This is my favorite fish and chips restaurant in the bay! The portions are a great size, and every time I come in there the blonde waitress remembers my order, and what drink I want without me even having to tell her. On top of that I can talk metal with her and upcoming shows, which is a rarity. Great food, drinks, and service! Love this place.

A cute, homey British Pub with some good fried seafood and fries straight out of the fryer. I'm not actually a huge fish-n-chips person, so I usually get the fried crab cakes which always come out great and meaty. I do love grabbing a Snakebite here! There's always a line though it moves quickly. The place is small so seating is limited. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you, the wait being average. I wish they'd stay open past 8PM and be open on Sundays :) Overall, this places is a down-to-earth local business which some character!

This place is a gem! They are a small hometown fish and chips spot with finger licking good food. The building itself is small and doesn't accommodate many, but it's a cool in house dining experience if you go at the right time. They make your food to order so it can take a bit but it's fresh and hot when you get it. Parking is decent and the staff was very friendly. Plus, it's footsteps from the ocean which makes for a nice walk after your meal. Will return!!

These fish and chips are the real deal served in traditional newspaper. The breading is just right and fried perfectly so that the batter is done and the fish remains warm and fluffy. The only improvement I could see is figuring out a marquis house made tartar sauce.

Love coming here for fish and chips and a beer. You can order a half sized potion and there are other seafood options besides fish.

Heck yeah! This place is the best. This is one of my all time favorite places to go eat. It is so good here. The fish is so good as are the fries. I cannot help but get hungry as I think about this place. The smell is coming to me and it is just so good. If you like or want to learn to like all thing related to FISH AND CHIPS then you need to come and GET SOME! Like NOW..come and get it!!

Updated review 4 years later... Great dinner tonight and shrimp and chips was great! And I have to say that the waitress/cashier is amazing! I was watching her help every single customer with a smile! It was awesome! Happy place and they have added cool "London" decor! I like it! There is a cool, warm, comfy vibe happening inside here! Kudos to Camelot!

We love this place! It's an hour away from us but when my husband and I want fish and chips, we drive an hour to come here. Authentic and always great tasting food. Definitely worth the drive. Make sure you bring cash. It's CASH ONLY. If you forget, there is an ATM near by. The place is small. Most people order their food to go. To go orders are wrapped in newspaper. Neat!!! But if you are patient, it is worth waiting for a seat. You will have plenty of things on the wall to look at. You may even get the chance to place your bottom on one of the church pews they use as benches.

Charming and delicious. I come here about once a month. I didn't used to because years ago it wasn't that great. But this last year I moved back to Pacifica and tried again and it's the bomb. The young woman they have working the register is delightful and even remembers my order. I always order the scallops combo. I'd like to try something else, but I never want to miss out on the scallops. When you bite into one of them, delicious hot flavor squirts into your mouth. They even have my favorite beer- Boddingtons. Not alot of seating here, but I almost always get take out anyway. I think the chips could use work, but they are good enough. I'm not English, so for all I know they are the way they are supposed to be.

The 3 star review is based on the customer service. The food was great. We ordered fish and chips, and shrimp and chips. It was all delicious but the service was pretty awful. We walked in and luckily there were a few tables open. We ordered and immediately the server at the counter had a sarcastic tone. Her attitude was nasty. It's like she was doing us a favor by taking our order. She was really rude regardless of how nice and courteous we tried to be with her. When she gave us our food, she was cold. She told us she would bring ketchup - she never did. After 10 minutes of waiting, I ended up asking for it myself to which she did not take her eyes off of the beer tap to even acknowledge me. Then she muttered something under her breath and eventually brought the ketchup over, without even saying a word. I don't mean to ramble on but it's a shame that despite how yummy the food was, all I can recall is feeling unwelcome. I'd like to try this place again for the food and the atmosphere, but I'm really hoping the server is in a better mood next time. *And by the way, it's cash only.*

If your in the mood for Fish & Chips. This is your place! Location is in Pacifica so unless your around there I probably wouldn't make a drive out for this. But if your in the area and have a fried seafood craving they wont disappoint! Inside has a very London style pub feeling to it. Very English I guess. No surprise for the choice of food. Not to much space to eat in, but just enough as long as it doesn't get to busy. Had the calamari, scallops, and of course the fish! Best thing was for sure the fish! Tar Tar sauce and the malt vinegar to top. yum. make sure to put it to use! unfortunately although generous in portion. the fries were only...ok I guess. Price was decent about $10 a plate. And make sure to bring cash as its CASH ONLY! So yeah, if your feeling a deep fried seafood hunger this place works! And by the way...according to other yelp reviews I saw after, I guess they deep fry Mars bars here..gah! missed that one LoL

So extremely disappointed! How this place got 4 stars is beyond me. I ordered fish and chips w/ scallops and oysters. The fries and scallops were obviously frozen, and I was surprised that the fries were tasteless and gross. How can you mess up fries? The batter on the fish wasn't light enough, and the entire meal ended up feeling so sad. There's better fish and chips out there in SF.

  • David R.

    K. So, I am a second generation Irish English man. I have eaten many fish and chips dinners over many years now. But I have never eaten a fish and chip meal that was this gross in my life! truly descusting! No flavor at all. Fried fish is greasy as it is but my fingers feel clumpy greasy. The fries we're OK. They do not except credit cards or debit cards and now I no the reason. Anyone who would eat here and paid by card would do a charge back. In other words, your forced to pay for crap! I would have enjoyed long john silvers over this place. Please save your money and try somewhere else! No flavor. Extremely greasy. Cash only. Very small place so seating is extremely limited. And who ever decorated this place needs to visit the U.K. and get a fresh perspective on the English foods....

I accidentally stumbled upon Camelot Fish & Chips in Pacifica. I was not really that hungry but when I saw the words "Camelot" and "Fish" I had to tryit. After trying 3 large pieces of their fish, I thought this was exactly proper fish and chips. just like they would say in the UK. The fried clams were also great. I ordered that as well. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good Fish & Chips.

We came here for the second time on Saturday. We came again because we were in the area and it is very hard to find a place that serves clam strips. The clam strips were good, the fries were good. The fish is good. Here is why they only get two stars. The only accept cash. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that. It becomes suspicious when there is an ATM machine built in to the building RIGHT NEXT DOOR to this restaurant!! SERIOUSLY ITS FEET AWAY!!! So it seems to me they care more about their bottom line then customer service. Will not be back again. It's shady that the atm is there because one would suspect that they are getting a kickback from the atm owner or perhaps they even own it. COMMON SENSE!!!

First time going to Camelot, and gives a nice English pub ambiance with a lot of Camelot and English decorations. The place is a little small but it is not a problem if you have a small group. I ordered the Camelot platewhich gives you 3 shrimps, 3 scallops, 3 oysters, 1 big piece of fish, and plenty of fries. It excludes the krabcakes. Camelot plate is worth trying if you do not know what you want or if you want to try every except for the krabcakes. I recommend getting more tartar sauce. Nothing special about the tartar sauce, I just like more. :P Overall, a pleasant experience and will be returning.

Ah, fish and chips. Probably one of the most underrated favorite foods in my "favorite foods" category, simply because it's pretty difficult to find a good fish and chips place nearby. To date, Camelot is my favorite in the bay area, because it's not overly greasy, it doesn't fall apart, it's tasty, there's hush puppies, and you have the option of doing cool things like getting a fried Twinkie. Basically: food-wise, there is nothing wrong with this place. Unless you want to dine in like everyone else does, then that might be something wrong, as it's a small pub-like scene of fishy chippy goodness - and by that I mean there's only about six tables total. But never fear. The ocean's just outside, so why not grab your newspaper-wrapped fish and chips and watch the sunset? The hot fish and chips will be quite the sensation against the often super-cold Pacifica air. Of course, it is important to note that they close at 8pm and it takes a while for them to make that fish. Usually, if it's around 7:30pm, I don't bother making the trek, because I know I won't make it. Meh. If you manage to get a table, load up on that malt vinegar. It's amazing. I don't even like tartar sauce that much, but hey, it tastes fantastic with the fish and helps cool it down a bit so you don't burn your mouth. Plus, all those sides! All those fried seafoods! KRABCAKES! If Pacifica weren't so far from SF, it would be on my tourist list. If my British friends weren't vegetarians, I would've brought them here for their opinion. Otherwise, it may be a spot for people who are interested in going to Pacifica for whatever reason. If my guests say they want fish and chips, I'll ask them if they're down for about a half hour drive (and also check the weather to make sure there's no fog blocking said beautiful sunset).

This place almost got one star until an employee came and apologized. The food is definitely DELICIOUS! The service was not. The prices are good, but I'd pay more for better service. We honestly couldn't wait to finish and get out. There is no organization other than a sign that says "order here" and The employees don't say anything as you walk in bewildered as to what to do. We walked in, stood there for a while with out being greeted. I finally said excuse me and The employee said she would be with us in a minute. We sat down. She went and cleaned another table even though we were sitting at a dirty one. Then she went to the back...I thought okay surely she will come back and help us. Then a large group of people walked in and got in line at the order here sign. They too were also ignored for a bit The employee walks by us and I say, "were we supposed to stand up there and wait for you?" She says, "i told you I would be with you in a minute." Walks over to the counter and starts taking the big groups order. I get in line and tell her when I get up there, calmly, that we are new here and didn't understand the organization she should have been more attentive and guided us. She explains that the sign says "order here" and then says she will do us a favor and put our order in first. I thank her sincerely. Only to see that the big group ended up getting served before us and was served the lukewarm tap water before us too. The service girl was very unfriendly and inattentive. Even after I explained to her what had gone wrong, she apologized with very little emotion but then kept on with poor service. Some other woman came out and asked us and another couple about what happened. She apologized and said the girl was, "out of it sometimes" only to provide the same inattentive and nonchalant service. They do not have clam chowder as advertised, they serve like warm tap water, do not have lemon and only take cash. We may try this place again.... But I sure hope if we do, the service is better or I may not even stay long enough to get my meal.

It seems expensive but the amount of food is good, and adding in the quality makes it a home run. Downsides are that there isn't a lot of places to sit, and they are only open until 8pm. Most places do close early in Pacifica. Most likely because the fog is really scary. Last but most important was that the hush puppies were a rip off. They were overdone and super skimpy for about 8 pieces at a cost of $5

The place is small, very casual and the food is great! CASH ONLY FYI, not to worry an ATM is next door.

We ordered the fish and chips. The portions were large and they were amazing. My family tried the deep fried Twinkies and loved them. Friendly service.

This is a small, order-at-the-counter, fried food in a basket spot. And it's great! The stand-out winners are the fried scallops and, believe it or not, the french fries! The fried scallops were great because scallops are good even when they fall in the dirt (no first-hand experience of this, purely assumption) and the fries are thick-cut fresh potatoes, reminiscent of In-N-Out. The fried shrimp were delicious, run-of-the-mill and the fish was great, I would have liked a tiny bit thinner batter, but still very good. They do not offer lemon, which I am assuming is probably a British thing. It's like when you get a Chicago dog and they don't have ketchup- OK I get it, I'm an unsophisticated heathen, but I likes what I likes. Or ooh how about this example- when you go to stupid La Taqueria and if you don't want beans they charge you extra. Get over yourself La Taqueria, my disdain for you has crossed over to a review for a Fish place in Pacifica, it knows no boundaries. I wasn't actually that upset about the no lemon thing though. Their tartar sauce was really good. But riddle me this: how can you make tartar sauce without lemon? Are you BUYING your tartar?! (if-so, where? sh*t's dank) Or are you using bottled lemon?! I'll be back for excellent scallops, fries, crispy fish and a nice cold beer on tap!

Amazing. I live in San Francisco but I have no problem driving 15-20 minutes to Pacifica to grab my favorite fish and chips. Normally I will order over the phone first and by the time I arrive everything is ready. The service is quick and the people at the register have always been very friendly if not sometimes overly-worked bussing tables, taking orders and answering phones. Do yourself a favor and go out of the way one time, take the scenic highway 1 down to Camelot and enjoy some of the best fish and chips in the area.

Love this place. Light crispy batter on fish. Fries are NOT soggy like some places. Lots beer varieties. Almost feels like a proper pub. One of my regular eats.

My husband and eat I here when we ache for F & P. The staff are always friendly and the F & P are the best through the Peninsula. The fish is so heavy, I suggest that you order one of the combos if you order for two. The oysters are my favorite. My husband was been doing runs lately for me. I am so lucky.

I'm not a big fish and chips eater, so my base for comparison is shoddy. But the food was great. They also have a nice selection of beer, too. The service was great. My complaints: Cash only - we are in 2015... I seldom have cash on me. There is an ATM machine outside... But I hate those $3 surcharges. What a bummer. Also, there menu's explanations (prices, descriptions) are non existent. If you are a regular and understand everything, I'm sure it's fine. Case in point: I ordered a side of oysters, expecting raw oysters. Well, they were deep fried; but damn delicious, so hard to be upset. If I have cash on me, I will be sure to visit again.

Apparently this place has the best fish and chips in the area. I made sure to call in my order first and then give an additional 5-10 minutes from when they say my order is ready. We ordered: Full order of fish and chips Full order of chicken and chips The Camelot Their fish prices are huge! I wasn't able to finish my order. Especially with all the fries. The fish is light and not greasy at all. Too bad they don't have their own tarter sauce. That would definitely be better than the packets they have. I'm surprised that our orders were still crispy and hot when we got home and unwrapped them from the newspaper. Cash only!! I'm a repeat customer, so I'm quite happy and satisfied with the place.

Great little neighborhood chippy. Good sized portions, quality, and reasonably priced for what it is. While I would give the food & establishment 4 stars, the interactions I've had with blond-haired little "Ms. Something Special" at the cash register will keep me from returning or recommending this place to others. Multiple times I've been in & greeted with an attitude that screams "I don't have time for you, nor do I care about my job". Yesterday's visit sealed the deal. I placed my usual order, with a very friendly & polite disposition mind you, and when the young lady told me my total something didn't seem right. I was expecting my bill to be around $12-13, instead it sounded like she said $18. When I asked her to repeat the total, she responded curtly "I said $13.xx" and shook her hand at me, palm open. Almost like a child demanding a piece of candy from an adult. While she was doing this, she was attempting to simultaneously answer another customers questions and just kept shaking her hand. I quickly put my $20 bill back in my pocket and informed her that she might want to work on her customer service skills. The other customer, asking about beverage selections, noticed this and walked out directly behind me without buying anything. Take notice Camelot... If you want to retain your loyal local customers, maybe "Ms. Entitled" isn't the right person to be working your cash register, or maybe she just needs a good old-fashioned attitude adjustment like a lot of youth around here. I guess that she's just upset that she's not making her "$15/hr minimum wage" that her generation feels so entitled to.

Fish and chips will never be the same! My boss took me for lunch since we were in the area for a training. The place is nice and small but the food packs a big punch! The fried fish was not greasy or heavy. It was crunchy, light and oh so tasty. The restaurant also didn't smell like fish which was a huge plus. The staff are friendly and the place is right off the beach. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Four points for crispy, moist, flaky fish and malt vinegar. One point for soft, mealy, soggy chips. How is the fish so stellar, and the chips so flaccid? It's as if they understood the fish's magnificence and just gave up and died. Also, there is no lemon in the joint. This displeases me. Next time, fish a la carte and perhaps an order of hush puppies. Anything with "puppy" in the name can't possibly be sad.

Oh Princess Diana, you never fail me (5 stars) Fried Goodnesss ... Get in my belly Thinking about my upcoming vacation and all the seafood I'll be enduring, was Craving clam and chips!!! Had to get my fixing after work tonight at my favorite place in the BayArea for fish & chips or clam & chips. Just reminds me of home. While others choose fast food, sandwiches, burgers, Chinese take out when they are too busybody with life... I call this place. Order to go. Haven't exposed this place to others because it's still a gem to me; if you don't know about it I'd like to keep it that way. This place is always a treat to myself :) Will I be back? Duh I love this place, comes close to home.

It's good but not mind blowing amazing. I split the Camelot with the bf which includes 1 fish, 2 scallops, 3 oysters, 4 shrimp and chips. Oysters and scallops were pretty small. The fish was black sea bass/tilapia? which I think is so very weird deep fried. I think it's normally a red snapper or cod, but type of fish...weird. The batter was good for most with the exception of the scallops, too much batter and a little too burnt. I also asked for vinegar, no vinegar on my chips...overall, it's alright. Good size and cut of chips! I'd come back if I was around, but wouldn't trek all the way here for it.

As a San Francisco area transplant and resident (Daly City) of British origin, it was a pleasant surprise to find this Fish & Chip shop in Pacifica. I ordered a Camelot Fish & Chip plate. The fish was great; -- cooked just right and the batter was moist inside and out and not overly crunchy. The perfect freshly cooked chips reminded me of those I grew up on as a kid in England and I loved the availability of the table side malt vinegar. The only challenge I faced was the table side salt just didn't taste salty enough. Perhaps it's that the quality of salts differ here in the U.S. compared to our British counterparts. Service was friendly and love the fact that you can purchase a British ale draft or shandy, too. I can't wait to bring my visiting British mother here. She'll love it! I'm now a regular customer. Oh, yes, the price is right, too! :-)

This place is probably my favorite restaurant of all time. They have the best fish and chips I have ever had outside of London and I have been to many places in the Bay Area. The fries are as authentic British style as I have found and the tartar sauce is homemade. The fish is always fresh and the batter is spot on. Camelot is the perfect example of doing something simple and not pretentious with top notch quality. My only criticism is that the dining area is a bit small and the wait can be long at times. Also, be sure to check out the view of the ocean after your meal. It really adds to the experience. I highly recommend to anyone that wants a great meal at a reasonable price. And oh yeah - please open on Sundays!

Camelot is my husband and I's favorite place to get Fish and Chips in the Bay Area. We live in Daly City and it is well worth the trip to Pacifica to get some of their large-sized crispy battered fish and wedge potato fries. We love to get the food to-go so we can eat at the beach just a block away or eat it in, and enjoy the fantastic England-style interior. The ladies who work there are always very friendly too. I highly recommend visiting this hole in the wall spot.

We stopped by after coming back from the airport to look at the coast line. Found this place on yelp after getting hungry. Fish n chips was perfect. Waiter was very polite and explained the menu to us. This place is a must if you enjoy fish and chips near pacific coast. Our day ended with us seeing whales 1 mile from this location.

Yes, the fish and chips are great. BUT you really need to try the fried clams. That is where it's at. Those fries/chips are also the best I've had at any fish and chips place. Cold beers and cozy environment. Go for a walk along the cliffs after your meal and maybe you'll see dolphins frolicking in the surf. This place is always worth the road trip from Oakland.

This place is over price and over rated. If you want kid portions of fish and quarter sized oyster this is your place. I ordered the Camelot $15.00 biggest rip off of all time. Never coming back here again. If I could give zero stars I would.

Decided to give this place a second chance and it was just a delicious as everyone was talking about. I guess the first time around they might have gave us the older batch or something since it wasn't as crunchy as it was suppose to be. This time around though it was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and full of fish inside. The fries were also very delicious. I'm glad that everything came out the way they did the second time around since I really wanted to like this place in the beginning. Thanks for exceeding my expectations this time around and will for sure come back with friends.

First time I am writing review. Walked in at 7:45 am placed my order asked if I wanted take out I said "no" so they said I could not eat there. What is this Indiana? Must need to be local to eat in the place (three tables were seated). So I went elsewhere in town where I am wanted. Irate manage yelled at the poor waitress to tell her to put the closed sign up. I left the place at 7:52, 8 minutes before official closing hours. Next Fish restaurant I went to was packed an let me eat in their restaurant.

This little place makes the best fish & chips! Their onion rings are to die for too! A dark beer goes great with the meal! We came here during the week nights & weekends, the food is always done perfect. The bad thing is that it's cash only!

Camelot's was legit even before I knew they have a name. My old boyfriend introduced me to this spot one night when he brought it home unexpectedly. I was in heaven: from the first bite to the last, it was an amazing meal, and here's why: The Fish is so tender and flaky, but not too greasy because someone with their head on decided it would be a good plan to wrap your food in newspaper, brilliant (and a good money-saving tactic for them)! The Chips are thick, not too salty, some are soft, some are crunchy, I'm not sure how they do it, surely on accident, but I'm loving the effect. Clam Strips are tasty as well. If you can't drag anyone out to Princeton or Barbara's Fish Trap, try the clam strips at Camelot. Now that I'm of drinking age and have dined in at Camelot's, I appreciate the brew options to accompany my dinner, and how could anyone not get a beer with fish and chips? And the decor is great. Lots of dark wood and cool trinkets. I really want to go back for the Prime Rib sando as it sounds amazing. Camelot is a true gem of Pacifica.

Do you want REALLY GOOD fish and chips? Then you need to come here. I love it here. I go out of my way to drive here all of the time. I have only ever ordered fish and chips and have never regretted it. The breaded fish is awesome and so are the fries! If you are a ketchup fan, the fries taste SO GOOD with it. The portion size is also great for the money. I like how it's served in newspaper too, that's a nifty idea.

Perfectly delicious fried fish by the coast. We tried this place not long after moving to the area because we had heard how good it was. I have had a rough go finding decent fish and chips in the bay area since Mr. Pickwicks in Concord closed a few years ago. I am of British ancestry and I grew up on English food, so I am pretty picky about the standards here. This place is incredible, every time, with every meal. The fish isn't greasy at all, and is always fresh. My husband WHO HATES FISH cannot eat their fish and chips fast enough. It has just the right amount of batter so that it is still mostly fish but can hold the vinegar. I also appreciate that they have the malt vinegar on the table because my husband and I can kill a bottle in one sitting. Tartar sauce is for suckers. The ambiance is SO English and the whole place smells incredible. They also have beer on tap. The price is right too, with a half order for $6 and change and a full order for under $10. We love to come here, eat, and then take a walk down Esplanade Beach after. It is cash only, but there's an ATM right across the way so it's no biggie. Also, they aren't open on Sundays.

Big portions. My hungry husband and I could have shared an order. $10 for xxxx and chips (fish, scallops, clams, etc). Good food. Not too battered-y. The to-go "containers" are simply wrapped up newspaper. No outdoor seating, limited seating inside. Great place to stop by before heading to Fort Funston with the puppy.

Man, why oh why do British cuisine spots always leave me disappointed? We ordered "The Camelot" which is basically the Queens grab bag of fried fish, shrimp, scallops and oysters. Sounds freakin' amazing right? Partially right. The oysters and scallops deserved the hype, they taste like they were ripped straight out on Spongebob's cold, dead hands and dropped right in the deep fryer. Juicy, tender, hot and fresh out of the briny deep. The fish and shrimp though... Let clear something up before I get into the fish, shrimp and chips. If you put a sign up outside your business that says "FISH & CHIPS" then I feel strongly that you have the duty, nay, the Moral Obligation, to provide the public with fish and chips that isn't a pile of bland, soggy crap. I try not to get on my high horse about too much stuff, but a man's got to put a line in the goddamn sand somewhere. I don't understand how in the name of Poseidon's moist ass a place like this can make awesome deep fried oysters and scallops (which is a difficult task) and then completely shit the bed on a lowly piece of cod and a couple of taters. One of the great wonders of the world that I will never know, because I won't be back. Oh, and cash only? What are we, savages?

We've been here before and we're familiar with the long wait. However, this time was very different. We found a table close to the cashier and we cleaned it ourselves because the waitress was very busy, so we thought of helping, it wasn't a big deal. We know it will take a while, however, after 40mins and seen some people who were right before us and after us were served their food, we checked on our order. The waitress came back and asked us what our order was. After another 20mins of waiting, the food came. The calamari and fish was average. The fries were dry and seemed to be uncooked inside (you can tell they were frozen). The mushroom weren't done as well (soft n squishy n some were still cold inside). We had lost our appetite and just decided to take the rest to go after eating for maybe less than 10minutes. We don't think we'll be back here again, at least not anytime soon, maybe not even this whole year.

Was pretty excited to try Camelots since I had heard so many good things about it. Well tonight was going to be that night, or so I thought. We walked in and the food smelled and looked delicious. We saw an open table and my gf sat down while I stood in line to order. Immediately the girl working at the front desk said the table was reserved. We stood up and waited in line. When it was our turn to order, the girl didn't even acknowledge us, but simply poured a beer and mumbled something to us. We asked for fish and chips, and the girl rudely responded that she wasn't allowed to serve us? Not knowing what the deal was we asked her to clarify but she did not respond. Our first trip there ended with us walking out. I really want to give it a try, but hope the service is better next time. If there are rules and guidelines to eating here, you should post it somewhere so people know how to purchase from you.

Great fish and chips! They were great and highly suggest trying that! We also tried the crab cake and that was okay, I have had crab cakes from all over the world... So I'm biased, however it was still yummy and we willing ate it all! The service was great, and atmosphere, decoration of the place took me back to England! If your looking for some great fish and chips this is the place to go!

My mom and grandma owned a few chippy's in England for a while and so I have pretty high standard for fish n chips. My mom's fish n chips are always the best. My mom was with us when we tried this place out and it was definitely up to par. My mom says she peeked into the kitchen and they use the same methods that she did when she was working at the chippies. An old English feel makes it seem even more authentic, with the New Castle and all the yummy English chocolates. We ordered the shrimp, clam strips, zucchini strips, mushrooms, fish, hush puppies, scallops, and chips (fries). Of all, we enjoyed the fish, zucchini, clam strips, and hush puppies the most. We still prefer my mom's fries over theirs, but we goggled them up anyway. Next time we're ordering the oysters to try. All in all, very solid place. There was a line when we got there, we almost left because of it, but we asked and they said we would sit next. So we stayed. Most people order to go, i guess. I did notice that if we wanted to order it to go, we definitely could have, as everything is fried and stays burning hot for a nice amount of time, so it will probably still be hot by the time we got it home to eat it. We will definitely be back.

I was craving fish and chips and this was just what I wanted. Good food at decent prices. I love that they offer full and half portions. Comfortable setting with good service. They serve beer and wine. Cash only. Credit cards not accepted.

Pretty cool little fish and chips spot. Its really cheap compared to other places in the area.

I think the 1/2 portion is perfect to be shared. It comes with a big filet of white fish over a large portion of fries. Like most people say, the fries are just ok. It was a lil soggy for my taste but the fish is piping hot and crispy! I don't understand why people take it to go... won't you just want to dive in to the hot crispy fish right when it comes out of the fryer? Isn't that the fun part of eating fried food? Definetly goes well with beer. The other items such as calamari and onion rings are ok. I prefer the fish which is flaky, hot and so crispy. That batter is more ideal for the fish. It can get crowded and the wait can take a while. However, the service is fantastic. I enjoy eating in this quaint little spot with so many memorabilia to gawk at.

The wife and I tried out Camelot Fish & Chips yesterday and had somewhat of a weird experience. Not a bad weird thing, just weird. First, we're going back. In fact, we intend to make this a regular stop for us. The Fish & Chips rocked!! I spent a week in London and had Fish & Chips every night while I was there. I had the real thing in the birthplace of Fish & Chips and Camelot is as close as you can get here in the states. It is slightly different from other restaurants in the area and we would not of known what or how to order if it wasn't for dad and his son walking out patting their bellies. When we arrived every table in the room was occupied. So, like good city dwellers we waited outside. I asked the dad after he finished muttering how full he was how do we order. Here's how it works: 1. Have your cash in hand. No cards accepted, cash only. 2. Walk in, step up to the counter and stand-by, the place is busy and the servers are running their tails off. 3. When you get to order, order your food and drinks together. Now wait. 4. As soon as a table opens the server will tell you to take the table. 5. Food arrives, pig out and wish you hadn't ordered so much. Yes, it is that good!! 6. If you need more beverages you have two options at this point. Sweet talk a server into fulfilling your request or saunter up to the counter and obtain more. 7. Leave with a full belly. The downside of our visit yesterday was some inconsiderate, self-empowered, conniving, rude, woman who was behind us in line. She had another couple behind her and she was coaching that couple on what to do. As it turned out, she coached them into slipping into a table, unseen by the servers before us. This lady and what appeared to be her father then simply sat down at the bar (two chairs) and told the other couple they are staying there. They felt so empowered they were able to order ahead of us. BS on you lady. Don't think you own the joint or are in charge. Camelot Fish & Chips is damn good. Just be aware of how to order, bring cash and don't let anybody push you around. Don't get me wrong, we'll be back as often as we can. It's a great place to eat. Our server was awesome. It may be busy but they do try their best to accommodate each and every customer.

This is long overdue. We've been going to Camelot since 2006 and we are still huge fans of their fish and mushrooms (they serve a lot of the chips/ fries, so we always get mushrooms). It gets really crowded over the weekends, the place is pretty small, be prepared to wait to be seated which usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. By far the best fish and chips I've tried in the Bay Area. We were just at Pier 39 and had the fish and chips at Chowder and TJs but Camelot in Pacifica is a no brainer.

Finally got to try this place, but I took it to go. It took awhile because for the fish and chips because it's fried fresh. Two big pieces that were flavorful and flakey. Batter was light and tartar sauce was good. The only bad thing was their fries. Wish it was seasoned and crisper.

I do love a good portion of fish and chips - but nothing is worth a 40 minute wait just be told its going to be another 20mins and all I wanted was a portion of chips to go ? Its a chip shop - how can they not have chips constantly ready on a friday evening around 7pm ?! When I have had the chips they are ok - but you can smell the Oil they cook in is not fresh. Still seeking a great Chippy on the coast.

I was excited to read the raving reviews & proud that it's location is in Pacifica. However, this place is not my taste. THEY DO NOT HAVE, provide, serve, offer LEMON. The fish was a good size, fresh, but bland in flavor. The chicken strip was a thick, meaty piece, but was partially under cooked. This is understandable, but it made me unhappy when I found it. I love French fries. I was very dissatisfied with their quality of fries. They were lukewarm when I got them, kinda hard and tasted like frozen fries

Read all the reviews and had to try it out for myself. The batter on the fish and chips is REALLY good. Light and crispy and perfectly fried in clean oil. Fries could be crispier. The small restaurant has about 7 tables and a few counter seats. Great pub atmosphere. While you're there, don't forget to try the fried Twinkie's and Mars bars. Thankfully in separate batter and oil. Delish!

I'd give this place a four and a half stars. Cute small place with character that speaks volumes. The staff is very friendly and hard working. It all shows, especially when the food comes out fresh and hot. The fish and chips is amazing. The crab cakes weren't as good as grandmas but definitely tasty. They even sell candies from Germany, that I'll have to try next time. The only thing I could say is that the fries aren't very good. They could use some salt or something.

Camelot's is a fried food paradise! The fish and chips are amazing and the order is huge! I had a full order and could not finish the second piece of fish or half the fries (Oops, I mean chips! ). Even the ketchup is different, it's not as sweet as the one I'm used to. Not sure if it's really different or of its just me. The hush puppies are a must, if you're getting a side. The service is always really good and bonus points for pouring a perfect pint of guiness. It does get busy, some locals call in their orders, be prepared to wait a bit. The have copies of the English newspaper, englush decor, very cool atmosphere!

I've tried coming here 3 times over the past few years, and each time this place is closed. The first time, we came on a Sunday, when they aren't open (weird for a restaurant, but okay...). I didn't check the hours, so it was my fault. The next time I went (a few years ago), it was just randomly closed. Alright... Last night we checked their hours to make sure it would be open, because it was a mile from a bar we were going to. We show up at 7:20, and even though it was supposed to close at 8, we were told by the waitress that they were closed. We began to protest, becaus this is kind of BS at this point. She said that they closed at 6 on Halloween... even though there were multiple groups of people in the restaurant, visibly eating and getting served food. I bet this place is great. Just expect it to be never open.

Don't eat here, the staff is nice but we waited at least 30 mins for our food and it was really awful. The fish was OK, but calamari and fries, shrimp etc were just terrible.

  • Kim W.

Camelot Fish n Chips is a truly authentic British spot off the beaten path (Pacifica) that will blow you away - if you're into fresh n flakey fish n chips that is ;-) The food is as authentic as it gets, and the atmosphere brings me back to London every time. They serve black n tans too! Highly recommended!

  • Royce R.

Good fresh fish. Decent fries, I think that they are fresh cut but not double fried. Calamari, shrimp and scallops ok. Hush puppies could use some kind of sauce. Price is good. May visit again.

  • Sabina M.

So I came here for fresh oysters. I should have known that in a fish and chip shop everything is fried. Anyway I walked up to the counter, asked for oysters. I was told there are 5 in an order. I got fried oysters alongside fish and chips. I suppose it was just a huge misunderstanding. I didn't complain, ate my fish and chips and left. however if you are after some really good everything fried food pub style, it's a place for you!

  • Rob M.

THE BEST fish and chips this side of the Bay Area. Quality fish nice and crunchy breaking. Great service. Great beer selection. The fries are like thick steak fries. If you dine in they are cooked to perfection and crispy. If you take your order to go the fries tend to be soggy. There is plenty of parking, but they only take cash. There are two ATMs within walking distance.

The fish and chips were good. The "Krabcakes" were not. I liked the chips, the zucchini sticks were good and the service was polite. I don't know if I would go back. It wasn't the best I have had, but definitely "good."

Nothing special. Fried fish in batter and thick fries. Gotta use a lot of tartar sauce otherwise you can't taste anything. Way overpriced too since it's probably a tourist trap. Not coming back!

Cute, clean little place with a euro flair. Hard to tell if it was authentic eruo or just a really good copy. Small menu of fried fish, seafood and chicken with fries. Went with the standard fish and chips regular order. Note - the regular order is two huge pieces of meaty fish. Meaty fish. HA! The batter reminds me of fried chicken, so it brought to mind Chicken of the Sea. Excellent pieces of fish, fried just the right way and plenty of fresh cut and fried chips. Enjoyed a black and tan while I waited. Did have to wait twenty minutes and then arranged to pick up my order later because of a class, but the staff was very accomodating. I recommend putting the number in your cell phone and calling ahead to avoid such a wait. Unless you have time.

This place is very small..its a small pub like restaurant that sells all different types of beer..their decor is resembles a bar..they got beer on tap along w/ beer in bottles... their menu consist of mostly all seafood, they had some non seafood items such as fried zucchini, jalepeno poppers, mushrooms, hush puppies (have no clue what that is). I've tried their fish and chips, calamari, oysters, and the jalepeno poppers. The fish is prety good in size, along with the jalepeno poppers. Their calamari was good.. so was the oysters..although I wish the oysters were bigger! They were bite sized..can easily fit in your mouth. All in all the food was good. It gets pretty packed here, so we ordered to go, on a Saturday food took about half an hour...cash only, so be prepared..the place can seat about 20-25 people..so I would recommend take out if you don't want to wait for a table.

  • Herb L.

This is the best Fish and Chips place I've tried. The best thing is that you can have a pint of decent beer with your food. Then top it off with a deep fried English Mars bar (not the same as a Mars bar found in most stores in the US--this version is more like a Milky Way.)

  • Stephanie S.

This place is suffering from a serious identity crisis and doesn't seem to be capable of deciding which country it likes best - Ireland, the UK, or Scotland, but I digress for it seemed to be all about the beer as far as decor goes. I hadn't been in here since the last car plowed through its front door, but the place is still cute. A little cramped because it was a Saturday and the place was pretty packed but it was cozy. I ordered the chicken and chips and was told that it would be a 15 minute wait. 45 minutes later I was still waiting. Got the food and it was hot so i could tell it had just been cooked and not just lying around the back forgotten. I asked for vinegar ad this was a mistake. Vinegar overload. Next time I won't do that seeing as this made the meal hardly worth eating but I soldiered through about half of it. The "chips" weren't great and a little soggy and they were also generously doused in vinegar. I might go back, but I think there are better places out there.

The cook/owner of this place is either cheap or has something against minorities, either way she encourages her help to limited the small packets of tartar sauce/ketchup. Plus they won't give take out orders any vinegar, besides the vinegar they sprinkle on the fish themselves. The take out fish and chips they put vinegar on becomes sticky, gooey, and a newspaper filled lump of shit. Also, the owner and staff's demeanor sucks and they expect a tip, too boot. The owner walks around with a smirk like she despises any customer that isn't white. That's why I stopped going there over a month ago.

I'd read a lot of very positive reviews of this place here on Yelp, and was pretty excited to check it out. I went by earlier this week, and was a pretty disappointed. I love fried fish, and would like to think that I know it when it's good, and this just wasn't. Perhaps because we went in just before closing (though that's no excuse) the fish was very greasy, and the hush puppies were burnt. The fish was stuck to the newspaper, so that when I tried to remove it, all of the skin/batter stuck to the news paper. I haven't completely written this place off yet, and do plan on giving them a second chance. I hope my experience is better the second time around. By the way, this place is cash only, which is a bit archaic in this day.

My bf and I decided to try everything out in this little plaza in Pacifica. We've already tried Columbo's and Green Enchilada, both of which are excellent, so now it was time for us to try Camelot Fish & Chips. After reading all the great reviews, I was really excited to try this out. I mean, who doesn't like deep fried goodness? I know I most certainly do. Anyway, the reviews were right- the place is very small..but cozy. They sure love Guiness over there, which made my bf very happy. We both ordered the fish & chips and both came out piping hot. It was absolutely delicious!!! The only thing is that my bf prefers to have lemon squeezed over his fish, but they don't have lemon there. I'll be back to try some other items, but the fish & chips are a definite must.

love this place to death ! brother dear turned me onto Camelot a few years ago and I've frequented many times. I stick with the fish & chips but I've mooched a few fried clams and oysters from the bro -- yum ! I believe this to be very close to authentic Brit fare . . . they wrap your order in newspaper and the malt vinegar is to die for. haven't yet succeeded in heisting a bottle for home but I will one day. funny: when brother first told me about Camelot, he said, 'hey I found this cool place in Pacifica that has the best fish & chips. they're kinda janky though cuz they use the Chronicle to wrap up their stuff.' classic, God love this guy.

the good: pretty decent fish and chips, good onion rings as well the bad: arent open sundays (-1 star), dont take credit cards (-1 star), absolutely HORRIBLE tartar sauce* (-1 star), they fly a british flag (-1 star)-- as an irish american, i cant stand the redcoats! *youd think they could do a little better than tiny little factory made packets of tartar sauce that has no flavor and an odd consistency. do yourself a favor and head to safeway to buy some decent tartar sauce and get cash back before you go to Camelot!

when we crave fish, we go to Camelot. when we see the sun shining in Pacifica, we go to Camelot. when we think, "what should we have for lunch today?", we go to Camelot. Camelot has the best fish & chips my husband and i have ever eaten and whenever we eat lunch at Camelot, we end up ordering more to take over to the family in Daly City. HINTS: don't bother ordering anything but fish. we have tried the hushpuppies & shrimp, and neither have come close to the quality of fish. their chips (french fries) are always fresh, hot, and perfect. it's great enjoying a Black & Tan while waiting for your meal, which can seem a bit long when you are craving their food. however, it is always fresh and made just for you. if there are orders ahead of you, you may wait 30 minutes before your meal is put in front of you...however, usually we are fed quickly. one note: we have driven to Pacifica for Camelot and found them closed. once we arrived an hour before their closing time on Saturday and wondered why it was closed. do they close if they run out of fish? if so - i would consider calling before going. two other times we've called and found they were closed. also, be careful of sitting close to the door - their front has been driven through 2x now, or is it 3x? this is truly a Pacifica jewel, and well worth traveling to enjoy!

I have been coming to this place since it open in the late 1960s. Every time I eat here it brings back memories. The portion has gotten a little smaller, but the quality is still there. Still the best fish and chips, and can't find anyone who can beat it. This is a family own business and has not changed hands since it open. Every time I visit the area, I always stop by.

I don't know. Been going there forever and I used to love it. Now, I just kinda like it. And only go there when my British mom in law is in town. The fish and chips have definetly changed in taste. Used to be the bomb...now... not so much. Did they change something? is the prep half assed. I don't know. I'll keep going and hope to God it gets better.

Disclaimer: This review is based solely on the quality of the food not service. I found it difficult finding a decent Fish & Chips place but I think I found it! Thanks to a co-worker (who so happens to be English as well), I was led to this gem in Pacifica (right off of the freeway near Safeway). Despite the thick cloak of fog, you can find some pretty authentic tasting fish & chips. I know what English folks might be thinking. It can't be. A half way decent Fish & Chips place? Yes! Give it a try. It's a small, quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city but it will be worth it. You can also find a small assortment of European chocolates for dessert (i.e., Crunchie, Aero, various Cadbury Flavors, etc.) behind the counter. Why solely based on the food? The service doesn't come with a smile or hello but, hey, at least you get some good food. That's all that really matters, doesn't it?

Absolutely Amazing! The place is adorable! Nicely decorated! But the food is Amazing! The fish and chips are delicious and it keeps you coming for more. The portions are filling! I love how they serve them up and I trade off with sweet potato fries and oh my gosh are they delicious! Honestly, it is truly the best!

Having an American Girlfriend, I took great pride in informing her that her part of the world doesn't have a clue when it comes to a simple dish that is advertised everywhere, but never, ever, done right. Alas, Camelot came along, and now I have one less thing to moan about. The secret to a good fish and chips, is the batter on the fish. Camelot manages to keep the batter crispy without being too thin or too thick, and that's all we ask for. As the Mrs. said, the service isn't particularly nice, but then it's not particularly nasty either. Impersonal, introverted, stoic. Much like the British, really. As long as the fish is 'creme de la monf, Rodney', I'll keep coming back.

    (4)
  • Nicholas B.

Camelot's is the best traditional fish n chips I have had in the Bay Area. They make real chips (not french fries). And the cod is fresh and flaky with a golden crisp batter, the way it's supposed to be. If you know what real fish n chips taste like, try Camelot's. You'll be glad you did. One thing, if you get it to go, they may try to give you some tartar sauce packets. Give that back to 'em and ask for the homemade tartar sauce. It's much better!

Tasty, authentically English fish & chips, fast service. It's a little pricey, but they give you a ton of food and the decor of this place is awesome.

  • michelle s.

You heard right. It's good here! If I were to imagine what authentic fish and chips were like, I would hope that it would be like this. (Does that really mean anything?) Crunchy golden brown batter with flaky white fish accompanied by thick cut chips. They have English beers to wash it down with too. As well as, some English candy. 'Flakes' is my favorite. The chocolate ribbons crumble as you bite into it. Try it on ice cream. It's pretty dark with a cavernous feel here. I like it. You can check out all the English chotchke on the wall when you're waiting for your food. It's funny they have two clocks one for 'Pacifica' and the other 'London'. Alright enough chit chat, just pass me the vinegar.

worst customer service. we called in an order the other day and when we went to pick it up it was wrong. we told the girl and she said "sorry, too bad" THAT WAS IT. no offer to refund or remake! she said we must have miss-ordered and there was nothing she would do about it. the fish was soggy and the calamari was tasteless and the fries were cold.

    (1)
  • RICKY C.

I actually will give this at least three and a half stars or maybe four. Nah, three and a half is cool. Would give it more stars but they can use a little customer service training. Ok people, here it goes!! Do not order fish and chips to go! Ever!! It's just the fact that any kind of seafood wrapped around newspaper gives me a bad vibe and just straight out nasty!! When you eat here, try not to use so much tarter sauce and ketsup. Use the vinegar they have there becuz it's off the hooook!! IF YOU DON'T LIKEIT THE VINEGAR, DON'T COME HERE becuz to me i think that's whats make it good up in here. When you do come, try to dine in at Camelot. I know I know, there are youngsters there serving and cooking and they might not know squat about customer service but com'on now, fish and chips is not a 4 star resturaunt kinda meal anyways. But I hear ya Dogg!! Just go there, order the food, eat it with lottsa vinegar, and cut the freak outta there. I recommend ordering the sampler plate. Its gots some fish, squid, shrimp, oysters, scallops, hush puppies and fries for like $10-11. It's a lot of food for what it is. BUT REMEMBER, easy on the tarter sauce and ketsup especially for the fish cuz the vinegar is hella good. You also can get some european candy there aswell. never had it though. ohhh yea, the clams are good there too. Why are they not on the combo plate??? Beats Da Hells Outta Me Dogg!!!!

Deep fried goodness. This is "the" go to spot for fish & chips in SF. The fish is served in newspaper and they're in Pacifica so you know the seafood is fresh. The fries are cut thick and get soggie quickly that's the only drawback (I like thin cut pom frites type fries). But the thick fries do absorb the extra grease. :) If you love fish & chips, you'll love this place.

Very good fish and chips. A bit pricey. Everything tasted good even the Irish beer I washed it down with. I could not tell if the fish was fresh but I know the chips were. I have not been to many places but this is the best place I've had fish and chips. They serve black and tans and a bunch of other mixed beers.

Mmmmm mmmm my boyfriend took me here and I reallly enjoyed it! I ordered the fish & chips which was yummmy, glad it wasn't drenched in oil like most places. He had the chicken & chips, smelled real gooood! I'm not sure if they sell breaded zucchini here anymore, but I had ordered some of that too the last time I went, I was happily stuffed. The location is great, drive by towards the beach after and unbutton your pants, let your tummy breathe and enjoy the view! The prices are also very reasonable, overall great fish & chips spot.

Finally had a chance to try out Camelot on 03/09/2009 after hearing all the good things people had to say about the place. I needed a squid fix after the weekend and settled for the calamari and chips for my meal. The tiny pub had a few customers digging into their fish and chips on the cold Monday night. I loved all the very typical English pub decor covering the walls (pictures of Princess Di, Elizabeth II and Prince Consort and bulldogs). I was surprised at the nice selection of English sweets available for dessert but decided against it until the next visit. Within 10-15 min I had a hot, newspaper wrapped bundle of calamari and chips to take home. Surprisingly, the food survived the trip home and was still hot and crispy when I unwrapped it 10 min later. The chips were nice and thick, reminding me of In-n-out fries lightly salted. The calamari were dark brown squid rings that were cooked just right and not chewy at all. Overall, very satisfied and I hope to be back soon to try out the onion rings and hush puppies.

Excellent fish. I have been coming here since I was a child. My only complaint is that the "chips" are no longer authentic. They're more like steak fries now, not as thick. Nicely priced, and good selection of beers. Everything served here is fried, so plan to take a break from your diet.

...K R. ... ..."I REALLY don't understand 'alec m's' disdain for this place.. Those that long for those classic 70s style fish/chips joints... need look no further. It can get crowded during key times, so be smart and order over phone (like 20-25 minutes ahead of time). Family run biznezz too.

Normally I'm not a big fish and chips fan but this place makes me a fan. The first time I ordered from here I got the scallops and chips, with malt vignegar and it was delicious! This last time, I got the shrimp and chips and they were also delicious! The prices are decent for what you get, good portions seafood and lots of fries. Camelot's also serves beer on tap and in bottles!

Good fish and chips place. Location is kind of hidden, it's a bit small, but the food makes up for it. We ordered the usual fish and chips and the wait wasn't bad. Price is reasonable for the amount of food given. The fish wasn't too greasy and the fries were thick cut. Overall, it's the best fish and chips place we've ever been to. Thumbs up!

I was having a severe fish and chips craving and went down to Camelot. It hit the spot, and then some. Wow, the portions were huge. Really good fish. The chips were ok. I did need some Lipitor afterwards as I could feel the grease running through my veins. :-) Yum.......

I live a few blocks from Camelot and frequent this place a few times a year. The fish here is quite good and should be eaten with tartar and malt vinegar. The chips on the other hand are not that good. The chips come soggy and lack the crisp crunch one expects with good french fries. My mom claims this place uses bad oil and she tells me not to eat here, but i still come once and a while when im hungry and craving some fried fish, since there is not much other options other than colombos sandwich in the area.

This place serves up good fish and chips, and the staff is non-pretentious, which i like. AND it's close to 24 hour fitness so i can workout and then eat fried, fatty food =P

the fried scallops is the bomb!! loved the fish and chips and also the crabcakes! service was ok and it took a while to get our order but it was all worth it as soon as i took a bite of the scallops.

YES, it's greasy. It's Fish and Chips???!!! There's British royal family kitsch all over the walls and you can get real ginger beer. Lot's of real Brit beer as well. It's all about the fish, so don't bother with the other crustacean. The clientele is tattooed, slightly redneck families that probably lived in SF a long time ago, but decided on a suburban life was more economical to have a fleet of Harleys.

I LOVE Camelot Fish and Chips. It is the only place that I will get Fish and Chips. They are my standard for taste, texture and service. I have been to Camelot at least 40 times. I have been able to try the fish, shirmp, scallops, clams, jalepeno poppers, fries, onion rings and a Black Velvet (Guiness with Cider). The Black Velvet is really good and I don't even like Guiness, but this combo is great! Camelot serves Guiness and other beers by the bottle. Even though I think all of these taste great, I love the Fish and Shrimp the most. The batter on the fish is firm and golden, just like I like. But if you like the batter softer or crispier, just ask Karen to do so. You'll get it how you like it. Besides the food, I love that restuarant is long time family owned and operated establishment. This business is managed by Karen with the help of family and a close knit group of employees. Karen is a great person and is really easy to talk to. You'll find her there every single day. If you go in there and find that you love or hate something, ask for her by name. She always welcomes the feedback. Even though I go in there a lot, she asks for my evaluation of the fish and even the fries. She is eager to please the customer. Oh and they just remodeled recently after having a truck drive through the front window for the second time in their history. So go check it out! My promise to Yelp and anyone that reads my reviews is that I am a patron of the business that I am reviewing more than ONCE! I believe restaurants have their off days, and times when it is impossible to have the best experience. I have read some of the less than stellar reviews below and just can't help myself....somone wrote that the restaurant smelt greasy and they could smell fish. HMMMMMMM.....I wonder why? They deep fry fish here you nit wit! Another wrote that their fish and fries were stored in newspaper and that their fries and fish were soggy. HMMMMM....I wonder why? This just in.....fries get soggy when their not eaten right away. Fish and Chips are only wrapped like that when you get them to go. I suggest to "eating in" to have the best experience. And to correct them, the fish and chips are wrapped in wax paper and then covered in newspaper. This is so grease doesn't get all over the place. I guess I am one of the many that appreciates this or has the sense to figure it out. I appreciate an honest review, but these were just a little off. Go ahead, check out Camelot and see if you love it....or LOVE it! You can see me and Adri sitting on the bar stools.

Good quality fish and chips! Love the hush puppies and the jalapeno poppers, good service, good food. My family and I go there and we enjoy ourselves. The atmosphere is cool too, makes me feel like I'm in a hole in the wall in London...LoL, well maybe not...But delicious to say the least.

The chips weren't really there for me. Everything was over-cooked with heavy batter. I may have gotten them on an off day and enjoyed the atmosphere enough to try again.

Being of the red-haired, freckle-faced, limey ilk, I know from fish n' chips. Many places only get one half of the equation right, but it's important to pay attention to that all important ampersand, 'n', or "and" between the fish and the chips. If you can't get both right, you can't get it right at all. I'd say Camelot does a pretty good job. The batter on the fish is light and crispy and sticks to the flesh when you take a bite. My biggest pet peeve is biting into a nice slab of fried fish only to have it slide right out of the batter, leaving me hanging with a sad, oily glove of empty breading. I can honestly say that has not happened to me at Camelot. The chips are sliced thick and have a nice crunch on the outside with a fluffy interior. I luuuuuuuuv malt vinegar on my chips - my favorite thing being the soggy mess of tangy salty mashed potatoes left at the bottom after a good dose of the puckery sauce. I really don't like tartar sauce at all, but have to say that I actually used my entire container at Camelots (it was small though, so it wasn't too hard. If you like tartar sauce, you might be disappointed). I haven't gotten fish and chips to-go here, but then, I would never get fish and chips to-go. To me, that's like ordering souffle or an omelet to-go. The likelihood of deliciousness is exponentially decreased by every second it sits waiting to be eaten.

where have you been all my life? finally found an authentic fish and chips place in the bay area. . . when we travel to england, we love f/c. most places in the u.s. use too much batter or the fish is not fresh. they make an almost near-english experience at this place. next time i will come back at night and have some old english beer.

It doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you! Like with so many 'hole in the wall' places, the food is fantastic! Personally I love the shrimp and hush puppies; but everything I've had here has been good! Oh, and the frosty beverage glasses are the best! Reasonablly priced and fun. Great family owned joint. Just don't forget the CASH, as that's the only form of payment they accept.

This place has been around for a while now. Great place to get some classic style, real battered fish and thick cut chips. They used to have a picture of the place when a truck slammed through their dining area but I guess they've taken down that frame.

You'd think a seaside town would have good fish and chips, but unfortunately I found on my 2 visits to this little restaurant that the food was bland and service mediocre at best. The restaurant is employed by teenage girls that don't seem to really listen to their customers (both occasions I went and asked for extra tartar sauce and vinegar, and none was given). The food takes quite a while so if you really do have a hankering for fish & chips, call in advance and prepare to wait 30 minutes.

I love seafood, and what better than having a good ole plate of fish and chips. If your a fish and chips fan, this is the best you can get in the area. All the seafood is fresh, sweet, succulent and tasty considering it is in Pacifica. The location is sort of hard to find so make sure you keep your eyes peeled. It's a very small, yet classicly maintained place. It's sad when you try to take it to go cause they can't give you malt vinegar (which I LOVE) since it's self served in their bottles unless you want it put on before they wrap it for you. I always eat here so that's never a problem for me. They have a crazy lunch rush so make sure your here before or after it or just have the patience for the wait. They take awhile to cook it, but that's because it's fresh and well worth it. You'll probably wait on average about 10-15 min for your food. I always get the Camelot which includes 1 big piece of fish, 3 scallops, 3 shrimps and 3 oysters (yes, oysters deep fried. 1st time trying and knowing that it can be cooked this way). I love this place and whenever I get the craving for some fried seafood goodness, this is where it's at. I just found out that they deep fry their Mars Bars. I want to try that next time.

I love Fish and Chips! I have been going here since I was a child and still continue to go here. The wait is long but well worth it because it's so delicious! I love dining in the restaurant because the decorations are so cool and it has a great vibe!

Great brews on tap, some great English style fare, family friendly. I LOVE this place! I especially enjoy the decor. I feel like I am in London. Always good music too. Great place. They even survived a car crash into their storefront. The food is good. I like also that it is a family run business. Great place.

I absolutely love this place. This is the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. They have a lot of combo meals to choose from, so you are not stuck to just fish and chips. Last Friday I had the oysters, fish, and chips, and I previously have had the calamari combo as well. The crab cakes are a huge hit with the family as are their scallops. They lightly bread each piece of fish so that it is not over oily. The fish comes out soft and juicy, not dry like some places who over cook it, and it has a delicious crunch to it from that yummy golden batter. This is a small place, with only a few tables inside, and therefore when the line is out the door the wait can stretch to 30 min to get food served at your table. But you can call in your order ahead of time to pick-up. Warning, they are cash only, so do come prepared. But I promise that the inconvenience of cash-only and the possible long wait is well worth it!

A small, narrow physical facility but friendly place. Did a take out order for fish and chips and hush puppies. Big portions, one order was enough for two of us. Fast service. Great drafts (while I was waiting). Actually service was to fast, didn't get a chance to really linger and savor the beer. Good value on the fish, a bit over priced on the "puppies". Would certainly recommend to friends.

Apologies to those looking for actual review of the food here - mine is solely based on my rather horrible experience. I went in expecting a bit of a wait, as others mentioned in their reviews. Should have left the place right when I realized I was being completely ignored by the waitress/cashier because she had zero intention of taking my order. She just minded her own business while I stood there awkwardly for about 5 minutes. I literally had to wave my hand in her face to remind her that I had not been helped yet. Waited 40 minutes (patiently) before going up to the counter to ask if my order would be ready anytime soon, just to get a blank look from the same waitress/cashier. I understand this is a small shop and they prepare their food as the orders are placed, but 40 minutes for fish and chips? I had to ask for my money back because the ridiculous wait, horrible service and rather condescending attitude toward asian americans totally turned me off. never again.

the fish is actually fresh. its pollock which is bottom of the barrel fish but they make it well. i've heard good things about there clams so i tried them, but ive had the exact same ones at a Chinese restaurant so they must be out of a bag. Overall though it is some of the best fish and chips i've had in the bay area!

Fish & chips and don't bother with anything else. I've had the shrimp and they're the yucky from the freezer breaded version. I like to dip my fish in malt vinegar but there is no option for that, they either put it on your fish for you or you can have it at the table, not good for me as I always take it to go. I've often thought to bring my own container to put the vinegar in, but then again I might as well just buy it huh? Yeah but I don't eat fish and chips THAT much. They wrap up your food in newspaper, apparently just like they do in London, but I've never been so I wouldn't know. The newspaper does help in quicker clean up though.

  • Filbert N.

Best fish & chips EVER! very authentic--they serve it it in newspaper for take-out! I highly recommend the shrimp & chips with lots of malt vinegar--mmm! You definitely don't eat their for the interior--small (it only has about 10 small tables) and with a not-very warm atmosphere. But, mmm!

  • Marleen C.

This place is good if you're in the neighborhood, but I won't go out of my way. If you like lemon and tartar sauce, I recommend bringing your own bottle of sauce because they'll only give you a few packets at a time and they dont have any lemon at all.

  • D W.

i'm not really into fish and chips but had to try it since it's in the neighborhood. my review probably wouldn't be fair since i did order to go. had 2 orders of fish and chips and 1 order of calamari and chips. the fish was a little overcooked. calamari had a cool breading but it was dry on the outside but ok in the inside. i think i have to try it once more and dine in to be fair. they only take cash, which sucks. seats about 30 people. it closes around 8pm everyday. lot's of parking in the area. and they didn't ask if i wanted tarter sauce. so i got home and i didn't have any.

  • elisabeth c.

Waited 20 minutes for fish & chips to go, and the "chips" were cold and flabby, and the fish had clearly gone straight from the deep freeze, where it likely spent a very long time given the tough texture and total lack of flavor, into the fryer. There is no excuse for serving old frozen fish in the bay area where fresh fish is readily available for daily delivery to restaurants directly from local suppliers. The style of the batter was not British, despite Ye Olde Englande theme of the decor. It was a thin crumb-like coating, not the fluffy batter of English fish and chips. This place was a major disappointment.

  • Anita J.

i've gone here quite a few times and made a few orders. i like giving restaurants a few tries over a good amount of time. unfortunately, this did not change the greasy level nor did it change the fact that the tartar sauce if given to you is in a little plastic Heinz packet. i love fish and chips, i can deal with greasy, and i happen to love vinegar on my fish; however, the serving of Heinz tartar out of a little packet it were ketchup or mustard was just not right. last time i went, they only accepted cash. ;[ eh, i only go there for hush puppies and even that doesn't taste good; mine always endup burnt.

I love this place. I've been coming here ever since highschool and I love it. The food is not overly greasy, amazing how they drain most of the oil out. I've tried their scallops and their shrimp, but their fish is what you really come here for. The portions used to be a lot bigger, but with how expensive things are costing now, I can understand the change. Besides, it's just not healthy to be eating 2 huge pieces of deep fried fish. Good, but not healthy. Their fries aren't the best, but good enough. Hmmm, i might just have to take a trip there right now. ;-)

I think a true review must include everything that they offer. I hate the fact that this spot doesn't take visa or debt! It is the year 2008 people. This is why this place can never get five stars. I had a half fish half chicken plate with chips. My girl friend had there combination plate, half fish and half calamari with chips. We also had there jalapeno poppers as a side order. The jalapeno peppers were OK and the chips need to be eaten quickly because they get a little soggy. The fish is really good but I think there calamari was better. The chicken wasn't grease even though it was deep fried. There tater sauce to be honest SUCKS! They don't refrigerate it or there ketchup. I luckily had some tater sauce of my own from the grocery store that tasted better. There interior makes you fell like you are in London. From the paintings to the England style phone booth painted on the bathroom door. They have some newspaper clips up that were written about there restaurant also. I read one of them and it was about how someone drove there car through there front door. The car made is half way through the dining area. When I asked the lady taking my order about it she said it wasn't the first time! I like there food but I don't think I will ever dine in. I just don't want to die for some fish & chips.

This disgusting place with greasy fish spoiled my weekend. According to Webster, Camelot is "a time, place, or atmosphere of idyllic happiness". This camelot is a trashy place filled with tatooed rednecks in sleevless t-shirts, gaging on chunks of oily fish. We wasted $18 there (both of us left our lunches untouched), and then had to run to a supermarket next door to buy chocolate to cover the aftertaste. I still feel like barfing over the keyboard as I am writing this.

another plug for p town~dunno really any fish/chips spots here in the neighborhood...find me one that competes with this place & ill challenge it~only reason this spot is missing another star is due to this p town hideout not havin a tv where espn should be on...this spot is small~crowded this time which is good business....cant complain about fried fish/oysters/scallops/shrimp here...add sum ketchup/tabasco sauce its over lol....another icing on the cake....theres a freakin bar here~& the beer selection is pretty good from bottled to tap brews

For ages, I've tried to find a place where I could eat great Fish & Chips. I finally found this joint when a workmate took me there. Its a hidden gem!. Worth the drive to Pacifica. I give this Fish & Chips joint a star less only because of the sucky Customer Service (personal experience here!)..lol. (Hey I can't blame the kids). But the Fish & Chips is off the hook!! Fish & Chips to go was what I did twice. I kind of liked the newspaper wrapped pack..gave it an almost authentic old style english look & feel to it. Fish was in huge pieces. For once it was nice tasting fish that was not CATFISH!! and nice tasting something that was not 50 % batter. Loved the fish with vinegar & Tartar sauce. My kids of course ate theirs with ketchup :). Carted my family to this restaurant & ordered a couple of "TO GO" fish & Chips pack and headed to the beach to sample our lunch. It was lovely!. Restaurant is quaint, clean and has a nice English feeling to it. (Duhhh..its the CAMELOT). I recommend this Fish & Chips joint to anyone who loves Fish & Chips. Of course if you are health conscious, Fish & Chips may not be the thing for you. And know that this is not the regular healthy baked breaded fish..its the real thing..deep fried in oil...so be-aware of that before you go. My family likes the original fried (in oil) fish now and again, and CAMELOTS is the way to go for us!. We found the batter sort of drained of oil, crunchy & tasty. It was not soggy and soft like some other places we've been too. Despite the service, the Fish & Chips is enough to take me back anytime I am craving it!! I give it 4 stars.

This place is really good for fish and chips. Well, actually, I didn't like the "chips" but that was okay b/c the portion of fish was so big, I could barely finish that. They also have a nice selection of other fried seafood...all reasonably priced. The decor isn't much, just a couple of booths and tables, but in my mind, that's the perfect setting for fish and chips.

  • Carrie Z.

This is a traditional British-style fish and chips restaurant. Just like the best "chippies" I frequented in England, the restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall and the food comes wrapped in newspaper (no-fear, though, there is a protective paper lining so you don't ingest a smeary headline). Be sure to ask for extra vinegar and salt on your fish, which will be cooked fresh for you (no nasty steam tables or warming lights here!) Overall, Camelot serves some of the best and most authentic English fish and chips that I have found in California, but steer clear if you are on a low-fat diet or looking for something grilled. It is all about the fried food here, baby! (Do they even have an oven??) Also, you can leave your credit cards at home . . . they only take cash.

What happened? This place was good when I was little. Now it's horrendous! The food takes a long time and it's not even done the way they offer it once you actually get it. Thefish was too greasy to eat and the chips were completely undercooked and powdery. When I called to speak with the cook. She said that she couldn't believe my complaint and that noone else had complained today. I asked her why they didn't put the offered vinegar and salt on the order and she flat out said that they had. This unedible meal was nearly $10. Skip it! Better offerings to be found in Half Moon Bay Pub.

this place is far from trashy, greasy and/or vomitable. the restaurant might be dreary, but they cook the best fish & chips i've EVER tasted, seriously. there's a really long wait, but it's well worth it. a friendly tip: call and order ahead.

The fish and the chips are both excellent. Good batter and nicely crisp, with fish done just right. The ambiance really is a friendly British pub, though I can't claim to know the difference between an English one and an Irish one. And yes, they have Guinness, but far more interesting is that they also have Smithwick's Ale. A happy find.

Granted I went on a busy saturday. My son ordered the fish, I ordered the shrimp. His was fresh and good, mine was out of the freezer. should have gotten the fish. Disappointed. I will only get the fish next time I go.

Been coming here for years. Mostly get it to go as it is a small place. Make sure you've got cash, they don't take cards but it is well worth the small incovenience. Portions are large and never disappoint. Fish is flaky with a nice light batter. My family also enjoys the shrimp, chicken, fried mushrooms, scallop and oysters. The chips are hand cut and always fresh. Everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait especially during peak times.

A great local place for seafood and chips (fries). I moved here last week and was stunned by the amount of local places that's around Camelot and Pacifica in general. Cash only place, extremely small which is why I took off the star but the friendliest people ever. Tasty food and Guinness cocktails. I will definitely be coming back

Camelot fish & chips, where do I begin.. Well first I want to thank all the yelpers who reviewed this place and I also want to thank yelp for helping me find a place that fulfills my fried seafood craving. Camelot fish & chips is good for 3 things. Fish, chips, and beer. When you come here, you will be surprised at how comfy and quaint they can turn a small space into. They have beers on tap and the food they have are: (everything is deep fried) oysters, shrimp, fish, clam strips, chicken, french fries.. and I know I'm forgetting something.. But yes, this place only takes cash & once you order, it takes about 10-15 mins for your food to arrive. BUT while you're waiting, enjoy a nice shock top. Once the food coma settles in, you can walk along pacifica pier which is only 5 mins away from the fish &chips place

Had a chance to hit here today with some friends. Turned out that Yelper's were right on...great choice for a late lunch. Let no one be deceived...this is a TOTAL hole in the wall, by any view. But....a damned good one. GREAT selection of suds on tap. They have Diet Pepsi (always the mark of a fine establishment). :-) We ordered all over the map - fish and chips, calamari and chips, clams and chips. All were devoured by a team of carnivores in minutes. This is a good sign. :-) In fact, the ONLY ding I give them (and yeah, it's a serious issue)...Pacifica is not that far north (relatively speaking) from Monterey. So why they would serve frozen calamari is beyond my simple imagination. It was good, but very definitely not local. That's just wrong. So firing on seven out of eight cylinders is pretty good though. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

We went here after the tidepools. Very casual, but very small. We arrived at 530 and couldnt sit down. Capacity is maybe 20. With the amount of biz they do, they need a bigger place. Between 5 of us, we sampled quite a bit of stuff. Every thing was good but EVERYTHING is fried. If you dont like deep fried stuff, dont even walk in. Prices were very fair. Good food, good prices, horrible seating. Good friendly service. If i travel back that way down the 1, I will go there again and if you like fish, you need to go there.

All I really saw when i was driving by was "fish and chips"... I was like ummm.. must be not that great since the sign looks even a bit dull for me. However; I was craving fish and chips one day and bam! ran inside to see whats good, and the fish and chips was goooooooood. Even had fish and onion rings which was pretty good also. Its not too overly priced, cash only, very limited menu ( fish, chips, onion rings and beer on tap), and surprisingly all women work here; or at least that i've seen the last 4 times i've went in for food. Usually the pretty ones are the waitresses hahah niceeee. Definitely go in and try it out!

Like the atmosphere. We just stopped in for a beer on our way home from a walk to the Pier, before our final trek up the hill. They have dark beers, which are hard to find elsewhere. Would love to be able to do it more often, so we always peak in, but its usually too packed to get a table, with tall the diners. Very popular spot.

This is, without a doubt, one of the worst fish and chips places, that I have been to. Believe me, I have been to a lot, both here in the US an Uk. Went crabbing on the Pacifica pier on Friday, thought it would be a great idea to have fish and chips for dinner. Found this place listed in my GPS. The fish is grainy, not flaky and smelled horrible. Eat only one ( I was hungry as hell). The batter was over fried, and nothing like it is supposed to be. The fillet was thin, with dark veins on the side. The chips were so soggy that it was difficult to get it off the paper. This is the main reason, I am writing this review : I was violently ill after having this. Came home feeling funny in my stomach. Then the throw up started. Went of till the last bit of fish and chips came out . Avoid this place. On top of all this, it is a "cash only" place.

Having passed this tiny hole in the wall at least a thousand times over the years when headed to the Pacifica post office, I finally decided to stop in. My healthy breakfast had given way to gigantic rumblings and dinner was still several hours away. I found myself in a very atmospheric place, filled with memorabilia of England - pictures of Lady Di, the Queen, Guinness ads, flags, etc and a great assortment of fried fish and seafood choices. Of course, I had to have the big combination called "The Camelot" - it included fish, 3 shrimp, 3 oysters,3 scallops and fries. Only calamari were missing and I don't see why they couldn't have ordered a few of those as well. I left off a star just for that...I love calamari! I restrained myself from ordering a side of mushrooms and sweet potato fries. I finished everything except except a few fries and washed it down with a wonderful draft of Guinness ( I'm normally not a beer drinker except for the dark kind ). All in all, it was quite tasty though I'm not overly fond of fried food any more. If I could have gotten a grilled seafood plate with the same choices, I would have really been happy. I wasn't crazy about the tartar sauce but the malt vinegar was fine. Nothing could really compare with my visit to British friends in Rye and eating at the fish and chips place, right on the beach, that they took me to there. Camelot is the best of its kind that I've had, thus far, in the U. S. Given a choice, though, I'd opt for grilled seafood anywhere over fried.

I like this place. The fish was crispy and good. I liked their tartar sauce as well which is essential for any good fish and chip place. I'd put Camelot up against some of the places I tried in London a few years back. I have had better though which is why the four stars. Its good but just shy of great. The staff was really attentive and nice. We brought our small daughter with and they were good to her. So if your in town and want some solid fish and chips check it out.

I love their fish and chips! Their portions are pretty big. I can't finish an order by myself. Also, their hush puppies are really good.

Better than some fish and chips that I've had in Ireland and England!! The BEST this side of the Atlantic!!

Yum! Beer battered fish and deep fried calamari... this is paradise if you'e craving salty-vinegary-fried food. Best fish & chips in the Bay that we've found so far. Crispy and not soggy, best w/ lots and lots of salt & malt vinegary and a smell that will linger in the air and your clothes for HOURS. They also have some UK beers on tap (like, all of UK- can't seem to figure out if it's Britain, Scotland, Ireland, or some UK mutt-hybrid??), Mars bars, Heinz beans, and some other random UK foods for sale. However, I do wish that they were: open past 8pm, and not overpriced (about $9 for an order?!). And didn't make me feel like a bloated whale afterwards due to the heavy oil and sodium (but so worth it). Call in beforehand so you don't end up waiting FORTY minutes for your to-go order like we did tonight... definitely an exercise in patience!

My favorite fish and chips spot in the Bay. No question about it. Fish & Chips- Crunchy and not too oily. THIS is what I imagine when I hear about fish and chips in London. Beer- Black & Tan, please. They've got Guiness on tap and you've got a few choices to mix with it. Perfect brew to wash it all down with. Cash only. I've made the mistake of coming here a couple times with just my card and had to run to the bank. :P

Whoa, they remodeled? It looks really cool in here now with all the London kitchiness and old school Guinness pictures. Plus they got brews on tap now. + + + After all these years, I still think Camelot has one of the better fish and chips in the 650. Ordered up their Camelot special, and yes, it came with a lot. Gigantic piece of battered fish, 3 x scallops, 3 x shrimps, and fries all wrapped up traditionally in newspaper with thick slabs of fries. The batter wasn't overflowingly thick but had a had a nice crisp bite to it. Gorton the fisherman would be proud. However, one thing that didn't get upgraded is that they don't accept credit cards? So what, they have a BOFA atm across the street. It's ACROSS the street. In addition, they close at 8pm, even on Friday's?!?! C'mon, even my 89 year old Grandma sleeps later than 8pm. Given the limited eating and hanging out options in Pacifica, this place would and could handle the extra business. Her Majesty the Queen of England herself would want this place to accept credit cards and stay open later than 8pm.

Our favorite place for fish or chicken n' chips. They have quite a variety of other seafood they can include in the basket as well. The clams are very tasty and I love the fish (nice and crunchy, but not hard). The chips are thick and delicious and I love putting the table malt vinegar on them. It has a small pub feel and is a cozy place for a comforting meal. And a word on the chicken: my brother and fiance get it every time. It's nicely seasoned and crisp.

I love to Yelp, but like a homecoming queen, I'm a bit picky about what I choose to review. When I do choose to Yelp, I do it with enthusiasm and eagerness, hoping that the 20 minutes spent composing a review will be ridiculed and laughed at for years to come. Actually, those 20 minutes of my life are always better spent taking a dump, which would have been more satisfying and productive than Yelping. But I combine the two and Yelp on my laptop while I'm dropping turds off. So there. Anyways, the main reason I choose not to Yelp all my hidden secrets is simply because I'm selfish and want to keep all of my favorite things among my friends or flaunt them to the unfortunate girls I'm dating who think I'm cool enough to bang (When you find out the truth, sucks to be you hahaha). God, I sound like an arrogant prick so I'll be nice and try not to claim Camelot by peeing on the establishment, hand cuffing myself to the door, and screaming in a thick Chinese accent "She mine! You stay away!" Why the change of heart? Because I want you all to get cankles. See, at Camelot, there is delicious fried seafood such as shrimp, oysters, scallops, fish, calamari, crab static.px.yelp.com/bphot… , a great English brew selection with Harp (in a bottle) and Guinness (on tap) static.px.yelp.com/bphot… , and Happy Hippo Candy static.px.yelp.com/bphot… . No shit, Sherlock, after all, this is a British fish and chips joint. So what's the big secret? 4 words: DEEP FRIED MARS BAR static.px.yelp.com/bphot… It's not on the regular menu, so don't bother looking. It's hidden next to the English candy's you used to read about in Rhal Dhal's books and comes out looking like this: static.px.yelp.com/bphot… Cut into this treasure static.px.yelp.com/bphot… within 1 minute of receiving it and you will be doing your mouth a favor by burning all of your soft tissues with fried dough and hot grease, singeing your taste buds until they can only detect sweet, eventually choking to death on a 2,000 calorie sugary grave of molten chocolate awesome. You must try this before you die. At least you'll die fat and happy. After all, ain't sharing and eating what life's all about?

been here a few times, enough to know if I need a fix for fish and chips this is the spot to go. If it is your first time there order the camelot you get a lil bit of everthing, fish, clams, oysters, scallops, i think shrimp also, they also have guiness on tap, they can make any concoction you want, snake bite, black and tan, black and lime, they had about 15 listed on there wall try one if not two or three haha this spot is small, and closes early food **** good food decent price (oily but all people know this eating fish and chips) service **** very helpful ambiance **** several posters of ale's tiny bar in front

Fish and chips to go are served true English style, newspaper and all! make sure you have them put the salt and vinegar on it too! My hubby made me try the fried mushrooms and jalepenos. We arrived here on a late wednesday evening around 7pm and be aware that they close early. We could not sit down to eat, but we did throw back a beer and snapple while waiting for our take away order =) I really like the interior, felt like we were in a real pub. The food was great, I would like to come back again to try their shrimp and chips also. The service was considerate and polite. and the place was clean!!

I've been to Camelot before, about 6 years ago, and I had very fond memories of the place: Great food, cute "hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, decent prices. I don't know what happened to this place but I went back on Valentine's day to get crab cakes and a fish and chips combo and it took OVER AN HOUR! Not only did I arrive at 7:10 and not get my food until 8:15 but the people who were behind me in line were already done eating. I kept asking how much longer and the girl said 10 min...then 20 minutes later she said 15 more minutes. I'm no master chef but I assume that most restaurants work in some kind of FIFO (first in--first out) method. So when i asked what was taking so long, the cashier said that there were a lot of call-ins. Fine. So why did the people behind me get their food 30 minutes ago?? I wasn't the only one who had been waiting for an hour either. So I asked to speak with someone in charge and she points to the people in the kitchen indicating that whatever the holdup is, its in their less than capable hands. THEN when I got my food, the fries were soggy and luke warm. WTF??

I'm poor, fat, a girl and a student. This implies that I don't have many calories to waste, I don't have the budget to achieve gout, and I don't have the accommodations to cherry pick tony locations serving gastronaumical orgasms of delight. I also have a Brit BF who longs for the motherland's sweet embrace of haddock fish & chips and some kind of oedipus complex when it comes to food. This place is not in a convenient location. I could not get here by public transportation. It is a small place. With wooden benches/pews reclaimed (or lifted?) from some church. Because nothing says mother England more than obscene amounts of Christianity. I liked the decor. 2 stars. The fish and chips were not so great. The batter was thick. The fish was a bit dry. The flakey white fish was as not very tasty. It required a lot of additions. I'm not a fan of the chips. And the whole portion was just a little too greasy for me. I like light batter. Like tempura. That way it doesn't overpower the fish. Funny thing, the table next to us had two upstanding young gentlemen who spend the entire lunch hour discussing, rehashing, reliving and retelling the events of WWE that occured on the telly the night before. This is the best joke ever: novella-esque stories disguised as a sport and sold to red-necks, who obediently discuss and gossip about the show as if it were real.

The Hush puppies are amazing! I usually order the chicken and chips. Chicken is good, fries could be crispier, but they are not bad. It's small, clean and nicely decorated. Service is consistently good. Takeout orders are packaged well.

If I was comparing Camelot's fish and chips to any other offerings I have had in the area it would get a solid 5* and everything else gets 2*. Comparing it to my favorite fish and chips in Kent, England, it still gets 4* and that's better than 90% of England's fish and chip shops would do. Given the lack of a proper, multi-temperature deep frying range, they did a great job of getting the texture of everything pretty well spot on. Crispy batter and crispy fat chips with soft succulent centers. Nice! The one star was lost because, while it didn't suck in any way, I'd have loved thicker, fresher-tasting fish and the essential malt vinegar was pretty weak. In England we had an advertisement: "if it isn't Sarsons it isn't vinegar". Nothing else will do. Great food, nicely decorated, clean restaurant and friendly, efficient service all make for the best fish and chip shop on the Peninsular by far.

Yum, this is the best fish and chips I've ever had. As a kid I would frequent this place when they had a location in the Sun Valley Dairy strip mall on Linda Mar Blvd. This location is no longer there, however; they still have their original location on Manor Dr. You will not be disappointed with their Fish & Chips. The dining room is small and they only take cash so plan ahead. I usually get mine to go then park by the beach and enjoy my meal, yum, yum, yum.

The locale is great. Right next to the ocean with a safeway center. Parking isn't a hardship, well at least on a friday afternoon at around 4pm. If one was so inclined, one could order one's food to go and enjoy it overlooking the Pacific. The restaurant itself is small with dark wood paneling for that Old English Pub feel. i ordered the fish and chips at $9 and some change. No fountain drinks so 2 bottles of iced tea as I drink a lot when I eat. Total was $15 and change. Service was by nice young gal with a smile. A little pricey. Food was brought out to my table in about 15-20 min. The fish was pollock, a letdown as Cod of course is the preferred fish. Pollock is a meatier fish whereas Cod is lighter and airy with purer white color to its flesh. Fries were hand cut, custom jobs, not frozen out of a bag. Hate to say it,but the meal was average. Tartar sauce was nice and thick although I'd like to see some pickled relish in it. I've had a lot worse but I've also had better. Still no one can beat Duke of Edinburgh in Cupertino.

Cozy place and has a lot of character inside for decor. My opinion order to go and bring it on the beach to enjoy as you watch the beauty of Pacifica, The fish and chips are OK. I've also tried the combo and it was MEH. Pretty cool that they keep it traditional by wrapping it up in newspaper. Not much to say, but well worth trying to see for yourself.

Excellent place in an excellent location. You would almost believe you were in England with the fog and smell of cool salt air which is the perfect time to indulge here in some steamy hot fish and chips. Crunchy and perfect white fish but not greasy at all and the batter was spot on. Crab cakes are flavorful and clean of shells unlike some places around the bay that I have been. They have malt vinegar on the tables of course along with ketchup for you Americanizers. They have a lot of different seafood and appetizers so I could literally eat here every day of the week and have something different. Have a variety of English beers to go with it and you are all set to go. They do as others have said only accept cash and I understand why but who cares, there is an ATM right next door at the bank! Parking is not a problem either especially in the evenings but there is a huge lot across the street in case right in front street parking is full which it never has been since I have been going there. Awesome place and friendly staff. You order at the bar, pay and then have a seat and wait for your drinks and food.

This place is small and charming. The flavor of the food is nothing special but it is very very well prepared. The quality is very fresh and good. The workers are very nice and the kitchen is very clean. All in all, Nothing spectacular but some times Consistency is better than spectacular. Great prices for the portion and friendly chill environment. Definably would be a regular here if I lived in the area. Sometimes I'm willing to drive from the city when I really crave fish and chips and a beer on tap. :P

Funny story... I was going to pick up my sister and her husband up from the airport for a 5 hour layover as they were making their way home from London and asked her what she wanted for dinner. She answered, "Camelot! It tastes better than the fish and chips we just ate here (in London)!" Oh, the irony. This place has become a staple for visiting friends and family and us. The fish and chips are excellent (we also stray and get the shrimp or krab cakes). We love the ease of calling in and picking up our order half an hour later. They say "it'll be done in 20" over the phone, but you still end up waiting. When husband picks up the food, he uses the extra waiting time to enjoy a beer while he waits. *Cash only* (but there's a BofA across the street, by Safeway)

Delicious hangover food in a little town were hangover food and fog is necessary. minus a star for a couple reasons: no cash and no home made tarter sauce. Is it that hard to make tarter sauce, you have to get packets?

  • Elisabeth G.

First impression: adorable and cozy English style pub interior. Food: delicious and authentic English beer batter on the fish. Fries appear to be home-made. The fish came with vinegar and wrapped in newspaper, just like I got on a boardwalk in England. Recommendation: I don't know if this is for to-go orders only, but they gave me packets of tartar sauce. Gross! Home-made tartar sauce would make all the difference in the world. I can't wait to come back to enjoy a beer in this cozy establishment.

PAYMENT ALERT: CASH ONLY!! CASH ONLY!! After craving fish and chips for 3 days now, i took a little stroll down the pacifica for what my friend raves is "the best fish and chips ever." Besides the embarrassing moment of not having a single dollar on me, (they have a Bank of America ATM machine across the street, or the safeway does cash back), I am a fan of their fish and chips. It was well worth the drive just to have their delightful fish and chips. Somehow the atmosphere reminded me of an old english pub, although, I never been to England. Lol. It's a small quaint place which made you feel welcome. However, there weren't that many table for parties larger than 2. Oh, plus their bathroom was clean, stocked, and smelled like lavender. Onto the food: It was serve hot, literally right out of the fryer. I ordered their fish and chips. It comes with 2 fairly large pieces of fish, and underneath a basket of chips (french fries). I guess my eyes were bigger than my mouth because I was expecting that 2 pieces weren't going to fill me, but I was completely stuffed after those 2 pieces. I also have to say their fish was delicious. Their fish tasted really fresh. It didn't have the fishy taste which most other places I go to have. I also like their batter, it was just right, not too battery and crunchy, and not too soggy. It was just the right amount of crunch with that tarter sauce. I love their tarter sauce as well. I don't know what it is, but it tastes likes it's homemade and didn't come from a jar or can. My overall experience was great and I would definitely go Camelot fish and chips again.

They did remodel... looks fantastic. Mom use to take us here after working the day shift at the 711... back in the day when relatives owned it lol. Camelot's is still as good as I remember. I appreciate that they use peanut oil for all their fried goodies =D and comes out pipping HOT... let it cool before you devour it ... Of course things are bit more pricier... But staff is friendly, great service, and fish and chips are great. I LOVE that their chips are crunchy and not soggy from the oil they bathed in. The fish was moist and flaky and delish. Can't go wrong here... I'll be back for Guinness ;p

service was efficient and the other patrons were very friendly. it was very small town feeling and i loved it. the food is cheap and they give you lots of it. we got the combo platter with a little bit of everything, an extra fish and some fried zucchini. it was the perfect amount of food, the batter was tasty which gave it a nice flavor and everything seemed fresh. definitely going to this place again next time i want fish and chips

I remember my dad taking me here when I was lil and now he takes my son right after school for his fix for fish and chips. This place has been here for as long as I can remember...20 plus years...that says a lot. I love how they have added fried mushrooms and sweet potato fries. The girls behind the counter are always great and I like how they always remember my son when he comes in. If your looking for something healthy this is not the place for you. Hello...its a fish and chip shop...the brits are not known for healthy. Good example they do fry candy bars...but only if you ask. Pretty much anything on the menu you order is good. My son's fave is the half portion cuz I won't let him have the full order of fish and chips...lol! So if your the type that complains about fry foods being oily or your on a diet and you wished they had something healthy on the menu...maybe this is not the spot for you. There is a health food store next door...oh sorry that closed down!

I have bee here a couple of times. The inside of the restaurant is cool, it defiantly has an English pub feel. The prices are good, I believe everything is $8.20-8.75. The employees were very friendly. It did take us a while to get our food but it was relatively busy so I assume that is why we had to wait a bit. I have gotten the fish and chips twice, neither time I was that impress. They were ok, they filled my craving but weren't anything special. On the other hand the crab cakes are delicious! They are perfectly breaded and fried. So tasty! I would go back here just for the crab cakes! If you are looking for great fish and chips this isn't your place but if you want to go some where with a good atmosphere, good prices, decent food and beer then I would recommend this place.

Good for what they do but their menu is limited to only fried meat and chips (which they do well). They do not have clam chowder or shrimp, which means I will probably not come back unless I am specfically craving only fish and chips.

Cash only. The interior has a dive-y sort of pub feel. I liked it since it fits the type of food that the restaurant serves. You walk in and you order at the register. If there's a seat available, you can sit; otherwise, you have to get to-go (or hope that someone else leaves during the time that you're waiting for your food). The wait for food is VERY long, but the lone server was polite and apologetic so it was okay. I loooved the fried fish. The fish was actually nice and tender inside of the hot, fried batter. French fries were okay. The sweet potato fries were dry and the regular fries could have been crispier. The deep fried oyster is very oyster-y. The deep fried shrimp is very tasty although a little dry. The deep fried scallop isn't worth paying for imho since you really lose the essence of a scallop as a result of frying it. I was curious about the deep fried Mars bar, but after the excess amount of fried food, I couldn't muster the desire to order one. Maybe next time!

Camelot has by far become my favorite place for fish and chips! The overall texture (a crispy outside and moist, juicy inside) of the food topped with their malt vinegar is what keeps me coming back for more. It's as if each bite of fish in itself had inhaled an entire ocean! In addition to the food, the scheme of the room seems to always help me get into the mood for fish and chips and a glass of beer. Walking into the restaurant is almost like walking into a bubble where when you're with fish and chips, the world doesn't matter. The staff is friendly and helpful, prices are reasonable, the decor is appealing, and the food and alcohol are really good! For the reasonable price of ~$9 and a little bit of patience (the place can get busy), you too can know what it's like to bite into fish that have inhaled an entire ocean! What are you waiting for?

This is my second fish and chip binge this week! I just need my fixed one more time before i go cold turkey. Camelot Fish & Chips is one of those place that are consistent with their product. The 2 piece with those great thick chips are the ones i perfer and goes nicely with malt vinegar!! Even though we had 4 orders Togo, the fish was still crispy and the fries decent after it was wrapped in the traditional newspaper. No, the fish didn't stick to the second food wrap nether. Very nicely fried and thick pieces of white fish. Good size portion of chips also, not greasy. Good service and a short 10-15 minutes wait for the order during lunch (if you get there early!!).

My coworkers told me about how good their fish n chips were so I gave it a try. I ordered a half meal instead of the full meal. Half mean comes with 1 piece of fish and whole lotta fries. The piece of fish was pretty big and very delicious. I actually got full off this meal cuz of the large amount of fries they give u. If you like mars bars u should definitely try the fried one! I've never had a mars bar until this day when I tried the fried one. It was weird the first bite but u start to enjoy it more afterwards. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone of my friends!

For those of us who depend on plastic to get us places BEWARE! This place is CASH ONLY! But don't fret, there is a Bank of America ATM across the street. Beside the lack of credit/debit accepting technology, I LOVE this place! The fish is delicious, the shrimp is even better! And OMG the hush puppies are to die for! Every time I bring people here for the first time, they LOVE the beer mixes (Black & Tan is the most popular = Guinness+Bass). I love the decor inside, but it is so small and eerily quiet. I prefer to take my food to go :)

  • Angelique F.

Camelot is, hands-down, the best fish and chips on the coastside. The fish is hand-battered and is light and not too greasy. Orders are paired with just the right amount of fries, which drink up just the right amount of vinegar, ketchup or tartar sauce. There's a nice selection of beers and pub drinks. Camelot even beats the fare at Barbara's Fish Trap (although Barbara's has a nicer view) and is more moderately priced, too (Sam's and HMB Brewery don't even compare). Not a great place for a large group, as seating is limited. Zucchini fingers and calamari rings are nicely choices, too. Note: Cash only, but there's some brand of ATM right next door or a BofA ATM in the shopping center directly across the street.

If fried food is your thing then this is the place in Pacifica. Fairly large portions and a pretty decent selection of beer on tap for the size of the restaurant. I had a 1066 Pale Ale that was very fresh. I thought the wait was a bit long for the food, seeing as it's just drop it in the frier. But, it was piping hot when it was served so I changed my mind on that and decided it was on. Plus some time to enjoy the tasty barley pop. Downside is its a bit pricy I thought. Ten dollars for a basket of fish and chips. I probably won't go here again but it was still good and shouldn't detract from trying it out at least once

We usually go here when we are in the mood for their fish and chips or for the camelot. We've had it to go which sometimes isn't as good as when we eat the food there. today we ate our food their. I had the fish and chips and my honey had the camelot. And I can definitely say it was Delicious! Yes its greasy but it it GOOD! When we got our food it was still hot, fresh off the deep fryer. Service is great there. I would come back here any time when in the mood for fish and chips. (Oh and the other thing is CASH ONLY.)

It's been a few years but I decided to try this place again. Food was better but nothing fantastic. Fish and chips didn't seem as oily as they used to be. Clam strips were also better, not overcooked like I used to get from here years ago. Staff was nice and friendly too.

As children we form notions of England with dreams of princesses, red busses, and a certain bridge. Well as an adult, Camelot has swiftly changed those fairytales to ones including Fish & Chips and beer cocktails. Also, something about eating seafood in a beachy, old shopping center where you can gaze out onto the water as you come and go makes Camelot extra special. The silly English artwork and wood-covered pub setting complete your visual experience and don't disappoint us ever. As for service, the pretty young lady is the only person I've ever seen working the front and she hurries around tending to everyone efficiently. I think she's even starting to think of us as regulars even though we live 45 minutes away because we love to stop for a bite at some point during every trip to San Francisco. I think it's also calming having ample parking and a relaxed ambiance before entering city chaos. The most important I suppose are the food and beverage, which fills every fried or seafood fantasy. The variety platter is a favorite unless we're not rabidly hungry, in which case a half portion of fish and chips suits us wonderfully. The batter is the soft, flaky, and moist coating that sort of pulls apart to reveal the smoking hot, meaty interior. The clams and oysters are also exceptional because of their strong flavors, which don't get lost in the batter. In addition, the fries are thick and juicy enough, but not the whole potato. They've won some awards for these which are displayed by the front counter. Beer cocktails top off every visit as we are trying to taste them all and anything mixed with Guinness is undoubtedly amazing. So what we are saying is "Gooooo!" Whether you can afford real trips across the pond to get Fish & Chips in it's homeland or not, Camelot will either create dreams of a faraway place or bring back fond memories of trips past.

I came here recently with a friend and it's not bad. I usually just get the fish n' chips but reading a couple reviews has inspired me to order the crab cakes next time I go! I tried the fried calamari once and wasn't a huge fan, but I'm kinda picky when it comes to calamari so it's no big deal. So during my last experience I ordered the fish n' chips and although they were OK, they were nothing compared to what I had in London. I think what sort of disappointed me was their malt vinegar because it wasn't very strong. I didn't really like their tarter sauce either, but the fries were good. I also ordered a beer (Harp) and I really liked their selection. It took awhile to get my food, but I wasn't really in a rush and it seems like that's just how they roll. They like to take their time to get it right. The wait might suck when they are busy though, so I won't go Friday's during lent. Food- 3 stars They seem to have gone out of their way to make the atmosphere as authentic as possible, and have done a good job. I'll give it an extra star for this reason. It is a cool place to go and I look forward to trying those crab cakes next time!!!!

Usually eat here once or twice a year, but this last visit was a bit disappointing. This is how it went down... I called in my take out order at 6pm and was told that it would be 20 to 25 minutes before it was ready. I arrived at 6:30pm, paid for my order and was told to wait. An additional 25 minutes passed before my order was finally ready. During that time, 2 other patrons arrived after me and were served before me. While the shrimp, fish and chips were excellent as usual, I was extremely disappointed with the service. Hope this was an isolated incident.

It's super close to my house, the food is good, i like the atmosphere, BUT it's cash only--and i usually only have enough cash to buy lunch at work. I've been going to this place ever since I was little and I was never a big fan of fish but as I got older, I, of course, came to love fish. Fish and chips here is good with malt and vinegar. Onion rings are crispy and delicious. I also love their hush puppies! This is one of those places where I can just eat and eat and eat. I usually get my food to go but the downside is that it gets soggy in their newspaper wrappers and the batter sticks to the paper. Surprisingly, I've never tried their ale yet. Probably because it's been a childhood place for me. But now that I'm a grown girl, bring on the Snakebites!!!! Def dining in and drinking the next time I'm there.

This place actually has a British pub feel to it. This isn't one of those fast food chains that didn't even bother spending more than a couple hundred dollars on paint and a few table cloths.

I've been here 3 times so far. Great place for fried fish and British Ales. The chips are "eh" but whatever I hate English Chips anyway. Based on fried fish joints in a 70 miles radius from my home this is the best one. My only regret is that they are not open on Sunday.

I saw this place mentioned on a local TV show and made a mental note to try it next time my family came down to the beach. So glad we tried it. As a lot of people said.."huge portions" is very acurate. 3 of us had fish while my daughter had the clams and we were all happy. It was not crowded yet at the time we went BUT I could easily see how seating could be a small issue. Service was fast and friendly. The place was very clean and we loved the attmosphere. Camelot - You ate perfect, don't ever change!!

Love this little spot for Fish and Chips in foggy Pacifica. Well, at least the night I went it was foggy and how appropriate since Fish and Chips and Fog are a perfect mix. After All, those are 2 of the things that makes London famous. I was already looking forward to trying this place because my friend recommended it and then when I checked out their website, the atmosphere looked like my kinda spot and the fish and chips looked really, really good. Ordered the Camelot and was stuffed at the end of the meal. Quite possibly the best Fish and Chips I have had in my life. I'm actually pretty sure they were. I don't remember having Fish and Chips better than this. In fact, I usually am very disappointed at most Fish and Chips I have eaten in the past. $10.75 gets you plenty of chips, then 1 piece Fish, some shrimp, some scallops, some oysters. They also have a lot of Guiness mixed beers that they highlight. I had the "Black Anchor" which is a mix of Guiness and Anchor Steam. The only 2 things about this place are that it is small. If only it were a bit bigger. Also, they close at 8pm. This is a place I would surely want to hang out for a bit longer. You literally feel like you are in a small little London Pub. And the other thing is that they do Fry your order fresh and it seems to take longer than most other "Fish and Chip" type of joints. It wasn't really too crowded when we went but I'd say the order took at least 10 mins or so. But I don't mind if the end product is so KICK ASS.

The fish and chips are great and this place would have gotten a 4 stars at least if it weren't for the crap service. I came in on a weekday for dinner and there was only one other table so it wasn't very busy. Just seemed like the waitress didn't want to give me and my friend the time of day. Perhaps she was just having a bad day, so if you don't mind slight bad service the food is definitely worth the visit!

Yum! For some reason I don't remember liking it the first time I went, but I gave it a second chance and it was so good!! Service is slow and the place is kinda grimy and small, but worth it anyway. I've never had anything but fish n chips and was not disappointed.

My wife and I were looking for a good fish & chip joint and after reading some of the reviews; we wanted to try this place out. Ambiance was ok.. pictures provided here pretty much sums up the place. Don't forget to bring cash, they dont take any kind of cards; which is freakin weird in this day & age. They do have an ATM across the street just in case. The service here was bad; there was a chubby girl at the cashier who kept forgetting our order... other people who came before us got their order first... and the food was just ok... it served no justice at all considering the service... Fish wasnt all that fresh and the batter used was kinda bland... the chips are no better then what you can probably make at home... I would not go back to this place for any reason... I find it so strange how this place get 4 stars... I would give it 2 stars but since the service was so bad I give it a 1 star... Bad experience all around... I found Barbara's Fish Trap to be far superior and if you want to spend a little more money, try Moss Beach Distillery, excellente!!!; both are located in Half Moon Bay and definitely worth the extra drive.... but if your looking for "filler food" then you can come to Camelot...

First off, I'm surprised that this place isn't on YELP already. Anyways, on my lunch break my co-worker asked if I liked fish and chips and of course I replied with a huge HELL YEAH! We walk into the establishment and this place is pretty small. Although, the F&C punches big flavor and a huge crunch, the chips were nice size and plenty of. I must say, our waitress was HELLA CUTE! Blond and the nose piercing that she had added to her cuteness. I should have tried to get her number, but I shy up at times. I guess that gives me reason to return, huh? Five Trans Fat Stars out of Five.

Cute fish and chips spot in Pacifica. The bf was hungry and I came along for the ride...he ordered the Camelot, which was basically a combo with fish, scallops, clams, shrimps and chips. I got the mushrooms. Your order takes awhile as I believe they fry by the order, so we found a table and chit chatted while waiting for our food..it took about 10 mins. Alot of peeps were in there ordering to go and it does take awhile for your food to come out. Luckily they have cute UK themed pictures, trinkets and books all over the walls to keep you entertained. The bf thoroughly polished off his food..my mushrooms were nice and tasty.. Cool spot to get your fish and chips fix in Pacifica!

Despite the fact that this restaurant takes cash only, my experience was above average. The texture of the fish was perfect and the chips were decent as well (I kind of wished I had a beer with the meal because I hear from other customers that the fish and chips go hand in hand with beer. Surprisingly, the prices are about the same as you would find at Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco. Definitely coming back to this place.

The Good: these are the best fish & chips you'll ever have. The Bad: you're gonna wait a long time for them. Seriously, it's a good thing the food here is so delicious or I would never go back. I think it took a half hour for them to cook up two fish & chips orders. I know they make one batch at a time, but...COME ON. I think the best way to get around this system is to call in an order and pick it up rather than ordering & eating in the restaurant. I'll try this next time. But anyway, a half order is more than enough for me. A whole order is good if you're ravenous. Camelot uses a family recipe (from the British grandmother of one of my close friends!) and you can tell. There's no fast-food grossness, just delicious fish smothered in malt vinegar. Mmmm. :)

I'll give Camelot 3 stars +.. although we don;t have pluses to post now do we?! Sometimes it can be a little greasy but it' always been good! Wrapped in newspaper, vinegar if desired, yum. Great fries too.. not crispy but they are good! You can get 1/2 & 1/2 orders if you like. Fried clams are one of my favorites. Not that comfortable or nice to sit in and eat.. I mean it is ok but in my opinion, not overly comfortable. I usually get take out anyway! People are saying they don;t take credit cards but I do believe I have used one in the past. Maybe they stopped because of the fees??

Maybe its nostalgia or maybe its just that good but I love this place. My parents took me here when I was a kid; I returned the favor with my kids and will continue to do so on my own. I wish their hours were a little longer but I guess its better they are not open later or I would be stumbling in after drinks and further deteriorating my body. But hmmmm it would be sooo good!

This place is a bit scruffy...located in a completely unremarkable little strip mall atop a foggy (typically) hill in Pacifica...but don't let the humble exterior fool you, this place delivers on a superb "fry up". Hang out and listen to the juke, chat with the friendly crew/locals or collect your grub and some beers and head to the ocean like we did...you cannot go wrong! They'll package it all up, including extra malt vinegar/ketchup/lemon and have you on your way in no time! Don't forget the hooch...they have a great selection of brews to choose from.. Bodddington's, Newcastle, Guinness, Bass as well as the usual suspects (Bud/Heiniken/MGD) We ordered the whole gamut... fish and chips, fried shrimp, clams and even some chicken for the landlubber who won't consume seafood (WTH?) Long story short, we were wow'd!! Wow'd by the hot out of the fryer, perfectly breaded fish, shrimp and chicken! The fish was just perfect...tender, flaky white fish in a panko batter...the fries were dense...crispy on the outside and soft in the middle...same for the shrimp which tasted super fresh! In fact it all seemed fresh, none of it seemed frozen or "Gorton's Fisherman-like" if you catch my drift (and I think you do!) Honorable mention for Camelot's cole slaw which was creamy dreamy and not overrun with mayo. I must say, Camelot is in a league all it's own! Quite frankly, the lack of worthwhile fish and chips places 'round here is bollocks (Ok, I didn't say that, my friend did, but he makes a good point!) In London you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a great spot for fish and chips. Perhaps Bay Area residents are too hoity-toity or ....bulimic/health obsessed to enjoy the occasional tryst with a pint and totally scrum fish and chips? Hmmmm.... ?!?! Ahoy mateys...get your booty over to Camelot's Fish and Chips!!! Just remember to bring CA$H...Camelot doesn't accept credit cards (or stolen treasure) in exchange for their grub!

Their latest incarnation has a brick front. Guess they are tired of having people trying to turn their restaurant into a drive-thru. That said, l have to say i like the new decor. Food remains very good. Basic fried seafood that's pretty much always done just right. My go-to place for fish & chips ... too bad it's a bit far away for me.

After working out at 24 Hour Fitness, I wanted to find a place to eat. When browsing the Yelp app on my iPhone, I found Camelot Fish & Chips. I ordered the combo with 1 fish and 4 shrimp. It may take at least 10 min to have your order ready. But everything is made to order, so I guess it's worth the wait. The inside of the place is small and a few table to eat on. When you have you order placed to go, they wrap your food in newspaper, like back in England. I liked how the fish is coated perfectly and the shrimp has more of a breaded coating, but it still good and crispy. The "chips" are really thick potatoes that are freshly cut. Service is ok. I would give this place another chance.

If you're in the mood for fish and chips, it's good. Just don't expect outstanding (or you'll be disappointed). Best thing is the decor. It's kind of like that section of a large "Antique" dealership (that really is just a bunch of little booths of random people's castaways) that has every kitschy thing of British memorabilia dating back to 1957. And they do actually wrap take-away meals in newspaper... just like they're supposed to. Prices are reasonable, too--and portions are HUGE.

I love this place! The staff are friendly, and the food is amazing! They only take cash, but if you have Bank of America, there's an ATM very close by, so its ok. It isn't instant food, since so many people call for take-out, but its worth the wait. None of the food is greasy (something I thought was impossible for fried food before coming here), and its nice and hot when you get it. They also have good hot tea (which is what I get), as well as a good selection of beers. Never had a beer or ale they have? Ask to try it, and you'll get a little sample cup of it. I also suggest trying their deeserts. They may sound strange (fried Mars bar is one of them), but they are excellent!

A more legitimate version of a fish and chips place then most in the Bay Area... The fried sea creatures, most assuredly of the Mrs Friday's variety, we're tasty... The chips were mushy, though...

My family use to own a store like literally a block away from here. I remember as a kid I would walk down to Camelot to get my Fish n Chip Dinner! ITS AWESOME! The portions are great 2 BIG pieces of fish and some good chips! Everything is great here I love the Fish n Chips! I never tried anything else on the menu so I assume its good as well! The place is kind of small but its cozy. Sometimes I come down here with my family for old time sake. The people here are super friendly too!

How is it I have lived in this area for almost three decades and didn't know about Camelot? It took a friend that lives in Davis to let me know I needed to try this place. I finally made my way there and it will be the first trip of many - great fish and chips. Non-greasy, flavorful, two big pieces of fish and thick fries - so good! Cute little place with limited seating about two blocks from the beach. It's a cash only place but there's an ATM right outside the restaurant and a B of A ATM right across the street. Yum.

more like a 3.5 We enjoyed an early dinner here (not a lot of folks). Portions were big (if you have a small appetite like I do, the half order will do you just fine). You could tell that the food was freshly fried in clean oil as it came out piping hot and crispy without that "stale oil taste". Now, the service of food took longer than I expected, but I think that is a good thing b/c it shows that they take pride in their food. It's worth the wait. Given that it's a fried food joint, it smelled very fresh in the restaurant, and I REALLY appreciate that. FOOD... I got the 1/2 order of fish and chips. It was great. I liked the fish so much and the chips were good too. It wasn't too greasy although I think the chips can be more crispy, but they are still very good. Chris got the Camelot which is an extravagant amount of food (3 oysters, 3 scallops, 3 shrimp, and 1 fish fillet... or something like that). The oysters were so good. I just loved it and I'm of the school of thought that the only oysters worthy to be eaten are those that never touch heat and are still safe to eat. I was surprised how delicious it was. Scallops were just OK and the breaded shrimp were above average. We ordered some hush puppies which were so good. Will visit again... maybe for Lent, which I've heard gets really busy on Lenten Fridays.

The one and only time my wife and I went here it was nearly empty and we should have taken the hint. It smelled greasy and the fish, while plentiful, thick and juicy and good was surrounded by a batter that had unfortunately had met an untimely death at the hands of old oil Monster. It had put up a galant struggle: "Maybe it was supposed to taste this way?" but ultimately it failed to save the fair maiden fish that it was supposed to enhance. The Malt vinegar was the only assist that we could find that helped the flavor but it was more like rip the batter off and eat the fish. The fries too were not particularly fresh or ones that we even cared to finish as we love plank-style fries. Thanks BE that the prices were at least on the cheaper side. So, with all THAT going on, in a dark and rather depressing atmosphere, with waitresses who were very much not interested in doing more than writing down the order, I can't say that I would consider going there again. I KNOW this place has gotten good reviews but the one key time I went, it was "Not so much..."

My review unfortunately is only based on this restaurants service as my boyfriend and I didn't get a chance to actually eat! We were doing some shopping and we saw Camelot's Fish n Chips, as we are both big lovers of great fish n chips and we were officially starving we decided to check out their menu. Of course on the walk over from the parking lot I quickly checked their reviews. Reviews were solid, menu looked perfect, place was packed (which is always a great sign), there was a bar! (made his day to think he was about to enjoy a beer and great food all at one little local spot), and I thought it was just a really cute place in general. As we walked in we weren't quite sure wether we needed to wait to be seated as there was no sign, naturally we assumed the waitress would greet us or at the very least acknowledge us... Nope we stood in the doorway looking lost and confused as the waitress laughed and chatted away on her cell phone. After a good 5 minutes standing their like idiots we decided to sit at the LAST and ONLY table. Smiling and excited seeing people eat what looked to be absoluetly delicious dinner we once again patiently waited to be greeted, Given a menu, anything! About 5 minutes later the waitress finally came up to us and with the most unnecessary attitude said "you need to get up, and order at the bar". That was a bit irritating but whatever, we were quite famished at this point... We get up and start looking at the menu and half a second after getting up a few people walked in and sat down right at our table!!! AWESOME! Guess what? She greeted them! Lol I can laugh about it now cause I just had a great meal at London's. However it was a horrible experience. After greeting the guests that totally knowingly took our table the waitress finally asks us "Soo like do you know what you want?" YES BITCH I DO, I WANT TO LEAVE... Being a classy young lady that is just what crossed my mind. My bf and I looked at each other and seeing the anger in his eyes he didn't have to say a word- we turned around and left. Im not one to complain or write bad reviews as I am known to be a bit bitchy myself, but this was just ridiculous and I really had to vent. plus i'm pretty disappointed because I was looking forward to trying this place... Maybe next time. But the London's girl definitely deserved her $10 tip!

Place is perfect for a happy hour fish & beer. Comfy and nice people there. Food is great. Just don't give them 5 stars for not taking credit cards (cash only) and for not opening on Sundays. TIP: call before and avoid long order waiting in case they are crowed, and usually they are...

I'm definitely not a fried food enthusiast, but I give Camelot's FIVE stars. Yes, FIVE stars! Best fish-n-chips in the Bay Area! Even though the restaurant is undersized, the environment is very welcoming with walls surrounded with original and creative signs and images promoting alcohol. You obtain the feeling you're in an English Pub. The employees are exceedingly friendly and welcoming. Their smiles are contagious! In regards to their choices and the food, their menu is simple and the food if ARTERY CLOGGING GOOD. What to choose on the menu? Choose anything! Just make sure to order a beer along with your meal and to soak that fish in vinegar or tarter sauce. Many of my friends, family, and coworkers love and enjoy their visit to Camelot's either dining in or taking it to go wrapped in newspaper. If you're craving some fish n chips, don't go to your local popular American restaurant. Instead, visit CAMELOT'S where each visit is ARTERY CLOGGING GOOD. Warning: Watch out for elderly drivers especially when they attempt to reverse their car. Camelot's, visitors, and residents have been harmed by these deadly reversing elderly. Haha!

Gor blimey guv'nor! It's like being in Old London Town on Boxing Day in the fog on a rainy Tuesday - NOT! The staff are WAY too polite to be authentic. Plus in a real British fish 'n' chip shop, there should be a gang of hooded teenagers outside ready to beat the snot out of me for looking at them funny! Excellent food though, which is the important thing! Jolly good!

This place serves up the best fish and chips I've ever had. I tried the Camelot once but I didn't enjoy the scallops and oysters that come with it as much as I enjoy the fish. The fish as a great, thick, crispy batter with a deep golden color. They can have slowish service some times but it isn't bad. Usually about 20 minutes from ordering to eating but can be as much as 30 or as little as 10. They do a lot of take out business but it just isn't as good if you take it home. The fried batter starts to get soggy, even with the paper wrapping. And the take out tarter sauce is a different brand than the stuff you get at the restaurant. The take out tarter sauce is watery and just gross. Buy your own tarter sauce at the store if you are going to do take home. NOTE: If you walk in 15 minutes before closing (8pm) it is take out only. If you walk in at 8:01, they will not serve you.

If you've never been to this place yet, you've never had fish and chips. Homegirl brought me here when I was craving for something that's fried. I was in fried goodness heaven. Everything was on the dot. The fish. The oysters. The jalapenos. The design. The everything. Portions were huge enough to share - if you'd like. Conveniently located to the beach - to take a nice breather. Next time you're here, don't foget to ask for some COCK and BULL. ; )

Thing we tried: Fish: Excellent Chips: Very good Chicken: Very Good Jalapeno Poppers: Very good Hush puppies: Very Good I would say that the group I went with was completely satisfied with every item we ordered. The start of the show was definitely the fish. Perfectly crisp and not oily at all. Tartar sauce was great but not necessary. All other items we got were very good. Next time I'll definitely get the combo platter with a variety of fried seafood items. Probably also get one of the four beers they had on tap. Only downside to this place is the size. Very small and depending on the time you go, it may be difficult to get a seat. Also, because of the size, you are probably going to leave the place smelling like the food you just ate.

Good beer selection and mixed beer drinks are good. The fish is ok. I wouldn't say that their fish and chips are amazing, but they do hit the spot when you want some fried food. The crab cakes are really good, but not very filling. I haven't been able to find a really good fish and chips place in this area, so I usually just come here when I have the craving.

  • Eirich M.

Excellent and authentic fish and chips. However, I don't quite understand why they don't have any malt vinegar for take out orders. They do sprinkle some malt vinegar on your order but you're s.o.l. if you want it on the side for take out.

  • Bryan P.

If you go here, order the oysters & chips. Let it cool for a few minutes though because they are so hot off the deep fryer that you will burn the roof of your mouth and you'll have a sore spot and a piece of dangling burnt skin hanging there for a few days. But I guess its worth it. I only tried the fish the first time I went there, and its good too, but they use pollack or something not local. They make the food after you order so you have to wait a while, especially if you're ordering for several people. So its better to call ahead and place your order and just pick it up 15 minutes later. There arent too many places to sit and wait if there are others waiting or if its around dinnertime and theres a bunch of people eating there. BTW, the imported English beer is stale.

Needless to say, I have this (and any other dining establishment that I've rated at 3 stars or more) number in my cell phone. Now, as far as I know, there are two "kinds" of fish and chips. There's the fried, soul food variety found at say Las Palmas in East Oakland (where you can choose what kind of fish you want) or Wilma's Catfish House in Emeryville, and there's the "London-style" (or whatever the politically correct term is) fish and chips available here at Camelot. The pros: - when you get the jones, nothing quite delivers a good dose of grease and potential heart attack in such a tasty form as an order of these fish and chips, soaked in vinegar with a healthy fistful of salt on top. Small family-owned and operated business, a community fixture. The cons: - WHAT kind of fish is used here??? It tastes previously frozen, and it's usually a tad on the dry side and lacks any flavor. They are, however, sizeable pieces once covered with batter. My friend swears it's shark. It seems a bit cod-ish to me, but I just can't put a finger on it. Nonetheless, with all the fresh seafood available in the area, you'd think that a place that serves fish and chips would use fresh (unfrozen) fish. At $8.20 plus tax per order. How much could two pieces of fish and a potato really cost now, I ask you. - ANYTHING ELSE and chips: I'm not 100% positive, but me thinks the prawns, oysters, chicken and anything else you order here is frozen/pre-breaded, and comes in massive bags from the distributor. Hey, can't I just buy that at Safeway or Lucky's? How about FRESH, people? Once again, no shortage of fresh and affordable seafood in our area. It'd be different if this was a burger house serving the occasional fried seafood/chips combo plate, but considering that this place is a one-trick pony, you'd expect just a little more. Which is why I only visit once or twice a year.

used to get just the chips and a soda here for my lunch back in 1989 when I was a broke kid working at the comic book store across the St, still has the best fish and chips by far that I've had outside of London. If your craving authentic British fish and chips, this is the Only place to go.

Popular local cash only joint just a block from ocean. Small but worth visiting. Food is served hot and very tasty. The hush puppies are excellent, as is the fish and chips. Tastes very authentic and not greasy. I look forward to my next visit.

Best Fish-n-Chips in the bay. Thats saying alot, i love the small hole in the wall, ma & pa set up, the location is just right by the free way, and the food is well prepared.

I've eating here since I was a wee little one! The fish is yummy and crunchy - though I do miss the old batter a little bit. If you want crunchy chips, you will have to ask for them well done. These are fresh cut fries so they are on the softer side. I usually get a half order of fish and chips cuz a whole order is a bit much, but I'm not a huge eater. My mom always got the shrimp and chips, and my brother would get the chicken and chips. Both are good, but don't hold a candle to the fish. A couple of tips: - They are cash only! There is an atm across the street or a Safeway up the street a bit - You will need to "beg" for extra tartar sauce, but they will give it to you - Avoid Fridays during Lent cuz they will be crazy - You can totally order it over the phone and pick it up, but the wrapping ( wax paper and newspaper) means that the crunch goes away a bit by the time you get it home. - They are on Pacifica closing time meaning that they stop taking orders at 730 and close at 8. I think they were trying to get some live entertainment but I haven't experienced that. - The place is small but has a great "pubby" feel. They have a bunch of British beers and candies. If you like Cadbury mini-eggs at Easter, you have to try Flake! I like to order fish and chips when I go out, but I am always disappointed because they can't come close to Camelot's!

I have been a customer for about ten years now. I absolutely love the standard fish and chips, the wife goes for the "Camelot", which is a combination of seafood prepared similar to the fish. The chips are excellent and meaty. Not some thin sliced potato sticks. They are man sized and they are not shy with the portion. If you like side dishes, try their Jalapeno Poppers or their Hush Puppies. I have to say they rank right up there with any that I have tried. One thing I should mention is that they recently changed their fish. They went from a long straight thick portion of fish, to a more triangle shaped fillet/steak. It is still good, but I think i miss the familiar original portion of fish. This is why they get four stars, instead of five. With that said, the breading and oil combination remain very good and a delight every time I have it. Tidbits: #1 Eat there the first time. There is nothing like freshly fried fish 'n chips. #2 If you do eat there, try having the fish salted with vinegar. Makes for a great savory/sour taste that is perfect with the fish. #3 If you take it to go, they wrap your order tightly packed in wax and newspaper to keep it warm, however, this tends to soften the crust if left in the wrapper too long so DO NOT have them put vinegar on it as this creates soggy crust. #4 If you go on a Friday during Lent, call ahead for pickup. You can wait as much as 45min otherwise.

um, yum? Camelot is a gem in Pacifica (actually Pacifica has a lot of gems). The food is made fresh and delicious, the service is amazing and the restaurant is cute with a VERY authentic british feel... Last time my parents came into town (I live in SF) I just HAD to make the trek to Pacifica and bring them here, and they were not disappointed.

  • William G.

I do not understand all the praise. The fish wasn't fresh, the batter was leaden and the fries were soggy and uncooked in the center. This is without a doubt the worst fish & chips I have ever eaten - and that includes Heathrow. The decor came out of a "Make a Pub" kit. If there were no stars that would be my pick. Run away! Run away!

I always order the Camelot. Great English pub type food. Good beer. I wish it was bigger. It can be hard to find seats.

I am a man who spent 11 years in the British commonwealth. I loved the venue and its great selection of British beers and ales. The food is good and lots of it. The staff is really friendly! It was like being back in London or Sydney.

My parent's first took me here years ago. Turns out they used to eat here when THEY were dating... gnarly. It's fair to say that every time I pass through Pacifica, I always have to stop into Camelot for some fish and chips, and I haven't been anywhere that does it better, granted I've yet to leave the country for the real deal. The fish is super tasty, especially with tartar and plenty of malt vinegar. Wash all that fried goodness down with a tasty bottled Guinness, or a spicy ginger beer if you're underage. The last time I did go, I will admit my chips were a tad soggy, but it didn't bother me too much. It's also a place almost requiring dine-in service; fish and chips isn't something you want to have sit in your car before you enjoy. So take the time and snag a table. Great cheap eats, not for those on a diet. Camelot... don't ever close!

  • Du D.

To some of the reviewers: Are we even writing about the same place???? Seriously, I thought this place was great. They were really friendly to me and the food was terrific. Big, hot crispy hunks of fish that were succulent on the inside. The fries were also crispy and.. potatoe-y. The beers cold, smooth and bold. Maybe I came on a good day... Although I would recommend eating there instead of taking it home.

Without a doubt the finest fish and chips I've eaten! I haven't been to Cook's since discovering Camelot several months ago. Worth the drive! You will not be sorry.

I got the chicken n' chips ok. Fries pretty boring. My bf got fish n' chips he said it was ok it use to be better he says. Oh yea it's only cash only places need to step up their game with that because c'mon people carry credit card/debit.

The best fish and chips around. Fried clams and shrimp are also excellent, I've learned it's best to call ahead, they get really busy some nights. Not really feelin the packets of tartar sauce, but the malt vinegar is so effin good. One of these days, i'm gonna eat in and try a fried Mars bar.

To quote the infamous Salt n' Pepa: Say, say (Ooh) Say, ooh Say, say (Ooh) Say, ooh Dee J: Yeah, what's up baby Camelot: Oh, I'm chillin' Dee J: You know, you got me thinkin' about you right Camelot: Right Dee J: Word up, I wanna see you, what's up Camelot's food is really good. I just stopped by yesterday for a little treat and they were closed. I guess when that little old lady drove her car through the front of the store, the employees realized they could be spending their Sundays at church rather than serving up beer battered fish.

  • L. R.

I like this place, but the cash only policy has to go. I'm sure they have their reasons, but come on. Food is good, love the fries!!! The waiters are always nice. Sometimes I think it is a little pricey, but they are just a small business so they've gotta get by. Parking is okay.

Fish and Chips (and similar items). Not rocket science. it is fried fish....and french fries. That being said, I like this place for what it is, a quaint little British pub in Pacifica. The food is on par with fish and chips you would get in a pub in England (or anywhere else for that matter). The beer selections are limited but you can get Guinness (if you are into that kind of thing). The decore it British-Kitsch. Small, intimate, not terrible busy much of the time because people don't really know about it. Service is fine, staff not terribly chatty, but totally worth checking out if you want some fried seafood and a beer.

No ice or fountain drinks!! N cash only! I do like how they offered a few good beers on tap n a selection in bottles. This place is very small!! I was really disappointed with the lack of fountain drinks n ice. I mean no ice at all. It was a really hot day, man! This place is really close to the beach so it's nice to walk there after a good meal. Not far from the Zoo. Food was okay but you pay for the "authentic" fish and chips.

This place has the best fish and chips in the SF/Peninsula area. Beer batter is perfect. Fish is flakey and fresh and where else can you substitute scallops for one of your fish pieces. I loved my scallops fish and chips. tables are stocked with the usual goodies like malt vinegar. they have guinness, harp, bass and the usual good brewski's. My husband says its as good as the old country:) it is also very cute and publike in side and the service is decent considering how busy they are. enjoy

I was totally excited about this spot when we first moved to Pacifica. I absolutely love fish & chips, and this spot is only a mile or so away from our new pad. As much as I wanted to like it though, I was unimpressed. The fish was greasy and rather bland to be honest, and not very appetizing. I may just give this spot a second try someday, with the hopes that my first experience was a fluke, but until then, the two stars will have to stand. *** UPDATE *** So we went back, and I enjoyed the visit MUCH more this time. I'm upgrading to a 3 star for the time being. I think my fish'n'chips were oddly soggy the first time, but they were nice and crispy this time.

  • Michael N.

Frankly, I'm quite astonished that some people like this place. On one hand, the place has the potential for being quite charming. On a far more important hand, the fish and chips we had there were really quite horrible. My fish seemed like some sort of greasy, battered fish leather and the chips were only useful in distracting me from the awful fish only slightly. I don't know whether I was simply there on a bad day or whether I'd experienced what they typically offer. All I know is that the food was bad enough that I won't be giving them a second chance. Ever.

I was craving fried shrimp so i yelped and this was the closes spot from where i lived, my boyfriend and i decided to go down there and try it, i ordered a combination of chicken and shrimp and i came with fries, and my boyfriend had the fish and chips HANDS DOWN A GREAT SPOT TO EAT food took about 15 min wich is reasonable food came out hot and steamy and the girl that took our order brought our food she was very friendly and asked if we needed any sauces, we will forsure be going back for more. prices are good for the amount they serve.

Was so excited to stop here when my friend moved to Pacifica Fish & Chips are hard to find so I am "pro" any fish and chips establishment However, this particular dive had no particular positives that I can recollect. The menu size was okay and I like the 1/2 and 1/2 option but they close early, the service is mediocre and I'm sure it varys depending on the patron, they don't take credit/debit, and I can't remember what it was but I specifically remember having an issue getting vinegar. Weird. It's kind of hazy, must be that fog. Bottom line, it's good they exist because a fish & chips option is a good option to have, but don't go out of your way. Your local fish and chips place is better. If they are your local fish and chips place........well....sorry

  • Matthew A.

I rarely eat deep fried food, but i must always make an exception for this place. It is the best tasting Fish 'n Chips I ever had. I always make a point to tell all my friends who like fish 'n Chips to check this place out. I usually order a 1/2 portion of the Fish 'n Chips with salt and malt vinegar.

Great fish and chips! Huge portions and not greasy. I suggest getting the half order or sharing a full order. Only downside is that you come out of this place smelling like oil and it's a small place.

Seriously this is another home for me. Camelot is always consistent with what it is that they put out. Since I was little, my order has always been the same: Combination of clams and chips with salt and vinegar. YUM! Just writing this review, I feel like I want to go again. So not a place that you want to share your food, but if you do... at the most, maybe just the chips because there are so many of them! The ambiance definitely makes you feel like you're in England. All the memorabilia is so perfect. And the owners of this place have been the same family since I can remember. Just as a side note, remember that if it'saround the Spring season, that fish literally tends to sell out because of all the people who celebrate Lent and do not eat meat on Fridays. SO go early! It's worth it!

  • Lyn N.

My husband and I were in the area and decided to have a late lunch here yesterday. I haven't been here in years but remember this place to be on hit with the fish and chips and it still is! Fish and Chips are $8.25 which includes 3 good size white fish and super yummy tarter sauce with a nicely savoring batter and yummy big size fries. Their calamari is okay but it wasn't the best b/c it had more batter. The wait for food takes awhile but well worth it when you take your first bite on their dish. Service is great. Our waitress was on top of it. This is a small eatery may be only a restaurant that can accommodate 25 people seated. Plenty of parking. We will return!

As a person originally from England, now living in sunny Pacifica, "Camelot's" had a lot to live up to. However this little Fish & Chip shop made me realise just how terrible the national dish is back in England. I was amazed by the size of the portions (it was just a half order!) The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, encased in a light, crisp and delicious batter. The fries, sorry chips were the perfect size and consistency to compliment the fish. Not only that, but the staff are friendly, engaging and always pleasure to deal with. A must for locals and visitors alike.

  • Alia D.

Hands, feet, arms and all other appendages down the best fish and chips! I had a chance to sample fish and chips from London; ick, just icky there! I have turned many a person onto Camelot's. I usually order to take home and enjoy my half order of requested extra salty goodness on my couch. Oh! Just pass me a Pyramid and lets get this done! To top off my hush puppy heaven they also sell various English chocolates that make my heart sing! One of Pacifica's gems. Kinda sucks that they stop taking phone orders at 7:45. I often crave them late at night. =(

  • Danielle E.

My dad took me here a few months back. He hadn't been in about 10 years. However, he used to frequent this place all the time when he worked for a liquor distribution company. He and his coworkers would stop at Camelot for lunch during their daily trips to the area. I am SO glad he finally took me, because I am in love. Yes, the food is oily-- but its FISH N CHIPS, what do you expect? The fries taste like real potatoes, not Mcdonalds fries. The fish is incredibly fresh as well, just the way it should be. I wish I had the chance to experience true London fish n chips, but Camelot is definitely one step in the right direction! I just wish the place was closer to home for me. =(

  • Jason H.

Best fish in chips around! This is not California cuisine. Its authentic English Fish and Chips, so ya..its a bit greasy but I wouldnt want it any other way. I love the traditional fish and chips, my lady loves the clam strips.

  • Stuart M.

Moved to sacramento from England 6 years ago. Came to the coast for a mini vacation and found this place. This is the best and only authentic tasting fish and chips I've had since I moved here. I could tell from the smell of the place when I walked in that it was going to be good. Crispy, tasty batter, really nice cod and proper chips, not those skinny, bland 'french fries' you get with most fish and chips over here. It is weird they don't take debit/credit cards here but there's an atm right outside. It's obviously a big hassle for some lazy americans to walk ten feet to an atm reading some of the other reviews here but the food is totally worth it. I'll be returning anytime I'm back in the bay area.

  • Matthew W.

I'm probably biased since i've been eating here for so long, but any other place that serves Fish & Chips doesn't even come close in comparison to this place. I always get Shrimp & Chips and a perfectly poured Guinness from here. Unfortunately the prices have gone up through the years, but the great food, nice decor, and friendly service will always keep me coming back.

This is the place to get fish and chips. So crispy and moist fish. The place I would go for authentic England style fish and chips. I reccommend getting the combo meal and change the fries to sweet potato fries ... yummy! Everyone should come here for fish and chips... not greasy at all.

  • Heidi S.

My review really should be 3 stars, but since they have Strongbow (OMG!) and sweet potato fries they get an extra star. Those are really the only two reasons I come to Camelot. The portions are huge, so I usually order a half order and that is perfect. Everything on the menu is good. I really wish they would serve decent tartar sauce. I have a feeling that is too Americanized for them though. One time I heard someone request a deep fried Mars bar (they have a small section of candy). I am curious to try this concoction, but haven't made it there yet. Make sure you bring cash, they don't take cards.

Another must-visit restaurant/place in Pacifica! I tried the fish and chips and the portion was perfect! Loved the size of fish they give you, along with the amount of batter on the fish and the french fries! Really small place, might grab as to-go next time. The jalapeno poppers were good as well!

Sometimes, you just have to give in to the food lust and tell your brain, the part that really wants you to be healthy, to take a rest. That's what we collectively decided to do yesterday. We got there at 11:30 and 2 other parties were already there. The 3 of us each ordered fish and chips, but I also asked for shrimps. As other reviewers said, stick with the fish!! The fish served are all generously portioned and moist. The crust has just the right amount of crunchiness and are seasoned properly. The opposite is true of the shrimps, where the stiff, thick crust overwhelms the crustacean. The fries are serviceable and make for good fillers. It was a good experience all in all.

Worst service I've ever had in a small easily managed resturant. I can't begin to tell you how rude the young blonde that refused to look or speak addressing customers. She literally refused to take our order tonight when all I wanted was two orders of fish n chips. I'm still confused to why? ... She couldn't even communicate enough with us to tell us. Totally weird and awkward experience. We are new to Pacifica and Considering I lived in England for many years id planned on frequenting this spot weekly. We are currently enjoying fish and chips at high tide, and the experience just walking in the door here is a thousand times better. Your fish may be good but your service STINKS

The food is good. They take cash only and BYOL (bring your own lemon!) Lemons would be good with the shrimp and fish.

great place to eat but when it comes to the hours don't believe what you see on yelp they close at 8 but when I called at 6:02 a girl answered and said we just closed to clean the equipment what does that mean so disappointed

Driving by and saw Camelot. Looked at the rating on Yelp. With very good reviews we looked no further. What I don't understand is why 5 stars weren't given on previous reviews. We ordered the fish & chips and the shrimp & chips. I had a beer on tap - they have a great selection for such a small place. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. The place is small and decorated appropriately. I will be back. Thanks for a great lunch.

My boyfriend and I had a late night craving... So we go to this place around 7:30 for calamari and he got the scallops. Gross! As we speak he's trying to throw it up because of how sick he feels. The calamari tasted and felt like eating an eraser and for $10 I got 8 of them and fries. His scallops were filled with oil and didn't taste like scallops. Also... What seafood place doesn't have lemons?!? This one. So disappointed......

After today I'm a huge fan of this place. The seating is quite limited, but the food is really top notch. Had the fish and chips and it was fantastic. Fries are better than In-n-out!! Can't wait to return so I can try some of the other items like fried oyster, fried calamari, and fried shrimp. Not sure if I'll ever try the fried twinky tho!!!

First, CASH only. Second, CASH only. Third, great Fish and Chips! Awesome oysters too. Crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. Chips = best stuff on this side of the Atlantic! They have a bunch of beers, too, so don't worry, if you need a quick pint, they have those. Fourth, service is friendly. They take a while to make the food, but it is so WORTH THE WAIT. Fifth, prices are moderate. Quality for your buck. Sixth, decor is simple, lots of British paraphernalia, clean tables and comfortable bench seating and chairs. Totally a pub! What a great find--support your local shops!

  • Walt N.

Simply really good fish and chips. Cooked to order and piping hot at the table. The breading is perfect on the fish, and the chips don't have a hint of grease. The full order will fill you up. Nice selection of beer to choose from and a definite English Pub atmosphere inside. Daily newspapers from Britain are on hand for you to enjoy while waiting for your food to cook. The servers are always pleasant and the whole atmosphere is a treat for someone who can really appreciate authentic fish and chips. The shrimp, scallops, and oysters are every bit as good as the fish, so you will have some serious choosing to pick out what you like the best. Located in downtown Pacifica. A nice place to stop when traveling on Highway 1 south of San Francisco. No credit cards, so have your cash handy.

  • Rachel A.

This is a no-frills fish and chips place. We came here for dinner one night with friends who live a block away, and it boiled down to good beer, a long wait, and small tables. I can't remember how I felt about the food, which tells you everything you need to know about it. If I lived in Pacifica I might give this place another try when it wasn't so busy, but never again during prime dinner time.

  • Aaron G.

My first try at Camelot was with take-away. Fish and chips just doesn't survive transport well. Being wrapped up for even 10 minutes to drive home just killed the crispiness. The second try was much better. Crispy, flaky fish... nice hot chips. If I had added a beer, it would have been perfect (but I was driving :( ). A clean storefront with charm... a rarity in Pacifica. I'll be back.

Hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had. Their batter is perfect, and cooked to perfection every time. The batter is so good, I had their deep fried mars bar. Small space, great decor, and has great beer on tap.

  • Stephanie W.

Friendly cashier girl/server. The fish and chips (steak fries) are legit and better than some half moon bay concoctions. Oysters are good too. Are you a harry potter fan? Try the butterbeer, buttery(scotch) nonalcoholic soda.

  • Tara Lei T.

Love this place! Everything is great! Would have gotten 5 stars but they wouldn't let me bring food in from another place to eat with my fish & chips. Boooooo! Despite that, I still highly recommend them! =)

  • Tavis I.

I'll start my review with the FACT that this place has NO LEMONS!! How do you serve fish and chips without lemon?? Another flaw, 2014 and yet another place that doesn't take cash. Your food must be pretty good if you aren't going to take a credit/debit card. It really wasn't. My fish was super fried and lacked any real flavor. The fries weren't anything to write home about either. I won't return.

    (1)
  • John H.

Having been in London recently, I can say the batter is a little limp here at Camelot. It appears less so on the oysters, which I would recommend over the fish any day. The fries here also have that burnt oil taste. Kudos for having a few less-seen British beers and ciders to choose from. Cash only :(

    (3)
  • Darshini S.

The service is good and the food is good, what more could you ask for? My mom and I love their shrimp. Usually we will get the combo fish and chicken with chips and shrimp. Yummy!! Only down side is that they are a tad expensive. Didn't care for the vinegar though.

    (5)
  • Leon A.

The fish is good but the chips (fries) are just so-so. If you get you order to go, double check it. They were generous enough to add 2 orion rings when I went back the next day for the rest of my fish order. Too bad they don't offer package malted vinegar for take out.

This is one of the few truly authentic English fish n chips places in the Bay Area. I am not from the UK, but friends are and they keep going back due to the authenticity. Have also spoken to other Brits while there and they all give it a thumbs up. English beer on tap and an old English pub decor. I read reviews saying it's too oily or not crispy enough or too bland or a bunch of other complaints. However true they may be, the point of this place is authentic English pub style fish n chips and they nail that. Like it or not. It is cash only, but ATMs near by.

Been living in Pacifica for a few years now. Finally decided to check this place out for a late lunch to go. This is a very small joint so I can see it get filled up quite quickly if you plan to dine in. I ordered the infamous fish and chips. When I was handed my order in a brown bag, I noticed it had quite some weight in it. Anxious to rip the bag open after a 10 min drive to my destination. Inside a newspaper and food wrap, I found 2 large pieces of fish and a ton of chips (fries). Both were still piping hot so you know it was made to order. Had a couple of small bites of the fish, to find a chunk of fish falling out of the batter. That was a good portion of real fish filet rather than a mixture of unknown. After enjoying my late lunch, I was pretty full and impressed. Will definitely be going back someday and hopefully other items beside the fish are just as good

Small place with six tables and one small two person table that you might be able to play chess on. I didn't check but there were drawers throat might have had pieces. I also saw a small bar area by the cashier. Decor is cool and very British. CASH ONLY and the waitress was taking orders at the front and bussing the tables. Hard working. I saw deep fried twinkles. As I write this I have not yet made this difficult decision. Also lots of beers and while I'm not into that butter beer seems like something I could maybe get into. Bathroom front looks like English telephone booth front Ordered the fish and calamari combination and the fish and shrimp combination. About .50 more than the regular fish and chips which is two pieces. Chips were not that good to me but others loved them. Fluffy but no seasoning. Adding salt helped. Fish was good as was the calamari and shrimp. Fish was the correct crispness. Hit the spot I would def come back. Oh. The Twinkie was had. Don't judge. Nasty good. Probably only a one time thing ever but no mistake was made trying it

ca$h only. how fitting that this spot is just right at the water. totally smells like the ocean. you step inside and you're in a gaudy little London pub (almost) legitimate fish and chips, just like back in London. batter on the fish was excellent. very crispy while the fish was flaky. yum. i could do without the "chips" though. I had a combo with fish and chips and deep fried oysters. my friend had the same but with fried shrimp. the shrimp looked like the store bought frozen kind because the batter wasn't like the fish. totally coming back for fish and calamari though. enjoy a beautiful sunset while you're at it.

Cute little English Pub. 7 tables total. Nice employees. Frozen fish products, good tarter, small selection of beer to oh with the food. If I lived in Pacifica, I would be back. But would not drive down from San Francisco again for it.

On the days that I become a reclusive homebody, I order take-out from this Gem, and it is just the utmost of goodness wrapped (the proper way!) in clean, oil-dotted newspaper cones! But nothing beats settling into the few booths that line the walls, ordering up a hot basket of flaky delicious fried fish and chips, and a bubbly glass of Smithwick's! Lately, I have also been a fan of the SCALLOPS and chips! Mmmmmm, delectable! A local here over twenty years, I have been eating here over twenty years (so, Smithwick's is sorta a new thing for me, I won't lie)- and it remains a strong family favorite! The staff is wonderful, and the decor is absolutely incredible! I would describe it for you, but you should really go and see it for yourself! Added bonus: they sell wonderful Brit candies, there, too! Dessert? Don't mind if I do... Curly Wurly, please!

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Yes this place is the real deal. This is a tiny restaraunt next to the ocean at the bottom of Pacifica. Parking is not a challenge since there are not many businesses surrounding this spot. The Camelot serves other fine seafoods in different combinations, If your not in the mood for fish n chips. They also do chicken n' chips, shrimp n' chips, scallops n' chips, calamari n' chips, krab cakes n' chips or even oysters n' chips. or do half and half plates. After coming in to eat I found out that this place has been around for 43 years! Restraunt is very well kept they are neat, clean n' up to date. Yes they serve beer. Beers here go great with anything you order. A nice selection of 9 different beers and a couple selections from Guinness. They are open Monday thru Saturday only from 11 - 8pm. The place shuts down a little early considering the fact that they serve alcohol. But other than that I give them 4 stars cuz there food is great! So if your a fish n' chip lover then you've hit the jackpot.

Our family was visiting pacifica and wanted to eat out at a nice fish n chips restaurant, we looked up what was close and found camelot. I'm so glad we went out for dinner here! They had the best food, the fish tasted great and fresh, french fries were awsome, and the krabcakes were the best! Everything tasted so amazing and the cost was very reasonable!! Great beer selection as well! Thank you for a fantastic meal!

Don't get me wrong, I love this place! The fish and chips are better than average, but not as good as I would expect from a place that succeeds so well in looking like an authentic British Pub. Personally, I think they could improve the batter and make the fish more crispy. I felt I had better at Barbara's fish trap in Half Moon Bay. The decor (lots of Princess Diana) and building itself is great. They have very entertaining vintage advertisement wallpaper in the slightly creepy bathroom in the back and sell british foods and beers. It pains me that this place not only takes cash only, but closes early at 8pm. Were this a pub with pub hours AND fish&chips AND convenient payment methods, I would be a regular there.

One of the first places my boyfriend took me to eat in Pacifica was here at Camelot. I wasn't a huge fan of fish and chips before until I came here, and was a little skeptical to try it. I always end of getting the combo with shrimp. Food isn't greasy and the fries are nice and crispy. They have beer on tap, and they only take cash. And they have one of my favorites candy bars, Crunchies! The wait can be a bit annoying though when they get busy from a lot of take outs, so call ahead if your just picking up, and their not open on late or on Sundays either (bummer).

I specifically drove to Pacifica to have a late lunch here. I have fond memories of going here with my grandfather. I walked in, put a magazine on a table, and went to the counter to order. Girl at the counter was not overly friendly. I gave her my order but was then told it was cash only after I pulled out my Mastercard. I asked where there was a Chase bank. She did not know but said I could use the ATM machine. My plan was to go find a Chase, get money and return. However, after what happened when I went to leave, I will NEVER go to this place again!!! I turned to leave and went to pick up my magazine off the table. It was gone! There was a young girl (whom I got the impression was not all there) who was supposedly "picking up" around the restaurant. After the counter nazi looked through some brochures, near the door, she had the gal to tell me that I did not come in with a magazine. She said I must have left it somewhere else and just "thought" I brought it in with me. I said I came with a magazine and was not leaving until I had my magazine. After looking around, I found said magazine behind a bench on the floor! Is this how the young girl picks up around the place? So, needless to say, the customer service here is sadly lacking. Who tells a customer they did not walk in with someone the customer knows they walked in with.

What's not to like, they got fish, they got chips, they got beer. They got a great decor that makes you feel like you are in foggy ole London. The food is authentic and the portion ample. The fish is fresh and well prepared. Not too greasy, but it is deep fried so take that with a grain of salt. It is a small location but never seem to have a problem getting a table. A lot of business but a good half of it seems to be take-out. My only issue .. they are not open 7 days a week.

Scottish guy reporting in. When served, I asked what kind of fish it was, expecting it to be local cod. Its Pollock. The byproduct caught by Alaskan crab fisherman that is used to make fish sticks. I found the fish to be dry and not flaky. For moist white, flaky fish n' chips haddock is best followed by Cod (whats used in England). 2 star food. 5-stars for friendly service, British beer selection, and a realistic English pub decor.

Food is good, just needs a touch more salt. I wanted to write this review specifically for the service on 12/20. It seemed like it was a busy Friday night and I noticed only one girl working the cashier, taking orders, cleaning tables, etc. I definitely give her props for handling a never-ending crowd while being upbeat, sincere and attentive!

Great ambiance in this place; the decor and hard wood finish in the room make you feel you're in a British pub. As for the fish and chips, fantastic! Fish is fresh and flaky, really tasty, and if you want to try something else you can do a "combo" option of one fish fillet and scallops/calamari, etc. I take mine to go, and they wrap it in newspaper in the traditional way. Great place.

Camelot is one of life's guilty pleasures. There's nothing good to be gained from a fried food meal except a big smile and a nice, long afternoon nap. That said, I like to order The Camelot, which has fish, scallops, shrimp, and chips. It's always perfectly cooked, and so much food that it's tough to finish. One of Pacifica's best restaurants, and a unique British Pub experience...

I'm not a huge fish and chips fan like my husband, but this place was so yummy! It takes a while for your order, but that's because everything is being cooked fresh! The batter for the fish was delicious! We'll be coming back for sure. I took out one star, because of the fact that it's cash only.

My family and I happened upon this place one day, and we thought the service was excellent and the food good. The shrimp I got was delicious, but my family had to say otherwise. I want to give this place five stars, but I will say that I wish all the dishes tasted as good. My family's biggest complaint was the blandness of the food and the overflying and old oil. You do have to put a lot of sauce and vinegar on the food because they are a little bland, but if you try some of the foreign beer, it goes great. I personally had Boudington Beer with it and for about a standard $4.00 plus the price of the meal I was entirely satisfied. In fact, they gave me the beer in a lovely British glass! (Can't keep the glass though). Recommended to anyone who likes fried seafood.

LOVE THIS PLACE! I'm sure this place is making a killing right now, especially now that its the Lent season. Regardless, this place makes the best fish n chips in the area... if not the Bay Area! My usual is the 2 piece fish n chips. The consistency of the batter is like no other! Super crispy with LOTS of flaky fish! Man, just writing this review is making me hungry! Be prepared to hit up the ATM first, this place DOES NOT accept credit cards.

Awesome little place in pacifica! I ordered the Camelot (fish, oysters, scallops and shrimp) and of course chips. Chips were thick cut from real potatoes. Everything was well fried, nothing was greasy. Everything was crisp and tasty. I liked the battered deep fried oysters. Crispy on the outside, gooey oysters inside. Decor was stereotypical British. Pictures of the queen and mini coopers. haha. I would come again for fish and chips. Portions are huge. I would give it an extra star if the fish was less dry.

I'm already craving for more fish and chips. Didnt dine in but my lil brother got take out. he ordered the trio and BOY. was the fish GOOD. omg. the batter was crunchy and inside the fish literally just flaked off. the french fries was okay. kinda soggy. like everyone writes -- cash only. i'm going to try and dine here soon. i want more fish!! :D

I wish there was a no star option. Service here was terrible. I came in today around 11:30am and the younger girl was having a side conversation for about 5mins before she initially asked me what i wanted in a rude and annoyed tone. Then she quickly gave me my change and sent me on my way. I dont know why she was in such a bad mood but its not fair to me as i am a regular. Then when i got my food all the fries tasted old and hard. I was so upset. I put up with her bad attitude for old food and burned fish. Im not coming here again. And im letting my fellow peers know not to come here as well. Camelot use to be a good place... now its just filled with bad vibes and old food. Take my advice and drive less than a mile up for good food.

Why does every other restaurant in Pacifica wait until it gets crowded before they clear and clean a table? This place is no different. People looking to sit in this seven table place and two tables are a mess. Another group just left and now three tables are a mess. Tick, tick, time goes by and nothing. What is this all about? With that out of the way, the food is good. They have the fish frying down and it is crisp without much grease. Like the others said, the fish quality is not the best. The oysters got better. They used to be like the shrimp. Bought from some foodservice source. Now, they are homemade. At least, they taste and look homemade.

Step out of the seaside town of Pacifica and into jolly ole Camelot. The staff here is cheery and the food is well, fried, and sinfully delicious. I always order a small one piece fish and chips which is plenty, but if you brought your hunger a regular order will fill you up fast. You can call ahead your to-go order. But if you dine in, grab a pint, take a seat and gaze upon all their awesome memorabilia...good food takes a minute.

We finally were able to come here after a failed attempt a while back. I almost forgot that this place was cash only, luckily me and my bf had cash on us for a "just in case moment". We played it safe and ordered the fish and chips (each). To drink my bf ordered Boddingtons and me a Guinness for me. It was definitely an "eyes are bigger than our stomach" experience because we couldn't even get through half of our baskets. So we got them to go (wrapped in newspaper of course). I have to say though, don't do that. It was definitely delicious when it was fresh out of the kitchen, eating it as leftovers kind of killed the effect.

I heard this little place had good food for some time, and I also heard they have Smitwicks on tap, which is my current favorite beer. Add to that its called "Camelot" and this was a no brainer... The atmosphere is intimate and unassuming. Its pretty small but perfectly well suited to stuff ones face and drink some great beer. Lady at the counter was nice. People expecting some stuffy british fish n chips expert have to remember where they are: Pacifica, Ca! The young lady was a nice local Pacifica resident probably not getting paid a ton of money. Ok, so I'm not a huge seafood fan, but let's face it - Fish n Chips is not the first thing people think of when you say "seafood" (which is probably why I can actually eat it!) The Smithwicks was nice and cold and I enjoyed it while I waited. Some lonely Pacifica weirdo was there trying to talk to both me and the girl behind the counter. Again, this is Pacifca people! If ya want big city "pretty people" the Mission is not very far away! The Fish n Chips came pretty quick and was easily the best I've had. Perfectly fried golden crust, nice hot tender fish inside with a light flavor. The fries were fried to perfection as well and somewhat thicker than average. The portion was huge huge - for sure enough to split with someone. No complaints and highly recomended. Its awesome Fish n Chips with great beer on tap. Not much else I can ask for.

I just came back from Camelot and I have to say this is the best fish and chips spot I have ever had. Really. I must say that I don't eat fish and chips much, as I don't really like deep fried foods. I ordered the fish and chips, to drink a nice big pint of Widmer Hefewizen. Perfect! The fish and chips were not as oily as you would think. The crispiness and taste of the battered fish was awesome. The fish was flaky inside and had a fresh fish taste. Next time I am getting the crab cakes, they looked large and tasty. I also have to try the fried oysters. Yum, Yum!! I am so glad I found this place.

This is a cash only place, which personally, I do not mind. They are a small business that upholds authenticity. After a long day of surfing, I usually stop by Camelot to order their fish and chips, as well as a side of onion rings. Their onion rings are beer battered, which is the only way to go. Their fish is always tender, juicy and fresh. I cannot complain. They also have various I also love the atmosphere of this place. Their bathroom is located behind the telephone painted door, which I find as such a great idea. They sell candies that are hard to find. This is where I know I can snatch a curly wurly. The packaging for their take out orders are wrapped in newspapers, which adds onto the whole experience.

This was the first "real" fish and chips restaurants I've tried and I definitely wasn't disappointed. I came here around 5ish on a weekday and there was a good amount of people considering it was an off hour. Granted, the restaurant isn't that big, but I didn't think there would be more than 2 customers or so. I tried the fish and chips and chicken and chips and both were delicious! The batter was perfect, not soggy and not too crunchy. Both the fish and chicken were juicy and soft. I assumed the chicken would taste like chicken tenders you can get anywhere else, but I was so wrong... it's so much better! The only thing I didn't like were the fries. I like my fries to have a little crispiness on the outside and a soft inside, but most of the fries were just limp and didn't have much flavor unless covered in sauce. The prices were average and parking's easy since it's right across the Safeway plaza. Oh, and the half order should be enough for one person.

I've always wanted to stop by this spot as I am in the Manor District of Pacifica fairly often, and finally got around to doing so recently. I really liked the restaurant itself. It feels cozy and old-timey and somehow made the overcast day feel a little warmer. The beer selection was awesome, and I thought the price to food ratio was very fair, especially for this type of establishment. But what got me was that the food itself just wasn't very good. The fish, though battered and fried (the way I love fish), was unflavored and was either of the cheap or old variety as it wasn't very moist and kind of broke apart instead of nicely flaking. The fried calamari rings seemed like the frozen pre-breaded kind from out of a box. The counter girl was very friendly though. I just wish the food tasted better.

I thought the fish tasted familiar, and then upon closer inspection realized that it was as fresh as could be. They use ocean perch (the same I catch off the angling shores of Pacifica), presumably straight from the ocean literally right next door. Now, in terms of whether or not the ocean perch is a good fish for fish and chips, the answer is that it's mediocre at best. It's not flaky, and it's pretty briny unless caught and cooked the same day. I like the batter they use, but the portions are small ($7 for a junior order with only one piece of fish, whereas The Codmother does a junior order for $7.50 with about the same amount of fries, two pieces of a flakier white fish, and a batter more similar to tempura than the heavy, thick one they use here). I will say that the hushpuppies are solid sides. They fry the corn bread really well, so come here for that, but other than that, a pub with English ales and fish & chips, but no tv and a small dining area leaves much to be desired.

For british food I'll go to SJ or PA, definetly not here. Minus 2 stars because they use pollock and not real cod or halibut. Pollock is what's known as the "Junk" fish... it's basically a blanket term for any "white" fish. Real british fish and chips are usually cod or halibut. (I should not have to practically beg for tartar sauce either) They were out of at least 3 menu items and this was mid week. Seriously.. mid week and you haven't restocked? Minus another star for the unprofessional and quite young staff. If I go into a british pub I expect a certain amount of knowledge and personality. I am going there for not only good food but for the experience. Never should I see your staff stuffing their face behind the counter. Minus another start for the crappy music. If I want to listen to top 40 american music I will turn on my radio or watch MTV. Come on you are a british pub... at least have some brit pop playing. Not freaking britney spears that your 10-20 year old counter girls are playing while they talk and eat behind the counter.

first time. Good! asked about the chips and they said there cut fresh... person I was with thought they were weird. LOL. sweet potato fries I think were cooked a little long. The fish was a good size.. not dry but juicy. The workers checked on us a few times which showed they care. I wish the portion was a little bigger given the price but fish usually cost more. They have this butterscotch beer--cream soda that is great!

The best fish and chips joint I've ever been too. I really liked the English atmosphere you got as soon as you walked in. I ordered the Camelot and I loved all of it, it was very worth the 15 dollars. I especially enjoyed the batter they used for the fish, very delicious.

id give 5 stars but Camelot is CASH ONLY... ANNOYING! This is 2013! Every time I eat at Camelot i end up going to the Bank Of America across the street and get charged a service atm fee. I keep coming for some gosh darn Delicious Fish and Chips!! nothing else. Chicken is ok and shirmp is ok too. BUT fish is BOMB! tarter sauce and vineager!!! ORGASMIC. Make sure to go at an off hour so you can find a table. fish and chips to-go isint the same.

After a long hard day at the beach, we needed something to replace the calories burned bumming in the sun. Camelot's great because they offer their seafood baskets in whole or half portions. Big variety of choices too! Chips (fries) with fish, shrimps, oysters, calamari, scallops, clams or crabcakes. Or a combination basket with chips, fish and choice of another seafood. I say the half fish and chip is worth it. Compared to the combo basket ( yelp.com/biz_photos/54xr… ), the half portion ( yelp.com/biz_photos/54xr… ) has one less seafood item, but same amount of chips and $3 cheaper. Piping hot big pieces of flaky fish. Crunchy thick cut fries that are not overly starchy. This will be a frequent stop after beach trips.

This place has good fish and chips but it needs lessons in basic business. I live within walking distance to Camelot and would like to come here regularly. I've forgiven them for getting my order wrong twice before but this most recent treatment is a new low in any restaurant experience I've had. After waiting ONE-HOUR for my dinner, they told me my food was "missing" and they were now closed and I had to leave. I walked in at 7:30 got in line and placed my order at 7:45 (15 minutes before they close). I asked for nothing fancy, a regular fish and chips to go. I even dropped a nice tip in the tip jar when I placed the order - because that's what regular customers do. I waited at the table closest to the register and the waitress passed by me several times. I'm patient so the wait didn't bother me but after about 20 minutes I noticed that people that ordered after me were getting their food and TWICE the waitress told me my food was "coming right up" and blamed the slowness on a "big line" just before I ordered. I was the only customer still in the restaurant at 8:30 (30 minutes after closing time and 45 minutes after I paid) the waitress said, I'm paraphrasing, "I don't know what happened to your dinner and it's too late for us to make it now because we've already closed the kitchen". She offered the choice between a refund or some leftover food that I didn't want. I chose the refund and told her I was very disappointed. I didn't ask her, and she didn't offer, to give me a coupon I could use later, or return my tip, or any other solution - but I would have been justified in making a scene. So an hour of my Sat night is now wasted, I'm late, I'm hungry, and I still don't have a dinner. Bottom line is that the woman behind the counter made several mistakes and had ample time to discover her errors, but her only solution was to massively inconvenience me without any offer of a make-good. She was apologetic but as the mob says, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining". I moved to Pacifica a year ago and I really like the people here and would have loved to make this one of my regular spots, but in my experience this place is consistently frustrating.

Everyone one love fried food. Whatever your reason for loving fast food, you can't deny that there's something about fried food that is so addicting. My friend took me and a few of our friends down to Pacifica for this place. Now, I've never been to England but he says that the atmosphere here reminds him of the pubs there. I mean I see what he means, because there are so many memorabilia's on the wall when you first walk in. There is a picture of Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth, etc. When you order your food, you actually walk up to the counter and place your order with the lady there. By the way, the lady at the counter was so nice and sweet. We ended up ordering a bunch of fried food - fried mushrooms, fried oysters, fried fish, fried shrimp, french fries, and onion rings. To be honest, I felt like we were about to do some major damage to our arteries with all this fried food. When the lady brought out our food, it was really steaming hot! Like if you don't let it sit for a minute and you take a bite, it will literally burn your tongue. It was all really good, however, I did think the batter on the fish was a little too thick but other than that, Camelot was pretty good. Also, if you do check this place out, be sure to have cash on hand because they are cash only.

Good service. Excellent fish & chips. The fish is not fishy or greasy in any way. Substantial, thick portions that aren't too bready. Thick cut yummy fries. Tartar sauce is delish.

CASH only! Cummon get a square for goodness sakes it's 2013! Service and Hours leave a lot to be desired. I don't think I've ever been greeted with a smile. I get the feeling it's family owned and the kids don't want to work here - but maybe that's just my experience. Major attitude when you ask for extra tartar sauce - really?! The fish is nice and crispy but they can't get the fries crispy. For some reason they are always soggy (guess that's better cause I eat less of them). When you're craving fish & chips this will hit the spot - bring cash and ignore the ambivalent service.

4.5 stars but the location and English authenticity kicked it up! Pollock Fish and Chips were fried perfectly and scrumptious. Pollock is a more dense meat that tastes great when fried. Clamstrips had a bit more breading than I prefer but not as much as many places, however the clams were very tender and had a good flavor. The chips were the standard steak chips fare. It was nice they had Guiness and Bass Ale to make up a well poured Black and Tan. Kudos for that!! They have malt vinegar on the table and the tartar sauce was pretty good. Bathrooms are located behind the red telephone door on the left rear of the dining area. Quick tips: Restaurant is right next to the Safeway and a Walgreens nearby sells pullover sweatshirts if its cold and you just happen to be under dressed for a post dinner beach walk. Pullovers were for 2 for $10. Across the freeway from the 76 station there is a nice little bakery you can walk to that is a great option for dessert after a Fish n Chips grub session! I try to return when in the area and if they are open. My Sprint phone gets 4G service at this location.

Friendly neighborhood place for a nice cold brew... The service was fast and the people were friendly. The appetizers were served piping hot and tasted great!! What else do you need for a Friday night.

Something is not right when you walk into a place like this at 12 noon and it is empty. However, the fish and chips were ok. Just ok. I didn't leave feeling like I got fleeced, so that is a kind of left-handed plus.

Generous portions, especially on the fish...love the crispy batter. Wish the place was bigger, but that's minor. Cheers!

It's not bad but I am partial to the fish and chips at Barbara's fish trap in half moon bay

Mmmm, I love this place! Get their crab cakes and chips, they're delicious. Staff is always nice, and I like the location.

Fried food is a food that just about everyone loves. Everyone has their opinions how fried foods are made best. Thick batter, thin batter, salt & vinegar, how it's seasoned... I've traveled down the coast many times. I've tried many of the fish & chips restaurants from Santa Cruz, half moon bay, and now Pacifica. Camelot doesn't quite meet up to my standard. The batter was too thick and lacked flavor. I hate to say that because I live in Pacifica and would love to come here out of convenience. But after going to Barbara's fish trap in half moon bay, it raised the bar pretty high. It's kind of like after going to Madison Square Garden or Staples Center, then going to the Oakland Coliseum. Madison Square and Staples just set the standard too high for The Coliseum. But in the end, the art of frying food is an art that is based on preference. You might like Picasso, I might like Van Gogh. In the end Camelot wasn't my taste in the fryolated arts..

Hands down- the best Fish & Chips you can get around here! When I was a kid, my dad always took me to an authentic Fish & Chips spot in SF. I'm not talkin about fish sticks and fries or breaded, frozen fish fillets and fries. I'm talkin fresh cod, battered and fried to a golden crisp and fresh french fries- no traces of oil cause the newspapers they were served in soaked it all up. Homemade tartar for dipping. Yes, as a kid I knew this was the real thing! My first visit to Camelot a couple years ago, brought me back to this time. I've tried a couple of the combo meals, such as the fish/shrimp and chips and the fish/calamari and chips, but it's just not as flavorful or satisfying as getting all fish. Cute little pub- everything that is English is up on those walls! You can make a game out of it, think Beatles & Abbey Road and look for it. Think Princess Di or the game of Cricket- it's there. Limited seating, but the fast & friendly staff help to make things flow smoothly and you won't wait long for a table to open up.

God Save to Queen, Anarchy in the UK, Mr. Beans, Top Gear UK. Yep that's British culture alright. The fried oysters, mussels were good and they don't add salts to their fries which was even better.

I came in on a really busy day. It was the first time I'd been here and there was one woman to run the orders back and forth as well as staffing the register for take out. There was a problem with my order which couldn't be rectified that day, but which the staff at Camelot fixed the next day. Well done on customer service. Oh yeah and the food is good too!

I think I may have to come back here again and give it a 2nd go-round since reviews are so high but to be honest, I can't give it more than 3 stars for now. The fish was over-battered; but was tasty, just too much batter and not enough fish. Their sauce is killer! The calamari was seasoned well and good, but not too crispy (I guess I like it more crispy! I dunno..) and I thought it was decent. The chips to me were super bland (I never put salt on things but I had to and it still did not seem to make a difference) and I found myself doucing them with ketchup and tabasco (I wish places would carry something other than tabasco...it's not hot and get's boring after a while!) and I managed to eat 5 or 6. The service was good; in the sense that they are polite and I did hear the girl that works their ask a table if their food was ok (although I did not get the same treatment) so they seem to care about what their customers think, which is a great sign. However, they are a bit slow and I think it was a good 10min before I finally got my soda and 25min before we got our order (the place not too full - maybe 4 tables taken and a couple walk-ins who obviously called in their order) which was cool because I was not in a hurry, but I was VERY hungry and thirsty by the time I got it! Overall the place was decent and I would go back - hopefully to have an even better experience. For now...3 stars.

Definitely a must go if you're in Pacifica & this is coming from a world renowned seafood hater. A friend suggested this place and when they did, my first thought was to kick them out of my circle of friends because everyone knows I HATE fish! It was explained that they also have chicken and chips...what's that you say CHICKEN N CHIPS?! So after dropping something off at the post office and with my stomach growling, I thought I'd give this place a try. The time was around 11:30, so they were only open for about half an hour and the tiny place was almost packed. Even with a full house the waitress quickly acknowledged me and took my order even with a lot on her plate...lol...get it?! Got home to enjoy my lunch and the chicken is really nice. Probably some of the best chicken tenders/fillets I've had in a while. The chips were on the soggy side and I wish they would've been crispier but I got more chicken then I did chips, so I was good. Lastly if you order take out, she will ask if you want the packets of tartar sauce or sauce in the small cups. CHOOSE THE CUP! Those packets were naaassssssssssssttttttttyy! Still the chicken was pretty tasty especially for this to be a fish n chips joint. Finding this place was a major catch (fish...catch...lmfao) and glad to have it in Pacifica.

This is a great little pub. They have Guinness and fried oysters among many other items. And it is decorated like a British pub. My wife and I link to stop whenever we are in Pacifica. I recommend it.

I think you can only find this place by reference, or if you live around the area since it's a bit hidden. I found out about this place from my friend, so we decided to go on a lunch date and check this place out. She tells me this place cooks their fish and chips the way it's suppose to be cooked, with beer batter. My fish and chips virginity was popped that day.. This place is located around a plaza I believe, and it's quite small inside. Definitely a pub feel to it as you enter, fits what they serve which is good. The basket if fish and chips plus a coke costs about $10, which is pricier than the lunch costs but I wouldn't be surprised since it's fish. I was sad, because I forgot to take pictures of my order and I realized it after finishing my meal.. sadface. Let's take a couple of steps back to when I got my order so I can tell you about that! I received two decent sized pieces of fish on top of a nice handful of fries. The fries weren't as good, but I guess it's the type of chips that goes with the fish. I wouldn't say the fish was great, but it was pretty good. Some people don't like Tarter sauce, but I think it goes well with the fish. You can get a nice bite full of fish flavor, but what I enjoyed more than the flavor of the fish was the crispy skin. I was full from my meal, which is a good thing since I don't get full as often from my meals eating out. The bad thing was I became hungry 10 minutes after.

I've been craving fish and chips and decided to check this place out. My boyfriend and I shared a fish and chip and a clams and chip. Both were delicious! They were very fresh and fried perfectly, with a large portion of fries. I took out one star because I was very disappointed to find out they did not have any appetizer. I was craving soup but unfortunately, they don't serve any. When I asked if they had soup, the lady behind the counter said, "Nope, we only have fried food." This place is CASH ONLY so don't say I didn't warn you.

Excellent, traditional, English fish and chips. The batter was of good consistency, and the chips were plump and hot. They wrapped them in paper and newspaper. I had to-go and the portion size was perfect. I will definitely be a return customer.

We got the combo so able to try a little bit of everything, it's about $15 (cash only). This is a small place where patrons standing closely watching everyone eating while waiting for the seating that made me a little uncomfortable. - 1 piece of Fish & Chips - good quality, good size, fresh, crunchy light batter, without too oily - 2 fried scallops - not worth it, from cash and carry? - 2 fried oysters - not worth it, from costco? - 2 calamari - it's very bad (the ring), it would be fantastic if it was the body with legs.

Authentic london style fish and chips - really hard to find these days in the area, no one does the batter right. Cash only and they make everything to order so if you're ordering to go, might want to call it in otherwise you have to wait a bit. Love that they put salt and vinegar on, though I still add more. They also sell bottles of malt vinegar and candy that you find in London (or Cost Plus) though it is quite marked up. Used to come here years ago and so happy that it has remained the same!

Classic, fish n chips! The fish is great! Love their tartar sauce. Space is a bit small and the price is a little on the high side.

I went to Pacifica to go crabbing and dropped in here for a bite of lunch. When I opened the door, I recognized the place, I had been there before maybe a few years ago. Looked like a tiny English pub like place. I ordered the fish and chips and a Guinness. My meal came out hot and crispy, taste was what I expected. Now I'm craving it while I'm writing this. Too bad I live too far away to drop by.

Overall it was pretty good. I personally prefer a lighter batter but that's just personal preference. The decor inside is cute and it seems like they have a lot of cool beers on tap . Server was sweet. Chips were a pass. Cash Only.

My fiance picked up food from here so I did not actually go here. But he said the place was small but very british looking and seemingly authentic. He had the fish and chips and I had the chicken and chips. He loved the fish but thought it was strange that they did not have their own tartar sauce and the packaged kind they give you was not good at all. My chicken was SOOO GOOD! I am still craving it! Too bad we got it on a Saturday and they are closed Sundays, I'll have to wait until Monday for more. We both agreed that their "chips" or fries rather were not good at all. They were both soggy and hard at the ends.... not sure how that happened. Maybe it was a one time thing. I am hoping so because I want more chicken and my fiance wants more fish! And for all you picky eaters out there like me, the chicken is all white breast meat and was exactly what I look for in chicken. The best part of this place is that they serve........ Deep Fried Mars Bars....... yes this is not a treat you should be having on a daily basis but I had a deep fried snickers bar at a state fair eight years ago and have been looking for another ever since. I was so excited and it did NOT disappoint! So crazy good. This place is cash only so beware. My fiance said not a lot of seating so go when it isnt particularly close to a meal time or take it home or somewhere else to eat. Is it monday yet?

Fish and chip restaurants are hard to come by nowadays. Finally after all my time searching for the perfect fish and chip pub, I hit the jackpot. The food was awesome, I loved the fish and chips. I also like their variety of drinks, the only bad news is that there is no free refills on their root beer because it's bottled. But I don't mind that. I highly recommend coming here if you want the best fish and chips ever, as long as you don't mind the price range.

I came to this place a couple weekends ago and they are not worth my money! The lady who took my order was rude and was really short to me. When she messed up my order, she let me know it's goin to be fixed! I waited over an hour and still didn't get my replacement. It's not worth the money. When my friends where eating and I was the only one without food was disappointing! I asked to speed to the manager and she told me she was but you could tell she wasn't. Also she bashed us all. We didn't even leave her a tip because how horrible she was. You will never see me coming here again. You guys need better workers or be shut down.

This is a nice little British restaurant serving great beers like Boddingtons , Guinness and others. The fish are nice size fillets of which you get 2pcs with your chips. The fries were barely warm, and the fish hot and right out of the fryer. Place gets pretty packed, but hit it just right and got a table for me and my kid. It's cash only but there is a ATM next door for $3. Beer = 5 stars Fish = 3.5 stars Chips = 1.5 stars Ambiance = 4 stars Price = 4 stars minus , lost 1 star for cash only . Cost extra $3

Love coming in to a real Fish n Chip shop. Living in the area, I come for a proper Fish dinner served in newspaper at least twice a month. Fish is fresh, chips lovely with all the malt vinegar on them. Great portions too. Wish they had a c/c swipe but don't really mind paying in cash since I know they only take cash. New customers might be a bit upset.

The fish is delicious. The reason why I'm giving them 3 stars is because the tartar sauce that comes from a package is disgusting!
