its decorations go to Apple Bees. You come here because the food is amazing.

The lunch buffet is killer, everything we had was amazing. But the one thing that stands out is the people who work there. So so friendly attentive and hard working. Yelp said my review is shorter then most so I am adding this to make it longer so this stupid app stops judging me.

Another local favorite here in Brighton, CO, but I loved them at their former Westminster location before that. I guess that makes me a customer for 20-25 years all together. They serve delicious classic Mexican food - my mamacita approved and that's better than the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval - with a few twists. Crispy Chili Rellenos have got to be one of their number one items. The fact that they include them on their lunch and weekend buffet makes the deal all the better! Smothered with their green chili or plain as a finger food, they are crunchy, have great fresh chili taste and no sign of grease. Enchiladas are delicious with a classic red sauce. My daughter loves their chicken salad with fajita onions added and the black raspberry margarita. My son is a total fan of the Mayan Enchiladas, a stacked dish with delicious spicy green Mayan sauce. Excellent fajitas, fish tacos, burritos, tostadas, etc. Don't forget to order the sopapillas (no sugar and add caramel please) or the wonderful fried ice cream. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They know us when we arrive and even if we have to wait a short time, it's always worth it. Those who enjoy dining outside will love the patio.

Very good food and the staff was very friendly. The only "complaint" is that even though they were not busy, our server was quite slow coming to our table to get a drink/meal order. We had already decided on what we wanted to eat and had to wait quite a while before placing our drink & food order at the same time. Other than that, our food arrived quickly, was served hot, and was delicious. We will definitely be repeat customers.

My family and I went to La Estrellita tonight and the experience was outstanding! The customer service is absolutely wonderful. EVERY TIME! The food, especially their green chili is outstanding!! The best in town. Hands down. The thing I've found especially awesome about La Estrellita is this level of exceptional service is totally consistent. We've been around 10 times now and the experience rocks every time. Well done!

So when you are wrong and can't rectify the situation in a honorable way you threatened a woman you would call the police to get her to leave. Never an apology, just that's the way it is deal with it.

I have been coming to Las Estrellita since I was a kid, I am now in my 40's... The original owners ran a very good restaurant with great value and great quality. Since they have given the reins to the kids the quality has gone down, the value is horrible. I ordered Carna Asada and was told they were out. I did not want to order the fajitas because you do not get a lot of meat for the price they charge. I explained to the waiter my concerns and he got the manager. She came to is and apologized and again suggested the fajitas. I explained to her why I did not want them. Against my better judgment I ordered the fajitas. And of course when I get them I was highly disappointed in the amount of meat. The manager came by and asked how the good was. I showed her my two and a half pieces of chicken and my four small strips of steak. She explained it's ensured out to 7oz. I explained that the value for $12.40 has horrible, again she apologized. I get my ticket and was charged full price even though they did not have what originally wanted. I explained to the manager that I would never come back and was highly disappointed in a restaurant that I have been going to since I was a kid. Shame on the owners and destroying a place that has been so dear to my heart...

We've lived in Colorado our entire life & recently moved to the Keenesburg area from Westminster. So, we're checking out "new" places to eat & had a hankering for Mexican food. We found Estrallita's and man, I'm happy we did. The food is excellent!!! I had the #14, a self made combo plate which included a Chile Relleno, soft of course. Very, very good.....everything! Great Margs too. You won't leave hungry. Plus we advised Monika, who by the way is a killer waitress, that this was our first time here. She treated us to an order of sopapillas..... The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the basement seating is a little closed in. When you try this restaurant ask for the patio.... Colorado weather permitting.

we have been going here for years first owned by mom and pop and since i think kids have taken over Food is the same w both owners, which is real good however as many times as i go i overlook how dirty and run down the place is tile on outside patio on left as you leave, is broken and wood is rotten Entry needs power washing trash dumpster is finally behind wooden fences, but most often it is open and just below the patio where people eat dark inside but just looks iffy lots of flies (needs a professional fly company to get rid of fly eggs or something just needs an upgrade and power wash!

I LOVE the green chile from La Estrellita that I buy in the grocery store so I needed to try the restaurant. The crowded Saturday night atmosphere was energetic without being overwhelming. Since the restaurant is divided into a few smaller areas with low ceilings it didn't get too loud. The menu is typical Colo-Mex. Chips and salsa above average. Food was good but not outstanding. The outside patio looked inviting so maybe I'll return when it's warm (it was snowing on my visit). I feel like this menu, food and type of restaurant is found in a lot of towns and malls in Colorado so I won't go out of my way to drive here. But when hungry around Brighton, this is a fine choice. And I'll still buy (and highly recommend) La Estrellita chile and salsas in the grocery story. laestrellitasalsa.com

One of my top restaurants in Brighton, and one of my two or three favorite Mexican places in the North Metro area. Atmosphere: It's usually quite when we go in, which for me is always a plus. the space is divided in such a way that even though it's crowded, it doesn't feel loud or pushy or rushed. It's in a basement, so it's darker with few windows. I personally love that feel, but for some that might be a bit strange. Wait Staff: I've always been happy with our staff. Very personal, very friendly. Food: My favorite food to recommend is their monthly special, just because it's usually something you've not tried before. Pulled pork with a cuban (citrus) feel was this months! After that, i say you must try the Mayan Enchiladas. They have a spicy cream sauce that will burn you with pleasure. seriously, it's hot... but oh so good. I also have two stand by's in Mexican. the salsa and the flan. why go if the salas is bad, am I right? the salas here is rich and tasty. Not too hot, though it has a kick, but more importantly, it has real flavor and doesn't taste like PACE or some "let's see how hot i can make tomato paste!". lots of herbs in the salsa. and for me, the flan is a must have. creamy goodness. Not sure if it's really steamed like a custard should be or if it's more like a well made "instant jello" type thing, but at this point "so what" - it's good! oh, i forgot, the Buffet: m-thus I think, and sunday for brekfast. If you just want a lot of "normal" mexican, you CANNOT go wrong with it. enchladas, green chili, tacos and tostadas. It's like buying an all you can eat "combo plate". ;-)

My husband I tried this place last weekend, and loved it. We are from Oklahoma, and ever since we moved to Colorado (5 years), we have been unable to find Mexican food that is even half as good as it in OK. Well, this place was amazing. The beacharita, queso, rellenos, enchiladas, salsa-all exceeded expectations.

I have read all of the reviews here thinking perhaps we just came in here on a bad day......nope. All of the positive reviews are on the alcoholic drinks or the Green Chili. My husband and I came in for lunch on a Sunday, so we weren't drinking alcohol. Probably should have, it might have made all the difference. Or perhaps if we had ordered something with the "Hot Green Chili" that may have hidden the fact that none of our food resembled any Mexican Food I have ever had. I ordered the 3 taco combo, never touched the rice or beans, totally looked like a bad Swanson's TV Dinner. My husbands food looked like it had been regurgitated. I asked for an ICE Tea with sugar, and as the server was walking away, he told me over his shoulder that I could find sugar in front of me on the table. NOT.......oh well, when he brought the tea back he noticed there was none. So he graciously grabbed some off of the vacant table next to us, but did not apologize for correcting me. My husband asked for Abonagas soup for an appetizer, but the server said they were out, and could he bring some menudo instead? Hubby says ok. We were served the dinner first and then the soup came out 10 minutes later. My husband told the server that he thought it might come before dinner and maybe we could just take it to go, and the server apologized and said he would bring a container, and my husband told him no apology necessary and sure he could use a container for it. The next thing you know we have some broad at our table telling my husband that she understood he had a problem with the soup coming out after the dinner, and that they never serve the soup first. And that if he wanted the soup first then he needed to specify that when ordering. That was it for me! I explained to her that most restaurants bring the soup and or salad before the meal, and even though she tried to cut me off, I thanked her for going out of her way to clarify for us how they run things and we would be sure to remember that IF we should EVER decide to come back again. Then I welcomed her to bring our check, as I was ready to leave. And I left 90% of my food there, and I will never recommend this place, or return to it. We were extremely polite to our server, and did not try to not pay for the soup, so where this condescending attitude came from is beyond me.

I've been in a hunt for veggie friendly green chile for long as I can remember. Being vegetarian and all, it is hard to find green chile without meat...and La Estallita makes a pretty damn good green chile (OK, OK, I haven't tasted too many vegetarian ones, but their's is certainly up there) I used to work in Brighton for a few years, and found myself here almost every week. Food is pretty good, and once the staff knows you, they let you in on how to order stuff that's vegetarian. Like most mexican restaurants in town, they let you custom order. When I craved mexican food, a quick drive to get '#8-Gina's favorite' did the trick. PROS: Good taste, green chile, very affordable CONS: Far from Denver, could use newer decor, gets noisy at times

I've eaten everything on the menu (literally), and the fish tacos are the best around. From enchiladas to fajitas to salads, nothing really disappoints. What this place lacks in ambiance (low ceilings, and kinda cramped), it makes up for in sabor.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
