I just moved to Arvada which, after spending the last 3 years living in the center of Denver, has been quite the culture shock/ adjustment. Craving a little taste of nightlife, I decided to go to Jake's the other night, which is just down the street from my new place. I walked in and saddled up to the bar ordered the Sam Adams summer seasonal (btw, not a bad summer beer) and started checking the place out. At first glance, it looks to be a standard suburbs bar. A little divey, but still clean. The bartender that night was very friendly and organized. From what I can tell, she was the only one working and she had everyone in there served within minutes. I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger and was not disappointed. It was really good! What really made this bar a great experience was the crowd, which, at first glance, you might think was a standard bar crowd, but they were incredibly friendly. Within 10 minutes I was having a conversation with someone and after an hour, I was up singing karaoke. In short, I went in for dinner and a beer and ended up staying for four hours having a great time with new friends. I'm a firm believer that a restaurant/bar takes on the vibe that its owner gives off, so the owners of this place must be some awesome, friendly people. I can't wait for summers on their patio!

I love Jake's Roadhouse! I stopped there one night after I had a friend over, because it is in walking distance and I wanted to check it out! The first night was interesting, there was a band, reminded me of Joe Cocker, it was loud, there were pool tables, a nice bar, an outside area to eat and drink. We were hungry and thought we could grab a bite to eat. Surprisingly the staff was so nice. we got food, there was a biker party going on. That was fun. We were taken care of. I went there another night, it was much later, there were a few people there, I sat and talked to the bartender for awhile I have to say he is really a nice guy. I am new here getting to know my surroundings. The last time I was there I went after a show. I have to say I was a little down, the typical bar story. I went over to see if they were still open because it was so late. I just wasn't ready to go home. There was seven other people there, I had a great time talking to new people and getting my mind of parts of the evening I had just had. There really are some of the nicest people I have meet there. Not only that it is close. I like that spot. It may not be for everyone but it is right up my alley!

I went here because of the reviews, and I got out voted. It was a Saturday night and the place was dead. Maybe because it's a holiday weekend, I don't know...but I mean there were less then 10 people in there. Ordered the tacos because we wanted an "appetizer" and their appetizer menu had nothing on it that I wanted. The soft tacos were huge and fairly good. Not bad for $4.50. The band was awful. I called ahead of time to see who was playing, and they said it would be rock and roll. It was not rock and roll and they did mostly instrumentals. So we waited 2 hours for the band and a good time and ended up leaving after about 4 "songs." Maybe it's better on a night when they have a decent band? I don't know, but I will be hard pressed to return.

Jakes Roadhouse is a good time. All the staff including Doug the owner, are very friendly. I used to play pin ball all the time at Jakes. And for a quite a while, held the high score. Unfortunately, I moved about 50 miles from Jakes and haven't been back in a while.

This is definitely a dive bar, but not in a bad way...kinda. Of course I'll explain. The decor is a little bit of a throwback to the 50s. Red and black checkered floors. Booths surrounding the main sitting area that are raised. Posters of James Dean, Elvis, Sinatra, and Marilyn are scattered throughout. But then weird drawings of fantasy ladies hang behind the stage. Huh? Also, the ladies restroom freaked me out a little. It was super clean, especially compared to other dive bars. It's just that the first time I walked in, I jumped. I got the sense that the ceiling was super tall. Then I saw movement above...yes, the ceiling is one giant mirror. Kind of ick, especially since I could see everything on the shelves that was above eye level. Nothing nasty, just one of those "your slip is showing" kind of moments. They were using the shelves for "out of sight" storage. There is an outdoor patio, food area to the side of the roadhouse. You have to walk past the bathrooms to get to it, but the area itself is nice and inviting...unless it is freezing cold outside. Yes, but how is it a dive bar? It definitely has a roadhouse feel to it; there are a few bikers that hang out here. In fact, in keeping with their stereotype, there was a knife fight in the parking lot. I was a little disappointed that I missed "the emptying of the bar." I was in the aforementioned bathroom; I came back out to an empty bar, save my friends and the bartender. Hey, there's always next time.

Stopped last night bar staff was good, kitchen staff was not so good, it took over an hour and a half to get food and when he brought it out he took it to the wrong table so we paid for our drinks and went to another bar for drinks and food, definitely will not go back

Friendly local bar. Music was good but could use a dance floor.
