Plenty of nice food at a decent price. Cheap casual dining without compromise.

Great service and food! Big portions! Best Chinese food in the Tri-Valley. Family owned and operated.

The staff is friendly, and the food is always good. I typically get the General Chicken dinner plate (w/rice, chow mein, eggroll & soup), highly recommended.

Being new to the Livermore area, I thought I would try a new Chinese food restaurant so I visited Yelp. I don't know if the people on this website know what good food tastes like, but they were wrong again. I went to the restaurant with the best rating and reviews, and the food was super bland. I have eaten some really good Chinese food over the years and this place left little hope for this website. Yelp helps you find places, cool, but the reviews have been wrong so much that I may as well roll the dice as to which place I go to. Anyways, I will never waste my time or money at Canton Village again. Sorry.

This is definitely one of the better chinese in livermore. Very clean tasting, not greasy & doesn't make you feel yucky after. Each dish has its own fresh flavor, not everything tastes the same (like it was cooked in the same dirty wok). Very good!

We ordered take out on a weeknight. Decent Chinese food, averge price, but a little skimpy on the portions. Particularly in the shrimp dishes. Chow mein and special fried rice were good, chicken lettuce wraps were tasty, potstickers lacked flavor and were a little doughy for our taste. Would like to rave about the food, but have to keep it real.

Great food and great service! Canton Village is definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Tri-Valley. I've dined in and ordered takeout many times and I've never been disappointed. The wait can be a bit long on busy nights, but it's worth it.

The food was very good. The wor won ton soup used fresh vegetables and had lots of pork. The soup was delicious but not the type you find where everyone is Chinese eating in a restaurant. Still tasty but the food is Americanized. The Mongolian beef was tasty and had a little zip to it. The crab wontons were some of the tastiest I have had. The chow mein was good but not great. The ambience in the restaurant is quiet, a little boring and probably a favorite for the regular customers. The lady owner is super nice and friendly. I suspect she is the reason this restaurant is still around and why people keep coming back.

I ordered take out from them and the ordering process (over the phone) was easy and the wait was reasonable (30 minutes). When I picked it up the staff was friendly and my order was ready and packed nicely. So for service I would give them four stars. The food, while fresh looking and tasting, was on the bland side. I ordered chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice (on the dry side) and the chicken lettuce wraps which was the best thing out of my order. Would I go back? Probably - just to try out different things on the menu.

This is one of my favorite places to get Chinese food. I usually get it to go but I have eaten in the actual restaurant in the past. Price is alright but I love the food.

Went here for my dad's birthday this weeken. Great service and great food. We had a party of 10 and our water was always filled , plates pulled ,.and food came out fast. I live 40 mins away but I'll definitely be back

(3.5 Stars) Solid Chinese Food but it's a little on the bland side. The General's Chicken is good and is slightly spicy despite the star indication that's it's "hot and spicy". It's almost go-to worthy.

Love love love, and yes, more so than Uncle Yus. Everyone is friendly, food is fresh and tasty to discerning Chinese fans. For non-traditional fare, I even typically dislike Crab Rangoons and am OBSESSED with theirs. Pick up is quick too.

Delicious: Mu Shu chicken, shrimp wonton soup Not so much: Nothing! everything I have tried there is spot on I don't even like Chinese food, but this place is great! Not too greasy (which is usually why i dislike chinese food), and the food is very flavorful. Im not really an asian soup kinda guy, but their shrimp wonton soup had a really good broth and the wontons were wonderful. The mu shu chicken was really good too - the chicken was moist and the flavors were good. This family run restaurant (Hi Tang Clan!) had amazing service both times I came, and they have the most friendly staff ever. They practically know all of their customers names, and the whole family is very welcoming. Oh, they also encourage healthy eating, which is awesome! Look at their healthy options and choices on the menu when you stop by, or ask for them when you call in. Plus, its in a great location so you can go grocery shopping afterwards :)

My grandma and great aunt came over to visit me and my 3 month old, and wanted to go out to lunch at a Chinese restaurant. My husband doesn't really like Chinese food so I hadn't been to any in Livermore yet, so I looked one up on Yelp. Uncle Yu's seemed a little too fancy of an atmosphere for our group at the time considering we had the baby with us, and so I tried this place on a whim because of the good yelp ratings. The shopping center is in is awfully run down but don't let that dissuade you. Inside the place is well kept and clean. It's nothing fancy, and the decor seems a little dated but it seems to have been maintained well enough. The food was very reasonably priced (the lunch special was SUCH a deal!) and it was really tasty. I was not disappointed at all. The hostess had NO idea what was going on, and wasn't able to answer any questions about the food, the menu, the specials, etc. but she played it off well enough. Maybe she was new. Anyway, I will definitely be back here next time we are looking for some decent Chinese food.

*sigh* Another Livermore establishment we have decided to cross off our list. We used to eat here or get delivery about once a month as my daughter just loved the sesame chicken and the service here is excellent. We had a few favorites (salty peppery prawns, wor won ton soup, Mongolian trio) and while not the best Chinese food I've ever had, it was definitely a cut above your average strip-mall Chinese restaurant. After taking a break from restaurants for a year or so, we decided to have some food delivered one night. Wow, what a difference. The food was cold, it had no flavor, everything was really greasy, and our usual favorites were almost unrecognizable. Half of our order went directly into the compost bin. They've really gone downhill. Added - Just had a look through the photos. Did the restaurant actually publish stock photos of Chinese food on Yelp? Because that is not how their dishes are presented, completely different plating.

Great family owned restaurant. Just ordered take out for work and everyone loved it.

Best Chinese in Livermore!! And I've tried most of them (look at my reviews, lol!). Very friendly staff. I love this place so much.

  • Paul S.

By far the best Chinese food in Livermore. The lunch specials are inexpensive and have a lot of food. I like the fact that you get fried rice and chow mein with them. You can substitute one of the two for fresh steamed veggies for a small fee. Also they are the only place I've found in Livermore that sells fresh steamed bao. They are gigantic and so delicious! My wife dislikes bao and she loves these. They are not on the menu and sell out fast, so you have to ask if they have any. I recommend the generals chicken and lemon chicken. The lemon chicken comes as a whole crispy breast with sauce on top. I've never had it like that before and it's amazing! The only down side for me is that they are one of those Chinese restaurants that adds mini corn to some of their dishes and I hate that. To me it makes the food seem not as authentic.

    (4)
  • Nina P.

Delicious! Family owned and super friendly. We have only ordered delivery, so I can't speak for the actual dining room. Food tastes fresh, not greasy. Will order delivery here going forward.

  • David M.

Nice little surprise place tucked away in a random shopping center. My dinner was quite good. Great place for the single diner as they do dinner "combinations" with soup, egg roll, noodles and pork fried rice with your entree. The flavors were definitely in the old-time Cantonese realm which seems rare these days. Very efficient and friendly staff.

Really yelpers? 4 stars? This place is on par with Panda Express. I know the bar is pretty low in the Tri Valley but this food is barely edible. We tried multiple dishes, none of them was even good much less "the best Chinese food ever". The only bright spot was a fairly efficient server by the name of Emily who did her best to be attentive. The pot stickers were gooey and mostly cabbage. The Mongolian beef was chewy with an odd taste. Not sure there was even any chicken in the King Pao chicken. I could go on but you get the point. They didn't even bring new plates after the appetizers, not sure how thrilled the health department would feel about that one. Seriously folks, believe the bad reviews, the five star ratings are either family members or folks who haven't ever eaten Chinese food anywhere else.

    (2)
  • Laura C.

We did take out for the following items: Kung Pao Broccoli beef Moo goo guy Pot stickers Sizzling rice soup Wor won ton The best thing was the pot stickers. It was the only thing with flavor. Everything else looked the same and had no flavor at all. The kung pao was not spicy at all and looked like the moo goo guy but chopped with peanuts. I think Panda Express has much better food and that's not saying much. Won't eat here ever again, worst $70 ever.

I've been here twice so far for take-out, so I think that warrants a review! This has become my new favorite place to get Chinese food. The times I have ordered take-out was during lunch hours, so we always get lunch specials. I like to get the honey walnut prawns, BUT I love the fact that you can substitute the chow mein and friend rice for more healthy options such as steamed veggies and/or brown rice. Love that fact! You can also ask for less oil to be used where it can be reduced and other options that I have yet to try. Chinese food can be sooo greasy, so I really love that they offer these options. The lunch special also comes with an appetizer that changes daily. Last time we came, it was fried wontons (which I love). The first time it was an egg roll, which I must say is not my favorite. The fried rice is really good, a little greasy, but it is fried rice. This last time I opted for steamed veggies instead of chow mein because I'm not a big fan of chow mein. The veggies were ok and had that distinct taste. You just have to try it. It's not bad, but it's not the best. Maybe add a little oyster sauce and you're good to go. I love the fact that when you order take-out, they include a tea bag so you can have the tea they serve at the restaurant in the comfort of your own home! I've also tried the salt and pepper short ribs, which are really yummy. We always get the crab rangoons, which I love. And I also love the fact that they give you so much sweet and sour sauce so you don't run out! Love this place and I must try other things on the menu, but I will definitely be coming back for more!

Ok, I'll be honest. I usually hate Chinese food. I do like Canton Village though. This is the only Chinese food I will actually eat. We go here regularly as a family. I like the fact the servers all know us. They even remember our order! The entire family that owns the restaurant is super friendly. The price of the food is outstanding. Especially for the amount you receive. What more could you ask for in a restaurant?

I am soooo happy that my boyfriend and I finally tried Canton Village last Saturday after my spa visit at Krystelle Spa a couple of doors down. What a way to end the night! We ordered the roast duck, and the Peking Ribs dinner (comes with which is exactly what I was looking for. I haven't had it in a year, and the way they make it is perfect! They are also very friendly, and speak very clearly, so there are no mistakes. They are extremely accomodating as far as making sure we had everything we needed at the table. The service is excellent, and their price is something that makes me want to keep coming back, expecially for the way they prepare their dishes. I highly recommend this place! Also most of their lunch specials ar at $6.00. Can't beat that!!!

  • Pamela B.

Food is awesome and the Tangs always treat us like family. Canton is the only Chinese restaurant we will go to and we love that they deliver. When my daughter calls in our orders, they know who it is by the second item. When we are in the restaurant, they always take time to visit with us, even when they are slammed. If you like beer, order the Tsing-Tao - they have the coldest beer in town. YUM! So if you want great food at a reasonable price and a great family atmosphere - this is your place!

Where to start. Stained glass lamp shades reminiscent of a pizza parlor. Booths and Americana waitress ending everything with "Honey or Hon". Generic greasy bland oily barely edible Chinese food. Everything had a pool of grease when lifted off the plate. The sauces were tangy in a bad way, like milk that has just gone rancid. The kung pao chicken was spicy but the sauce put me off. I had a feeling everything was days if not weeks old. I'm afraid this restaurant is way past its prime. Will not eat here again. Cheap prices, good service, terrible food.

The Wor Wanton soup is amazing. I stopped in for lunch with friend unsure of what we would find. We were warmly greeted and quickly seated. We ordered the appetizer sampler, the Wor Wanton soup and the Orange Chicken. The sampler was good. A nice variety of choices and the perfect choice to take the edge off our hunger. The Wor Wanton soup was amazing. This soup is a meal in itself with a rich beef broth as its base. I will go back again just for the soup. The orange chicken was the only disappointment. Unfortunately the dish was too salty. So much so that we really couldn't eat it. The service was outstanding, attentive but not suffocating. Refills on our sodas were openly offered without prompting and dirty dishes removed promptly. I will go back again as the overall experience was a good one.

Wow, who knew that some of the best chinese food in the bay area is in livermore? I don't head out in this direction much, but was visiting a friend out in livermore who convinced me that canton village rivals some of the best chinese restaurants in the city or the south bay. the salt and pepper prawns were perfect and the kung pao chicken was especially good. the staff was super friendly and attentive also. I probably wouldn't drive to livermore just to go here, but if I lived anywhere within a twenty minute radius of here, I'd probably become a regular.

Best Wor Wonton Soup I've tasted and we come here mainly for it. The broth is so flavorful- not watered down; they give you a good amount of wontons but unfortunately not enough shrimp (I counted 2). $7.95/bowl. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. We also tried the general chicken one day but it was very dry- not enough sauce. Located in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's.

My family has been going to CV since it opened and we love it. It's like a neighborhood restaurant - not PF Chang or a chain but something in between. They treat us like family (I think they treat everyone that well!). The food is very good, especially if you order entrees rather than Dinner A, B, etc. Their menu changed a few years ago to so almost every entree can be ordered as a combination plate if you want. If you are lucky you might hit it on a day where they have specialties such as Cha Siu Bao (pork buns) but they sell out fast. If you are trying to eat more healthy you can get brown rice steamed instead of white or fried rice, grilled chicken instead of fried, steamed vegetables, etc. They don't use MSG. Their food is priced like Panda but much better!

Absolutely the best Chinese food in the East Bay. We've been coming here for 20 years and have come to love the Tang family (owners). Even though we now live more than 25 miles away it's well worth the trip. Our family favorites are the General's Chicken and the Sesame Beef.

Love, love, love this place. The family that runs it is so nice. The food is wonderful and the selection is very diverse. We order take out from here all the time and have never had a bad experience. I love there egg foo young, a dish some Chinese restaurants don't even make anymore. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

I have to give props to this place that saves me on crazy nights at least twice a month. THEY DELIVER!!!! Delivery is worth it's weight in gold in our house and you can only eat so much pizza. The food is good. We like the Lotus Chicken Lettuce Wraps, General's Chicken, Cashew Chicken and Beef with Black Bean sauce. The rice is ok, chow mein is ok. Wonton Soup is a must. Did I mention that they deliver??? I agree with previous posts - Super friendly staff...however I have never eaten in the restaurant so can't speak to the service.

I've been eating at Canton since I was a little kid. Still love the place after all these years. I haven't found a better place to eat chinese food in the tri valley. The family that owns it are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Most customers who go here are regulars, so hopefully yelp will send them new customers!

  • K L.

The food was disappointingly average. After reading all the positive reviews, my husband and I decided to give it a shot on our way home. The hot and sour soup was very thick and overly peppered. The potstickers were so so, and the dipping sauce was flavorless. The sesame beef was pretty decent as was the generals chicken, but were still pretty salty. The chicken chow mien was on par with panda express. Not at all what you would expect from an authentic Chinese restaurant. For the most part, the service was good. We had two waitresses - one was better than the other. The Hispanic girl was super dingy. Overall the experience was so so and felt like Chinese food from a food court at the mall. My recommendation would be to skip this place and to spend your money elsewhere.

We were really starving and wanted something different. So we decided on chinese food. We came here because our friends love them. There prices are moderate and the food was good. I ordered crab wontons and those were not bad. All in all I think its a great place for Chinese food.

This is the default Chinese restaurant my lunch buddies and I go to. I usually order the salt & pepper prawns or calamari lunch plate. I've had the egg foo yung & General Tso's chicken which are also very good. It was cold & rainy last week and I tried the wor won ton soup with noodles which was great. The service is always quick and the ladies who work there are really nice.

Really good food. Super nice staff. I mean SUPER DUPER nice. I'm pretty sure it's family owned and operated. The service is outstanding and they are hands down the best chinese food restaurant in the tri-valley. Now to the food...... I go there with my kids and are favorites are : Lemon chicken, pot stickers, chicken chow mein, cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken, general's chicken and their soups. I love the hot and sour and my girls love their egg drop. The fried bananas are heavenly. I never knew anything like this existed until I went there with a few friends for my bday and they brought them out as a treat. It was really nice. The staff couldn't be nicer. I can't stress this enough. And their food is outstanding and very consistent. Five stars all the way.

One hour and fourty minutes after a delivery order and nothing. When we called we were told we lied about how long the order was placed. Canceled the order, may have great food but i will never know, don't get delivery.

My parents used to come here all the time and I wasn't really the Chinese food person so I would never really eat anything; however, as I have grown up and started to like Chinese food I figured I would give this place a try....it was love!! All of their chicken dishes are white meat, heaven! Just enough sauce, great flavor. There General's Tso Chicken is our favorite and of course the Orange Beef. The staff is fabulous we are always seated right away, and immediately greeted with beverages. I dont come THAT much, but the staff always knows our order and its comes out SO fast!! We love Canton Village, its an addiction

Absolutely my new favorite Chinese place, I want to come back a dozen more times! The atmosphere was really nice, I liked the decorations and it really put me in the mood. The wait staff were very quick and polite, I never had to ask for anything from them because it was already there when I turned around!! The menu had a very nice selection and the prices were all good so I felt that I was definitely in the right place. But still sometimes these places look really well but have awful food. Luckily it was not the case with CV. I went with a group of friends and we ordered several entrees, and I made sure to try each of them. I can tell you, after personally consuming about a third of the menu, that it's ALL good. By the end of the meal it was a real battle to see who got to take home the left overs. I highly recommend this place.

Who ever said that Chinese Restaurants don't have good service?! I disagree! The service was 5 star! The Mexican busser, seated me, brought me H20 and hot tea right away. The nice older Chinese gentleman took my order pronto... The soup of my choice was brought henseforth... and whisked way apon finishing.. Good too.. My lunch entree thus ensued.. The rice tasted and smelled like it was burnt. The chow mein was undercooked and sweet, yuk... The kung poa had way too much zucchini,(I hate zuch), And was a bit spongy... ODD, But 5 stars for service, and evesdropping on the 3 some in some sort of service indusrtry, hotel?... And their plaststic surgery experiences, and their decided cheap tipping of $7.00 whole dollars per person, on their $6.25 dollar meal including tip. A-holes.. I left $8.25 at $6.25, and felt bad cuz I NEVER leave less than $3.00, but I am in bad finacial times... Very nice people. But the food didn't stand up to it, even being cheap.

I used to like thisplace because of their salt and pepper spicy prawns. I went recently with my sister and the prawns were a overfried mess! They also forgot the spicy peppers that make it spicy. Their hot and sour soup was seriously a disgrace. I have to find better chinese

  • Todd S.

I'm not a big fan of Chinese food, believe it or not, but this place is the bomb. It's very clean, the people are very friendly, and the food is fresh and good all around. Their spicy orange beef is the best, but everything I've had there has been really good.

Canton Village has the best Chinese food in Livermore. My family and I have been going there since they opened (like 25 years or so) and have NEVER been disappointed with their food. We have dinned in, done take out, and have even done the delivery service a couple of times. They are always very friendly, and the service is great. My new favorite is the sizzling pepper steak.

I have been eating at this place since I moved here about twelve years ago (yes, far too long.) This is my favorite place to eat for Cantonese-related cuisine. The Mongolian beef was always my favorite, and the peppery salted tofu is also fantastic. They have a great lunch special that lasts until about 2:30 PM - super cheap and comes with soup and hot tea. Always 100% excellent service no matter how busy they are. Affordable and a bargain for the quality of food.

This is our favorite Chinese place in Livermore. We have been going there for years and have never been disappointed by the food, friendly atmosphere, and excellent service. They also do a good job catering to vegetarians.

  • R H.

3 stars for friendly service but can't say that I would come back. The BBQ ribs were old, dried out, and lacked flavor. The wonton soup was just ok. The brown rice was really good. The kung pao chicken was just ok...I really don't like celery though and there was a lot of it in there. I've had a lot of really good Chinese food lately though so maybe I'm just being a bit spoiled. :) Given the choice, I would pay the extra cost and just get Uncle Yu's.

    (2)
  • Joie G.

It wasn't the best or the worst that I've ever had. I did like the eggplant and beef dish we ordered. The bbq pork fried rice lacked flavor and was lukewarm. The chow mein was tasty yet a little bit hard. It was decent but not a restaurant that I would go back to again.

Canton Village is by far the best Chinese food in Livermore...in fact, I haven't found a better chinese food place anywhere else in california. It is one of those restaurants you will use as a benchmark when gauging other chinese food places. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly (less common for chinese food), and service is great. My suggestion would be to order the fried bananas for desesrt.

I remember when this place used to be a Swensons Ice Cream Parlor. My family has been getting take from here forever. This place is what made me love Chinese food. I love the schezwan beef . It's not on the lunch menu but they always make it a lunch special for me. They never charge extra for fried rice or white rice, which other places do. You get a ton of food. I usually go for lunch and then eat the extras for dinner.

Amaze. For reals. My family has a tradition of getting dinner from Canton Village and we are never disappointed! We like to call ahead (Dinner A for 4) and they always have everything ready in 20 minutes or so. The staff is always super friendly and helpful with substitutions when needed. Also, when we eat there, they have food that my 2 year old niece loves. Love this place and will definitely be going back often. :-)

This was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten or rather attempted to eat. I ordered wor won-ton soup, beef teriyaki skewers, house fried rice, and chicken lettuce cups for take-out. This first thing I noticed was the wor won-ton soup was brown and not a golden color chicken broth. It tasted like soy sauce and water, had no flavor, smelled weird, and all the meats were over cooked and rubbery. When I finally found the won-tons at the bottom of the container, they were gummy and chewy with no flavor. Next, the beef teriyaki skewers tasted like baking soda! Tons of it and no teriyaki flavor at all. They were again chewy without flavor. The fried rice was dry, dark brown in color, no flavor, and again meats were rubbery. I guess the only seasoning they use is soy sauce, and not even a high quality one to boot. The only thing that tasted half way decent was the chicken lettuce cups. I threw the entire meal in the garbage which cost over $40!! Biggest waste of money ever. You are better off going to Safeway and eating their Chinese food from the deli or eating at Panda Express because the quality is better. And these places are not known for their high quality Chinese food. I know what good quality Chinese food tastes like and this sure as heck was not it at all. I will NEVER return to this restaurant again.

After a nice shopping trip at the outlets, we wanted to find some food around Livermore to sit out the massive traffic jam. Canton Village sounded promising as the reviews were good & so were the pics. Upon arrival, we were very skeptical because the strip mall was pretty deserted. The only other business that seemed to be doing business was the Little Caesar's a few stores down. It seemed to be pretty busy that night & the food was taking quite some time to come out. The waitress offered us complimentary soup as we waited which was nice. The hot & sour soup was on the sour side.. Not my cup of tea. Speaking of cups.. One of our cups was super dirty! The booths were ripped so we sat on a lot of duck tape & the placemat was an informational Chinese zodiac paper. Hmm.. Not off to a good start. We ordered the HK chow mein, eggplant with garlic sauce, crispy fish with garlic sauce & peppery salted prawns. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs cause we took half of it home! The chow mein was just okay to me.. The sauce was strangely overly cornstarch-y? The eggplant had weird seeds we'd never seen. The fish was not crispy enough, batter was light but it needed to have more of a crunch. The sauce on top killed any residual crunchiness. The peppery salted prawns were the winner with it's slightly spicy kick but again, we wished it was more crispy. This is definitely not authentic Chinese food.. I would skip this place. Maybe that's as good as it gets in Livermore but I expected more! Oh yeah, and there was the issue of them not fixing the ladies' restroom.. Which only allowed one person at a time. You can see my agony as that left only one other option... Fail.

OMG! Buuuurrp!!! The food was great. Not too salty with just the right kick, although i can handle more heat. The only critic i could think of was not enough noodles on our veggie chow mein, other than that awesome food! Will definitely be back.

Wonderful food! And the family that runs this restaurant is so sweet and nice. They will also accommodate food requests (low salt, low oil, etc). Always a great experience!

Food is consistently good. Very friendly and service is reliable. Very nice family owned and operated restaurant and definitely not chain type food. Lunch specials are great value.

My family usually gets Canton Village delivered at least once a month. We order quite a bit so we can have leftovers for the next couple of days. We've been customers for at least 5 years and there has never been a problem with our order. The delivery people are always nice (one we see often LOVES to say hi to our dogs) and the food is delicious. My personal favorites are sweet and sour pork as well as honey walnut prawns. Dining in is also a nice experience. The service is great and the general feel of the restaurant is nice. While I prefer to get delivery for convenience, it is very nice to be able to sit down in a relaxing environment as well.

The service is close to five stars, the food closer to two stars. They have a heavy hand with the seasonings, and not in a particularly good way. The hot and sour soup seemed to have a huge helping of black pepper, which isn't the type of hot that I expect from hot and sour soup (chili heat is more like it). My nephew doesn't like spicy food and his orange chicken was really spicy (chili, this time). My kung pao chicken suffered from way too much saltiness. The quality was good, but the seasoning was so off that it made this a likely no-go for a return visit I hope our experience was an anomaly, as the service was really good.

My husband and I come here several times a month. Great food and service every time! We usually have the Szechuan dinner for 2 and always have left overs! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Love this place!

The food was excellent! It didn't take too long. I've visited here twice and got the lunch combo. It is a great price for a great amount of food. The service wasn't too bad either. I do recommend visiting when they aren't too busy.

Won ton soup is always good when you're sick. I had been feeling under the weather for the past couple of days and today I finally felt like eating. I looked on line & read several reviews for Canton Village. I was very impressed with their service. They said to expect delivery in 45 minutes, but my soup arrive within 35 minutes. I liked the lemon chicken too. The food was very good. The soup had more veggies than I expected. I think I have found my new chinese food restaurant. Thank you Canton Village for making me feel better today!

Drove from Fremont to try something new. Was worth the Friday night traffic getting here. Had Mu Shu Pork, Lemon Chicken, and Crispy Fish. All were excellent. Would make the trip again!

I ordered their lettuce wraps here which was filled with chicken meat, bamboo shoots, and mushroom. It was delicious. I've been craving lettuce wraps for over a year now and I'm really happy to have found this random place on a whim. At first I was a bit worried because we came here on Saturday evening, and it looked pretty dead. But to my surprise the wraps were pretty good. The only reason why I took out a star? While I was still on my first lettuce wrap we were asked 3 different times by 3 different people, "How is everything?" Tone it down... trust that your food is good. Food: Excellent Service: Good Restaurant: Old (needs remodeling)

Our ultimate favorite. Family owned and I love supporting a local business. Favorite menu items are spicy green beans, and Generals Chicken. We are the type of family that order the same menu items every time we return. They are somewhat expensive, but if you compare to other local Chinese restaurants, they have all upped their menu prices. Never crowded, and if you're lucky, they make pork buns once a month and the owner will call me to special order when they make them. That I love! They also deliver, which is another bonus. We have a couple large parties for my daughter, it's her favorite restaurant in Livermore, and they will reserve the back of the restaurant for you, even if it's not huge, they have always been very accommodating to us. We are regulars because of it. It's our family gem!

Our family loves this place. Their food is fresh and always hot. I love the peppery beef, my wife loves the pepper calamari, and my daughter always gets the sweet & sour chicken. (We all eat these). The fried rice and chow mien dishes are delicious as well.

Went here for lunch today based on good yelp reviews and was not disappointed. In fact the food was better than I had expected! Had the shredded pork with spicy garlic sauce and substituted brown rice and steamed veggies. The steamed veggies were way better than I expected; high quality varieties of mushroom, baby corn, bok choy, celery, squash and more. All very fresh. Brown rice was cooked perfectly. The shredded pork had a nice pork to veggie ratio and the garlic sauce was spot on. Have to say that I enjoyed the food here better than Uncle Yu's, but the ambiance at Uncle Yu's is sexier. Service was better than I expected also. Everyone that walked in was immediately greeted with a smile and promptly seated. All the employees were smiling! Their sincere pride in their restaurant showed. I was promptly provided lemon wedges for my water when requested and my water glass was promptly refilled when it was half empty. They checked on me after serving my meal to make sure everything was okay (it was MORE than okay, it was delicious!). They promptly processed my credit card and I was in and out very efficiently. Downside: I was seated facing the door to the kitchen and the dirty dishes bin cart was right in plain sight. Also the door jam and door could use a good cleaning. Again, ambiance not as sexy as Uncle Yu's (but food was better).

A great family owned restaurant. The portions are generous without going overboard and the prices are very reasonable. Having tried all of the Chinese food places in the valley, this is the place to go for good Chinese food.

I was home sick and ordered delivery, there was a 20 dollar minimum order with a 4 dollar delivery charge. I ordered lotus chicken (lettuce wraps) and cashew chicken. The chow mein seemed fresh but the flavor was lacking. The steamed rice was tender and moist. The cashew chicken was nondescript. The dish was unseasoned and severely lacking in flavor. The lotus chicken was really tasty. It was the best thing I ordered and I definitely prefer their lotus chicken to P.F. Changs. I might not order delivery from them but I will definitely try their brick and mortar establishment. The three stars are based on my total experience from order to taste. I'll update when I have a sit down at Canton Village.

Wow! I have found my new go to Chinese restaurant. I have lived in Livermore for 5 years and never thought of trying this place. Our family eats Chinese food every New Years Eve and the places we have gone to in the past were not very good. We considered Uncle Yu's but thought against it since the kids wouldn't appreciate it. So I opened up my trusty Yelp app and found Canton Village. The reviews all sounded great so we checked out the menu. Winner winner! Orange Chicken-the kids scarfed it all down and I didn't get to try it, but it must have been good! Mandarin Orange Beef-delish. A hard dish to find at most Chinese restaurants and not as good as Uncle Yu's, but good enough for me to order when I'm not willing to spend buku bucks on orange beef. Kung Pao Chicken-my husband and BIL ate this themselves and didn't say much else buy the occasional "mmmmm", so it also must have been good! Spicy Golden Scallops- super yummy! Since our order was to go, the sauce was on the side. It was a sweet and spicy sauce and oh so delicious. And the golden coating on the scallops was crispy and crunchy with the sauce on the side. Didn't want soggy scallops! Mongolian Beef-really exceptional. Very spicy but full of flavor. One of my favorite dishes we had. Pork Chow Fun-I loved the noodles but wasn't too keen on the flavor of the pork. Next time I will order the beef. We also had veggie chow mein as there were 9 of us. It was full of fresh vegetables and tasted great! Overall great experience. Food wasn't too greasy or heavy. Rice is a separate cost so I cooked my own since we were feeding so many people. Definitely will be back.

I saw reviews on this place a couple years ago even before my brother bought in Livermore & his girlfriend got a lot of recommendations for this & I decided this was where I wanted to celebrate my b day last night. It is a very casual place with clothless tables, wonderful service, & Cantonese & Mandarin music playing. They answer your questions, make any recommendations, are very attentive without overdoing it, & can accomidate any size party with the greatest of ease, our party of six at a nice round table. The only suggestion I would make is that they should have lazy Susans. They serve Cantonese & Szechwan which are two of my favorites; nothing like being able to get your mild & hot fixes in one place. The pot stickers are crispy golden with a well seasoned ground pork, ginger, & cabbage filling perfect with the well balanced sweet & sour sauce. Egg rolls are crispy with a wonderful cabbage & vegetable filling with the same formentioned sweet & sour sauce. The crab rangoons are wonderful & a favorite of my niece's with a crispy golden won ton stuffeed with the perfect amount of crab meat & cream cheese with the sweet & sour sauce once again. My niece & my brother's girlfriend's mother could not get enough of the wor won ton soup which was all there's, but they raved about it. The sweet & sour fish is crispy & greasless with tender fish in the formentioned sauce with onions, green peppers, & pineapples. The kung pao chicken is pretty good packing a mild punch with tender chicken, celery, chili peppers, carrots, & chili sauce. The beef with green beans is excellent with tender beef & fresh crisp green beans in a spicy sauce that definitely packs a punch. The bbq pork chow mein is supurb with tender marinaded barbecued pork, onions, bean sprouts, & perfectly cooked noodles. We loved the refreshing water melon for dessert though I will have to try their fried bannanas next time. The fortune cookies weere fresh not stale. Round it off with a tall Tsing Tao & you will not be disappointed. So, for excellent Cantonese & Szechwan cuisine with friendly wservice in a casual atmosphere, Canton Village cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
