I dropped by there yesterday to pick up a few treats. I didn't realize that most of their business is done by pre-orders and they did not have much of a selection on hand. no worries they did have three cupcakes (chocolate, vanilla, and carrot cake) for $1.50 a piece. I thought to myself ...."What a bargain!" I got one of each and headed home. Now for that price I wasn't expecting much. Truthfully, I expected the cake to be dry (as is the case with many of the cupcake shops around town). Boy was I surprised. The cake was moist and delicious, and there was a perfect amount of frosting (not too much). I tried both the chocolate and vanilla, but did not get to try the carrot cake. This just might be my cake place from now on. Thanks!!!

The birthday cake I ordered was delicious. The cake was moist and the filling and icing were good too. It probably could have used a bit more filling, but I would mention that the next time I order. Very nicely decorated. I tried Cakes by Karen because Child's was such a disappointment when I ordered there recently. This was a nice surprise.

I agree with Shannon S of Aurora, CO. Just had a graduation party for our son yesterday (5/23) and we ordered 2 tier chocolate and white cake, the chocolate cake that we ordered was crumbling as soon as we cut it. It almost tasted like box cake that my daughter usually makes and we wondered if it is. We paid extra money for the fondant as well and it was a very terrible job on the graduation cap part. The gal told us the tassel that the cake decorator made was too long and it broke off even before we picked it up and they tried to glue it as well as they can but as soon as we got home the tassel broke off again. We asked for a gold fondant ribbon around the cake, instead they put a cheap fabric gold ribbon. Less than an hour after we put the cake on the table, the graduation cap fondant cake started to droop down on its side so we had to put it back to the refrigerator, but the damage was done. Very disappointing since first of all the cake was very expensive to begin with and we paid extra $ for the fondant. Would never order from them again.

Two Cake Orders and Two Successes!!! I like Cakes by Karen because they are prompt and can handle any situation given 24 hours. I like Childs Bakery also, but Cakes by Karen pays more attention to detail when you tell them what you want on the cake. Also Groupon does WORK at this location, you must follow the instructions properly!!!! In Aurora, this is the BEST bakery for cupcakes, cakes, and you can ask for special pastries by request...give them a couple more days for things not on the menu!!! It is also important to be specific on type of cake, filling, size, and design as to get exactly what you want.

This review is solely about their Groupon redemption and not the pastries. I bought a Groupon for this place and I did not read the instructions. I needed to call in my order ahead of time, which is ok and not the reason I'm giving this place only one star. When I went to the actual store (where I was politely informed that I needed to order my Groupon cupcakes), I was also informed that I would need to print my Groupon in order to use it when I picked up my order. I do not print out Groupon's. I have a smart phone which I have used for all the other Groupon's I have bought and redeemed this far. The instructions fir this deal state: Starting 12/26/11, pull up Groupon with our mobile app (or print it out)...Present Groupon upon arrival. Enjoy. Unfortunately this establishment requires the Groupon to be printed out, before enjoying and I don't have a printer an am opposed to printing something that can be done electronically. I will be contacting Groupon to get a refund and to rort this business for not following Groupon's terms.

Cakes by Karen did a wonderful job with our wedding cake with a reasonable price. We went through Susie at the Buckley location. Susie was wonderful and so detailed with our order. The only thing that concerned me was when a couple came in and had a horrible wedding cake experience while I was there dropping off our topper. Later that day I called the main location to verify all the details about our cake a few days before our wedding. It was a beautiful cake!!! Couldn't be happier!!!

These guys alway do a great job. Purchased many cakes over the years for birthdays. The cake I had them do for my son's first birthday was wonderful! They are always on time and go out of their way to listen to our requests.

Never again will I order from them had a cake getting made for my man..it was messed all up once I came to pick it up..and then on top of that it was not the way I said I wanted it..they did it how they wanted it ...they did offer me money off but my man did not like the cake it was a waste of money ........if anyone know of another place that make good adult cakes can you please let me know. ...thanks

Amazing! I'm not a big cake-lover, but it was our daughter's birthday and she had her heart set on an Elsa cake. To top it off, one of our friends has dairy-free needs. This location was the 10th place I called. They not only delivered exactly what I asked for -- a dairy-free Elsa cake -- but it was the best tasting cake I've ever had. Unbelievable! Fantastic customer service and fabulous cake...what else could you ask for??

I can't say enough good things about Cakes by Karen. I ordered cupcakes for a special 20th anniversary party at work. Karen herself answered the phone on my first call, on Saturday during Memorial Day weekend and let me know they could take my order, even at the last minute. I called back Tuesday morning and placed the order with Susan in the Aurora bakery. Wednesday morning they delivered 75 beautiful delicious cupcakes in assorted flavors. The cake was light and fluffy, the icing was creamy, the cupcakes were nicely decorated. I will definitely be ordering more cakes from Karen and crew!

Totally botched my wedding cake. Originally I wanted an off white cake. As brides do I changed my mind, I called the business and explained to them that the whole cake should be white not the original off white that I had requested at the first appointment. I get to my wedding reception in my white dress and see the cake and it is OFF WHITE. I played it off to my guests. So, the next week I call them and tell them that they messed up the color of my cake and they offered me a free order of cupcakes... YEAH NO THANKS KAREN! I haven't ordered anything from this place since. Terrible customer service!!!!!
