Just went for my brother-in-law's and my birthday last night and I loved it! They are pretty strict with their food and beverage rules, but as long as you play by them they are very accommodating and nice. I was a little concerned when they didn't allow my water bottle in and I had to buy one, but they simply kept it up front and then didn't charge me for the water I ordered! They also gave us both free shots for our birthdays which was really nice! The rooms are nice and clean and I was digging the mood lighting and disco ball. They were quick with the service of drinks and food, and answered our questions about the remote many times. The guy there even helped me search for a Korean band since I don't actually know Korean. The English music selection is pretty decent, could use some new updates but definitely not terrible. It's got most of your classic karaoke songs. The Korean selection is amazing, wish I knew how to look up my songs more efficiently but that pretty much comes with the territory if you just don't know Korean haha. I mean, they had brand new singles that came out just a couple weeks ago... Impressive. It can get a little pricey if you're in a larger room with less people (our 10 person room was $25/hr) so definitely fill up the space in there to keep the price down per person. They also charge per 15 minutes until the hour so you don't have to pay for a full hour if you didn't use it all. Overall I had a great time and the staff and experience were awesome. Will definitely be back!

Love this place! It looks a little abandoned from the outside because it's so dark and you can't see inside, but don't let it scare you. The inside is really cool and clean! This is Asian style karaoke which allows you to sing with your friends in a private room and charges you by the hour. The rooms are kind of like singing in your living room, with comfy couches, a coffee table, and the TV. For 4 of us, it was $20 an hour. Not sure what the rate is for more people since they would have to put you in a bigger room. The staff was super friendly and helpful in teaching us how to use the equipment since everything is in Korean. They have all kinds of songs and a good selection of English classics. The only rule they have is that you cannot bring outside alcohol and they checked our purses but they do have a menu of drinks and appetizers! My friends and I had a super fun time. 2 hours for us flew by! Will definitely be coming back!

The staff here are as friendly as can be. They will split your bill any number of ways you need and they are fast with food and drinks. Their drinks might not be the best or the widest selection, and they might not have all the best karaoke songs, but they're the only Asian Karaoke place that I know of, and that consistently is a fun place to be.

I love this place!! Been here many many times! It's not your typical, "sing in front of a crowd" joint. You get your own private room and you and your tone deaf friends can sing your hearts out in your own privacy without any booing. Most everything is in Korean, but if you don't know what you're doing, just ask. The staff sets you up and doesn't bother you unless you need something. There is a gentleman there though, not sure of his name. Probably in his mid 30's, sweet and ever so accommodating. The menu is Limited to "Korean late night snacks" so I suggest you have dinner first. The food is decent. We usually come here after dinner and drinks to sing and drink some more. There's a whole book of songs to choose from. Half in Korean and a bunch in English. The only complaint I have is that songs are listed by song title, not artist. But this is common practice in all Korean karaoke bars, so I can't really blame them. Also, any alcohol must be purchased here. You aren't able to bring your own. Prices are a bit steep, but whatever. They give you free snacks and water so it balances out. If you've never been, check them out. You'll enjoy it. We always do!

Still love this place! Just went for my bday yesterday and I was happy to see that they are paying attention to reviews on Yelp to make their business better! They have a clear policy on byob to negate further issues that numerous folks from one group made sure to report on here. *eye roll* They also have started purchasing new songs as well, which was great! Can't wait to see more new ones show up! Only thing I'd personally like to see improved is a "happy hour" of karaoke. Like have the first few hours of being open be less expensive. Also a message on the phone line with hours and pricing would be great. Hope to come back before my next birthday!

Ahhh yes, the wonders of asian-style karaoke~ STORY TIME! (skip down for the actual review) I had my karaoke cherry busted at the tender age of 16 in Taiwan. Young and naive, I entered in Seal's Kissed by a Rose despite the doubtingly raised eyebrow of my friend. I can still remember with brutal clarity the desperation that mounted all the way up to the chorus. Was this song always so hard to sing? Probably. Was I ruining the best part of Batman Forever? Definitely. Still, I labored on, my once loud voice squeaking into a shameful whisper. What felt like a Special Extended Director's Cut Edition version of the song later, the song ended, but the memory haunts me even 13 years later. I've since raised my singing level to "competent (most of the time)" thanks to a multiyear pilgrimage to Japan. More of an addict than a connoisseur, I'd sing just about anywhere, but I'm glad I have the option of Family Karaoke ACTUAL REVIEW! Family Karaoke is the best place in Denver to get your asian karaoke fix. For the uninitiated this means you get your own room (including disco light, tambourines, and completely bizarre asynchronous music videos) to sing whatever you want with only your peers to judge you. It's a blast with the right group, and I highly recommend you try it at least once if you never have before. In spite of the four star review, most of their offerings are fairly average. The rooms are more than serviceable, particularly in the dim light. Food and beverages? Not too shabby! Song selection wants some improvement, but this is coming from somebody who goes a couple times a year. So why the strong review? The karaoke experience is all about hanging out with your friends and belting out your favorite songs, a pastime that FK enables handily. There's just enough depth in the music for there to be something for everybody. When you boil it down, very little is necessary for an ideal karaoke experience, and Family just so happens to push the right buttons.

I used to do Korean Karaoke when I lived in NYC, and I was trying to find a similar place here in Colorado. Family Karaoke is it! We just celebrated by birthday there last night with a small group of friends, and we had a great time. I'm actually really surprised at the currently-three-star rating on Yelp. I had no problem with the establishment. I called earlier in the day to make a reservation, and although the folks I spoke with didn't speak perfect English, I had no trouble getting a time. When we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (you may need a little tutorial since the Karaoke remote controls are in Korean). If you've never tried this style of Karaoke, you owe it to yourself. There's nothing like having a personal Karaoke lounge with your friends. It makes for a very memorable evening!

Owner was clearly drunk when we were leaving, tried to smash a bottle on the ground in front of everyone, and his grandma pushed me while yelling at us in Korean. Not recommended. Edit - I have multiple witnesses that saw that older lady push me. She then later pushed one of the girls in our group. That's assault. If you want to call me a liar, go ahead. We know what happened. If that's the way you want to run a business, you should just quit before something bad happens to a customer on your account. Physical contact should never be tolerated, and you should be ashamed of yourselves. No established business would ever allow such behavior on their premise.

According to the owners response, obviously we were over charged for the 15 minutes we were there. And yes, we left willingly because we were REQUIRED to let you confinscate our personal belongings before we could even start... which was beyond outrageous. I'm not sure who you spoke to but it certainly was not any one of the three of us. Good luck and I truly wish your company the viability it deserves.

I've been coming here for over 3 years because we love going with a group of close friends and it's the only place that have private rooms. We came last week for my birthday with a group of 20 and we had a blast. The large room has four love seats and a large coffee table. The room also allowed room for dancing. Prices for beer was reasonable and better than bar price. Overall the owners were really nice and attentive to our needs. They even gave me a couple rounds of shots and free bottled water! We will definitely be coming here again. The only con I have is that they could add newer songs and more English music, and that's only reason I gave it 4 stars otherwise would be 5.

I like Family Karaoke, mainly because it reminds me of the other Korean karaoke places I used to frequent back in northern Virginia. For a rate of $25/hour, 8-9 people in one room for two hours equates a fun and relatively cheap time for singing and drinking. I've been here twice with groups of 5 or more and both times I was satisfied. Unlike some other karaoke places, Family Karaoke provides songbooks for different languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese.... If you are expecting the newest hits, then be forewarned: these songbooks have the newest hits from Japan and Korea, but not so much from the U.S. Apparently all the songs in Chinese are old traditional songs. Now, if you can accept the above fact, then you'll have fun here. $25/hour per room is an average rate for most Asian karaoke in the U.S. It's actually on the cheaper side; I've been to places in SF and in northern VA where the prices went from $30-$45 per hour. Downside for me? Family Karaoke is all the way out in Aurora and I'm currently car-less by choice. So...if I want to go to Family Karaoke, I have to make sure I go with friends who have cars. ;)

First of all if you speak Korean you have a leg up on other patrons. The rooms are spacious and seemingly clean with comfortable couches. The songs range from typical to pretty recent. They don't have everything (no country songs!, no rap!) and most of their english stuff is pop. They do have more than Korean and English (japanese for instance) if you need to sing something like that. Flashing red and green lights are barely noticable and in the background unlike some places I've been to in Korea, which is nice. The program also rates you on your singing skills at the end so be prepared to be graded. You can skip it by pressing stop and starting your next song immediately. Saves time too. I think its $10 an hour-ish at the moment. Not bad.

I love it here. Way better than DJ's. So much fun. My only complaint is the cost of food, but as long as you order a few drinks, they don't mind if you bring your own food. Well at least they don't with my friends and I. I recommend that you tell your group to bring plenty of 5 and 1 dollar bills to make sharing the bill easy. They hate having to split the bill with credit cards. Also, your Korean does not need to be perfect. I went with a group of friends, none of which can speak it fluently, and we all seemed to manage just fine. I wish there was a Denver location. Hate having to drive out to Aurora. They would make a killing in Cap Hill.

This is going to sound like a textbook review. I was impressed with the place, but not impressed enough to rave about it. Family Karaoke is the newest NRB in town. Karaoke (NRB) is a big deal in Korea. It's when people bond and get to know each other through the act of self expression. Family Karaoke is a Korean owned establishment featuring innovative equipment (i.e. flat screen TV's, comfortable seats, disco balls) in each individual room. Though I really think that now a days these are the industry standards, I can't help but be excited about this place. The prices are fair... no more than the competition, I think. I remember out group paid around $25/hour for a big room. The song lists are updated and features a variety of new Korean pop, Japanese, Chinese and American repertoire. I don't know whether they have a Happy Hour special going on during certain hours (but if they do, that'd be awesome). They are located next to Q-Billiards... near H Mart. Open 7 days a week.
