My husband and I walked by Blue Plate on our way to another establishment, checked out their menu, and saw fondue! As we happy hour'ed next door, we found ourselves thinking about Blue Plate, so we settled our check and walked on over. And what a delight! The incredible Holly was our server for the evening. The tapas included the BEST hummus we've ever had in our lives (and we eat a lot of hummus)! Homemade gluten free bread was also a standout. Yummy Korean short ribs, tempura artichokes...we were wowed before the fondue! Speaking of which, it was stunning! Holly raved about the special- a shrimp tika masala- so we shared it and were blown away! Enough about the food--the staff are co-stars in this incredible restaurant. Holly is new to the area but gels perfectly with Colorado and the Blue Plate team. "We're like a family," she said, and so did the owner, Allie, and we believe it. The incredible chef, Adam, came out and chatted with us, helped me see where I'm going awry in my own attempts at hummus. Allie, originally from Austria, treated us to an impromptu wine lesson (she was only 7 weeks away from being 1 of only 136 Master's of Wine when she and Adam fell in love and married). It blew our minds and we are anxious to work on food/wine pairings at home! Next trip to this area will most certainly include Blue Plate. Our evening was a magical combination of great food, wonderful service, and charming, delightful new friends. GO THERE!!

Recently My another and I were in Avon as a last stop on our two and a half week road trip. As a last meal together we wanted something nice. We stopped at Northside Kitchen across town 15 minutes earlier and walked out due to it's drab and unwelcoming staff. So we headed back to the hotel and saw their specials board on the sidewalk, sounded great! We went in at an odd time late in the afternoon, so it was somewhat quiet, while a baby shower was going on outside on their nice patio. Including bar. So we sit inside. There are big windows everywhere so the views are quite nice. Our server Cindi welcomes us. She takes our drink order and tells us "I'll put the bread rolls in the oven"...uhm yes please! I'm weak for a place with good bread and butter. They do have lots of great Gluten Free options in their menu though! Gluten intolerance is real people! She returns, makes some great suggestions and knows the menu. I love a server who knows their stuff. We order stuffed grape leaves and escargot, wonton style. Had to try them! Mom loved the grape leaves, which were vegetarian, thank goodness! Being a Veg/Pescatarian, it's hard finding GOOD food that doesn't have any meat/meat product in it. Nice garnish of tzatziki and tomato. My escargot wontons were decent. I don't think escargot should ever be "wonton style", butter pastry probably would've been a better idea. Chewy snails too. The garnish of onion and tomato helped. Put it in a crispy pastry, serve with more garlic butter sauce and bam, you've got a winner. Just sayin...it was "decent". The bread came out hot, with whipped butter. Totally made up for my appetizer. Asked for a second order, she gladly obliged, and I had new hot rolls 15 mins later. Our main courses were fantastic! Mom had Summer vermicelli, with an avocado pesto sauce and tons of fresh seasonal veggies. I had the pork schnitzel. O. M. G. Awesome! They also do a version with veal, 7 dollars more. Served with potato salad, which was cold, vinegar-y, and with lettuce, so good! Like real German potato salad. Garnish of lemon and some berry sauce, the sauce was too sweet and covered the taste of the schnitzel. Ate it with lemon and the potato salad and I loved it. The food was good, the server was great, loved the booth we sat in too. Cindi talked with us a while about our home state of Florida and was a really outgoing, server. The world is small, always strike up conversation when you can. Next time we are in Avon, we will definitely go back.

The restaurant feels like it's either in transition or the owners / staff have stopped putting the effort into making it exceptional. In the 30 minutes we were dining, I must have heard "I'm sorry" at least 10 times. Apologies are great when they are the exception to the rule, but it seems they are more the rule here than not. I ordered my burger mid-rare and it was well done. The $2 upgrade to a gluten free bun turned out to be a slice of crumbly, dry bread. The meat itself was a patty no larger than a small silver dollar pancake and although the menu states "never frozen," I'd venture that it was certainly frozen. At the table next to us, hair in the soup. At the table across, wrong order. The writing is on the wall here. Overall, there are much better places to spend your cash.

Really enjoyed the romantic patio ambiance and Cindy, our server, made it extra enjoyable! We shared the day's special, Braised beef ribs, super tasty! Great wine list and also also had a fantastic guitarist that played the whole time we were there. Extremely enjoyable evening!

Good food, however, the service wasn't great. We only saw our waiter one time in an hour. We waited so long for the check I finally had to get up and go find him. I would give it another chance because the food was good. The check was $32.00 with pasta and a cocktail.

Great lunch, great value, simple, pleasant atmosphere. The outside patio is very peaceful. The service was prompt and friendly.

  • Ted L.

Great food but their wine prices are too "rich" for my budget. They advertise buy an entree and get second free but you must buy a bottle of wine. Cheapest bottle is $32.00. They need to offer a selection which includes some affordable wines. We will not return.

The food is wonderful! The seasonings are spot on whether its chicken, fish or meat and the sauce on the mussels is subliminal! The wait staff is all great and Cindi really goes the extra mile Blue Plate is one of our favorites!

This is always a go to spot when we're up in the Vail Valley. If you are in the valley in the summer, make sure to check to see if they are doing their weekly "Old World BBQ". These pork and lamb roasts are to die for and you can watch Chef tending to the spit most of the day. Whether you're looking for a quick bite for lunch or apres or an amazing dinner, The Blue Plate has something for everyone. Their new space in the boat building at the main roundabout in town has a nice bar area, open kitchen concept and one of the best patios in Avon. Make sure to check their nightly specials and make a reservation to ensure you get the good eats!

Great local restaurant at the entrance to Beaver Creek. I recommend the chicken. It is unbelievable. Service is always outstanding and very personal. The bread is fresh and comes out piping hot. It's so delicious that it's easy to fill up on. Price point is very reasonable. I strongly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

They just opened up an outside bar area and it is beautiful! We went late night and had great service and some delicious appetizers. Very different options for food to get excited about! We had fried frog legs, delicious hummas, a fun beet dip, and mussels. They were a great assortment for small plates! The late night atmosphere was wonderful! One f our lovely servers Kyle was wonderful! And it's a nice little daytime spot for a beautiful day!

The Blue Plate is an upscale restaurant with live music and a full bar. They have a good variety on the menu and the service was very good. Our table was ready when we arrived for our reservation. Overall, I liked The Blue Plate. Don't let the name mislead you, it is not a blue collar restaurant.

I love the fact that they cook healthy comfort food from all over the world. New American classics...the fondue melting pot! I like the Happy Apps especially the Casablanca Mussels and Calamari. Maybe the best value in the Vail Valley. Get one popover to share with the table...awesome!

Had a magical evening at the Blue Plate Bistro in Avon,CO. The service staff was attentive and professional. Happy Hour before 6:30pm - half price tapas and discount drinks. Alexander served us and was wonderful! Live music on patio from 6:30 to 8:30. Fish and chips were unique and delicious. Blue Salad was also great. Highly recommend the Blue Plate!

AMAZING FOOD!! I have gone here about 6 times since I have moved to Avon one month ago. It is the most delicious food! Everything I have tried on the menu is divine. The calamari is a must have, it comes with an amazing cranberry jalapeño aioli that complements the calamari perfectly. I also recommend the veal schnitzel, hummus, zucchini pasta, filet, and every special they offer! The specials are perfect, so far I have had the pork, lamb, fried chicken, and chicken kabobs. All of them have been mouthwatering and scrumptious. The service is amazing and chef is very friendly!! All of the staff are very well trained, friendly, welcoming, ready and willing to help, and know the menu like the back of their hand! The Blue Plate is a MUST when visiting the vail valley. Absolutely divine, fresh, preservative free food (I know this because I am allergic to preservatives and have never been sick from this restaurant). You are truly missing out if you haven't had the Blue Plate! An absolutely wonderful experience.

We had fantastic meal here, the steak dinner was amazing. Good friendly staff that were happy to help and had a great knowledge of the menu. Cindi's recommendation was perfect. It's a cozy place with good atmosphere. I would highly recommend a visit. We will be back for sure!

I shared few thing with my sister at this place and tried the fondue for appetizer but the cheese was a little bit light side and felt like not tick enough but taste was great. Also had Crispy Artichokes & vege which tasted great. I was worried about being to oily but was not at all and enjoyed it. We also shared Rocky Mountain Trout Was AWESOME! I'd go back to try that again. The sauce they had around the trout was pink and I was surprised but was tasted so great with fish. It was Meyer Lemon infused sauce and the color was from raspberry. Fish was really well cooking! It was nicely crisped skin and was just so good. They have a chocolate fondue but was too full by then so next time!

My husband and I have been to the Blue Plate twice on family trips to Beaver Creek. The first time we had a romantic dinner in a cute booth in the "Adult room" which is a very nice concept for us childless couples. Alive plants were hanging from the wall, and the candle light added a very nice touch. It was super romantic and perfect for our weekend getaway. When it came to dinner we were blown away. The mussel appetizer was unforgettable, I will never be able to eat mussels anywhere else and I think I ate my weight in bread soaking up the delishes sauce!. My better half got the Wiener Schnitzel and it was on point authentic! . Since I only eat grass fed beef, I was super excited to see this on the menu , and I was not disappointed with the filet, it was cooked perfectly and the sauce that came with it was awesome! The staff was great. Everyone we encountered was professional and super nice. The owner even came by to ask how everything was, which was nice. Our server Alex anticipated every need without being obtrusive. Some of the better service I have had in the Vail Valley. It was also kind cool that they have an open kitchen and you can watch the chefs do their magic! We like it so much we came back with the family a couple of weeks later. At first I was a little bit worried because my 3 year old nephew is a picky eater , and was not sure how kid friendly the place was. Little did I know they have a kid menu, and gave him balloons and crayons to keep him entertained. It was great, we tried some other stuff this time, you have to try the calamari its fantastic. My nephew loved his kid size meatloaf and the fish and chips I got was super crispy without being greasy ( came with skinny fries , my favorite!) We all wanted to lick the plates. Got desert this time, and we were all fighting over the Apple Turnover, and had to order a second one. We also ordered some brandy and coffee to round out another perfect dinner at Blue Plate. Defiantly my favorite place to eat at Beaver Creek! We will be back for sure.

The schnitzel was very good, especially with the loganberry spice. It think the pork is better than the veal. Excellent service from Cindi.

We had a great experience! The food was amazing. Most of our table ordered the special of the night which was roasted lamb and it was fantastic! We also got the chili and pasta a la vodka, both were also well put together and impressive. Our server, Cindy, was exceptional and gave great service that made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

My advice: do yourself a favor, and go to **any** other restaurant within walking distance. Here are just five reasons why: * A chef who verbally abuses his staff and customers * Remarkably poor service * Mediocre food * It is shunned by locals * And it's **way** overpriced, even by resort town standards My wife, daughter, and I were visiting Beaver Creek for the first time and were looking for a dinner spot at about 8:30pm on our first night in town. We walked into a surprisingly empty restaurant and were greeted pleasantly enough. My wife ordered a fondue appetizer and a salad entree. I ordered a simple pasta. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese with fries. So far, so good. Fast forward. The fondue comes out, no problem. My daughter's dinner is served. No problem. Then the fun begins. As we were finishing our appetizer, it became apparent that the staff was shutting the floor down for the night by clearing and stacking the tableware for closing. It's maybe 9:00 at this point and we were one of two tables left. There's nothing like having the centerpiece pulled off your table during appetizers to make you feel like you're welcome! One of our waiters finally pauses his closing duties to ask if we wanted anything else, clearly irritated at us that we're taking our sweet time. "How about our entrees?" I ask. He gets that panicked look that can only mean one thing: they forgot our entree order. (I waited tables in high-end restaurants for several years, so I know the signs). You'd think that would mean that our food would be served right away. You'd be wrong. 15 minutes later, my wife's salad and my pasta are eventually served. Both at room temperature. I just wanted to get out so I didn't complain, but then my wife sticks her fork in the salad. Out crawls a rather large insect. We call the nearest waiter over who does the right thing by apologizing and pulling the plate immediately. This is where it pivots from simply bad to absurd. See, Blue Plate has an open kitchen. No problem, except the chef obviously went to The Gordon Ramsay School of Communication and started yelling and abusing his staff and...wait for it...us. When the waiter reports the incident, he explodes. "Tell her that salad fu@k!ng comes from outside! What the hell does she expect?!?" Like it's a miracle that every single salad I've ever ordered in my life was magically bug-free. It took all of my restraint and my wife's steady hand on my arm not to deck the guy. Lots of grumbling and not-so-passive-aggressive moaning later, the chef yells out to anyone who cares to listen that my wife's salad is ready for pickup. Then the chef announces loudly to his staff that he's leaving in 2 minutes and everybody better get their fu@k!ng orders in. Keep in mind that a two-top was just seated on the patio along about the time the bug came crawling up my wife's fork. I guess they had to order off the fu@k-you menu, because the chef left before they could even put in their order. Keep in mind that it's somewhere in the vicinity of 9:45 at this point. To add insult to injury, the waiter presented the check while we were still eating (he's still trying to rush us out). There's no discount for forgetting our entrees; no comped salad for the insect incident; no free desert for taking the verbal abuse. Nothing. Not even a mint. In the end, we paid $100 for pasta, a salad, a grilled cheese, and some sterno-melted gruyere. Oh, one other thing: every local I mentioned the incident to pretty much had the same reaction saying in a conspiratorial tone, "yeah, I don't like that place either."

We like the food and love their server, ALEX!! He's very accommodating. We try to be gluten free and it's nice to go to a restaurant that highlights gluten free options... Although they do charge for gluten free bread... basically we could have bought an entiore loaf of Ude's for the price of 4 pieces of toasted Ude bread... The food is fresh.. I get the impression that the owner/chef is very hands on... perhaps a little over bearing.... just an observation. Overall great alternative to the traditional overpriced restaurants in Vail Valley! I will say this about Alex.. if he goes somewhere else...we will definitely follow!.. Thanks for taking great care of us Alex. Great deal on Happy Hour Apps... outdoor dining as well as live music outside.

A great disappointment. In past years Blue Plate was a place to have a good and hearty meal that was reasonably priced. This year prices are up be some $10 (30%), placing BP in another price bracket. Moreover, their food was not as good as I remember it. For example their wonderful peas were a not up to par, as they were overcooked. I hope they reform, for the place was not crowded in July. The word may be getting out.

This was quite a find. While staying in Beever Creek I was lucky to hear about this place from the concierge at the hotel I was staying at. The two meals I had here were delicious! The first night I tried the caesar salad, it had some bight from the chile powder and a lemony dressing. Very tasty. My friend had the roast chicken while the other had the blue salad. All three dishes were very flavorful. Tonight I dined at Blue Plate Bistro. Luckily, we had made reservations, I highly recommend that by the way. We began with the calamari appetizer, which was not over breaded. It came with a great dipping sauce. For my entree, I tried the meatloaf. It was amazing! The meatloaf came with a peppercorn sauce and reminded me of steak au pouve. YUM! My friend tried the Schrizal (sp) it was really tasty and came with linden berries and german potato salad. Very well flavored. While my other friend had the carpachio, she said it was quite tasty. Next time, if I ever return to Beever Creek I will dine here again! P.S. the "ticket man" is super nice and helpful. As our the rest of the staff at this restaurant!

Fire alarm went off in the middle of dinner. Someone from restaurant told us to stay seated and they would turn off the alarm. 10 mins later the fire alarm is still ear piercing loud. If the fire alarm goes off you need to get everyone out of the restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest should have comped everyone's dinner for a huge screw up like this but they did nothing.

We stumbled on this place looking for some dinner and happened to walk in on their grand re-opening night The restaurant was 1/2 packed but pretty busy. The menu is new American and has lots to choose from. The lobster thermidor was highly recommended and a few friends did order it. I went with the roasted chicken dinner with mash potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy skin and moist. We shared an order of the North American mussels and wow...delicious. I could have eaten a few bowls of this. Great wine menu especially by the glass. Not a whole lot of selection but the ones I tried were spot on. No dessert or anything like that but despite the waitress warning us there might be a few hiccups the food and service was perfect! Congrats on the re-opening!

The artichoke frites were a warm and crispy starter. The main dishes, although they took a little while to prepare, were delicious. Duck confit - large, crispy, warm, moist and flavorful. Filet- cooked perfectly and served with fries and veg Lamb 2 ways - perfectly cooked Dessert: popovers - served with sweet cream and fresh fruit ... An excellent end. We will return!

Eaten at both the old and new blue plate. The old was a four star the new a two, so got a three. Wait staff is RUDE WITH A TUDE. walked in and was told they weren't open! Guess what guy? Get a sign, lock the door or do both! Came back, gf made me, had the lamb sandwich. It was the consistency of beef jerky left in the sun for a day. I had about 1/3s of the 12$ plate (lol), I couldn't stomach anymore. I literally threw in the towel. When they cleared the plate I made comment that the lamb shouldn't have been served to me. To which no one thought it was pertinent to discount or even bring me more food. BEST! of all was their "tv personality" chef was in the kitchen! (out of kindness I'm leaving the quotes off chef) He needs to get his house in order because I truly doubt he will occupy his new restaurant with that service or food.

I had dinner here while on a business trip, and the ambience and selection is top notch. The waitress was great, and the chef/owner greeted us. My group was happy with everything they ordered. I had the Tomato Bisque soup (soup of the day), shared a stuffed grape leaves appetizer, Trout Meunier, and Apple Struedel dessert (and tried some of the Flourless Chocolate Cake). All were absolutely delicious.

Let me start with the very bad waiter! Knew nothing about the specials or the wine! Had no idea of how to take or serve a order. Promoted how great the pork shank was and that it was a must have !! Explained how it's slow cooked and falls off the bone, when in reality... was shoe leather. Everyone who has watched the Griswald's " Christmas Vacation" when they saw open the burnt turkey and there's nothing in it and it but a cloud of dust would be a " nice description" of what it was like. When asked how everything was and we told them , been tring to cut meat thru the burnt, overcooked rine, they did absolutely nothing about it! Truely a big ripoff and joke of a upscale restaurant. Our party of 8 spent $300-400.00 for a meal that was a not worth 20 bucks! Too bad, we will be announcing our experience to our many friends ! Sad the waiter lied, the staff was very unprofessional. 12-9-2014

There are only two situations that compel me to write a review - either the experience was stellar or it was absolutely mortifying. Sadly, in this case, it was the latter that has motivated me to review this restaurant. From the moment we arrived at this establishment, the mood was tense. The waiter didn't even greet us, rather walked right up to the table and jumped into the evening's specials and encouraged us to order quickly because the kitchen was backed up and didn't want us to be there too long. From there, the dining experience was downhill and we were made to feel as though our presence at their restaurant was an inconvenience. It's apparent the owners (who are also the head chef and hostess) breed a culture of arrogance and entitlement - the staff is obviously overworked and morale is low. You'd think the saving grace would at least be the food, but sadly not. It's just mediocre food that can be had at any other restaurant in Anywhere, USA. Though, it's food I wouldn't mind eating again if the experience had been improved, because the restaurant itself is cute and could have a very cozy, friendly atmosphere if the owners and staff wanted to focus more on customer service. The only perk to the evening was they comped a dessert and some wine at the end of the meal as a means to make up for the poor experience. However, it was just too little, too late and we will not return. I honestly don't know how a place like that can stay in business during peak ski season in a town that attracts tourists from all over the globe. (BTW - you can leave home without your American Express, because this place doesn't accept it.)

Blue Plate Bistro was a great place to have our last, and best meal in town. Delicious food, nice decor and service, plus they were kid-friendly. Definitely will be coming back again our next visit to Beaver Creek! Kudos on a great concept and food.

While Visiting our son who lives in Minturn, we decided to try out this place as TC had heard nice reviews. We didn't have a reservation on a Thursday night but were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and a bit frazzled as there were 3 large parties of walk-ins prior to our arrival. She was still prompt and very accommodating. The fried calamari app was tasty but an extremely small portion. My husband had the French Onion soup which tasted freshly made, and the mussel special was excellent. I had cornmeal crusted trout which was cooked perfectly , the mashed potatoes were a little too salty though. My son had the Chateaubriand, he asked for it to be cooked medium but it was served rare. My other Son had the meatloaf which was a very generous portion, and he enjoyed that. All the entrees had the same mashed potatoes, peas a accompanied the chateau while asparagus was served with the trout. I ordered there signature popover dessert which was delicious, the cheesecake was again small, the flour less chocolate cake was served too cold and a very dense texture. I gave it 4 stars based on the prices, the app was too small, and our desserts were served at different times as the popover preparation is long, the other desserts served first were consumed before I had mine served.

Nice restaurant, somewhere between casual and upscale but perfectly fine for young families. We found that the description on the menu looked better than the food actually was. I had the meatloaf and although it was described as a signature dish, I found nothing special about it. I thought the Castle Peak Grille, though more casual, had a menu that was better executed, if simpler.

How lucky were we to be in Avon during Blue Plate's post-shoulder-season opening special and enjoy $2 pulled pork sandwiches! I ate my weight in pulled pork, while our son devoured the American Onion Soup, and my wife had, as usual, a healthy salad. The pork was fantastic, the soup was excellent and not too salty as onion soups often can be, and the salad was satisfying. See the pix!

After reading all of the reviews here, we decided to try Blue Plate for ourselves. Unlike the bad experiences some people describe here, our experience was pretty good. When we arrived at the restaurant, our table was ready. We found the service staff to be pleasant and helpful as well. Since we arrived at the restaurant at around 8:30 PM, we were pretty hungry and wanted to order right away. After we ordered, we were told to expect a wait of 20 minutes. This surprised us since we thought the restaurant wasn't very busy. Oh well, perhaps they were short staffed this particular evening? The good news is that we were very pleased with our meals once they arrived. The Chateaubriand, BBQ ribs and souffle-like desert we ordered were amazingly good. If you have time, this would be a great place to enjoy a reasonably priced meal that is delicious. One criticism... we were told extra bread would us $1.00 per bun. That seemed extremely tacky to us and certainly didn't match the rest of our pleasant experience at this restaurant. If I ran this restaurant, I would certainly add staff, speed up the cooking process and lose the $1.00 surcharge for extra bread. Doing this would earn this restaurant a 5 -star rating - for sure.

After arriving and checking in to our hotel, we were in search of a place for lunch. We stumble upon this place on our way to the grocery store. It looked nice and relaxing and good way to start the vacation. The place was not crowded, but was serving a decent lunch crowd. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The decor was modern and sleek. The front room is a little tough in the afternoon with the sun, but someone finally lowered the blinds. The food was solid, but nothing incredible. I got the tickled turkey sandwich (turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and cranberry mayo -not sure that was actually in there). The sandwich was tasty and not huge, so perfect for lunch. The curry chicken salad sandwich and the man up burger were also ordered. Both solid choices, but the chili on the man up burger is quite spicy, not for a wimpy mouth.

We had a great dinner, started with the cheese fondue, after a day of skiing you can eat it without too much guilt! We also had the salmon tartar which was excellent. The artichokes were not good, our fault for ordering them and we missed the tempura part. I had the mussels for my entrée which were really great and some nice wine by the glass. Service was excellent.

We ate at the Blue Plate Bistro two nights ago and had an exceptional meal. There were 5 of us and every persons dinner was fantastic. The cheesecake for desert was probably the best this group of well traveled folks has ever had. We almost didn't go here because of the reviews posted. But we were pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant has moved locations from what is shown in the posted pictures to a better location with nicer interior decor and incredible service and food. In fact everything was so good we talked about it the following day. We all loved our entrees and could eat there again, but we could also just go there nightly for the cheesecake. Depending on what is ordered entrees range from $20 - $35, They have a nice website with the menus if you need more information. Seating indoors or out. Casual attire.

As many have said before about other businesses, if zero stars were an option I'd choose that. Appetizers swimming in oil (pita chips shouldn't ooze oil when you squeeze them!), pork special so dry we sent it back and were told the chef admitted he left it in too long, watered-down drinks, soggy trout skin, oh and did I mention, 24 hours of gastrointestinal distress for both of us??? To their credit, they admitted they messed-up the special and took it off the bill. When we brought the other items to their attention, they just took an "oh well" attitude. We gave them 4 chances to make things right, and they took advantage of none of them: 1) verbally mentioning it to the host while at the restaurant, 2) writing out our issues on the charge receipt, 3) sending an email to the restaurant website (which was never replied-to) and, 4) calling to speak with the host. They were very busy and I felt bad for our server who was clearly overtaxed. This translated into greasy fried items, overdone meats, fish sopping up sauce and becoming soggy and ice melting into drinks to water them down. I was willing to chalk it up to a bad night and asked what they could do to make things right. It's a week later, and they've chosen not to respond. Again, everyone has a bad day, but how you choose to handle (or in this case NOT handle) matters says a lot about the quality/integrity of staff. This is going to sound like a "Top Chef" critique, but while the ideas are decent (I mean really, how hard are tempura vegetables and hummus?) the execution was dreadful. They all were mistakes that belie the inability to multitask. Our server who was literally sweating from having to run admitted as much when he told us that he had twice the number of tables as his co-worker, and for the host to wipe down tables was common as "we all have to help each other out." Nice thought, but how about if each person plays only their assigned role--and does it impeccably? It's an idea they should consider. Until they do, avoid this place, or stock up on Pepto-Bismol and Kaopectate.....

After years of reading the paper and wondering, I finally gave in with their 50%off entrees advertisement. Still not worth it. The biggest complaint is the service. The gratuity is always automatic, creating a low motivation from the servers. In general, servers work harder for better tips. When customers rarely add more to the auto 18% on what was the overpriced original price, servers lack in enthusiasm. Who blames them? We ordered the veal schnitzel and lamb.Courtney has had schnitzel ($26 originally) back home and said this one didn't compare. The lamb ($26 originally) was undercooked. Maybe that's how they cook it, but I would prefer lamb cooked. We sent it back, and I have never sent food back... There was food left over, but we passed.

This restaurant had never disappointed in the past and when it moved to new location it's hours were all different, we tried 3times to eat there and they were closed, I hope they are more consistent now. We had lunch, I had the taco salad and was impressed. Then one night we had a friend dinner party there and had a great experience. Would definitely return but sounds like by other reviews they need to pay some attention to the wait staff. We had no problems ever the though.

The service is great and the staff friendly. The bread was fresh baked and still warm. The wine pour was generous but the portion of bass I got was a little meager. However, I left satisfied.

My only regret is that we didn't find this place earlier. The staff was wonderfully attentive and very helpful with suggestions. The chateaubriand was amazing, well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The schnitzel was light and tender. It's the one restaurant that we will absolutely return to any time we are in the area.

My husband and I have been to Blue Plate for lunch before so we decided to try them on a Saturday evening. As soon as our pre-dinner glass of wine was served our entrees appeared. This was about 5 minutes after we ordered which we thought a bit unnecessary. After eating we ordered a second glass of wine, a port and a coffee. We were then asked if we could finish our wine in the bar because they had someone waiting for our table. In all, the service was rude. The saving grace was the duck was excellent.

We live in the next town over, and have our pick of restaurants. This is our go to place. The food we have has been solid, reliably good. I don't know why in the world the reviews are bad, I mean really, give someone a three star because they charge for extra bread? We had the schnitzel and you can't go wrong with it. They used to have it only on Thursday nights. Also, their dessert popovers (you have to order early!!) are to die for. The waiters are savvy and experienced, and the owners have been fixtures in our area for a long time. We locals unfortunately don't write reviews that often because we just aren't tuned in to yelp, so the complainers get the votes. Try this place out yourself, and if you like it, take the time to review it.

Let's consider duck and lamb. Yeah, those were good mains. Some sides were passable; others, like haricots verte, were really great. The prices were very fair for the area. The place is totally sincere. The chef and his wife run the place, and the menu reflects an individual's interests and creativity. It's not a consultant-driven menu. a Greek salad was 4-star. So were the dolmades. Bread was baked when we sat down and served fresh; a nice touch (refills on the bread will cost you, but how much bread do you want with your meal, anyway?) Alcohol prices were fair, too.

Excellent meal. We had 4 adults and a teenager and all were very happy with our diverse choices. Great atmosphere, good suggestion from the sommelier on wine selection. The roasted chicken is one of the best I've ever tasted.

We had a very good dinner at Blue Plate this past weekend with a group of 5 friends. I feel a little bad giving Blue Plate their first non-five-star review, but for me 4-stars is a very good / positive experience. I would definitely recommend this place to friends, and will go back the next time I visit Beaver Creek. Blue Plate offers a respectable menu of comfort food done well, avoiding the temptation of having a huge menu of variable quality. Our table had some very good fried chicken, good BBQ pork, and a couple of good salads. I had a side of mac and cheese with my salad and it was a great meal - comfort food all the way. They also offered all of their wines at 1/2 off for a bottle, which was too good to pass up. That was on a Saturday night, so that sounds like a good night to visit! We were there at about 8pm and the restaurant was empty except for a couple of tables. This was in the slow season (late September), of course, but I assume its more busy in the high season given the quality and the affordable prices. This place seems like a great and convenient alternative to resort / village food when you're in town skiing.

We dined here our first morning at the Christie lodge and found that they were way too understaffed to handle a 75% full restaurant for brunch. Our food came out after an hour and my dish was incorrect so I sent it back to get what I'd ordered. We were promised it would only take a few minutes. After another half hour of waiting, we left. Will never come back to this restaurant.

This is based on one meal. I stopped for lunch, had the lamb pita sandwich and slaw. It was great. Service was attentive and kind. They didn't even give me grief when I realized I'd left my wallet at my last stop and had to write them an out of town check with no ID, because I was in a hurry to get back and get my wallet before it disappeared. I came back after the wallet recovery operation and paid them with "real" money even though they hadn't said a word either way. I will eat here again, the food was good.

We had brunch there. Waitress was a biker chick with a horrible attitude. No kids menu. Food took almost an hour. Food was ok, but not worth suffering the wait or place. Avon is filled with salty local ski bums. Avoid it and go to vail! It's worth the extra money!

Very friendly staff but unfortunately the food is just so-so. Steak and lobster special was cold. Veal schnitzel, a house special, was bland. Don't sit near the window. The heater will toast you.

Close to the Westin hotel. Easy family dinner, friendly staff but dinner was mediocre. We had the wiener schnitzel and trout.

I am SHOCKED that there are ANY one star reviews for this place. We had one of the best meals of our lives. I was exceedingly happy. So Scott and I were in Avon for our honeymoon. We received a 3 night stay at The Westin Riverfront Resort at Beaver Creek and we wanted a good meal while we were there. We hunted and read ALL thru the dining guide in our room and then I saw it, 5 words.... ' Thursday Night - Vienna Style Schnitzel. OMG. These words mean a lot to this chick. My eyes rose, I asked my new husband if we could go HERE!!! PLEASE????? He read over the partial menu, and was also immediately convinced. YAY! Admittedly, I have a schnitzel "problem" perhaps. I make it at home with pork and a lemon dill sauce all the time. I LOVE IT!!! That night I ordered the veal though, due to Scott's insistence, ( thank you baby). Oh and we had an appetizer too, I'll get to that in a second. So our meals arrive. Scott ordered the duck and it looked so beautiful. It was cooked perfectly, the sauce was insane and the crunch was also perfection. It was very well done and I am glad he likes to share. Now, that schnitzel, holy crap. HOT DAMN! Fill in any happy and amazed phrase you choose.... This was out of this world. They served it with potato salad and a green veggie, and then two HUGE pieces of meat with a coating that angels must have made. Can you actually bread something in butter? Golden, rich, rare Avon Colorado, wonderful, butter ??? Is there such a thing? Because all I tasted was the most tender meat surrounded in this incredible silky butter flavor. It really was life changing. With lemon wedges... I was in heaven. We had tempura fried artichoke for the appetizer. It was also great. The artichoke itself was just right, great mellow flavor and the sauce was ridiculous. Scott and are so perfect, as we can sit and spend hours just talking about the way each thing tastes and what may be in it. It is great fun! My cocktail was very enjoyable and so was dessert! We are going back here whenever we can. If it's Thursday, that would be magnificent!

After a full day of Vail skiing, we were ready to chow down, and Blue Plate was a great choice. We were seated quickly, and staff was very attentive with fresh baked bread and great suggestions. The duck, and the 2way lamb were both outstanding. Duck was crispy and not too fatty with a delicious berry sauce. Trout was ok, a little watery but the side veggies were well cooked and seasoned. Nice clean modern ambiance.

I have eaten here twice. Both times happened to be on a Thursday. What's so significant about Thursday night here you ask? SCHNITZEL NIGHT. it's darn good and comes with german potato salad on the side (sans mayo). Also, their bread alone is almost worth stopping by. It's so good that they charge you for each additional roll. I don't quite understand this, but it's actually worth it.

You've got to be kidding. This place has been getting good reviews so we tried it; 6 of us; all moderate foodies. Empty on Friday night is not a good sign but we were optimistic anyway. The starters, watery onion soup with cheddar cheese on top. Cheddar? Whose idea was that? A salad with cinnamon almonds and fake bacon bits. Not a class act. But the worst were the main courses: the special trout, pan fried to oblivion with the outside leather and the inside mush. Salt, pepper and lots of lemon made it tolerable. An order of famous pork ribs, slowly cooked for way too long with an oversweet sauce. Falling off the bone is an understatement. There was little relation between the bone and the meat. And my friend Rick, who will eat anything, could not eat the meat loaf. We all tried it and were grossed out. There was a spice that none of us could recognize. Pretty scary!

We're from Long Beach, CA and staying at the Westin Riverfront for Thanksgiving. Talking to the concierge at the Westin, they mentioned this place with a list of others like Vin, Splendido, and Sweet Basil. All looked great but this one was kid-friendly and the most affordable. I'm so glad we chose this place because it was comfortable, casual, and had great food served from their Thanksgiving menu. The kids got the turkey meal with everything the tradition calls for - cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, dark and light meat, and homemade (?) stuffing. Absolutely scrumptuous! I had the same was super happy and satisfied beyond belief! But I do have to say that my husband's ham entree was by far the best ham I have ever had! It was so moist, cooked on the edges just perfectly, and way beautiful to look at! Usually, ham isn't very aesthetically pleasing so for some reason I thought this was perfectly cooked enough to eat more and more of it even if I was way full! The hot buns they serve are also fresh and just out of the oven. The next day the turkey sandwich leftovers were by far the best I've had!!! I'm not sure about the other food on their regular menu but I know I'd return even if it wasn't a holiday! Service was genuine and quick! Thanks guys! Keep up the good work!

What can I say, this place is GREAT!!! I came here for lunch one time this past summer while I was staying at the adjacent hotel and let me tell you this is no ordinary hotel food. Unlike many places that I've been to on the properties of hotel's I'm staying at this place was clean, the service was excellent, and the food was out of this world. While everything on the menu sounded good I went with the 12hr pulled pork sandwich and was very pleased with it. Also be sure to try "Auntie Mariam's Flourless Chocolate Cake" for dessert, it's the dessert that every chocoholic's been looking for but has never found.
