Not bad by any means but it is pretty pricy and to heck and gone out in the North burbs - also odd hours (check before your schlepp out there). Went with a couple of friends for one friend's birthday. This is his favorite place, mainly for the liver dumpling soup which someone else mentioned. It isn't everyones' cup of tea but we loved it. That's about where the love changed to like. First of all the place is God's waiting room - think 60+ and there is a definite early bird crowd vibe to the place complete with the polka soundtrack blaring. Fairly typical German/Czech menu. We all had some variation of the schnitzel. Fine and dandy as it should be for $20 something bucks. Skip the very oddly sweet gravy and just go with a spritz of lemon. Not so impressed with the sides - especially the red cabbage which was a really radioactive redish pink and much too sweet. Potato pancakes not crisp enough. Some good German brews to wash it down with though. Dessert was forgettable - pedestrian strudel with spray can whipped topping - meh. The place is clean as a pin and the service was pleasant although we were seated close to the kitchen and got to know way more about the staffs' personal plans for the evening than we really needed to know. So, all in all it truly is A-OK but that's about it. At $100+ for the three of us, I don't think I'll be rushing back. I have to say that it was a lot better than our last visit to Cafe Berlin though if this is the kind of food you are craving. Better on a cold winter day than a hot summer one.

Excellent. Delicious. Authentic. Very good service. Reasonable price. Nice selection of imported beer on tap. Had the Paulaner Oktoberfest - delicious amber beer. Soup comes with the entree which is nice. Had the liver dumpling soup. Very flavorful and hearty without a strong liver flavor. For entree had the pork hungarian goulash with spaetzle and red cabbage. I loved all of it. Will definitely come back when I am in town.

This is a hidden gem! If you like german food, do not miss out. Everything is made from scratch, the bratwurst are like any other I've ever had!! The potato pancakes are sooo good and fluffy, and everything comes in a big serving size. You will most likely leave with with yummy leftovers

I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. A true German restaurant with the food to prove it. I always order the Jager Schnitzel. A delicious pork tenderloin pounded flat seasoned and fried. Served with a wonderful gravy, You have your choice of sides and I always get the German potato salad and the purple cabbage. Great combo. There many other options such as bratwurst, duck, cabbage rolls etc.... Which I have heard that they are all very good. The service here is efficient without all of the bells and whistles. The hours have also been scaled way down so be sure to check before visiting.

Great food and service! Great blend of German, Czek and Polish. So much food, so many taste sensations. I wish it was in my area.

Do I love Sauerkraut and Rotkohl? Yes, I do. And they are both great at Golden Europe. The sauerkraut was sweet and tart. Do I love pig? Yes, I do and my Jägerschnitzel (even though they misspell it as Jager Schnitzel) was so tender that the meat broke up when touched by my fork. Do I love beer? Yes, I do and they have reasonably priced small selection of German beers on tap. Comes in cool glasses/mugs. Daughter and I enjoyed a quiet, relaxing lunch. The service is good (not great). Having your waiter wear a baseball cap in a German restaurant seems a tad weird. Cloth napkins (polyester and not cotton). Average flatware. The decor is lots of knotty pine slapped into a former Pizza Hut. No Wi-Fi. Minus 1 star.

My husband wanted to have German for his birthday. Thankfully because of Yelp we found this place. I had the Jager Schnitzel. It was served with gravy, mushrooms, and lots of onion. I happen to like onion and still couldn't finish all of the onions on here. ALSO HUGE Portions. I only ate half of my dinner. Overall the food was great. It not s pretentious place and very warm and welcoming. Our server was very attentive and helpful answering any questions... thanks for the recommendation of the liver meatball soup. NO regrets. It was delicious. Will be back soon!

Overall we were happy with our experience here. The food was served hot and the beer cold. I got jägerschnitzel and hubby got the bratwurst plate. It's on the pricier side and they have weird policies on the back of their menu that come off a tad aggressive and cheap. I've never actually heard of a place who charges if you ask for more bread. I'm glad we aren't bread people. We'll go back because it's one of the only places who serve Paulaner in the right kind of glass and at the correct temperature!!

Be sure not to eat before you come here for dinner!! In honor of Oktoberfest this weekend...my husband and I came here for dinner. We didnt make reservations but it only took us about 10 minutes to get a table. I was kind of hoping for more of German decor in the restaurant but thats ok..its not that big of a deal breaker but would have been nice. Once we were seating it took a few minutes for our server to come over and get our drink order but once I saw that each server helps each other bus tables I was ok with it. You dont see that kind of team work ANYWHERE!! I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel and my husband ordered the braut plate that comes with German potato salad (sorry cant remember the name. Im not a fan of brauts but it did look good) The Chicken Schnitzel was AMAZING.....huge portion but absolutely wonderful! I havent had better schnitzel. Of course we saved room for dessert!! I am not a fan of apple schroodle but thought since Im pregnant I'll try it again....and boy am I glad I did! My husband and I split the dish...which I recommend...its huge! Came out steaming hot with a delicious side of vanilla ice cream and needless to say it was completely gone in about 10 min. If you are ever in the mood for really good German food and in Arvada or dont mind driving somewhere thats not down the street from your house for dinner....I HIGHLY recommend this place!! I just wish it had a little more of a German decor and played German music. Especially for Oktoberfest. We will definately be back before we move out of state!

Are you kidding me with these Cabbage Rolls???? I'm totally ringing the bell when we leave! Really really good!!

When you leave there is a bell you ring to let the cook know it was good. We totally rang the bell. Very good.

For anyone who as eaten real german food in germany, this place is a huge disappointment. The only thing that tasted like germany was the hefe weizen. I have never had spaetzle I didnt enjoy but the spaetzle here was like some rude imposter. I have made schnitzel on my own in my own kitchen with minimal effort. The schnitzle here was soggy and disgusting. Anyone hoping to try some good german food, skip this place for sure!

So, this is a mixed bag for me. The staff are really friendly and the food was good but not what I am used to.One of the comments made by the owner was that he makes German food but better than Germans make it. Yeah, I don't think so. Everything seemed to have a sweet flavor to me...the potato pancakes, the saurkraut, the potato salad......it was just strange. The Knackwurst was good and the schnitzel was good but it did not make up for the other oddities.

Our family's favorite traditional place. My wife, whose family is of Austrian descent, loves the traditional dishes and home cooked flavor. I love that they have Warsteiner beir.

You know the food is good when your whole German family gives a stamp of approval -- and your Filipino husband with the stomach the size of a small dump truck tells you that he would want this to be his last meal on Earth. This is a review that's long overdue. Golden Europe is the standard to which I hold all other German/Czech restaurants. It's hard to find one that's as good or comes close to rivaling Golden Europe. My mother's side of the family all come from German/Czech/Hungarian/Austrian descent. My great grandfather was actually a cook during WWII (this talent actually kept him alive when he was taken as a prisoner of war) and we have his family recipes that I've never come close to mastering because there are no exact ingredient measurements given for them. I tell you all of this to explain that my family has high standards when it comes to German food. And it's telling that Golden Europe is the place my whole extended family gathers at whenever there's a holiday or special occasion. In fact, it routinely happens that when my immediate family walks in the door, we run into one of our cousins, who happened to stop in too. The food is authentic. The food is delicious. Portions are large, but you find your stomach expands when the food is this good. On the rare occasion when we wouldn't finish these large meals, we'd always take leftovers home. My Opa (my grandpa, who was a man of picky taste) would always plot his plan to find a way to be the lucky man to eat the remnants. The family who owns the restaurant loves to reminisce about their history in Europe. They do more then just take your order. They want to know about you and what your story is. While my Opa and Joe Sr. would swap stories about back home, Joe Jr. keeps us all entertained with tales from his most recent motorcycle tour through the European countryside. Meanwhile, Mom will poke her head out of the kitchen just long enough to say hi. But I've spent too long not talking about food. My go-to is always the wienerschnitzel, with a side of bread dumplings and spatzle. My favorite part is pouring their homemade gravy on top of every carb that's a part of that overload. I also love the chicken paprikosh. It's only available at certain times, but Joe Jr. knows our love for it and will immediately tell us if it's an off-menu option that day. The chicken is cooked so slowly that it falls off the bones within their homemade sauce. Of course, all of it pairs perfectly with a stein of beer.

Friendly service. Food tasted very good, though I wish I would have read the reviews and ordered the soup. The diner salad is very basic, though they do throw in some red cabbage, grape tomatoes, and baby carrots. I ordered the sauerbraten. While it was tasty, I was disappointed that they served sauerbraten in a "sour cream sauce" instead of the more authentic sauce that uses vinegar as the base for the marinade. The red cabbage was delightfully tangy and accompanied the sauerbraten well. Portions were very generous--I ate more than I should have as I wouldn't be able to take any leftovers with me (I was heading out of town). The German potato salad could have used a bit more vinegar as well, but it was a nice side dish nontheless. I neglected to take a picture of it, but I had a very nice apple dessert served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream as well as whipped cream. This was prepared with philo style dough--very flaky. I heard other parties raving about the sausage. I look forward to trying this on my next visit.

Perfect birthday fare tonight; plenty left over to enjoy tomorrow! Thank you Yelp. I'm a Euro-mutt with quite a bit of Polish blood, while my wife is a blend of Czech + German. This doesn't make us experts on the cuisine though we've had bits of it here and there as prepared by our parents, often for special occasions, but I just thought I'd mention it :) Tonight was my birthday and my wife was hoping to go out, while I was feeling more like my homebody self. We tend to obsess when trying to make a dining decision, both "OK with whatever the other person wants," so I retreated to my man cave, went to Yelp.com , and punched in my ZIP code. There it was. For whatever reason we just tried this restaurant for the first time tonight despite being long-time residents of Arvada. We appreciate food of all stripes, from fast food (there's a time and a place) to Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Lebanese, Greek, Mexican, Chinese -- with the varying degrees of authenticity available, for better or worse, being residents of the Denver Metro area. Complex and spicy flavors are what keep us coming back to specific places, and I'll just come out and say that I have a subconscious bias against "Mittel European" food based on the assumption that it's not particularly tantalizing fare in this vein; more of a comfort food and I simply wasn't exposed to the real deal enough to see it that way. I hopped over to their website to check out the menu and was satisfied with the diversity of protein-tastic offerings, especially the Czech and German plates, which appeared to be "buffet in a box" and thus right up my indecisive alley. Being a total dork, I copied and pasted the menu into Microsoft Word, cleaned it up so I'd have a permanent printable copy, and proudly brought it to her to get her order. I could see more than a twinkle in my wife's eye, as she is far more attuned to her Czech heritage, having had a very Czech mother who reinforced the importance of the culture, having visited CZ, having neighbors from CZ, having picked up some of the language over time, etc. She wanted to be 100% sure that I genuinely wanted to try the restaurant, and was not sacrificing my birthday-dinner-selection-rights just to be a nice guy. I was in! She had the cabbage rolls with mushroom sauce, and I had the German plate, complete with duck, bratwurst, and pork schnitzel. As for sides, we covered almost everything except the potato salad: mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sauerkraut, Czech bread dumplings, spaetzel, apple sauce, and fries (just in case the kids were leery). We were extremely satisfied. The duck was the best I've ever had, to second the sentiment of at least one other reviewer. The best. My 5yo son walked right up to my plate while I was grabbing a drink and ripped off the leg while he asked if it was OK to do so in order to enjoy some "chicken on the bone" as he calls it, and was craving another chunk within minutes. Luckily there was plenty to spare. He wasn't a fan of the schnitzel but I made it disappear promptly. The bratwurst had an amazing texture, similar to the Continental sausages sold at Biker Jim's and CostCo, but with a more complex subtle spice blend underneath. The wife and I were very impressed with it and I didn't mess with it; no gravy, bread, just straight-up. I've never liked sauerkraut but I'm growing up and learning about the wonders of cultured foods along the way, so I gave it a try and decided I could learn to appreciate it from here on out. It was pungently sour but balanced with some sweetness and the caraway seeds didn't blow the top off -- it was the best I've ever had, though in fairness to both sides of my parents' respective families (both of which made the real deal in 5-gallon quantities) I might just be growing up! Everything was good; just try it. Czech bread dumplings? Light airy awesomeness. Not as dense as we were accustomed to, and in a good way. Spaetzel? Package that stuff up and sell it as a finger-food snack. Cabbage rolls? Wife was thrilled, I was too stuffed after attacking my plate to try them yet. Liver dumpling soup? I typically loathe liver, loathe it. I never manage to finish a bowl of soup when there's a full meal right there. I devoured that soup and drank every bit of that broth. I felt like a king, and what we're dealing with here is extremely wholesome food, not overly salty, but yes, complex, yes, there are spices, it's subtle and not over the top as to be expected, but well, well played! I thought for a second that maybe the cranberries weren't "from scratch" but then picked up on their potent acidity and non-pulverized texture and confirmed that "everything is made from scratch here" through the interwebs and realized they were the best homemade cranberries ever. The tartness of the berries shined through, whereas most homemade offerings I have are covered up with orange zest or other overpowering influences. Excellent. Go.

4 of us ate here this evening. My husband and I shared the jaeger schnitzel. It is plenty for two! The cost for an additional plate is $3 but worth it. We are from out of town and had no way to store leftovers. Thanks to Yelp we were able to find this restaurant and read others recommendation. We tried the fried cauliflower as an appetizer. It was great! There was no room for dessert but if there had been I would have tried the apple strudel.

We had a great experience at The Golden Europe Restaurant. Check out our blog post on it. menumaniacs.blogspot.com… "This restaurant has a very clean, everyday festive, European ambiance. It is welcoming and warm and has almost a cabin type feel. There are beautiful beer steins decorating the shelves and culturally authentic music plays in the background at a level that does not over power your conversations at the table. In warmer weather, The Golden Europe Restaurant has a patio which would be a great spot to enjoy a meal and an ice cold German beer..."

Ugh! I wish I could find a German restaurant that actually served German food. I am a German immigrant and grew up in Northern Germany. I have visited family all throughout Germany and have tasted all kinds of German cooking. Never has any of the food I ate in Germany and in my Oma's and Mom's kitchen tasted as bland as this place. I am very disappointed. I gave this 2 stars because I enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff was pleasant. Too bad about the food though.

Sooo good. Seriously great European food and beverages. Staropramen, Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur and various delicious gravies. This makes for a truly authentic meal that fills my euro cravings! Not recommended for my glutard, picky eater and impatient friends. Prost!

This place. It's strange. First off, you definitely feel like you're in your grandma's basement. Second, the service is sporadic, at best. My dad asked for a coffee and it took about twenty minutes to get it. However, our salads were there in record time. The food. I had the Vienna Schnitzel, and it was good. The cabbage was meh. The spaetzle was delicious though. The sauerkraut...you know that feeling when you're about to barf and your throat gets warm and acidic? That's what the sauerkraut tasted like. Never again. I'd go again, but it's pricy - $95 for four people. Yikes.

For the Denverites, this may do, however it is more like a golden shower than golden Europe. My taste buds were traumatized by the imitation of German and Czech food. I ate Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian food growing up in Chicago and I felt like the good soldier Svejk at Golden Europe. Potato Dumplings should be Pierogis! Expensive swill bucket!

So good. Good prices too. Always a fun time. Don't order the salad someone told me. Always order the soup.

I'm not usually into heavy European food, but this place is fantastic! The potato cakes are out of this world and the cabbage rolls knocked my socks off. The service is great and super friendly.

So I came here last week for my first time and was blown away! I liked it so much that here I am back a few days later. The sauerkraut is the best I've ever had and the red cabbage rocks! Never had schnitzel before and I'm loving it! The staff is super friendly and the owner actually takes the time to talk with customers. It's very cute and clean, I think I might have a new favorite place to eat!!!

I love this place. After being stationed in Germany for a few years it was very hard to come back to the states and not have some of my favorite foods and beer. Little did I know that just a few blocks away this place existed. I love their Jager Schnitzel, and the fact that I can get a good Hefeweizen with my dinner. The staff has always treated me well and I love the fact that I have somewhere to go at home that feels like Europe again.

Me and my husband went there for a "czech" dinner. I am from the Czech Republic and wanted to have something czech. I ordered traditional Czech meal svickova. Unfortunately the sauce has nothing to do with the real deal. This sauce is made with root vegetables and whipping cream not SOUR CREAM!!! The way they served it there. The dumplings and meat were amazing thought.

  • Justin M.

I'm giving this 3 stars, even though I didn't personally like it because the rest of my party did. I'm not one for this style of food, but when my group of friends wanted to attend I was at least intrigued. Unfortunately I got the chicken schnitzel and it just wasn't what I was looking for. Others at the table got some sausage and wursts and seemed to fare much better than I did. One of the coolest things about this place is how it's a former pizza hut (or at least appears to be) and they've turned it into a family European restaurant. It's a strange vibe, but I feel like it adds to the authenticity of the place. I feel as though the attitude is "who cares about the wallpaper, this food is home cooked just for you." It's nice to see priorities in the right place. So by all means, visit Golden Europe. If you're into European food, you probably won't be disappointed, I just made some foolish choices.

  • Aaron R.

The food is ok but over priced. Second time there and it reminded me why there is no point going back when there are better options in Nederland and Aurora. Service is polite but lack personality. Sides like red cabbage are less than par. Not bad, just not the best around. Also, what Bavarian place never has pretzels in?

YUM YUM! Great ambiance and customer service, large portions, delicious food! I had a Chicken Schnitzel and loved their red cabbage! I'm smitten and can't wait to go back! P.S. If you are a happy customer, you get to ring the bell to 'Thank the Cook!' on your way out of the door! :)

  • Abby W.

Not my favorite European restaurant, but solid variety. Pretty pricey although you get quite a bit of food. Honestly, it may have just been my choice of entree that I wasn't impressed with. The place was nice enough and the staff is friendly. I had the schnitzel and you get to pick from all these sides, which is pretty cool: German Potato Salad, Czech Bread Dumplings, Potato Dumplings, Spaetzle, Mashed Potato, Fries, Sauerkraut, Red Cabbage, Steamed Vegetable, Cranberry Sauce, Applesauce (I tried the spaetzle and sauerkraut - yum!)

I went to this restaurant over 2 years ago, and have been trying to remember the name and/or location since then. It didn't leave too lasting of an impression, since I only remembered it recently. Now that that's been said, it is good. Give it a shot, at least once or twice. Parking - private lot, which is a huge plus, especially when you meet your parents, and walking is an issue. Food - traditional German and Polish food. Prices - very good. The dishes are around $10 each, but you get lots of homemade food! Can't beat that! Interior - bright, comfortable, feels like you are home. Light woodwork, light tables, lace white curtains, plenty of room to move around, yet seats quite a few people. It's clean too! One of the employees was actually cleaning the wooden blinds, which you don't see ever! Service - very good, friendly, you won't need anything, as service is good. Good, give it a try, at least once.

Awesome! The paprika schnitzel was amazing. Everything we had was delicious. This is a hidden gem. If you like traditional European fare this place is a must. We will be back.

  • Nick S.

Pretty good, authentic German/Czech food. A little pricey for the quality, but not obnoxiously so. My schnitzel was obviously a pre-made product and not made in house, so that was disappointing. Flavors were good, but not amazing.

My mother is a German immigrant (came to the US in 1956) and now in her 80's. I spent summers growing up in Germany staying with relatives, and still travel to Europe on business so I know what authentic German food tastes like. Coming to Golden Europe is like going into a time machine for me - the food is authentic, and brings back terrific memories of my youth. Golden Europe gets 5 stars from me - it is really that good. Every time I eat there (usually at the urging of my mother - who usually comes along!) I try to have something different. Today was jäger schnitzel, with spaetzle and red cabbage. My daughter (who came with us today) had the duck with red cabbage and bread dumplings - which is what she usually has, as it is her favorite (and delicious.) We also had the potato pancakes. My mother enjoyed the chicken schnitzel, also with red cabbage and spaetzle. My only (somewhat) negative comment is that the prices are a bit high at first glance. Once you see the portions, you may change your mind. I was the only one in our party that could actually finish my meal - the others took home leftovers.....I do feel that the Potato Pancakes are a bit pricy (4 pancakes for $8 with a small container of sour cream and applesauce) is a bit high. Other than that, the remainder of the meals are priced fairly given the amount of food you get. I highly recommend them for a night out! If you want a deal, try going to lunch on Saturday - lower prices and not crowded.

My husband and I wanted to branch out and try some other types of food and this was a great choice. We didn't know what many of the dishes were but our waiter helped us by recommended some things. I should say he was excited that we were new to German food and made us feel very comfortable! It was a great experience, great food and wonderful service! We will be taking family here for special visits. Very authentic!

Great food! You had better come here very hungry though because you will leave very full when you leave! The food is very heavy! I never had a dish I did not like here!

Golden Europe is our family's all time fave. Is it pricier? Yes. Is it a better restaurant than most? Yes. The food is delightful--all five of us never leave without a cup of their tasty liver-dumpling soup (even the kids love it). Svickova is our favorite (despite the bizarre comment of it being 'industrial' shaped (really?)). The restaurant is always immaculate and the patio is wonderful. We visit often.

Spotlessly clean and bright place. Owners are Czech; not German. Great food, inexpensive and huge portions. Potato pancakes are very good. Only gripe is they need to move downtown; can't enjoy the beer and drive home.

It was date night and that means perusing book stores. We headed north up Wadsworth to hit one of our favorite places, and drove by Golden Europe Restaurant. "Hey! We've talked about trying that place. I'm pretty sure it got good reviews on Yelp," I said and got out my phone to check out the Yelp app (one of my favorites). I started to snicker. "One says it's the best German food in Arvada." Hubby laughed outright. "Well, that can't be too hard." Let me just say outright that Golden Europe is the best German/Austrian/Czech food in the Denver area, certainly the best I've had - ever. I thought I knew good schnitzel, red cabbage, potato pancakes and spatzle.... but my taste buds were opened to an entire new level of good. Everything tasted freshly prepared and the flavors were so balanced. The pork schnitzel with paprika sauce was fork tender, crispy and delicious. The veal schnitzel came out perfectly and with the squeezed lemon was juicy, crispy and wonderful. The German potato salad was absolutely the best I've ever had - I always wondered what people saw in this dish (because I've never had it with such balanced flavors). The service was friendly and welcoming. I love it that Golden Europe is a family run restaurant. The decor is homey; they've done very well with the shell of the former Pizza Hut. The menu is extensive and offers many dishes that sounded like "must trys." In particular I can't wait to try the roast duck with potato dumplings and the Czech saurbraten - especially on the pork schnitzel. Oh, when can we go back?? Soon I hope! (I never give 5 stars on a first visit, but I was seriously tempted here.)

I have been coming here for years and it is such a delight. There aren't many Mittel Europa restaurants in the Denver area, but this is undoubtedly the BEST! The place is small, located in an old Pizza Hut. The decor is charming, all kinds of Mittel Europa knickknacks, beer steins etc. adorn the walls. It is a family run eatery. The owner is a total sweetie, scurrying about making sure all is well and plying everyone with samples of this or that special! Service is fun and friendly..couldn't be better! The food is very good Mittel European fare! Don't plan on making breakfast the next day, portion are enormous, you will have enough left over for one or even two meals! I love the dumplings that come with good old fashioned gravy like Mom used to make, (where can you get that now days?). Their Roast Duck is what they do best! I have never been to an eatery; European, Oriental or whatever that did duck as well as this! It has very little fat and is roasted to perfection! There is a good Mittel Europa wine and beer list and to top it off, prices are very reasonable! You more than get your bang for your buck! So put on your Lederhosen or Drindl and have a delightful excursion to Mittel Europa!

Lived in Germany. I've been to a TON of German & Slavic restaurants....everywhere. Their spaetzle and schnitzel is done truly, truly well. We go here in the winter time for the coziest ambiance anywhere.

Had lunch here on a Saturday. Ordered the chicken schnitzel. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. My dad makes tastier schnitzels. I'll have to come here again to try a Wiener schnitzel (veal). The restaurant looks and feels like a regular American diner, nothing particularly European about it. It was clean and service was prompt and very friendly.

Wow, Golden Europe you rock! My GF and I stopped in last Friday night looking for something good to eat - OK, and maybe something to drink too. We were blown away by the overall experience, so good! It's close to her place and I've driven by it for years without stopping in, better late than never I guess. We were both practically starving when we rolled in a little before 8pm, so we decided to start with some potato pancakes. I'm not German, Austrian, Czech, or in any way an expert on them but I have to say that those pancakes were one of the best apps I've ever had. First, they're freaking HUGE, a good 5-6 inches in diameter. Then they were cooked perfectly. Crispy, puffy, tatery, sublime. They came with applesauce and sour cream, which I applied to the top of the pancake in that order. Heavenly! I went with the Svickova Schnitzel for my entree and once I tasted it I knew I had made one of my better culinary decisions. It was easily the best schnitzel I've ever had, all covered with a delicious creamy gravy. The veal was pounded to the ideal thickness and was almost the size of the plate, then fried to golden brown perfection. It came with spaetzle and red cabbage. The spaetzle was great, and when combined with the gravy raised it to the next level. The cabbage was OK, I'm not a huge fan in general but this was way better than most others I've tried. It also came with a cup of soup, I went with the liver dumpling. It was a meatball (guessing made of liver) in a rich, meaty broth. A nice start for sure. My girlfriend got the triple bratwurst - a veal, a pork, and a smoked brat. It came with with German potato salad and sauerkraut, both very good. Combined, the leftovers fed us both for a meal, and enough for one of us to have a third! The place is an old Pizza Hut, once inside it's the kind of place that makes you feel like you're at home. Nothing fancy here, just clean and well kept. The service was also great, even though I think we made our waitress stay late. When we got there we didn't notice they closed at 9pm, I hate to make someone hang around waiting for me to finish eating. As a general rule I try to never go to a place within an hour and a half of closing. Our server was awesome, and didn't seemed to care at all that we hung out till nearly 9:30. My only dig would be the beer. Yes, I know it's German/Austrian/Czech, however I like ales, not lagers. I was able to get a dark lager that didn't suck so all was well. Just a request from the cheap seats to add a few others. Golden Europe is one of those places people drive by and think they know what's inside. Well in this case they don't, cuz if they did there'd be a line out the door all the time!

Best Middle European restaurant I've tried in the area. The portions are huge, and I get two good size meals out of each visit. The service is excellent, and the restaurant is very clean. Their hours are a little odd, so I usually check in advance to be sure they are open.

Oh. My. Schnitzel! I am going to Prague over the summer through Metro State for a study abroad program and I am also of Czech descent (as well as Irish). I had to try a new "ethnic" restaurant and write about it for my Nutrition 3300 (Cultural Aspects of Nutrition), so I looked around Yelp for a Czech restaurant and this place came up. First off, be prepared to shell out some moolah...to feed the four of us was just over $80 with the tip. But...it was WORTH IT! We started off with potato pancakes and my gawd were they good! Just like my grand-dad used to make them back in the day!! Sour cream and applesauce...perfection! Our meals: My two little girls each had the kid's bratwurst meal, which was a good sized link of brat, a scoop of mashed potatoes (a good sized scoop!) and a kid sized milk for $6.50 (each). They both scarfed it down and LOVED the brats, potatoes and rye bread! My partner's meal: The daily special which was weinerschnitzel and kielbasa with Czech sauerkraut and Czech bread dumplings. She cleaned her plate...loved every bit of it!! Her meal was around $18 plus the $2 for her iced tea. My meal: Czech platter with 1/4 roasted duck, roasted pork, Czech bread dumplings and Czech sauerkraut. I couldn't even finish half of this!!! I took home TWO take out boxes!! Mine was $20 (with salad or soup) and $2 for my Diet Coke. We would have loved to try out some Czech/German/Polish/Austrian desserts, but we were all so full, we practically needed a wheelbarrow to leave the restaurant! The food was FRESH, well made and flavorful. Our server was quite attentive and knowledgeable. From the $20 Czech Platter, I'll have a total of three or four meals! We will most certainly return, although next time, I'll probably split a plate with my daughters since it was SO much food! This is a MUST TRY!!

Grab a Gas-X and go to town! If you like duck, you must order it hours in advance because they often run out...needless to say, it's quite great. Golden Europe has all the types of wurst you can imagine. The atmosphere is OK, nothing to phone home about--really, you'd go here if you're craving that Czech, Polish, &c. deep-down fullness that you can only get with this type of food. Again, this place is great but you'll thank me when you pop a Prilosec OTC and an Extra Strength Gas-X before you go. A slogan I'd recommend: "Golden Europe: it's the Wurst!"

Yum, yum, yum. A friend and I stopped by Golden Europe before seeing a show at the Arvada Center... she had been to the restaurant before, and liked it. It was my first time. We were quickly greeted at the door and immediately led to a table. Our server had our drinks out and took orders very quickly - we didn't even have to mention a 7:30pm showtime. Everything seemed to be flowing seamlessly. Their schnitzel selection is pretty darn big, I must say! I had the Dijon, and it was outstanding. Also, the portion size here is huge, so I've got at least two meals to go out of it - all for $17. The decor isn't anything special - lots of wood paneling. The place feels homey, and is very comfortable. There were groups in the place as large as a dozen, but it's also the kind of place I wouldn't feel totally awkward at if I needed to stop in for a quick meal by myself. To sum it up - the food is delicious, staff was friendly and efficient, and the price isn't too bad, especially considering the quality/quantity you'll be getting! Go check it out!

Figure it's time to speak up about one of my favorite restaurants back home, Golden Europe. This restaurant has become a staple for both myself and my extended family (all natives of Germany/Poland/Hungary/Former Czechoslovakia), and in my now sadly infrequent visits back to Colorado, it has become a must-visit every time. And each of those times, it's not uncommon for me to walk in and some member of my extended family is there having a beer and a bite to eat. Don't let the fact that on the outside it's a converted sit-down Pizza Hut sway you, inside is one of the most authentic Czech/Polish restaurants with a little fusion of Germany you can find. It's a warm, cozy, and inviting restaurant that feels just like home. Everyone inside is just as friendly as the atmosphere. A fellow Yelper observes, "for anyone who as [sic] eaten real german food in germany, this place is a huge disappointment" - I'd love for him to have a word with my predominantly German family who might have a thing or two to say. The food is delicious, authentic, and hits the spot when you're craving food just like Oma's. My late Hungarian Opa would, without fail, always order the jäger schnitzel and a Warsteiner. But he'd never have to say a word. Joe and Joe Jr. always knew the minute he sat down, knowing my Opa and his order immediately. Joe and Joe Jr. of course being the owner/managers, also a testament to the authenticity of the restaurant is that it's family owned, family operated, and "Mom" is back in the kitchen making the food. I absolutely adore the chicken paprikash. It literally does taste just like my Oma used to make it. Handmade dumplings, sauce spiced perfectly, the chicken so tender it disintegrates in your mouth... It's a special item that's only on the dinner menu, but worth it when it's available. As above, Joe Jr. knows my partiality to the dish and immediately tells me if they have it or not before he even asks for my order. If they don't - I usually go with the jäger schnitzel, spaetzle, and a Warsteiner in my Opa's honor... and I'm never disappointed.

Ok as far as german food. My mom was a great austrian cook so I'd say that I was spoiled but the red cabbage was good, the saurkraut sweet, the schnitzel bland, the stroganoff to die for and so are the sausages. The appfel strudel was tasteless. But the vanilla ice cream alone was worth the trip.

Just Like Ze Old Country! This was a very nice little midweek diversion last week. Wasn't on good terms at home so I snuck out fr a glass of wine, some German food and a little break. I ate the Jager Schnitzel and it was delicious... Meat was so tender and juicy and the gravy with mushrooms and onions was some of the best I've ever had. I have a "non-experimental food" spouse and she even thought the Red cabbage was delicious! (BTW it was amazing!) Service was great and the gals working there are very cute (always a nice touch.) I had a nice glass of red wine to go with the veal and it was quite good as well although I don't remember which one now. My only quip was the spaetzle was a little bland... Nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix but I don't EVER salt food... All in all this is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the stupid chain restaurants, support a local business and try something new. I will definitely go back when my German heritage family visits in March! Great Job Golden Europe!

What a fantastic little surprise in Arvada. I love this restaurant. It's pleasant, authentic, and serves wonderful food. I think it is outside the norm in the quality of the serving and the quality of the beer. I wish they were open more often. Unfortunately their hours are not super friendly to most of the restaurant crowd. Otherwise, great beer, great food, great atmosphere, wonderful time.

German and Czech cuisine at it's finest. The liver dumpling soup is great. I'm a fan of the Jaeger Schnitzel. Good, laid back atmosphere. You will find that many of the patrons are of Northern European descent which I rate as a plus . The waitress's are awesome and hardworking. Good German Bier. Great service. Ring the bell on the way out. Tschüss!

You know, there a very few reviews here on this restaurant. I have not gone for several months, but I grew up not far from the original in Riverside, IL. They moved here. My Czech Grandma used to go there (in Illinois) and took me one time. She spoke the language and so did they. It seemed the whole family worked there. And they did. According to Grandma. Same here. I went there one day cause I was working in Arvada, and it was close. I went for lunch and it turns out that the owner's son and I had lived in the same town in Illinois. Went to the same school, even though a few years removed. So, I am expecting good food. Grandma's food. I had the Pork Roast and dumplings and sauerkraut. Peas would have been nice. Can't remember the side. Is it Grandma's? No. But damn close. Loved it and I brought my Mom for a night. (visiting). She agreed. Damn close to what we remember. Not quite, but that's why we stil have the recipes. Still very tasty. The sauerkraut is missing something, but still very good. My Ma thinks its apples and brown sugar. I think the sweeetness is there but it misses the beer. Course, I miss beer in anything. But thank god, they have beer. Excellent food at reasonable prices and as authentic as Czech can be here without Grandma's recipes. Also have German dishes, but I don't know why. The Duck and Pork are really good. I guess it all melds into Eastern European food. You may have to be a heavy food lover to enjoy, but eat! Enjoy a taste of "my old world."

Pseudo hubby and I went to Golden Europe for dinner last night. After years of driving by and wondering how the food is, we finally found out. Even though it looks like an old school Pizza Hut the inside is quaint and comfortable. A light wood paneling brightens up the place and makes it feel a bit more authentic. The selection of tables and booths are comfortable. We were greeted promptly and seated, however there seemed to just be one waiter for the restaurant so the service was a bit slower than normal. But I wasn't expecting fast, chain food service anyway, so all was good. I ordered a Czechvar lager and the pseudo hubby got a Spaten Oktoberfest. Both were very tasty. They come in small, medium, and large sizes ... the large being the .5 liter. I ordered the Jager Schnitzel ... lightly breaded veal with a mushroom gravy with sauteed onions on top, a side of spaetzle and sauerkraut. The gravy was rich and there were LOTS of mushrooms on top of the meat. The portion was ENORMOUS. Definitely big enough for two meals - or more if you eat small portions like me. The man got the 1/4 roasted duck with a side of the red cabbage. The duck was really crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. It was really tasty. Both dishes came with sides of either salad or ghoulash soup. I had the ghoulash soup which was flavorful with meat and potatoes. I would recommend checking Golden Europe out if you're interested in trying some European food. I will definitely return. Unfortunately they aren't open for lunch during the week, only on the weekends. Entrees run about $15.

This was my first German food experience. It was pretty delish. I halved the chicken schnitzel with my sister since she warned me that the dishes were huge. She was right. And the nice thing about these guys is they will actually half the whole dish, including all the sides. I had the cabbage and spaetzel which were both amazing compliments to the schnitzel. It is a smaller, quieter place, so I'm sure our party of 11 ruckus ladies must have annoyed more than one diner, but I would definitely go back and bring my husband next time for a cozy dinner with stick-to-your-ribs German food.

I could make a meal out of the rye bread, some cheese, and beer. I'm saying the rye bread is fabulous. Even though the place was busy we had good service. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous. The decor was definitely German, but under stated. We pass through Denver twice a year. We always make a point of eating here.

Okay, so I know I'm VERY critical when it comes to Slovak and Czech food, but I was so disappointed with this place. After moving to the Denver area from NY, I was very much in the mood for a nice serving of Svickova and Kapustnica. To begin with, the Svickova was rather bland and not sweet enough for my taste. The sauce was more of a brown gravy instead of being made the traditional way. ie: with carrots, parsnips, celery root, etc. And then there was the Kapustnica. What a disappointment! It was horrible! No flavor from the sausage and it didn't have that nice sour taste from the kraut. It looks like in order to satisfy my craving for decent Slovak/Czech food, I'll either have to make it myself, or take a trip to Brooklyn.

For all the genuine charm that this place does have, when you're listening to German Polka being played too loud over speakers that equate to loud speakers, all you can really think about is Nazis which is a shame, because the German food is really pretty good.

This place is pricey for what you get. Entrees are between $15 and $21. You do get a lot of food, but its not the quality you would expect for the price. Despite the fact that they claim to make everything from scratch, it just seems like diner quality food to me. The dinner salad is iceberg lettuce, one baby carrot, one cherry tomato, one cucumber and a few shreds of red cabbage. They do not make any of the dressings that they serve. The fresh bread was good and Im sure their soups were good, but they didnt have any made without beef. I ordered the Jager Pork, which comes with sauerkraut and spaetzles. The roast pork was all industrially similar in shape (ovals) and smothered in a mushroom gravy. Everything tasted good, but was not great and I feel a bit ripped off by the prices. I will not be going back, as I much prefer the food at Sobo 151 (who's prices are also much more reasonable).

I love this place! I've been there on two different occasions and the food is always yummy. The price is higher but you get a ton of food! I've never left there hungry. I love the veal, it's got a great flavor. There's plenty to choose from and all of it is tasty!

Excellent. Go.

Pretty good, authentic German/Czech food. A little pricey for the quality, but not obnoxiously so. My schnitzel was obviously a pre-made product and not made in house, so that was disappointing. Flavors were good, but not amazing.

Tschüss!

Best Middle European restaurant I've tried in the area. The portions are huge, and I get two good size meals out of each visit. The service is excellent, and the restaurant is very clean. Their hours are a little odd, so I usually check in advance to be sure they are open.

Great food! You had better come here very hungry though because you will leave very full when you leave! The food is very heavy! I never had a dish I did not like here!
