Had a wonderful meal and experience from the moment I stepped in the door. Went to the private club after and very nice ending to the night. Burrata and Tomato salad, wow....

Is it possible that the Saturday night menu has higher prices than the menu during the week? They certainly are high, in any event, especially in light of the fact that the portions are so tiny. The pasta dishes are appetizer sized but at $20 and up they should not be. The wine list should have many more reasonably priced wines. Fifty dollars a bottle for an adequate but not great wine is not acceptable. We understand that restaurants like to make a healthy profit on wine and other drinks, but there should be at least a dozen forty dollar bottles, such as Dolcettos and Chiantis. The sommelier is very good; the ambiance is terrific; the location is great and probably expensive to rent. The bread for the table is mediocre. You have to ask for a green salad; they don't offer it on the menu. Food in Aspen is not great, except Japanese (why is that?), so by Aspen standards this restaurant is perhaps four stars.

Fantastic evening!! I will come back for the Original burrata marinated baby tomatoes alone.... simply incredible. Food, atmosphere, decor, style. 100% score for this newer establishment in Aspen CO.

Amazing restaurant. Goce our server was great and the sommelier Justin was fab! Fav spot in Aspen. Patio setting was just beautiful. Food was fantastic and dessert even better! Perfect staff and friendly place.

There is one thing that tasty food can not make up for and that is haughty service. We were made to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time because the hostess sat a walk in group at the table reserved for our party. The manager told us that it is a natural thing to have to wait past the reservation time. Even the bartender was dismissive.

The only reason i did not rate this place a one star is the ambience. This is a very classy place but the food was bad to average. For the price this place should have tastier food. If you can survive on ambience this is the perfect eatery. If not take a pass on this place especially if taste is a factor in what you consume!

Excellent! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Aspen! We started with the Buratta and organic tomatoes and basil (perfect dish - and how they manage to get such delicious tomatoes in February I'll never know). Next up, Tagliatelle alla 'bolognese del borgo' for me - three different meats combined to make the perfect bolognese (I ate every bite) and the Oso Bucco for my husband (he also cleaned his plate . . . the meat was so flavorful and tender). Passable bread and breadsticks - if the bread were any indication of how good the rest of the meal was going to be - then I would have been concerned. This is truly the only reason I withheld the 5th star (and I feel nit-picky for doing so - since it's free - but I truly feel they could do a lot better). For dessert, although we were actually full, we shared a scoop of gelato . . . delicious and well worth the calories - thank goodness we had a nice walk back to our hotel (The Limelight)! I've seen some average reviews or complaints about prices on this site for Casa Tua and I'm baffled as to why. The service, food and ambience were all excellent and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. I felt their prices were absolutely fair given the portions and how delicious the food was . . . so anyone on this site complaining about the prices would be appalled at how much we spent at a restaurant I will not name, which was not even half as good as Casa Tua (and 1.5 times the price of our meal at Casa Tua). To the restaurant: Excellent meal . . . a winner! :)

I am a frequent visitor to Aspen, at this place was too hyped up! The atmosphere is great, but the service was horrible. I wasn't asked if I would like another cocktail. A member of our party, sat down 5 minutes after the rest of us and was not asked if they would like a drink. The soup of the evening was awful, and each plate took forever to get out to the table. Let me put it into perspective for you. - 4 people in our party - 1 appetizer for the table shared - 1 bowl of over priced soup for one member - 3 cocktails (one was made incorrectly) - 2 main dishes - 1 main dish split between two people We were there for 2 1/2 hours Waste of time. Overpriced. Poor service. My recommendation... Take some lessons for some great Chicago restaurants, I'm sure you'll be in business longer if you do!

An exquisite dining & private club experience in Aspen. Unlike the Caribou Club which is hidden underground, dark & reminiscent of a hunting lodge, Casa Tua has a large 2 floor, art-filled, sexy & chic atmosphere. Immerse yourself in the gorgeous dining room, communal table or adjacent patio where you can enjoy al fresco Italian inspired cuisine. After you relish in the delicate and tastefully presented food, head upstairs for a glass of prosecco or a cocktail by the bar, outside on the patio or by the fire in winter. Get inspired by all the B&W sensual photographs that line the walls. Kick your heels up to great music by the house DJ and meet some new friends....you never know who will be upstairs mingling. It's always a good time at CT. If you need extra special attention, seek out Clay the Maitre d'...his attention to detail is superior. Thanks Casa Tua for a great summer 2011!!!

I am not the biggest fan of Casatua Miami. However, the new Aspen location was a wonderful surprise. The crowd is more relaxed and the decor made for a perfect evening.

Went to Casa Tua with a group of five. We were sat promptly. The location and decor is great. Zero complaints (although it did become a bit loud). So why 3 stars: simple - the portions are tiny. Literally, you do need to order an appetizer, primi and secondi to fill you up. We ordered a pasta for an appetizer and I thought they had brought the appetizer portion - I was wrong. The same size portion came with our second pasta for our main course. Secondi (ie meats) are served without much extra. We had the Osso Bucco and it was just that - a piece of Osso Bucco. It did not come with much else. Small portions for outrageous prices won't necessarily kill a place (especially in Aspen), however, if the food is superb. It wasn't. Flavors were fine but hardly worth the cost. Worse, most of our dishes came out luke warm. Desert was great and service was fine (i.e. what you would expect at a place like this but hardly noteworthy).

The food quality and service is very good. That said, there is a pretentiousness that now pervades this place. Our hungry party of 5 guys (who have been directly involved in developing integrated resorts around the globe with some of the world's most renowned chefs and restauranteurs) have eaten at Casa Tua 3 or 4 times in the past. It seems that the departure of General Manager, Christiano has led to a big decline in the overall experience. We were seated near the entrance of the restaurant. Due to a draft coming in from either the front door or behind some curtained off area inside the restaurant, we felt ilke we hadn't come in from the cold. We were told that it was because there was a private party in the restaurant and the guests were entering from a side door that was opening frequently. To Casa Tua's credit, they eventually offered to move us and we did not hesitate to take them up on that offer. Now for the food. Bottom line, we left hungry, aggravated and feeling like we were taken advantage of. The portions are "small plates" at full price. The Red Snapper ($36) was litterally the size 2 match book covers. The pastas were great but pasta is one of the cheapest things to make in a restaurant. They need to step it up...a lot.

We recently had dinner there for the first time and the experience was so good that we returned a few days later for lunch with family members. The ambiance is modern, open and light which we really liked. The location is right where the action is and people eating outside can interact with those they know as they walk by, which we saw people doing. The food is interesting and every dish was excellent, especially the burrata and the house made pasta dishes. Our waiter was exceptional for lunch, for dinner the waiter was adequate. I know others have said this place is pricey and the service not up to par. It is pricey but we found it worth it. Overall we give high marks for service even if not the highest. We are from San Francisco and have been coming to Aspen for 30 years as we have family here.

Very average restaurant, mediocre service and over priced. The selection is ordinary, the serving size inadequate for the price, and the wait staff is neither knowledgeable not engaging. There are many good and several great restaurants in Aspen. Enjoy one of those and pass on Casa Tua.

This is a private club / public restaurant. If you are a member of the club or show them you are willing to spend money, you will get the best service around. If you are just a normal patron you will be subjected to an overpriced crapshoot that will last 2+ hours. We had almost everything on the menu The food ranges from OK-Very Good depending on what you order. Some of the things they do are amazing, like the Fehttuchini with black truffle and mushroom. But some of the things they do make zero sense or come off as if the Chef just came up with an idea without tasting it. For example, we ordered rack of lamb. Meat was just amazing but they dressed it with mint extract which got all over it and completely ruined the food. If you have never tasted mint extract, I can only explain it as that it would be the equivalent to putting toothpaste on your food. Not sure how anyone in their right mind would find that satisfactory. Bottom line is that this is going to always be an inconsistent trend restaurant that seems a little self absorbed. More of a production then a nice dining experience. But that may be good for you.

As any good restaurant in Aspen, you better make advance reservations. I love Casa Tua! Perfect location in Downtown Aspen close to Ajax and a small walk from the Hyatt Grand Aspen. The food is delicious. Small portions, the Menu suggests 2-3 courses per person. Good to great service. I will definitely come back!

Great place for dinner and great private upstairs club for a larger party. Food is consistent, I've had a lot of the fish, the pastas are excellent too. Mushroom linguini and Bronzino are the favorites! Portions are small, but filling. Best Italian in Aspen!

Had a great dinner here last week to celebrate a special occasion. Hostess and manager were very accommodating when our party of 4 asked to be moved to the main dining room. Halibut, Branzino and Salmon were all extremely good and the Tagliatelle Bolognese was a great start. But the best part of the evening was our waiter Max from Croatia. What an amazing guy who made the night special with cooking recs/recipes and stories from back home. We were on the lower side of the totem pole of spending in there, yet he still treated us like we were private members buying $500 bottles of wine. Great guy, great restaurant...

My first trip to aspen and I ran into this place. Can't find a place with such good service! Told them it was my wedding anniversary, they brought out 2 glasses of free champagne, an appetizer on the house and the desert had a chocolate note to us. The people are friendly and the steak and salmon was cooked perfect! The atmosphere is very romantic a good place for a date.

Had yummy mushroom risotto and mushroom fettuccine. Salman appetizer was tasty. Portions were of average size so you didn't feel stuffed when you left. Enjoyed a nice glass of wine off the wine list. Will be back this Christmas to enjoy the restaurant again.

The only reason Casa Tua Aspen is not receiving 5 stars is because the waiter we had was terrible! He was rushing us the entire time! However, the food was wonderful and so was the ambiance. We ordered the tuna tar tar, carrot soup, fettuccine with mushrooms and truffles and carrot cake :)

I guess you have to be young and tall and thin here. I seemed to be invisible to the cute, but mouth breather, bartender and snooty bar maid. Once I got some pasta it was delicious but no parm and had to ask for bread also good but no butter or oil. I liked the upbeat atmosphere but found the clientele even snootier than the bar maid.

The name Casa Tua evokes settings of a stunning and petite restaurant in Miami with a breathtaking courtyard, superb service and wonderful food. Casa Tua Aspen does have a beautiful setting. Dim lighting and modern, sexy art lines the walls. There are perfect roses atop each table in deep crimson red. But, there was a little something left to be desired. We ate here on a very quite Monday in mid December. There was only one other table in the restaurant. A mixed bread basket came out with bread sticks, olive rolls and foccacia. They also brought out a complimentary amuse bouche of polenta with truffle oil and mushrooms. Service was more then friendly and very helpful when it came time to order. The reason I am only giving this 3 stars is due to the food. It all fell a little flat. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't special. I've been to Casa Tua in Miami several times and always been incredibly impressed with the pastas and the entrees. I've had items like quail and rabbit, both impeccably cooked. I was most disappointed to see only a few local dishes on the menu. Apart from the veal and lamb, all other items were from far off. Very few (if any) items on the menu seemed seasonally inspired. I had the ricotta cavatelli as well as the dover sole, the bolognese, the beet salad and the veal. We ate family style. The veal was probably the most impressive although it could have been a bit warmer and had more sauce. The dover sole was lacking in flavor and the the cavatelli was a clean and simple pasta that I did enjoy. If you are looking for a wonderful setting, this is your place. Food may not wow you, but it's definitely edible. I was just looking to be romanced, the way I had been in Miami. Oh well... Another time perhaps.

This is the first review I've ever written on Yelp despite using it a good amount. If you want to go to the most pretentious restaurant imaginable, go to Casa Tua. You would have thought we had the plague based on how we were treated by all of the staff here Saturday night. We made a reservation and were seated, given menus, and not paid attention to for the next 20 minutes. Several members of the waitstaff including (I think ) the manager walked past us several times and didn't come to even take our drink order. We were ever seated by the hostess stand so it was apparent that we hadn't been attended to in a while by at least the hostess. We ended up walking out, past the hostess, and no one said anything to us. Don't waste your time at this restaurant unless you appear to have tons of cash.

Very good food but very overpriced! I had the tortellini entree and literally took 5 bites to clean plate for $30. Same with octopus appetizer that was like $25. Great outdoor seating though.

Mistake happen. That is part of life. The kitchen missed my order...oh well. But when the kitchen tries to short cut the dish to fix it (twice) such that you can see - and taste - that they've done just that, then we are getting ridiculous. But, the real treat was perhaps the most insincere apology from the manager...who graciously offered to not charge me for the meal I wouldn't be eating!!

FOOD - If you've been on a hunger strike for a couple of weeks, then Casa Tua is the place for you...you'll eat anything. The portions of food were fine. Not too big, not too small. However, the pasta was very bland and left a lot to be desired. LOCATION - Brimming with patrons and boasting a convenient location, in the middle of downtown Aspen, we decided to try CT. The group wanted to eat there, so we did. The assumption was that there were a lot of people there, so it must be good. We sat outside on a cool evening next to heat lamps. This was fine. SERVICE - The hostess and waitstaff treated us like a necessary evil. I thought the staff might be performing an Italian strike. Overall, the best part of CT was the location. The food and service need improvement.

I was in Aspen for the Food & Wine Classic. There are only so many meals one can have a day and I took a lot of care in determining which restaurants to try. Friday night I went to Casa Tua and they sat me at their bar outside which was perfect. The ambiance was great. Then 15 minutes passed.... ...finally the bartender gave me a menu. Then another period of time passed... you get the point...it was bloody SLOW. The food itself was better than average but definitely not worth the wait. The price was pretty much on par with what you will find around Aspen. A local told me they just opened the back bar so maybe (hopefully) that is what was going on here. I'll be back next year and might try again if other yelpers between now and then disagree with my experience.

Awesome place, nothing like the Miami, well it's newer and in a ski resort. Met the owner who himself has moved to Aspen, so that explains the fact it's for sale in Miami. We were with a friend upstairs, so the private part. Design - super cool, cozy but moder ski chalet with modern art. Food is the same as Miami, so small portions and $$$. Still the over all experience is pretty great! Terrace and outdoor bar are cozy and sexy.

So good and such a nice atmosphere but I would compare it to cache cache as far as the ambiance is concerned. As good as the food was for the dinner party we attended there earlier in the summer, it was equally as good this time. I will come back and while it may be more expensive than some of the others, I think the food makes it worth it. Staff was great and management was nice.

With complete respect to the reviewers before me, if you're wanting huge portions for your money, I recommend Golden Corral. Casa Tua makes fine dining relatively accessible. Yes, it's slightly pricey, but the prix fixe menu can keep dining for two well under $200 with gratuity. A stretch for some (including me), but if you love really great food, I can assure you it's worth the splurge for a special occasion. For the quality of the experience, I feel like the price was an incredible deal. The service was fantastic. The food was exquisite. And yes, the portions are small, but I'm not a small guy and I left feeling fully satisfied. European palates will be satisfied. This poor kid from rural Ohio felt like he was eating like a king.

Let me premise this review by saying that the critique might seem picky to some, but ones expectations at olive garden vs. Casa Tua are worlds apart. We were a party of 6 on a Tuesday night. Our table was ready and waiting. When we entered the restaurant, there was an overwhelmingly bad smell that we could only guess was sewage. Possibly a broken pipe? The smell was strongest in the basement where the restrooms were. One restroom was marked out of order. So, I get that pipes break but when we asked the staff what the offending odor was, they denied any bad smell. Very puzzling. After being seated, we waited over 10 minutes before the server approached the table. She launched right into listing their specials before taking any drink orders. Kind of odd, but we will let that slide. Next, a guest in our party asked for a black napkin (instead of white) to avoid the little flecks of lint that can cling to black pants. The server checked, and reported there were no black napkins to be had. Ok. Finally we get down to the food. The tuna tartare was exceedingly salty. Beet salad was completely unmemorable. We ordered the Buratta and asked for prosciutto to be added to the dish. They added a healthy portion (best part of the entire meal) and laid it on the table. We asked twice for basalmic vinegar for the beet salad and most importantly the Buratta and prosciutto platter. First they brought a bowl of olive oil with a few drops of basalmic in the bottom. I then asked again for plain old aged basalmic vinegar. I was brought a small dish with about a tablespoon of basalmic reduction that had some other seasoning that significantly altered the taste. Again, not what we asked for. After asking a third time, we were told the restaurant had no basalmic whatsoever. Very strange for a high end Italian restaurant. Without basalmic, what was their reduction made from? Maybe it came in a pastic jar from Sysco? Ok, I'll let that go too. Pastas came next. Linguini with mushroom was the least offensive of the lot. You can tell the pasta is fresh and it had a nice texture, but the fun stops there. The saltiness was overwhelming. The bolognese was marginal at best and also salty. The risotto was salty as well. After the appetizers our friendly waitress spilled a glass of water on one of our guests. Accidents happen, I understand, but would have been better to aim for our mouths. We ordered more water. Finally, the entrees arrived. Roast chicken was alright. Lamb chops were salty and a very fatty cut. Osso bucco was the biggest disappointment of the night. The meat was chewy, fatty, and salty. Not at all the melt in your mouth dish one expects at the very best Italian restaurants. We skipped dessert and headed out the door. For almost $900, we had expected much more. Of all the fabulous meals we have had in Aspen (Su Casa, hotel Jerome, Matsuhisha) this was our only disappointment.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
