A popular work spot for myself and other workers in the area--the line is usually out the door, but they do a good job turning tables over. The pho broth is always clean and flavorful, plus they provide plenty of meat compared to most other pho places. On hot days, I'll go with a cold noodle salad--the BBQ Pork & Chicken are both really delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions are always on the bigger side.

Ordered pho to go from this place. When I called the young guy that answers the phone just says "hello"...I had to ask whether or not I had called Pho Queen. When I arrived to pick up my order, I go up to the counter where I am met by an unsmiling, unfriendly older man, who doesn't bother to even say hello, just "pick up?"...He then rings up my order and I notice he charges me for a large when over the phone I ordered a regular. I let it slide since I notice they have taken it upon themselves to make a large order despite my request. Finally, I get to eating and the broth is bland as all hell. I have never ever had the desire to add salt to my pho broth, but it was just that bland. Never coming back here, there are far too many local pho spots to choose from.

Cash only! I ate dinner here on a Thursday night with my mother and it was pretty empty. Our order was taken right away and we got our food pretty quick. I wasnt expecting much because I read negative yelp reviews while waiting but was presently surprised when my food came. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with chicken and shrimp and my mother had the seafood pho. Honestly, this was the best bowl of vermicelli I've had in the area. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was bigger than any other pho places give you. I tasted my mother's pho and the broth and noodles were both excellent

Decent bowl of pho that's a little more pricey than your usual pho joint. I've only been here twice and both times I've ordered the seafood pho with seafood broth. It's not bad considering the amount of seafood they put in and how clean the broth looks....but this place is just so dirty... It's like they never dust the place up. Their utensils are also not washed enough. You can tell because there's still food on them :( I would recommend ordering take out and avoid the filth. Otherwise, brace yourselves...

I love the broth! Usually pretty quick to get your meal. Remember your table number when you got to the counter to pay.

Now that we've moved to Willow Glen...I miss this place so much. They stick to the basics, so no stir-fries, and they don't have a deep fryer, so no crispy egg rolls for you, but what they have is tasty and reliable. I really like their pork rice plate -- thin sliced tasty grilled pork roast, served with rice, pickled veg, and a side of scalding hot chicken broth (you have to make a special request for the broth if you get takeout). It's not the same pork as the pork vermicelli bowl, though that's good too -- you get thin slices of fattier pork (I assume pork shoulder) with the noodle bowls. I can still make special trips over here, but it's no longer convenient for me to hit up Pho Queen on the way home. Have a pork plate for me.

Pho queen is one of my favorite. Quick and easy open till 9pm go here way to much. Go here way to often.

Okay quality pho for an okay price. Busy during lunch hours.

This place is good for pho, bun and they have fast service for a quick lunch.

I have lunch at this restaurant once or twice a week whenever I am in Silicon Valley office. You may have to line up at noon but service is quick. Friendly. Very good Pho Noodle. I treat many of my guests here and they love the food.

This is my go to pho place near my work, have been coming here for 10 years. I love the Pho #1 special with crab claws, shrimp, and pork. Line might seem long but turnover is pretty quick. Your order comes out pretty quick after you order. My other usual #3 pho is also pretty solid (#1 at other pho places). Only downside is cash only so I have to plan ahead to get some cash for lunch.

Let's set expectations right from the start- service here is bad, don't come here if you expect patient, courteous service - it's purely 'transactional'. Food though is great! It's my go to place for Dry Noodle pho which uses egg noodles (those you can find at wanton noodle stalls). The sauce used is just nice (not too salty) and a just-enough portion of meat, shrimp. Expect a queue on a workday lunch but it moves fast - my experience was 10 minutes max.

This is a good pho place. Pretty average service, prices, location, and food. It's not incredible, but hey, it's pretty good noodle soup.

I've been coming to this place for years. I recognize most of the workers so it appears to be family owned. Service is always prompt and the staff is very used to dealing with a packed restaurant. On weekdays you'll see a line wrapping from the door along the length of the restaurant. This place is that good! Ultimately, the noodles and broth are the stars of the show. I've had better meat at other pho restaurants, but even that's pretty good as well. If you're looking for pho and are in the area this place is a must try.

  • Houa X.

I love the pho here because they have a special sa-tay that goes great with it. I would say, without the sa-tay, this would just be another pho place. Yes, they have other dishes too, but those are norm. The setting is ok and the service is great. Guess it's because I'm a regular; No.3 all the time, takes less than 5 mins for my bowl to arrive. Only dislike is cash only, makes it a bit of a hassle.

Dirtest of dirty pho.. better options are around the corner!!! Pro: - They have seafood pho!! Crab legs and shrimp in pho is pretty interesting with either rice or flat noodles. Both seem pretty good and priced around $9 which isn't a terrible deal - Big menu and have a lot of choices that you can pick from. - Lots of seats and space, so don't need to share a table with a strange like some pho places that make you do that Con: - Dirty!! I checked 6 spoons and all had some dirt on it, same w/ the chopsticks, lipsticks on the cups, and hair in the soup.. Do they need a new dish washing machine?!?!?! - Long line because service is slow. Most pho places are on point and knows that their ability to turn over tables fast makes them more $. Not Pho Queen!!! Always a long line , not due to popularity, but rather due to laziness.. they have 5 guys just standing around while there are 3 tables that need bussing.. what are those guys doing?!?!! - Long lines to pay as well..the guy at the cashier doesn't seem to know how to work the register and goes very slow.. a 45min meal can easily be 1.5 hrs cause of this! WHAT TO GET: As mentioned before, the seafood pho seems interesting! WHAT NOT TO GET: anything that's not pho.. the rice/dry noodle plates don't seem very good and not worth your money OVERALL: I'll be back if I had no other choices, but there are way better pho places nearby. I really can't get over the dirtiness... I mean i understand pho can't be completely clean, but at least try!

How is it that so many places are closed for dinner at 8:30pm on a Friday night?! I'm looking at you, Pho Nam. Enter Pho Queen. I've driven by this place so many times and have been meaning to try it for awhile now. Came with a group of 4 and it was a good sign that the restaurant was over half full when we sat down. We all ended up ordering a soup noodle dish (pho for myself), and the food came out fairly quickly. As far as I can tell everyone was happy enough with their meal. Afterward, we went up to the front to pay instead of waiting to see if they were going to come by with the check. Your standard, serviceable, no-frills Vietnamese restaurant. Nothing stands out as spectacular, so here's my 3 star "A-OK" review. I live fairly close by, so I have no problems with coming back to this place if I'm in the mood for pho.

    (3)
  • Aileen C.

Pho Queen was only okay in my opinion. There are so many Vietnamese restaurants in the area that it must be seriously hard to compete. I got their normal pho with everything inside. The soup was pretty average, nothing that stood out in my opinion. The one thing that I will say is good about this place is that their portions are REALLY BIG. If you are looking for pho that is not bad, decently priced, with large portions, then this is the place to go. I will say that their service was not very good, though. I'm totally used to Asian restaurants and this was a little worse than normal. The staff was friendly enough, but when we asked for more limes and jalepenos, we never got them. :( PS - I also shared an order of spring rolls with my friends...another menu item that is just okay.

I've never been fan of pho.. that is, until I tried out Pho Queen. When I used to work in the area, I'd stop by 1-2 for lunch on a weekly basis. Lunch time usually means a wait, but diners usually get seated quickly. On to the actual food, the broth is always clear and flavorful. The meat is tender and never too chewy. The regular beef pho and the seafood one is amazing. The medium size and the large size look the same -- I guess there's just more noodles in the large one. Gotta get the extra meatballs. I don't need the siracha or the seafood sauce, because it's good enough on its own. On top of it all, the blended drinks are yummy too. The avocado shake is done right! Rice plates here are a def no go though. Why are all the meat bits flat?!

    (4)
  • Don S.

Terrible place to eat! Don't recommend! Mediocre taste with small portion, plus unfriendly cashiers and servers.

    (1)
  • Hoa Q.

It's good enough to not deny a coworker of her Vietnamese Noodle Soup urges and is the best place I have found in the area, but it's not a place I would go out of my way to eat at. There is quite a bit of variety on the menu, but the noodle dishes are the best. My usual is the Hu Tieu My Tho, dry. The meats in the grilled dishes are thin, really dry, and not very flavorful. The grilled meat dishes are also pretty expensive. I would go elsewhere for the smoothies. With too much cream and not much sugar, I felt like I was drinking flavored Crisco. The restaurant is clean, and the service is actually pretty good for a typical Vietnamese restaurant. Those of you who don't go to Vietnamese restaurants often, let me tell you, customer service could be much worse. If you can catch the waiters, they are happy to help you.

    (3)
  • Amanda L.

I love Pho so this might be biased! The Pho broth and noodles are great but the beef slices are super dry. Quantities are very generous, I am never able to finish it! Roll wise - Ok. I've only had the non-fried ones. I think they might not have fried ones. Drink wise - I highly recommend the avocado smoothie!!! It's so good. They have tapioca pearls too! Ambiance wise - this place is very old school. Almost to the point where it feels like you are eating at a street cafe in Vietnam. The restaurant is run by Vietnamese (so you know it's legit) but they speak very little English so feel free to refer to the numbers on the menu to avoid confusion.

  • Clinton E.

Waiter was completely rude. Before everyone jumps on and says " pho restaurants are kind of fast paced etc... " it's still a business and you shouldn't treat people ( customers or otherwise ) badly. I tip pretty well everywhere I go. This place had only 5 occupied tables out of the whole ( fairly large restaurant ) and the waiter was rolling his eyes and giving me the " yeah yeah whatever treatment " when asking questions. I've been to a million Vietnamese places and I'm nice to everyone in service oriented roles but yeah.... Just be nice to people. All I wanted was the stupid 3 bean drink and the guy talked to me like I was completely unworthy of his time. 2 stars because it's really hard to mess up Pho so the food ain't bad but... Screw that

    (1)
  • John C.

Bit over priced compared to other pho places. (raised prices sense last visit). Service is fast paced and waiters r not super friendly. Prob last tine we visit this place. Tea is always in small pot and next to impossible to get refill.

    (1)
  • Reyz A.

Quick, cheap, they don't care what you look like (because they take your order without looking up at you), they want you finish your food so they can shuffle in the next people standing in line and delicious, Try #29 or #15 -- I think that's the one meat, seafood, half egg noodle, half flat rice noodle, and soup on the side. Slurp your food, burp your soda, you get the evil eye 'cause they want you to get out, and by the time you're finished paying your bill, your seat's been taken. I love Silicon Valley lunches.

I love this joint, it's my Vietnamese fix go-to. For the price, Pho Queen has the best pho and vietnamese dishes that I've tried in the area. Service can be hit-or-miss, but it's a bit of a dive. Parking can also be a bit of a challenge as there's not a lot of it for all the businesses in the strip mall. This is especially the case during lunch. Atmosphere is fine, it feels solidly divey to me. Noise isn't a big deal, and kids aren't either.

  • Gabriel B.

It's still "Pho Queen" good, not quite "Pho Queen" great. We came in with a party of four on a Friday. Cash only so be prepared. We waited about five minutes to be sat (There was a line outside). I had the egg noodle with pork, not a traditional Pho combination, I know but I like to mix it up. It was good. We also had some fresh rolls with the usual shrimp, silver noodles, fresh basil, shrimp and pork in it. These came with a peanut sauce with ground peanuts in it. I can't complain, there are many other Pho joints and they are all about par with each other, in this area.

    (3)

Ate lunch here the food here is very good. I am impressed with the food here! I like the inviting colors in this restaurant.

    (5)
  • Andrea s.

Came in here and ordered 4 smoothies said the wait would be 15 mins, 25 mins later and they still aren't done! Unbelievable! Customer service sucks!

    (1)
  • Carissa K.

The pho here is pretty good in comparison to many other pho places in the area. It's spring rolls taste fresh and a well-spiced peanut sauce accompanies it. Whenever I do takeout, this place is my go-to. It serves you food quickly and cleanly. However, the service is spotty. Sometimes the staff is nice but sometimes they just push you along. As for food quality this is one of my favorite pho places and I readily enjoy their food.

    (4)
  • Vincent L.

Dependable choice for a fast, cheap Vietnamese fix. While not necessarily the most mind-blowing pho, noodles, or rice dishes you've ever had, everything here is well-portioned for the price, and served very quickly and efficiently. There's not a whole lot of ambience at this strip mall outlet, but there's not a lot of options in the immediate area either. So, during lunch time, it's good enough for a quick in-and-out experience away from the office.

They used to have another location near downtown San Jose, near my home, and the food was very good. I heard this place was not that good but because I was nearby, I decided to give it a shot. Let's start with the restaurant, it is very dirty and dusty. The table is sticky. I ordered pho with meat and tendon and requested meat on the side as usual. They told me no unless I paid extra. WHAT???? I have been ordered pho with meat on the side for the last 20 years and never got charge for doing it. It is very common to order pho this way. Ok. Fine. I don't like to argue with the skunky waiter. I requested thick fresh noodle and it didn't happen. About the taste, very disappointed. It is blah. The only time I had pho like this when I was in Florida, a little place in middle of nowhere with no Asian around. Never come back.

    (1)
  • Ken J.

Meal was ok would not say over the top. Agree with other yelpers that this is just a little more then a blip on the radar with all the other vietnamese restaurants in the area. Service was great though, came with recommendations and options to compliment the meal.

    (3)
  • Ronny T.

Maybe my favorite pho and Vietnamese place. Gets very crowded at weekday lunch, so come early (or don't come). Have had the pho, the dry vermicelli noodle, and the dry yellow noodle. Really liked the dry yellow noodle special. Give it a try, but best to do it on a weekend when it doesn't seem to be too crowded. Oh, and it's really in the middle of a business park so caters a lot to nearby high-tech working Asians. No one expects great service.

    (4)
  • Kristine L.

First off I should saw that this is a Cash Only place. I visit this Pho place from time to time, because it's near by when I have a craving for Pho. The food is good. Pho comes in two sizes M and L. They have all the trimmings set on the table, along with the proper utensils ( chopsticks, soup spoons, and even forks and spoons ). There's only one appetizer and that's the fresh spring roll with peanut sauce. It's good on it's own but better with the sauce. There's a variety of pho and rice dishes for you to choose from and also drinks, including Thai Tea w/ or w/o boba. The service is okay. Though it can feel very abrupt and seem rude. About paying, you have to go up to the cashier on your own. They have your order already set there. If you ask for a bill, they're just point you to the register.

    (3)
  • Mark M.

Cash only place with no warning until you try to pay. Even with us as almost the only customers there they never brought the bill. Basic business practices ignored. Food was decent.

    (3)
  • Christina N.

I always order #1 or #2 (dry noodles) on their menu which comes with a huge crab claw and generous serving of meat slices. This place is cash only, and the line can get pretty long at lunch time, although it does move quite fast. The portions are pretty small compared to the standard US portions though. I'd say this is a good place for a quick fix for lunch if you work around the area.

    (3)
  • William T.

Do not come here for lunch on a work day if you need to get in and get out. The line is out the door (literally) on weekdays. I tend to come here every Friday during lunch and if you get here by 11am or so you should be ok. Anything starting after 11:30am there will be a wait. Also, like most Pho places the weather plays a key role on the wait. On cold winter days the line is typically longer especially if it's raining. I mean... I don't have actual statistics to back it up but it's just by my observation. The pho here is actually pretty good. Definitely a top 5 in the bay area IMO. The service isn't that great because there's seriously 1 guy that takes orders, 1 lady that serve drinks and 1 cleaning person a majority of the time even when it's busy. The thing I don't like about this place is that they charge for extra onion! They charge $.50. Most places don't charge for that but I love my white onions. The price is not too bad for the taste but I do feel like it's a little over priced. It might be because of the location and they're really the only good pho place in the area unless you want to go to downtown Sunnyvale for some Pho that doesn't taste as good and cost more. For all those that mentioned things are dirty... comeon... it's a pho shop. If it ain't dirty it ain't good. LOL JK. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary dirty. Maybe I'm use to the dirty pho shops. (side note: the dirtiest pho shop I've been to my friend found a used spoon in his bowl)

    (4)
  • Jim P.

I don't understand why there is a line out the door for lunch at Pho Queen. It is really Meh Pho, the size of the bowl is good but the ingredients are not the best. They will not serve you the Round Steak on the side; so expect it to be cooked DOA. The servers truly look miserable about doing their jobs. With the number of other Pho places in the area; you can get so much better for the same $$$.

    (2)
  • Jenna F.

The food is good and it's so convenient near my house. I always order the chicken and shrimp over rice and the shrimp tastes awesome. But customer service here is the worst and so rude. I was ordering to go and ordered 4 rice plates and the guy said it was 40. I was confused but paid and then in little letters I saw that they charge extra for to-go. They never told me that they charge more, scumbags. I don't know how much more he charged because they don't give receipts. Bad service makes a difference at restraints.

FOOD IS DELICIOUS!!! IT IS AMAZING!!!!! Saw a roach here 3 years ago.....I think they have probably cleaned up there act since then...I will have to check n review... BUT I SAW WHAT I SAW! Food was good though, don't get me wrong!

    (1)
  • Maria M.

This place should have more good ratings. It is not fancy and decor is not amazing, BUT the food and prices are outstanding. For $20 you can get two big pho and 2 spring rolls. Or a pho, and a ban and it is more than enough to get you stuffed. And the food is healthy and fresh. Their pho taste better than any home made soup! You cannot go wrong with any of their pho. Chicken Pho is my favorite - simple and tasty. Their spring rolls are delicious. Never had a chance to try a Bubble tea because they often ran out of pearls, but looking forward to it. Perfect place for an affordable and DELICIOUS carry-out!

    (5)
  • L C.

I normally order pho with combination meat. Today I ordered pho with seafood. The shrimp is large and fresh, but overall is just OK.

    (3)
  • Caroline B.

I love how they add Sriracha sauce to the Peanut sauce for the Spring Rolls. Shrimp Spring Rolls here are so good, and the wrapper doesn't have a weird smell to it like some other places do!

    (4)
  • kish s.

The food is below average and the customer service needs negative stars. Would never go again.

    (1)
  • Nadia S.

Don't buy the thai iced tea with pearls - totally flavorless, watered down, and the pearls were the worst ever. Pho itself was okay. I ordered the one with all the different types of meat and they give you one piece of each... which is okay I guess. Maybe I'm spoiled and I like the places that give you a little more meat than that. Broth was okay - nothing to rave about. This isn't a place where I would recommend to friends or say "OMG I AM TOTALLY CRAVING PHO FROM HERE." But, if I was totally wasted on a Saturday night and nothing else was open, I would come back. Or maybe not... I think In-n-out would still be open.

  • Courtney E.

Oh my...skip this place. I've been here multiple times. I have an abusive relationship with this place.... Each time I think, maybe it'll be better. Maybe they'll change...nope. Lol. For the sake of fairness I always order Pho. I've had to convince myself sometimes I was eating actual broth and not just heated up tap water. The portions were fair, a fair amount meat and noodles...but it just felt soulless. Like fast food pho style. They do crank out the bowls as they accommodate a large lunch crowd, but the dining experience was BLAH. There was a line to pay going through the restaurant so we had the pleasure of having our conversation with an array of booties right up in our face. Thank god we didn't get crop dusted lol. I dunno I can't comment to all their other food, but if you're really craving pho, and this is the mirage I see in the desert...I could force myself to go back....barely...

  • Terence N.

Tasty pho and vietnamese iced coffee. I got a #1 medium and it was perfect lunch size. The portions were a lil small for the price, especially compared to other pho houses, but this is the only decent pho in the area. Pretty typically pho house they serve noodles, rice plates, vermicelli, etc..., food is tasty but the service is slow. The wait also gets long during weekday lunch hours, so you have to come in before noon. Not a bad pho place it will satisfy your pho cravings; but i've had better in sunnyvale and santa clara.

A buddy and I went to this place for lunch last week. I had seen the reviews and always wanted to check it out. For starters the place gets packed fast so get there early. The hostess was nice enough to give us menu's while we waited, which I like. We got sat down, the tables were clean and none of the bottles of soy sauce/chili oil were sticky. Any place with good sanitary practices is plus in my book. Food came out fast and hot, I got a regular size, the bowl was huge and filled with what I can only describe as two closed fists of noodles. The broth was good and the #17 is my go to (beef meat balls). I would certainly hit this place up again. As a tip for first timers, the waiter takes your order (may require flagging down) then to pay you simply walk up to the register and give them your table number (cash only).

  • Alan C.

Me and my friends go here for Pho all the time. I don't go to many Pho places, I have tried three or four others and none of them really appealed to me. The Chicken pho here is excellent and whenever I am in the mood for Pho I tend to go here even if I am across town with other options available. If you are coming here during lunch time, especially on cold days, get here before 11:30 are after 1 pm. Cause it is BUSY.

  • Ernest F.

The food was great and all but reason why I gave this place 2 stars was because of the customer service I had received. They say the close at 9pm but they really close at around 8:30... I came there to get a small and quick dinner with my friend because I had gotten off work late. I arrived at around 8:20ish and sat down and I asked the waiter if if i can wait for my friend who was on the way. The waiter looked at his watch and then rolled his eyes (I can't believe he did that in front of me) and told me 5 min. He made me feel rushed. 5 min passed and he told me to hurry up with a look of annoyance. I have never felt so unwanted in a restaurant. I decided to just eat at another place with me friend so I got up and left. Don't get me wrong, the food is tasty and comes in fast but it sucks that the customer service clouds this review.

Since I'm not able to drive down to the Pho King, i'm ok settling with the Pho Queen. Finally found a decent Pho placed that's a short drive from the new office. Haven't tried many dishes here so will withhold much judgement, but in my book you must earn the 4 stars. The Pho noodle are good, not greasy/oily like some places churn it out. The service for lunch is quick of course, like many Pho noodle houses. Now just gotta go back and try out their other dishes.

This place was just gross. First off, they were pretty cold and unfriendly. We ordered grilled pork vermicelli and the grilled chicken over rice. The pork seemed more like ham and was def microwaved and not fresh tasting at all. The chicken was glazed in a weird sauce and also didn't taste freshly made. Both seemed reheated. Would never come here again.

CASH only, lots of people during lunch time.

  • Catherine L.

Convenient since it's close to work but don't try coming here during 11:45-1:00 Monday - Friday, parking is horrible since there are a few other restaurants and the lot is small (no street parking). Food is okay, nothing I would drive more than 10 minutes for or eat on the weekends but it does the job when I want Pho and am at work.

  • Scott Y.

It's just not very clean looking and very ghetto. Come on. spend some money on just keeping it cleaner and make sure kitchen is clean and sanitary too.

  • Christina P.

Fast and delicious! Service could be a bit friendlier but then again I normally end up with the guy who is eager to get on the phone to talk to who knows who. I've ordered in house and I have ordered to go. It doesn't take very long to get my food and it it always awesome. *Side note, I normally order BBQ pork or a brisket bowl.* One star is lost for thier take out service. I was offered no sauces on the side and it didn't seem that they had any to-go portions so i had to grab mine from off the table and pour it onto my plate. It was still amazing, but I feel they should have to-go portions ready.

I don't know, but the only time I've eaten here I was quite unimpressed. In fact, I ate here years ago and what I distinctly remember is not liking the soup base or the meat. I prefer Pho Nam down the street.

  • Aarize D.

Must try their dry-pho! That is all I get from here (and also their, spring rolls). I cannot explain what is in their dry pho but it is very delicious. I don't even get their pho noodle soups ever since I tried the dry pho.

We felt like some Vietnamese food one hot evening. This restaurant was in the area so we decided to give it a try. It was 2/3 full on a Wednesday, which is not bad for a small neighborhood place. We started with an order of Spring Rolls. The rolls were fine, but the peanut based sauce didn't quite have the right flavor and consistency that I'm used to. Our meals: One order of Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken and Shrimp = Good flavor with the chicken and shrimp cooked just eight. One order of with Beef Pho Soup. Both were seasoned well, cooked to perfection resulting in a delicious light dinner. We totally enjoyed it. We will be back, this is a good place for a casual Vietnamese meal.

My colleague suggested coming here for lunch ~11:45 am to beat the lunch rush. Upon our arrival shortly before 12 pm, there was a short line out the door. We placed our order with our waiter before he showed us our table. Our food arrived shortly thereafter. Hu Tieu - Small - Noodles were perfectly cooked. - Crab claw and giant prawn were tasty. - Meat was tender - ...soup was merely okay, and left some to be desired... Iced Vietnamese Coffee w/ Condensed Milk - ...left a lot to be desired... ...flavor was bold, but the coffee tasted watered down... Note: CASH only!

Craving pho for lunch so I naturally came here since its 5 minutes away from where I work. Ordered the #6 with extra meatballs, they have no option where you can just get rare steak and meatballs. I also ordered their spring rolls. Peanut sauce was very good, I like that they have a spicy sauce on top. Very good variation. The spring rolls themselves were mediocre. Fresh ingredients, but hardly any flavor. They were pre made and refrigerated. The pho came out pretty fast, the accompanying condiments were fresh, especially the bean sprouts. Broth was pretty good, I had better, but it would suffice a pho craving. The meat was not as rare as I hoped, the meatballs were smaller and for a dollar more I expect more then 4 small pieces!! Service was standard Asian service, quick and not very attentive after that. Decor was the normal pho atmosphere with a little notch above average. Prices were normal as well, 8.50 for the bowl, the spring rolls were not on the menu, so I didn't know how much they costed until I paid for them. Just an average place.

The food was great and I've been a repeat customer up til the day where I nearly finished a chicken pho and a cockroach crawled up the side of the wall and up to the table near my bowl. Lost appetite immediately. I was trying to talk myself into it being a cricket and not a cockroach but I used to own bearded dragons...I know what crickets look like. :(

Came here twice just in case first time was a fluke because the location is better for me but both times I wish I drove farther to a different pho place. Big place and usually people there but recipes don't taste great. Meatballs blah, fresh spring roll sauce not good. I'm not vietnamese but I eat it often enough to know if the food is made well and it was just disappointing.

Waiter Rude, They Rush you to say a number on the menu when I clearly want won ton soup. He was so rude that we got up and left before the food came. First and Last time Ill come here.

My new favorite Pho spot! Don't let the long line during lunch discourage you. It goes by pretty quick. As for the Pho, it hits the spot, enough said. lots of choices for the meat and i always go with the large bowl. They also offer other items on the menu but I only come here for the pho. The place is decent in size and they move pretty quickly. There's a line to get in and another line to pay your dues after the meal.

Pho Queen is a restaurant that several of my friends like so I'd been meaning to try. We finally went a few weeks ago and it was... regular. It had average good Pho and pretty good hot tea but, there was just nothing that stood out and made me want to come back again. In places like this, I'd come back if service was really good, it had really good prices or a cool atmosphere but Pho Queen is just average across the board. I'd go back if a friend wanted to but wouldn't seek it out myself. Might see ya there.

Hmm we've been coming here for a long time and the service is usually acceptable but this last time I asked for some extra fried onions and the guy seriously gave me a dirty look and told me to ask for it when I order next time! Really?

Overpriced Pho, and the pictures look nothing like what you actually receive. The process of how to order is not well set up at all, as there's a window people are paying at yet there's another person seating you. Turns out they seat you, you order at the table then pay afterwards up at the front area. Everyone treats you as if they want to get you out of there quickly, the Pho is mostly broth and rubbery/dogfood-like pork, and yet it's still expensive. This was only my second time eating Pho but the first time was 2/3 the price and much much better back in the East Bay. You have to fend for yourself to figure out how anything here works, and the Pho (came to almost $11 after taxes) was subpar with bad ingredients and almost no components besides broth and ramen-quality egg noodles. It was close to my work, but I won't be back.

Considering how often I eat here, I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner! I'm here probably once a week or every other week. It's THAT good. So good that I have to restrict my carb intake and refrain from coming even more often than usual. Anyway, this is hands down the tied for 2nd best pho place I've ever been to! Usually I order #1 Medium soup or dry. Dry on a hot day. If I feel like I'm getting sick, I order the Pho Ga (chicken). When I'm feeling anything but normal or sick I like to try various things on the menu. Nothing has disappointed me yet!

The server (owner's son?) who takes our order has really bad attitude, not only that half of the group got stomach sick after eating there. Will not go there again.

I work down the road from this place and sometimes come here to get something to go. This is a Vietnamese pho place and restaurant. Unfortunately, as is typical, they are nice to their Vietnamese clientele and put on this stern facade for everyone else. But whatever. I come here for a Rice Pork Shrimp combo, toss $10 on the counter, wait a few minutes for them to make it and leave.

I love their pho broth, it's very clear. I usually get pho ga with meatballs (the chicken is super tender which is why I love this spot. Their hu tieu is really delicious too. Their service is quick and friendly. They have a lot of tables which is great so there isn't usually a long wait. There was one time I came in and they ran out of pho I was super shocked.

Overrated and always packed . I think most people go here since it's close to their office . The service is so rude it's comical. The spring rolls are really good and the pho is alright .

  • Louisa T.

WOW! I come here all the time, checked in and realized I never wrote a review for this place. hahahah Silly me. Anyways, Pho Queen actually has really good pho. I love the noodle soups and the fact that they come in 2 sizes, medium and large. The two sizes do have a slight difference in proportion, as opposed to other pho places that give you different size options, but really just fill a bigger bowl with more soup. The pho's are about $7 a bowl, and I usually get a #3 (which pretty much has everything). I also really like their iced Vietnamese coffee. It comes with a single cup dripper dripping coffee into an already prepared (with condensed milk) cup. You then mix the coffee and milk with a spoon, and pour it into the other cup they give you that's filled with just ice. It's pretty strong coffee, so don't say I didn't warn you. During the week day, lunch hours are crazy! There's always a line going out the door. I hate the wait. Weekends, or even dinner time are much better. The reason why it only gets 3 stars is because the service here really sucks. The waiters just want to get your order and get you out. Not particularly nice. But, because the food is good and the price is right, I try my best to look beyond the service when I go (which is pretty often).

I know it's a trite statement, but... this is the best pho in the Bay!! I was ruined about 5 years ago when I was first introduced to this place when it was terribly inconvenient to come down here and it ruined me for all other Pho. Now that I'm working in the neighborhood this has become my go-to Ppho spot and I couldn't be happier. All of my friends who are Pho devotees have a favorite spot that they claim is the best around and we end up in this game of I'll try your pho if you try mine to determine the best Pho around. Pho Queen always wins. It's not just good soup, it's soup you crave and think about when you're forced to have other Pho. Yes, the line goes out the door to the corner of the restaurant (there's not much room to stand inside the doors), but I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get in to eat. Yes, sometimes they are inconsistent with the number of shrimp that they put in a given bowl of soup. Yes, the parking lot is usually packed making just getting there a challenge. No, there is absolutely no ambiance whatsoever. With all of this in mind, it's still a 5 star Pho house. p.s. If you really want to blow your mind try a #22 large, dry, soup on the side.

I decided to venture out from "Pho Nam", the first and only place where I've eaten pho, and try "Pho Queen". The line of customers at the lunch hour speaks to the quality of their food. I ordered a soup I made up - pho noodles with chicken broth and shrimp. The broth is nice and comes piping hot, and the chefs added onion flakes and green onion to the soup, great flavor. The decor could use an upgrade and the speediness of "Pho Nam" is not there, but I would return.

  • Andrea C.

Enoy their Pho as well as the "dry" option very much. I work and live close by so I go alone as well as with my husband and 6 year old who loves the fresh lemonade and post-dinner chewy candies. Sometime it just really hits the spot and warms me all over. They are lightening fast and cheap but not the greatest ambiance. Also, you'd think after being in there a gazillion times, they'd treat me like family but i often feel like I'm just one of the masses. Doesn't stop us from going back.

It is very simple. Step 1: Wait in line Step 2: Read menu in line Step 3: Reach the front of line and place order Step 4: Follow server/host to table Step 5: Receive food within a minute of sitting Step 6: Eat quickly with little chit chat Step 7: Get up and head to cashier Step 8: Leave quickly so someone else may sit at you warm table These "Pho Nazi" know they have a cash cow here. The place is packed during lunch because the pho is good here. The service sucks. it's cash only. And they want you in and out of the place without a smile.

Yes, this place can be hugely busy at lunch time during the week. This time, we went on a Saturday for lunch and it was busy but not overly, and easy to park. The pho was very good- broth was fresh and flavorful, noodles were good. My friend had a version that had shrimp, and it came with several very large shrimp- a pleasant surprise! Everyone has their favorite places, and this is one of mine for reliably good pho. My only wish is that they would add beef stew to the menu.

  • Jenny R.

I've been here twice for lunch, and each time the parking lot has been a complete mess and there is a line out the door. Luckily, it seems that there is a constant stream of comings and goings so it isn't that difficult to stalk people leaving and take their spot. Pho Queen manages the line like a well oiled machine too - there's a guy who hands you a menu while you're in line and takes your order before you are seated. Efficient and time effective. Although when he took my friend's order he assumed she wanted a small, and when he took my order he assumed I wanted a large. Pho man thinks I look like a pig. I think I'm okay with that. Once seated, it is a matter of five minutes until the arrival of the pho, which is pretty standard.

Great Pho - interesting customer service. I do love this place...there is one older guy that works there and basically tells me what I'm going to order and drink. At first it rubbed me the wrong way but after going a few times the entire habit of it all cracks me up. Don't go prime lunch hours because the line is out the door...

First off this is a Vietnamese Pho Restaurant, meaning that it is fast food not gourmet 5 star wine and dine. For those who understand how a "Real Asian" restaurant work you need not get an explanation. For those who dont, you must understand that Pho is fast food and treated like a McDonalds or any other chain Americans have. The place is not meant to have great service, it is also not meant to be a place where tips are customary. Typically only $1-2 is a tip, not the 15-25% we are all accustomed too. Also the people working at these places are very lackadaisical and typically speak broken english. (the best places employees speak almost no english -as authentic as it gets) Also the way they work is you sit, you order, you eat, you walk to the register to pay, then leave. Its always a no frills type of place, normally you only interact with staff possible 1-2 times during your visit. There is actually more than one location, they have recently opened another in DTSJ. This location is a relatively easy to spot location with plenty of parking in a private lot. The place is relatively large for a Pho place and can easily seat 60 people of so. I came for lunch quite a while back and was seated promptly, typically it should always be this way, they just point to any open spot or you just sit down and they come with a menu. For the rookies always order by number or pointing to the menu, if you wanna get fancy and try to say the dish good luck. Vietnamese is all about pitch and the same word can mean different things depending on how you say it. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet Xe Lua (Large Special w/ EVERYTHING) because its typically always the best item on the menu. This is typically always #1 on almost all pho restaurant menu's. This includes noodles of course, slices of fatty brisket, boiled cartilage and tendon, flank steak, and tripe. These are the most typical meat included as they are typical fare. For those who are a bit wary or havent tried tendon/tripe you can always ask for for the same thing without those, but you are missing out! The flavor will be good, the texture is what most weterners cant handle. My food came very quickly because almost everything is pre-cooked and you just have to slap it together in a bowl and voila! (Hence fast food) The broth was decent and not extremely thin or bland, you cant expect gourmet like the homeade stuff. The noodles werent all stuck together as some other places; this is a good sign because it shows they cook the noodle just before serving as precooking and sitting will cause major clumping and that is no bueno. The amount of meat to noodle ratio was just right and the flank steak was added last. (Another good sign as the flank steak is cut extremely thin and cooks the second it hits hot soup, adding this first causes it to become tough by the time you eat it) They of course had all the standard sides/vegetables for the soup: Raw mung bean sprouts, sliced jalapenos, limes/lemon wedges, mint, beef plant (the one with a purple underside). Typically these should be extremely fresh as their shelf life is very low, unfortunately I came after the lunch rush and mine were a bit wilted... "/ They also have typical dipping sauces: soy, fish, sriracha smooth and garlic paste type, pickled jalapenos, and hoisin. Hot tea is always customary and served without being asked, I always ask for water as well because all authentic asian restaurants use MSG, yea thats right MSG! MSG! MSG! It is just a staple ingredient used in asian cooking, and if you can tell its in there because you get damn thirtsy from eating their soup. Overall this is definitely a good spot to grab some fast pho! Come before or after the lunch break 12-1pm because this place gets packed! Also its always best to bring cash, dont forget major tipping is not necessary! Order your flank steak on the side if possible so that you can cook it to your liking as you eat. (think hot pot!) Order some ice water because you WILL get thirsty because of our good friend Mono Sodium Glutamate. =)

Cash only and hidden charges. I stopped by for take out for a group meeting. I brought my own platters. As I was being rung up, Pho Queen added .25 twice to my bill. I'd order three dishes (two fresh rolls and one vermicelli with pork). I was told the extra charge was for the cost of take out containers. The cashier then described to me the cost of the styrofoam boxes and chopstick wrapped in a napkin. I did not require any take out boxes or chopsticks, so I pointed out that I brought my own containers. Can't say the food was good. I can say i don't like Pho Queens business practises and won't be back. I don't recomment this place for anyone. There are much friendlier vietnamese places all around. I love Silicon Valley.

I work at my family's Winery/Brewery around the corner, and it's an easy lunch if I'm working. I almost always order a #7 (pho with rare beef & flank) or a #20 (thick noodles, shrimp & pork.) I'm always happy with the freshness of the sides (They always have bean sprouts, basil, jalepenos & limes). I generally love to keep my broth pure, I don't add hoisin or sriracha but I do mix them up on the side to dip my meat. When it's really hot in the summer I love ordering the cold noodle salads with bbq pork, chicken or shrimp depending on my mood, but generally you can never go wrong with that soup. I'm always craving this place when I'm sick or if it's really cold. In fact now that i'm thinking about it, I really want some right now!

Can someone tell my why my heart is racing 100mph? I had a delicious bowl of Pho Ga for lunch today. After returning to my cube, I felt sharp pains in my chest and shortness of breath. MSG is a helluva drug!

This is one of the most consistent Pho restaurants in Santa Clara. It's never terrible but also there is nothing that really separates it from other Pho restaurants. One thing that I really enjoy here is the spring rolls. I really like the meat/shrimp/vermicelli ratio that they have here. You can taste all 3 elements really well without one overpowering the other. Also, this place is really busy during lunch on the weekday because of all the companies nearby. Come before 12 or after 1 to avoid the lunch crowd.

The meat packing plant efficiency is back! Last time I made this comment was for the all-too famous Pho Kim Long, which uses a very high-throughput procedure to process their customers. This one is on par with Pho Kim Long, if not better. The menus are handed to you while you are waiting outside. Not a terribly long menu with just enough substance and clarity to keep you busy while you are waiting. Once you go in, sit down, place your order, the bowl is in front of you in less than 5 minutes. I like my pho with tendon, tripe and the whole nine yard, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Aside from the usuall green chilli and bean sprouds, a few strips of celery are also offered. The soup is not as salty as most of pho places, which encourages me to actually drink most of it. At least when my buddy and I were there, no one came to take our bowls away, so we get to slow down a bit at the end of the pipeline and talk about international finance for a few minutes. It's a no-BS kind of restaurant that I always find appealing. 5-star for offering 4-star food and the quentiessential Asian dining experience.

This is a favorite place of ours. Usually I get the vermicelli noodle with grilled shrimp, my favorite. On our latest outing, I got 1 of the rice plates with grilled chicken, delicious and maybe my new regular dish. DH gets the pho and reports it's excellent.

3.5 Stars. You would get a 4, but there's this one waiter that always gives me the damn stink eye. Maybe, it's his style or attitude, I don't know. I even tip the guy. What did I do wrong???? But this place is probably one of the best PHO places I tried. They give you a good amount of noodles even with the regular bowl. Pretty good tasting and pricing is better than most places. and I love how they provide a lot of meat!!! Food I give 4 stars..but because of that waiter..3.5..sorry haha. Also, the noodles are softer than other places, which makes it easier to digest.

I usually don't try new pho places, but since this one is right by my house I decided to give it a try. There were a lot of ppl inside which is the first good sign. Second our spring rolls were really fresh, the kind that stick to your hands and u can smell the mint!YUM! Our pho was good, but I get the Pho Tai and it means rare steak, when I received my pho the steak was already well done which I don't like because it's too tough for my liking. The soup was also not very hot which should be esp when it's raining outside. But the staff were very friendly and took our order quickly and promt! ALSO FYI they are CLOSED on SUNDAYS, like many restaurants in Sunnyvale are, why?? Someone please let me know.

If its raining or you are sick ( aka hung over) then Pho is always the answer. I have gone to this place and its your typical Pho restaurant. They get you in and get you out as fast as they can. I always order the chicken pho its bombtastic, however, nothing beats homemade of course. Only problem is the crowd during lunch is horrible line is wrapped around the building. If you come after 11:50 am forget about it go somewhere else. Plus parking is a pain. Repeat Offender Pho-Life ahaha

Average pho period. The venue is like any other typical vietnamese restaurant. They do have plasmas in here though, unfortunately they weren't on for me to watch during this lunch outing so I just tried to eat my food and move on. As suspected, service was nowhere to be found. The process went; get seated, order, be served, eat, go to them to pay, and leave. I ordered a pho tai nam gan. The meat wasn't really plentiful but it tasted ok. The well done meat was kinda rubbery from the fat and the tendon was horrible. Some of the worse tendon I ever had. $17 for 2 regular phos and a soda chanh. I left completely unsatisfied with thoughts of Pho Y#1 and Ca Mau in my head...

I am really surprised to see that this place is so highly rated. I've been here twice, both times before they took credit card which I absolutely cannot stand....and both times it was pretty bad. If you do end up here I guess the pho is the only thing that is worth ordering....the rest of the dishes seemed to be lacking....they even seemed to skimp on the goi cuon...although it seems like a lot of pho places seem to do the same thing. With the amount of Vietnamese restaurants around the area I'm sure you can find better...

Those of you yelpers upset about a mediocre service and a lack of cleanliness at a pho joint are totally off your rockers. This is a place with solid pho and great prices (2 people for dinner after tax and tip was well under $20), and ridiculously fast to boot. Being cash only, not being super clean, having questionable decor, and a waitstaff that aren't the most friendly or super excited to serve you huge steaming bowls of deliciousness are what they have to do to keep the prices down. You're at a pho joint, not the French Laundry, so sit down, shut up, and slurp your broth like everyone else. Most pho places seem to have great broth or great meat, but rarely both. This place does a solid job of doing both components well. This place is right next to the place that my girlfriend and i take our puppy for obedience classes, so i imagine we'll be hitting this place pretty often. BTW, the vietnamese coffee (thick, dark, strong, moka-pot like coffee with sweetened condensed milk over ice) is especially delicious here.

  • Derek R.

PRETTYMOTHERFACKINGGOOD! Had the special #1 based on one of the pics provided by a loyal yelper. It did not dissapoint. I facking loved the prawn and crab claw. The chicken left a little bit to desire, I got some funky shit. The broth was also pretty facking good. I also loved the dudes running the shit. It was great ambiance having them go crazy speaking in vietnamese while watching football. It was a great experience but minus 1 star for the funky chicken.

One could call me picky. One could also say I'm unadventurous with my food. I consider myself to be someone who just knows what they like. So, I always get the #28, which is a simple egg noodle soup. Their egg noodles are cooked well and are flavorful, a perfect compliment to the not-overly-oily broth. I love coming here when I'm a bit under the weather--yum!

The worst service ever! unpolite and rude. Talk you bad in vietnamese if you are not vietnamese. Gave me attitude when I order togo. Because they won't get tips. But they actually over charged me twice when I order togo. They added tips themselves. Do not eat here!

I was debating whether to give 3.5 or 4 stars to Pho Queen (perhaps not a large-sounding difference, but in my mind 4 stars is still a cut above 3 or 3.5), and I decided to give it 4. Although there are a plethora of pho places in the South Bay, Pho Queen does do things a bit better than a lot of them. First of all, the soups are good. And when you order a large, it really is a large (i.e. there IS more meat and pho). At other places, it seems like a large only gets you more soup, which isn't worth it. Secondly, the fried egg rolls are EXTREMELY tasty. I always get these when I come here. They taste homemade and definitely not chalky or dry like other places. Third, the drinks are surprisingly strong. Quite a unique range of smoothies, and their iced coffee is neither too intense nor too bland. Just right at the edge of the intensity that is Vietnamese iced coffee. The rice dishes are a tad generic, but most pho places don't have great rice dishes so I can't penalize them for that. The last bonus is that they DO accept credit cards, and for someone like me who doesn't carry much cash as a general rule of laziness/forgetfulness, this is a big plus.

I wonder if they put Ambien in their food because five minutes into the ride home, my mom, who was the one driving, declared, "OMG, I want to close my eyes!!!" ...Afternoon catnaps ensued. She vows never to eat here again believing that she was "poisoned with MSG" (or Ambien, my guess). I wanted bun cha gio (vermicelli noodle with egg rolls) but they didn't have egg rolls, as in, not on the menu. That was first! I've never been to a Vietnamese restaurant that didn't have egg rolls. Ended up ordering bun thit nuong (vermicelli noodle with grilled pork) and that was pretty good. Also got a pho to go but the broth was so salty! Lemon/lime recommended. Still cash only.

There is a lot of Pho King around town. Not just in the South Bay, where you expect to see Pho King, but there is more and more Pho King attracting people all over the place. Everybody likes Pho King! But it is about time people stopped pleasuring themselves with all the Pho King, and tried Pho Queen! Gawdangit! Troi oi! No, this is not a Gay Viet noodle house! And it is not where the ladies are the only ones getting all the good stuff on top! No, it is like JAHVE! (Not the ancient name for God, it stands for Just Another High-tech Valley Engineer) So Pho Queen is like JAPS. (No, not the name for those guys who bombed Pearl Harbor! And No, that doesn't stand for a girl with dark hair and big nose who's dream house is 3,000 square feet and no kitchen!) JAPS is Just Another Pho Soup. I used to work in Sunnyvale off Lawrence Expressway, and I could walk here for lunch. So I used to come here once a week for Pho. That was way back before it was sold and the name was changed to Pho Queen. The old place had a gregarious owner who had a cute, sexy daughter who would tease the male clientele. (And it wasn't even called Pho King!) The place was a dump, but cheap. They sold it and the new Pho Queen owners spruced it up with new tables and chairs. But all the workers are the same. The young tall one with Elvis Presley hair, the older guy with the smiling face who smokes outside, the other older guy who works hard. They all still recognize me. The Pho never got worse or better. The menu did expand greatly, though. And it is cleaner. There are two other Pho places within two blocks of here, but this is the most popular, especially at lunch time.

This place is one of the more cleaner places out there. These are my usual lunches that I get here that I recommend: #8 steak and brisket pho. #40 Rice plate shrimp and pork. Bathroom is kinda messy so make sure you eat first. Be sure you bring cash cause they don't except cards. Tax purposes :) Other then that I'll be back.

Ahhhh yes! Nothing like a bowl of noodles to satisfy the hunger! I've come to this place for years! Mainly because I worked nearby, but also because the food is fast, reliable, and will always taste the same. Yes, there's something to be said about food that is consistently good. I'm not a fan of the service, though, probably because the servers always seem super bored and impatient. And if you've been here enough, you'll know that the servers are completely addicted to lottery scratchers. This seems to almost side-track their focus on the customer. Watch them closely, you'll see... They're used to herding customers in-and-out quickly to make room for the next rush. This place on any given day is PACKED for lunch, so be prepared to wait -- although once you know your favorite meal, you can order immediately and will be eating quickly once you finally get seated.

Had #20, which was a special noodle with lean pork, shrimp and chicken, with soup. The special noodle is a thicker noodle, but more narrow than the typical wide rice noodle. Anyway, that was a great choice. A medium filled me up. But what I'm REALLY writing here about is the HOT SAUCE that they have. NO, not sriracha, but the hot sauce that they have in the small tub. I'm the hugest hot sauce fan, and I think this one had a hint of lemongrass in it, which I LOVE!!! I would come back again just for the hot sauce! NOM!

I used to work really close to this place and would take my lunch early to avoid the lines; but even if you get there and there is a line they move quick. I always get the seafood pho..they don't skimp too much on the the seafood which is always a big plus. -1 star since it's cash only.

i love going to this place on a cold day. Nothing like hot Pho to warm you up. Like other people have said, there are other Pho places nearby but Pho Queen, I think, is the best in the area. The service is fast (sometimes too fast), the food is good and the prices are great. I always get the number 7 and sometimes I like to add the spring roll because of the peanut sauce that comes with it. Get there before the lunch rush or after. I try to get there by 11:45 or after 12:45. I have been there, standing at the end of a long line at the peak of lunch hour but the line always moves pretty fast. The wait staff could use some sharpening but hey, when you're paying $6 for lunch, what do you expect? They know me there by now so I know what to expect. Step 1: Order before you sit down Step 2: Eat your food and don't expect refills on water, etc. Step 3: Don't lallygag after you're done eating because there are people waiting outside Step 4: If you do lallygag, you'll get the evil eye from the staff Step 5: Bring cash because that's all they take. Pay at the register as they don't bring the bill to your table. If they do have to bring you the bill, it's a sign that you've overstayed your welcome. I love this place. I go there about once a week with a consistent experience.

I am not too crazy about this place though the line is always out the door during lunch time. I guess they are conveniently located by business/commercial areas. anyhow, I dont find anythign particularly great with their Pho other than they bring it out to you lightening fast...but you have to eat fast cuz you feel bad taking up the table while a load of people are lining up outside trying to sit down for food... The broth is above average, they give you a good portion but I have to say their beef was dry (like cardboard) today...I am sure it's not like this everyday so I am still giving them 3 stars. 2/4/10 UPDATE: Why do I ALWAYS get so much less than my friend we when both order a Large? This happened not once, not twice, but EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am tired of this treatment. I get a lot less noodle and chicken. While your noodle soups are good, I will not take this unfairness. hmmmph

THIS PLACE IS FUCKING NASTY! DON'T EAT HERE. WE USUALLY COME HERE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON BUT A WEEK AGO WE WENT AND THERE WAS HAIR IN BOTH MINE AND MY LITTLE COUSINS SOUP. AND THE ONE IN MINE WAS SOO LONG. WTF. EW. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. You can already tell this place is dirty by looking at the servers and their dirty hands and etc. The man's hands were practically IN MY SOUP while he was serving it. Gross. And they're always outside smoking and I don't see them washing their hands after. And always snorting and ew gross nasal noises all the time. EWW just thinking about it.

When my family recently moved from Cupertino to Sunnyvale, we wanted to find a place that had pho for a reasonable price. I'm not too picky as some people are and although this place isn't astounding, the quality and quantity you get is worth a little more than what you pay for. The waiters are alright, but can you really expect that much out of typical Asian waiters? They don't look you in the eye or have great manners, but it's not like they disrespect you that much. The soup is good although I'm sure it's infused with AT LEAST a little MSG. The meat tastes mostly fresh and is still tender. It's a nice little place and they've got lots of seats to accommodate for the usually long lines, especially during lunchtime.

I should've gotten a bowl of pho, but I've been rather pho'ed out with all the nasty cold weather. So I ordered a bowl of hu tieu nam vang. There weren't enough noodles, the broth was a pool of MSG, and the meat was chewy. Bad choice, I know. My compadres ordered the rice plates and much to their dismay, the meat was probably even older and chewier than mine.

The broth is not as good as some of the other pho houses that i've tried before. I was a little annoyed while I am eating my pho, one of the workers decided to refill the table stand with spoons, chop sticks and forks in front of my face a few times. Geezzz, can he have waited until I left the joint!!!

I haven't had pho this good since Pho Pasteur in the 90's, but they're long gone... Obviously, you don't go to a Vietnamese restaurant and expect amazing service, but they're not too bad here. The servers speak mediocre English, but it's enough. Question: Why do pho restaurants always use those fake green marble tables? Ugh... Anywho, they don't take long to take your order or waste any time making small talk, they're straight to business. These guys have to hustle too because Pho Queen gets insanely packed during lunch hour. Their menu is pretty standard; everything you can expect from a pho restaurant. I do suggest getting the iced Vietnamese coffee here though. It's AMAZING and will give you such a great wired high all day! No crash! If you're like me and sensitive to MSG, I would highly recommend Pho Queen. It is one of the very few pho restaurants that doesn't leave me with a numb face and nauseous stomach all day.

I work pretty close by, so I stop by here every Friday or every other Friday. - The pho is okay. Nothing special. - Servce is relatively quick. They're not all that friendly though. You can tell they want you in and out as fast as possible. - Once you get your food, they're not going to talk to you again. If you need something, wave a waiter down. - If you customize your order, don't be suprised if they get it wrong. - It gets very crowded here around lunch time. If you need an option B, I recommend Chef Lee or Gobi Mongolian BBQ in the same plaza. - Cash only. Pay at the cashier, don't even bother asking for a check. This place is decent tasting and decently priced. It gets busy and they just want you in and out as fast as possible and they don't try to hide this fact. Try to avoid lunch time.

"Pho Queen" is an UNDERSTATEMENT... because it's really, REALLY "PHO KING" good!!! Sorry... I couldn't help myself, but throw that in for shits and giggles... So let me get this review STRAIGHT - I've not tried anything else EXCEPT a DRY #1... and let me tell you - THAT'S the reason the damned line extends out the door during lunch time most days. "What's with the hype over this mystical-unicorn dish everyone seems to seek at the same time?" you ask? ...lend me your ears and stomachs, my good friend... and let me enlighten you. The bf and his cohorts kept bugging me to go here, and I was once a non-believer, thinking, "Great - another stupid pho restaurant outside of SJ..." [My momma says if it's not in SJ, it's not good Vietnamese food.] I finally succumbed and let them order for me - and what they brought out to the table was a feast for my eyes! Giant shrimp/prawns(?), cleaned and butterflied beautifully [the thing was the size of my fist!]... a crab claw (you get more w/ a large portion)... pork... rice noodles... veggies... sauce... a side of soup... mmm... The contents of the bowl looked so clean... so pristine... it was HEAVEN! Now, maybe my tastebuds appreciated this meal far more than I should have because the restaurant is actually clean VS. Nam Vang... and maybe I felt better because my food was not glazed over with a pool of oil, but I definitely appreciated this find in Sunnyvale. I miss SJ terribly, [I don't drive there unless I have to], but this really does fill that little hole in my heart for the food in the hood - "Where it's ALL GOOD!"

My bf and and stopped here for dinner tonight. Walking through the door, I noticed some strange scent which was off putting. But we were in the mood for something lighter than Mongolian BBQ so we went with the pho. It was much better than we expected. We got take out.. He got the combo pho while I got the grilled chicken vermicelli. Both were tasty.

  • Michael C.

Not alot of flavor; basically hot water (not even broth) with meat and veggies. I added a fair amount of hot sauce available at the table to give it some flavor. This was my first Pho-specific restaurant, so I'm not sure if I was unimpressed with the food or the style. I'd try again and get something else. The restaurant itself looked a bit grimy, especially the utensil holders on the tables. Yuck; looks like they're never washed. Don't expect much out of the service - serious language barrier. Mostly smileless grunts and nods.

I've tried many pho restaurants since moving down to the South Bay (10 years!) This is by far one of the best pho restaurants I've tried. The broth is what keeps me coming back. Tasty, flavorful, non-greasy and hot! I'm not a pho person, more like a vermicelli person. Nothing beats a good bowl of pho with soup when a light meal is desired.

DAAANG. this place has lines out the door, around the corner! Well thats if you go during the busy lunch our where all the cool techy company peeps go for lunch. I kinda didn't feel for it anymore because i know that we would hafto wait super long cuz we had at least 8 heads with us. But surprisingly their service was very superb! Sadly they had to move these 4 other people's table 2 times and this other couple one time so we can get our table. now THATS great service.haha i sure would hate to be them. But we ordered and food came out at a decent time. I ordered the flank steak soup which is for all the people that don't really know what else to get. The most simple and safe. The taste was alright, I've had better. I'm Vietnamese and according to us..there's always some other better pho place we know! I recommend coming here..just avoid 12-2pm monday thru friday and your good to go! note: parking sucks.

First time here, place was great. I'll surely come back. Like the other pho places, not a fan of cleanliness but other than that, pho broth, noodles, service was good. Wasnt the best but i can't complain! I go to school down the street, and id take this place over Pho kang which is also on Tasman. Only reason why 3 stars is its pretty similar to other pho places so i can pretty much go any where for this kind of noodles. It wasn't off the charts so couldnt rate it 4stars. Have yet to try their rice plates, but ill be back for more.

On a Pho kick right now. Well I've always loved Pho to be honest. Working late again and decided to try another Pho place nearby. This place isn't bad. Nothing eye popping but it's good. I'd compare it to a Tung Kee type place. I always base a Pho restaurant on their broth since that's what really makes the soup. Noodles are pretty much the same wherever you go. The broth here was good. Had a bit of minty aftertaste to it which I enjoyed, especially since it was a spicy soup. I had the Spicy Beefball soup.....YUM! If it wasn't for the broth I'd swear I was eating at a TK Noodle. Not a bad thing at all, was just hoping for something a little more traditional Vietnamese is all. When I first walked in I was greeting to the sound of people slurping their soups. Always a nice comforting sound for some reason. If you go here bring $CASH$ because they don't take plastic. The guy behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to give him my debit card ha ha. Not a big deal just have cash handy. Can't blame them for not wanting the credit card companies screwing them over. Good cheap place. Little small on portions and the menu is small but not a bad place for a $7 large Pho. I should also mention that they get your order FAST. I got there at 8:55pm, they close at 9PM. They had my soup by 8:57 PM :) I'd still recommend Pho-Binh just up the street over this place though. However this is a decent place and worth a try.

Decent local Pho joint. No frills, but reasonably clean and very fast. Food is fresh. Does not carry fried egg rolls -1 A few of the workers smoke right outside and the smoke carries into the restaurant -1 Other than that, a great place that is open relatively later that most with Pho noodle soup you can count on. If I had my choice, I would go to Pho Nam near Michael's, but that wouldn't be close to home.

Ive experience better customer service by a night club bartendar than at this vietnamese resteraunt. I even got shorted change without permission. lol The food is good but it seems like they try to hard to emulate TK noodle. Overall the its a good pho place but the service just sucks.

  • MH C.

It's hard to find both good Pho and service with a smile. These guys are always very friendly and we've come here so much, they know who we are and bring our drinks out right away. The service is fast. We always ask them to boil the bean sprouts first (my mom likes them that way) and they always do it with a smile. I usually get Pho and the noodles are the right hard-ness, broth is good and they give you ample meat. I'm usually pretty full with a regular. Their spring rolls are fresh, but a little on the small side. This place is packed during lunch time, but the line moves pretty fast. For no wait, you can try them during dinner time.

I wasn't going to bother writing, but I'm still miffed about this even after a few days. They wrote my order down incorrectly and when I told them they gave me the wrong thing, they were rude about it. If they don't understand English that well, please repeat the order to confirm and avoid confusion. There's nothing like rudeness to ruin a dining exprience.

i've come here many times over the past 10 (?) years. i've lost track of when the visits began, but they will continue... as others have noted, the pho is good, not great. service is simple and prompt (you leave tips in a tip jar up front, so it's up to you to decide what you think is fair). what makes this a 4-star place is that their grilled meat noodle dishes are to die for. i'm partial to #32, which is grilled chicken. it tastes like the chicken has been marinated for weeks (it's not, else i'm sure my stomach would have rebelled many times), and it so flavorful. so is their dipping sweet and spicy sauce. the best grilled chicken vermicelli i've ever had any Pho place (and trust me, i've been to many). if i want better pho, i might go elsewhere, but i you want to try something that will keep you coming back (i don't know how many friends who i've introduced it to who agree), try one of their grilled meat noodle dishes. you won't be disappointed.

The place gets really busy at lunch I've heard, but at dinner it was pretty dead. Probably because my group got there about 40 minutes before closing. I ordered the medium brisket pho, and it tasted average - I couldn't tell the difference between that and the brisket pho I get at Pho Hoa (sad, I know). The noodles were all congealed in a ball in the soup, I had to work to get the noodles unstuck. The plus side was that there was a lot of meat in the bowl. My boyfriend and our friends seemed to really like the pho they got, so maybe it was just me and my taste buds were dead that night. Another nice perk is that the restaurant was really nice to us. We stayed about 20 minutes past closing without realizing where the time had gone, and we were the only patrons in the store, but they didn't kick us out!

"Pho Q" *evil grin* is always a great lunch time place, and that probably explains why it is impossible to find a parking space, and the line is always so long. But I have to hand it to them for making that line move through pretty quickly. Today, I decided to be a bit more adventurous, and tried the #19 chicken based pho. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I have ever had pho with chicken in it before, but what caught my eye on this one was that it also included chicken gizzard, heart, and liver. The chicken broth was fine, but nothing spectacular, but I am a big fan of chicken hearts, and there was plenty of it in my soup. I can't say that it was a great bowl of noodles, but it definitely hit the spot. I've been here before in the past, and I will be back here again in the future.

Great place to eat noodles for cheap. My girlfriend is from Laos, and she lived in Thailand for two years. She is extremely difficult to please when it comes to noodle houses. She will not eat at over ten different noodle places I have taken her, because she hates the quality of the noodles, poor service, or the quantity of food for the money. Here the noodle quality is high, service is fast, and quantity of food for $6.00 is great. I'm just relieved there is a noodle house she likes close by, so I do not need to drive 20 miles anymore.. Whew! Try it out you will like it I'm sure!

Pho Queen get's 5 stars for their Pho Ga. That's all I order from there and I always order to go. But for those of you who like Pho Ga, Pho Queen has VERY GOOD Chicken Noodle Soup! They use chicken breasts and it's nicely cooked, very tender. The soup is delicious! Not too salty at all. If Pho Ga is your pho of choice... Try them out.

I'm not into the funky stuff...you know what I'm talking about. The stuff the coyotes leave on the ground when they've eaten everything they like...I don't want that in my soup. I'm a regular kind of guy, and that what i come here for. This place kicks ass. Always a line, always fast service, always good noodle soup. Perfect on a cold rainy day. Anytime someone comes from out of town and is wants Vietnamese food, this is the place. You'll thank me later.

This is the closest pho joint in my neighborhood. They're not Pho Tau Bay or Pho Long but I guess they fix the cravings, sort of. Their pho is not that flavorful as it can be, and the service...well you don't go to pho restaurants for service now do you?

    (3)
  • Stanley C.

I've gone and tried their dry noodles and I have to give it a big thumbs up! Whether it's the grilled pork or grilled chicken, they give you a ton, so your belly will be well satisfied, and to make it even better, it doesn't taste too shabby! A good example where quantity doesn't destroy quality! Enjoy!

  • Brad M.

This is our ad ops go to pho place. Pho is good, and dry noodles are great! I get #1 which is amazing seafood w/ dry or #33 which is shrimp with dry. Get there early for lunch because the line stretches around the building by noon. For drink, I always get the lemon soda which is a lump of sugar, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and a can of canada dry club soda...surprisingly good!

I'm not one of those people who wants the waiter coming over every 10 minutes asking if everything is ok. I don't really care if you don't come to me while I eat. I just want my food. If there's anything else I need I'll ask. So a few of the comments previous yelpers have said about service doesn't really apply to me personally. Ok so on to the review. The place is called "Pho Queen." So naturally I go there for pho. Anything else on the menu I can't really vouch for. As for my pho, its always good! It's also at a convenient location (near Mission College) so right around lunch time its just a quick drive. It seems to be a quick drive from a million other work places too though! Lines out the door! But its always worth it if your starving.

Hmmmm...the food was not bad but you will end up paying more than you think somehow.. .whether it is some hidden charge or having to go down to the liquor store for cash and getting charged 2 bucks more. I mean really, This place needs to learn how to absorb a bit or charges that comes along with allowing credit/debit cards..

  • Arlene H.

Okay, so I'm not Vietnamese... but i can say that this place is one of the places I trust to get my regular fix for meat or seafood pho and chicken and vegetables over rice noodles. I usually get the iced coffee and my friend craves the mixed tropical fruit and beans dessert drink. All in all a solid establishment. quick. filling. yum. Great, relatively quick place to go for lunch, I'm constantly running into other friends and coworkers here for over 5 years now... One birthday, I kept having different friends treat me here because it's reasonably priced. About the third time I showed up, I finally pulled out my wallet to pay up front (cash only) and one of the servers joked "about tiiiiime" 0: )

Great local Pho restaurant. I live within a few miles of 5-6 Pho places (that I know of) and this place never disappoints. Their broth is very tasty and noodles always fresh. They compliment the bowl with a huge plate of veggies too! I usually order the spring rolls in which they serve with a unique-to-me peanut sauce that is also very good.

  • Eddie L.

Like most pho joints in the area, this place is well priced, ridiculously fast, and lacking in service. The one thing it DOES have compared to all the other places is a fatty line out the door every day. If you plan on coming for lunch on a weekday, arrive before 11:45. So I'm not a pho connoisseur but I eat what tastes good and it tastes good. My friend says it's all in the broth and I'll admit that the broth here does taste a little better than other places but if you asked me to describe why, I'll look at you like this O_O I had the beef ball pho most recently and my friends both had the number 3. We all agreed that the pho was slightly above average. My friend had the ice coffee but that was just ok. It wasn't all that for me but to me, pho is just pho. I know, I'm sure that's blasphemous to some of you. I apologize. But hey, don't take my word for it. Just look at the line of people waiting in the rain.

  • Mike O.

I work in the area and this is the best Pho place around. I've tried a couple others and always make my way back to Pho Queen. The service is fast, the Pho is good, spring rolls and peanut sauce are amazing. If you are in a rush I would recommend trying to get there a little before the lunch time (12pm) rush, because the line will be out the door. Don't feel frightened by the wait staff as there can be a language barrier at times, but they always get you what you need. On a side note: Ask them for Lemons, and watch them bring you Limes, it's kind of funny.

I don't get it. The soup was bland, meat was scarce and service was below average for a Vietnamese place. Why this place is crowded is a mystery to me. Go to Pho Y in San Jose to have resl pho.

An ordinary Pho place conviniently located on Lawrence & Tasman. I've only had their Pho once but it was above average in my books. Quick service and a lot of space at this place.

Great place to grab pho for lunch and its quick too. Don't be discouraged if there's a long line, you will get your food quickly, especially since they take orders while you wait for a table. Usually places only make Beef Pho that tastes good, but the seafood one is pretty good here, its flavored in an onion broth and you get a huge piece of shrimp and a piece of real crab! cash only

I've been to this place at least 10 times. The portion is pretty decent (more on the bigger side). I usually go during Lunch on the weekdays because my work place is right by there and boy it gets soo pack around 12! There's a long line waiting for seats. Because it's soo crowded, the service is slower than other Pho Restaurants. Also, there isnt that many Vietnamese Restaurants near by to compete with. I would say go here if it's convienent but San Jose definately has the best Pho restaurants.

  • Ron R.

If you are looking for fast and cheap.....this is a great place, especially on a cold day. Although, try to come before noon or you'll be standing outside in line waiting for a table. This is definitely not the place to go if you're looking for impeccable service, but it's definitely worth the price.

3.5 stars. It's has been quite a while since my last trip here and I am not sure if I will ever return after my truly disappointing soup noodles. Consistency is always a problem at these types of places, and it seems quality has slipped since they opened another restaurant.

Another popular lunch spot when in the Valley. Good Vietnamese food, have always had fun with co-workers here. Quick service, cheap, and clean. Complaints are parking and the cash only thing. Have had better Vietnamese food, but this place is convenient and cheap. Not much to complain about, pretty clean for a hole in the wall. Recommend it if you are in the area. Have been here at least a dozen times or so.

I am beyond what one would call a "regular" here, to the point where the cashier, the waiters, the bus boys & even the fake plants around the restaurant all know me & my group of Pho-lovin' girls. So the reasons why I love this large hole in the wall are: actually has a pretty good capacity; the flow from order taking, to food preparation, to customers eating and leaving is pretty efficient that even if you see the line wrap around the corner, you know you will still be eating in less than 10 minutes; the waiters make me and the girls feel like family (but that might be because they know us now); and the food. My fave dishes are the shrimp/pork/chicken soup w/ egg noodles (I always order the large even though its too much for me to eat but I eat it all up anyway cuz its too good to NOT eat it all) and the grilled pork rice plate.

  • Brian S.

Best lunch place near my office - only challenge is that the line can be a little bit long. Be careful when ordering, though - some of the wait staff seem to have some difficulty with English (not necessarily a bad sign in an ethnic restaurant) and if you're not ordering by number, you run a risk of getting something a bit different from what you asked for.

I came here a few times and thought the Pho was average... nothing special. Last time I came here I saw a cockroach on the floor crawling around having the time of its life. Peace out... A town... I'm going somewhere else. Also, from what I hear from friends... the service was really bad for them. I never paid attention to the service here.

I have been coming here since I have worked in the area (12 years). This place is solid. It's known for one of the best tasting broths in the area. I normally eat pho here so I cannot speak to the other dishes, although coworkers loved the pork chop and rice dishes. The service is fast, make sure you get here before 11:45 or else stand in line where they will provide you menus so you can order right when you walk in the door. They do a pretty good tracking of what you ordered and where you sat. The host/cashier is a very nice guy and always has a smile. I always run into coworkers here and often see our VP's eating some pho.

UPSIDES: Best portions of meat, good broth, quick service. Good location. Food: No matter which you order the food is quite good and the amount as mentioned is generous. DOWNSIDES: Insanely busy at lunch, but they take your order outside while you wait in line, so you don't have to wait long. Close at 9pm or earlier, sometimes at 8:45-8:50pm (you've been forewaned) Too many restaurants in one small strip mall. Planning dept in Sunnyvale should be flogged (another example is the corner mall that took over Olson's Cherries-this one is worse!) Typical, plain ugly inside Vietnamese noodle shop decor. SUGGESTIONS: Spend a little money and make it less ugly!

Just went there again last week for the revisit. I still have to keep my review for these guys at 3-stars... This time, I had wanted to try the regular Pho, rather than the "special" seafood thing. I ordered a #3 - the Pho Dac Biet, the staple Pho combo noodle soup. This time, they didn't make me and my friend wait 25 minutes. They just brought me the wrong food. I had received the seafood special with the rice noodles. I didn't complain since I did want to try the rice noodles on the seafood instead of the egg noodles eventually. That was the plan for visit #3. Verdict: Egg noodle better than Rice noodle on the seafood combo. All in all, the food was still good. But there was another service failure. Will still go back again to try the Pho Dac Biet. This time, I'm not taking the seafood combo as substitute!

So I decided to come here for lunch since my dad said this was a better option than Pho Nam but in all honesty after I finished lunch, I thought it was ok but nothing seems to compare to Pho Y. I ordered the #7- pho with the regular meat and the lean brisket. overall the broth was definitely not my favorites among all the pho restaurants I've been to. The portion of meat given was a little on the stingy side. The Vietnamese fresh spring rolls were really skinny and the peanut sauce not as tasty as others. Eeh I guess if I had to take my pick and choose between this or Pho Nam down the street I would go with Pho Nam. Also, it's cash only but most of these pho places are so that shouldn't be too much of a surprise. For those looking for a pho with other meat options besides beef, this place offers a seafood and a chicken version.

Delicious, hot and fast! This is where we go when we crave Pho. Our 2 year old daughter is a pho connoisseur and my MIL suggested this place knowing that. I just wish they had fried egg rolls but their spring rolls are always fresh and tasty. I've had the pho here as well as the pork vermicelli. The sauces are tasty with just enough spice. Eventually we will venture out to other Pho places but if it ain't broke, I don't fix ;) They also welcome their regulars enthusiastically! Oh and cheap too!

This place sucks. The portions are small, food is bland and bad service. On top of that, they only take cash. Go to Pho Nam for better food

Average pho...nothing special really. I couldn't believe the long lines. I find that this place is over rated and that i've had much better pho before. ie: Pho Thanh Long on El Camino / San Tomas...their soup is much better. I think the long lines around pho queen during the weekdays is due to all the companies in the area. Over all, nothing outstanding....I'm sure you can find a better pho place.

Another one that didn't measure up to my all-time fav in Houston, Pho Binh! Watered down soup and mediocre food was just meh...

This is my go-to place for pho when I'm at work. It's so close to the office, we just take Caribbean and it takes like 5 minutes to get there. While I prefer other pho places, the convenience is key. I normally get the #1, which is supposedly their special. They have chicken, pork, prawns, in a different broth than the pho (I think it's pork?). Order that one dry, with soup on the side so that noodles don't get soggy. Other plates are pretty standard. Nothing special. Not bad. The line can get pretty ridiculous, but it actually goes by pretty fast since the service is speedy. They even take your order while you're in line so that by the time you sit down, they'll have your order ready. Oh man, how I wish that Pho Kim Long was closer to work.

  • Dave K.

I've found the way to get rich! Order a large pho tai from Pho Queen over the phone. Come in person and pay the $6.77 with $10.02. The cashier will be confused and give you $3.79 back. Repeat this process 1,851,852 more times and you've got yourself a cool million. Oh yeah, and the pho was ok.

I have been to this place ever since it was called (probably under a different management) Pho King. No, I am not kidding :) Yes, it used to be the King, and now it is the Queen. Unlike when it was the King, the Queen serves not only Pho, but also many rice plates as well as dry rice noodles (vermicelli). If you are looking for a quick affordable lunch ($6 ~ $7 per person), this is one of the better places in the area. The services are generally prompt though it can be spotty from time to time especially during busy lunch hours. So, if you can, it is better to avoid the lunch rush hour and wait until after 1pm. As for the food, it is an average Vietnamese restaurant. I recently had their rice vermicelli with grilled chicken and shrimp ($8.75). I have had much better one else where, so wasn't very impressed with it. If you are really used to some other good ones, you will probably be disappointed.

As a real pho fan forever (FFF), Pho Queen surely meets my standards when it comes to the pho. Serving size is reasonable, pricing is cheap, soup is very tasty and not uber obvious dashes of MSG (do they ever use this anyway anyplace?). Located almost in the middle of nowhere...hehehe. Parking isn't so bad as it is, like I said, almost in the middle of nowhere. The line gets to extend to outside the restaurant during lunch time, like there's an autograph signing of some sort. Mostly male staff, friendly BUT can sometimes give you a sour look (more sour than the lime for the pho) when you don't tip generously. Errr, I hope they don't read this review and recognize me... the last thing I need is a trust issue between me and my soup. Their service is fast and the place is clean enough for me to keep my apetite. They only accept cash, so don't be rolling in here with your AMEX and expect to feed your battalion of pho lovers from 12th floor. CASH only.

this place is a few blocks from my work, and worth the occasional visit if I want to order out. I wouldnt recommend eating in. the service is pretty limited, they definitely want you in and out as soon as possible. if you are unsure about what you want on the menu, they dont have the time to explain it to you. my coworker asked for water from one of their harried wait staff and the guy rolled his eyes. didnt ever bring the water. i guess that means tipping is purely optional. if you come anytime between 11 and 2, expect a line of about 20 people out the door. you can call in your order in advance, I would recommend it. they only take cash. the barbeque shrimp and the grilled chicken on vermicelli are all ive had, both decent. im not a fan of pork or soup, so i cant say much about the rest of the menu.

Pho always comes to mind whenever the weather gets cold. We don't live far from this place, but it's located in a funky strip mall that usually has a line out the door during lunch hour and very hard to find a parking spot. We were wondering - is it that good that people stand will stand in line? We decided to try Pho Queen during the dinner hour - it's a much different scene. We arrived around 5:30ish and parking spaces were abundant. There were few people in the restaurant and we were seated immediately. Once we ordered, our bowls of hot pho came out within a few minutes. The broth was rich and not too salty. YUM! Just want was needed on a cold and rainy evening! Note - No credit cards. There's a sign that says "Cash Only." We'll definitely return for dinner to try other items on the menu.

We always get the chicken pho here. It's broth is the best and not as greasy as the other places that serve the chicken pho. The chicken meat is moist and tender and tasty...other places sometimes has the bright yellow skin on there that I'm not really accustomed to. Stick with the chicken pho.

Wow, I came to eat here with some friends during lunch. BAD idea, the line was like snaked around the building. It was pretty cool though because as we were getting closer to the front, we were handed menus. Once we sat down, we ordered some spring rolls, bun tom thit nuong, and of course some pho (chicken, house special). The herbs and bean sprouts they brought out were some of the freshest I've seen in a restaurant. The pho had a particular flavor to it. I ate my bowl and finished the broth. My friends said it was just "ok". I think the pho was great though. The bun tom thit nuong was pretty good as well, even though I just tasted the meat. The place is nice and clean, service is pretty friendly. They've got a big flat screen in front so you won't get bored. Overall, I'd say this is a very good choice to go for your pho fix.

  • Vicky L.

Decent pho place, nothing out of the ordinary except for the unnatural lines that form if you arrive a minute after the clock hits 12pm. My vermicelli dish was pretty good and they were very generous with the bbq pork portions. Pretty much an average pho place.... not worth me writing more about unless the food improves or if something bad randomly happens.

This would be a 3.5 star review, but Yelp isn't down with my half stars so it'll be rated up to 4 stars... A frequent place of my co-workers and I on Saturday for lunch. Decent amount of food, not a lot of noodles (thank goodness) but a heck of a LOT of MSG! Total -1 star for the lack of consideration to my anti-salty diet.. The Vietnamese ice coffee did hit the spot though! Okay, I lied throughout this whole review.. it's a 3 star review until next Saturday..

San Jose has a large selection of excellent Vietnamese restraurants, THIS is NOT one of them. The service was non-existent and the food was bland. This particular small strip mall seems to be a hangout for homeless drug addicts.

I have probably been here over a dozen times when previously working for a company near Moffet Field. This wasn't too long ago so my memory is still fresh. I would always order and also recommend my colleagues the thick noodle seafood soup but dry (Hu Tieu Nam Vang Kho). It comes with white noodles, chicken, artificial crab, fish balls, ground beef and this delicious sauce. This dish is all about the sauce and Pho Queen makes it just right. They also give you a bowl of soup so you can pour it in or sip it separately. I recommend eating it dry and when your bowl gets a little empty, poor it in to finish it off. I ordered the Pho a few times but it was nothing special. The vermicelli plates like Bun Thit Nuong and Bun Nam Nuong was just OK as well. The meat was kind of dry when I ordered it. Cash only joint with no ATM inside. No problem, the liquor store next door has one. Service is decent and it gets a little crowed on the weekdays during lunch hours. Come before 12 or after 2 to avoid the rush.

I have eaten here many times. It is my go to Pho for lunch when I am in town. Is there better Pho in the Bay Area? Yes, but this is an inexpensive, well flavoured option. Be aware that they are a cash only restaurant. I recommend this restaurant.

  • Michael W.

Pho Queen is located in this small shopping center right before the 237 entrance. Watch out for the lunchtime traffic on the weekdays though. This place literally has a line going out the door if you're not here early enough. As far as the pho goes, its not bad, but it's not mind blowing either. I thought that the noodles were a little too soft and that the broth was a tad on the bland side. Other than that, I didn't find many other complaints. The meat looked decent enough and each bowl was just right under $7 at $6.95. Not sure what the hours are over here, but I've seen it closed on many occasions where other places would be open, i.e. Sunday. Cash only, which is kind of meh for me but then again, its $7.

i really only need 3 words to describe this place -- quick, cheap, and delicious! But just a disclaimer -- I don't come here for their pho, and I've actually never tried their pho. I usually order #29 dry -- the one that has meat, seafood, half egg noodle, half flat rice noodle, and soup on the side. It really hits the spot every time. They also have one of the best spring rolls ever -- contains both shrimp and pork, just the right amount of vermicelli and sprouts. It seems like one of the most simple dishes, but a lot of places don't get it right. At least for me, this place gives a lot of bang for my buck!

I came here on a Sat evening because my fave pho joint was closed. I was in desperate need of my pho fix and my Uncle had raved about Pho Queen's broth. Welp, I'm glad they open until 9pm but the positives pretty much end there. To be fair, I've only tried their pho. Quick rundown: - Bland beef broth - VERY oily - Fatty pieces of meat and scant portion. Maybe only 4 pieces total - Sticky tables - Really loud environment Service was fine & quick but there are much better options for pho lovers out there.

CASH ONLY. I meet B. after work at Pho Queen Noodle House since he works close by here. I took Lightrail Mtn View from Downtown SJ - closest stop is Vienna which is a long block away from Lawrence & Tasman where it's located. We ordered a bunch of stuff: Fresh spring rolls - 2 rolls they cut in half w/ peanut butter/hot sauce on the side. Fine. Medium Special Rice Noodle $6.5- shrimps, pork, chicken dry. It's a small bowl of noodles w/ some shrimp, thin but dry slices of chicken, & some ground pork. Bowl of broth on the side. Just ok. B. got a egg noodle soup w/ shrimp, chicken, pork. Side of bean sprouts & jalapeno. He liked it ok. Iced Vietnamese Coffee - small drip coffee they brought out the filter w/ condensed milk on the bottle, glass w/ ice on the side w/ a spoon. Nice. I liked it. CASH ONLY. Hrs: Sun Closed M-Sat 9-9

-1* Smaller portions..especially their rice plates. Other places give you twice as more. -1* A friend ordered tea, and she never got it and they charged it on our bill. -1* Because the waiter had this p.o'd look on his face the whole time. Sorry, I'd rath

Good: I like the beef pho here. Fast seating and food. Fresh ingredients. Bad: I've tried the rice plate and it is not good at all, and I wouldn't recommend much else on the menu from the looks of it. Doesn't have any stir fried noodle dishes. Only appetizer on menu is spring rolls, no egg rolls. Other: Typical Vietnamese restaurant style service. Walk to the cashier if you want to get out quick. Lunch rush is too crazy, so I usually just get early dinner here when it is pretty empty. Bonus: This place accepts CC now, just have to spend 10 minimum so I usually get the spring rolls. I got a taro slushie once and it turned out really good, just took a while.

Located in a strip mall where there are a handful of options. And in a location where restaurants are nil. Food is fresh. Off. Quick in, out. Remember your table number to go up to pay at the end of your meal. Pay cash only if under $20 is the greatest tip can share as had no idea of that rule walking in until paid. Thank goodness always have cash:)

  • Aman B.

This is your typical, decent Pho joint that tastes similar to most places. The food doesn't really stand out or make you feel as if you'd return. I had their #3. On the plus side, they don't use much MSG. Perhaps I'm just a North Vietnam Pho type of guy but Dac Phuc's broth is one of the few places you can get that "different" broth not to mention their in-house hot sauce.

This is the best pho in the area outside of San Jose, IMO. It gets pretty busy during lunch time hours due to the many companies in the area, but service is always great.. The guys who work here always joke about how they should start a membership program just for me since I come so often :)

Service: you have approximately 2.1 seconds to look at the menu and decide what you want to eat and order it. j/k They bring out your food very quickly. Food: Pho Ga is so awesomely delicious! How come the chefs in SM can't get it right? The only thing that would make it a A+ would be a side of ginger fish sauce. *I ordered a side of bo vien which was so flavorful and tendony just the way I like it. $1 for 4 beef balls. Price: Typical 5-6 bucks for a good size bowl of pho. Filled me up good and made me all warm and fuzzy on a rainy day.

Food was OK. Not very competitive. Service was horrible!!! The waiter was rude and arrogant like I owe him a thousand dollars... Very annoying body language.. Won't come again! I did't expect high standard customer service for these quick lunch restaurants, but at least don't be rude at your customers!

  • Birdy H.

This place is ok. Their portions are very small for the price they charge. It gets very busy on the week days during lunch so I recommend go after the rush or prior to the rush. My favorite dish here is the Hu Tieu Cang Dac Biet Place isn't very clean or should I say does not have that "fresh" cleaning atmosphere. Can use some updating. I only go here when I'm working since it's close by. Not every busy on weekends, sometimes it's empty for hours.

We went in really late for lunch and expecting not much. We had this place serves amazing Pho and boy! was it good. Of course it helped we were damn hungry but the pho was great. The broth was fresh and the helping was very generous. A great find close to home. I tried the chicken pho and it came along with fresh basil, jalapeno and extra broth. Lovely!

Decent place to grab some pho. I came here several times when I took my Cross Fit class down the street. It's easy parking and the service is always fast. I ordered the Tai Nam Gau Gan Sach. It was ok but nothing to rave about....they could add more noodles to the large bowl.

    (3)
  • Julianne L.

The pho here is pretty average, but it's the spot when you're in the dead pho zone of Sunnyvale. The large is about $8 and pretty filling. I've had their vermicelli bowls too but portions for those are much smaller. If you need a caffeine fix, order the Vietnamese iced coffee. They make it super strong over here. The smoothies are topped with a generous amount of whip cream like the pictures plastered on their windows. Overall it's worth going to if you're in the area and don't want to drive all the way to east San Jose for Pho epicness.

I wonder why they chose Queen instead of the higher ranking King? I mean Pho King sounds----(Ohhhh! Dang!). Sorry Man. So, this place is jammed during weekday lunch often with a decent sized line by Noon. But fear not; it moves quickly and inside the service might be a bit brusque but fast nonetheless. And thus far the quality has been good the few times I've been there. Today we had the #20 & 21 combo's; either mixed shrimp, chicken and pork or mixed seafood in a chicken broth. This was my first time ordering these and although it was good, the beef broth based phos have been better. While they were packed with rice noodles (the #20 had wide noodles) lots of scallions and we both felt that some fish sauce and the hoisin sauce helped the broth. The unsmiling service today was on par with earlier times there but they are speedy. Hey at least they didn't shorten the name like my favorite San Francisco Pho place called PPQ ( yelp.com/biz/pho-phu-quo… ) or else it would be simply Pho Q....

  • JJAMZ C.

3 pieces of thin beef floating in our LARGE order pho....do I need to say more? Soup was a bit bland and not too flavorful. Taro tapioca pearl was very thick. BBQ chicken rice plate was okay. A bit pricier and not as great to those others you can find in San Francisco. Staff was nice - they are right there ready to take your order, but after that I didn't get much interaction and had to get up and go to the counter to ask for my check. I was in the area and the kids wanted somewhat of a real meal - not fast food - so it served it's purpose - but would probably not opt to go there again.

Perfect place to go if you just want to dive into a bowl of pho without any distractions. Place for a date or family? Nah, too dirty. Place for lunch? Nah, line out the door. But let's say it's 5:45 and you just got out of work, and all you want is a nice big bowl of pho and no one to bother you for 30 mins, you go to pho queen. Today I walked in there for a bowl, the few waiters in there looked at me as excitedly as a cat would if it wasn't hungry and didn't need a warm spot to nap on. Not a hello, didn't even get up from their seats, just pointed at a table. I sat down, one of the waiters brought over a menu at his leisure, again, not even a hello, just waited there impatiently for me to order. It's alright dude, I know the drill "#3, extra white onions, water." Peace dude, go get me my pho. Even before I finished checking in on yelp on my iphone, the soup was here. Good, because the atmosphere was crap and espn was doing another Brett Farve story. Delicious pho. Good amounts of meat and noodles. Broth was solid. I just stared into the bowl of amazing-ness and forgot about everything else. Half way through the bowl, I see one of the kitchen guys kick/drag a bucket of raw chicken through the dining area into their kitchen area. Whatever, this is good pho. Horrible service. But the perfect place if you just want a quick bowl of pho and get out.

My friend and I always sees Pho Queen on the way to Sweet Tomatoes on Kifer, and finally, decided "what the heck, let's finally try this place!" We were excited, and had expected to walk right in, but we were stopped by a line that was going in. While waiting in line, I was getting excited to try the pho because it must be that great that you had to line up to get some. The wait to be seated wasn't long at all, maybe about 5 minutes. We were seated then immediately asked what wanted to order. We told them we needed more time, and when we finally decided what we wanted, we couldn't get a hold of the waiter for a while, lol. I ordered my usual number 6 or 16. hah, I don't really know which number it is but it usually has tendons ( my fave!), briskets, flank, and I don't really remember the rest, heheh. I kinda just go for briskets and tendons. We finally got our order in, and the food came in a timely fashion. When the pho came, it smelled so good. Smelled much better than most of the pho i've had. i haven't had much, but it was the best out of the ones i've had. The taste went along with the smell. The soup was bomb, but the tendons not so much to my liking, but still pretty good. I thought it was simply delicious overall. Funny thing is, the smell will follow you the whole day! My friend ended up smelling scrumptious the entire day, yummy! (: I will be back! (:

I've been here a lot, but I've always forgotten to write a review. I had the standard pho with brisket and other rare portions of meat. They definitely give you a wealthy portion of noodle to coincide with the meat, with the prices reflecting that. It also came out relatively fast even though it was nearly packed. Though I don't understand why this place stands out compared to others; perhaps it's a distance thing, I dunno. Pho almost tastes the same for me; maybe it's a region thing.

My coworkers and I used to come here often during lunch for pho. I am a pho snob and there's only a few places i go for pho. About 4 months ago, I ordered a bow of the usual (rare beef pho). The broth this time tasted so watered down. I got the same comment from others as well.

  • John N.

There are a lot of Pho places in the bay area. Most of them are terrible. Pho Queen is good to be a regular if I work or live close enough. As with any Pho place, always order #1 on their menu before exploring everything else and most places #1 is a beef combo rice noodle soup. I would rate this place a 3 and a half star, but Yelp does not support giving a half star. So following the rules of math, I round it up to give them 4 star. Also, their lunch wait is way too long.

Service wasn't great but considered average when it comes to a Vietnamese restaurant. In other words, quick and not too friendly. Selection is average. They have all the different types of beef and chicken Pho plus some other rice plates and I think vermecelli bowls--Though it doesn't really matter to me, since I always order the same thing (Pho Tai Nam and spring rolls). Today, I ordered that (#8) and was a little disappointed that they would not let me have my steak on the side. In fact, when I asked, the server said "NO!" and that I could only get steak on the side if I ordered a #6 instead (Pho Tai). I didn't really understand why or what difference it made, but I also didn't feel like insisting. The broth, however, is very tasty. There is a lot of flavor but not heavy. Something random: when I asked for a straw, the server said "Later. You wait!" and then he had someone else bring out a straw right away. I thought that was pretty funny...what ever happened to just saying, "Okay"? Would I come back, again? Probably not. I think I'll stick to Pho Khang, which is closer to my work, cleaner, accepts credit cards and with better service.

I like the hustle and bustle about this place at lunch time. Good Pho and good vietnamese coffee. Service was accurate and polite and thankfully not annoying like you'd get in a non-Asian restaurant ("hi my name is Tiffany, I'm your server today... blah blah blah). What more does one need from your local Pho shop. I like this place.

Place is really close to my job. Thought I would come in and check it out. I was greeted instantly upon my arrival. I was handed a menu and had literally 2 seconds to decide what I wanted since the waiter was standing next to me the entire time. Ha. I didn't mind because I already knew what I was going to order. The food came out super fast and the food was pretty darn good. I had to deduct a star or two because the place didn't "look" very clean. Ahh well. I will be back.

The broth is good, the meat is tender, portions are big, and the price is affordable. I also love that it's close to the AMC mercado so it's a great place for a quick dinner before catching a movie. The hubby and I went at around 7 on a Friday night and there were still plenty of tables available.

Ultra Rude. Will never go there again. When I asked for the persons name, he said I dont have to provide. When I went to take his pic, he told me he'd call the police and that it was illegal to take his pic. Save your money and time. To many other decent places out there.

Pho Queen may be the sister restaurant of Pho King and is just as Pho-King tasty. The noodles have good texture and the broth is on the lighter side. I often get thirsty after eating pho but didn't have that problem here. The lunch rush is a bit crazy due to all the pho-natics in the area...so make sure to go early.

Awesome PHO !! While I was eating my PHO, I felt transported to Vietnam ... Just incredible ... A must go place if you are at Silicon Valley :)

Just went here yesterday during my lunch with my co-workers. This place gets pretty popular sometimes so if you go after 12 noon, you might just be waiting in line. So go early! I had the dried vermicelli # 35 with chicken and shrimp. It came with a sauce that I have to assume is like a fish sauce or something ??? Well any way, I poured it in my dry noodle and ate away. Very flavorful and even better if you dip your chicken in the available hoison sauce and cock sauce. haha It made me quite full but a good full. The hot tea they serve free tastes better than most Pho places. I tried some of my co workers Seafood Pho soup and it had lots of taste to it as well. My co workers seemed to enjoy their wet soup and I definitely enjoyed my dry soup. I will have to come back to try the Pho, but for now, this place is definitely good! Try it out! I highly doubt you'll be disappointed! They have free candy at the register too....banana ones are yummers!

It's one of the better pho places in the area. Food was good but not OUTSTANDING. Reasonably priced. Clean; which is NOT common in a pho house. It's close by my work; so I'll be back. Come early. Line sucks.

It was a Saturday afternoon. It was cloudy and the wind was blowing hard. A friend and I, said we wanted something to eat that was warm and able to fill the heart. This was one of the noodle places I had yet to visit, so why the heck not. Parking was easy to find in the lot, and we got right in without having to wait in line or anything else. The moment we sat down and the menu's where placed down they already wanted to know what we wanted to eat. Shoot, I didn't even get to take a look at the things they had to offer yet.... ((I hate when that happens)) I ordered in a rush and said a random number and hoped for the best. The pho looked pretty good and it tasted alright. My friend ended up eating all of his and some of mine and loving it. Said it was one of the better places he had been to for pho in awhile, in our Sunnyvale area. I really enjoyed the tea they had, it had a nice sweet taste, and for that alone I know I will be dropping on back for a taste of the yummy yummy tea. I will say that when my friend comes back into town I will go here to give it another try, and see if ordering something else on the menu will help me place this place into my normal rotation of places I like to eat.

Pretty good place. Flat screen TV - USA soccer game was on. A HUGE plus Gave us front row seats. Another HUGE plus Soup came out fast. Friendly staff that was cheering on the soccer game. Great place and good atmosphere Only down fall was the wooded chopsticks

Pho is good but I am knocking a couple stars off for their wait staff. There are a couple very rude employees who need to go work at Denny's or something, pretty rude. The cashier doesn't usually even look up from the register when taking money. Nobody smiling and everyone working there looks like they would just as soon lay down on some railroad tracks as come to work...

If you're ever in the mystical city of Sunnyvale, close to Cisco and Yahoo, is an extremely popular Pho place called the Pho Queen. Pho is pronounced like the "F word" without the "ck". LOL. On weekdays, right after 11:45am, a line typically already forms to get in. So the best time to come is no later than 11:30am or after the work lunch crowd at around 1:30pm. For sometime now, I tried to figure out what draws so many people here. Yes, the broth (the secret ingredient to Pho's) is quite excellent and authentic. But I think the crowd draw is more of bragging rights of having been to this area's secret Pho place. The place isn't of the 5-star class persuasion (maybe more like between 2 and 3), but it does offer a relaxed environment with a good selection of Vietnamese cuisine on the menu (not just Pho). My only complaint about the menu is that they do not carry fried egg rolls (they only have fresh). Other than that, the menu offers pretty much the whole Vietnamese shebang. Service quality is fair and friendly. It's your typical authentic Vietnamese guys and an occasional lady that might bring your drinks and desserts instead. Overall, the atmosphere during the typical work lunch hour is brisk and lively, and you'll surround yourself with mostly hi-techie types from the area. For the Pho connoisseurs, I highly recommend Pho Queen. Excellent Pho. Seriously. And oh, in classic Vietnamese fashion -- bring Cash! They do not accept credit/debit cards. Bring Cash! LOL Enjoy!

FIVE STARS for the Pork Vermicelli here!!! I've only tried the pork vermicelli here to go so the stars don't reflect the service, atmosphere, or any of of the other dishes here. It's the best that I've tried in the area!!! The fish sauce was the right balance of fishiness and sweetness, and the grilled pork was juicy and flavorful! I also love the daikon that they add on the side that a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants just skimp. Mmmm, just typing this up makes me want some of that good stuff right now...

At a time when portion sizes are shrinking, it was awesome to find a Vietnamese restaurant that's keeping their pho in big girl/boy sizes. I had the standard pho with every edible bit of the cow, and it was all mighty tasty. Soup wasn't particularly interesting, but I tend to like the ones without the film of oil anyway. Not much of that heady umami smell though. Big heaping plates of herbs to share.

So strange that I haven't written a review for this place... Anywoot, here it is! I was not impressed my first time around here. I was fighting a terrible cold and needed some pho ga (chicken) to help with my sinus pressure and coughing. I came here and ordered their small bowl. The service is average (like any Vietnamese joint... I never come with high expectations) as they never seem to stand still long enough for you to tell them what you want/need. Dishes that have passed my tasting: Pho Ga (chicken pho): I didn't care too much for this dish for some reason. I felt the chicken was super chunky and dry even in the broth. The broth had a thin layer of oil that I could see floating. I was seriously not feeling this dish. I say pass unless you're a super chicken fan. 2 out of 5 stars Pho Bo Vien (meatball pho): GOLDEN! I kept wondering why people packed into this place during lunch... Now I know. The broth of this dish was to die for! The meatballs were not giant sized (I hate that) and were of appropriate size to eat in one bite without looking all chipmunk cheeks. I was really caught off guard when I ate this so it really effected the opinion I had of this place. 4 out of 5 stars Pho Thai (steak strips pho): The meat was so thinly sliced and the broth was like the pho bo vien. I didn't taste or see any oil floating but I could taste the MSG a lot more. I believe this dish was good but not superb. My vote is still for the bo vien. 3 out of 5 stars. Com Ga Nuong (marinated grill chicken rice plate): Yuck. I seriously wanted some rice and felt daring enough to try this dish. The chicken was chewy and totally flat, both in shape and taste! I can't say I would recommend this dish as I'm a big rice plate fan. Pass! 1 out of 5 stars Sin To Dau (strawberry smoothie): Oh ick... It was so sweet that I felt I was drinking a fruit snack. Totally fake flavoring at its best! Save your money and pass on this... Overall, I'm glad I found a pho joint super close to my home to enjoy. Between Pho Nam and Pho Queen, I have lots of comforts of home (Eastside San Jose).

There have just one vegetarian dish in their menu. I have tried better pho. So I will not be back.

  • Fleur S.

OK the only reason why I gave this one star is that the same guy who seated us, handed us the menu, scratched his hair, is the same guy who used the same hands (no gloves, no utensils) to put the bean sprouts, the jalapenos, the basil leaves and lime onto the plate and assemble our tray of pho noodles. I was not at all happy with this unhygienic practice. Will not be returning.

Good: Good food and portions (I like the beed pho and pork vermicelli and spring rolls), decent price Bad: Lunchtime gets very busy after 12:00pm. Customer service is very minimal.

Pho real Pho sho Pho More. Pho Life? Okay maybe not...but for my first experience with Pho, this was decent. Since Pork is not my friend, I ordered the Chicken Pho. Reminded me of a simpler chicken noodle soup-minus the veggies+salt. I added the lime and basil to balanced the flavors. Voila...magic soup. For $6.00, not bad. Get there before 12 to avoid the incredibly long line. Who knew!

Pho Queen has quick service and the food comes really fast, the only downside is the waiters don't speak much english so it's a little hard to communicate at times. I'm in love with their grilled chicken vermicelli! Pho Queen gives so much more veggies than other restaurants and the chicken barely contains any skin/uneatable parts. The chicken is grilled with tons of flavor and perfectly tender. I definitely recommend this place and every time I've been here it's been a yummy experience

The best Pho EVER! A yummy broth and super quick service! I went at around 3pm in the afternoon so the lunch rush was gone. The only downside is that is cash only no credit cards. You will not be disappointed with the place.

This Vietnamese restaurant must have a master griller. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants and they grill their meats very well. The chicken, beef, and pork are marinated and grilled to succulent perfection. The shrimp is huge and also grilled well (perhaps slightly over cooked, but I like it that way). The lunch rush is a bit hectic and there will be lines during the week days, so come early or later and you will have no problems. Just don't come at 12:30. Tips weekday lunch: arrive before 11:45am or after 2:00pm. Little to no wait. arrive after 12 noon, watch the people indulge. Don't hate. You're late. They close on Sundays, a big bummer. They've got all the typical Viet dishes... the pho, vermicelli bowls, rice plates... and you cannot go wrong with any of them. I've been coming here for years. They have been uber consistent in quality and speed.

one of the best spring rolls in san jose/ santa clara area. The broth is good and service is fast. I would definitely recommend this place but not on weekdays lunch time. This place can sit about 50 to 60 people but the lines are out the door on lunch hour

Only one vegetarian option and then they tack on a $.25 charge to go -- even though I'm clearly at work and can't stay. Tacky. I won't come back.

This place is great if you're in a hurry, surprisingly, because even though there is a line outside, they take your order when you get to the entrance and most of the time your food is on the table when you finally get seated. The service here is fast and their pho is tasty. Their seafood soup noodles are even better :) Definitely a great place to grab a quick lunch.

  • Kurt N.

the pho here was average. the broth tasted a little different from the norm but overall if this place was the only pho place open during a cold day, i'd go back

4 Stars for the food; 2.5 stars for the service; -0.5 star for "CASH ONLY"! I was pretty impressed with their soup, for the first time visit. Ordered the seafood pho for $6.25, unlike most of the other pho places where the seafood soup is usually tasteless, this place is really good! Generous amount of fresh seafood too. Not too mention there are many different kinds of sauce on the table--instead of only having the traditional sweet&spicy sauce that I don't like, they have another kind of spicy spicy sauce too, which tastes perfect with my soup! I wish I have ordered the large one. The thing I don't like: the service is meh, that guy was not very nice when taking my order, and he just put down the water, pretty heavily, on the other side of the table...I'm glad another guy brought the soup and didn't do the same thing :P Another annoying thing is not only it's cash only, we need to pay at the cashier too...for people as lazy as me, it's kinda not cool, hehe!

  • Vijay P.

Pho Queen is on my list as another great cheap eats hole in the wall place. Parking can be a bit of challenge, the line after 12noon can be a bit frustrating. The great thing is they'll take your order as you approach the entrance, get you seated, and the Pho is brought out to your Windex smelling table. Depending on where you're sitting the strong ammonia smell tends to you off. The Pho is quite good, and service is typical Pho style, but the clean up cart smell is another story :( Not bad Pho for under $8.00...The number 29 is the best :)

  • Lee W.

This is a difficult rating to give. I'm an avid pho restaurant reviewer, and this place has EXCELLENT soup and vermicelli. However, the poor service and crowded seating simply outweighed the tasty food. Perhaps I will try this place on a weekend or evening. Lunch time was just too crowded and the service was very rushed. They want to push you out like cattle.

    (2)
  • Ronald L.

It's hard to review pho noodle places when they all taste exactly the same. This place I consider a lower quality from the others since they have a very limited menu. If you're looking for simple pho noodles, then this is the place for you. If you want more variety, look elsewhere.

    (3)
  • SK L.

First, the water they gave me was not clean. The cup was not clean so I asked for another. They give a good portion for the pho. However, we found some sort of a little bug in there. After seeing that, I didn't want to ask for another and just wanted to leave. You have to track down the waiters for service. They are not that friendly. The first couple of times I came here was an ok experience, but the third time was my last time.

  • Gary J.

My recall is that some time back this Pho place used mostly real seafood in their #27. This trip kind of freaked me out when the bowl came there were three nice sized shrimp and then there was the other mystery concoctions of what I believe to be imitation and some real seafood parts, it was truly difficult to tell the real from the other. Overall the dish was okay, served hot and the broth and noodles were tasty.

  • Khanh T.

This place is alright. Long lines, but it goes by fairly quick because there are plenty of tables and it doesn't take that long to eat pho. Typical Pho restaurant, I don't have much else to say. Except to maybe not order anything else but the pho. I had the Mi (Egg Noodle) here and..... I think I should have not been adventurous. But hey, you won't know until you try, right? Get the pho, but don't get the egg noodles. It's not that great. Oh, and parking here sucks during the lunch rush. It's a really small lot. It is best to carpool.

    (4)
  • Charles A.

Service sucks!!! Expensive compared to other places... Large bowl of Pho is a small size anywhere else. The broth is blah, no taste and the soup doesn't come out hot enough so the meat is still somewhat cooking after 5mins of being served. Will never go back!!!!!!!!!!

    (1)
  • Jessica T.

hmm Pho was soso and service was a bit slow. probably coos a friend and I came near closing or I was hungry. no small size unfortunately. Pho dac Biet(meat combo) lacked in meat portions and so was my tai sach( tripe & flank) and the price you pay is worth the portion size too. pretty much all I could say I guess. Pho queen wasn't anything special. try Pho nguyen in milpitas or the very famous Pho Kim long :)

  • CeCe C.

CASH ONLY! It was very quiet here for dinner this evening... almost dead. The restaurant is surprisingly BIG and clean! Got the #8 medium bowl and had leftovers after!! I think it was the flank that had A LOT of fat... I didn't really enjoy taking out the fat. But overall, my meal was good for a very cold day. It's nice to eat some hot pho on any day like this!! The total of two bowls of pho equaled ($12) to one entree at SGD Tofu House ($12.47) last night!! It was ridiculously cheap (most items around $6-$8)! Yummers! Nearby there's a Mongolian BBQ place opening up and a Craft-It store!! ohhhh Will have to stop by those places when I have time! :D

  • Julie H.

I had take-out! My first thought - typical pho place...walked in, greeted by a gruff looking man (reminded me of my many uncles) and was directed to the counter for all the "to go" people. I really can't say too much about their service - but I thought atmosphere wise, they def needed more lighting...its a pho house so romantic dim lighting its so not needed! Nice touch w/the plasma screen - was able to watch the pres. debate while waiting... The food...while I sat waiting for my food - I saw one of their patron put salt in their pho! I have never seen such a thing...I can only infer that either this person did not know how to eat pho...or the broth was not flavorful enough...I ordered the grill chicken rice plate - yummy! The portion size was more than enough...was full half way thru... Because of my grill chicken - I'll come back just to see what else they have to offer. Curious about the pho now...

  • Kenny M.

Awesome place for it's price. I love their #1 with special order of half egg noodle and half rice noodle. Noodle is good and soup is concentrate (not like some chain pho restaurants where soup is dilute with water) and taste is just right. I'm a frequent visitor so I should feel confident saying the quality is consistent as well. Best pho around Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara, totally.

    (5)
  • Teresa H.

it's all right given you're in sunnyvale and there may not be a lot of options at said intersection. your choices are subway, taco bell, gobi mongolian bbq, and the chinese place that I never see anyone walk into. oh, and donuts. they count as lunch. I've come when there is no wait and that is awesome, but sometimes there is a line out the door during lunch. that kinda sucks.

  • Karen T.

so i'm no pho expert, and i'm not adventurous about the cuts of meat that i choose to put in my pho... but this place is kind of really awesome. while the not- so- mature karen wishes that it was named pho-king so i can giggle at the double entendre, this restaurant is fast, cheap, and actually tastes pretty great. i ordered the 13, the lean tender brisket, and the slices were deliciously tender, just as described, and most importantly, does not smell funny. you know what i'm talking about- that meat- y/ gamey smell that somehow always persists if you end up at a not so great restaurant. a little disappointed by the salty plum though, cause they just used water instead of club soda, but maybe next time i'll specify. excellent for those times when you want good hot soup in your tummy to beat the winter chill.

  • Tim L.

Ever since moving away from Pho Y, we have been looking for a replacement Pho joint. This place does the job. The soup is tasty and full of the star anise flavor, their MSG levels are not numbing, and they have pretty lean meat. Overall it is really good, but unfortunately it just does not sooth the soul quite as good as Pho Y in San Jose. Their beef quality is good but not as good as Pho Y, their noodles are good but not perfect, they will not allow you to get your beef served rare on the side. Therefore it is usually a little too chewy for me. Their spring roll however was really good. It was very tight and they wrapped the inside with slices of meat, and also used a whole piece of shrimp on the inside rather than that chintzey half shrimp other people try to trick you with. Bottom Line - Very good Pho joint. Definitely check it out. Be careful when coming at lunch because it is so busy.

  • Thomas A.

This place has VERY quick service. When I used to work a little closer to that area, I'd go in for a lunch break, and be back at work within the 30 minute time-frame. The pho is pretty authentic as well. They're very accommodating to group sizes, and service doesn't suffer as a result. Since it's located near a lot of businesses, it's a great place to bring co-workers who have never had the "real pho" experience.

    (4)
  • Jason C.

I saw some complaints about service in some of the previous reviews. I'm sorry, but this is a pho house, not Gary Danko. Get over it. Anyhow, onwards with the brief review: So far, the food has been good, without minimal amounts of ill effects. I've tried the basic pho beef bowl (#6) and the grilled chicken plate with rice. Both were satisfying and delicious. There's some other noodle bowl that was good, I'll have to find the name of it next time I go back, and the spring rolls were very fresh and crispy this past Friday. My only complaint is that like most pho places, the quanity isn't enough. I'm hungry within an hour or two. Or that might be just me. Then again, I tried a different place in San Jose (I will review that one later) with a kick-ass chicken pho that was soooo big that I could barely finish (it was Pho Kim Long in SJ). I'm currently using that as the gold standard b/c of the impressive quality and volume. Another nice perk is that it's open relatively late unlike a different weaksauce place near El Camino and Hollenbeck in Sunnyvale that closes at 8 p.m. Pho Queen has more than once saved me from starving to death and having to resort to eating some crummy salad at Safeway by keeping their doors open until 9 p.m. Anyhow, that's about it for now. If I could, I'd rate Pho Queen 3.5 but since there are no half stars, I'll just give a 3.0 to be conservative.

This is the worst restaurant I've been to in terms of service. Basically if you have one guest on his/her way, this restaurant won't let you sit down and order. You will have to step aside and wait for all parties to arrive before you can go to a table and sit. This is the first time of my life to encounter something like that. Bottom line: extremely cheap place run by extremely cheap people.

  • Ames F.

Ok, after going here for lunch last week, I was perplexed as to why this place is so popular. We got there early, so we didn't have to wait in the line that snaked outside the door. While the service was quick, it wasn't great. After placing the order for my meal, the waiter ripped the menu out of my hands before I could order a drink from the back of the menu. The place smelled kinda funky, my friends says it was the fish sauce, but I've been to other pho places and they didn't have that weird smell. I've been to way better places in the Foster City/San Mateo area. Won't go back here again.

  • Herman N.

I used to come to this place all the time as it was close and inexpensive to one of my clients. Overall, this place is just okay. What makes or breaks pho for me is how clean the broth is. Most times, the broth here is pretty oily, like it has been brewing and mixed it with a lot of stuff over a long period of time. However, I think their bun (vermicelli) and rice dishes (ask for broken rice, which is a finely chopped up rice) are great, especially if you order a dish that includes shrimp. Most Vietnamese noodle houses will just give you regular grilled tail-on shrimp. At Pho Queen, they actually give you a couple of large sized shrimps, butterfly cut, and then grilled. This makes a big difference on the flavors that seep into the shrimp (its much juicier and tastier). The place can be fairly busy at lunch, but the service is so quick (especially if you are ordering pho), you can get in and out in less than 45 minutes. Dinner time is usually quiet here with no wait.

  • Todd H.

Get in my belly! Might be my favorite new Pho joint. Just ate about 20 minutes ago. I went with a medium, and it was plenty of soup. I am ready for a nap. Well, I might go completely PHOmatose. I would give it a full 5 stars, but I felt that would be premature, since I went out of my norm and had the pork/beef/shrimp affair. Once I compare the Pho Ga I normally get @ Pho Thahn Long, I will reevaluate. Pricing was already about 2-3 bucks cheaper. Only drawback is Parking is tight. Very busy, like most decent noodle houses, but what'reya gonna do?

  • Rick L.

hey man. this place is solid, good pho. good broth, nice noodles, and meat is what u expect.. i like the brisket stuff. nice and fatty. good amount of cilantro and onions in the soup, although lacking of white onions. fresh lime, basil, and nice bean sports. portions aren't super large, but they dont skimp either. i'd definitely come back for pho... solid, solid, solid!

    (4)
  • T B.

This place is packed at lunch with a line out the door. I now know why. As others have mentioned, the pho is very good and the rice dishes are excellent. Portions are pretty generous. During weekday lunch, the line can be intimidating, but they often take your order while in line and serve you very quickly. Service consists of a few grunts and finger points. There is an occasional half smile from the staff now and again. Who cares? It's good, cheap, and fast. Cash only.

    (4)
  • Kat D.

One of the better pho places, slightly better as they are all pretty much the same. You should head out of the office around by 11:40 if you want to avoid having to wait in line. They do give you menus while you are in line so they can have your order ready for you by the time you sit. Although they do not take credit cards, you can write them a check if you don't have any cash. Or, you can go next door to the liquor store and visit the ATM there.

    (4)
  • Tried This B.

Number 1 on the menu rocks. I know people who go there 4 times a week just for it. Number 39- Grilled shrimp. Absolutely delicious. This is the best I have tried in a lotta places. Lunch is crazy, evenings mellow and spacy.

  • Wayne Q.

There is always a line out the door at this place, and decent party processing algorithms in place to keep the flux of people through it as high as possible. The pho was good, but not great. No complaints, but not a standout for me by any means. But one could say this about most places in the Sustenance Valley. And there you go.

    (3)
  • Cheryl P.

A hop, skip & a jump away from the office. Come early if you don't want to wait in a line the stretches around the corner. Luckily we arrived around 11:30 so they were able to seat our party of 7. Service is like Tung Kee - sit, order RIGHT AWAY and eat. Pho wasn't bad, but the MSG caused major food coma and insatiable thirst. They also offer other soupy meals and rice plates. I'd come back again only out of convenience.

  • Alex K.

Went a few times here, ate meat ball soup and pork vermicelli plate. Haven't been disappointed yet foodwise. I'd like to have a few more choices, such as beef on the rice plates. Prices are good. They take cash only, service is prompt, but not exactly friendly.

  • Wendy K.

This place used to be the best Pho in town for the longest time. And of course it's fast and cheap. Some may find the Cash Only rule stupid, but I'm OK with it. Recently though the broth got really oily and depending when you get there (after the crowd leaves) the noodles get too soft. I've been trying other pho places around the area, but always come back to this one.

LUNCH PLACE FOR SURE. Large portions and good prices. Always a line out the door. Lots of goodies to throw in it!!. Can you say red rooster and plum sauce. YUM

Really the only OK-pho around the 101/Fairoaks area of Sunnyvale. I'd much rather go to Pho Nam on El Camino and Mathilda, but the drive is a good 7 or 8 minutes further. I typically go for the combo, #1. The size of the large is fairly standard. The broth is good, but I feel like it's because of MSG. The quality and quantity of the meat is average as well. All in all, an OK pho place and as always, a good place to cure a Sunday morning hangover.

Been coming to Pho Queen off and on the past 2 years. One of my co-workers loves this place and says she is a VIP at this restaurant since the wait staff seems to know of her at least pays attention to her when we come. - Cleaniness -.5. One thing I'm kind of leery of is the cleaniless of this place. When I get my chopsticks or fork, I dip the napkin into my hot cup of tea and give the utensils the wash down. - Service -.5 Wait staff is not patient. I can tell in their eyes as another co-worker is trying to decide what to order. - Parking -1 It can be an issue if you get here at 12:05. Where you have to drive to around for awhile to find parking. - Food: I give it a 3 stars. Usually I order the #31 bbq pork with rice noodles. But I wanted to try something else today. Hmmm what to get....it aint cold today so no soup for me. I ordered the #32 today, bbq chicken with rice vermicelli noodles. It hit the spot. -Chicken was nicely grilled (not burned). Tasty, tender. -Rice noodles was good and not tough to chew. -Pickled veggies (carrots and the turnip) gave it a nice crunch and had the pickled flavor. -Pour on the Hot Chile Sauce and the hoi sin sauce to add complex flavors. Yum. -Not too much into the fish sauce that comes with this dish.

I like their #20 hieu tieu shrimp, ground pork & chicken dry noodle..,except their soup on the side was not good...the soup reminded me of canned chicken broth. Other than that i enjoyed #20 :)

Get there early to beat the lunch crowds! Although the line does move pretty fast, it sucks to wait while watching happy people scarf down delicious Pho. I ordered the Pho Tai, which is noodles, broth, and steak and quite delicious. The food came out very hot and the condiments were fresh and tasty. The service is less than what I was expecting. There is no "waiter" you kind of order as you walk into the restaurant (effort to speed up the eating process to relieve the huge line out the door I suppose). But the food is worth it, especially since you can stuff your face for about 6 bucks. Very very good. I would definitely go back and will very soon.

You got to get here before noon or after 1:30PM. The line is out the freakin door. I've been ordering their white meat chicken pho...the meat is SOOO SOFT!!!!!! The broths is bland but the saracha sauce makes up for the blandness. =) I like mine spicy so my broth is the color of red orange. Their beef pho is good too but they are on the pricier side for a bowl of noodles.

  • S O.

I used to come here with co-workers for lunch, and after a few times, I stopped going. Their pho is actually pretty good, but the broth doesn't taste clean - I swear it has a dirty dishwater smell. And they get really mad if you come in a group and try to pay separately at the register.

Pretty decent pho place around this area. One time when I had the flu, I went here almost every day for the entire week because I couldn't cook and needed hot soup. Every time I'm in the area, I would go here and the service is usually very courteous and the pho tastes like pho.

    (4)
  • Irene K.

My friend took me there today and their soup base is unlike any other because you don't feel thirsty afterwards....which means, no MSG. I'm sure I'll be going back for more very soon.

  • Ginni S.

I lined up patiently like everyone else did and honestly didn't understand what the line was for. The line didn't take that long to move but I still don't get it. It's an average bowl of Pho (unless I ordered the wrong item) with brisk service. If you timed your arrival incorrectly, you may not be able to find decent parking. I'm still intrigued by the line outside, is it because it's super cheap? But I don't remember the price making such an impression on me... I won't bother coming back because I don't see what the big deal is with this place.

Pho Queen is a tad above average as far as Vietnamese food goes. It is however a very popular lunch destination for many hungry office workers in the area. When comparing Pho Queen with other "Pho" houses. Then I would say Pho Binh just across the street is a better selection. The broth at Pho Queen does not have the rich flavor one would expect from a soup made from scratch. The difference is dried herbs versus fresh herbs. some restaurants us herbs from a can or bottle and other, restaurant's cut and chop them fresh daily. A little extra time is required but well worth it. Try Pho Binh for the flavor!

  • Diana S.

love the spring rolls with the peanut dipping sauce!!!! the vermicelli noodles with pork and shrimp prongs are excellent!!! The service is different from what I expected but my guy told me it's the norm in Asian restaurants, they do not check on you, if you want something you have to get their attention :) regardless I am hooked!!!!

came here for a late dinner around 9ish as it has been pho-king cold and been fighting the flu-bug. i was longing for some soothing pho-ga!! we attempted two other joints before hitting pho queen, but both were already closed?? what the pho yo!!?? located in a stripmall off of tasman, place looked a bit deserted but oh well, we were hungry and at least no wait like other southbay hit-spots (supposedly pho kim long is the off the chain). pho queen was cheap, quick and dirtay... picked a pho ga and pho bo- both around 5.25 (medium) and they were tasty tho portions a bit small from the sizes found at any pho house off of clement (PPQ, Yummy Yummy, Loi's).. i knew i was in s'vale not SJ, so i wasn't expecting so much in the supposed sacred land of pho. i needed some soothing, sauna-like loving in my throat and got it with pho queen. will i be here again?? probably not with so many other places to try =)

So let me say that i've eaten here before and the Pho is pretty good. What made me rate them with one star? The last time I went there for lunch, the old grandpa brought out the dreaded thumb soup! You know when they give you the bowl, their dirty black encrusted fingernail dipped into the soup because they didn't use two hands to lift the bowl off the tray. Needless to say we walked out and had Taco Bell across the way instead. Just say no to Thumb Soup!

Slightly better than Pho Nam down the street. So, I'll come here if my lazy butt is willing to drive an extra two minutes. And the location (parking/plaza) is so much better than Nam's.

What I ordered: 1) Pho Queen Special Combo Soup ($5.25 M, $6.25 L) 2) Spring Rolls ($3.50) The pho was decent. I thought the meat wasn't as fresh as it could've been. For a large, you didn't really get more pieces of meat. It was basically more noodle in a bigger bowl. Overall decent soup, not too salty and no obvious flaws. The spring rolls, however, is a ripoff. For 3.50, you get 2 spring rolls, and in them, you have a total of 4 pieces of shrimps. There were no other meat. It was simply wrapped vermicilli. Even the dipping sauce wasn't that good. It seemed like they mixed the peanut sauce and the spicy red sauce together. Probably wouldn't go back again unless I'm really craving pho and there isn't anythig close.

  • Minh L.

There's a reason why there's always a line out the door at this place. The service is very fast and they've got a good system going to get your food ready as soon as you're seated. I've been ordering the combination mi and hu tieu here forever and have not been disappointed.

    (4)
  • H T.

3.5 stars. i had a serious craving for pho today, and i think this is the nearest place by my work. i dragged seong w/ me in order to fulfill my need for msg. i had the seafood rice noodle soup, which was a good portion for the small. i finished every last drop and left satisfied. service here is gruff but very swift. within 3 minutes of ordering, i swear our food arrived.

  • Jeremy D.

good pho, fast service. What more do you want? Thumbs up.

    (4)
  • Ada M.

No nonsense pho. You go here because you know what you want, and you don't need someone to walk you through the process. Although the service is lacking, the pho is good. Only drawback is that you have to wait a few minutes during peak hours (like lunch). Get the spring rolls and stick with the beef broth.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

Definitely not the King of Pho, but if you're simply looking for some Pho or some quick Vietnamese food and your near Tasman and Lawrence this place is a good choice. Recommendations: #3 Large

  • Daniel B.

Great noodle soups! Hands down. Go just about every week for over two years and never had any issues with service, mixed up food orders. Prices are very reasonable. If you go for lunch be prepared to wait a bit outside. Line sometimes run around the corner, but good thing is the wait isnt so long . If I had to complain, its cash only.

    (4)
  • Lan L.

The pho here is very average. However, I like to get their seafood dry noodle (Hu Tieu) with the broth on the side. It's not the best place to get this noodle but it'll do if you have a craving and you don't want to travel far down to F&D Yummy restaurant on Alum Rock . FYI..if you're heading here for lunch...you probably want to go early like 11:30am or at 1pm to avoid that line out the door. At least the line moves pretty fast because they have a good system of getting your order before seating you so you get your food pretty soon after you get your table.

    (3)
  • Bill S.

Most have centered on the Pho. I always get the Dry noodles or rice place. My favorite is dry noodles with chicken & shrimp. Look the meat is done perfectly, tender, and just the right spice. The combination with the lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, nuts along with the sweet sauce is just incredible. So if you didn't think the pho was best, try these other dishes... really good. The line is interesting at lunch. Note that the other places all around don't have this line... must be something to it :-)

The other night I found myself in Santa Clara, hungry for a good bowl of pho but with no idea where to go. Then I happened to hear a married couple arguing, and the wife screamed "Get your phoqueen ass out of my house", and I immediately thought Pho Queen! What a great idea. The pho turned out to be pretty damn good, although the service was a bit slow. OK, alot slow. I guess maybe they'd had a busy day. Or something. But the pho was worth the wait, and the spring rolls weren't bad either. I'll hit Pho Queen again next time I'm in the vicinty.

good soup base, but noddle is too soft not QQ like it should.. also very strange that they will charge you tea per person.... it was ok, but not sure will go back again...

  • Ro C.

I don't know what it is about this place but people love it here. pretty good pho, they also have dry noodle soups and their rice plates rock. service is quick and attentive. try to arrive at this place by 1130am. you're guaranteed a table otherwise be prepared to wait in line just like the others.

    (4)
  • Mercedes R.

The lines can be long, but can be easily avoided if you go to lunch early. The pho is decent, service is quick, prices are cheap. And similarly to with Gurmeet G.'s musing - I was wondering if places existed out there that were called Pho King. And what about about Pho Q?

    (3)
  • Nathan H.

Was up in the Bay Area, and since Im on my Pho kick, I had to try a place. This one happened to be right by my buddy's house and let me tell you how good of a thing that is.. Pho Queen was great (needs a new name though). I was even doing something I'd never done at a Pho place before, getting it to go. Got the #3 and man did they pack it on. A huge container of broth, a large container of all the meats (tripe, flank, squid, skirt), and a healthy packaging of basil and noodles. I mean, even to go, this was top notch Pho. Got it back to my buddy's house, threw it all in a huge Pho-size bowl, and grubbed out...and came out just the same. I was very impressed with Pho Queen. Decent price as well and very friendly staff. I recommend it.

    (4)
  • Danie B.

Its not the best, but it works when you work and live near by since there isn't a lot of Pho places in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. East Side San Jose has a much better selection. I wish they had fried eggrolls! There broth was a little weak but the noodles and chicken where delicious. Good alternative to the burger and greasy food joints nearby.

    (3)
  • Brian W.

The is one of the best Pho places I've been too. We always go in the evening and there's never wait. The food is good and the service is actually better than the average Vietnamese restaurant.

    (4)
  • Elizabeth P.

Went there today and it was pretty good. I had the chicken noodle #18 small. The chicken was soft and tender too. The staff isn't the friendliest but I'm used to it. I figure it's a mix of business and their culture. I got there at 11:45am and was seated immediately. There was a really long line out the door by 12:30pm. There's a reason this place is so popular still so I would go by that more than all the low reviews on here since everyone has different tastes. Parking is limited also. Another thing is I think they charge for hot tea. I noticed a $0.50 charge on our bill on the way out. The bowls themselves are a good size and cheap $ too.

  • Jim C.

Dropped by for lunch, and found this place packed (good sign). A large bucket of pho filled with miscellaneous animal bits is the best way to spend a lunch. Definitely among the better pho places I've been.

I can definitely share Christine A's sentiment about this place. Pho Queen is one NASTY NASTY NASTY Queen. Nasty in a bad way. :-) I was for a quick lunch one day and decided to go to Pho Queen. It is true that their location is convenient. I entered the restaurant and they placed me in a small table. A few inches to my right was another small table. Those two tables were in close proximity with one another, so customers could share condiments. I have no problem with that. I noted another customer was in the middle of his lunch. He left just when I was served with my Pho. My Pho was tasty and I was beginning to think that I found a new good place for Pho. I was wrong. One of their server came over, started cleaning the table beside me and start SPRAYING CLEANING AGENT to the table next to me - while I was eating. I can smell the cleaning agent and I can also safely assume that some of the spray got into my delicious Pho. I POLITELY protested using polite language and polite tone, but I didn't think that the guy understand what I was saying - well, at least he didn't say anything to me. I went to the cashier and I did not even receive an apology. The senior guy behind the cashier just ask me to hand him my money and only spoke 2 - 3 words. NASTY and UNCOURTEOUS. I don't think I will be back to Pho Queen any time soon, unless I want to have Clorox taste in my Pho.

Pros: Good soup, good noodles, fresh soybeans / mint leaves, plenty of limes Cons: Long line, terrible service, small portions for the price, steak in my pho wasn't good, was bothered by flies the entire time There are other places in the area that I'd rather go to.

my bf and his family just moved around the santa clara area, and his friends been ravinggg about this place. My bf's sister in law went to this place for a lunch, and she actually wanted to go again for dinner. I couldn't believe it, damn that gooddd?? They kept talking about the seafood hu tieu, its #1 on the menu so mostly everyone order that. I was pretty impressed. I normally go to hu tieu nam vang on tully, but this place is JUST AS GOOD! the jumbo prawns and crab was really fresh tasting..yummyy. You can get it as a soup or dry, I like it dry and the sauce is pretty good. Other people got the porkchops and the chicken with rice. They liked it, but I thought the porkchop was a bit dry cause of the thin slices. The sister in law and I actually came back again for lunch the next day. haha.. yes, its THAT good. Now go try it! o0o and the che sung sa hot lu (iono if thats how u spell it, sound it out =/ its a dessert) was pretty darn gooooood too!

    (4)
  • Frank K.

The pho is good. But the waiters didn't understand us when we asked questions like "Which one is the brisket?" when we pointed out that we were supposed to get two meats but only got one. They just kept pointing and finally just brought us more meat. So we ended up with a pho with one meat but it least we had twice as much meat as usual.

    (2)
  • Renae C.

this place has good pho. i've been to a lot of pho places, this is on my top 5. turtle tower being number 1 of course. but there are no turtle towers in sunnyvale, except in my toilet.... **joke drum bit** anyway, they need a pho king noodle house. how funny would that be? i know, i'm lame.

    (4)
  • T D.

Pretty damn good pho! I was surprised about how tasty the soup was. I got a large pho tai with a suong sa hot luu (vietnamese dessert drink). The pho was good and so was the suong sa hot luu! I live nearby, but never went there until one day after school and I will surely return. Those not willing to drive to San Jose for a good bowl of pho, just go to Pho Queen. Regular priced as well, anywhere from $7-$11 a person including tip (pho+drink).

    (4)
  • Jenny K.

    Pros: large portion (pho)

    (3)

above average vietnamese dishes, good sized portions and fast service (for take out). Minus one star for cash only.

    (4)
  • Sam C.

Good Pho place. I never understood why there's always a long line out the door. Its good... but not crazy good. Service is fast. Price is good. I've had the Rice plates and Vermicelli bowls. Everything is good. No complaints besides the long lines.

    (4)
  • Bridget L.

I really like this place. The pho is always good, as is the grilled pork with vermicelli noodles. I haven't tried many of the other dishes because I always go in wanting either the pho or the pork, but their spring rolls are also quite good.. Service is good, too, and they were very accommodating of a large group when my co-workers and I went to lunch (quite a feat, considering their line is usually out the door during lunch). It's cash-only and the atmosphere is basic, but the food is definitely better than your run-of-the-mill noodle house.

One of the best places for Vietnanese to get noddle and the rice. I like their barbeque pork/chicken rice. This is awesome.

  • David H.

Decent bowl of pho here. while I was visiting Sunnyvale, I asked someone at work and was told this is the best place around SunnyVale. She was right, it was the best place closed by where we were. This place gets real busy during lunch time so u have to wait a long time for a table. I was shock last time because I got there around 1:00 pm but I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and left me enough time to catch a 3:00 pm flight

    (3)
  • Gary Y.

Try to come here before 11:30am for lunch, otherwise, you'll be waiting in a LONG line which wraps around the corner of the store. We used to come here a lot for lunch because they were quick and close. But now we tend to move on and try new places everyday. Once in awhile we come back here because we needed to be back at work for meetings. We used to order #1 (Special beef noodle soup), but it tends to be ordinary like every other vietnamese Pho place. After recommendations from friends and collegue, I tried #29 (Combination) soup, it was GREAT! It's a different broth than the beef noodle pho. The broth was savory from the carmelized roasted garlic. It's a combination of rice noodles and egg noodles with slices of pork, chicken, and shrimps. We'll be return to this place once in awhile...it's on our "Good Eats" list.

fast, fresh, yummy pho. never had any problems. usually a wait out the door during week days around noon. the san jose location is just as good, and a bit more cleaner.

  • Missy-Fishy X.

This place has really great springrolls. The Pho is good too, although I usually just get my usually boring order of steak and brisket. Haven't been brave enough to try the one with tripe yet. Very, very busy at lunch although the wait is usually not too long.

    (4)

Good times in a bowl. Definitely going back.

  • Mark Y.

The signature dish is the #1. You have to try this one. I always get the Large, Dry with the soup on the side. The large comes with two jumbo prawns, a crab claw and several slices of meat. The difference is in the dry version, the noodles are mixed with a little sauce. It's a little different, but very good. Everything else here is decent, but you must try the #1. Get there early during lunch to get parking.

    (5)
  • Wendy C.

food is decent but the service is horrible. after they seat you, take your order and bring it then that is it! they ignore you for the rest of your dining experience.

    (2)
  • L H.

The food's good and comes out pretty quick. They keep things moving fast during lunch time by having people look at the menus and order while they're waiting in line outside the building. The thing I don't like is that they charge you for water & tea. You don't really expect them to charge you .50 or a buck for tap water and re-used tea bags. The food is also a bit pricey but it's probably because they're out in the open and close to big companies like Yahoo! & Network Appliance.

    (3)
  • Kamui K.

Love this place, the service is fast and quick, and has great flavor.

    (5)

The Pho is okay, but not great. I wouldn't stand in the huge line that forms at lunch time, because there are other restaurants that I like more in the same center.

    (3)
  • Gordon L.

I would have probably given this place 0 stars if Yelp would allow it, but alas, 1 will have to do. Place isn't the cleanest, that's for sure. I ordered the Pho without cilantro, since I don't like it, and low and behold, when it arrives, there's cilantro in it. I asked the waiter to return it and make one without cilantro, and he just proceeded to give me a spoon and basically wanted me to spoon out all the cilantro in it. If you know cilantro and pho, you know that it gets all over the place, and the taste does not go away. I asked a few times to return it, but he just looked around and waited. What is the major malfunction with this place? Other places I usually go to don't make this mistake, and if they do, they gladly take it back! I ended up deciding not to argue anymore, cause if they actaully did take it back, I'm not sure what surprise I'd get coming back. It took 15 minutes to get it out as much as possible, and the pho was average to me. The attitude alone of the workers there told me they could care less about their customers, so I will not be going back to eat their average pho.

I have been going to this place for the past 5 years +, I order 3 things, Ice Coffee, Spring Rolls and Pho, Number 26. Excellent!

    (4)
  • Hendrick L.

I've heard so much hype about this place, and I have to admit that it doesn't quite live up to it. The pho is decent, but not mind blowing by any means. I will admit I didn't try anything else, so that may be why I didn't get the "full" experience. Service is friendly and quick, like most pho places. The quality of the meat seems decent and nicer than most other places I've tried. If you eat here, you have to arrive early. The line will go out the door and then some otherwise. If you're in the mood for pho and you don't have to wait in line, I recommend you try it to judge for yourself. Otherwise, if you see a huge line out the door, I'd pass. It's decent, but not worth any type of long wait.

    (3)
  • Will G.

One of the good pho place in south bay. Good broth, good portion of meat. The parking and wait time can be long during lunch time. Service is spotty. If I'm in the area craving for pho and not during lunch time, this is my default place.

    (4)
  • Ann N.

one time, i got there for lunch on a wkday at 11:15am and barely beat the crowd. second time, got there at 11:30am and was in line like the rest of the herd. is it worth it to wait in line for pho at this place for 15 mins? no. not for pho anywhere. it was OK here. not that great in any way but serves the purpose. i make better pho at home w/ all the stuff i want on it so Pho Queen it is as it's by work and better than Pho Binh across the way or having to go to Taco Bell right there. their service is quick and as any vietnamese restaurants that's busy, not great service w/ a smile at all. but you get your Pho on a cold raining day to warm your tummy.

    (3)
  • Amit T.

My wife and I love this place! The have a decent amount of variety here in the menu, the food is good tasting and the service is quick! I usually get the # 21 and its awesome! We usually have to wait no longer than 5 minutes for the food to be sitting in front of us!

    (4)
  • Ryan D.

Pho Queen is good stuff. We come here for lunch all the time and there's ALWAYS a line out the door, but fear not--it moves very very quickly.

  • Joel H.

My favorite Pho in Silicon Valley!!! Hmmmmmm. I love the rare beef pho (menu item 6?)or the pork and shrimp over rice noodles (menu item 34?). =) I've been here soooo many times for lunch. I feel safe here. Pros... - Great food. - Fast service. Cons... - Parking is sometimes a hassle, get there early. - After 12 there is a long line for lunch. You should be fine if you get there between 11 and 11:30 for lunch. This place is a typical Silicon Valley lunch joint! I love it.

    (5)
  • Chad S.

Standard Vietnamese noodle soup at reasonable price and being so close to work, Pho Queen is the place I come for lunch as an alternative to fast food like burgers or sandwiches. I just hope that they open on Sundays, as I would really appreciate for some quick soup in the middle of overtime work.

    (3)
  • David T.

Not all vietnamese noodles are the same. This place is by far much better than the pho hoa chain, and some of the other "independant" vietnamese noodle shops. Consistently good, large jumbo shrimps and crab claws in the special #1, and i believe definitely worth the wait if you have the time. or show up before 11:30. or pick it up to go on the way home from work.

    (5)
  • Edda S.

Pho Queen was pho-gettable! The best thing there was the Vietnamese coffee. The pho we tried lacked flavor and it was lukewarm. Do yourself a favor and drive a few more blocks down to Pho Nam instead.

    (2)
  • nehemias P.

I have to say that the soup was very filling and the taste was just your regular pho soup. I had to add everything on the table to make into a deeper tasting soup and in the end, it was okay. The price was fine, service was fast and yes, I would go back.

A bunch of us were hungry before our little poker night thing. After taking a little while to decide where to go, Ng, Yang, Sun, and I went to Pho' Queen to satiate our hunger. Rumor has it that it's a very popular place people go to during lunch hours since it's right near many of the Silicon Valley companies. Pho' sounded good, so I was excited. Originally I was going to get a rice dish, but I've had once or twice before a rice dish that was too small to satisfy anything. So, I opted for the #1 (the one with the most things) and a Mixed Jelly drink. Upon receiving the jelly drink, I opened up the container and was unpleasantly surprised--everyone commented that it was only half full. what the heck. i figured they probably measured it in one of their restaurant glasses first before putting it in the styrofoam cup. ehh.. life goes on.... We had to take it to-go, because we had to meet people back at the apartment. Anyhow, we got everything in styrofoam containers. When I opened up the one with the soup base, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the it was piping hot--enough to cook the food in. When I opened up the container for the ingredients, I was once again surprised at the fairly large crab claw and the jumbo shrimp. MMM! I was hungry. I dumped everything into the soup base, but noticed there wasn't much noodles nor much else of meat other than the two treat ingredients. "eh", I said, and dug in. It was pretty tasty overall, except I noticed that the soup base was quite bit salty and not too flavorful. The other ingredients were pretty good, though, so that made up for it. I was just griping that there was so little noodles in my 'medium' #1. Normally there would be more than this amount of noodles in there. Least to say, I'm sorry, but I wasn't too impressed. Maybe it was the whole take-out thing or it was later in the evening and they were running out of food or something. I don't know. It was unimpressive. It filled the stomach, but not in the best of ways. I wasn't full afterwards, even with the jelly drink. I, personally, wouldn't recommend it. Sorry guys to disappoint you. Did i mention the natives were restless later on last night? THAT was not fun. This made the star rating go way down.

Solid tasty Pho. Like many other reviewers have stated it does not warrant the lengthy weekday lines, especially when there are other similar Pho places in Sunnyvale. If you are coming at lunchtime get there at 11:15, it's early but you can hoepfully beat the crowd. Tea tastes "poisonous." Springroll tastes "delicious."

Good Pho - but man what a crazy line at lunchtime!

Good Pho! I came at lunch time the other day with coworkers. Although the wait looked bad ... maybe 10 or so people lined outside the building, it only took about 5 minutes to get seated. One guy came out and gave us menus while we waited and when we reached the door he took our orders, then we were seated. The Pho came quickly and I thought it was very good. The soup base was tasty and there was a good ratio of meat to noodles. I tried the salty lemonade and liked it with soda. The small bowl of Pho was filling and only cost $5.50 -- yum! Parking is the only downside ... plenty of cars were trolling around for spots when we arrived, but we snagged a spot quickly.

Pho Queen is amazing.. I work in the area and have tried quite a few pho places and none compare to Pho Queen... This place is fast, great tasting and always busy which is a good sign... you might wanna head there before 11:30 or after 1 to beat the rush... the only downside is they don't have fried spring rolls ha ha my weakness.... The meat they use is always fresh unlike some places Ive been and their broth is amazing. I highly recommend this place

If your looking for the best Pho around the Sunnyvale area without having to drive down to Tully and the Eastside this is as good as it gets. The broth their is downright good. There is also a Pho Hoa around on El Camino but that stuff is just some fast food Pho and they have some other ones but non to my liking unless I have to drive down to the Eastside. Wish they had eggrolls here but they don't and they are cash only. If you go during weekdays at lunch it starts to get packed and the line goes outside so get there early. But damn the Pho is gooooood!

The pho here is O-K.. i've had better. The broth is not as fresh or as good..I alway get the rice dishes which is wayyy better than the noodles. The service is ok . A bit pricey for Vietnamese food though

Decent bowl of Pho but I never thought it warranted the line out ther door that seems to be there with every weekday lunch. The ambiance is typical Pho house (except the wait) and parking in the area can sometimes be a bitch. There are 3 other Pho places nearby on Lawrence that are just as good but don't have the parking and wait issues.

I am the pho master. I love all types of pho and love alot more than most pho lovers out there in the world. I have tried almost every pho restaurant in the bay area and trust me when i say this.... Pho Queen is probably the best pho restaurant in san jose area. There are alot of pho restaurants in east san jose that are really good, but Pho Queen is hands down the best because of the consistency of the pho. The #1 seafood special pho soup is the best soup i ever tasted.

Two days in a row at Pho Queen since it's so close to my new office. Overwhelmed with the long line during lunch time, therefore, take-out would be my option. Beef needle soup (S) and rice plate were my two orders. The food is around 50 cents more than the other pho places. Fresh bean sprouts, clear HOT soup, and great service( the waiters/waitresses smile at you and fulfill your needs in no time) are worth the extra two quarters.

Just had an early dinner with my husband and the pho rocks. The broth doesn't taste only of salt but actually has real flavor. My grilled chicken was delicious and the lemonade was fresh (but still a little too sweet for my taste). Only downside was the waiters don't really speak English very well so I gave up and just pointed to what I wanted. Place was clean and parking wasn't a problem. Cash only but prices were affordable. Definately planning on coming back!

This place is ok... not bad... it's a pho place. nothing groudbreaking or different. Be sure to get there early for lunch(11:30 or so) cuz it's gets crowded and the local tech businesses feed into it.

Pho Queen far out good deals on hearty servings of every variety. The wait is short, even though the line looks long.

Pho Queen has one of the best Pho in town (I think). I only giving 3 stars because my friend and I both found nose hair inside the spring rolls. I complained and they gave me new ones. I understand you can find nose hair in the food but both our spring rolls had them. I don't think I never want to see inside the kitchen.

I love this place. Although you have to get there before noon. Otherwise, forget about it! The line is out the door. I normally order the No. 1 Special, hits the spot all time. Especially now that it is very nippy outside. The broth has great flavor and service is your typical no-nonsense Asian WTFyouwant to order attitude. : )
