They get two stars, if only for POTENTIAL. The bar itself is large, by a lot of Irish pub standards. Nice seating areas, indoor and out. Heated patio, two beautiful dart boards. They provide darts. Their pub food is quite good, save a few (idk how) freezer burnt fries. This is where the compliments end. First I get the weakest drink I've ever had. That was remedied over the course of ordering more. An odd policy, but one a friend of mine discovered who got there before me. Our waitress must have thought she was working at that place where they talk smack to you, because for every request, she had some retort. She was great at what she did as far as taking our orders, everything correct, etc. Maybe it was an off night, but please, saying things as you walk away, or arguing with them is really not a good idea in this industry. We went on a slow night, but meh.

This place is awesome. Tasty food, friendly staff and good drinks.

Bar tender was preoccupied with what appeared to be family so service was extremely slow. Food was good and overall not a bad place to watch a game. I sat at the bar as I usually do when dining alone, so I ordered my food and drinks from the bartender. I found it odd that I received 2 separate checks, apparently they keep the bar and restaurant stuff separate regardless of how you place your order. It appeared customers at tables had the same issue. Just a strange observation.

I usually take the caltrain to this bar on the weekends. The place is great fun, the bartenders are fantastic and the music is usually poppy or eurotrashy which is great fun. The beers are around $5 a piece on average so get a pitcher and save yourself some money. The back patio is lovely on a nice evening and even when its cool out they have heaters.

I can't tell if I like or dislike this place. The drinks are...drinks, nothing spectacular. They aren't too expensive, but the specials never are great (if they are around, sometimes the special is no longer the special). The food is pretty bad, but that's not Fibbar's fault, as I understand they bring in food from somewhere else. On their busy nights, they don't get very busy. But you know, it's still a nice place to visit. Most of the bartenders are pleasant enough. They have a really fun trivia night. They are conveniently located to CalTrain. All in all, it's not so bad. I wouldn't head here for a big night out. But if I'm meeting up with friends for something after work, this place is pretty dang good. OH, and they have lots of TVs and Sunday Ticket. That works.

Went here during a Friday afternoon before 5pm. The bar was pretty empty, there was a small group of 7 to 8 people who it turned out were my wife's coworkers who I was going to hangout with, so I moseyed on over and met a good friend and the night began....well sorta. A pint of Guinness or Boddingtons was $4.25. They have daily drink specials on a beer on tap and a specified cocktail ($3.25). The bartender was friendly and attentive. The waitress was friendly as well and was very upbeat the whole time I was there. The smoking patio in the back had friendly patrons calling me over so I could use the ashtray and engage in some weird conversation. Fun times! There were some appetizers ordered but I was in the mood to drink more than eat. So next time I'll have to try out the eats! Watch your step in the bathroom.

Worst experience last night. Rude and racist server, expecting a tip for a "to go" order of fries and behaving very rudely. Even the manager didn't care. Husband walks in to get a "to go" order of fries. Pays, and is told to come back in 10 mins. Yes he didn't feel it was necessary to tip for a single order "to go" fries BEFORE he got his order. He comes back and is told to wait. Server says "you didn't even tip, so I'll get to it when I get to it". Husband sits there for 5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins and realizes the fries were ready since a long time! So he approaches the server to ask about it, she again tries to get away. He finally gets his "now cold" fries and escalates to the manager. He also explains - yes let's talk about this. Waits another 5 minutes but server does not have time, or decency to sort out customer issues. Manager too didn't seem to care. Husband walks out and we had to trash those fries, they were neither hot nor well-made or tasty. My own opinion about tips - they are given AFTER we get good service!

Have been here a couple times for trivia night. They have Irish / pub food that's actually good. Beer menu is large. Trivia is fun.

It's totally worth for what you pay, this place was tiny and it was completely packed... Very Reasonable prices for drinks ($7 for 7n7) and cover($5)... Nice place to hang out with friends, and kill some time... Go!

I give 4 stars for the food and it was nice sitting on the outside patio, but only 2 STARS for service. My friend and I went to lunch on a Friday afternoon and while the food was great (we both had the shepherd's pie), it took FOREVER to get our food, and we never did get the salad that was supposed to come with the order!! Our 1 hour lunch break turned in to 2 hours. When it came time to pay, the server was not willing to split our check because she was too busy, which has never been a problem anywhere else. And to top it off, I had a $5 off coupon that I forgot to use, my fault though. So...good food, but go when you have plenty of time to sit around and wait!

Worst place ever!!! me & my friends were here last night & the staff was so rude & RACIST.. they took my drink while it was still in my hand at the time of closing... I asked him to gimme one sec as i was still drinking from it.. but he snatched the glass from my hand, so i looked around & there was a group of white chicks stil sitting & their glasses full filed with drinks were still on the table, this was after 10 mins of one of the staff showing the urgency of shutting down the place. First of all snatching the glass from someone's hand is just not right & then i see other white ppl still drinking.. so i went & complained to the manager about this & she cudnt care less.. we made a bill of $1,300 that night as we were 10-11 ppl. I would say its their fault that they lost regulars like us.. me or my friends will never go back here.. there are plenty of other bars in bay area.

Fibbar's is my favorite place to stop on Murphy Street. The manager is so nice (I forget her name) she always checks on us a few times to make sure we are happy with our food and drink. Julian is our favorite bartender there, she always makes sure we have everything we need and is willing to work with us to get the Sharks games on the TV if nobody else objects.

We went here for St. Patrick's Day 2012 celebration. We actually planned on going to Murphy's Law which was across the street. We did pass by Murphy's Law but it was a very small place and already packed at 5pm. We wanted to eat dinner before drinking and there was no available table. So, we walked across the street for Fibbar MaGees. We were greeted with friendly smiles. And even though they charged $5 at the door, the place was big. They had tables all around and outside. It was a cold and windy evening but they have a stand-up heater lamp. We ate outside and got spoiled by the heater. It was rolled out beside our table while eating. We of course ordered their Corned Beef and Cabbage special with their Guinness Stout. I loved the big plate. The sauce was awesome and the veggies were cooked perfectly. Service took good care of us as well. They never failed to come out and check on us, even though it was cold and they were only wearing thin short-sleeved shirts. After dinner, we went back inside to party with our friends. It was a great reunion with Meetup friends of mine. The DJ played old and new songs that coincided with the big screen televisions hanging on the wall. Music videos displayed all around. Old school stuff made us reminisce the old days. It was fun. I enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick's Day at Fibbar MaGees. I wouldn't mind coming back again and again here. Lots of great drinks to try. We just started.

Sunnyvale definitely has some surprisingly good Irish pubs, and this is no exception. I love love love their shepherds pie. Definitely the best one that I've had. I've been here both for food and for their nightlife, and I had a great time at both. I loved how packed this place was during soccer season, so it was a great bar to come to if you really want a European experience. Overall, I think this is a really solid place, it can just get very loud and crowded, so you have to be in the mood to socialize or just talk very loud. :)

Bartenders seem to know many people coming in so I guess this place earns many regulars. They were very nice and, while preoccupied much of the time, the wait for drinks didn't get so long that it bothered me. I had a few and left after some friendly conversation with other patrons.

Another place on our Dishcrawl! Fibbar MaGees is your typical Irish Pub. A few plusses: - Wine and Whiskey Wednesdays! 50% off bottles of wine and 50% off all of their whiskeys including single malts! - Irish Car Bomb ice cream. I wish I could have tried it, but I gave up desserts for Lent. I can only imagine what it tasted like...Guinness ice cream with Jameson caramel swirled in. Mmmm... As far as foods, we had a selection of bar foods: - Fries - Fish poppers (ala fish & chips) - Battered sausage poppers I really liked the fish (and you can't go wrong with the fries), but the sausage was a bit too greasy for me. I'm going to go back on a Wednesday, very soon...

  • Stephen D.

Good bar.. great selection of whiskeys, which is what I cam for. The beers were very good also. The prices were as expected. I went on a thursday and a firday night with my wife. the thursday was pretty good, not to loud whereas Friday night it was so loud and crowded that you couldn't find a seat or spot at the bar nor hear any conversation. My wife and I left after about 20 minutes. At 45, it wasn't really my scene but if your younger it might be. Staff at both times were great and the place was kept clean even with a crowd..

Great place to go to if you want a casual Saturday night. Music was great!!!!! By great I mean throwback 90's hiphop :) Bartenders were on point . The crowd was predominantly mid 20's to mid 30's with your token cougars ;).

Not the place I'd think of to spend my Saturday night, but I did. It ended up being pretty fun. Around say 10pm, they have a DJ and the bar...poof! becomes a club. Just be careful to not make the same mistake I did, and wear flip flops on the dance floor. Ouch!!! Yes high heals smashed right into my poor foot, as I was walking towards the bathroom. Regular time, this place is your average Irish pub. Nothing outstanding about it. Dancing time, they play a lot of mixes that are fun to dance to. Beware of the over used fog machine. LOL

Good bar food (nice, thick-cut fries), great selection of draft beers, OK service (we were there on a Wednesday afternoon, and the bartender had a bit of an attitude)

This has become one of my favorite lunch spots. It is definitely what you would expect from any other Irish pub. There is one thing I go here for and that's the shepherd's pie. It has just the right amount of meat to veggie ratio, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheese. I usually ask for a side of fries instead of the extra steamed veggies. The service seems to be a little hit and miss but recently has been pretty good. The last time I was there we never had an empty glass and the food came out pretty quickly. I still wouldn't come by if I were pressed from time. It's just not that kind of place. I can't say much about the pub-ness since I've only been by during lunch hours. But it looks like somewhere to kick back with a Guiness and whiskey while you play darts and watch all the TVs. If it weren't for the fact that it costs me at least about $15 each visit, I'd be here a LOT. Maybe next time I'm there I'll try a burger.. Haha! Just kidding!

  • James O.

Horrific DJs. Management must not pay enough to get quality. Seriously, one look on the dance floor and you can see. Everyone is just bobbing in place waiting for a decent energetic song but, when it comes, it's only played for maybe 45 seconds before another ridiculously bland tune replaces it. If you consider yourself the lowest common denominator, these DJs are for you.

Irish bars are the best cultural bars.the irish drink like no other and it pays to know some Irish bartender on st patty's,especially those servers of legal brew at ole fibber. I really like this place and I come back again

  • Elly R.

This place is always crowded and loud. Can't speak much for the beer, but cocktails are hit and miss. Depending on the bartender, I can either get a super watered down or an extra concentrated liquid. So far, I haven't had a good drink yet. Plus one star for having fun trivia nights.

I don't know where to begin with this place. I have been a regular here for a few years. Whether it is a Birthday, New Years Eve, St. Patrick's Day, or just a random evening during the week/weekend I have always had the best service. I suppose I could start with the reasons I became a regular here, Nick and Linda, who were regular bartenders when I first started coming here, then I got to know the entire staff on a first name basis. Hands down one of the best bars I have been to in all my years of being able to drink legally. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food (burgers at least) are reasonably priced and portioned generously and the staff, again, is AMAZING!!! The music they play (depending on the DJ) gives a good variety and never disappoints. TL;DR-Awesome bar. Check it out. You won't regret it.

Typical, average, wood-paneled, rustic Irish sports pub with lots of large TV screens. Wide-ranging beer selection and pretty good, if somewhat pricier, menu of bar food favorites. Service is quick and efficient. Also very good Trivia Tuesdays consisting of several rounds covering wide-ranging topics. Definitely a favorite for many folks as can be seen by the larger groups that show up here and score very well on the trivia (at least 8/10 per round). There's an outdoor patio in back, and, as others have mentioned, this place does get fairly busy on weekend nights with a DJ, dark lighting, and a motley, somewhat divey assortment of locals.

I came here on a Saturday night and they have a $5 cover which I think is the same as their sister bar Molly Magees in MV. The music was a mix of top 40, some EDM, some rap, and some 80s which was cool. They had a video DJ going on while I was there and you could see the videos changing as songs transitioned. The nice thing about this place is that they have a lot of micro brews on tap ($7 a glass seems to be the price for these) which was nice as I like trying out new beers I haven't had before. Regular bottled beer was $4 which is cheap considering I'm used to prices in SF being like $8-9 for bottled beer. Overall, the place didn't get too crowded and the people there were pretty nice with everyone looking to have a good time. While this isn't my go-to for clubbing, I'd definitely come back.

I've lived in the South Bay for over a decade now, and only recently started going to Fibbar Magee's. I come early in the evening for the food and drinks, and I haven't been disappointed. There is a very good selection of draft beer (IPAs, lagers, darker beers, and wheat beers). The food is surprisingly good for a bar. Solid burgers and salads. The fried oyster appetizer was good. Fries come in two varieties, fat or skinny. And after I discovered the house-made potato chips, that has become a go-to side. I think the only improvement they might make is to put one or two Belgian ales (a dubbel or maybe a quad) on tap. And maybe a wee-heavy. That would be awesome. Update (8/2014): Okay, I've been back a few more times. This is the best place on Murphy Street for food and beer. The taps rotate fairly frequently. The Belgians have shown up from time to time, and they even have a wee-heavy on tap right now, albeit on nitro. Bumping it up to 5 stars.

Good food, HORRIBLE service. Came in for lunch today with some friends, had to ask for menus, our waitress didn't come back to our table after she dropped off our food, we had to ask for the check. Good food is easy to find anywhere, not worth coming back in here.

I love coming here with friends. It's close to home and I always have a good time. It's a fun place to hang out, dance, and drink. There's even a back outdoor area with heaters. It's chill and there's no cover. The dance floor is a little small, but it's spacious enough that you're not gonna run into the next person (unless it's packed that night). I've even come here on a Sunday night and it was cool! When the DJ isn't playing, they have a music machine that you can use to play songs of your choice.

  • Susan D.

My girls and I hit up Fibbar MaGees the other night for some drinks and a little dancing. It was a great time, as the crowd is diverse and full of real people and not the plastic types. haha. There's no cover. I've been before for lunch and the Shepard's Pie is a good dish to order. They also have a patio, in case you bring your doggie with you. :-) That's my quick update. See ya there!

This place gets 5 stars for Wednesday nights and 3 stars for Friday nights. Wednesday is whiskey Wednesday. If you like to drink whiskey (read: drink, not shoot), come and get the good stuff at a price that won't break the bank. As for Friday, well, FMG turns into a typical dance bar/club place. Nothing special, although it does have a considerably better beer selection than most dancey bars I've been to.

Yearly visit with friend: Irish stew was excellent and meaty, and fish and chips were fresh. Guinness was foamy and rich- fantastic!

    (4)
  • Jason G.

Love this place. Guinness is my favorite beer and I don't know how they do it , but the Guinness on draft here is by far and away the best I've had stateside. Probably the most surprising thing about Fibbar's is how good the food is for a bar. I've had the Shepherd's pie and the Irish Sausage&Mash and both were remarkably delicious. On weekends they do bring in a DJ later in the evening to cater to a younger crowd but that is OK....since the beer keeps flowing! The only negative is if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke the smoking areas are very close to the doorways in the front and the back and with a cross-breeze it brings the the smoke into the building.

For being one of four pubs on Murphy Street, Fibbar's is the last I tried and my new favorite. We had an extremely affordable happy hour meal there last night, and it highlighted the three things I like most about this place: 1) Seriously decent food 2) Cheap drinks 3) Chill music and vibe I'm not one to single out any pub grub as outstanding, but Fibbar's is quite good. They are the only place on the street that doesn't bread their chicken wings, and while they aren't available in Stupid Spicy like the Firehouse, they pack some kick. I had the Fish Bites and Chips, which is like the Fish n Chips only $9 CHEAPER. Still more food than I could eat. Wednesdays is half off wine and whiskey, and the normal happy hour is solid. Very, very good value overall. I've walked by when the music or game was loud, but it was beautifully chill last night, and I really appreciate the little screen-free section up front. Cozy.

I'm Canadian. Ergo, I am a self proclaimed expert on beer and the establishments that serve them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Went to Fibbars last night for dinner. Hadn't been in about oh ... 10 years but seemed to recall excellent fish 'n chips (another topic I'm an *expert* on). Arrived around 8:30 and it was steady but not overly busy and we were able to get a seat by the window. Our waitress arrived to take our drinks order; I wanted a Boddington's. The waitress looked at me rather puzzled and asked, "Is that a beer?" OK, so it may not be the most common beer on the planet but it WAS on the menu. One would think that if you work in a restaurant you might umm ... know what's on the menu? Dinner arrived shortly after. My fish 'n chips were meh. The steak fries came "seasoned." I do not like seasoned fries. I am perfectly capable of seasoning my food. And these were REALLY seasoned. To the point that I couldn't eat more than one or two without going into sodium overload. The fish? Crrrrrrunchy. Crunchy as in "rip up the roof of your mouth" crunchy. The boyfriend had chicken strips which were plentiful but just OK according to him. The search for my new favorite pub continues.

This is a great bar to watch football on Sundays, or sports on any night for that matter. Fibbar MaGee's has a TV on every other panel along their walls. Even the bathroom has a TV, so you won't miss a second of the action. It's a cool pub space with a bunch of seating including an outdoor area.

Update After a very nice message from the owner, my coworkers and decided to give this place a second shot. This time the food was a bit better than last time. The service was also within the acceptable realm. I still don't think this is the type of place you want to go to if you're in a hurry. However, if you have a little while to dine alfresco and sample some gastro pub grub, it's not a bad place to stop by. I'm also raising my rating from 2 stars to 3. -------------------------------------------------------------- The food was ok. However, our lunch order took over 45 minutes to get to our table. That type of wait is simply unacceptable at lunch time. An impromptu addition to our party ordered at the bar and his food came out in a few minutes. Shockingly, the same waitress that took our order and ultimately brought us our food also delivered his. I don't know where the disconnect happened. I don't really care at this point.

I have always had a good time whenever I've gone to Fibbar MaGees and St Patrick's Day was my first time back in a couple of years. Fibbar's was packed, as expected on St Patrick's Day and they were also charging a $5 cover, no worries, I was going to hang out with some friends I hadn't seen in ages and that right there is priceless. This place is huge and even has a back patio, where I remember the first time when I came here, I played some flip cup with friends. Good times. Beer is pricey here as I overheard that a pitcher of Harp was $22! So my advice to you is come during happy hour and if you want to avoid wall to wall people, avoid coming here on St Patrick's or any other drinking holiday. So, if friends are going to be here, I'll be here. Till next time!

I came here on a happy hour outing with coworkers and found it's a great little irish pub to bring a group, watch some sports (if that's your thing) and blow off the workday steam. They have a good selection of beers and a decent selection of scotches/whiskeys. The place is roomy and comfortable and gets packed in the evenings so definitely not the place to come if you're in the mood to have quiet conversations. The service is friendly and bar area large. This is the type of place you go to to keep it simple...order a beer or something served neat. In my experience, mixed cocktails isn't their expertise if it involves more than 2 ingredients, but I'd still come back to enjoy a good beer.

02.10.11 Tan T: This place is like my Cheers. Everyone knows my name. I'm in Sunnyvale once in a blue moon. Tan has been talking this place up for months, if not years. I had to take the opportunity to check it out. He's right. Everyone knows his name. The bartender, the waitress, people sitting down at the table. We got our drinks and sat down with his friends. We played beer pong (and set the table up ourselves). I lost by a cup. I blame it on wearing heels. But Tan took it easy on me anyhow. It really is a friendly, neighborhood bar. I can see why Tan likes it. Also, the restroom is clean. Plus!

I came here on a Saturday evening (~7PM) with my girlfriend and another couple. The place was buzzing with sports fans catching the Sharks game and baseball playoffs, but we were able to find a table to sit down. Being an Irish pub, their drink and food menu was definitely tailored to that theme, with an extensive scotch and whiskey menu as well as a good selection of beers. Since I was driving, I decided to skip the drinks and order some food. Besides the standard bar fare, there was a nice collection of pub and Irish food to select from. I ordered the bangers and a side of veggies and grilled onions, while my girlfriend got the shepherds pie. Both were surprisingly delicious. The service was iffy but the food and drink was great so we will be back again.

I'm glad to have found this place in an otherwise quiet and not so fun 'Sunnyvale downtown'. They have a small dance floor inside playing good music including 90's hip hop, electronic on Friday's and Sat's. Not sure about Sunday's. It gets pretty crowded though after 10:30 pm, so finding a place to sit can be difficult. The music is pretty loud and this is probably not a good place to have a conversation.

**DARK BAR WITH MUSIC IN DOWNTOWN SUNNYVALE** Second stop of the post UYE bar crawl. Pretty dark in here. Not hot, just dark. NO COVER. And they had a DJ. SWEET. Bartenders were friendly and efficient. Strange mix of people: mullets, NASCAR jackets, and bad teeth. Joon Y. and I had another dance-off here while our Yelp friends cheered us on. The bouncer warned me about taking off my shoes. And he also warned Joon about break dancing. FORBIDDEN. We made the most of it. THE END.

The epitome of a typical no frills Irish pub. Belly up to the dirty bar and swill back some Irish culture. I came here to pass some time and found myself desperate for distraction amongst those quietly attempting to beat their liver into a slow sad submission. Perhaps this was an off night, but besides the raging alkies observing the muted sports with glassy eyes, I found nothing else of interest here. I viciously stabbed at my phone with my off-hand until escape arrived. I then fled.

Came here on a Saturday night. Good music (old and new hip hop music). No cover. Nice bartenders. Expensive beers. Crowd mostly middle-aged and strangely diverse. Dark and smoky. Music is a bit loud to sit and chat but great for people dancing. Overall, Fibbar is a decent pub... it's just not my kind of place due to my crowd preference.

  • cynthia r.

Bartender couldn't hear my order. I ordered 2 modelos and received supposedly 2 long islands that tasted like lemonade with no alcohol. I was charged for the long islands and wasn't given the difference. I don't get how modelo sounds like Long Island. The music is great but the bartender might need a hearing aid!

Nice service, but cookie cutter generic. Irish lamb stew kicks royal ass, freshest tender lamb, flavor marries guinness stew gravy most exquisite, in its depth filled delight. Everyone here is rather spent, patron wise. But fuck them. Get the stew and leave. Price of beer, not just non profound service, renders four stars

Wow, these guys have taken the craft beer to a new level. There selection is outstanding, love it,keeping their integrity as an Irish pub and having great beers to go with it, knowledgable staff too which helps when you are trying to make a decision with so many options!

Not bad. Not bad at all, at least on a quiet Wednesday evening. After having stopped in once before on a St. Patrick's Day when they might not quite have been at their best, we were able to give them another go as part of a dishcrawl group. We had some of their bar bites from the happy hour ( 4-6:30, M-F ) menu - the "Fish Poppers" are smallish chunks of battered and fried fish, and remarkably crisp and ungreasy. Much better than expected. They also have "Sausage Poppers", which were somewhat less to our taste - the sausage flavor comes through loud and clear - but equally well prepared. Both come with decent thick-cut fries. You can't ask much more of bar food. The beer selection runs heavily toward the British/Irish, with Boddington's on tap, as well as Guinness and the gaggle of nominally Irish brews which follow in its wake. It's a large tap list, but without a lot for the beer snob. They've got a nod in that direction with Lagunitas IPA, Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada ... but nothing out of the ordinary. The Whiskey selection is impressive, and they offer half off on Wednesdays, which is a pretty decent deal if you're looking to try out some of the higher end Irish blends or Scotch single malts. We finished up with a scoop of a special Car Bomb ice cream - Guinness ice cream with a Jameson caramel swirl - about as good as it sounds, and if you're like me, it sounds plenty good.

The food still isn't great. They seem to go through phases where sometimes they outsource it to next door and other times it's their own kitchen. It's serviceable as bar food, but not somewhere I would go to eat. Tuesday night trivia has become more lame since they changed the person who MC's it. The horrendous pronunciation can be forgiven (very few of the dozens I have seen can pronounce things correctly) but her lack of humor makes it far less fun. The only redeeming quality about this place now is the server Missy. She's got a razor sharp memory for customers and a quick wit as well. Over all with the decline of Tuesday trivia, I can't see a reason to continue to come here

I rarely write updates unless I feel it warranted to do so (i.e. the business either stepped up their game or majorly dropped the ball). Last night's experience at Fibbar's earned it an extra star. Why? Simple - the music. Having been a club DJ, I'm always conscious of the music in a bar and how it sets the mood. That said, whoever put together the musical selection last night might've raided my iTunes library. In the time I sat there, enjoying my Macallan, I heard: - New Order - Doves - Blur - Fitz & The Tantrums - The Jam - Pulp - Joy Division - Primal Scream - Modern English - The XX - Echo & The Bunnymen - The Smiths - Mumford & Sons "All killer, no filler", as they say. If they keep rocking music like this during they week, I'll keep coming back.

Friendly staff, great drinks, live DJ, tiny dance floor. You can stay as long as you want no matter how crowded it gets. My coworkers and I tend to stay for hours! Decent Happy Hour (4-6:30pm)...you get a dollar off drinks and the food is a few bucks cheaper. I'd recommend getting the Curry n' Chips if you want a snack with your drinks, it's really tasty!

There is no way in Hell you can go into Fibbar MaGees and NOT have a good time! I've been going to this place for almost 10 years and it never disappoints! The food is excellent, I especially enjoy their Shephards Pie! They have a great selection of draft beers and ciders too!

Nice spot to stop on in, staff are pretty friendly and they have a few drink specials on certain nights. There was a good DJ when we stopped in with some great music with the music video, that alone made me want to come back. I believe his name was Dj Ri-Lo, but he was a fill in and isn't there on a normal basis? I think that's what he said... Overall, it's a place to stop by and have drinks, hang with friends with a little dance floor and an outdoor area with seats and tables for anyone who wants air... or a smoke area.

This place is like Cheers for us. Cozy, homey, inexpensive, and down-to-earth. I could live without the DJ/club thing going on after 9pm though. It's so much better when it's your friendly neighborhood Irish pub!

I brought my coworkers to S Murphy Ave to pick a place to eat for dinner. Of all the ethnic variety of restaurants, they just wanted to drink, so Irish pub it is! I remember Fibbar Magee's having a pretty good menu of apps the last time I was around a few years back but now, they outsource their food to Gumba's Italian restaurant a few stores down. I forget why. The friendly waitress explained why but I don't remember what she said. She was really nice and helpful. I guess I can't legitimately rate Fibbar's on their food since it's not really their food, but it was alright. I ended up having the Fettucine in Alfredo sauce with chicken. I hate when the chicken is dry and chewy. It just doesn't make the rest of the meal very pleasant. Overall, its a fun place to hang out, and the people are really friendly.

Fibbars is great! We are here at least once a week. The food is decent and the beer selection is great. The TV's are big with Sports, which is nice. We often sit in the 'Snug' with our kids for dinner. They have a kids menu to boot.

No Bueno. Apparently their popularity got to their head, was a really fun pub with a variety of crowd...now thinks they are the next Rudy's Pub (no comparison) and is lining up folks at the door and line picking favorites. Ridiculous, we just wanted a beer.

The fact that this place carries Glenmorangie makes me give it 4 stars and they carry a bunch of other Irish whiskeys and scotches. Cool place with a very mixed crowd. Ive been told that this is the best bar in the area. It reminds of a couple of different places in San Diego all combined into one place. Its funny, I asked for Glenmorangie on the rocks and the bartender needed me to point it out to her.

I reserve the right to change this review at a later date, upon further review. OK, Christina C. and I went here on St. Patrick's Day so I totally expected the crowd - that's no problem. What was a problem was the $5 cover - come on, it was bad enough having to wait in line but a cover? For a bar with no live entertainment? Major FAIL. The bar across the street (Scruffy's) had a $10 cover which was even more awful! ~ 0 stars for ridiculous cover!!!!! No green beer! No green decorations - not much of green anything. Another disappointment - we really would have liked to try the green beer! ~ 0 stars for stepping up the Irish ante! The bar is very authentic as an Irish bar - hand rubbed wood, brass rails and fixtures - the obligatory Guinness and Smithwicks on tap! Bartenders did a fantastic job inspite of the crowds - very friendly, prompt and responsive and appreciative when tipped. ~ 4 stars for ambiance ~ 5 stars for bartenders We didn't try to eat here - it was too mobbed - might come back some other day for food. One Guinness + 1 Bailey's later, we had had enough of this place. It was loud and lively but lacked the Irish charm I was expecting on St. Patty's Day. Ah well. The bartenders should make this a great experience but in view of everything else, I give it 2 solid stars. Maybe I'll change my mind the next time! # 55

This place has always been "my local", but you wouldn't believe what they've done to the place in the past few months. The owners put new a new manager and asst. manager in place and these gals "get it". The place has never looked better, they are doing new promotions, and as a "regular" customer, I can see that the crowds have picked up significantly (even though it's frequently very busy). In any event, I don't generally review places I frequent all the time, BUT they are doing such an awesome job, it was worth the minute or two to review it.

First off...let's just say that if this was not the only place to find steak pie in the area, I would have given zero stars. The poor experience began when I walked into the restaurant and no one was to be found. I actually had to walk up to the kitchen window and ask if anyone was here to serve customers. When the waitress finally appeared, after a further 10 min wait, she was less than welcoming to the establishment, not even acknowledging we had been sitting there without service. After finally tossing the menus on the bar, she walked away in order to text on her phone, without bothering to inquire whether or not we were ready to order a drink. Let's just say it never got better. The food was mediocre, at best. We ordered the steak pie, and Irish stew. HP Sauce was the savior to both dishes, as it is to all subpar dishes. Best part of the meal was the homemade Irish soda bread. The straw that broke the camels back was when our waitress blew her nose in the open office behind the bar. Look, I understand if you need to blow your nose, but DO NOT do it in front of customers. Go to to the restroom and wash your hands afterwards. I will not be back.

This place never fails me. Going out on a random night and don't know where to go. Fibbar's is the place. Basically know the whole staff by now. Drinks are not too over priced. Bartendars are cool. The music is always good. You get a variety of people that come here. From young to super old. Everytime I go here, there is always the same old man in his black leather vest breaking down on the dance floor. I love happy people.

Came for drinks one night with some friends. The drinks were fine and not too expensive. The bar was almost empty and the few people that were there were...special. Definitely attracts an older clientele. The problem was with the bartender. She was really rude and when we wanted to close out the tab she was sitting in the back room and pretended to not see us for a solid 5 minutes. The other problem were these really obnoxious guys playing darts who kept glaring at us every time we walked from the back to the bar which meant passing close to them. Seriously guys, it's darts... Don't take it so frickin seriously. There are so many better places to get a drink. Skip this one.

I'm a regular here - and it's always nice to have a place you can go to where people know your name and you can just be yourself. That's not to say it's not tons of fun. Beer pong, trivia tuesdays, DJ on Wednesdays and I'm so glad they re-opened their kitchen! Plus plenty of Irish accents! All I can say is, I love Fibbar's and I will always come here, any day of the week.

This is a nice hangout place if you're budget conscious. They're drinks are pretty cheap, and their food are decent. This place can be really crowded on the weekends especially on the holidays, so better come early so you can get a table. The place has a lot of sitting capacity compare to other bars that I went to, but the dance floor is small. The music is awesome and up to date.

Fibbars has good bar food and entertaining trivia nights. On Friday and Saturday they have a live DJ that plays 80s, 90s, now Pop and HipHop music with their music video. They have a covered patio area in the back for smokers, with heat lamps. In the summer they have seating in the front and you can enjoy the summer weather.

Really decent price on drinks! Came here last night to see some amateur standup comedy and had a good time. Whiskey n' cokes were $6 and they had PBR on tap. The pizza we had wasn't miraculous but pretty damn good for an IRISH bar. As my other Italian friend put it "someone back there is a paisan." I really like playing darts but didn't really have time to play. Tv screens here n there. Big enough to be seen but not ridiculous like at Hooters. We came on a monday night and it was quite dead...but if I'm in town on a Friday night, I bet it would be cool.

This is my neighborhood bar. The waitresses are slow and there's really nothing special about the prices, yet I keep coming here. It's close, there are no issues with parking, and the bar isn't packed with idiots. Check their website for specials: fibbars.com/specials.html

Indeed.. there was never a time i went there and returned without having a lot of fun(and a lot of beer too ;)) I live right across the street from Murphy street and one of the biggest advantages that i have is to walk to this place every friday. My friends come from as far as Milpitas and Fremont and join for a drink or two and this usually goes on for hours till they almost close. Love the food at this place as well (just fab.. especially the home made potato chips) Its indeed a jewel on Murphy street.. Good luck you folks.. you guys are awesome...

I had been going to Fibbar MaGees for awhile now to participate in their Tuesday Night Trivia. After each visit I would think to myself, "Why do I go there?". The food catered in by Gumbas is awful. The specials are never very good. (I once had a $4.00 Sex on the Beach served in a shot class) The waitresses are not attentive and can become rude and snarky. Along with, the waitresses never seem to possess the skill to split the tab evenly three ways. The only good thing about Fibbars is that their bathroom is always kept clean. If you're a die hard trivia fan and still want to head out to Fibbars on Tuesday nights plan on smuggling in your own food, bringing a lot of cash for drinks, and waiting in a long line at the bar because the waitress will probably never make it to your table.

I used to go here after work with some co-workers but that has stopped since this Jamaican guy with jheri curls from Guam tried hitting on me and wouldn't leave me alone and that's in addition to seeing the same guys over and over again who just don't know when to quit bugging us. I wish I was joking but I'm not. I'm going to say it bluntly --the mixed drinks here are crap. Their Mai-Tai is average. It's really a place that is only good for beer. Don't even think about trying any of the food here. Within the past few months, they decided to make this place bumpin' by adding a DJ and a dance floor. Prior to that, they had some local bands play some old covers. The only good thing about this place is the one waitress who always remembered us and knew what I wanted to drink (I honestly think that I was the only one in that bar who ever ordered the Sex on the Beach). In addition to that, the best thing that did come out of this place was meeting the under-aged Balloon Animal Guy who was managed by his mother. He made us a Jesus balloon with glowing eyes, Sonic the Hedgehog, Male Genitalia, and a turtle. I still see him around all over the Silicon Valley and SF. Yeah... I won't be back to this bar ever again. That Jamaican guy from Guam has terrified me for life.

4 stars as a bar. For food, an average 3 stars--pretty good but not amazing. Highlights: - Nicest pub atmosphere on Murphy street: it's a pub but not a dive (not that I'm against dives at all, but this is where it stands in the pub niceness scale). - Has cider: I think they had strongbow which is a good one - Pretty good food: I've had some shepherd's pie or a burger here from time to time and it was fine. - Pleasant lunch atmosphere: if you sit by the window you get good light. Some pubs you wouldn't want to see in the daylight, but this one doesn't make you cringe at all. - Like the combo of full on tables and higher up tables - Slow nights are still fun: nice place for a mellow drink with a friend where you can have space and hear each other talk Low lights (my flip side to highlights): - Man can't think of one now but doesn't mean it's perfect--I'm sure I'll be able to think of one next time I'm there. I continue to frequent this place when I'm downtown.

I still like Fibbars. I still like their outdoor patio. I still like the fact that you can order food from Gumba's and have it delivered to your table. What I don't like is the fact that I went there today to watch Alabama roll over Tennessee and found them CLOSED. My bad for assuming they would be open, but come on. They have tons of TV's inside and also have a few outside and there is always a game on so I figured that they would definitely be open on a Saturday afternoon during football season. WRONG. So I'm taking away 1 star. Sorry.

Let's see, a fireplace, whiskey on tap (you read that right), rich mahogany, friendly barkeeps and plenty of cold, refreshing draft beer choices. Yup, this takes the shillelagh as the best Irish bar of the seemingly dozens on aptly named Murphy Avenue.

Sometimes it pays off when you do your homework ahead of time, and other times it can become the biggest @!#$ tease. A couple of weeks ago a few of friends and I came to grub on some food and down few drinks here at Fibbar MaGees. I remember coming here a few times before but only for drinks. As the newbie I was I looked online ahead of time to try to come up with a game plan. The only thing that stood out was the breaded ravioli. Since it was only an appetizer I figured I could wing it and order something else on the spot. When it came to game time, I got fully rejected as they no longer serve the breaded ravioli, bummer! Strike #1. Despite my utter sadness I still managed to pick something else to eat. However, it was so lackluster that I don't even remember what I ordered. I do remember when my food came our waitress brought me the wrong dish (maybe I should have taken that as a sign), so she went back to fix it and I had to wait longer for my food. Strike #2. Luckily we ordered a combo appetizer so I was able to snack on those as my friends patiently waited until my food arrived before we started on our meal. Our waitress was nice, and considering the amount of people there that night and that she was the only waitress she did a good job. But I was startled when she asked if our chilled grey goose shots were cold enough. Eh, cold enough? After downing my first shot I know they were not chilled. Strike #3! As my experience with the food here wasn't the best, I've always had a good time here for drinks. It's a fun atmosphere with a full bar, HD TVs, 2 dart boards, and a patio in back for the smokers. Summary: Nice chill spot to have a few drinks with friends and great location to bar hop with all the other bars on Murphy Ave.

Stopped in with my wife and another couple to have dinner and drinks on a Saturday night. It was about 7pm, according to our waitress they serve food until 9pm. The best thing about it, the pizzas and some of the other dishes come from Gumbas Italian Restaurant which is right down the street. BBQ chicken pizza is pretty epic, definitely gets the Fat Ralphy seal of approval. Our waitress was amateur at best, I guess that is to be expected when you are at a pub that serves food. When we paid our bill it was put on 2 cards and there was a 20$ dollar bill. She charges the cards an even split and keeps the $20 for herself.....we were pretty surprised at the audacity it takes to do that. I pondered letting it go since we didn't clarify and the bill warranted a similar tip amount, but after a second thought I got up and asked her where the change for the 20$ was. Her service was pretty spotty, leaving things off that we ordered and when we asked her about the other salad, "Ummm, I got the three, that was it..." . No silverware for the group, etc. She was rather nice but could have brushed up on her table skills. At about 9pm, they start blasting horrible pop music circa 2000, smoke machine and lights.....pretty lame considering there were about 50 people in the entire place. The atmosphere before the "DJ" started doing his thing was nice, definitely go here again for lunch or dinner....but I'm cool off the crowd of 40-50yrolds trying to club at an Irish Pub at 9pm on Saturday. The allure of Gumbas pizza and drinks is too tempting, I will be back again.

My first time here was on St Patricks Day for lunch. Quiet when we got there but it quickly filled up. Everyone was so friendly! Our waitress Andrea was great! I had the shepherds pie which was yummy! My daughter had the Irish stew which was also good & came with some fantastic brown soda bread. Thick & filling. We sat around waiting for the Irish dancers enjoying the Irish video playing. The food came really fast & the staff were attentive. Well definitely be back!

There is a lot of potential here. The bar features a nice patio, dart room, many TVs including a big screen, and a juke box. Unfortunately, the booze, including the beer is a bit pricey. I have been here a few times and well, it took a lot of overpriced Jack and (diet) Cokes to let me have any fun. But they do help sponsor a local kickball league, which is always cool, and it's pretty nice inside. Well, at least I remember it being really nice after consuming a copious amount of overpriced Jack and (diet) Cokes. In grand scheme of things, this place is 3 to 4 stars in Sunnyvale. But it's a big world out there outside of Sunnyvale. And in Archie G's world, it's clearly 2-stars.

I have been coming to Fibbar's since 2005. It's a cool little hangout to just chill out and have some drinks. The have a covered outside patio and have darts. Several tv's all around including a big screen. On Fri and Sat night they have a cover band, but now I heard it's a DJ??? You can order food up until 10pm I believe and it comes from an Italian restaurant next door, Gumba's. I will say the one down side is this place seems to draw an older crowd. When I first stared coming it was mostly young people and something changed??? Fibbars will always have a special place in my heart, since I met my boyfriend of over 5 years here in 2005. We don't go too often, but we do come back every year on the day we meet and have a drink, maybe 2 :)

This used to be one of my fave pubs to hang out and/or catch an early AM game of footy at, but it honestly hasn't felt the same since former bartender Pat Brennan passed away a few yrs. ago. Since he's been gone, they've had some decent-to-fine bartenders and waitresses, but the way drinks were poured n' mixed during his day (and rendered by his associates of the time) were simply better IMO. I miss their steak and kidney pie which is no longer offered, but don't mind that they get their food from Gumba's since Gumba's serves some truly esquisite Italian cuisine. If I crave Gumba's sexy calzones with an Imperial snake bite [now referred to as a Black Velvet post Pat], I'll pop by here for a coupla rounds or four.

I have been there a lot with friends, the fat bouncer there has given myself and a few of my friends a hard time since he started working there. As a regular patron of that bar, I should not have to put up with rude fat bouncers.

Played here several times with a local cover band I used to sub-in for as a singer. Wow, its been a long time. Great place with really cool staff, and great customers... even if they are slow to get warmed up and onto the dancefloor. You know who you are! :) The outdoor patio is a must, and is a summertime tradition for many. The plus is that it makes it a great bustling spot for the whole communal feel. The minus is that tables out there are tough to come by unless you come early and save one.

I loved all the HD tv's around here. If I were around the Bay much longer, I'd definitely come back to watch more football games. I came on a Monday during happy hour during Monday Night Football and my friend was upset for me for watching the game instead of listening to him. The 4 stars are definitely for the nice seating areas, the cozy fireplace, and all the TVs. As for service, the beer was not ice cold, they gave lemons instead of oranges with our pitcher of Blue Moon, and the waitress kept forgetting to give us items we asked for i.e. menu, napkins, etc.

Good food.... with a terrible attitude. Went in there about 3 weeks ago because we enjoyed their menu from previous visits. We were a bit tepid in our desire to go, as service always seemed to be lacking... well our last visit has us in the AVOID mode. Went in. Sat down. Waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged. We flagged down a server to ask for a menu and she said "This isn't my table". I really didn't care whose table it was... I wanted the menu she had in her hand that she just took from another table. Well, that got the attention of OUR server who rushed over to tell her that she was moving in on her table. FINALY some attention! At that time OUR server asked us if we wanted a drink. My Fiance' ordered a wine, I said "Water for now". We got our drinks in a timely manner and waited... and waited... and waited. It was about 20 minutes (Almost 30)and finally I flagged her down and asked if she was ready to take our order. She said she would be right with us, and she was. I pointed out that our order was now 3 minutes outside the "Happy hour" window. I asked if we could get the happy hour prices and she got indignant. "All you wanted was water." was her reply. I pointed out that my partner had wine and we asked for menus. I also pointed out the distinction of "For now" with my initial order for water. She never answered my question but felt it important to be right, rather than do business. An exchange ensued. To be fair, it was busy but she was not a nice or pleasant person. We were not loud. We were cordial and polite. The manager gave us the happy hour price (She seems like a nice lady) but the little blonde with the short hair is a nasty rude person. Sorry Fibbar's I'm not spending my money in a place that treats me like I'm just an inconvenience.

No ginger ale. Waitresses were subpar at most. The music sucked so don't bother after 945 pm on a Friday unless youre aged 21-22. The tv didn't have videos in color. The "Dj" stopped and tried to get color with no luck. Only giving a 2 because they have pattys and prob is the only place on Murphy.

I love the ambiance at this bar! I have been going to this place for years and whether its for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I have always left with a smile!, Now the food is delicious anything I have tried I love and you can bring the entire family! The wine list has improved as if just for me~:-) If you want to just kick back for a meet up or Just Lunch this is the place for Sunnyvale people to hang out. And if you want to get your groove on(which sometime we all do...Dance Dance Dance..Thank you Downtown Sunnyvale! Thank you Fibbar's!

Cheap drinks, awesome shepherd's pie and really good, meaty, fresh fish and chips! :) AND the Olympics playing on the TV - what's not to love?! It was a Wednesday night and right before we walked into the bar, downtown Sunnyvale had shut down Murphy's Street and had a live band playing Bon Jovi (definitely gets points for that one) and Sir Mix-A-Lot (more points!). All the buzzing from outside spilled into the bar, making for some great atmosphere :) I think I'll definitely be back here soon for more shepherd's pie and drinks!

We totally missed out with this place - didn't even get to the point of being seated. We arrived. We noticed that only one table was occupied by two ladies having dinner. At the bar was the bar tender and what we presumed to be the hostess/waitress. They both looked at us, and then resumed their conversation. We waited. We waited. We waited some more. We cleared our throats. Then we waited. We waited. We waited some more. Then we went to the Fire House for dinner.

We ended up coming here last Friday and Saturday. It was pretty empty, even at midnight on a Saturday. There were maybe 20 people in the whole bar, and the dance floor was pretty much empty. One night there was an old guy on the dance floor by himself - I have to give it to management for coming up with that entertainment... Cheap drinks and no cover, but not hugely memorable. Probably the best place for hanging out in downtown Sunnyvale, but even Mountain View is probably more alive.

My husband and I ate here on Saturday during the Sunnyvale Wine and Arts Festival. The service was SLOW and not very pleasant. My husband ordered a salad which stated on the menu that it came with artichokes in it. There wasn't one artichoke, just lettuce, a lot of sliced olives and no dressing. I ordered a cheeseburger which on the menu said that it came with lettuce, tomato and pickle. None of it was on the cheeseburger. We both ordered ice tea, which came us very luke warm. The music was blaring way too loud. I'm sorry to have to write this type of review, but management needs to speak to the waitstaff about people skills and to check the dishes ordered from the kitchen prior to serving their guests to make sure your patrons are getting what they ordered! Thank you.

Once again, down town Sunnyvale gets an A+ for attracting a more mature crowd. And by mature, I mean the Cougs. I love Fibbars, definitely a great place for a great night of letting loose. Absolutely no judgment for getting drunk and shaking your ass off. Consists of daily drink specials, good vibes, and fun cover bands. If you have the means, I highly recommend this place.

I would give them zero stars if I could. We went to celebrate St. Patricks day today, 8 guys from work. They had a very small menu for today . We ordered fish&chips, Shepard's pie, chicken curry, chicken strips. No vegetarian dishes at all, no salads, nothing "green". The food was brought after 30 minutes, the service was horrible, we couldn't even get water. The food was just average, was edible but no one really enjoyed it Will never go back there.

This place is great. Awesome bar with great bartenders and staff. There are nights when they have a darts league, other nights they'll have beer pong, and every now and then they do wine or whiskey tasting. They have quite a few flat screen tv's and play good music though out the night. They have a facebook fan page that sends out notifications as to when they have special events.

Forgive me, but I think I must bust into some faux Hunter S. Thompson here Fibbar Magee's. You could almost see the high-watermark where the wave crested, mid-2000, rolled back, taking with it the fun regulars, the high tech execs who played with money they never really had, and bought cheap drinks by the dozen, the score, the gross, the ton. My god, what a time it must have been, must have been before the glacial erractics now scattered across seven nights of the same thing since things were better: food, drink, prices, the quality of lady sitting at the bar, the quality of lady sitting with her friends at tables; friends that were also of a certain quality. It's gone now, this wave, this flood, left behind are visitors and regulars who clung harder to the rocks, the bar, the time. They could tell stories of better times, of harder times, of times when one could go to Fibbars and get great service, have to elbow his way to make an order and then know that it was going to be good. Now, now you might return, tourists hopign to see what once was. The stuff's all there, everything but the vibe. It's busy, it's loud, it's a kind of fun that tries to convince you it's fun, but really, it's noise. Static. Fibbar Magee's. Dammit, man! What does a guy have to do to get a drink around here?

OK, I will be frank. This place has good food, and good booze. However, the crowd seems a bit too , um, redneck! What's going on? People don't start dancing until theDJ plays Staying Alive?! Which is at midnight on weekends. The DJ seems to know his mix BUT I need more "in season" dance beats. The live band is gone too. But then again, Fibbar Magees is one of my better bars. Like they have said, more mature crowd (although a little redneck), hence no yeller or howlers from chicks who left the house without their undies. The dance floor is not really that big, but it aint that small either. Sound is good, not broken or irritating.

I once spent 6 hours at this Irish Pub due to the combination of: 1. My NHL team went into 5 overtimes during the Stanley Cup Finals 2. There was a Crown Royal promotion going on that night and 2 of the Crown Royal girls decided to drink with us after their promo was over 3. It got too late to go home and cook dinner 4. I love Guinness Murphy street in Sunnyvale is rife with Irish bars but this one is my favorite. The Guinness is plentiful, the patrons are pretty cool, the staff is friendly, they have decent food for a bar and plenty of TVs. A combination of good attributes for a gathering with friends or to have a few pints while watching a game.

Last weekend I visited Fíbbar MaGee's. The place is nice and it's a typical pub with a wide selection of beers. I was there at 4PM and the place was quiet. The TVs were on and the stereo system was playing rock music. I looked at the menu and I chose to dine with a sheperd's pie. The plate came in about 5 to 10 minutes and it was really tasty. The ground meat was really yummy and juicy as well as a little oily (just the way I like it). I haven't had a sheperd's pie in a while and I dare to say that it's probably the best sheperd's pie I had in the past few years in Silicon Valley. Fíbbar MaGee's earns 4 stars. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 is that the name is misspelled (Fíbbar MaGee's and not Fibbar MaGees) and their sheperd's pie should really be called cottage pie (the one I ate had beef - the true sheperd's pie has lamb ... it also had 3 balls of mashed potatoes - the potatoes should be spread on the top of the meat).

When we lived in Santa Clara we would stop in here from time to time. They have a nice patio that we would like to chill out on, and it had heaters which was nice when it is chilly. The bartenders are hit or miss. Sometimes, it takes forever to get a beer which irritates me, especially when it's not busy) and other times they are fast and friendly (most of the reason for just getting 3 starts) They do have cork dart boards which is nice. I never ate here so, can't comment on the food. Parking was always easy here and we met a number of nice people. There is an older drunk guy that frequents the joint that will lecture you if he's drunk enough....

Came in for a late lunch, early dinner. Beer was cold. Friendly bartender., we ordered the dinner sampler. The stew was ok but the shepherd's pie and chicken curry were great! Lots of tv's and great playlist.

They no longer have dinner items made in house. They sub it out to other local restaurants. Only three menu items even try to mimic Irish or English food. It's still an okay place for a pint. But for food of this theme, I would rather drive to Duke of Edinburgh than walk to Fibbar's. Even restaurants are outsourcing.

As March 17th approaches I am reminded of a little St. Patricks Day fable. There was once a telecommunications company that starts with an "S" and ends with a "T" and at this company were many disgruntled employees from ages ranging from 25-35, prime years for optimum pent up issues directed at management, life or the lack thereof. They always talked about going out for drinks but never seemed to be able to get the group in synch. That was until St. Patrick's Day. The day started out much like any other day except in the backs of everyone's minds were big beers and loud conversation preferably with lots of profanity. They couldn't wait for the day to be over. Though they thought 2:30pm might be too early to go to the bar. 2:45 seemed more reasonable. Fibbar MaGee's was crowded, it was as if everyone in Sunnyvale was drinking from the same trough. There was the dumb girly girl, the frat guy, the nerd, the Casanova, the mom and the angry wannabe writer. They are having a decent time talking about how badly managed the company was whilst drinking Stella's in plastic cups, and various mixed drinks, and Newcastles and more Stella's. It's 6 o'clock and they're drunk and need a change of scenery, the mom can't walk, the Casanova is worried about her luckily the Casanova is there to drive the angry wannabe writer's neon to the next stop, this infuriates the dumb girly girl who wants all attention on her. On their way downtown Luchini by Camp Lo comes on and Casanova gets excited, angry wannabe writer says she'll make him a CD, the best CD ever, the most epic early 90's hip hop CD of all time. We'll see about that. They make their way to Dive Bar downtown and the frat boy's wife shows up entourage in tow. There's a jukebox, how entertaining. The gayest of the entourage gets to the jukebox at the same time as angry wannabe writer. There is a showdown. Gay boy plays Mariah Carey; angry girl begins to spew bitterness and sarcastic comments. She calls her boyfriend who, even though has frequented bars with her has never seen her like this. He is scared. She is so angry. Dreamlover is playing in the background. She shoulder checks a girl at the bar and continues to say sarcastic comments that likely make no sense. The group decides to go over to Toon's the angry girl and her boyfriend go home. It is only 8:30pm and this is St. Patrick's Day. Moral of the story: coworkers are not friends, that being said, they should never get wasted together even on the biggest drinking day of the year.

Went there on a Wed. and it wasn't busy, yet it took an hour to get our appetizers! The so called management was far from professional and can stand a class or two on how to deliver quality customer service. Two thumbs down for their food service.

I've been here quite a few times before but never had a chance to yelp it until today. If you're a beer and sports fan, this is the place to be. Fibbars actually upgraded their television just for Euro Cup and I must commend them for it. They've certainly gained my business by offering quality beers and food. The place has a decent bar menu and I found their Shepherd's pie truly savory. Friday nights are definitely fun with live music bands covering your favorite tunes... The only con is order service can be slow at times but it doesn't stop me from walking up to the bar and getting more beers...

I was just thinking, I have yet to find a good irish pub here in SF, that at least compairs to Fibbars. So if anyone knows of any please let me know! I heart most of my experiences at fibbars especially because it has been a consistent place for my kickball league back when I was a part of it. It was always our starting and ending point for our epic pubcrawls. The bar staff is generally cute girls and they are always cool with dealing with our crazy drunkass behaviors. The drinks are normal prices, the food is ok, fun karaoke, good live bands, decent dj's and a fun crowd.

This place USED to be fun. But the bartenders SUCK now. they replaced all of the nice, younger girls with more of those crotchety old european hag types. They play the same music all the time, and I never feel welcome anymore. Too bad, too because it used to be RAD. :(

I heart Fibbars. I'm not 21 yet, but it's a pub so I go in with my family from time to time. I'm sure I will come here when I turn 21 in two years. Really good fish and chips and a mean Irish breakfast is what it's all about. It's hard to find a place in California that actually serves black and white pudding, and real Irish bangers. It's a relief to know that if I for some reason was craving breakfast I could come here and eat some. It also doesn't hurt that they have my dad's Cider on tap here too. (Red Branch Cider from Rabbits Foot..)

Had a blast here a few nights ago. I ordered JUMBO shrimps, instead I got about 5 to 6 little ittttty bittttty tiny baby shrimps. If I recall, I think it was $13+. What a freakin' waste. But they have good deals on happy hour drinks. $3 /glass for Sam Adams. Servers and bartenders were fun!

A bunch of Asians and Mexicans hanging out at an Irish Bar? What the heck? Now that's something new and interesting, I guess!?! I've been here several times with Alan's friends and I've always had an interesting time! It's a great place to come after a long week to unwind and have a couple drinks. The bartenders are nice and make good drinks - kinda on the strong side tho! =) The food is just ok - I've had the fish n chips which were oily, but another girl had stew which looked yummy! There was a live band playing the last time I was here and it was awesome! It's more of an older crowd here but they really know how to let loose and have fun! We had a wonderful time hanging out with friends drinking and dancing the night away! Fun times. We'll be back again soon.

Time to get the "green" spirit going and celebrate the coming St. Patrick's Day next week. Start off with the Green Madness Irish Buffet at Fibbar MaGees in downtown Sunnyvale. Having never tried Irish food or pub grub, this was a great opportunity. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that: you know what they say about English (or, in this case, Irish) food: simple, salty, and the "that's it?" factor. The buffet consisted of corned beef and boiled cabbage, Shepard's Pie, carrots, and potatoes. It tasted interesting at first, but overall, it tasted like canned food you can buy at the supermarket. No wonder people drink more rather than eat at the pubs ^)^ But it was fun, nevertheless, to try new cuisines. Cool environment where GREEN lit up the dark atmosphere. Cool place to chill and have a drink!

Do you like being surrounded by ugly white people? Do you enjoy receiving hearing damage from old, played out pop music blasted at you by the megawatt? If you answered yes to the above questions, then this is definitely your place. On a warm Saturday night DJ D-Wack will be happy to throw on some Madonna, Vanilla Ice, and Justin Timberlake while ignoring any and all requests to put on something that wouldn't be played at a gay bar. If you're lucky, you'll get to see a fat balding white dude trolling the dance floor for both guys and girls in between the vomit inducing scenes of ugly couples making out (so THATS how ugly people are born!). Overall terrible terrible nightmarishly lame place. Unless of course you're all about dancing off rhythm to the worst music of the 80's, 90's and today.

The staff is what makes this place a winner for me. They're very down to earth and attentive. They have a decent selection of beer on tap (Blue moon, hello my love) & every-time I come here, I always manage to have a great time. The atmosphere is just very open and has an almost majestic feel. Is that strange to say about a bar?

Badass Music! 80's Pop videos most of the time on Friday and Sat. The alcohol drinks are a little on the light side last time I visited. A pretty mixed crowd which is a ok with me. The other bars on the street in downtown is boring compared to this bar.

I'm always looking for a new Pub; and Fibbar MaGee's has become my favorite place to go after work. Besides the good selection of beer; the staff is very attentive and they try not only to satisfy their customers but to also build a personal relationship. One has too also love the regulars here.

Fibbar MaGees is one of the best bars in Sunnyvale. It pretty much has something for everyone. Not only does it have its own dart room (with two bristle dart boards), but there is also a patio out back, a big screen tv inside, and a juke box. I've eaten here numerous times and the food is outstanding. They serve the usual bar food - burgers, chicken strips, etc. My only complaint is how expense the drinks are. $14 for a pitcher of beer seems like a lot to me and I don't think they have happy hour. My buddies and I used to come here every week from 3 - 7pm to play darts, but the high cost of beer has made us start looking elsewhere.

"Do ye believe in love a' firs' site?" Every time me and my friend went here, the same drunk Irish guy would ask her that. That's some good whiskey! I like this bar. It's still fun and cool and I love live bands playing lousy covers. It's a great hang out, run by real Irish people and the food is really good. I love the Irish pub look and feel. When can we go back?

  • Katie D.

Fibbars will forever be our "usual Saturday night spot". I can't even count how many times my group of friends and I have held up a table on the patio WELL into the early Sunday morning hours. The crowd is usually very mixed (polo shirts, Harley Davidson gear, dockers and high heels) and that's something to love about this little pub. The best part about Fibbar's besides the good bar food and the friendly waitstaff?.... the Blue Moon on tap.

  • Lu W.

Can't believe I've never been to this place. Excellent sherpard pie and lamb curry, sizable patio, excellent staging station for a bar hopping session. Two buddies and I started here and moved on to a journey of beers, wines, pool and a morning of hangover. I couldn't care less about their music, captivating conversation and guiness are a mix you rarely find in a pub - and we found it here.

if you're from the Emerald Isle, or simply enjoy Irish pubs... you will love Fibbars. Traditional fare and plenty of Guinness & Jaymesons to keep you singing Danny Boy at least until closing. Lots of TVs for sports lovers. Lots of through traffic passing by. On a good night, "decent" people-watching factor. A few too may software engineers on a bad night. This is not the hippest spot (hey ...you're in Sunnyvale, whatcha gonna do?)... but they do have live music on the weekends, including one AWESOME rock band named GravyBoat, which plays one Friday a month. (which is why I gave 3 stars) GravyBoat plays a ton of old & new rock, and are super tight. Check 'em out!

My experience with Fibbar's is limited to their Tuesday night (when they do pub trivia), but based on that it has great service, good pub atmosphere, and well positioned and not overly intrusive screens with ESPN etc. Their food is hit and miss, but their pizza (which they get from the pizzeria down the street is *excellent.*

Went here for drinks on a Saturday night with friends. Seemed like a decent crowd. There was a cover band playing 90's songs, which completely made my night. I love that crap. I was very surprised to find that the drinks were weak! I had to ask them to make my subsequent drinks stronger. They didn't. Others I was with also got weak drinks. We ended up ordering some straight up. Overall, not terrible. I'd give it another chance to woo me with it's sexy 90's music.

I went out to Fibbar's with some friends and we started drinking some beers. With our group of 8 people, we spent well over $100. When we asked for water, they claimed they only sold water by the bottle and they could not give us glasses of tap water. I am not one of those people who have to drink bottled water. In fact, I prefer tap water. Why waste the plastic of a bottle when it's not necessary? After a LONG struggle they gave us a pitcher of water, but said it was only an exception. I am sorry, but bars should want to give people water, to help their customers stay hydrated and reduce risk/liability. I don't want to go back there because of this.

  • Brett B.

What more could you ask for? It is a pub with real dart boards! The staff are busting their rears to keep the drinks flowing and have the most appropriate accents as well. In addition to the darts (do you really need more?) they have great TV's all over the place, cozy little areas for a little privacy and an area out back where you can sit outside with heaters and TV's. It is popular but not so much that you are waiting on drinks. Of course the barmaids work hard and you don't want to get in their way! Very enjoyable way to quaff a brew.

went here on a saturday night and had a blast! young crowd, great DJ, friendly waitress, strong drinks, dancefloor. what more could you ask for?? i also had an order of fries and couldnt finish them, the portion was ginormous! no credit card minimum either, which i appreciated. there's lots of seating too, and a cute little outdoor area.

I stopped by Fibbar's on a weekday for happy hour/dinner and it was so-so. The beer was great and the service was great (I left my debit card and the girl behind the bar was nice enough to hold onto it for me until I came back the next day) but the food was not great. Apparently, on weekdays the food is catered by Gumbas (up the street). We ordered a calzone and a sandwich which took nearly an hour to arrive and wasn't exactly what we ordered when it did get there. It's also a little inconvenient to have to pay the food runner from Gumbas and then pay the bartender at Fibbars later.

Good option for watching sports if you don't have a nice TV at home or didn't plan ahead to invite friends over and don't want to watch a game alone. The food is disappointing, even for a pub (I swear my expectations weren't that high) and the service was... confusing. Two of us sat at the bar and ordered a couple beers, the steamed artichoke, fried zucchini and the fish & chips. The bar staff had a conflict with the wait staff about who owned our tab when the food arrived. The wait staff showed up with a check for each item they brought out (and there was a conflict both times. Awkward). My friend asked about an unexplained charge on the second check and learned that it was a built in tip. I had ordered and paid for the steamed artichoke before the rest of the food arrived and realized too late that the wait person who delivered it didn't show me the check. She just told me how much it was and I added a few dollars on top for tip so I'm not sure if there was a built in tip on that check too. Good news for us was that the folks behind the bar were too busy--or too confused themselves-- to charge us for the two beers we had.

I need to go back to this place to see if it really is as awesome as it was the first time i went. First of all, i cannot give them 5 stars cus, for an irish bar, they did not have too many whiskeys, so the staple of jameson had to do with a few smithwicks mixed in. Band playing was semi-decent, but i could barely hear the music bc i was so enamored by the crowd. First, the old man who i am pretty sure i have seen as a crossing guard for the little school children with some out of this world moves. He was there, backpack in tow waiting for his ideal dancing songs and it was beautiful. Nice little 2 step, i can not help from smiling everytime i think of him. Next, the lady in red. Early to mid thirties - dancing MACHINE. Head spinning all over, blonde hair flying in anyone with 4 foot of her face. Just looking for a good time and a nice young man to take her home. The 'big' guy (both in size and everything else, just 'big') Also a dancing machine, lifting and twirling two small asian women above his head - disaster. After several jamesons on the rocks, i find myself in the bathroom with th 'big' guy proclaiming to me - 'i got these two feisty asians out there on the dance floor, but i promised my wife id be home by midnight, which one you want?' ummmm, big, even huge guy. Needless to say, i had a great time, and there were so many other great characters in this place i do not have time to describe. Hopefully next time i will have the same viewing pleasure. Ill be looking for you on the dance floor big guy, but dont forget to get home to the wifey by 12.

Fibbars is a fun spot just about any time. We used to wander over from an evening of beer and munching at Stoddard's and finish out the evening over a pint of Guinness or two, I would call myself a Fibbars veteran if we can include the 90s. I recently started going there again and it's every bit as good. The bands are hit-and-miss, but that's how life works. The Friday band a week ago [EDIT: It was The Switch, according to the band calendar on Fibbars website] was really really good, other times the bands are more loud than good. The dance floor definitely picks up as the alcohol flows-- last night, in fact, I saw a newly-married bride in white busting a move. The people working there all seem quite nice. I haven't met everybody, but those I've actually had a chat with are really interesting-- in fact, one person there in particular is "astonishingly interesting," to quote myself. I like a pub that's a little quiet to hang out with friends, and while hanging out on Friday is fun, it's a nice spot to go through the week to relax and hang out with friends you bring with you or new ones you meet there.

good setting and the bartenders are pretty nice i like to sit outside cuz theyve got tvs out there and the heat lamps keep you warm as you sit in the comfortable chairs. def gonna be coming here more often if you get hungry then you can ask for a menu for Gumbas Italtian restaurant down the street.....theyll even deliver it to fibbars!

The Irish (and English) are *not* known for unique food. You want something out of the ordinary, go somewhere else. This is your basic comfort food, and they do it well. Friendly service, good food, authentic Irish, and they know HOW to pour a Guinness (thank you). I didn't realize they even had mixed drinks... oh.. and yes, there are dart boards.

We stumbled upon this place during the Sunnyvale Art and Wine Festival this year, and have been back several times. We always sit outside in the covered patio area. They have sports on the LCD's outside and daily drink specials. The food is pretty good for pub food and the servers are always very friendly. I would recommend this location for a lazy afternoon with outside seating. The downtown area has lots of shops and restaurants and parking is always easy.

This place is staffed by people with awesome Irish accents, and they aren't faking. The place would be 4 stars - good food, good British beers (full bar too). Good burgers, good fish and chips, not spectacular, but good. Easy to have a conversation during dinner hours. They have a nice covered area in the back of the restaurant. But it's not exactly an awesome atmosphere - it took us 10 minutes to get our check tonight. Our tables had holes cut in the veneer. I mean, it's an Irish pub, it shouldn't be the nicest place ever. But there's some finish here that's just not quite right.

Irish bars are the best cultural bars. The Irish drink like no other and it pays to know some Irish bartenders on St Patty's, especially those servers of legal brew at ole Fibbars. Poddingtons on draft with Fish and Chips for lunch...I get cravings for the Shepherd's Pie too.

A bar is a place for adults. I go to a bar to relax in an adults only atmosphere. I go to a bar after working and volunteering hard all week and then working all day at manual labor in the house and yard. We clean ourselves up, we go out to relax. I do not go to a bar to hear the bartender's kids yell, "mommy, mommy, mommy" at her and then loudly scream their blond little heads off numerous times when "mommy" is busy working and won't pay attention to them. Lot's of people outside knew the boys which leads me to believe that mommy was an owner or manager. Bad, bad choice that night lady. I will not visit Fibbar MaGees again when other bars follow the law. This place has potential with great decor, great happy hour (except that's when children are still awake, apparently) and great snacks. The first visit we were really pleased. After the screaming bartender's children experience when even our waiter left the room, we will not return. There's no digging yourself out of that mistake.

This place definitely has attitude. The doorman was giving my friends guff for having out of state licenses, but all in a joking manner. The atmosphere was chill, the beer was cold - and the live band was good. I'd def. come back.

$2 lemon drops! YES! Sucks that I had to be DD yesterday but it was the thought that counts. The pros of this place would be the cheap fruity drinks, nice bartender, laid back atmosphere, and good dance music. The cons would be a minor scuffle that broke out on the dance floor and it seemed a little dead at times. Overall, a fun night for the birthday girl and her friends. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could.

I went here quite a few times during my bachelor years. For food, get the Shep Pie - you won't be disappointed. For socializing, the crowd that goes here ain't the same crowd you see in San Francisco (or, even Santana Row). Very few pretentious people here. BUT, that isn't always a good thing. Some morons go here ... the kind who are rude and think they are some biker gang playa. Service is very good at all times. Ambiance is like that of a genuine Irish bar.

You know you are cool when you meet friends after work on Thursdays to play darts. And you are even cooler to join the dart league, but we aren't that good yet. I just finally started making it on the round board thingy. Really, the employees here are fantastic. I forget her name right now, but she always makes the best Long Islands. I'm horrible with names-- the Irish woman is extremely nice, and poor thing I almost hit her with a dart last time. Not a great idea to put the dart boards so close to the front door-- and then liquor me up and allow me to handle sharp objects. If you are ever playing darts there and little Ben is sitting outside, ask him to come keep score for you-- he's awesome.

Good beer on tap and some surprisingly good food such as the Sheppard's Pie, which had nice ingredients and was well made and flavorful. Came for a group meeting: Liberty on the Rocks. We had the front area. Was a good venue for such a meeting.

I have been going to Fibbars for years and just love the service they give. I recently seen a lot of changes and i have to say, when you don't think your neighborhood bar can get any better it does. They have great $3.00 beers specials everyday and the food is AWESOME. The Pick and Mix is the best deal around! On the weekends they have live music, it is great. Back to the service. Jillian ,Rachel, Mary, Etc. You are the Best! I have never meet the most down to earth, BEAUTIFUL, fun, caring, did I mention BEAUTIFUL, hilarious , group of women. I always enjoy myself around you guys. You make me feel so comfortable when me and my gap tooth friend go. Thank you for everything. Next time Drink are on Me!

Pros: -Usually not crowded. (I guess this could be a con too) -Best French fries (large steak fry style) I've ever had. -Daily drink specials. -TV's with sports. -Nice feel to the place. Cons: -Drink special prices recently went up from $3 to $3.25, not significant..but $3.25 is just not as nice as $3. -SLOW SERVICE. Past two times I've gone I had to walk out after waiting too long just to get our first order taken. -They got rid of their "all day" food and drink specials they had last year on Wednesdays. Our best times were showing up after Happy hour ended and still getting happy hour food and drink special prices. They told us that it was for a limited time, its a bummer they got rid of those great deals. I like Fibbars and will keep going back (for now), simply because with a small group of 3-4 people, it has proven to be a good time with some decent food and nice drink specials. However recently with the even slower than usual service (if its crowded or not), and the price increase...its put a little damper on a place I really wanted to frequent often. I'll update this review if things get better or worse. Also as a side note...yes the economy is down..but lots of places have cut prices (like chocolate sushi) or offer great specials(bail out price night)/coupons (like rooster t feathers). While others are trying to entice customers...Fibbars seems like they are going in the opposite direction...and thats kind of sad.

I went here for the first time last weekend with a few friends and it was a pretty good night. We went around 10 PM. and met up with some other friends of my friends. The atmosphere was a mix of night club and pub. The dance floor in the middle with the DJ and dancing people seemed more befitting of another club rather than an Irish bar, but everyone looked like they were having fun. I did not have any Irish beers, but I did have a Blue Moon draft and it was nice with a good flavor to it. I am glad that more bars are starting to carry it now. They had a drink special that night with Sierra Nevada drafts for only $3. They have a daily menu of $3 drink and shot specials, that alone is a great reason to come back to the bar. The waitresses were all nice and very attentive as were the security staff too. One of the regulars made himself very friendly towards us and we sang and laughed and had a fun time with him at our table. Too bad it is way out in Sunnyvale, or I'd be here more often.

For lunch this place isn't bad if you have time. When it comes to their bangers and mash I have to agree with the ladies. Size matters. WhereTF did my bangers go? They're so small they hide under the onions. If you love meat and potatoes their irish breakfast is pretty good. Definitely get it when it's available.

So I was in northern California for the weekend catching up with some friends and going there for a conference. Well my friend goes to this bar every once in a while for fun so we figured why not? She says the Purple Hooters are cheap ($3) and pretty good, and you can't complain with good, cheap drinks right? We came in around 7:30, pretty early because we were waiting to catch up with some other people. Got a round which is great. Each night of the week there is a cheap beer and shooter deal. That night (Saturday) it was Foster's and a Purple Hooter. It was really mellow and chill and they were playing music off of an iPod or whatever and there was a nice variety which was great. Definitely some older guys in the crowd there, just sitting around and having a beer. They aren't threatening, just sitting around which is fine with me. We came back after dinner and I saw a sign earlier saying that they now serve Mojitos. I LOVE Mojitos! And I usually don't order them in a dive bar like this, but they were advertising them and I fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. A $6 Mojito and how was it? SUCKED! I'm sorry but when you have a sign advertising your Mojito WITH mints in the picture, you BETTER have those mints! They put in things to give the flavor, but I like the fresh mints that make it, well, authentic. Really disappointed with that! So overall, I enjoyed the bar. The second trip back was packed on the dance floor and we were able to still find a table to sit at midnight. No cover is nice too! Not the greatest place, but not the worst either. But it gets knocked down a star because it mistakenly advertised for Mojitos and really disappointed me on that! Also, my friend ordered something the bartender made for all of us and it smelled like an Orange Julius drink with a hint of alcohol. Don't know what the name of it is, but it was white and creamy as the bartender blended in whipped cream. It was horrendous so that adds to me knocking it down to 3 stars. Stay away from a white, foamy drink in a shot glass and the Mojito. Otherwise, it's not a bad place and you can park across the street in the public parking structure for free after 6pm on the weekends and that's ALWAYS an added plus! So enjoy. I will gladly come back, just not for those 2 bad drinks!

I like this place. It's a good spot for a drink, plus the people who run it are actually Irish (and at least one of them is rather foul-mouthed, incidentally). We enjoyed the vibe so much (or perhaps we were just lazy) that we decided to skip our dinner reservations and just eat here. Good pub food. Nothing special, but pub food really isn't supposed to be -- it just goes well with a pint. The fish and chips and lamb stew fit the bill. The shrimp/jalapeno poppers we had were tasty, too, but don't order them unless you'd like your arteries clogged. But then again, you can deep fry just about anything and then dip it in ranch dressing, and it will be good.

Aside from the horrid cover bands, late at night, that honestly think they are the next big thing, Fibbar's is a really fun place to hang out. If you get here for an after-work drink with friends, you can't beat the atmos. If you stay for more than a couple of pints, order some authentic Irish pub food - mushy and bland, but totally worth it!

  • Kevin O.

Fibbar's is great! It's one of the only reasons to go to "Downtown" Sunnyvale, other than Dish Dash. I love that they have people who are actually from Ireland waiting the tables and tending bar, and it's the perfect place to go for a Guiness and chat with friends. The food's good, too - their shepherd's pie is amazing! Just a very relaxed, fun place to hang out and people watch. Not a huge fan of the loud bands, but hell, it's better than a crappy DJ playing the same stuff looped all night!

Fibbar's is the place where all of us at Dayton Auto find sanity after a crazy week at work. The food is good, the beer is better, and the staff is the best. Keep it up Susanne!

I've only shared goot times at Fibbar's, as its a favorite pub of my old work posse. Since the popularity of the downtown Sunnyvale area on weekday nights is usually not stunningly busy, coming to unwind at Fibbar's is a no-brainer. The drinks aren't overpriced, the atmosphere is warm, casual, inviting and the bartender's have always been accomodating whether we've come as a large group or as a small two, three person round-up. I'm not sure about the food fare as I've never come to Fibbar's with food in mind; Fibbar's has always been the after work AND after dinner pub for me. The music is negligible if you're just looking for a place to be with and concentrate on good company.

I used to go here all the time, and after a hiatus I found myself back in familiar territory. I love this bar because it focuses in on soccer (yea!) and most of the regulars aren't super creepy. They have a good selection of beers (Boddington's!) and fun, greasy pub grub. It's just a cool, casual environment where my friends and I can make memories.

  • Madalina C.

This bar probably does not deserve 5 starts, but 4, but I am going to give them 5 starts based on how much fun I had the night I went there. My friends' band: The Mo-Fos were playing and a couple of us friends went to see them...We had so much fun!!!!!! The drinks are amazing...I loved their margueritas and apple martinis!!! We danced so much and were the last to go home...They had to kick us out of there...that's how much fun we had...We will definitely go back. If you go there by yourself, you might not have as much fun, but if you go there with friends, it's super fun. They also have a patio where you can cool of or smoke, if you're a smoker...

Tuesday night, stopped in for dinner about 6pm. Sat at a table near the bar ... and was ignored for 15 minutes. Finally went up to the bar myself and asked for a menu. Then, was ignored for another 15 minutes. Service (or, lack thereof) was disgusting. Finally got up and left -- went over to the Firehouse Grill (where my order was promptly taken).

Cozy, doesn't try too hard, live music on weekends. Wide range of clientele - everyone from old men to just-turned-21ers. Owned by the same people as Molly Magee's, so be aware that the "bottled water only" rule also applies here in the evenings. I prefer this place over Molly's though, because the floorplan makes for better flow, it's warmer, and cozier and they don't charge cover.

I would have given this place 5star rating but they took away the live bands on friday nights they make a great ceasar salad and waitresses are very polite even the dance floor and accoustics is good so its truly ashame that now Murphys law is the only one with a band and they dont have good accoustics or dance space. I am in the 50something age group where rock was big and wish I could find a place with great live music. I own a business and think they could have passed out flyers and special coupons on fridays and tried to encourage people to come and bring first time friends. What a shame

My wife and I are from the area, and we have enjoyed going to Fibbars every other Friday night - and some weeks more often - for the past few years. But last night (4/30/10) we may have changed our minds... hence the 2 star rating. We discovered last night that the owner no longer thinks it makes sense to have a DJ and dancing on Friday nights. The owner thinks that 3 dartboards (and using the dance floor as space to throw the darts) will instead draw and retain a crowd! Wow, lame. There were literally 3 boring people playing darts last night, on the spot where there are usually 20-30 people dancing. Hey, I can appreciate the owner being nostalgic and wanting a reminder of the pubs from where he grew up... with darts, etc. But does he want to actually make money on a Friday night, or just live in the past while losing money every Friday? Is there really a huge demographic for throwing darts in Sunnyvale? Like I said, we've been going to Fibbars for years, and it is painfully obvious that this bar draws bigger crowds (buying more drinks) when there is a DJ on Friday vs. when there are only dartboards on Friday. Think about it. Bring the DJ back on Fridays!

Great Irish food and a focus on beer selection makes this place a fun stop in downtown Sunnyvale. I had the Irish Stew which was the perfect hearty and delicious lunch on a cold rainy day. They usually have some fun craft beers with a rotating selection along with the usuals, and at the time they were setting up for a "tap takeover" (I believe with Lagunitas hosting) which got me thinking about coming back. However, the staff was pretty distracted by the event set up, for which the service significantly suffered. They also have a shaded patio with TVs in the back, and I seem to remember catching a really awsome 90s rock cover band here a while ago.

A wonderful Irish Pub located right in the middle of all the Murphy Street action. The night we stopped by they had this HUGE Game night planned that pretty much took over the entire bar but the waitresses were very accommodating and found us some seating outside by moving two people over a chair. Cheers to the patron too. They didn't seem annoyed at all, happy we joined them. The selection of beer here is out of this world. They have everything you want, need, crave.... The food look like serious comfort food. Had we not had a reservation over at Dishdash 40 minutes later, we would have probably stayed to try out the food too. Highly recommend this place if beer is your fancy.

Your typical irish pub, the location is pretty good and it was pleasant sitting outside. The service is good and the waiter was very friendly and prompt. The reason I gave them 3 stars is the food. I went there for happy hour on Monday and ordered the fish tacos, I have had my share of fish tacos and this one just was not something I would recommend. The fish itself is deep fried with an outer coating, I didn't like the coating part and thought if I remove it I will at least enjoy the fish. Well the fish was taste less and felt like it was frozen for the the last 10,000 years. They should really look into changing the way they prepare this one. I didn't try any other dishes but I cannot recommend the fish tacos.

Been here several times in the summer during the concert series. Fun place. Good beer. Decent pub food. Probably the best bar on Murphy Avenue. If I had to use one word to describe it I would say: comfortable

    (4)
  • Manoj G.

The service is too slow. I had to walk all the way to the bar and ask for status of my drinks and food. The fries suck big time here. No collection of cocktails. The beer was not cold enough. Most importantly they refuse to serve you next time if you leave a tip less than 15% which they don't even deserve. I have not heard anything like that before. I am never visiting this place ever in my life. Give this place a try if u wanna screw your mood.

  • Jack C.

This establishment is an amazing Irish Pub. Very well managed, fantastic service, realistic prices and legit irish food and beverage. The only reason it gets 3 stars is for the dire need of basic replacements such as a washer machine at the bar, the current one stinks at such an exponential rate that it deters me from ordering more of the deliciousness that this place offers. So management, let this serve as the message! Love, your Sunnyvale Irish-loving patrons. And dammit, it would be easier to find a four-leafed clover, than to find a better bartender than Mary.

OK.. Found this place on a Sunday AM looking for something to eat and a beer. I ordered upt he fish and chips. My gracious! This was a huge plate of food! Proper chips, nice and crisp and seasoned. The fish was not greasy at all or overcooked. This was a great plate of fish and chips. The bartender laughed and said the portions here are healthy. YUP.. this was a very large plate of goodness. You get you rmonies worth! The service/bartender was great and for being the only one out front did a great job at keeping up and doing graet service. The beer selection here is large and good! The locals/regulars were friendly and fun! I am glad I stopped in for a bite!

The food is standard Irish pub fare, burgers decent, their pizza sucks, but I love the bar and the staff. Whisky Wednesdays are good too - half off - but they take away the good special during the summer. Note to non-smokers The smoker filled section on the back patio keeps us inside - the smoky air floods into the bar regularly.

First of all, this is a great pub and a great club. Huge variety of liquor and beer, you won't leave disappointed. But I'd much rather touch on some points I see other yelpers reviewing on: 1. Cover. Friday and Saturday Nights, Fibbar's charges $5 around 9:30 on, come before and don't pay the cover. Don't harass the door man about the cover he's got no say, and in comparison to other clubs in the South Bay Area $5 is not a lot. LGBG/Charly's is $10-$25, Monte Carlo is $40-50 for guys, and Pure is $20-$60. "But I'm gonna spend a couple hundred inside!" Calm down big spender. 2. Security. Just like driving on the freeway, don't break the rules and you don't have to interact with them in a negative way. They are there to keep the peace and make sure you and your group has a good time. Also, don't make the assumption this is their only job; a lot of them work at gyms, tech companies, other security jobs, or even law enforcement. 3. Dress code. Fellas, I know those new boxers you got are pretty thug, trust me I believe you. But no, I don't want to see them or have those be the only thing protecting me from your junk while on the dance floor. Hats/beanies: why are you wearing them to a club? **slams head on bar** 4. Bartenders. There's 2 of them for the bar plus the 1 or 2 waitresses running around serving everyone in the bar. Use common sense, be considerate. If you want a drink but absolutely can't wait for a waiteress to put the drink order in, get up and go the 10' to the bar yourself.

Luv this pub. The staff is great, fun and attentive. The beer selection is great. The food is really good. We have a lot of fun when we go there. Bartenders and staff work their tales off. The kitchen is excellent, the alcohol selection is vast, the atmosphere is great (not too quiet, not too loud), and they always play the Giants! The service is wonderful, familiar, and always dedicated to doing their job. We always feel we are being treated like family while we dine there. I don't like being too effusive in my reviews, because they start to look generic or paid -- I wish I was paid for this review, in fact. The honest truth: Fibbar's is our go-to Public House/Restaurant. There are precious few places in the Peninsula where the passion for owning and running a good restaurant is so apparent that you are put at ease by just walking through the front door. Irene and Missy run a tight ship, and they clearly love what they do. Both locals, they are clearly invested in maintaining a space where anyone can come in from the weather, get a fantastic meal, drink a fine beer or whiskey, meet great people, and do it all at a good price. The ambiance is fusion pub/sports bar, with props given to each point in that spectrum. There are enough TVs to catch simultaneous MLB, NHL, and NBA games from just about any seat in the house, while the walls and ceiling are reminiscent of many an irish pub I have been in. There is excellent seating for groups, couples, and individuals on hand, and the patio is just the right size/feel for a comfy hangout with friends. I'll post a picture or two of the food some time. For now you will have to trust me: Everything on the menu is great. I usually order a 9 Yard Burger, and my wife loves the Chicken Curry. The steak comes with the best onion-based sauce I've ever had at a restaurant, and the wings are exactly what they should be: spicy and full. My mom requests dinner at Fibbar's when she's in town, and my Dad and I love to enjoy a craft Whiskey from their rather comprehensive menu. The beer menu is equally ample in size and variety, so my Brother likes to try something new when he comes with. The WiFi is excellent, and I can go over for lunch and get my work done, which is a blessing some days. My hallmark for great table service: No one ever balks, or treats us differently, whenever we decide not to order alcohol. Trivia Night is a Hoot, but if you are looking to relax with a Beer and Baseball on the TV, I'd caution against showing up on Tuesday Nights, unless you are ready to laugh yourself silly ;)

This is my go-to spot! I love the friendly atmosphere and the people. Jillian is one of my favorites! She makes me feel comfortable and always has a suggestion on a new beer to try. Super nice folks did a drink and food special for a pub crawl we arranged. They had great beer, nice staff and the fish and chips were AWESOME! The waitress and bartender joined in the fun, helped us draw raffle tickets and wished us well. I'd come in alone or bring a crowd here ANYTIME!

Wish I could give a 0. 5shots, a rum and coke, and two beers were ordered only so they can harass my boyfriend about his hat not being on straight and his pants sagging. Couldn't even see his boxers!!! I asked why they were harassing him and said they asked him to keep his hat on straight but when he came out of the restroom it was on backwards. SO MANY OTHER GUYS IN THIS EFFIN BAR WITH PANTS SAGGING AND CROOKED HATS BUT HE KEPT FINDING MY FIANCÉ. Never experienced anything like this before. We thought we'd have a good time at this bar, it ruined Sunnyvale for us and we'll take our business elsewhere. Don't come here...seriously

Review is for the food. The beer selection looked great and looked like a fun place to hang out, watch sport, play darts etc... So go for the beer and fun (and possibly bar food) but skip the lunch menu. Grilled salmon salad = 2.5; the salmon itself was cooked well and flavored nicely. The salad had just a lower quality feel to it. Hard to explain but if you are looking for fish, get the salmon. Service was great for lunch, not too crowded and server was appropriately attentive.

Watched the World Cup with co-workers here. They take their time with the food, but it was worth the wait! Definitely on the heavy side. Three of us ordered gourmet Fibbar burgers -- two medium-rare, one bloody rare. They were quite delicious, and the generous portion of steak fries complemented our two pitchers of cool Coors Light well. My other co-worker chose chicken tenders and curry -- they seemed to like what they chose too! Two Coors Light promoters even came over and gave us a sample of their new summer-themed beer. We got our hands on free, light-up swag for the World Cup too. The screens outside were crisp and sharp so we got to see France kick Switzerland's butt in excellent HD. Be wary of smokers outside (I didn't mind at all!) It got quite warm on the patio, but then again it was a really hot day! Located in wonderful Murphy Ave., a great place to watch sports and cheer your favorite team on.

Went here at 4 for HH on a Friday with a group of 6. The place was pretty empty, but we did not get great service. There was only one guy waiting on the tables that were there,s oI can see why he would be slow, but most times he walked by he did not ask us if we needed anything. I had to go to the bar to place an order because I was tired of waiting, and that person directed me to our real waiter. We ordered another round, plus HH apps. The food came out within 10, and was very hot. Most thought their food was OK. I liked my fish poppers, but the fries were under cooked, so left most on the plate. Overall, not impressed by service.

Wide selection of beers, but only a few good beers. I think they have a better selection of whiskey. The place has an outdoor patio with a roof so it's nice. It gets super loud on trivia night, but then drinks are half price. It's amazingly a good size happening place on a Tuesday night. Other bars nearby are pretty much dead.

After a dismal previous night across the street we decided to give Fibbar Magee's a try. Much better! The food was very good. I went for a burger (for comparison) and we split the fried pickles. The fried pickles were very good! I'd recommend them-- be warned they are extremely hot when you get them. The burger was done just right-- I went for the 9 Yards and it was good but I'd order something else since I think there was just a bit too much going on with the toppings. That was my bad ordering rather than their bad cooking. To drink I had a Guinness which was done properly. My wife had the Club Sandwich and that was also good (and huge!). Service was very good-- I suspect the guy taking orders was the owner (Irish guy who didn't need to write down the order and knew the details of everything). As for ambiance, it's a bit sports-barsy for my taste (TVs everywhere) but it had a good feel-- dark wood, a fireplace, long bar. I'd definitely go back. While I didn't get a chance to check it out the whisky and beer selections looked really good.

Great Irish stew and tasty curry chicken and chips and rice! Side salad is huge! I love going here! The bangers and mash with the creamy gravy is the bomb! The shepherd's pie is loaded with meat! Great food! Busy place!

Went here on a Friday after 10 and paid a $5 cover which wasn't too bad. Dance floor area and sick throw back beets! Area like an outdoor patio where the smokers went. Good number of other patrons but didn't prevent us from getting at that bar. Sure may seem dive-ish but my group and I had one hell of a time.

Looks quite promising on the outside and inside. Guinness poured quite well, and I was impressed with the Irish whiskey selection as well as the long list of beers. The food was very good. Perfect steak. I think they were surprised by how busy their Monday evening was though. The manager needs to be prepared to come out and help. I would come back.

I've been here several times now. The service leaves much to be desired, even when it's a Monday night and there's maybe less than 25 people. The waitress was friendly, but she was the only one waiting on tables (plus a busboy and bartender). We received our beers in less than 10 min, but the beer wasn't that cold and a little flat for my liking. They obliged our request to put the giants game on the tv. (Funny thing was that Antiques Roadshow was on on the bar tv!!) Their happy hours are from 4:3-6PM and they have daily specials. Monday was $1 off craft beers. Word to the wise, Fridays and Saturdays, they have Club FM... so you'll have to pay a cover to get in.

First of all, I have a ton of memories here. Actually met the mother of my child here in late 90's. All of my memories are fond. It's a rather spacious Irish Pub, actually run by Irish people. Go figure. Food is typical pub fare. Nothing going to knock your socks off, unlike Trial's Pub in SJ. Decent Shepards Pie, and Irish Stew. Curry and chips is so/so. Avoid the pizza's at all times. What you can find here is a fun pub, with nice heated patio and nice people. Most important they know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. I cherish the memories I have here. Cheers Fibbars

Food: -Shrimp salad was the only mediocre redeeming part of the eats menu, served with a bag of Safeway greens on a big ass plate fit for a grazing cow -"Garlic" fries were thick and soft as dicks in a haunted house -Salmon was encrusted with a layer of salt, and accompanied by a literal bowl of liquid butter I shit you not, and this is why america is fat Service: -PMSy -Three requests to get water Ventilation: -Second hand smoke hell +1 star for minorly fun trivia night, would've been more fun if somebody asked our table about a second round of drinks within two hours of sitting there being straight up thirsty

Came here for brunch after getting our butts handed to us from kickboxing and we were the only ones here. Granted, it was a bit early on a Sunday but it was a bit odd that it was so deserted on Murphy st, we will chalk that up to all the good church-goers being at church. Anywho, we sat down outside and had a blast. The tables out there slowly started filling up out there, it was just too nice of a ay to sit inside. The drinks were great and the servers were super friendly and very prompt. I got the Irish Burrito and WOAH was that thing huge! It was so delicious, but I could only eat half it was so big. My friends wanted simple eggs and toast, not on the brunch menu, but the kitchen was more than happy to prepare the meal. We will DEFINITELY be coming back!

L.O.V.E. Me some Fibbers! Always feel like family! Service is fast and friendly! Drinks are yummy! The food is Hella Yummy! And the dance floor after 10pm is THE BEST! Love you Fibbers!!

Happy hour M-F 4:30pm - 6:30pm Great bar food! Beer selection is always changing, which is a huge plus in my book! This pub has friendly people who actually speak to you and carry a conversation than looking like they hate their job. Friday and Saturday nights, they have a DJ and a dance floor that lights up, pretty cool eh?

First off, I asked the waitress for a cup of water and she said she'd only bring me water if I promised to drink the whole thing because we're in a drought. Um, yes I will drink the whole thing. I just had beer and a salty meal. I could chug a whole pitcher if you wanted me too. I didn't say that...but she brought me a plastic cup of water not much taller than the palm of my hand. I even ate the ice. Felt like that was improper customer service. Food was good though. Went a happy hour on Thursday and the food was decentally cheap. 3 fish tacos for like $6? They actually weren't that flavorful but who cares for that price. Also the curry...french fry...thing? It was like a poutine and that was hella good. Mac'n'cheese was sure to please. I suggest it. Only been here once for the night life. Can't say it wasn't bad...can't say I remembered most of it. They have a great beer selection though.

Came here on a Friday night, bartender said there was a minimum two drinks at the bar. Thought it was a nice small venue with a small dance floor. Any spot with a dance floor, all I care about is the music. The DJ was on point playing old school hip hop/ rap and some newer jams. Good spot to check out in downtown Sunnyvale with your friends if you're looking for a place to sit, drink, and maybe get your dance on.

Excellent craft beer menu!! this is my favorite spot in DT Sunnyvale. I come here at least once a month :) They have fun beer glasses too! One star off though for their unreliable service. One time, my friend and I sat there for 15 minutes and no one came over to us. So, my awesome friend had to go to the counter and order. They had Grapefruit Sculpin' too. YAY

Came here for a Dirty 30 and was far less than impressed. Food was ok, nothing I tasted was spectacular, though the lamb stew that was being enjoyed next to me looked tasty. Service was terrible. It's a busy pub, I get it, but we were a large group, and there was no rhythm of ordering, paying, anything. The worst offense of the night was having my Glenfiddich measured into my glass. I am a fan of the free pour, or at least a pour into the jigger over the glass so you get a little extra booze. But no, this was a pour into the jigger sitting on the bar, so some spills before it makes it into your glass. Tacky. Something strange: there were a ton of bouncers. In downtown Sunnyvale. I had never visited this exotic land, but that seemed a bit odd. While the crowd at the pub was shall we say eclectic, most seemed harmless, though it was clear that some fights or other shenanigans had clearly broken out here. One bouncer in particular was incredibly rude, thought he was being funny, but was just an ass. Once late night (10ish?) hits, part of the dining area is turned into a dance floor. Horrible lights, music, and vibe in general. Run.

I come here seldomly, but every time I come here it is always a good time! I came here last week with my best friend to get a pint or two and see what was new on their chalkboard. They had a really nice stout here (me being a stout guy) that I really enjoyed. Our bartender was kind enough to let us sample a few beers before ultimately picking some to consume as pints. The seating wasn't an issue as it was saturday afternoon around 6:00pm, I also got lucky with parking as well. Usually, parking here can be a bit, hectic. Overall; Good brews, good food, great setting and good service!

They have a good beer selection (I enjoyed a couple of Obsidian Stouts) and a tasty Irish menu. I did the Monday build-your-own burger. Ordered medium rare, but it was medium well. Still juicy, and the fried egg that I had on there was perfectly runny, so I'm not really complaining. Service was just so-so. This place is pretty good, and I'll certainly give it a few more shots.

I cannot say I am of fan of this place. Food was not great, even for a pub. What is weird though is that this place turns into a dance club like atmosphere with douche bros aplenty. Add to this rude security. I will now forever pass on this place as there are many other places in Sunnyvale worth my time.

First and for most I am not a beer drinker, my husband is; however the thing that keeps me and my family coming back each and EVERY Thursday is the AMAZING service from Jillian and the amazing food. Happy hour is great. Best burgers, awesome fish tacos and an amazing steak salad. Environment is family friendly and great prices. Don't know what Jenna B' s problem is about Jillian, she is one of the BEST SERVERS I have ever had, she knows my family by name and makes sure my son always gets his boogers :) A pyb that honirs reservations and just doesnt give it to a large party, to me shows that they care for their customers and not just about money. Service by Jillian is WONDERFUL, she takes personal interest in her customers and goes above and beyond each and every time we go ( which is every Thursday) Jillian and Irene make Fibbars the place to go; whether to hang out, get away from a bad day or just for a good dinner. 1000 stars to Jillian. And try a burger with BACON!! YUMM

Went there for lunch, so my review is solely based on the food here. Overall impression - fairly reasonably priced, portions are huge (and I mean huge, they don't joke around with the quantity of food you get)! However, nothing stood out. If you crave for shepherds pie then Lilly Mac's from across the street is a bit better IMO. Guinness Irish Stew - The stew was seasoned well, but I wish the meat was cooked a bit longer. Shepherds Pie - For some reason I always thought Shepherds Pie should be made with lamb, not beef (or at least 50% lamb). Theirs had 100% beef, which was fine, but I didn't find it that spectacular.

This place is pretty cool. I hadn't been to downtown Sunnyvale in years, so I hadn't seen all the improvements to the area until recently. They have an awesome selection of craft beers, which to me is better than any cocktail lounge. Tons of IPA's, if you're into that sort of thing, but they have other beers as well. It's super laid back and casual, and there are a ton of monitors for any big time sporting event that might be going (in our case it was Game 7 of the World Series). All in all, it was a great ambiance and customer experience. I'll be back for sure, not to mention my work is very close by.

Fibbars has upped their game these last few years. Came here on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. And they were playing music videos! I hadn't seen a single music video since the days of TRL, so that was fun. My buddies hit on all the girls while the gf and I watched, entertained and sipping a beer. The craft beer and cider selection is solid--heck they even serve Hard Black Cherry in bottles, a legit hard cider made by Red Branch Cider Co. All in all we had a great time. Haven't had their food yet, though, but I hear good things.

Still "my local" pub after all these years even though I live in a different city now. They've reinvested a lot of money in the place and it shows. Service is as prompt, friendly, and professional as ever. Especially from Jillian, she's a sweetheart! The friendships you make at Fibbars will last a long time.

49ERS vs. PANTHERS I came here last Sunday to watch the playoff game. In honor of the 49ers' red I had a pint of Smithwick's, which is Irish red ale. I also ordered the Irish Breakfast. Surprisingly with the ham, sausage, two eggs, and the black and white pudding the dish wasn't heavy at all. Since the black pudding is a blood pudding I thought that it would taste a little murky, but it didn't at all. My 4-star rating is based on the fact the 49ers beat the Panthers in the playoff game. Next is the Seahawks. Order a pint of Smithwick's to support the 49ers. Go Niners!

Despite arriving too late from Pure to order a drink or enjoy their food, strangely enough, the staff, DJ, crowd, and laid back atmosphere of Fibbar MaGee's were such a lovely, winding conclusion to our Friday night in Sunnyvale. Everyone here was probably 10-15 years older than us, but guess what--nobody cared. Literally every individual on the dance floor was grooving and moving at 1:30AM like it was 11:30PM, and we felt compelled to join in on the fun. The floor is pretty with it's multi-colored lights that you feel that if you don't get jiggy with it, what's the point of living? I love the casual vibe of this place. I'm a sucker for any bar with a crowd who doesn't care. I can't wait to come back and experience all of Fibbar MaGee's.

Solid bar with a dance floor in downtown Sunnyvale. On weekends, it gets pretty crowded but there's an outside patio that you can go to for fresh air. On Tuesdays, they have trivia night which is a fun weekday activity. The food and service here is definitely subpar, but the great beer selection more than makes up for it. Unfortunately, they are usually out of a lot of the more popular beers on the menu. Overall, it's a no frills bar with a good beer selection and that makes it a good spot to check out.

Hands down the best pub experience. The crowd tonight (Wednesday) is packed and theres lots of people enjoying their meals and drinks..just flat out a great vibe. I'm zoo happy we have something like this in Sunnyvale. I cannot believe I've never gone here especially being brought up here in the town. Well it's def not too late. I love the variety of drinks and the great happy hour! Half-off whiskey's on Wed's no matter the drink! also the beers and wine bottles are half too! The service from Shannon was great!!! she did an awesome job socializing and serving all at the same time. The bartenders are efficient and have great personalities which creates a better bond between you and the bartender. The drinks are well made and like I said the variety is just excellent! I've made a deal to try and come every Wed for happy hr lol...I've got to come back for sure!

I was here with three friends for drinks and food. We shared pizza margarita, combo pizza and fish and chips. The pizza was great with the beer and you can't beat the price either! I think it was like $9/10 for about a medium size pizza. The fish and chips were ok..

I was surprised there aren't any reviews or pictures of the Salmon Salad here already. I was nervous about ordering it in a beer bar, but I'm glad I went ahead and ordered it. It came with a large salmon fillet that was cooked nicely (not overcooked!), fresh lettuce, tomato, nuts, bleu cheese and crisp bosc pears. My husband got the sliders with fries. I noticed most of the photos show steak fries, but the waitress offered him a choice of skinny fries (his favorite) or steak fries. He was very happy with the skinny fries. They were cooked exactly the way he likes them (nice and crisp). There were a LOT of good choices on the beer menu!

Food is okay, liquor was great. Service was awful. Jillian was so rude and short to our party of over 15 people - stating that she needed to run a business and make money, so we couldn't take up too many chairs or tables (the bar was NOT full by any means). She physically took the table away from us - even though we had more than enough people to fill the tables we pushed together. We ended up with over 20 people by the end of the night. Her attitude almost ruined our evening. She seemed angry that we didn't call ahead to make a reservation...who makes a reservation at a bar!? She was snappy and upset - not sure what we did to her... Now looking back on the whole situation, we should just have left and walked across the street to another bar that would have appreciated our $600 tab. To be fair, in the beginning, the service was very prompt, if you don't mind being snapped out while trying to order. Towards the end of the night, we had to go inside to order more food and drinks.

Born and raised in the area, Fibbar's is the only spot really worth going now. It was always a go to when I would come home from College as it was the nice laid back dive that wasn't uber divey, it's the perfect Irish pub. Now they have totally stepped up their game in the past few years adding a ton of beer taps that rotate on occasion and their food quality has definitely ben stepped up. What can I say? I love this place, being from around here, knowing that most of the other places just aren't all that great to go to...it's nice having a solid Irish pub with an excellent beer selection. The staff is pretty rad too. They are always friendly and attentive as possible, they bust their ass so you can enjoy yours. If you catch them at the right time too they have Pliny!

This pub is the only place in town where I am a regular sometimes multiple times through the week. We started coming for the food but kept coming for Jillian. She isn't just a server she is like part of the family. She knows the kids and everyone by name. A busy pub that honors reservations instead of giving the tables away to a big group that just shows up gets an A+ in my book. All of the staff has been friendly and we still get great service when she isn't there. The shepherds pie is one of my favorite dishes. The best I have had. I've got most of my family hooked and they LOVE the food. Whiskey Wednesday was our day until we met Jillian...but we still sneak in on Wednesdays sometimes. Lunch time has great service also and lunch specials. It's my Dad's choice almost every time we have lunch. All people and places have bad days but no matter the review check it out for yourself. You won't be sorry. The after 9pm scene isn't really for me but I've still had a lot of fun on those nights. If you like more of a club scene with music and dancing and still great service with drinks then come on down.......just don't take my table

I was impressed by their beer selection and the food is pretty damn good also. The burger was really good and the bacon was thick and plentiful. Also had the chicken curry pizza which for an Irish bar was pretty tasty. Throw some sriracha and extra curry sauce on the slice and you've got something wonderful. The service is decent and they have a outdoor smoking section in the back as well.

Downtown Sunnyvale? Whaaat? I didn't even know such a thing existed until this year, ahaha. My friend frequents this place on the regular so I end up here sometimes. The drink prices are decent and there's a great selection of craft beers on tap to choose from. There are daily specials that people should definitely take advantage of, like $5 Martini Mondays and half off Wine & Whiskey Wednesdays. These specials change periodically, I think, so don't take my word for it. Check their board near the front entrance! Weekend nights are poppin with some good music playing and weekday nights are super chill. The bar food is really good and priced well, especially if you get the pick and mix and share it with a few friends. A good place to chill with friends on weeknights, and a good place to have a great time and dance on weekends. I dig it.

Fibbar has a lot going for it. - Its a big bar with lots of space. The bar itself is long, there's a dining area as well as a dance floor that literally lights up on weeknights, room to play darts, outdoor area with heat lamps, and lots of sitting areas throughout the place. - The beer selection is huge - Service is good and staff is friendly - Food is good at decent prices. I've come here for just the shepherd's pie on a few occasions... - Good selection of spirits too. Lots of different whiskeys to pick from which is great. - Overall good energy, though it does get crowded fri/sat nights - This is my go-to for downtown Sunnyvale. Unless I don't want to hear anything from the people I'm with, then I go to Murphy's

Before heading into the whackest club, Pure, we decided to get some grub and booze. Fibbar MaGee's is an awesome Irish pub with good fried foods such as their chicken wings. Though their sauce was hella spicy it went perfect with some cold beer. The atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. Our server was awesome, we had a good amount of people and he was definitely keeping a good pace up with our group. Though I am rarely in Sunnyvale, if I were to suggest a great place for drinks and some typical yet delicious bar grub, then this is the spot. I would definitely consider coming back and trying this place out on St. Patrick's day.

Wow, I tend to pass by this Irish Pub a million times because I frequent to Pure Lounge which is a couple bars down. $5 cover charge after 9PM, any time of the night. There's a cool illuminating dance floor that lights up! It kept me hopping and dancing all night with my amazing friends. There's a small outdoor patio at the back as well. The bartenders are superb! They made my AMFs strong just the way I like 'em before I start to feel hella loose. They play top 40 songs. It also has music video that's old school, which brought back so many memories! All in all, an underrated place that is fun to end the night.
