EEK! is right! I have never been, but we were headed to Palm Springs and wanted to stop and eat. My wife settled on this place (and yes I am throwing her under the bus on this one). It was very country-ish, which is fine. Not to many patrons, but it was late not a big deal. The menu served that fried, breaded, anything that is great for a late night dive, again not a big deal. I ordered the fish and chips, and my wife ordered the soup and salad. When my order came, the fish already looked overly fried, but that was not the worst. Before I took a bite of anything, I notice a HAIR on the plate. I normally never send anything back, but aside from a rat this a restaurant no-no. I flagged the waiter down, he took it away and brought me back a new plate. The fried fish sucked, it was overly fried and blackend, plus even the diet coke tasted weird. Overall I lost my appetite to finish my dinner, and was pissed that despite them remaking the dish, they still included it on our bill. I didn't throw a fit, I just wanted out of there. Needless to say that before we ever make it to Palm Springs the trip was already one to remember. I will never be back!

We have been going here for years! Its not the greatest place but its nice. The servers are very friendly. Its clean and its good food. DO NOT EXPECT A LOT. There is not much to it but its good. I love their fresh salads and the vegetable soup is yummy.

Loved the atmosphere and food! If you are into the boutique food scene this may not be for you. This place is where the locals go and have gone for years. I loved watching the old timers! The food was very good. The kitchen doesn't wince if you ask for a change in ingredients. The service is friendly, kind, and fast. We went twice while staying at a near hotel. Will plan on visiting again if we are back.

Hadn't been here since September of 2007 so today I figured I'd give it a try again. The food was pretty good, I had a traditional breakfast, eggs over medium, crispy bacon, hash browns, and biscuit & gravy. The food was prepared as ordered but the biscuit seemed stale and the gravy was a bit cold. Other than that, it was good. The service was great, the food was quickly prepared, and the prices are very affordable.

I have eaten here more than a few times because I have a friend who lives nearby. The food is always good and you cant beat the prices either. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. 4 stars all day long for this classic old style restaurant.

Let me say this up front-- we have been going to Spires forever. I'm biased and we're regulars. Ask yourself the following--- 1. Do you want a good meal at a reasonable price? 2. Is the meal more important than a snazzy décor? 3. Is it important the meal is actually cooked there on site vs. the portioned controlled microwave warm up garbage of a Denny's or Applebee's? 4. Do you want breakfast for dinner? 5. Do you wanted to get a sit down meal and be treated with respect and welcome by the servers and managers vs. being treated like the next tip? Or how fast can they turn over a table? 6. Do you need to quickly check your email and catch the news while you're being served? 7. Do you need to get a bite to eat before or after going to the Ontario Convention Center, Ontario Airport, or Ontario Mills Mall? If so, Spires is the place for you. Spires in Ontario is a real American Dinner without all the fu-fu BS of the latest Food Network Restaurant Rookies trying to enter the market. This is a local family owned group of restaurants that keep the cash in the community and cares about the customer. At Spires 90% of the food is prepared fresh. The rest are standard deserts and goodies they bring in because "we" the customer's like them enough to buy them frequently. So we get it. This isn't the Cheesecake Factory, and on behalf of the "Regulars," we are glad they aren't-- so please don't come in with an attitude and disrespect these good folks trying to making a living for themselves and their employees. They serve good food, good coffee & drinks, great deserts and will be thrilled to box up a to go order if you need it. Oh yes if you're eating lighter, they have Senior and Kids Menus. The menu is standard diner fare-- but they do have a few things on the menu that are memorable: The New York Steak compete dinner for $12 beats the hell out of Norm's these days. The Fried Zucchini sticks (more like sticks,) are homemade and are excellent. Their Mediterranean Salad and the Mediterranean Omelets (I add bacon or ham,) are out of this world. If you want a good bowl of soup, with a Club, BLT, Patty Melt or Tuna Melt, this is your go to place. Oh if your Sweet Fang is hungry-- try the pies or the carrot cake. They are delicious!

Meh. We were staying at a hotel within walking distance and the pictures of the food looked delicious so we gave it a shot. The service was good, the food was quick, but it was just... food. I was so excited to try the biscuits and gravy, but it lacked any flavor. It tasted like a roux. The rest of the meal was decent, but lacked anything exciting. Kind of disappointing....

Not much to say but they serve food. Ordered pancakes that were steaming hot a.k.a. microwaved. The eggs were fine. We also ordered a Cobb salad which was ordinary. The creamer for the coffee was lumpy and slimy from being old. Won't be back

Fun little diner near the airport. Good (real) eggs, satisfying breakfast. The scrambles and omelettes are good. Attentive staff too!

In town for the weekend. Wanted to eat at a local spot that served breakfast and Spire's was nearby. I ordered their Cinnamon Roll French Toast breakfast special. It was simple and satisfying. Their twist on French Toast wasn't extraordinary but it also wasn't bad at all. The course included two eggs of your choice and four pieces of delicious bacon. This spot is great if you're just looking for a quick inexpensive bite to eat.

I read the reviews prior to coming. I ordered the country breakfast. Eggs, sausage, bacon & biscuits & gravey. It was average. Nothing special. The BF ordered french toast & his comment was "Geez, I've never seen such small french toast".

Amazing food, amazing service I fell in love with the chicken fried steak I will be back very soon if not tomorrow me and my boyfriend have officially found our go to restaurant.

This is the place I come for when I'm craving a tuna melt sandwich. For under $10 I get two full tuna melt sandwiches and half onion ring n crispy fries. Breakfast is also a generous amount for about $10. Fast friendly service. 80's mauve decor throughout the restaurant.

Early Saturday morning breakfast is always a fun treat. But I gotta say that Spires was a bit underwhelming and not much of a treat. Don't get me wrong, we had a decent meal, prepared the way we asked. However, it is the epitome of a 3 star joint today. The place could use a freshening up in the decor department and somehow get some life into this place. The menu is okay, better for lunch than breakfast, and the location works for the airport traveler. Don't get your hopes up, but you will get fed.

Came here for Father's Day breakfast, we were seated promptly, served pretty quick, omelet was good, hash browns too, coffee was good, bacon was a little microwaved tasting, other than that, we've always liked this place, we will be back.

I had Caesar salad here, and it was decent. I was glad that I found edible salad in this town. They serve breakfast all day. If you happen to stay in this area while traveling, probably this restaurant is the best bet for you.

Please don't believe the 4 star review. I read reviews, and as a local I had never been here so we tried it out tonight. The food was bland no flavor. Our waitress was nice, the cashier guy refused to split our bill. I ordered the NY steak and shrimp, the 4 grilled shrimp were good, everything else was mediocre. I ordered my steak medium well, but it was way over cooked and dry, I didn't even eat it. The onion rings in the appetizer platter we ordered and the mozzarella cheese sticks were the best thing there. Our total was $44 for 2 people. NOT WORTH IT. Save yourself the trip. You're well off going to Corkeys instead or even Dennys up the street.

Very good food. Good service. Nothing too spectacular, but all in all the prices were very reasonable and the food tasted very good. I would recommend this place.

Food was mediocre. Steak was over cooked twice. Nothing stood out. Service was good. Nothing special here. I'll move on to somewhere else.

This is a good diner. Typical diner fare at reasonable prices. It was full of little old people, so you know it is decent and cheap. The staff was friendly and food was expertly prepared. Skip the chain restaurants and try this out.

Came here today, sitting in restaurant right now. Must say service was okay, not the greatest asked for ice tea, they gave me hot tea instead and black specks in my gf's soda... Food not good at "ALL". My eggs were cold and sausage was toooo salty.. Did not finish it. My gf ordered the country skillet the potatoes were very soggy and her scrabbled eggs were very runny looks like she didn't even eat any of it... We shall never return again. Just helping and saving you fellow yelpers out there from a bad restaurant... Actual rating 1.5 stars not 2.

First time to spires in years, had the lumberjack breakfast and the kids breakfast with French Toast for my daughter. First off WoW a lot of food. Everything was cooked just right. The French Toast was simply the Best I've had and I'm not a french toast guy but finished off the two my daughter couldn't finish. The best. Sherri was our server. Nice lady. I'm coming back with my wife. I give it 4 stars only cuz I NEVER give 5 because there is always room for improvement. The building is old and inside is the same but hey everything get run down over time. Staff was great because the food was good. $21 and change in my opinion is great for the food that we got. We'll be back.

Waited 45 minutes for an appetizer. Which tasted great. 10 minutes later we get our food. One of us got something noone ordered. The garden burger was gross as all hell that she cpuldnt even finish because it was so bad. My bacon cheese burger was decent. However, my onion rings were colder than room temperature and asked to get fries instead which came out nice and warm. Another member of the party order a San Francisco burger with avocado and didnt receive the avocado. Also to find my glass was cracked and cut my finger. This was just terrible. Edit: the only good part is that I survived the bleed out and the ranch was pretty good. (5/5)

They have great deals for lunch. It's an American diner place, so burgers, sand which, spaghetti, breakfast type food.

  • Alma A.

Stopped at this restaurant because it was the first restaurant I saw after leaving the convention center. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger special. It was pretty good. The hamburger was not small it was just right. The meat was juicy. The bacon was perfect. Crunchy and just good. Service was great.

  • Aira T.

I was surprised with the food. I was skeptical and was not sure what to expect. Decor is a little outdated but i guess thats the "spires theme". Food came in large portions and server was very nice and explained that the food came out longer than expected due to a large hotel order.

  • David V.

So disappointed m a regular the asst. manager knows our drink order but tonight I will never go back. The service was horrible never got my desert the steak was cold no point sending it back cause no one to fix it never had a waitress the manger took our order. In the end no discount was ever offered and I don't know if I will ever go back. You just lost a regular the convention people won't be there next week the regulars will.

This place is just like Denny's...with the baked goods display case and the sign advertising the specials. Service was very good and my friend and I never felt neglected. We took our time and were never rushed. The food is nothing to rave about...typical diner food...hits the spot when you're in the mood for comfort food. Portions are generous.

Haven't been to a Spires since I was young. And didn't realize this was so close to home Have already been twice and the food was goos and price is unbeatable Its a cross between dennys and norms Just not any of the fancy flare I recommend

  • Paul P.

Thank you fellow Yelpers. You did not disappoint. In a hurry and they served quick, hit and tasty. Great omelette, pancake and coffee. Service was very good as well. Loves having 1/2 of a fresh avocado as a garnish.

This is the type of restaurant where I wanted to walk into the kitchen and shake the cooks hand. Had it not been for the 100 degree weather leading me to get a hotel room to enjoy the pool that was walking distance away from Spires, I would have never gone. As I walked in, I could feel the nice cool air and their fresh iced tea made the visit even better. With the typical diner feel, the customer service, prices and good food made my experience worth it. My order was done right the 1st time and the refills came like clockwork. My plate cane with either a soup or salad. I leaned towards the soup and was not disappointed. I was expecting a cup but got a bowl instead. I did not need to add any spices as it was just perfect. Their steak dinner was also good to go. Overall, a wise choice that left me satisfied.

Usually everytime I come to Ontario, I eat here. Older decor, not many spires even left. Ham and swiss on rye, my favorite, with salad blue cheese. Salad, nothing special, but filling. But I was disappointed the ham and swiss it was not on the menu anymore. But they did make it for me. Everyone is always nice. We always come in with about 5 to 7 people, they are very accommodating.

Can I rate 0 stars? This place is a joke. I've been here for 2 hrs waiting for my food and once it was served it was under cooked! The chicken was pink!! I asked for the Mgr and he said he was too busy to come out here and talk to me...seriously? That's unacceptable! The server kept asking me for a drink refill while I asked for the Mgr at least 4 times. The server who I started off not being pissed at told me she would take off $1 for the chicken....it's a $2.50 upcharge....as I said unacceptable! I asked for the Mgr AGAIN and this time the excuse was that he was in the kitchen and they only had one cook tonight...what the hell? I get things happen but when I sent my chicken back the first time and nicely and politely said it wasn't cooked and they just stuck it under the warmer and then brought it back out 3 min later and I removed it from my plate and had to tell the server to leave it so I could talk to the mgr? That's when my patience ran out. Then as I'm writing this the mgr came out and said I don't believe you, it's cooked and he proceded to pick up a piece and eat it in front of me? GTFOH! I'M DONE!! The health dept will be receiving a call. He refused to take off my meal so I walked out. I left money for my drink and that's it.

Picked this place to stop by with a business associate before heading out to a meeting. Busboy / host was very attentive and ran (yes, ran) us to our seat almost immediately, and sat us. No offer for coffee, water, etc., but we did get menus to look at. No other restaurant staff noticed us until 10 - 20 mins later, when a waitress FINALLY walked by, telling us that she'll be by in a minute. Restaurant certainly wasn't full. Gave her another minute or so... We should have at least had drinks on our table by then and our orders taken (we both knew what we wanted, and had for some time). After combining these facts with the info on the orher 1-star-ratings, we walked out.

I love this place!! It's rare to find an old school diner now a days that is not a generic Denny's. The salads are fresh and delicious and the soups are always tasty. They have great deals that come with soup, salad, dessert and potatoes. I have been coming here for years, since I was a kid and I plan on carrying on the tradition. The staff is super friendly and attentive and it's a nice peaceful setting. I don't care about the ambiance, once again, it's nice to go somewhere that is old school and not your every day sit down restaurant!

I love this place! Always a great deal and always great service- the Monday Fried Chicken Dinner Special is a excellent deal at $7.99 for soup & salad, 4 pcs of fried chicken, mashed or baked potato, dinner roll or garlic bread-Delicious!.... Whenever I want a quick meal:I go here...

  • Nikki H.

I love this place, it is for sure one of my favorite places to eat. The prices are extremely reasonable and they offer specials each day. I usually go when they have there sirloin steak special and you get a lot of food with that. You get soup, salad, an 8oz steak, potato, bread, and to top it off you even get dessert for only about 7.99 or 8.99. It's a meal that can be shared! It's very close to the airport and is a great place to go before taking off, after landing, or taking family members that have been on a plane for hours for a good filling meal. The staff is very friendly and they always know our drink orders since we tend to eat there quite a bit. I think you can print a 20% off coupon for the web but I'm not sure if that's still available.

  • Cookie M.

I have to give this place 5 stars. Inbred Empires version of the "Greasy Spoon." Clean, with dated, and faded decor, cracked seat cushions, friendly service, (Juan the waiter is the best!) a little crater on the corner of Holt and Vineyard. But best not overlooked.. Food is good and decently priced. I had the Alfredo Grilled Shrimp and Chicken dinner. Yum! Not the best, but definitely way better than expected. They closed the one on Haven, a shame because I have great memories there as would any Cucamonga native. Now if only I could get them to bring back their Monte Cristo sandwich.... Free WiFi, no one to bug you on your lunch break or if you simply wanna get a away and no one can find you!

Nice place to eat.. But the one lady that sets the tables asked only my husband if he wanted coffee, so she brings back 2 coffees and I told her I don't want coffee I didn't order that because you didn't ask me, I want soda.. I told her just because one person wants coffee doesn't mean both people do..

  • George H.

Super good food, especially the fried chicken dinner on Mondays and the fillet of sole on Fridays. Also, the steaks are great. Management, servers, and bus staff all work hard and are friendly. There is a lot of convenient, free parking next to the restaurant.. Ignore the negative reviews: I've been going to Spire's since 1978, when the Monday chicken dinner was $1.99, with soup, salad, roll, potato, and desert, and I needed to stretch my college student loan money as far as it would go. This is a great place to eat instead of wasting your time and money at the trendy high-priced restaurants that are filled with brain-dead phonies who are sleazy enough to wear Kardashian slut clothes. Support Spires and forget the trendy ca-ca holes; they go out of business and Spires stays open with good, solid American food, reasonable prices, and attentive service.

Saw this place after leaving the gun show and thought we'd try it. I would give it 5 stars for the food but a 1 for service which was very, very slow and there weren't that many people there. Didn't see the waitress after we were finally served our food other than refilling a drink. Waited forever for the check and finally had to ask a busboy if he could bring our check. The food was great though and would go back just for that. Hopefully will have a more attentive waitress.

It was 9 at night and the parking lot was empty so we were skeptical except for the great Yelp reviews. The decor is straight out of the early 80's -- and not in a cool, throwback way, but more in a "no money has ever been spent on remodeling in 35 years" way. But the service was awesome, the food was great, and the prices a bargain! Maribel was so nice and made sure we had everything. For less than $10, I got the daily special which included - soup --- potato leek was piping hot and not salty like most soups - salad --- no wilted lettuce, and it was cold and crispy, just the way a salad should be - garlic bread --- huge piece! Not burnt, but I had too much food to eat much of it - baked potato --- can't really mess this up but it was nice and hot - grilled fillet of sole --- probably 14 ops and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked so it was still moist - bread pudding --- amazing!!! Not mushy and not hard and was soooo good! My parents -- who are crazy hard to please -- said they want to come back for breakfast, and that never happens!

Ugh! Got there around 9:10am, really didn't feel like breakfast food. Ordered the french dip sandwich with fries and a soda. Fries were well-cooked, but didn't seem to have ANY salt whatsoever. The soda was really off, like the mix was wrong or something; way too pale and tasted weird, and so much ice in the glass, there was only about 1/2 a cup of actual liquid in it. The french dip sandwich was weird. The roll was nice, but the meat was overly salty. The aus jus was SO salty it tasted like someone dumped a bottle of soy sauce into it, and had no other flavor to it other than that. Now, the service. I always try to take into account how busy the restaurant is, because even the best waitstaff gets so legitimately slammed they just CAN'T do better for you. The place was a bit busy, maybe there'd been a person who called out that day, but really, I saw my server all of 4 times, period. She sat me down and took my drink order, 10 minutes went by. She brought my drink and took my order, 20 minutes went by. She brought my order, which is when I asked her to bring my check asap because I would need to go as soon as possible. 20 minutes go by, during which time I finished my meal in less than 10 and proceeded to wait another 10; she finally brings me my check and for the first time, asks me if i want another soda, even though it's been empty for most of my visit, what with there having been so little liquid in it in the first place. No check-ups in between, or refills of my soda before this point. Most of my time was spent waiting, not eating; I didn't even see her nearby with other people so I could flag her down. I saw 2 other people working the floor on my side of the place; a busboy, who seemed to be working his butt off, and a guy who might have been a manager or supervisor, who went around to literally every other table than mine (I wasn't exactly tucked into a corner and hard to spot), checking up on the other diners and making conversation. Most of the other diners were 55+, maybe some of them were regulars, but really. If you're management, and going to check up on diners, you check up on EVERYONE, period. If waitstaff is slammed with work, you start helping out by taking part of a section, or refilling drinks, breaking someone, whatever, because YOU ARE MANAGEMENT, and it's YOUR ultimate resonsibility to make sure the shift runs smoothly, and customers leave happy. Ultimately, I'm wondering if the shitty service had to do with my age; except for the busboy, I was the youngest person in the place by at least 20 years, and have been outright asked to leave bars because the bouncers or bartenders have thought my id was a fake because of how young they thought I looked, even into my late-20s. Maybe they just thought I'd be a bad tipper anyway and wasn't worth the bother, I don't know. It's a shame, because when I get excellent service, I've been known to tip at least 30%, and I rarely make it hard for waitstaff by asking for lots of extra stuff. Next time I'm going to Denny's; the food is better, as is the service.

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. Each waiter knows who we are, and are extremely friendly. They make you feel like family every visit. The food is also amazing. The top sirloin steak is such a great value, it's hard not to come back. Probably one of the best restaurants around!

My friend and I recently had lunch here. I was very impressed with the great service from our server. (don't know his name) but was a male, Hispanic and had a very friendly demeanor. We ordered the Tilapia plate (special of the day) and the food was delicious! I ordered mashed potatoes, salad, fruit and garlic bread with my lunch and was very satisfied with the portions. The fish was prepared just right and I really enjoyed the whole meal! The server came back often to see if we needed anything and asked us how everything was. He was also behind the counter, register area when we first came in so maybe he was a manager - not sure though. Just very nice and accommodating. We plan to return again soon! Prices were definitely reasonable!

  • Jake V.

I'm all for diner food from a box, but this wasn't particularly good diner food from a box. The exception was the dinner salad; iceberg, sure, but it came with crispy cucumber slices and croutons. The fried chicken was dry, greasy, and over-fried, the baked potato was dried out, and the veggies were covered in oil. Prompt service all around and bottomless sodas helped things along a bit, as did the large helpings, but as far as diner food goes this place won't be winning many awards.

This was horrible. My family and I have been doing a lot of running around that morning and decided to go to breakfast . I suggested Norms because we have had nothing but excellent service and food there and was a bit skeptical about Spires, but since it was close, I decided against m better judgment. We were seated and ordered from the breakfast menu and watched other families and people be seated after us who got their food in a timely matter. It took 45 minutes to finally get our food. The soda I had had a strange taste like it was out dated. The pancakes had to be sent back because they were not cooked through and had to wait another 2o minutes for them to come back, and the second batch tasted like it was play dough. My poor husbands steak was completely rare and half fat. The service was horrible. The waitress seemed to not know how to smile and continuously walked by our table without asking if we needed anything or to refill our drinks, we had to flag other workers to get attention. The only good thing that came out of this entire situation? Was that they cut our bill in half. But....we didn't really get to eat either. If you can, go to Norms.

No, not recommended. I went here because it was close to the hotel I was staying at in Ontario and it had three and a half stars here on Yelp. Unfortunately, I and my coworkers had a less than stellar meal here. My veggie burger was very marginal at best, and was actually overcooked. My coworkers got overcooked onion rings with their entrees, and Spires' celebrated fried zucchini ended up tasting like nothing more than grease. Most of us ate up our food here quickly because we were hungry, not because we enjoyed our meals. One person seemed to really enjoy her huge club sandwich, and whatever she didn't eat was feasted upon by my other co-workers. I'll give an extra star for that--at least there was SOMETHING of quality at the table. If you're at one of the nearby hotels and you're looking for a place to have a tasty lunch or dinner after your plane ride to Orlando, I suggest that you do not go here. In my opinion, the food here is mediocre at best, and pretty awful at worst. I'm convinced that we would have been more satisfied with our meal had we gone to the Jack in the Box nearby.

I came here between lunch and dinner. Plenty of typical food options. I had the original spires which was a roast beef sandwich on toast along with zucchini fries . Meal was good and service was great.

Great prices. And good portions. If you're on a budget this is the best place to go for your buck. Food is hearty and tastes great! Kids love coming here.

We walked to Spires from the convention center after our friends graduation ceremony and you would think that due to their proximity to the convention center they would be accustomed to serving large crowds. We were a group of 11. They seated us and were extremely flustered when it came to taking our orders and serving us. We didnt get our food till much later and a quick bite to eat turned into a bit of an ordeal. Luckily we had good friends and good conversations at our table so we didn't mind the wait so much.

We had never been here, but saw a take out menu in the hotel we were staying at across the street from it. We decided to try it out, & wish we had gone over there before this, when we were in this area. My husband & I couldn't believe how reasonable priced the food was, but also the size of the servings. The restaurant is a good old fashioned family place, with super friendly staff, & it was also clean. Sure wish we had one of these where we live!! Well worth going to. The waiter kept our ice tea glass full, & I just can't find the words for finding this wonderful place to eat at that was right under our nose!! We will definitely be going back to this place when we are in this area again!!

The picture's not that flattering, is it? This place is starting to look slightly older. Needs a simple coat of paint, and some new plastic for a letter on their sign. Inside? VERY friendly staff. Well trained. They knew the menu well- were able to make great recommendations. I tried the pot roast, though, and was a tad dissappointed. Do you know how you used to make it? Sear the beef, then toss in carrots, onions, garlic, salt and pepper, and of course, potatoes? well, their pot roast was all separated. the beef tasted like it'd been "portioned out" and precooked in a factory, then vacuum sealed and frozen. They heated the beef in the micro, added mashed potatoes (!), and their fresh veggies in piles around the plate. Now, I ask you. Really. Is that really pot roast? Ok, Rant off. The iced tea was great, the dessert very good, and inexpensive. Would I eat here again? Yep. I'd just try something else.

So, my grandmother and I were feeling rather nostalgic and decided to eat at Spires. My expectations were rather low... it has been over a decade since I last ate there and thought the food would be on the same level as Denny's... you know, okay but nothing great. Boy was I surprised!! The food was incredible. We both ordered dinner specials. They came with BOTH soup and salad. The soups were wonderful... the salads pretty blah, but still tasty. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken with baked potato and garlic bread. I have eaten this meal from coast to coast... it is a major comfort food for me, especially when I was traveling... and this was THE best tasting! It was crispy, it was tender and juicy, and most importantly... it was delicious. Dessert was large scoops of ice cream. Over all it was far and away better than Denny's and much better than most other diner style restaurants. The place was just starting to get busy when we left. The service was impeccable and friendly. The waitstaff was attentive and our drinks were never empty. Our used dishes seemed to simply disappear and the needed to go boxes were given before we needed to ask. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted really good basic fair and wonderful prices.

Woke up at Ontario Holiday Inn starving. Decided to drive around to see what was around near the hotel for some good and cheap breakfast. Thank goodness Spires was just around the corner. Went in and saw their breakfast specials. Pancakes and Eggs for 4.99, Steak Sirloin and Eggs for 6.49, and Porkchops and Eggs for 7.99. I decided to go for the sirloin and eggs special which came with hashbrown and and bread. Had it medium rare and sunny side up which came out cooked exactly the way i wanted it. Poured A1 sauce all over my steak, hot sauce on the eggs and hash and grape jam on my bread.....that hit the spot alright! Good meal for a very fair price. Service was good and I was attended to on a regular basis. This place is like Denny's but without the noisy rude ghetto crowd. Everyone knew each other inside, felt like everyone was a regular except me.

AWFUL! I should have heeded the previous reviews but this place was right across the street from our hotel. The fried chicken was severly over fried, but it had to be to fry off all the feathers. You could see the feather stems that were covering every piece. UGH! They obviously don't serve quality food as after I pulled off the grease soaked skin, the meat was 1/2 slimy fat. Do youself a big favor and don't waste good money on this disgusting food.

I had breakfast here with one of my colleagues during our weekend meeting very near by. It was the usual diner breakfast. The sausage links were huge, not the pencil-like links at other breakfast joints. The service was friendly and efficient. Everything was as expected. The interior is clean, but the decor is dated. +1 for good sausage -1 for the dated decor. = 3 star overall

Not much to write about here. Same old standard diner fare. A place to get a quick (albiet ordinary) bite to eat before you run off to the airport.

We used to go to the Spires in Rancho pretty frequently, so when it closed it was a huge bummer for us. I loved going there because not only was it super family friendly (we've got two little boys), but the food was always great. One Friday night my husband suggested we go to the Ontario location and just like that......I had my old "friend" back! The service was excellent. Our waitress was as friendly as could be, and made sure to come back and check on us several times throughout the meal. My hubby ordered the ground beef steak, and the kids shared an adult fish and chips plate, which came with a good-sized salad, steamed veggies and a bread option. They also split an order of clam chowder, their favorite. I ordered what I always order from Spires....the fish and chips special (same as what the kids ordered and shared). Can I just tell you how much I ADORE THEIR FISH AND CHIPS!?? I am kind of a freak about fish & chips, and order them wherever I can. My all-time favorite used to be at a restaurant in Cambria, CA, which we visited every year. But the last time we went I was so disappointed to find that they must have changed ownership or something, because it was awful. Okay, so my local favorite fish and chips places are at Red Robin and Spires. Just as I recalled, they were sooo crispy on the outside (I think they must use panko in their breading), and light, moist and flaky on the inside. Mmmm! There is a tartar-dill sauce that accompanies the fish and it's to die for. My kids love it, too. My hubby wasn't too impressed with his ground beef steak because he said it was too bland for his taste. Yes, the decor is dated but the place was clean, and had lots of natural lighting, so it was charming without being stale or too "diner-y". Oh! I almost forgot to add that if you go, you HAVE to order the chocolate pudding for dessert. It is sooo good!!

The good: If you're looking for a great value for breakfast, this is the place. They have a lot of breakfast specials which run as cheap as 3.99. The food itself is decent, just nothing special. The bad: Our waitress got our order wrong. This wasn't surprising as she wasn't that attentive. She looked like she had other things on her mind. The ugly: The dreaded Triple D (dated dirty decor).

So, there I was, in the lovely town of Ontario, California. Hmmm. Where to eat? I felt kind of picky so I walked around looking for restaurants. I ended up at Spires and actually enjoyed the special they were having. The special was a chicken fettucine alfredo dish for about 7.99. They gave huge portions and it also came with jello. It came with a soup or salad too. The waiter was very attentive and was really into his job. So, thanks Spires for your great service. Well, that's it for this review. Hope you try out the Spires specials.......

Really bad service! The waitress took forever to bring us our food, and the food wasn't even hot or nearly warm when it arrived. The couple beside us even asked to have their food warmed up!! No refills and not even a check up if we needed anything. She even forgot my toast, I told the manager about the service we received and all he did was take $1.00 off our meal! The portions were small and the waffles were not big and fluffy... my husband said they were as thin as an Eggo Waffle! Mother's Day breakfast, there weren't many people here and still horrible service!

[Guest reviewer: Kevin's Dad] Old school diner featuring efficient service, ample selection, tasty food, and large portions. want more details??? MSG makes people addicted to chinese food. But I'm at a loss at what makes me addicted to this restaurant! I've brought my wife here twice in the past week... and we live 6 hours away (two separate trips south for a bridge tourney and family reunion)! What is the draw? Is it the friendly service? The waiter remembered me from last week and even laughed at my cheesy jokes. Smart move... 25% tip. Or could it be the size of the meal? If you skip the doggy bag, then you might need to adjust the steering wheel to provide ample room for your distended stomach. Or maybe it is the ice cream sundaes... the proverbial cherry on top! Other tidbits... police officers drinking a cup of joe at the counter--good sign for two reasons: police officers are somewhat finicky about their coffee and counter meal... so you can trust the quality. And safety ain't an issue... (you've seen Pulp Fiction). bouncy booth seating to keep you hovering above the table with a birds' eye view of dinner. And nightly specials... Thursday night featured a sirloin wrapped in bacon with a piping hot baked potato, full salad, garlic bread and dessert for eight bones (but you gotta pay an extra buck to upgrade to the sundae). The only challenge... driving past the In 'n Out burger to reach this restaurant. It is definitely worth it!

For those feeling the pinch in the wallet and like to dine to out but find yourself saying everything is to expensive for too little food or overpriced food, then this is spot for you! No coupon necessary, daily specials which include soup, salad, and dessert with the meal for around $8. Too bad the Monrovia location closed and now I have to make a trip to Ontario, but well worth it.

I used to go to the one in Monrovia and was so sad to see it had closed. :( I was shopping at the outlets and decided to check this place out. My mom and I loved their fried zucchini sticks back in the day. I am happy to say that they still are the best things ever! The service was good. No complaints. I just hope this place stays around.

Our local spires (Monrovia) closed about a year ago. Needless to say, we were not very happy about it. Sooooo... we were out in Ontario one day and low and behold, we drive pass a Spires! We were actually on our way to somewhere else, but, I commented to my husband, I think we have to go there for Lunch! And that we did. Our waitress (Sherrie) was so kind. She did tell us that the Spires in Monrovia closed because of the increase of the rent that the property owners were going to charge. We were really glad to hear that Spires DID NOT go out of business completely. We do miss it in our area, but, we know where to go to get out Spires Fix now. Only 20 miles away! OH, I almost forgot to mention the prices! They have gone DOWN! On their menu it states, "Gas Prices are down, and so are our prices"! It was good to see someone actually "lowering" their prices for a change...
