Napkins was recommended to try for a Downtown Napa hot spot. I had lunch here and everything was spectacular. From the ambiance, decor, service to the dishes ordered, all were wonderful. Our server Rebecca (Becky) offered impeccable service and was great at suggesting various dishes for our appetite. The oysters were very fresh and not too salty. The calamari was cooked to the right level of crispyness and both the Brisket and Salmon Sandwiches were delicious with the right amounts of dressing and the coleslaw balanced out the flavors. Will definitely return for dinner or a late night event.

I came to Napkins because Napa is in desperate need of some night life a side of the famously known and depressing Downtown Joes. There is a long line sometimes, but what cool club where there is dancing and a DJ doesn't have that. Better than driving all the way to the city. Great trendy place, unique drinks and cool decor.

My boyfriend and I spent our first 4th of July together in beautiful Napa. We decided to eat at Napkins Bar and Grill. I had the ahi tuna salad and my boyfriend had the habanero honey wings. Our server was amazing! Her name was Sarah. Always checked on us and great service. Food was awesome and recommend this place to anyone who likes great food and nice scenery.

Food was good...Nothing amazing( Underwhelming). We had the worst service ever, kinda put a damper on the evening. Will never go back! I believe there are too many restaurants in Napa to reward mediocrity with my $$$. Hope this helps.....

Props to Magali for handling my group in the back room on my girlfriend's bachelorette! We had a ball. We were all giggles and smiles! She even send a free drink! (It mysteriously appeared from the bar) The food was bomb. Order the queso fundudo (spelling?!) and the cornbread! The chicken salad and mac n cheese is to die for too! We stayed for napkin nights and DUH we danced our socks off! Lol too turnt. The DJ was awesome. Surprisingly the music wasn't super vulgar, and I like that. He kept it somewhat classy. Of course the scene was packed. Of course I ran into tipsy fools. But security was on deck. And everything was super controlled. I'll be back napkins. Especially for din din.

We walked by this spot several times before settling on giving it a try. During those passes I thought any restaurant named napkins had to be suspect; I should have listened to my gut. We ordered the queso something rather with their house made chorizo and the brisket sandwich. The queso whatever was basically melted chess and tortilla chips with some hamburger helper they were trying to pass off as chorizo. There wasn't even a sprinkling of scallions on top; it was a tour de grease, nothing more. The brisket sandwich was slightly better than a McRib. Lots of sauce, but all savory. No sweet, no acid, no textural contrasts, but they do put some wilting spring mix on the side. Our server only became friendly towards the end of the meal when it was clear they were angling for a good tip. This looks like a very fun place to drink, but given it's location, there's no reason to eat there.

I have had nothing but phenomenal experiences at Napkins. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The owner is always present and genuinely loves the restaurant and the customer. You'll immediately feel welcomed and appreciated. Everything I've had has been delicious! The Achiote chicken sandwich was absolutely fabulous. The happy hour menu was excellent. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat and there is always a lot going on. You'll enjoy your experience at Napkins!

"Vukasuan" insisted, with a huge smile and a lift of his thick, sexy eyebrows, that I could only get my free, sweet cornbread for a good review. Here for a quick lunch, I can say it was a great start to offer me a chilled pint glass for my hard cider. One of FOUR Possible kinds of cider. Already my kind of restaurant. Now, I love cornbread, so offering me FREE cornbread: EXTRA STAR!! I had a Caesar salad, dressing on the side, with chicken. The chicken was fresh and perfectly cooked; tender and flavorful, not salty. Manchego cheese is my favorite: could EVERYONE please start using it, instead of Parmesan? And why have I never had sliced black radishes? YUM. Finally: the cornbread. Grilled. With honey butter on the side, and chunks of sweet corn and herbs in it. DEEELISH. The Eagles' Hotel California came on. Followed by some Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. Boy am I happy here. You should try it!

Decided to come back to try their brunch! And it's definitely worth it. Prior to coming in - I found a deal on groupon for $25 for $50 worth of food for dinner. Yes, for dinner. But I decided to call them to ask if I can use it for their brunch and it was totally fine! This place is easy to find. Located in Downtown Napa along side all the other delicious restaurants right by the water. Definitely a good spot. The customer service was great and the ambiance of the location is nice. The prices were pretty decent as well. Typical prices in the Napa area. We decided to try out their Smoked Salmon ( $14)Spinach Omelette ($13) and their burger ($14). All 3 plates were delicious! Our bill ended up coming out to $50.76 with our coffee. But with the use of our handy groupon deal... We pretty much only paid $30 with tip! Good deal right? I say grab that groupon deal and check this place out! You won't be disappointed.

I love this place. Love their food and drinks. Ali is so awesome. The staff is so awesome. Music on the weekends is iffy, but that's just me, I'm picky. Draws a wide range of ethnicity, both locals and tourists. Always had a great time here with my friends and family.

Definitely check in and get the free corn bread. actually, pay for it if you have to. Its deliciously sweet and with wonderful corn bits. i also got the queso fundido - made with real cheese, not cheese whiz. It was a little hard to eat as it cooled off because it got hard. The burger was cooked perfectly, as was the seasonal vegetables. (yay for healthy vegetables!) They also have a great beer and wine menu. I would definitely come back, especially to watch something on the many tv's in the place.

My friend and I decided to go on an impromptu trip to Napa after church. Since we were both starving, we decided to dine at this restaurant before going wine tasting. She and my other friends have eaten here in the past, but it was my first time dining here. I'm very impressed with the service we received here. We had Vukasin as our waiter and he was amazing! He was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I loved how he gave us refills on our endless mimosas before our glasses were empty. The food here is delectable. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which is basically heaven on a plate. It was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. I seriously couldn't get over how delicious the food was here! I highly recommend ordering the endless mimosas if you plan on drinking 2+ glasses (we ended up drinking 5 by the way). I really look forward to dining here again and trying their other items, especially their dessert.

Great place to eat! Service was excellent right from the start. Food was 100% delicious, and the prices were fair. I would recommend this place to everyone, and would absolutely come back!

My wife and I had dinner at Napkins Bar & Grill on September 13, 2015. The food was fine, however my credit card was charged twice for the meal. The bank which issued the card confirmed the double charge and I have a printout of my bank statement which documents the double charge. On the 14th I spoke with the owner and manager, Ali, on the telephone to discuss the problem. His response was completely unacceptable. Ali stated there is nothing we can do about the double charge because our computer system does not allow us to charge twice for the same meal. (In other words, you are lying) Ali had the restaurant's controller join the telephone conversation. He referred me to my bank to solve the problem, and stated if that did not work he could contact the computer processing company that Napkins Bar & Grill uses. When I insisted that the problem was caused by Napkins and Napkins should solve it, he hung up on me. That response was outrageous. This is the worst service I have ever received from a restaurant. On the very rare cases in my lifetime when I have ever had a problem with service in a restaurant , the manager or owner has always been very professional and resolved the issue promptly and fairly. Now my only option is to contact my bank to protest the double charge. I will never have another meal at Napkins Bar and Grill. Eugene J.

Soooo..... Our waitress was very nice however food was mediocre, mixed drinks were not that great and service was slow. I don't think I would come back....

3rd visit - Our server was great ( I wish I got her name ) we visited mid day so it was slow but I like their atmosphere: relaxed, causal and up beat. Drinks were always full and server checked in on us several times. We decided to do a bunch of appetizers Food: wings, Caesar salad, calamari, shrimp bisque soup (special), flan and chocolate cake. I love the avocado dipping sauce with wings so good and they have a different sauce: habanero. The shrimp bisque soup was soo good :) and the chocolate cake :) Everything else was great!

I can't give enough stars to Kate for her consistently excellent service. I would give her ten stars if I could. She is always super nice with a great sense of humor. The food is always good. My favorites are the fish tostadas and lamb sliders and of course the yummy cocktails. She is definitely the best at what she does!. I LOOOOOVE KATE!!!!! Can't wait to see her again at Napkins! Thank you Kate!!!!! Anya

First time visiting and it did not disappoint! Our waiter was amazing. The best thing on the menu was the meatballs- omg shiitake mushrooms and soy ginger sauce. TO DIE FOR. the brunch menu was great because it had a great assortment of lunch and breakfast items. I definitely will go back and try out the dinner menu!!

The person who looked like the manager or possibly owner took real good care of me and 8 other girls in the party. He threw in two more plates of cornbread with the free cornbread deal you get when you checkin. I didn't even have to ask! He made sure that they didnt accidentally charge us extra for them. But Oh my, the food tastes sooooo good here. It can be pricey, but it is so worth it. My pork chop was nice and juicy. The mashed potatoes were so flavorful, as well as the veggies. I don't like brussel sprouts, but because of them, I like them now.

Completely surprised by how great this place is. I still don't like the name, none of us Napans call ourselves Napkins. Also makes me think of a sanitary napkin sometimes. I've often seen a line of pp waiting for restaurants around here while Napkins was the only place that was half empty. We came in with our no expectations, but found they have the best Bloody Mary's ever and each appetizer, each entree, the dessert-everything was amazing. The staff is quick, friendly and efficient and knowledgeable. Will be back for sure!

  • Stephanie S.

Delicious burger- definitely use the yelp check in for the free cornbread! It's delicious! We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, and while it was tasty, it was a really small portion for $9. Overall, great place for burgers and drinks and a nice location in downtown Napa.

I ordered a well vodka red bull, it came to $20.00. Not a grey goose vodka red bull. This place is ridiculous. Not enough of a strong word to describe this place. The bartender acted as if he was a scientist that had this gift to splice DNA, or something. He is smug and a complete ignoramus!!! Total jackass! I will never comeback here again.

I've always seen Napkins from the outside and was a place that I always wanted to go to. The restaurant is open with both indoor and outside seating, a bar and two full flat screen tvs, We came for dinner on a Weds night and surprisingly it was somewhat full. You could still get a table but I had made reservations. I was happy to see today's tap of the month was Hell or High Watermelon Wheat from 21st Amendment. A very nice summer wheat. We checked in and got the free corn bread which was delicious. I was thinking this is a great start! For an appetizer, we got the crispy calamari, which we always seem to get because our children like it. It was served with on top of an arugula salad, Like the corn bread, there was nothing left on the plate after we were done. My wife ordered the Wagyu Beef Brisket sandwich and I had the Citrus Habanero Mary's Organic Chicken. I was expecting something from KFC, but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived at the table. It was a quarter chicken, perfectly pan fried with carrots and mashed potatoes. I will admit the citrus habanero sauce was good, but definitely had a kick to it. My wife enjoyed her Wagyu Beef Brisket sandwich. I can't say enough about our waiter, Vukasin. We lost track how many times he came by to check on us throughout the evening. Maybe it was his great service, but he looked familiar to us. It turns out he was our waiter when we had dinner at Tarla, (Upon reading my review of Tarla, I also mentioned Vukasin and his great service.) I learned that the people who own Tarla also own Napkins. So it is no surprise that the food and service here is top notch just like Tarla. I thought for a bar and grill it was a bit pricey, I came here thinking hamburger and fries, but Napkins is much more and worth checking out. I saw there is a Happy Hour and read some good reviews about brunch so more reason to go back.

I have been here 4 times now and I cant wait to go back! The food is always amazing and the service is just as amazing as the food. I have met the owner Ali twice now and he is absolutely charming and both times he made sure I left happy. One of the most amazing servers around is Miss Becky! She knows her stuff and is very attentive and will make sure you are having a great time! I've had another server here, Christian. he is just as great and so friendly. It's always such a great time in this place! If you're free on a Sunday I suggest grabbing a couple of friends and bringing them for the bottomless mimosas and brunch. Only $12.00 gets you unlimited mimosas until I think 2 or 3pm and for another $15.00 you can add an amazing meal to that. These are some of the best prices you can get right in downtown napa. WooHoo, go NAPKINS, I will for sure be back in and soon.

Just got done with a conference and was looking for a great place to eat. Was not disappointed with this place. The staff (especially Madeline) was very informative and made our experience wonderful. If you have a chance to come for happy hour you'll be in for a treat. Napkin wings were seasoned to perfection and the nachos were perfect for sharing. For the main course we had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and the wagyu beef brisket. The fried chicken was lightly battered and went great with our wine selection and the wagyu was so well cooked that it fell of the bone. Highly suggest this place for anyone looking for a great atmosphere and stand out foot!

Napkins has it all; I went there a few nights ago with friends for their amazing happy hour. We started with a glass of bubbles and had a few bites. We ordered the Spanish Caesar and the guacamole plate and they were both great! We decides to stay for dinner and enjoyed a delicious hamburger with crispy onions and a plate of shrimp pasta, which was cooked perfectly. We also tried a couple desserts: the flourless chocolate cake, which was superb, and the deep dish chocolate chip cookie- both are a must for chocolate lovers!!! Overall, the ambiance is great, the service is amazing and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice evening out with friends in Napa.

We had an AMAZING experience at Napkins. This was our firsts time here and in Napa as a whole and we had the best service! First with the host staff which sat us and made us comfortable. They found a table where we could bring our dog and it was perfect. Our servers Rosa And Ethan were more than we could ask for. This will definitely become a standard spot for our future travels. Good was amazing too. I recommend the Queso with chorizo.

Came here for a bachelorette party because Rutherford grill was packed. As soon as we walked in it smelt like stinky feet all of us looked at each other and plugged our noses lol. Probably some nasty cheese that made the entire building smell foul. We had a large party but it took forever to get our food. The mac n cheese was not good and the chicken sandwich was just ok. It looked more like a diner then a nice place to go eat for a bachelorette party, I felt bad for the bride actually. I will not be coming back here.

If I could post 6 stars I would - we ordered 8 menu items in addition to drinks - everything was exceptional. Lamb burger sliders were perfectly cooked and the cornbread was the best we ever had.The service was A+ which completely complimented a wonderful meal!

So, my wife and I are Napa locals and tonight we had a date night and decided to try Napkins Restaurant for the very first time and let me tell you, we were completely impressed! I ordered the organic herb habanero chicken which was outstanding, moist, flavorful, and paired well with the fresh whipped mashed potatoes and steamed with a semi sweet sauce over them. My wife had the Fish Tostada which was of really fresh salmon, with really flavorful fresh vegetable toppings. She really enjoyed it! The entire dining experience was out of this world and the service was the best we've experienced in Napa! We ordered the double lemon cheesecake to take home for dessert! We highly recommend dining at Napkins, you'll be in for a real treat!

The service here is amazing and the food extremely good. I came here on a Saturday night with a group of 6 and was really impressed by the quality of the wait staff. Despite the place being busy we always had prompt assistance. The cocktails are really good. The manhattan and the sangria were real winners. I had the linguini with clams which was served in a lovely wine sauce. The steak was also a favorite with our group. I'd definitely come here again, great dinner spot.

Had a great experience here! We came for lunch during happy hour, the server was very polite, friendly, and helpful. She advised us on what to order. We ordered house burger which was one of the best burgers I have tasted. Overall, friendly atmosphere, great service, presentable and delicious food all that for great prices. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Hey this place is great! Even better than the food, drinks and nightlife is a server named Becky who can make any experience even better! Yes, the food is great. They aren't trying to put food out that is intimidating or overly plated. Though the presentation, quality and taste is always on point. They also have a great bar and everyone seems really friendly. If you are looking for fun you can also stay late on a Friday or Saturday night and dance the night away with their DJ. Its just a great place for Downtown Napa.

I went here for lunch a little while ago and it was so good! I just ordered a hamburger and I was pleasantly surprised. It was probably the best burger I've ever had! I've didn't try anything else on their menu but what the other people at my table were having looked really good! The waiters were all really nice too. I think everyone who lives in Napa or visits needs to come here at least once!

We stopped by for after dinner drinks and had a wondeful time. Was great to sit outside and see the passerby's in Napa. The manager, Ari, was extremely kind and timely. Really enjoyed how he helped make our experience there A-Class.

I just had the happy hour burger and it was delicious! The burger is HUGE and it has such a different taste than every other burger. The arugula really takes it to another level. I also enjoyed a glass of the Prosecco and the Sunrise and both were excellent. I overheard the owner talking about a slight remodel so I'm excited to come back with the updated ambiance. Definitely a great place to come for a date or even just with a few friends. Recommend!

Stopped in here based on the recommendation of my hotel desk staff for a "place with gluten free food that's still open at 9:30pm." Napkins was the recommendation. After walking here from the hotel, I had the mission of picking up a late dinner for myself and my fiancée. For the desk staff at my hotel, this is an awful recommendation for gluten free dining. For me, I put confidence in this business to be able to cater to my needs after looking at their menu with few options without gluten. I ordered the buffalo sliders and a side of cheddar macaroni and cheese for my fiancée with "intestines of steel" (at least compared to mine). She seemed to like both items. Since my days of eating rusty screws and "wheaty" things without consequences are far behind me, I took the cautious route of ordering the queso with corn chips and the habanero chicken, asking the bartender to check with the kitchen staff, like a good gluten free boy, to check for hidden ingredients. The kitchen staff made the bartender aware there was soy sauce in the chicken sauce. The bartender said they'd put it on the side. Knowing there wasn't a chance on Earth I'd use the sauce, I asked him to just hold it. The side sauce was put in your "run-of-the-mill" flimsy side sauce container in the same to-go container as the chicken. The probability of the sauce remaining in the container was extremely low. 2 blocks later, I arrived at my hotel, and to my disappointment, the side sauce was now a part of my chicken. Thus, my confidence in plastic side containers is at the same level as novelty condoms sold at gas stations. I'm likely going to learn the lesson that their corn chips come from a fryer shared with some of their breaded and fried menu items in short time. I have a fresh anger of my experience and of the newly decorative chicken that adorns my hotel room. If my request to hold the sauce had been honored, that could have been saved. I go to great lengths to stay free of gluten. I'm not fashionable enough to be trendy and too stubborn to willingly give up beer without reason. I won't go into details you can find on WebMD about my condition. When someone has any request related to diet please just honor it - the person with the request hates having the condition that leads them to ask in the first place.

Honestly, we only came here because every other restaurant nearby was packed. We had a fun, booze filled day on our wine tour and really had no intentions on driving elsewhere. Napkins had maybe 3/4 of the vicinity filled so we were like, "Why not? Let's just check it out since everything in Napa so far has been good." WRONG. I believe they might have been short staffed because our waiter barely checked on us... Anyways! We ordered the guacamole and were given a super small amount of chips. We asked for chips 3 separate times before we got them. What's even funnier is that we got it at the end our meal when it was one of the first things to be brought out. My friend ordered the side of Mac and cheese as well. I completely advise you not to get it. Not only did she pull out the longest hair out of her mouth, but it tastes like plain milk... with macaroni in it. Also, i ordered the shrimp and grits. He repeated the order TWICE and I said, "Oh and the shrimp and grits please!" TWICE! After he acknowledged me, he still couldn't remember the shrimp and grits. All our food came out... but no shrimp and grits. I could tell he forgot because of how he was talking to his food runner. SMH. I kept asking for it throughout the meal and as I was ordering. Like... are you serious? The manager knew that we weren't having a good time because the food and service was awful! He was kind enough to take the Mac and cheese and the shrimp and grits off our bill. If only we saw that service as we were dining in. I do not recommend this place under any circumstances.

I don't know if Napa Valley is famous for its nightlife but this was a laid-back place with club music. There is a five dollar cover. Props to the bouncer who is a giant teddy bear and really looks out for the ladies.

I came across Napkin's from my new friends who live in the area. Bar: I must say that the bartender was very friendly when he found out we're not from the area. He kept me and my friend company the whole time we're at the bar. Hard to find friendly bartenders in my town these days so I guess I must come back whenever there's a chance. Drinks: Too bad I didn't get to try any of the signatures and this should be one of the reasons why I should come back. Food: French fries is a MUST try here. It went well with our champagne. Best fries I've ever tried!!! :D

Very nice trendy spot. Came here for lunch with my daughter. We shared an ordered of their bison sliders and Mac and cheese. Also got one (they gave two) sweet cornbreads for checking into Yelp! Perfect amount of food.... Tasty and came really fast. Our server Vukasin was awesome! I will return to try their cocktails and other items on the menu.

I tried a few different items here: -Brussels sprouts with apples -French fries -Wisconsin fried cheese curds -Bison sliders Everything was good to great and I enjoyed the somewhat quirky menu. This is a good option for American food in a vibrant and fun setting.

Terrible! Absolutely terrible. The security is a joke. I came up from SD for the weekend. It was a Saturday night and we walked up at about 11:45pm when security announced they were at capacity and will not be letting more people in. I asked for a head count and the front door security said 119. I asked to see his counter and he said it was in his head and reinstated no more people will be admitted. All the security looked clueless. If you come here, come early or expect to be turned away. Management of this business definitely needs improvements.

I went for lunch with a friend on a Thursday afternoon. A chicken sandwich that is the size of maybe a small over dressed softball, but in sandwich form, costs $13. Just the sandwich nothing else. For an additional dollar you can add a soup or salad for the lunch special and get not that great, possibly bagged ceasar salad that is served on the same plate as the sandwich, so it's a side salad. I would try a different place if you could.

Dining at Napkins has been a great experience every time I've been!! They have a great happy hour menu with $5 glasses of Prosecco and amazing macaroni and cheese!! I recently dined there for the Napa Smith Brewery food and beer pairing. Everything was beyond amazing! The first course was a Pilsner paired with a butter lettuce salad with pancetta. Second course was an Amber Ale paired with pork & chicken apple sausage (yum!!). Third course (and my favorite) was the Golden Gate IPA paired with hoisin marinated spare ribs --- the meat practically fell off the bone! And the fourth course was a delicious Bonfire stout paired with the most decadent flourless chocolate cake I've ever experienced! I've actually been back a few times just for that dessert ;) The staff is always so kind and welcoming each time I come here with friends. Their outdoor dining is great this time of year. They're located in a lovely part of downtown with views of the Veteran's Park. I would also have to recommend the B52 coffee! One of the best Irish coffees in Napa :)

Came with a group of 20-25 ladies! Most of the places here in napa get pretty shocked with such a large group of people, but this place handled us like a charm! They have Great food, drinks, and the customer service was great! We also go to meet the owner, Ali, and he was awesome hanging out with us and everything! What I know is if the owner is fun = the staff is fun = fun place to be in downtown napa

Fun sports bar. Got to catch up on a couple games between wine tastings. A good variety on their menu with a great happy hour selction. The habanero wings were great and the avocado dipping sauce was so good I wanted to drink it straight. Our bartender/server Sarah had good recommendations and was attentive. Good place to grab a bite!

Great restaurant and ambient. I was sitting on the bar and the bartender service was great. Her suggestions were good. I had the meatballs and my friend the wings. Love the suggestion to dip the bread in the meatballs and it was delicious!! We didn't have dinner but we have dessert. We had the lemmon cheesecake, it was ok, not mesmerizing. Overall great restaurant!!!

I am so delighted to say that I have had two of the best nights of my life at Napkins. I moved to Napa knowing that it was "touristy" and I wasn't expecting it to have much night life other than window shopping. I was thrilled when I heard that Napkins opened up for dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. I was treated like royalty. The owner was so polite to me and my friend. The DJ was on point. But what was over the top wonderful was the security team. Mike and KC were the best part of my night. They told me life stories and included me in their gang. They were genuinely concerned about the well-being of all guests and radiated love. :) I will be returning to Napkins just so I can interact with the amazing security team. Such a wonderful place!

Absolutely loved Napkins! Exceptional food and service! The hostess and wait staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. One of the waiters (or possibly a manager/owner) came to our table very shortly after our food arrived to ask if everything was to our liking and he also kindly engaged in a brief conversation to see if we were having a good day, visiting or locals etc...Just a super sweet gesture but also very professional. Greatly appreciated attention. The food was exquisitely prepared and presented. We had the Spanish Caesar Salad, Golden and Red Beet Salad, White Cheddar Mac & Cheese and of course we had to have the Sea Salt French Fries too!! All excellent choices! I highly recommend Napkins, impeccable service, food and ambiance, it's a sure hit!

We love Napkins: Great location in downtown Napa, great outdoor seating, and great service. We usually come here for drinks at night, and today was our first venture for brunch. You can't beat the endless mimosas and peach bellinis. Vukasin and Rosa were amazing and made our brunch experience very enjoyable. We will be definitely be back!

Amazing service by our courteous and knowledgable server, Christian!! Entrée menu not as extensive as their wine list...haha, but it is Napa Valley. :) No need for lots of options with perfection like their Brisket Sandwich and Ahi Tuna Salad! (SO good!) The food and the service made us wish we lived closer!

  • Gergana N.

I have been there at least 6-7 times different days at different times. DJ night is fun. I personally prefer to sit at the bar as Kate is very attentive. I have tried almost everything on the menu. Love the Ahi tuna salad and the vegetable wellington. I am not fan of the filet mignon and the burgers as no matter how specific I am on VERY WELL DONE the kitchen still leaves it at medium rare. Other than that food and service are great. Looove the cheesecake!

I am so glad that Napkins opened in downtown Napa this year. This has become my go to place for a nice dinner out with my husband. What I love about this place is that you get incredible Napa cuisine for a very reasonable price and it is not too fancy or too over the top. When I get off work late and don't feel like cooking, Napkins is my choice of where to go because their menu has great items, I especially love the chicken on the dinner menu as well as the Caesar salad. Napkins also has a fun ambiance with TVs to catch the game or to meet friends at the bar with the great wine list and delicious cocktails.

Embarassment of an establishment. Called this morning to make a reservation for dinner. The lady on the phone said her name was Joanna and said her computer was messing up and for us to tell Olly the owner that we had made a reservation with her. When we showed up, everyone was extremely rude including the owner Olly who we ended up speaking to. He said our reservation never existed and acted like we shouldn't even be standing there. We went across the street and had a great time. Not worth giving them your business.

Came into town for a nice get a way, so didnt know the area. The B&B we were staying at suggested a late dinner at Napkins. Figured the locals would know. When we arrived it was about 80% full security gaurd Standing in doorway. Wasnt sure do we check in with him since there was no one around? Waited at the counter for 5 minutes till a gentleman asked if he could help. "Two for dinner please". He looks around grabs a waiteress annd instructs her to clean a table. Figured "Hey we're moving now". Waitress walks over to the table picks up the tip, then walks away. After 5 more minutes, the gentleman (maybe manager) comes by sees us still standing there and sees the table isnt cleared, grabs another Gal and asks her to clean it. She takes a few items off, then starts taking photos of the couple next the table. Finishes photo session and walks away without finishing cleaning. Another 5 minutes 2nd girl returns cleans rest of items, but doesnt wipe it off. Finally 5 more mintes pass and original gentleman has someone take us to table, as someone quickly wipes it off. My girlfriend seats down into a pile of lettuce and cheese left on seat....tells the waitress who brings over a soaking wet towel wipes it up and leaves a puddle on the seat. That was enough for us! Service Fail and didnt even get to a glass of water after 25 mintes.....

Oh Napkins... I feel bad for these guys because they're nice enough. But, it's clear that they aren't Napa tier restaurateurs. The food is whatever, the service is spotty at best, and the space, while hilarious and out of place, is filthy. I do appreciate that they renovated the building and invested in downtown Napa but!...Napkins is just out of sorts..and, kinda scummy...

First time there, went for brunch. Great location and good food, but weird atmosphere. Maybe it just isn't my style, but it feels a little out of place for Napa. In my husband's words "It's like a Vegas hotel restaurant", which in my opinion isn't what one would come to Napa for. The hostess was swatting flies inside just a few feet from our table with an electric zapper. When we asked the waiter about their bacon he compared it to Subway's. I expected better.

Came here on a Sunday for a quick bite at lunch time and was pleasantly surprised with everything. Sat at the bar and started off with the cornbread and she had the beet salad. Both were very good. The cornbread came with a honey butter and it was tasty sweet. Reminded me of a succulent French toast stick. She said the salad was awesome. Rarely does she like beet salad with blue cheese but it was the perfect amount and the Cabernet reduction was delicious. We then followed it up with the wagyu brisket sandwich and it was super tasty. The fried onions made the sandwich have perfect texture (which is rare for me to compliment seeing I despise onions) and the ciabatta bread was tenderly fresh, Most surprising was the side salad. Generally I don't like those simple salads but the dressing was perfect complement to the salad. Finally the bartender was great. Shared some samples of the beer with us and I ended up ordering the hefeweizen because it was great. It was pretty quiet when we walked in but he made it a point to be attentive. And the delicious food was quickly delivered. Definitely will make it here the next time I am in downtown napa. I couldn't find a fault with anything and therefore I gave it a rare five star review.

During our trip to Napa, we enjoyed Happy Hour at Napkins and loved it! The restaurant came highly recommended and we are so glad we got to go there. We had an excellent dinner tonight: Artichoke appetizer had an incredible flavor! Light, perfect appetizer! I had the SalmonTostada...out of this world. Wonderful smokey flavor, not too much cilantro in the cabbage slaw. Wonderful balance of flavors. My husband was in the mood for his all time favorite, buffalo sliders. New chef is perfect! Best restaurant and bar!

We ate at Napkins for the first time on a Wednesday night.. We were greeted immediately on entering and ushered to a table. The owner was at the front door. The service was terrific. My hamburger was the best I've had in Napa. It rivals the Norman Rose lamburger. My husband had the Vegetable Wellington, which was also terrific. The free corkage let us bring a lovely bottle of wine, which kept the price down. I suspect the owner has heard the bad local word of mouth and read the bad Yelp and other reviews. He knows what he is doing at Tarla and is fixing whatever issues this place had. Based on last night, Napkins is at the level of ZuZu, Bounty Hunter, Norman Rose,Ca Momi, C'Casa and the other great casual dining choices in Napa. It will make decisions about dining out very tough. We will definitely be back to try the other tantalizing menu choices.

I give napkins 1 star... they are still new and in my opinion opened waaayyy too soon. Service was slow, our apps got to us before our drinks did- one of us even had an iced tea! The menu looked and sounded good, but we were pretty disappointed in presence and size. Plates were very small and asked too much money for what you got oh, and they were out of 2 items we wanted to try. That's a big mistake when you're a new restaurant anywhere- makes it seem like that's all they made for the night and don't make things fresh to order. BUT they are a brand new restaurant. My pork chop came raw and bloody in the middle and I was served my plate at least 10 minutes after everyone else received theirs. Eeeek. I was extremely unhappy when it took our server another 10 minutes to see how our meal was for the first time the whole visit, and especially when I had to send it back on the grill and that took the whole time to order another drink and for my guests to finish their meals. Fries were cold that we shard at the table and bland. Sandwiches were small. Service was confused on how to quality check a table and make the customer feel welcome. Overall, the decor is neat being I'm a Napa native but the seating is AWFUL. We had a group of 4 and whenever we got up to use the restroom, etc. our asses rubbed on the table next to us. Very pleasant I'm sure while you're trying to eat-NOT. We brought a bottle of Schramsberg and the server charged us a bottle they had on the menu (which was not the same one) and then they charged us for an addition meal we didn't have. The manager came around to greet us and ask about how we heard, etc. He ended up comping us my pork chop, 2 drinks and fixing the corkage fee but it is not enough to change the whole experience and we all agreed we won't to go back for a looooonnnngggggg time. They need some help overall.

It's a cool swank set up and overall, a fun experience. We were seated promptly. The jalepeno corn bread was delicious! Along with that we shared a salad, the rib eye steak and burger. Both were great, staff was really attentive. Looking forward to going back to try out the other items!

The ambiance, menu and reviews looked great. Too bad we had to wait over an hour to be seated. Oh ok it's a Saturday a busy night but to wait an hour and a half for your food is completely unacceptable. The only quick thing they offered was how quickly they filled your water glass. After the hour mark we asked about the status of our food and we were told it was on its way out. Thirty minutes later, still no food. We ended up leaving. Will never go back.

  • Bradley O.

Disclaimer - did eat with a large party on a Saturday night (greater than 15 people)...that said, the food was lackluster, drinks were ok, but the service was not very good at all. When we asked a server which items were gluten free, the answer was essentially "this, that, and this - without bread" (which was not only an incomplete answer, but also sort of rude - these are food allergies, people!). For dinner in Napa, there are many better options along Main street (even right next door on both sides). Would not recommend finishing your day of excellent wine tasting at this spot. Bummer.

  • Davi D.

I've read some of the reviews here and cannot say I have had the same experience. I've have been here 3 times already and like it a lot: 1) it's absolutely what downtown Napa needed. 2) The food is fairly creative and the ingredients seem great - I liked everything I had (not out of this world, but very good), 3) The atmosphere is great, 4) The wine list is very accessible - and the corkage is very generous, 5) The staff is very good - from the friendly receptionist to the servers and bartenders (not everyone but most). They have definitely had growing pains and they have been visible. But one has to realize that such is the case with every new restaurant and the right thing to do is give them a chance. And I have. Plan on going back.

Perfect bar staff should be able to accommodate scotch drinkers, wine aficionados, and good old fashioned hard booze drinkers! Check! Perfect menu should offer exceptionally prepared variety catering to all palates. Check! Perfect all round customer service should offer attentive staff from runners to wait staff to managers/owners. Check! I've been twice. I've loved it twice. Food is amazing. People are delightful. Can't wait to show up thrice! Napa, you lucky bitch, you!!

The staff is so poorly trained. Our waitress was so awkward and seemed like she had never worked anywhere that people had more than $10 to spend on a meal. They were out of the appetizer we wanted and it was only 7:00.

Not terribly impressed with this place. We arrived on a Friday night around 5:30 and fortunately there was no wait. But the moment we sat down, we felt constantly pressured to hurry through our meal. During every course, the waitstaff attempted to take out plate, as we were actively eating and there was still food left on the plate. The food was decent but a little on the greasy spoon side. The only big plus is free corkage (the waiter threw the cork away without asking - a big no no here in wine country). Like I said, not impressed.

Great location and ambiance. Wasn't impressed by the food or service but hoping they will improve with time. We had the fried chicken and cheeseburger .. Both were blah. We did love the French fries tho! Scallops appetizer was good but not worth the price for two. Service was slow. Might give it one more try in a few months.

Went during happy hour, ordered the happy hour burger, mac and cheese, and fries. Along with a beer (can't remember the name but it was light) and a mixed drink (also can't remember the name). The burger was one of the best I've had, the red peppers were just right and had a great smokey flavor to them, and the mac and cheese was DEEEEEELISH! The service was great and our bartender was really friendly and attentive! Definitely come here if you want a delicious meal with a relaxed feel, yet still classy.

I went on a date night and we were seated right away. I noticed the tables were really close to each other which was okay until it took the waiter about 10-15 minutes to offer us a drink. A group of ladies was seated next to us and they were attended first with everything which we thought was extremely rude. The wait was excessive to receive our food and to think that it didn't seem at all busy since there were a lot of empty tables. The food wasn't any tasteful for being semi-pricy. The waiter also forgot to mention the special of the day which happened to be oysters and we had to find out about it once we saw the table in front of us enjoying them gracefully. I was not impressed with the food or the service. On the other hand props to the girl refilling water she was the only one on top of things.

I must of ordered the wrong item here. I ordered the wasago beef brisket and it was very dry and tasteless. I had to smother it with aioli sauce before I could somewhat enjoy it. Everything else looked great so I will have to come back again.

Our server was Brook. She made this a wonderful experience. many thanks to her. My husband had the special (rib eye) and Brook made a special request for me to the chef so I could have the shirt steak. Food was very good. The only thing was the music was really loud in the back of the restaurant, even when the staff turned it down we could hardly hear ourselves talk.

Decided to try out the "new" place in Napa....I was surprised that my friend and I got seated so quickly! It was a busy Saturday night, and it only took a few minutes. The service was great...we had a gentleman with glasses named Chris as our server, and he was attentive when he was around...however, with the hustle and bustle there were a few times that I was looking for him or unable to get his attention. However, other waitstaff and the hostess were more than happy to help us as well, which was a nice team-effort and it kept me happy! The overall vibe from everyone, too, was friendly and very nice for such a busy night. The decor is nice, though we were seated in the row of little booths right next to the partiition from the bar...the seats moved around, like they weren't bolted to the floor. Also, the "frosted glass" part of the partition was a little disconcerting....I could see people right on the other side talking, it it wiggled a bit too. Not bad, just distracting...I wouldn't want to sit in those seats again. The menu, in my opinion, was a little boring; just not much variety or options. The appetizers were mainly salads, and since I didn't really feel like a salad, I felt like my appetizer options were very limited. We ended up trying the Queso Fundido...it was barely any cheese in a tiny skillet with wayyy too many chips, way more chips then it would take to actually eat it. It was good, just way too small for an appetizer (more like a side), and not enough to be 10 bucks. I did mention this to our waiter, just as an opinion, and he was kind enough to offer us a free dessert, which was unexpected but much appreciated. The beef brisket sandwich, however, was awesome....I was a little surprised since it was also small and served a la carte, but it turned out to be just enough food. Overall, an average dining experience....I would go back, but not in the near future, and hopefully when they revamp the menu a bit.

The service was good. The food was average, nothing screams out special I want to come back. I got the Crab Louie and the crab was not fresh, the salad was not impressive at all. The wings were good though.

Wonderful dinner on 816/14. The cheese fondido appetizer was outstanding, fresh and hot. The service lead by Christian was excellent, very attentive and professional. All the entrees were moist, full of flavor and delicious! My 3rd visit here in 6 months and the team consistently delivers a great experience!! I've read the other reviews but did not experience anything others have written.

  • Dan C.

Good food overall, a bit too salty for my taste though. The queso appetizer was delicious and the brisket sandwich was good. They have a wide selection of wines, but it is a bit pricey. If you're looking for a fun little place to grab some food and a drink it's worth a stop!

  • Adam K.

I actually ended up here by accident. We were on our way somewhere else for lunch but couldn't make it to the other place because we really needed to make a pit stop. We were pleasantly surprised with where we ended up. They are for sure trying to go for a hip kind of vibe. I think for the most part they succeed. The food was pretty good. We had the burger and sliders. Both were really good. I feel for what we got, the price was kind of high, but I guess that's what you get with a place trying to be hip. At least the food backed it up. I also feel it took a little too long to get the food to the table seeing as it wasn't too busy. But again it was worth the wait. Next time though, I would prefer that I don't have to wait. All in all I think a 4 is fine, and the food was good enough to deserve a 4. The waiter was nice.

Welcome Napkins! Bad or good news first? Let's get the bad news over with. We were met with a very friendly greeting and shown to our table. Off to a promising start... and then we sat...and waited and waited for 20 minutes. Seriously, twenty minutes. Good news - finally a nice server took our order. The Caesar salad and meatloaf were both excellent. In fact, it's the first meatloaf that I ever liked!

Had lunch here today with my sister and son. We were offered seating inside or out, no wait. We elected to sit outside and this was a nice choice (traffic was light and weather was perfect). We ordered the grilled artichokes for starters then decided to share a fish tostada, my son ordered Mac & Cheese and a side of veggies. Everything was very good, especially the Mac & Cheese- very good flavor and texture. One less star for slower-than-expected service. But overall, a nice lunch.

Great prices for the quality of food. I went there after work to have a drink but ended up with bison sliders and fries. They had the basketball game on too.

  • Laura P.

We were very impressed with the eclectic fun atmosphere! The venison chili my hubby loved, fried chicken sandwich my friend loved! Steer clear of the bison burgers unless it's an appetizer they were the smallest burgers I've ever seen may as well been mini meatballs! (I was boring had a ceaser salad-very good but yuck to the anchovies!)Martini flight, sunset, sidecar and beer were hits amongst us!! DONT USE THE BATHROOMS-they are in a common area not cleaned and gross!!!

Came here to celebrate a low key bachelorette shindigg tonight. As the sober person in the group, I didn't order a drink. However, as the clumsy person in the group, I knocked a water over. The wait staff hopped to helping me clean it up, then this host guy came over. He apologized for "reprimanding" me, but warned he would have to cut me off if we spilled again. I pointed out that I was the one that spilled, yet I was not drinking. He repeated his statement and left. What? I get that you have to be aware of not overserving, but really? 4 stars for the actual wait staff, but that dude was the epitome of awkward.

Came here for St. Patricks day with a few of my friends and had such a lovely meal. The cocktails were out of this world! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed everything. The service was friendly and the food came out fast and was amazing. I will definitely be coming back!

I loved the quality of the food there. The queso fundido is a nice start and so are the chicken croquettes. I had the pork trio and it was incredible. I pained me to do this, but I swapped out the grits for the brussel sprouts. Regardless, the sprouts were amazing. My only knock on the the place was that the service was a bit slow, even though we got there early and placed our orders early. But, I can still give it 4 stars.

An amazing dinner! The ambiance was fantastic, live music was great, but the most important: the food was really really good. We have been in Cali for quite some time, and this is by far the best meal so far. I will highly highly recommend this place for everyone. Great place, great food and great wine!

  • Cindy S.

I'm giving this 5 stars, not just for the food, but for the service and caring the GM and staff extended to us! Locally, this new restaurant has been given mixed food reviews, but our experience was really good. We split the spicy wings and the Caesar salad, then had two entrees: radiatore pasta w/kobe beef and the pork trio. The GM stopped by our table and was sincerely seeking input; he stayed at our table quite a while and truly listened. Later, when we ordered dessert, we learned that our waiter paid for it. To top things off, I absentmindedly left my cell phone in our booth...duh! The next morning I went by to get it, safely in their "lost and found" drawer. No, it's not LaToque, but it is good, honest food served with care and it doesn't seem to matter where we go these days, that's rare. One note about their Caesar: It's served in spears with the anchovy filets in tact; not my favorite presentation, but I think it's safe to say that Caesar is one of those "personal" salads; we each have our own idea of what's perfect. :-)

It took a whole hour for us to get a table of four. After which the waiter was excellent, with drinks and an appetizer. The waiter said the meal would be up in 60 seconds. 90 minutes later we walked out. The meal never showed up. I wouldn't let Napkins wipe my @ss.

Great ambiance and very good food.. The manager Adam was very polite and made some excellent recommendation's that everyone enjoyed.. I started off with the prawns and a whiskey cocktail that he recommended and both were stupendous... For my main course I ordered the Flank Steak with pureed potatoes and a really good red wine reduction.. Everything was very good as well as the service... I will be coming back here!!

Came here on a Wednesday evening around 5:30 for a quick happy hour drink. The place was slow with only a couple people in the restaurant. We decided to order a "queso fundido" from the happy hour menu. After waiting 20 minutes for a happy hour appetizer that should take 5 minutes, we asked the bartender to check on it. 10 minutes later she came out with it. It took 30 minutes to get the appetizer and it was literally some cheese thrown in a little skillet, shouldn't have taken more than 3 minutes to make, and it was awful. Now I don't blame the bartender because I know she put the order in, I saw it on the check she handed us just a few minutes after it was ordered. What bothered me was seeing all the employees standing around in the restaurant socializing, this included back of the house. I've worked in restaurants for years, and to see the cooks just standing around the dining room while we were waiting for a simple appetizer that should take 3 minutes really upset me and that's why I'm writing this review. Napa is coming into the slow time of year and there's no excuse for something like this to happened. I have now crossed Napkins off my list of places to visit in downtown Napa.

I went to Napkins for lunch today. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to take our order. We ordered a cheeseburger, medium rare with extra crispy bacon. Also a side of cornbread. After waiting a long time for our order the waiter came and said our ticket had been lost. Finally our food came to the table. The cornbread was pathetic. Burnt on the bottom and not edible. The hamburger came burnt on the outside and Raw on the inside. And no bacon. What a HUGE disappointment. We will not be going back.

Service was terrible, our glasses stayed empty and we never saw our waitress. Food was cold when it came out, bland taste, and it took over 40 min to get our food.

Had a reservation. Place was packed, but was seated promptly. Long wait, however, for someone to come by so we could order drinks. Finally flagged someone down & ordered drinks. Another looong wait for waitstaff. Wife was hungry so, again, we flagged someone down and asked if we could have some bread. "We don't serve bread' was the response. At that point we should have just left and gone to Allegria or Celadon. What kind of a dinner house in the Bay Area doesn't serve bread? But, we decided to wait it out 'cause friends had recommended it. Finally got our order in, skirt steak & veggies (mostly broccoli) for me and a chicken salad for wife. Food was served approx 1 hour 10 minutes after we were seated. My steak was cool( temperature-wise) and chewy, and my broccoli were crispy critters. When waitstaff inquired as to our status I told her "tell the chef he cremated my broccoli." Nothing came of that. Wife's chicken was so-so. We decided to take the chicken and the steak home for the pups and asked that they box up the meat & the chicken to go. While waiting for that we inquired about a dessert menu since we were still hungry. "We don't have desserts." That did it. No bread, no dessert, long waits, inattentive waitstaff, poor acoustics, crummy food. I'm done. But,wait, there's more!!! When we got home and opened the box we found that whomever had merely scraped both of our plates into one box, cremated broccoli , limp romaine & all. I won't be back but wife is going to give them another chance this week, at lunch.

Love this place!... and consider ourselves 'Napkins regulars'! We're often in town for various music venues and have been to Napkins several times... lunch and dinner! The location is just perfect for our evenings on the town (we can park once and walk to the various venues). The staff has always been attentive and we've left feelilng like we've made new friends! My favorite menu item 'so far' is the brisket sandwich... and a friend insists the fried chicken is the best he's ever had! Can't wait for our next opportunity!

With time, I'm hopeful that Napkins will become a solid addition to the downtown Napa scene. I'm a big fan of the concept for serving food late (you can't find decent food in Napa after 10pm) and I think the decor is a unique change from the rest of the area. There are obviously a few kinks to work out regarding service, product, and so on, but this is always the case with a new restaurant. The ownership & management team behind the operations are all very good, professional, and dedicated individuals - this alone will help keep the restaurant successful. I've stopped in twice for drinks, once for food, each time was good, not great, not terrible. I can only see them improving from here and ironing out all of their kinks before summer. Drinks were relatively inexpensive, the wine by the glass in particular seemed to be a good bargain. The food is a little pricey for the small portions - this could be adjusted. I look forward to trying this restaurant again.

Eric our waiter made the entire experience. He was fabulous. Great place for drinks. Wasn't overly impressed on food and portions are very small. But service made up for it.

we eat at local restaurants in the area of napkins, very often. each time i pass their doors are wide open and there may be 3 people inside. it smells, their hand railing broke when i was holding onto it (i am disabled) and i nearly fell and their menu was unimpressive. yusuf has 'tude. maybe that's how your culture taught you to treat customers, but you will fall on your face here. just trying to get someone's attention is a challenge. if you are in wheelchair, expect the eye rolls as they have to make room for you. if it's THAT closely furnished, i believe it's against fire code. at any rate, i can get rude treatment anywhere and i'm not paying extra for it. zuzu's is in the area as is asia cafe downtown joes (which is also become very dirty). you do have other choices. take my advice and make them. take this place OFF your list. i don't consider "trendy" a reason to go to a restaurant that can't get the orders right, has incompetent wait staff and a psycho manager and owner. unless you are into being treated that way, keep walking. the nearest handicapped parking is almost 2 blocks away, so whether you are ABLE to walk or not, you don't have much choice. the last 2 times we dined in this area, there were fights outside and police had to intervene. an "upscale" restaurant in a sketchy area? i don't think so.

Napkins has the best food and impeccable service! The night life with music and dancing is so much fun! And their house made cocktails are amazing! It's the place to be in Napa!!

What you expect in Napa is exceptional food. Unfortunately Napkins food is lower than the average of the surrounding bars and restaurants! Ty is a great bartender and cares very much about the guest's needs

Overpriced for what it is. No love in the food. Dishes are over-worked, like they are trying to do too much. We had the chicken wings appetizer, only 6 were in the serving (whereas at Norman Rose Taver, you get a pound for a similar price), and wings themselves were cooked fine, but the sauce was way too spicey. Salad was sort of "whatever" for the pricetag, especially since there is so much good produce and great salads to be had in this part of the world. The chili was also fine, but nothing outstanding (again think they were trying to do too much), and way too overpriced for the serving and the quality. Norman Rose Tavern's chili and salads and wings hands down superior. Decor didn't really work for me--felt like they were trying to make it too Greek diner-y but spiffing it up so it would be acceptable for Napa.

Honestly don't know how to judge this place. My server was great, my meal was simple and enjoyable. The atmosphere is new and comfortable. But compared to my other favorite spots in the valley it is simple. Nothing to set it apart besides being new. I had the sliders and a side of fries. Fries aren't anything interesting, however the malt vinegar aioli was something I haven't seen in the valley yet. The sliders had some spice but lacked anything green. The wine list doesn't consist of anything original, but maybe that's because I've grown into being a wine snob. The service is very friendly. Drinks are great. Cost is affordable. So honestly if you are looking for a catchy environment with a casual, simple menu this is your place. Looking for more of an extreme dinning experience maybe try elsewhere. I know it's new and there are kinks to worked out and menu changes to be made so I'll be back in a few months to try again.

Heard some early mixed reviews about this place, decided to head in myself and check it out. Unfortunately, I encountered a lot of the same problems other diners/yelpers had-- including the exact same thing that happened to Natalie P! I ordered a bottle of wine and after about 8 minutes the waitress came over to apologize for the wait and told us it would just be a few more minutes (which I thought was weird because the time it took her to come over, interrupt us, and tell us it would be a little longer was time that could of been spent just bringing the wine to our table) and then it was another solid 8 minutes before the bottle actually arrived. The food came out promptly and was pretty good, nothing really special. I didn't really have a problem with it being bland, everything seemed to be seasoned appropriately. The thyme-infused fries were really good, that was the only standout. I didn't really care for the decor, the black and white seemed a little stark and I really hated the florescent lighting in the main dining area. It's covered by a cool light fixture but you can still tell that it's florescent underneath. Our waitress was really nice and comped our dessert for some reason (maybe because of the earlier wine delay?). Overall, a pretty unspectacular experience.

Service was very slow. Went there with a party of four.....food took over 45 min to come out after it was ordred. The place was not too busy so not sure why the delay. Mnager came out twice to tell us food will be here soon, however those were 20 min apart and still no food. At the end food was good (a Four Star) but ruined by the wait.

We drove late into Napa last Thursday night. We were impressed with the decor but not much of anything else. We figured this place would be great! But not at all. There was not enough staff so we had to wait for our waitress. It took 20 minutes just to get our drinks. When we ordered the kitchen was out of 3 of the items we wanted. When our dinner was served the sirloin beef was charred. Black and crunchy on outside. It would have been great if it wasn't burnt. Can't believe they served it. Also, it wasn't fun watching a customer expressing herself quite loudly about the poor service she was receiving. I think if I had gone to the deli down the street I would have had a better meal. Hopefully next time I'm in town Napkins will have stepped up their managing skills. Good luck!

... Sunday brunch - Bellini came as I took the last bite of my over cooked and tough omelette with no cheese and over salted kale. Ugh wouldn't go back ...... The waitress said the omelette had a lot of veggies - 2 pieces of kale, 2 mushrooms and 1 small piece of red pepper .... Really? No toast either - left hungry and stopped elsewhere for more food .... $13 for that omelette

Well went with great expectations- not to be. The atmosphere is very odd the lighting harsh, the music loud, and the bar staff needs help in every way. The manger? Came by and was very nice, our waitress was very nice but the place missed the mark. Our appetizer was salty and though we were not charged set the tone for the evening. The food/ menu looked better online and I was in no way impressed. Too bad I am a local and always looking for a new hangout. Perhaps they can improve with time one can hope.

We went there last night with friends. The food was okay, but nothing special given the price. I had the Mexican Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was really meh. It tasted like pressed chicken. Normally, I would have sent it back but we were with friends & I didn't want to disrupt the conversation. I had a bite of my husband's ribeye special & I was not impressed at all. It was also so dark where we were seated that I had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu. Then the music started at 9pm & it was very annoying. Way too loud!! We complained because it was ridiculous. Even the people at the table next to us were unhappy with the volume. Eventually, the guy mellowed out & seemed to turn down the music. We would go there again for the dancing like we did a couple of weeks ago....but that is about it. There are too many other dining choices that are better. The service was very slow & they also forgot to bring the cornbread I ordered. The water server was totally on top of filling the waters tho!!

Don't waste your money if you're hungry. My husband and I took my daughter and 2 grandchildren out for his birthday. We were seated right in front of the bar where there were a group of very loud and intoxicated people. (Rotten atmosphere for kids - Excellent watering hole). When we told the waiter we were there for my husband's birthday, he actually seemed perturbed. Our food took FOREVER to get to us. They mixed up my husband and my steak (switched our plates). The steak itself had no flavor. Even worse was the zucchini/spinach soup - someone forgot to add any seasonings - tasted like plain chicken broth. The artichoke was very tough and the dip was disgusting (warm with a weird fennel-like flavor). The potatoes on my plate were frozen in the middle (obviously didn't "nuke" evenly). They brought out another "Warm" side of potatoes and they were cold, too! No one ever came back to see if we were okay with our food - they obviously knew we weren't and avoided us. We will NEVER go back

Love this new restaurant downtown as well as their sister restaurant Tarla! I got the chicken sandwich and it was scrumptious! I also got a mimosa that was $9 and delightful! It was a beautiful day so sitting outside was great! Only downside was the occasional whiff from the sewer vent, yuck.

We heard that the Napkins Bar and Grill had opened recently and decided to celebrate a birthday party(8) there. After entering the newly remodeled building. All the pictures of Napa back in the forties were amazing look at the past. We were being seated at our table when our waiter Christopher handed out his arm to aid our 86 year old companion to the table, so sweet. Christopher then told us about the special, he made his description so articulate that I just had to try the cauliflower soup..Please try it you will never think of a cauliflower in the old way again "delicious" Christopher was the waiter everyone wants, nothing and mean nothing was problem. He was the best and kudo to management for finding this waiter. I will ask to set in his section the next time I am in town..The meatloaf was great, the chicken sandwich was to die for...You won't be sorry.

As a napa valley local, I must say I am quite impressed with Napkins! I have been twice since opening night, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both experiences were top notch. The GM, I believe his name was Adam, took great care of us. Looking forward to my next return!

Rob Williams was an excellent bartender. Extremely friendly and great service. My burger had great flavor to it and my girlfriend really enjoyed her dish. My biggest complaint is the amount of food for the price. The burger was I think $14 and didnt come with any sides. A little over priced, but other than that it was a good experience.

Very friendly staff. Food is terrible. Don't try the queso dip and the chicken sandwiches bread was so hard I couldn't eat it. Sadly server didn't notice my lunch had been relatively untouched. May try again in 3 months

My g/f and I saw that the restaurant was being built over the summer and wanted to check it out when it opened. When we researched the menu online it looked great. They even had a deal for $25.00 for a salad, sandwich and a dessert. When we asked about the deal we were informed it was only for large dinner party's. Which wasn't a big deal. 10 minutes later I heard the couple behind me asking the same question. Deceptive advertising, hmmm? Regardless we were still hungry and was happy with making the decision to eat there. The decor is nice and everything is brand new, I can't make much of a complaint here. I ordered a Pittsburgh salad. I feel as if it was overpriced and was lacking love. I have realized that Northern California is amazing for their burgers, but wow this was an AWEFUL BURGER! I waited 45 minutes after I received my salad. I ordered a "medium" burger. It came out well done. I told my server that it was waaaaay overcooked and he said he will get another one. Told him not to bother because I was extremely hungry and did not want to wait for another. However, a new one came out 2 minutes later. I took one bite and it was STILL OVERCOOKED! The actual beef of the burger had no flavor at all. The only flavor I could taste was the char from overcooking it. I was polite and talked to my server and my meal was at no charge. While I was there for 1.5 hours I noticed that the manager told 3 different people "I'm really sorry etc". A family across from me looked very angry due to no entree. I noticed the server had rolled his eyes and ran off to the kitchen. Another party had only ate half of their sandwiches with a look of disgust on their faces. I have no idea how anyone is rating this above 3 stars Even if they are having a good day. If so, you must be friends with the owner or you are literally being paid to write a good review.

As an out of town person, I particularly love how Napkins captures the area (and Napa!) history with interesting photos all around the restaurant and especially the bar. The owners are delightful and help to create a warm and inviting experience. The bar has a cool, casually hip vibe to it - a great place to spend time soaking in the scene and enjoying a good drink! I'll come with an appetite next time so that I have room to try the food next time!

Went here for lunch today and hubby and I both enjoyed our food. I have the Fried Chicken sandwich and the aioli on it had just the right amount of spice. My husband had the butternut squash soup and the Bison sliders. He enjoyed both. I sampled his soup and it was different but delicious. Our server was great and we had no issues with timing of drink or food delivery.

Please keep in mind it was recently announced that a change of executive chef is currently under way. Following our experience, this comes as good news. After waiting a few months to allow the owners to work out the kinks of opening a new spot downtown, I finally persuaded my wife, son, and friend that we should all go out and try Napkins. First of all, it took 10 minutes for us to see our waiter; we were staring at our water glasses wondering if we were going to be able to order food. My son ordered the "fried chicken" kids plate. My wife ordered the fried chicken sandwich. My friend ordered the chicken & malfatti, and I started with the wings, and had the bison sliders to follow. Without going into details, the food was edible, but absolutely not worth the money. The manager came by to ask about the meal and my friend gave some constructive criticism, but really...we would have been there all day describing what was wrong. The bison sliders were just...wrong. And bland. There was no "there" there. The chicken didn't sit well with my wife that evening. I think my son's dish was the only one that wasn't negatively reviewed...and he's 5 (yet he still didn't want to take the other half of his sandwich home). We saw NUMEROUS plates being sent back to the kitchen. It was remarkable. There is a clear need for someone to get into that kitchen, change the menu, and kick some ass because it is NOT working. Despite the negative experience, I know the work of the new exec chef, so I'll be returning in a few months with the intention of giving them another shot (along with Tarla, which has fallen in quality in the past three or four months). These are places with potential. They deserve a second chance in a couple of months after the new chef gets in place. But until late summer I will be avoiding both Napkins and Tarla.

Went there on Memorial weekend, restaurant located across from Napa River. Nice walk around in the busy downtown. My husband had the grill pork chop was very good. I had the prawn linguine it was little disappointed, portion was small and very salty. I gave three stars for their good service and good pork chop. I try something else if we go back next time.

2nd visit and we will continue to make this a regular stop. First visit about two weeks ago, I had some of the best braised lamb shank ever - came in a Cabernet reduction with garlic mashed potatoes; wife had a fried chicken sandwich that blew her away. Eric, our waiter, knew the answers to every question and was the consummate server. Great wine and beer selections as well as a full bar. 2nd visit last night, New Year's Eve. Manager/owner ? Recognized us and we were warmly greeted. I had a phenomenal brisket sandwich and wife had habanero glazed chicken (wow this is good!). Our waitress, Rosa, recommended the crab cakes - could be the best I've ever had. Rosa was warm and funny. One constructive criticism: salads need a tart vinegarette to complement the plate and refresh the palate. Prices are moderate. We will be back many times. Cheers to the Chef and the Owners!

Food was good and fast. Prices are reasonable. Our waiter split our check of 8 and was so nice!! free dessert and a coupon to come back later. Seated promptly and even allowed to move when the sun was in our eyes. best bloody mary in town. Will recommend to everyone!!

Fantastic evening at Napkins! We have been several times and loved it each time, but last Friday we took some very important people to a late dinner and had a blast! We sampled most of the appetizers and each one was fantastic, plus the dinner was great. The service was excellent and Ali is a great host, he even came to our table to make sure we were being taken care of properly. At about 10:15 a DJ came on and Napkins was suddenly transformed...we listened to great music and even danced a bit! If you want a quiet dinner then I suggest going early on Friday and Saturday because it can get quite loud when the DJ starts. Looks like this is the place to be on Friday nights in Napa! We will be bringing all our guests to Napkins from now on for great food, great service, great music and an overall fun evening!

Went there yesterday with my husband and we were surprised by the quality of service and food. We had two salads (the beet and the tuna ahi salad) and then we shared the Grilled Pork Choo with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Both salads were delicious and the pork chop was tender, juicy and outstanding. Vegetables were cooked to perfection too: nice and crunchy. Mashed potatoes was just ok, but the service was impeccable and most professional. Will definitely come back in my next trip to Napa.

We are huge fans of Tarla and was excited for the opening of this restaurant. When they finally opened, we were able to score an 8pm reservation on Friday night the same week that they are opened. Ambiance: Cool and modern. I like the photos but dislike the white light emitting from them. It feels a bit unfeeling in there, almost like an office. The bar in the center was completely full of people when we were there and while we sat at a table, the noise level was completely unbearable. I actually had to go outside to get some silence after our order was taken. There was no music playing (which probably would have helped). Food: We felt that the menu was thoughtful and has enough updated comfort food in good range of price points to appeal to both locals and tourists. The fundido was a let down and not very special. I actually think they probably should remove this from the menu. The Steelhead was a generous portion and just lovely. The steak was perfectly cooked. I had the pork chop which was delicious but was way way over cook and dry. I was hungry so I did not want to send it back. Service: The restaurant really focus on serving the locals (even asking the community's input in naming it.) When we were there, our server seemed to know most of the people she was serving. Jokes and high fives all around. Sadly, I guess they thought we were not locals and did not feel as well taken care of. In fact 30 minutes after ordering, the server came back to reconfirm what we ordered (resulting in us not getting served until 9:15 more than an hour after being seated). The table next to us did not seem to have the same problem. I appreciate the intent of catering to locals, but what about treating everyone, locals or visitors, as warmly as possible just the same? I'm hesitant to go back here because of the noise level. I think the service will probably improve with time. I don't think many places in Napa can survive with all the competition around without paying attention to their customer service.

I was a little disappointed in this place. We stopped here during a trip to Napa while wandering around downtown. The service was terrible. It took the entire song of Hotel California before someone even came over and acknowledged our presence. Just as we were about to leave someone came and apologized. We thought the service would get better after that, but it didn't. Our food was just ok. I had a shrimp linguini and my friend ordered the chicken. Both were meh. Nothing special but not bad. The service is what really turned me off. I won't return here.

Went here on a busy Friday night. Hostess was super friendly and we were seated immediately. Chris our server was fantastic! If you get him you are lucky! The manager even came over to check how our evening was going, I found this very thoughtful! As for the food: The butternut squash soup with salsa seca was awesome! Salad with blue cheese, tomatoes, potatoes and cucumber was delicious! Pork chop, risotto and brussel sprout dish was fantastic! I am not a huge fan of pork chops, but this one was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The risotto was excellent! Prawns wrapped in prosciutto sounded interesting and tasted interesting. Cornbread would have really rocked had the bottom not been completely burnt. chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was good. Nothing unique about this. Coffee was great Overall I liked the food, but the seats were a little cramped and I felt like we were cozier than we would have liked. I don't entirely get the theme of all the colors happening at the bar and then black and white photos on the wall? I am uncertain what type of ambiance the owner was going for? The food was tasty and the prices seemed fair, but there was nothing that stood out for me. I would probably go back to give it another try and happy hour looks like a lot of fun here!

I so want to like it as I love their other joint Tarla, but I have yet to have a Napa worthy meal there. My sliders were dry, but the buns were soggy, and the lettuce in the salad had so much water on it, it poured onto the plate. (At least I know it was clean!) The atmosphere is lovely and so is the wine. I'll go back and give it another try in hopes they have ironed out the kinks.

Second chance and they still got it wrong! Was the only customer seated at the bar and the arrogant bartender took more than 5 minutes to acknowledge my existence! A smile, a nod...either would have sufficed before he then casually asked what I wanted. After serving a very ordinary vodka and tonic...the tonic was as flat as the Patriot's deflated footballs! I won't be back...there are too many great places with attentive employees in the Napa Valley. The management is not doing anyone any favors by keeping this uninterested and lax employee on staff!

I don't even know where to start... Seriously delicious. We started out with the queso fundido, that was delicious, and I highly recommend trying it. I ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. I'm not sure what the sauce was.but let's just say I'm going to be going back for more. So good! Our waitress was very friendly and was prompt with service, the owner of the restaurant was there while we were eating and was walking around asking everyone how their meal was. I thought the service was excellent and loved the experience. Definitely going back soon!

Stopped by to get some appetizers here on a Saturday night around 7PM. Got sat down right away as they weren't too busy. Took a little while to get service but our waitress was nice and friendly. Tried the melted cheese with chips dish and that was ok. Chips tasted a little old (not crunchy) and the cheese tasted ok. Ordered the bison sliders and those came really well done. Decided to repeat the order and this time they came too rare. Asked to return it to cook a little longer. After that we just got the check and left. Nothing about the place grabbed my interest enough to come back, especially given the many options nearby.

Me and the Man had dinner here a few times and honestly the only drink I ever order is a Citrus Thyme Bulliet! Keep them coming and please don't stop! They have this Epic Burger that's only available certain nights and is amazing!!! Crispy pork belly sandwiched between 2 juicy shortrib/brisket patties with caramelized onions and gooey cheese with a fried egg on top! A FRIED EGG PPL!!! My arm was dripping with juicy, yolky yummyness...I think I actually licked it! We also had the meatloaf...and I have never had one better, i swear...our amazing server said it was the chef's grandmother's recipe and it even had bordelaise sauce! Hello Lover...I wanted to pour it over everything in sight and well, u get the idea... Lol It's really sad this place has some bad reviews... I love it and can't wait to make the Man take me back on our next date!

I've been to napkins approximately 6 or 7 times now. I tend to be a small plate eater and so the happy hour menu has been perfect for me and there house style mac and cheese is one of the better efforts in the valley. Kate seems to take care of me most of the time from behind the bar and she is definitely a reason I keep going back. Keep up the good work!

This place is super trendy and fun for watching the game or ladies night out, both of which went on while I was there. The place is pretty good sized too, easily can accommodate large groups. When it comes to Happy Hour specials (my ONLY hour) this place has really great deals, the appetizers are amazing - had the white queso dip with chips, the dip was served in this SIZZLING hot cast iron pan, bubbly warm cheese - SO GOOD! Shared it with my dad while watching the Giants game, and it stayed warm until every chip was gone! I LOVE LOVE LOVE their margaritas! Its not easy finding a place that actually MAKES their own mix - i hate the pre-made/bottled disaster some places think is ok to serve. But every margarita I had was perfect, and it was quite a few I had. Great place for a night on the town!

My boyfriend and I went into "Napkins" while visiting Napa this past weekend. The music was enticing because they played all decades of awesome hip Hop. I can always appreciate an establishment that plays good Hip Hop. Halfway through our evening, a gaggle of 4 (cant say ladies, because they acted like hyenas) were eyeing my purse while on the hook at the bar when I went to the restroom. My boyfriend watched them eye my purse the entire time. When I went to the restroom later on in the evening, they followed me as well, as I had my purse with me. They cornered me in the "ONE PERSON" bathroom and shut the door. My boyfriend, being an ex marine had a 6th sense and grabbed the bouncer to let him in the bathroom. The Bouncer OBJECTED to my boyfriend getting me from the bathroom. I was stuck in a bathroom with 4 Hispanic 30 something women who could have done "God knows what". Meanwhile, Napkins bouncer had the audacity to object to him getting me. Thank god for a smart boyfriend AND SHAME on the bouncer. And even MORE SHAME on this horrendous ghetto crowd. Never again.

Just moved to the Napa area, and wanted to celebrate our arrival, so we came here. I am becoming rather disappointed with downtown Napa's food scene. We visited a couple of weeks ago before moving here, and had some sub par experiences then as well. Should have known by the disco-tech decor there was going to be issues. The food was bland and forgetful. This atmosphere is horrible it feels kind of like a night club rather than a restaurant. At late night they even bring in a DJ. Which causes you to rush your meal while they shuffle things around you.How pathetic! Decide what you are and stick to it. Be a restaurant our be a club. At the moment you are doing neither well. Food is below average and so is the service!

Delicious meal! We checked in,-got the free cornbread and because we both checked in they comped our dessert instead of having to get two servings of cornbread! Not a huge menu, but I got a great burger!

Torn, completely torn...the service was lackluster, the two gentlemen who greated us decided they would rather speak in another language (non-English, non-Spanish) back and forth to one another rather than acknowledge us. They finally got the message when we said hello to them twice. Then prompted they seated us outside. You might ask why I'm torn...because the food was really good. The pork chop was out of this world. Its really disappointing because I'd go back for the food, but not the service. The food is the toughest thing to get right, the service is easy...greeters and servers can be replaced easily, cooks/chefs are rare gems. Hopefully the owner wisens up, replace your greeters and lack luster wait staff and elevate your experience to match the food. It's really a shame, its like putting filet mignon on paper plates and getting wine served out of a red party cup...its still filet, but the experience turns you off.

The service at this restaurant was outstanding. We arrived with a party of 12 at a busy time and they bent over backwards to accommodate us - they even put us in a private room that was reserved and already set up for another party later that evening. Once we were seated, the server was friendly and extremely attentive. We had some of their appetizers on the happy hour menu and they were all excellent. Definitely recommended.

No. Flies buzzing around the entrance, bad drinks, mediocre and tremendously over-priced food topped with a tacky nightlife scene on the weekends. There are much better places to go in Napa, like my bathroom.

We were there with a group of seven on Saturday evening. Service was attentive, and the food was excellent. The lamb shank special fell off the bone. All of our party were very happy with the various dishes. Solid wine list, and an interesting decor.

OMG. I have not smelled anything quite like this in my life. Something like sweaty feet and moldy cheese. Think ass cheese. Do not enter this place. Trendy on the outside, ass cheese on the inside. You're welcome for my review!

Had a FABULOUS dinner here with my Mom! The staff treated us well and were very attentive. We got to meet the lovely and charming manager Adam who talked to us and made us feel very welcome and appreciated. My mother ordered a citrus chicken dish with mashed potatoes and carrots. I ordered a perfectly cooked pork chop and also had mashed potatoes and veggies. We ended off the meal with a delicious warm cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and my mom had a lemon cheesecake. Mouth watering! I highly recommend eating here. There's also a full bar that I wouldn't mind trying out next! Thank you Adam! -Jasmine

We stumbled into this place on a Friday night. Didn't expect much when we walked in. The staff was extra friendly. The owner, Ali, came to our table and offered us free shots. The ambiance was great. Great place to hang out in a Friday night or weekend. Not to mention the food was great. Would love to come back.

I was really excited to see this place open up and was even more excited to finally get the chance to eat here! Napkins, similar to Tarla, is a nice restaurant but still very approachable with an upscale casual sort of motif. The space is a total transformation from the dump that was the blight of the downtown riverfront. Nice and contemporary, with a great new porch that is perfect for people watching and enjoying the downtown riverfront. I felt like the patio could have been a bit more comfortable though. Maybe some plants or curtains...something besides just tables and chairs. The Chicken Wings were the best thing that we had there and I would come back for those. The Chicken Sandwich and a special French Toast Sandwich were good but nothing spectacular. I think I'd come back to try the dinner menu next time (the dark interior seems like it'd be really cozy at night). Will probably have a Review Update soon!

Great place to have a drink and don't forget the buds! Food is super flavorful. Not a lot to choose from on the menu but everything is cooked so well that you don't need to pick from other things. I didn't know I could have this much fun in Napa!

  • Michelle C.

Fun, fun, fun! Great music, but be sure to get there before the DJ because the place packs out after he starts. Slippery floors though...I saw a few woman take major losses on the dancefloor and felt my feet slipping around when I wasn't being careful. The drinks were pretty good and the staff friendly!

How to i begin to describe this place....I'll keep it short. Food: Good, but pricy for the amount. Service: Here's where it gets tricky. My boyfriend took me here for dinner the day after Valentine's day. As a yelper, i checked in on yelp after we ordered and noticed they had a check-in offer for free cornbread so we mentioned it to the server and he acknowledged. Our food came out, but the cornbread didn't. The manager stopped by to check on us and my boyfriend politely mentioned the cornbread for dessert would be fine because the server seemed to have completely forgotten about it. The manager insisted that he would instead replace the cornbread and it would be complimentary and we would receive that in place of the corn bread. We mentioned that to the server when he came by near the finishing of our entrees and he understood, so we thought.... We ordered dessert and what came out was dessert and the cornbread and we ended up paying for the dessert. It wasn't expensive, and we didn't mind the charge too much, but the miscommunications when both the server and manager seemed to be on the same page via our direct communication was a little ridiculous. I might add that the server might have been confused or forgot because he was taking shots while serving us, just a few feet from me at the bar with some patrons. Personally, I found that unprofessional, regardless if you were a bartender or not, which he wasn't on this shift at least. Decor: it looks really nice and has a good feel to it. I think i wouldn't return as the service is kind of a fiasco. Also, i'm not even completely sure why the manager came to check on us to begin with but in the interest of ensuring the customers are happy, clearer communication with the server would have been appreciated, we possibly would be regulars here if that was the case.

I'm a local and when we first made reservations, I was so excited because judging by its appearance, it looks like a really great restaurant. The environment is really nice and I liked the decor too. Based on looks alone, I'd probably give it three and a half stars. The service was good too, My two stars is for the food because it was overpriced and unattractive. My fiance ordered something that looked like a torta for about $15 that we could have went to a taco truck and bought for less than half the price. I ordered their soup and the bowl it was served in was very shallow, got cold very quickly and was not an attractive meal. Considering their competition in Napa with just as good of an environment and great food, this is not one I would come back too.

The staff is very nice! The food is okay, had bar food mostly: fries and chips with guacamole and some other smaller items. They do have a mixed drink assortment but it's a typical bar and if that is what your looking for, you won't be disappointed.

I tend to not do yelp reviews but I needed to after Saturday. We had a group of 8 and were very thankful they were able to seat us outside! The food was pretty food but nothing spectacular for a 27$ pork chop. But the only reason I am giving a negative review is because the service was terrible. I have been in the service industry and understand the hardships when busy. But, they really were not busy. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and apps then it took 45 min for our 2nd server to ask if we wanted dinner. Then the dinner took 30 more minutes. Will not be back

Very weird vibe. It's trying tone slick and modern and youthful. But instead it feels like a restaurant equivalent of a silk shirt and a men's chain. Service was slow. Food felt like a second thought. We ordered wine, because that seemed like an obvious choice, and then waited on "clean glasses" way longer than I would expect from any bar, let alone a big bar in Napa. You're better off going elsewhere, for pretty much anything. But it's not atrocious, if you do happen to come.

  • Robert M.

Not the best dinner I've ever had. Ordered the fried chicken special, it was overly greasy, my Manhattan was good but the waitstaff couldn't figure out who was taking care of us. The place wasn't busy so where was the service? For the price of the entrees I would expect much better service!

OMG, this place was ridiculously amazing. Was here with a party of 10 so we shared lots of appetizers and drinks before actual dinner. Everything was delicious and drinks were great. I had a vegetarian wellington which may be the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. The vegetables were done so well and the pesto and goat cheese added much appreciated salty and creamy flavors to the dish. I even tried to make it when I got home and cannot figure out how they made it so tall and so even. I'm so glad that friends chose this restaurant. The service was great, I know it can be painful when there are so many people, but everything was awesome.

While Visiting California in Napa Valley we stumbled into a restaurant called Napkins. We were greeted by the manager who seems to be maybe even the owner as well as one of the servers. We we're undecided on whether to stay or not but after hearing their mouth watering descriptions and great description of the restaurant how happy they were to serve us we decided to stay ..we enjoyed the hospitality and the friendliness of the staff the restaurant was also very crisp and clean, good music, good lighting, great temperature and again friendly service. the food was plated nice and served hot.... If you're in Napa and looking for a good place to eat I would recommend this place to friends

The last time I was here on New Year's Day my experience was less than desirable. I expressed my views on yelp in less than 30 mins the owner replied. Ali thanked me for my honesty and invited me back as his personal guest. Since he was so kind and gracious I decided since I was in town for Rick Springfield I would try it again. I called and he said come on in he would have a table ready. He met us at the door and shook my hand thanked me for coming back. Our waitress was Becky she was kind and very knowledgeable about the food. We ordered a glass of wine and the buffalo sliders. The sliders were very moist and full of flavor, I highly recommend them. My wife ordered the hamburger and Becky suggested I order the pork chop with mac&cheese sides. When the food arrived Ali added the duck special confit with Parmesan risotto. Pork chop was the best I ever had so moist and full of flavor. The duck was tender and fell off the bone. The mac&cheese had a nice crust on top and cheesy in the middle. Ali took care of my meal and I had a 100% better experience than I had last time. I highly suggest trying it out and try the sliders and the cocktail sunset and glass of wine to set the mood. Thank you Ali for being such a gracious host.

The food was mediocre, they charged us for bread. Other than that, the night life was super fun! The DJ started spinning around 10:15 and it was so much fun! Drinks and a dance floor after dinner! The night life is great! The food service could have been better.

We've been here four or five times now, and each time I swear I'm never coming back. The service is consistently terrible. The food is ok, but uninspired. The ambiance is stiff and sterile. Really, the poor review comes down to the service. Servers seem confused, uninformed, distracted and downright uninterested in providing the experience that paying customers deserve.

This place is delicious, and Teshia was an amazing waitress! They have yummy cocktails, and about everything on their menu is scrumdidliumcious! Just ask not to be seated by the door in winter, you get a really cold draft from the door to the bathroom (which is outside).

The bar looks cool and the drinks are good. It's a nice casual place with decent apps. The mushroom crostini was a bit small for the price. The server was good, but service was disjointed. She didn't know the answer to a couple of easy and key questions, like the seasonal fruit for a dessert. Asked me way to early about dessert and it can before I was done with dinner. It's as if the management doesn't school or coach the servers and helpers enough. The entrees themselves were okay.

This place is only a few months old so I guess it's still making it's way in the Napa scene but we were open to giving it a try. Turns out that it was a great decision. I had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich with a side of mixed greens which was yummy and the jalapeno cheddar cornbread was soooo good. A bit sweeter than I'm use to but I we got it right out of the oven with a side of butter and wow! I would definitely stop by again!

The restaurant is very elegantly decorated inside and is a very nice atmosphere. We strolled in from out of town and tried one of the hamburger + beer specials, as well as the ribeye, salmon sandwich, and beef brisket sandwich in addition to the their appetizer wings with some type of avocado infused sauce. All dishes were delicious. Our server had a wonderful personality and was very knowledgeable on the menu. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I wish that there was less than one star for this place. Just had the worst experience ever. We waited 10 mins before the "hostess" even asked us about a table. Then got sat outside and ignored. When we tried to leave we waited at least 30 mins for our check (minimum) then another 45 for them to run our cards. Terrible service for bad atmosphere (Jesus freaks protested at our table during our meal) and the staff was more concerned with turning the place over into a "club" than taking care of paying dinner guests. I'm a Napa local and I will NEVER go back to this place again. It's a total joke and not worth your time. Skip this and go to one of the other quality restaurants in town. I feel dirty for having given them my money. In total it's 3hours and a bad meal I can never get back. Thumbs down and shame on you Napkins!!!

First time here, visiting Napa for the Bottlerock music festival and was looking for a nice place to have brunch at, get drinks and walked into this place. First thing the waiter says to me is " Sit wherever you like." So as I'm trying to find a table, he then says " The further you go down the less service you will get." In my head I'm thinking, there's only 5 tables outside, it's 11 am and it's completely empty inside at this time. He then proceeds to keep talking about how he just wants to go home. For me, I felt like I was interrupting his day at work and that I should be sorry that he's here WORKING on a Saturday. The food was great but def watch out for the tall guy, maybe an accent, and dark hair. Debbie downer! Also ordered the endless mimosas and the other waitress was definitely a lot more aware of refills with the tables she was attending to and our waiter, without asking if we were done, came out with the check. I wanted to get endless mimosas for a reason. This place def left a sour taste in my recommended places. I get that you're not having a good day, but please don't let it affect your attitude at work. As for whoever scheduled the only 2 waiters on a busy Saturday, maybe this review will be of help to you.

Racist owner. We didn't even have the "pleasure" of eating here because he said it was full, even though a server told him he had open tables. We are a party comprised of a doctor, lawyer, financial analyst and an engineer. We were clean and sober. The only "bad" thing is that we are all minorities. Never eat here.

Napkins food and service is incredible, a wonderful addition to the downtown Napa. Open mindedness is perhaps a bit important for those who had given Napkins a less than 3 starts, the restaurant has been fully operating only for a couple of months and adjustments are necessary to achieve greatness. In my personal experience the food was exquisite, the ambience intimate and elegant, and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Anyone who is looking for a perfect place to send their executives, I would certainly recommend it, they have a private room for meetings. In my recent visit, I started with their house salad. Freshest of fresh, with mind-blowing intensity and delicacy of flavors and crunchiness. For my main dish, I had their roasted chicken with malfatti and it was worth every penny. It was roasted to perfection, tender and juicy, well seasoned accompanied with malfatti. I had only ate malfatti made by my dear cousin Johanna (yes, Clemente Cittoni's daughter), and let me tell you that Napkins malfatti were good. Definitely going back to try the rest of their menu!

Service is always a disappointment. Slow and very unfriendly staff. Food is mediocre at best and is way over priced. Do yourself a favor and skip this "restaurant" there are a million better restaurants in this valley that will be worth your time and money.

I have visited Napkins about 5 times now. While I love the bar, and ordering food at the bar, I'm not completely sold on the dining experience. (Ty at the bar ROCKS! FYI). I dined with a friend a few weeks ago, at a not-so-busy time, and the service was slow, slow, slow..... After what seemed like an eternity, but was actually around 25 minutes, we waved down a server, and asked if we could order. I don't know if it was our server, or someone from a different section, but we were HUNGRY! Yes, my friend and I were in deep conversation, but when someone reads a menu, then puts the menu DOWN, that usually signals they are ready to order. At least come by and ASK if we are ready to order. Once we placed our order, and receive our food, I was pleased. My risotto was wonderful! I loved the crispy Kale on top. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was quite tasty. The portion sizes were good, and the prices were decent. I'll give the dining another chance. The bar, I LOVE! I'd like to add that Napkins isn't meant to be an upscale dining experience. It's supposed to be local friendly, family friendly, easy going. If you want upscale, there are many other choices in the Downtown area. If you want casual dining, with a nice wine list, beer list, and cocktails, then Napkins is a great choice. I like that Napkins is different than Tarla. Want Mediterranean? Go to Tarla. Want something fun? Cheese curds? Sliders? Fried Chicken? Go to Napkins.

For being a whole new hyped up place it didn't quite live up to its expectation. I came a week or so ago so this posting is late but when I went there I made sure I would eventually post this because of my experience. I came there with my family, their friends and my girlfriend. We came on a Saturday night so I naturally made a reservation for 7 at 8 or 8:15 (I cant remember which) which they said wouldn't be a problem. When we got there we were told there was going to be a wait. We waited. And waited and waited until about 9 when we finally got seated. I had told everyone how great this place was going to be and so far things weren't going well. From there we were all famished and ordered as quickly as possible. Right around the time I was wondering where our food was (about 30-40 mins later) it came out and granted some of the things were good. I tried some of my girlfriend's chicken mulfatti and it was tasty. I tried my steak which I asked medium rare which came out rare. Two of the other steaks ordered came out extra rare like tartare with a sear on the outside. As we were all finishing up with our meals I had noticed some people setting up for a dj to spin some music like a dance hall. Since we had been seated so late and everything took so long there was a lot of commotion and people hovering around the table going on around us which made everyone feel uncomfortable like we were in the way. In essence this was a very poor experience and I will not be coming back. The only reason I give this place 2 stars was because of the service most notably our Russian server who was very eager to please and did all she could to try and make it a pleasant time. It's too bad because I've been to Tarla who are the same owners and really enjoyed myself. Don't believe the hype

Tasty steak and tender pork chop! Servers were really friendly, even when they were not assigned to our table. The dessert cheesecake simply melted in our mouth. Delicious! We would go there again and again. Nice stroll along the river afterwards made our date night truly romantic.

Came here with my family for a lunch. They have some good lunch specials (Burger and a beer for $10). Other lunch specials include a soup/salad and a sandwich for $15 or so. Prices are what I expect for downtown Napa. We ate on a Monday afternoon around Christmas it was pretty empty but there were a few times we would look back and see where our server was. Not the best service I have had, especially given the lack of other patrons in the place. I went with a burger which was good. Not the best burger I've had but it was a quality burger with an above average bun. Napkins was not amazing by any means but a perfect place for 5 picky eaters that wanted a quick american casual lunch. I don't think i'd come back but all in all a serviceable experience.

Food was good. But the service needs some help. It's a lovely bar and dining space& It's a fantastic location. My only complaint was the service and how staff should handle a bad situation (I.e., if you drop half of someone's meal, yes they want a new meal. It should be obvious). I would try again however, since the server can be trained.

    (3)
  • Chloe G.

The problem with Napkins is not so much in the food, but in the service. And let's face it, in Napa, you can get lots of good food, so your service better set you apart ... and not in a bad way. Our server started off by taking our drink and appetizer order, then coming back to tell us she'd be right back with our drinks - and had we decided on any appetizers yet? After we reminded her of our order, we tried to convince ourselves that wasn't a bad sign. Then my red wine showed up and was a very light pink. It was a rose. The queso was good, and my husband said to be sure to mention that the bison sliders were pretty good. I had the brisket sandwich, which was spicier than I expected (and I don't mind spicy food). Sandwiches don't come with a side of fries, so we ordered one and split it - nothing to write home about it. The main thing you should know is that apparently at 9:00 or so, at least on Fridays, they envision themselves a nightclub. So God forbid you are sitting at a table in the section where the "dj" (i.e., guy with a MacBook, an iTunes playlist, and a cheesy light up podium) is going to be setting up because you are about to get rushed out the door. Finish up your meal, pay up, and get out. Seriously, they were moving the tables around us as we tried to finish up. So, all in all, I'd say maybe 3.5 to the kitchen, 1 to front of the house. Figure it out, guys. If I'd known I was going to get the bum's rush out the door, I would have gone a few steps down to Zuzus.

An ernest attempt at upscale dining. In the end, though, it doesn't quite make it. The food is decent but fails to achieve memorability. Nothing was better than what you'd find at a domestic dinner party with a home chef who cares for their work. Decor is like the food... It tries hard to be something it's not. Nice bar though, I can see hanging out here to have a few drinks and watch the game. But with prices what they are here there's a lot of places that do it better for the same money.

This place will always be my favorite happy hour spot. Sara is a constant form of entertainment and you simply can't beat the chicken habanero. Definitely a must try!

This was literally the worst service I have ever experienced. Beginning with the hostess who was annoyed that we were a party of 14, the rude waitress and the clueless manager, we were left waiting and waiting for any semblance of service. The only polite person in the place was the busboy who apologized as we walked out. We comprised more than 50% of the clientele on a Tuesday night at 8:45 pm. Whoever owns this place needs to monitor these employees or just close the business now.

Had to come back! Loved their calamari and drinks. As always, the service went above and beyond with Madeline. Came here a few weeks ago and safe to say my friends and I will be back.

Excellent late night menu with great dinner specials on Monday and Tuesday nights. DJ and dancing on the weekends right in the heart of Napa. Be sure to say hello to Kate behind the bar, she keeps me coming in every week.

I was part of that party with tiffany t. After we accomodated ourselves outside because of the bathroom stinch inside. The waitress acknowledged the stinch and highly recommended the food. After several attempts to get the waiter to clean our table and order additional food. He didn't respond to the "excuse me" 3 times yet he responded to "psssst" Mind you as you see in the picture the outside is a tight small narrow area with 4 tables we sat in the middle 2 which means he had to walk by us to wit on the other two tables which means he seen all the empty plates. I would encourage proper training to wait staff. The place was empty, we were a party of 7 that sat at separate tables which I feel attracted folks to the place. Adam came and asked we respect his staff. Had there been another approach and he clarifird the reasoning why we called the waiter by a noise he would have realized it was because the waiter was not doing his job. I'm sure your going to say people applauded yet its funny how they were asking us what's going and why does he (Adam) have a problem with us. Yes we were so "drunk" yet we had already been there for a hour we were finishing our appetizers this occurred at the end of our visit. This experience at Napkin was SURREAL!!! Of course we took our wings to go we were rudly abrupted from our lunch we were hungry and we had a drive back home. Plus the bill was on you for being so unprofessional and narrow minded and for already feeling a type of way about us since initially we had already complained to the owner Yusuf. (FYI, after we complained of the stinch both entry doors were opened to air out)

We were told there would be a 25 minute wait for two. 30 minutes later we were told it would be another 20 to 25 minutes. 20 minutes after that we were told it would still be another 20 to 25 minutes. About 15 minutes into our third lap, we were told there was a counter top available next to the noisy kitchen and noisy cash register, but a real table would be ANOTHER 30 minutes. After seeing the other places in the area give us estimates of 2 hour waits without reservations, we were thrilled with the 20-25 minute forecast at Napkins. At least the other places were honest about the wait time. The burger I ordered medium well was very well done, after being advised that the grill "runs cold" by the waiter. Very charred and dry with basically nothing on it except mustard and bacon. 2 stars because they were very busy.

My friend and I went to Napkins last night for the first time. Was glad to see another new restaurant in Napa. My friend ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was ok. Nothing special. I first ordered the filet of sole but when it was brought to the table all i could smell was stinky fish. Which I immediately asked the waitress to take back. She had the nerve to tell me that's what Sole is suppose to smell like. Really, I don't think so. Fresh fish shouldn't smell at all. i ended up having a beef pasta thing that was very good. Their water girls were driving me nuts!!! i understand they want to make sure that we have water but to rudely push in to the table every 5 mins topping off our glasses was so annoying!!!! I will not be back anytime soon. Oh and just as we were leaving someone else ordered the fish and that I could smell IT 3 tables away, really?????? Napkins you may want to change your menu and NOT do fish as it not your best item on the menu.

Last minute birthday dinner with my best friend. We wanted to try something new & so we decided to come to Napkin's since it's new to Napa. It was Friday night & it was so busy!!!! However they didn't make us wait a single second, we walked in and they sat us down right away.. (I was mind blown, there is always a wait at restaurants even when I have reservations sometimes) so that was cool! Our waitress was ok- she was nice but wasn't too helpful with the menu. We asked a couple questions and she was very vague. She didn't care to ask if we were celebrating anything it was just straightforward service. On to the food!! - she ordered the chicken and dumplings and she like it. She said it was ok but not the best she's had. I had the a burger & I honestly have to say the best part was the burger buns! The burger itself was raw!!! Like completely raw.... I asked for medium well and I got a raw burger. It was literally still uncooked and I just couldn't eat it. If it would've been cooked better then the burger would've been totally worth it. The restaurant was so busy that I just didn't want to send it back. So she finished up and we left. We skipped dessert here because we were just not pleased with the experience and went to Yo Belle down the street. You can't go wrong with frozen yogurt right? Overall, it seemed like everyone around us was there for drinks and not for the food. So I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for drinks and appetizers. I don't know if I'll come back, but maybe in a year or so.. When they figure out how to cook food properly. Oh I forgot to mention the decor!! It's cool, modern, everything you expect with a new restaurant.

Excellent: service, food, ambience, and location! We were greeted by the owner, Ali. Our hostess was great, very attentive, and efficient. We had bison sliders which were excellent! And we shared a rib eye steak with Mac and cheese. The rib eye was super juicy and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was on point; creamy and cheesy! Our choco chip dessert was to die for!

Other than a great location there is little to get excited about. The server was not helpful or the least bit knowledgeable about the menu. She was nice on the rare times she came to the table. I ordered a beer and then 5 minutes later she returned saying they were out and she suggested another option. I said fine and then 5 minutes later she came back and said they were out of that too. Amazingly it happened a third time and I was ready to walk out. My wife was already done with her drink by the time they found something to serve me. The whole time the owner was standing chatting away with some friends never paying attention the dining room in the least. The decor is bad, looks cheap and is cold and uninviting. The booth we were in was lightweight and shifted around as you got in and out. Not comfortable at all. Food was generally okay although I suspect the chili appetizer came from a can. Won't go back unless someone else is buying.

Place was amazing! Melanie at the bar was extremely helpful w where to go, not go, and a bit about the area. We have been here for a few days, really nice places to eat and this was the best food we had. Really a surprise as we only expected to get a drink and maybe at app and stayed for round after round of food.

Napkins is a great new dining opportunity in Napa. It's a shame that people slammed them so for challenges in the first month of operation. We've been to Napkins twice, first a few weeks ago, and then Valentine's Day. We like watching the kitchen, so we sit at the kitchen bar. Contrary to what a reviewer suggested, the kitchen is not noisy; the glass wall mitigates the kitchen bustle. The only thing we could hear was the expeditor. On Valentine's we had a reservation, and were seated immediately at the kitchen bar, as requested. Our server was prompt and pleasant. Trish's cocktail was delivered, our wine was opened, and the pleasant evening was underway. Our salad came promptly, but the kitchen got a bit in the weeds soon thereafter; we could tell by the expeditor trying to hustle things up. Out of the blue came two apps, comp'd, to make up for the delay in our mains. Gotta love that. Our mains were well worth waiting for, both the Black and Blue, and the steak de jour. Napkins is our new Napa go-to. Love everything about it. Plus, walking distance from the house. Napkins is so close to firing on all cylinders, you have to give it a go.

Fully stocked bar, super friendly staff and a delicious yet simple menu. I can't complain about this place. The ambiance and decor is nice and simple, I also like how they have purse hooks underneath the bar tops so that you can hang your purse there if you choose to sit at the bar. I think ALL restaurants and bars should have this. I can't remember how many times I have gone to a bar/restaurant and have no place to put my purse except for on my lap or on the bar top which leaves little or no room for the drinks. I would recommend the tuna and arugula salad. The tuna was perfectly cooked and moist, pan seared with a sesame crust. It lays on top of a arugula salad which is a perfect compliment to the tuna. I also want to add that this cute restaurant is in downtown Napa and close to the water. Good for a date, or a simple outing with friends or coworkers.

Warning- this is a new restaurant up against some serious competition all around them (Zuzu, Morimoto, Oenotri, Bounty Hunter). That being said, I must say the owners of this restaurant did not do their homework. Maybe they're trying to stand out and do something different, fine. But if you're going to be different, you have to step up your game with service, food, cocktails, etc. I don't like to judge a book by its cover...so I decided to try this place with my husband and some local friends. At first glance, the decor puts me off. Its very...confusing... flames and bright lights, etc. I looked past that and headed for the bright bar. They were very slow to greet and serve us (it wasn't that busy) but I wasn't entirely surprised. The servers seemed to be thrown into chaos and didn't know what was going on. It looked to be very unorganized. We had a round of drinks and decided to go elsewhere. I might give it another shot but I don't see myself dining here anytime soon. An occasional drink would do, but the crowd just isn't my scene.

My first experience here left me feeling like I had wasted my money and completely unsatisfied. First, I am a Napa local (and please, do NOT refer to me as a Napkin after you ask me where I'm from...it's cheesy and completely lame. I get the pun, thanks) and I have certain expectations when dining out around town. For instance when the menu states that queso fresco is on top of the guacamole and instead some cheap, pre-shredded from a bag junk shows up I'm gonna be concerned. Then after our artichoke arrived uncooked (none of us were able to scrape the meat from the leaves) we sent it back....the waiter comes back to our table and tells us that they can't make us another one and the chef is worried that cooking the one they had sent out to us already any further would make the heart soggy, so we can either order something else or take it off the order. We'll skip it, thanks. Dinner wasn't that bad if you don't count my friend who ordered the rib eye with asparagus and it came out with green beans instead (same thing, right?) and my husband's arugula side salad had an couple random artichoke leaves mixed in with it (a subtle hint, maybe?) and my ahi salad (which had asparagus in it, mind you) was kinda bland. Ambiance looks like it is a great later in the evening hang out. The waiter told us they move the tables and bring in a DJ "after hours", so I have a feeling this is what the focal point of this restaurant will be. Full bar, good drinks with a copper mug to serve my Moscow mule in is a plus. Long story short, I wouldn't run back to this place to eat anytime soon, but I would pop in for a cocktail if I was in the downtown area on the late night. Maybe.

Went for a Sunday brunch. I had poorest excuse for Huevos Rancheros I have ever seen. The eggs were way over cooked to the point where the whites were blackened around the edges and the yoilks were rock-hard. The "salsa" on the 2 tortillas was nothing but chopped canned tomatoes. The black beans on the side were absolutely cold. I cannot imagine how the kitchen let them out onto the floor.

On a Friday night we really wanted to try this place, but after sitting at the bar for a solid ten minutes... And not even being acknowledged by the bartender we went down to Henry's. (Where each of us we're served within minutes, and they were packed wall to wall). We saw some other familiar faces who were planning to leave as well for he same reason. Not a way to treat five locals... The one star goes out to the warm welcome by the bouncer who was checking ID's.

The "buttermilk fried chicken sandwich" was panko-crusted. My son got a fried-chicken sandwich too, and it was clearly on the menu as "tenders." I had to send mine back because I ordered it without cheese; and we watched as several other plates went back to the kitchen. My sandwich, sadly, ended up being almost inedible. Dry, greasy, leathery chicken. Service was slow, considering nobody was in there.

Napkins, I recently visited this new hot spot in Napa for a lunch with a few friends we got Seated right away like I always say it's a plus when that happens! We were greeted by our lovely server she was very nice and with a great attitude explained items on the menu, she answered all the question we had! We started off with the wings that were delicious and a good amount for the table & the Queso fundido which had to be the best cheeses i have ever tried they give chips to eat it with which only makes it that much more delicious! Some great apps for sure!! I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich on the menu that was pretty delicious I love the aioli they use on it! Others at the table had the brisket sandwich which has recently been changed it was a great sandwich!! On my second visit here we visited napkins for cocktails which were pretty great most of the group started with the grey Goose martini flight which In my opinion was great the portions were good! We loved the ambiance in here defiantly a good place to eat and a great place to hang out and have drinks with friends and fam! I suggest everyone to try this place out! The staff and management will defiantly make you feel so welcomed! I Will for sure continue to visit and dine at napkins!

My wife and I were in Napa for a friend's acoustic concert and needed a place to eat before the show. On a whim we tried Napkins. We were seated right away. Service was great! We started off two appetizers. One was the meatballs and shiitake mushrooms and the other was another mushroom dish with a delicious bread topped with a stomach full of yumminess. Both dishes were outstanding. My wife and I said to each other, after appetizers, if these are any indication of the food here at napkins we are in for a treat. Our entries came promptly without waiting. I ordered the waygu brisquet sandwich with a fresh garden salad. It was delicious. My wife ordered the habenero chicken and was pleasantly surprised how awesome it was. Not too hot. Just right. The chicken dish came with steamed carrots and the most light and fluffy mash potatoes my wife had ever tasted. After our entrées I said to my wife is it okay to lick our plates clean- they were that good. When our server asked us if we wanted desert I didn't hesitate and said yes! My wife had the flourless chocolate cake. Oh Good Lord it was so good. I ordered the double lemon cheese cake. It was equally as good but lighter. Napkins hit a home run for us last night. Thank you. Oh, and our waitress was awesome too.

I never give a bad yelp but this is bad. Food is ok and service is great. Bar and servers are awesome. Management is complete shit. It doesn't look like they treat there employees good at all. Just like tarla. I've been in the industry for 20 years. And they do not deserve the spot downtown at all. Horrible management at the least. It looks like they knew people to even get the good location for a better deserved restaurant. Give that building to someone who deserves it. I'm bummed that I can only give one star and that is only for service.

I am updating my review because of my ongoing experiences after multiple times there. Although the food/head-chef is on point, the owner and his comrades are not. I have witnessed the owner berate his employees in front of customers repeatedly, while he then continues to stand at the entrance scrolling on his phone. After seeing multiple fights break out on weekend nights- the last one resulting in a man knocked completely out into a coma for multiple days- I will not return to this restaurant/nightclub or recommend it to anyone. Though it may appear to be very busy from the outside on weekends it is nothing but a chaotic, dangerous circus on the inside. The restaurant's awkward name was meant to attract and cater to local interest but instead it falls terribly short from local standards and draws a bridge-and-tunnel crowd. Pass on this one, Yelpers.

Napkins, I love the name. Cute, clever and oh so tasty! I prefer to wipe my face with my hand, yeah, my mama taught me that, but seriously this place was delicious. I went to Napkins with the Downtown Napa Culinary Crawl and they stuffed us with delicious appetizers, the food was super tasty and the staff was amazing. If you haven't been you have to check out the décor, it's kind of glam for Downtown Napa but good glam not too fancy. It's a classy but laid back place. I had a watermelon wheat beer complete with a wedge of watermelon, cute, tasty and refreshing. I totally recommend it!

My buddy and I came here on a Friday night while on a business trip, and we were very delighted with the hospitality from the owner, Ali, who seated us very quickly and pleasant greetings. The service was amazing by our waitress Teesha and we realized that we were being catered to, and never had an empty water glass, and also whenever our beers were coming close to empty, she checked up on us to make sure we were happy and needed anything. The food was impeccable, I highly recommend the bison sliders and the chicken entrée. There were no complaints here. The service and the quality of food was terrific. I returned the following day to grab some appetizers and a few drinks, and was welcomed by Robert who always made sure that my drink was to perfection. I HIGHLY would recommend this place to my friends, family, and others. I am planning to bring my wife back for 80's night next month.

We came to Napkins after spending the day in sonoma and we were hungry and looking for something to eat. I had the burger and sea salt fries while my husband and the pork chop. Nothing really stood out about dinner and I feel like I could have went anywhere and had a similar experience. In the end my experience was not a bad one, just nothing stood out and with all the other options in Napa, I probably wouldn't make an effort to return anytime soon.

I've been excited to visit Napkins ever since it was announced and I finally had the opportunity to try it with my son. Big disappointment. We arrived around 5:45 understanding we were not going to spend much. I felt since I had my 14 year old son with me they wanted nothing to do with us. There were about 10-12 tables occupied (less than half of the seats) and after we finally had a server approach us, nearly 10 minutes, we ordered. I had the chicken sandwich which was good but curiously small and my son had the Mac and Cheese appt. which was surprisingly large for an appetizer. The M/C was dripping with oil and needed salt. When we grabbed the salt shaker, it was empty. The next table, empty. I asked the bus girl for more salt. Not understanding a word I said, she went on to demonstrate how the salt shaker worked. I told her i understood how the salt shaker worked but it was empty and there was no salt in the shaker to shake. Finally, the server understood and grabbed a shaker from the other table and gave it to us. The one he gave us was so loose and dirty, shaking the salt produced more pepper from the device than the sea salt that barely fit through the holes. Sounds silly, but if the small details like this are consistently ignored, (3 tables against the window with gross, broken salt shakers) how's the kitchen run? Lastly, as we decided to leave, we had to find the waiter to get our bill. Walking out the door, it appeared the owner(s) were at the door. They ignored us as we walked out. It appears this has turned into a bar that has food versus a quality restaurant that's open late. It's a bummer that this restaurant will 'succeed' purely based on location. It has every classic sign of poor management a hospitality book could offer. Sorry!

I wanted to experience something different in Napa and found it. The food tasted awesome. It's a new restaurant so they have a few kinks to work out, but overall this will be a great addition to the downtown Napa area. My awesome server was Thaddeus. If you go there, I highly recommend his friendly service. I had the cheese curds which had a crunch to them and loved them as they melted in my mouth. The chicken sandwich was awesome which had me wanting more. If you haven't tried this place, I suggest you go for it. You won't regret it.

Great location downtown. Nice sidewalk patio seating. Service? What service. What is Happy Hour? It is drinking and if drinks are not served in a timely manner the place is not going to make money. We did our first visit on a Friday (yesterday) and ordered margaritas, wings, fries, etc. waited and waited for the drinks. Finally got the girls attention after 15 minutes and she says, "they're up on the bar." DUH! On the bar waiting does us no good. Finally drinks and food delivered almost together. We had the one drink each with the food, paid the check and went some place else for a second libation. Oh, forgot to mention there were about 8 or 10 people total in the place. 15 minutes of our happy hour was sitting and not drinking.

I write this review with the intention of coming back...we didn't order very much and there are too many things on the menu to sample for me to refuse to give them another chance to wow me.... We ordered the bison sliders and thyme french fries with malt vinegar aoli... first off, the service was great...a tad slow but I was thoroughly enjoying my company so it was no big deal...the sliders were good...the bread was dry and there was way too much of it on the bottom... I enjoyed the krout- the combination of flavors was good- especially the smoked gouda.. other than the dry bread they were tasty. The fries...this was disappointing....the funny part is there wasn't a bit of thyme on the fries which was a good thing because thyme isn't an herb I would use on fries...unless it was lemon thyme...but that's just me- the fries were reminiscent of Burger King or fries you would get out of a bag...I guess I'm just used to fries that are cut from the potato on scene and then fried to order.... Like I said, I will be back and look forward to another experience...

Went here for an after dinner drink last night. Came around 9pm on a Thursday not too many people there but better for us. The bartender made me a fruity, starburst flavored drink and it was great! Another bartender have my friend a complimentary tasting of some beer and champagne I think. We were only here for a short time but the service was great and that's what matters 95% of the time. We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager told us about the place. He's a great guy and I'm sure Napkins will work well with Napa. Definitely will recommend!

Maybe the 5th or 6th time at napkins. But December 29 was an unexpectedly busy night. The food was good as usual but our server Maggs was amazing. Calm, attentive and helpful even though we could see she was working most of the tables in the restaurant!

On a Saturday night at about 6:30 we decided to go out to dinner with a party of 7. Thanks to OpenTable I was happy to find a reservation at Napkins for 7:15. Being from Napa we had seen the construction of this new venue but were afraid to try it based on some of the reviews and the fact that is it is rather new. When we walked in we were greeted and was told that the table would be ready soon. The bar which is central was busy and since the restaurant was crowded I figured that it would be a rather long wait. To my surprise the table was ready in about 5 minutes. The first thing that I notice was that there was no Tablecloths. This set the tone for the dinner since I knew that this was not going to be a gourmet meal which was fine with me since we only wanted a nice casual dinner. Almost everyone had something different. The macaroni and chess came in its own small cast iron pot, the vegetarian wellington was very creative, my fish tostadas was a very nice portion, the 3 bison sliders and the steaks were also good. Napkins Bar & Grill is run by the people who have the Tarla Grill on 1st. They know the competition and are working hard to create their own niche. We found that for the money it was well worth the visit.

Took my staff of 15 for lunch and had a wonderful time! Adam and his team did a wonderful job of tending to our every need. The food was AMAZING!! Cheese curds and Thyme Fries were incredible along with the Habanero wings! Then for our main plates we had, beef Brisket, fried Chicken sandwich, bison sliders, Mac and Cheese, Burgers, salads and a little bit of each everyone was amazed at how great the good was. All praises coming from our table! The drinks were absolutely DELISH! Thank you to Yusuf, Adam and everyone at napkins for making our visit an incredible and Delicious one! We all sat planning when we could return with more friends!

The food was great here as well as the ambience. My friend brought me here but the menu was pretty limited only brunch & a few lunch dishes. I had a braised beef sandwich which was excellent & the beef was super tender. The salad that accompanied it was acidic enough to go with the saltiness of the sandwich. And i used the free cornbread offer and it was good with pieces of corn in it.

It was good. A bit loud and I can't say outstanding but I can't complain really either. I had the Citrus Habanero Mary's Organic Chicken and their soup of the day, which was potato - I enjoyed both. Nothing stood out really so i think 3 stars/A-OK is appropriate review. They had a nice cocktail menu as well.

Date and time of visit: 9pm on Tuesday July 8, 2014 Reason for visit: Saw the A's and Giants Battle of the Bay game on TV and remembered the great food and service from my first visit. Environment: Welcoming and pleasant. Food: Thoroughly enjoyed the soup of the day which was a sweet corn and mushroom soup. Not too hot to enjoy as soon as it was served, wonderfully creamy in texture with just a hint of mushroom taste. Absolutely delicious! I couldn't put the burger down after the first bite. Best burger I've ever had no joke. Real thick patty with generously thick bacon strips and fresh organic arugula. Service: Got served a tasty beverage within a minute of sitting down. Nice, professional bartender with a passion for providing quality service. Kept checking on me and maintained a clean bar at all times. Experience summary: Walked right in to a semi-full restaurant and grabbed a seat at the bar. Ambiance is cool, fun, not too noisy and very modern and trendy. First things you notice are the pristine cleanliness and shine of the bar, interesting waterfall wall behind the bar, and my baseball game playing on two large tv's. Great wine, beer and drink menu with a wide variety and killer selection. Awesome service from the courteous, professional staff. Thank you for the experience Nick! I'll be back!

Yusuf and business partners - you've done a fantastic job with your new restaurant - Napkins! Our first visit was last night. We easily made reservations online for a table at 7:15pm . We arrived around that time and were immediately seated. Napkins is high energy and the staff is moving at a frenetic pace. If you're looking for an intimate dining experience - this is not your scene. However - our server promptly came to our table and took our drink order. I'm sorry I did not catch her name - because she was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and appeared to genuinely want us to have an enjoyable evening. Everyone that worked at Napkins that came to our table to deliver, remove, replenish our water were very friendly and professional. Everyone seemed to really enjoy working there. We challenged our server by wanting appetizers and entrees delivered at the same time. All arrived together (salads, entrees, bread). The timing was perfect! So lets talk food. There are so many great restaurants to choose from in Napa - the competition is tough. The food here is EXCELLENT!!! We had the Pittsburgh salad, Grab Louie, Cornbread (traditional in an iron skillet), Mushroom risotto (needs a touch more salt), and sauteed Kale. Everything was so tasty. The sauteed Kale is the best I've had in a very long time (including what I make at home). While we ate - Yusuf stopped by with a hello and the restaurant manager also stopped by to see if everything was fine. If this place keeps up the quality of the food and the dining experience - this will easily be my "go to place" for great food at a moderate cost. So with all the accolades above - there is a couple of things I would change. The dining area is far too cramped. While I LOVED the food - the servers could barely pass each other in the dining room aisle. It's noisy - so don't plan on having any type of meaningful conversation over your meal. Also, there is something odd about the lighting of this place. I'm not sure what ambiance they are going for - but it was neither serene or comfortable. I kept thinking I was in a pancake house with great cuisine. In fact - the light really distracted me from the entire experience. All in all - this is a solid 4 star. Yum!!

Great place - love the concept. Had a bite then stayed for the great DJ and atmosphere. Only problem is the floor is not heel friendly. Even with no spills on the floor it is slippery to walk on and with spills on the floor many people fell.

I so want these guys to do better! It is a great location in Napa and if they could elevate the food, they could really have a great operation here. Our server was very good and friendly even during a busy Warriors watch party (we came at half time). We shared some basic comfort foods, a burger, mac n cheese and the cornbread (which is free for a Yelp check-in). The cornbread did not really have any taste - not really cornbread consistency and was loaded with jalapenos. The mac n cheese came in a little skillet but I swear, almost looked like it came from a box. It was very bland - no stand out cheese flavors so maybe they are using really low quality cheese? I say if you have mac n cheese on your menu, you've got to bring it! The burger was okay - you would think they might promote the quality of beef, but I am guessing lower quality due to the flavor. Napkins, please elevate your food experience! You are in a foodie mecca of a town and you've got to bring it!

I was thrilled to see i was able to make a 10pm dinner reservation on opentable.com . However when we arrived, the bartender said the kitchen was closed. He did suggest some places that were still serving. I am thinking this might be more of an opentable problem, but just be aware - the late night dining might not be an option

Food honestly not that bad. Lucky if you get at least 3 bites in though. Server rushed us the entire time we were there. Being a local you hope to find a new spot you'd like to return to, truth is this isn't one of those spots. First impressions are crucial.

So last night my husband and I were visiting Napa and yelped some nearby restaurants and decided on Napkins, unfortunately the food looked better in words then on the plate same for the flavor. The bartender was sweet but seemed kind of unavailable with no reason. There were a handful of people at the bar and even less at the tables....The beer was warm some people like it that way however I prefer mine icy cold... I felt it was way over priced for the less then subpar experience. I had the Spanish Caesar Salad with grilled chicken my husband had the habanero mango chicken neither one of us finished half of what was on our plates. It was a nice looking place but that was about it for me.

Some girlfriends and I came into this lovely new establishment last weekend! We loved it! We were going to bar hop but ended up staying here instead! We sat at the bar and loved the cocktail list! Awesome drinks!! We had awesome snacks I loved in particular the grilled artichoke with the creamy tarragon dipping sauce! Our service at the bar was phenomenal! Our bartender was a good looking guy w black hair! Us ladies will definitely be back!!!

Enjoyed a great diner tonight at Napkins. The waiter was very attentive. I enjoyed looking at all the older pics of the Napa Valley. They did a good job with the décor. I was very pleased. Think it was one of the best meals I have had out in a long time. I will return and recommend Napkins.

Sat at the bar to watch a baseball game and ordered a glass of wine. Beautiful/clean bar area. The cheese fondue was way too oily for my liking. I would come back again for drinks at the bar and try out some more items from the menu.

Meh, it was okay I ordered the tostada because I found out the chef is Oaxacan but the tostada is not even close to tasting like anything that comes from Oaxaca. 2 stars for the friendly staff and cool environment good place to have a bottle of wine and relax.

This place has a cool bar and great menu. The appetizers are delicious & the wait staff knowledgeable & attentive. Watch for great happy hour specials & weekend bottomless drink specials. Highly recommend!

As a newer downtown establishment, I was pretty surprised at how low-key this modernized grill seemed to feel. The ambience was lovely, the service friendly and very informative. I had the beef brisket sandwich which just exploded with flavor and a cool, sweet Hell or High Watermelon wheat brew to wash it down with. I would go back just to have that flavor adventure all over again :)

We made dinner reservations for a Friday night at 6:30. The restaurant wasn't very crowded which was nice. We were seated at a tiny two-person booth. It was a little strange as the table edges were much closer than we were both used to. Not a huge deal, but I felt very closed in. I think it was because our seats/booth was close together to fit more tables. We ordered the prawns to start. They gave us 3 prawns, so if you're a larger party, make sure to order more than 1. They were cooked well and had nice flavor. I ordered the veg. wellington which was very tasty, and the Boy ordered the Crab Louie salad and side of brussel sprouts. The crab louie was kind of deconstructed which made for a nice presentation, but it seemed like a small salad , but it did have a lot of crab. We got the Apple Tart for dessert. It was good, nothing different/exceptional. Our service was great, Brooke was very attentive to our needs and was able to give recommendations as I am always indecisive about dinner.

Awesome experience. Service was so great we thought we had our own waiter. So much fun and the food was phenomenal. Wine was paired expertly to the meal. A must dine in Napa.

I realize it was a busy night, the Warriors game was on, but the speed of service was exceptionally slow. It took over 40 minutes to get our appetizers, and then were waiting over 20 minutes for salads. We finally asked to just get the bill for what had been served. about 5 minutes later the server came back with the salads. she left them and I asked to speak with the manager or owner. again some time passed and the server came back and told us the the meal would be comped. I explained that we did not wish to continue with the meal and that I thought it was very disrespectful of the owner not to meet with us. Any server should beware of working here as it is obvious that the owner/manager will not support you. as for the food it was of medium quality. We left and went to another restaurant to get entree's and had a pleasant finish to the evening. For anyone looking for a good place to eat in Napa this should be low on your list. For any server looking for employment Napkins should be your last stop.

My husband and I had a great time coming for dinner and look forward to coming again. We enjoyed the decorations and remodel inside - very modern and simple. We had the Wisconsin Beer Battered Cheese Curd appetizer, Blackened Grilled Bison Sliders, Black and Blue Farfalle, and the thyme fries. We had the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious! We look forward to coming again!

It's okay the second time here and both times issues with the food. Served a raw hamburger and just can't really figure this place out. Nice thing is that it's always empty during lunch time...maybe a sign?

Good, not great. I had the shrimp linguine and he had the salmon tostada. I would say that the food is better than the service. We were anxiously awaiting our dinner reservation here because we saw that it was under construction last year while visiting Napa. Probably wouldn't come back though.

Not impressed. It was stifling hot in the bar, and bartender blamed it on my low intake of Prosecco. I watched a group of 8 men come in for dinner, then left due to no service. They had waited for at least 35 minutes, about the length of time I stayed in there. They even turned the sign to Closed, and the unfriendly FOH manager didn't even notice. worthless!

Napkins is truly a place for the people! We go there about once a week and every time the food and the service is great. It has become our go-to safe choice for a comfortable atmosphere while still serving quality food , drinks and wine list.... great happy hour spot. Great dinner spot. Great after hours spot for when you want to let your hair down. Buffalo sliders are the best I have had, artichoke is delicious, and even the guacamole is killer. Staff is great too. Even the one night that we had slow service the chef and both managers all came out to talk to us to make sure we left happy.

Very disappointing. I was here on Saturday night with a friend. I had called earlier in the day and made a reservation for 7:30pm. When we arrived the host told me 7:45pm. I said no, 7:30pm and he treated me like I was an idiot. Apparently they decided to move my reservation time. My friend and I were seated and we were without any sign of a waiter for about 20 minutes. We had ordered a bottle of wine at the bar and it finally arrived. We finally ordered food. At about 8:45pm -- a full hour after we had been seated we inquired about the status of our order. When it finally arrived the vegetable Wellington was completely burned on the bottom. The dish we thought was beef turned out to be more pasta with a dash of beef. It was very gummy and disappointing. At this point however we were so hungry that we couldn't be bothered to send anything back. The waiter at least understood our disappointment and offered to comp us a dessert. We said we didn't really want a dessert how about instead we get an after dinner cocktail and split it. He was fine with that. We ordered a chocolate martini which arrived in one glass. I told them we had told the waiter we had wanted to split it and the person who delivered the drink took it back and returned with two very cute little glasses. The food and service were disappointing. Such a shame as it is a great location and the bar scene seemed to be really hopping. I'd go back for a drink at the bar but probably not for a meal again. And one final note on the restaurant design. We were seated on the side in a two person booth. My chair was attached to the person behind me and moved every time she did. Very disconcerting.

The staff is slow, not attentive, and rude. No, I do not want my bottle of wine after my entrée is down. I wanted it before my appetizer is served. And yes, when I am ordering something I CAN ask questions. It shouldn't be a problem! If you new what was on the menu and how the drinks are made then you wouldn't have to walk away and check for the correct answer which makes you have to take time. Be efficient with your service and be knowledgable with a good attitude. Stupidity mixed with laziness. Yikes. Been there three times and none of those times were a charm. 3 strikes and you're OUT!

Ate here a few nights ago and wasin't thrilled with the dish. I had the chicken sandwich that was actually too thick with a pretzel bun and not enough flavor. I had to put the salad on the sandwich to give it some umph! On a good note...the bar was hip looking and the martini was great. With so many awesome restaurants in Napa valley I dont think I will be returning.

I have to admit I was reluctant to go to Napkins, not sure why, but last Friday I went for lunch and the service and food were great. I had their fish sandwich with a coleslaw/arugula topping, it was delicious. The fish was not heavily breaded and the coleslaw was fresh tasting. The side Caesar salad included a thinly sliced black radish, nice touch. I'll definitely be back to eat at Napkins.

I recently went there with my family for my moms birthday. We all ordered our food and were having a wonderful time. Then everyone's food came out and my dish was set in front of me but it wasn't the dish I ordered. So I had to flag down the waitress and ask her what happened because the chicken sandwich looked good but I ordered a pasta dish. So she took it back and they brought out some fries and such to keep us happy. Everyone was done with their meal by the time I got my pasta dish and it ruined my night kind of because my dish was so much later than everyone else's. Especially since the pasta dish wasn't much to ride home about.

Great drinks. Friendly staff. Food is up to par with what Napa has to offer. But the vibe is something you'll find in the city. It feels like a city hang out rather than a restaurant.

Cool place with a DJ on the weekend. I've dined a few times and the food is good. I prefer sitting at the bar as Ty is usually my bartender and I never have to ask for anything. He pays attention to my order, drinks, and up sells me on chicken every time I order a salad which I appreciate. I never have to ask for a 2nd drink as he notices as soon as I'm almost done with my first. My experience at the tables isn't as personable and seems to take much longer and I feel like "just another table." Thanks Ty for for the consistent, friendly, and thorough service!

With their new chef Ernesto, Napkins is becoming a player in Napa. Recovering from health issues with their previous chef, Napkins food has greatly improved. As a local we have many excellent choices and Napkins has most certainly become a contender in the Napa Bar & Grill scene. Can't beat the location and competitively priced by Napa standards. Music was low key, could liven that up especially for a bar scene but we were there for dinner and at least I didn't have to yell across the table to my date like some places in the area. One reviewer compared food cost to taco truck - hey some taco trucks have really good food - and for cheap so if you want to stand on the sidewalk and eat your food then great. Comfy seats, nice ambiance, adult beverages and a wait staff come at a bit more of a price.

first things first, the staff here including the owner have TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. we walked in and it smelled like a public restroom. it's 90 degrees and we opted to sit outside instead of under the AC because of the smell. we asked to speak with the manager a guy named Adam came out to greet us and we told him our concern about the smell, he went on to say oh maybe because we are close to the creek. NO wrong answer. then he sends the ownr out, a guy named Yusuf came out and we voiced our concern again to him, he then gave us his business card (for what reason, i don't know) and said OK. our food came & it was pretty good, but we had empty.dirty plates on our table so i politely said "Excuse Me" to the water guy and he ignored me. i said Excuse Me 2 more times and he still ignored me, so i said PPSSSTTT and that's when he turned around. i asked him to please take the plates and he did kindly. Adam stormed out the restaurant and came straight to our table and said we are disrespecting his staff. we had no clue what he was talking about. he wouldn't tell us how we were disrespecting his staff, so i thought oh maybe it was when i whistled at the water guy. at that time the water guy came to the table, i apologized for whisteling at him and told him i tried to get your attention but you were ignoring me. he goes on to say he didn't hear me BS. even thought patrons at the table across from us heard me trying to get his attention BEFORE i whistled at him. Adam said ok well i will take care of your bill, we said ok and continued to eat. Adam then brought a bill out to our other table, we then said NO you said you would take care of the bill, he then yelled at us "LEAVE MY RESTAURANT", we politely stood up and got into our limo that was parked in front of the restaurant and left. ADAM IS A CRAZED MANIAC and he needs to learn customer service and RESPECT, YUSUF needs to contact a plumber for his STINKY RESTAURANT

My friend and I were excited to try this place, and finally made it out on a Saturday night. There was a 50 minute wait for two. When we finally sat, the server was unhelpful and seemed annoyed, as if the two of us weren't worth her time. We started with the queso fondudo. It was not fondue like she reassured me it was when I asked for clarification. When it came out a whole 20 min later as an appetizer, it was a burnt cheese blob with Tortilla chips. Why would you name that fondue? The portion size was ridiculously small, plus with it being over cooked, (how to you screw up melted cheese?) it was shriveled to a chewy, coagulated disappointment. Our server was oblivious; The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one, is because the manager was apologetic and took it away. The girl was so clueless that she still brought the check with the fondue on it, even though the manager reassured us it was on him. She just took the book back and said, "well I guess you're good then" and walked away. I'm glad we didn't move forward with dinner and just left. Sure, the place is modern and chic looking, but not worth your time. There are so many other places in Napa to enjoy and this place is not one of them.

Went there for lunch on Saturday, however, ONLY the brunch menu was available. I had the Pittsburgh salad and my friend had the Crab Louis. Her salad consisted of about 5 leafs of lettuce and a tablespoon of crab. I order the filet with mine and it was precooked and only 4 small slices for an additional $7. there were funky potato things on it...thought they would be crunchy like croutons, but the were ice cold and mushy...very gross. Two salads, a bloody mary and a glass of wine was $64 without tip. The waiter seemed more interested in talking to the next table than waiting on us. Needless to say, I will NOT be back....ever and can't recommend it. We both left hungry and went across the street and ordered garlic fries.

I just started working in downtown Napa and have been trying out various restaurants. There are many great restaurants here with great reputations but Napkins I was told was new and lots of folks in my office rely on their favorites. So I walked over one day and ate at the bar. I had a great time. Absolutely fabulous brisket sandwich. Very friendly bartender (but not too intrusive). And Wimbledon was on so got to catch a few sets of two matches. Definitely will go back - with or without my office pals!

We've tried this place twice. The food has been good both times. The first time, everything was very good, and we were impressed. The second time was last night, and we had bad luck with the service. The girl forgot to put my order in for my drink, and then when we ordered our dinner, she forgot to put in the side of cornbread. Of course, we didn't discover this until she delivered the rest of our meal, and then she put in for the cornbread at that point, so that we got it when we were just about finished with the food. She didn't even apologize, or offer to take anything off our bill nothing. So we really aren't sure we'd try it again. The food is good but there are so many other great places in the napa valley to eat, that also have the good service to go along with it.

Napkins is a great place for a dining experience Aswell for just cocktails , I've Visited napkins a few times since they have been open the staff is very friendly and all have good knowledge on the menu, we started with a appetizer the Queso Fundido which was very delicious and the house made chips that came with the dish were also amazing! For my entree I had the brisket sandwich which again delicious prefect for lunch or dinner! I recently also came to have cocktails with a few friends and let me tell you those were just as good as the food the beverage menu is well put together menu from wines to beers and last but not least cocktails , the ambiance is nice in here defiantly a nice hang out place for a nice dinner or a couple of cocktails with friends and family! I will defiantly will be returning soon!!

    My Girlfriend and I were here on Jan. 4th at about 5:50 pm. There were a few people at the bar watching the football game and people seated at a few tables in the dining area, presumably for dinner. ( not super busy ). The space, decor and ambiance was very nice, service was very slow and food was mediocre, at best. After ordering a bottle of wine & it hadn't arrived for about 10 minutes, I had to ask if it was coming soon. It did, about five minutes later. There were a few menu items that were already unavailable. Our food arrived about a half hour after ordering it. I ordered the Pan Seared Steelhead with Greens and Grits. The fish came SKIN side up ( nasty fail, in my book ) but it was cooked just right. The "Greens" seemed to be ONE leaf of greens in between the thick "cake" of mushy, bland Grits but the flavor of the greens was good. My Girlfriend ordered two side dishes: The Five Cheese Mac and Cheese, which we both found to be very bland... even salt didn't help! Seemed liked the noodles had been dripped with a very thin, tasteless cheese sauce. Not creamy and yummy at all. The Kale was underwhelming as well. Also while a waitress was taking the order of our neighboring table, her butt was way too close to our table for two... it seemed weird to be eating with someones butt 6 inches from our plates. Maybe they weren't ready to open yet. I see other reviews here that are very favorable so hopefully consistency issues in the kitchen and follow up training with the wait staff will help make this place a new favorite on Main Street. We were on our way to Zuzu (5 Stars! ) a few doors down and decided to try this place. I hope Napkins can work out the kinks. We'll wait a few months and give it another try. : }
