My husband and I went to Canetti's this week and we weren't sure what it would be like considering we love Italian/ Tuscan food and are always looking for places that serve good Italian food...well ok so this isn't really Italian food...but it was very good. The service was real slow and not busy at all...We watched the chefs talking (and eating, which I hate seeing...cooks eating the food they are preparing for me) anyway the halibut was very good, the linguini with seafood was bland and not enough seafood and the small plates are really small. but good. The olive oil is nothing special...not like Scopa's, but the focaccia bread was real tasty...and it was a bit pricy for Forestville...they will have to cater to Sebastopol people or Santa Rosa foodies....probably will go back for Brunch (Breakfast) or maybe lunch but not dinner. p.s. Our waitress was outstanding and knew the menu very well.

Some of the low star reviews must be people who are looking for American sized portions. I agree that everything is fresh, well prepared, and delicious! The staff is young but becoming more comfortable with their roles. Francesco is a creative generous in the kitchen and it shows in every dish. Try the tasting menu. You won't go away hungry and you'll get his inspired best. Very good if small wine list. Try the Trombetta Pinot...

We LOVE this restaurant.! The food, service and chef are all amazing and very special. Francesco Torre is a passionate chef, and the food he cooks and serves shows his passion and care for the food from the growing of it down to the serving of it. His wine pairings are also spot on! He explains the differences of Tuscan food from other Italian dishes, and he tells stories related to how the food came to be the way it is! We,ve been there twice, once with just another couple, and he came over to talk to us, and the most recent visit was with a large party (8). Usually, large parties don't get the best attention, but at this restaurant, the servers pay special attention to the guests and the food was superb! I hate to recommend this so highly, because I want to be able to get in there! Out back there is a lovely patio area that will be so nice in the summer! In Healdsburg or San Francisco, this restaurant would have lines out the door! This is no ordinary Italian restaurant! Don't expect pizza and spaghetti...it's a true Tuscan experience! Ciao

This place is absolutely incredible! Let's just start off by saying that every single detail of Canneti Roadhouse is completely on point. The colors of the restaurant as well as the decorations are so beautiful, well-thought out, and work excellently as a backdrop to a profoundly delicious meal. Now, let's talk food. Actually, let's a take a step back from the dinner table, because a meal at Canneti's is an actual living, breathing piece artwork that is done in a completely unpresumptuous manner. The "little bites" were just right. An explosion of flavor packed into delicate, single-bite servings. The soup "shooters" were one of my personal favorites. Everyone involved in the dinner process at Canneti was so very helpful and welcoming. An extremely knowledgeable, yet, again, completely unpresumptuous staff. My pick of the evening was the rabbit and squaw salad. Absolute perfection! Thank you to Francesco, the chef and owner of Canneti Roadhouse, as well as all of the staff for an amazing meal and a wonderful experience. We will return soon!

This place is the real deal. Perfect blend of West County and central Italy. Serious food. The place is at its most inviting when the lights are dim and the fire going. The brick walls, hard floor, and wooden table tops need a little softening up.

This is a charming restaurant with a caring staff and a very involved Chef who actually takes the time to talk to his customers. It's obviously a labor of love and should be respected as such. Apparently - judging by a couple of reviews - it's not for everyone. We had the Zucchini Fritters, the Grilled Romaine, Maccheroni with Wild Boar which was definitely wild because my wife found the bullet in her pasta and for which the Chef graciously bought us dessert. I had the Bollito which was excellent. They have good quality wine, many by the glass. I don't understand the nasty reviews. If you don't appreciate good quality, locally procured ingredients at fair prices then you need to eat somewhere else. Maybe Denny's would be good. If you get to the Russian River area don't miss this place. It will not disappoint...unless it's too good for you.

I don't know what all the hype was about... We had heard all these great things about the restaurant but when we got there and opened the menu , we were just dismayed with the combinations of food on the menu and the astronomical prices...and we walked out. If you like concrete floors and a dark cave-like ambiance, you'll feel right at home... The wine prices were reminiscent of Beverly Hills or Newport Beach...and perhaps that's the crowd that is easily fooled by this marketing technique. We were so disappointed....is this the trend to attract patrons who are just enamored with being "in."

Had a wonderful lunch here today. Met Francesco Torre the owner, delightful guy. My wife had grilled romaine lettuce salad with toasted walnuts, candied lemon peel, rehydrated apricot bits with a great olive oil and fresh lemon juice dressing, light and delicious. Francesco's take on carbonara is with small rotelli, perfect egg/cheese and mascarpone instead of cream! Worked for me. Great back patio. Looking forward to getting on the mailing list for some special events. Billy was our server, knowledgable. Francesco is from Tuscany, spent two years at Tra Vigne in St. Helena, has found a great spot here in isolated Forestville. Worth a journey (not too long)

2 stars for the food alone. I gave them an extra star because the service was very good. The food wasn't horrible. But nothing really impressed me and I have no desire to go there again. There was nothing that made me think, I have to come back to try this again. The fresh pasta was gummy. Halibut was over-cooked. Everything was bland. Some odd flavor profiles that I wouldn't expect in Italian cuisine. Overall very disappointed.

My apology , I was there Sunday and not Saturday like I stated in my review so this may give the owner a little more accurate explanations to my earlier comments, I must say that I was a little taken back at the response to my review and a business owner with that lack of tact! explaining or perhaps going that far on the defensive that it was borderline extreme anger!!! Insulting potential customers that if they didn't have a good experience at his restaurant they should eat at Mc Donald's or Arby's? Just wondering how long this fool will be in business with this kind of behavior...Good Luck! wont be back and I also have a large network of friends that I will advise to do the same....

The food was great. The staff was very nice. We enjoyed the look of the place. We liked how you saw the Chef. However, don't ask for butter for your bread - it may cause some issues (the Chef got upset). I would go back, the food was great! (I just would not ask for butter with my bread).

Canneti is a fantastic Italian place on an unassuming road in Forestville. It's got a fairly distinctive exterior with the blasted stone walls which make it look like it belongs in a desert somewhere. Walk in, and it's awesome. Clean, wine country decor, with a fantastic group table / dining room in the back and a beautiful garden/outdoor seating area - complete with Fig trees and other plants. Service was friendly, but a little leisurely. But it was lunch on a Weds in wine country. I wasn't in any rush so it was not an issue. Food was fantastic. We had the: - Tuna of the Chianti - which was basically DELICIOUS pork over beans and olive oil. - Maccheroni with white pork ragu - first time having a white ragu, but it was delicious and subtle - Pork cutlet sando - Quite possibly the best pork cutlet Ive ever had, on really great housemade foccacia. This was the star of the lunch. I would eat this everyday. The place does everything farm to table, and as you can see - they do really awesome pork dishes. If you're up here and like the swine, make the time~!

A lovely and tastefully furnished restaurant with one foot in wine country and the other in rustic Italy. The purity of the ingredients, the careful preparation, personal service and enthusiasm of our server----this is what makes a dinner special. The chef's bolognese was letter-perfect, and his homemade pasta was just as perfect. The wine list was fairly priced and out together with great care and understanding of the menu. Both the halibut and the trout were impeccably fresh, presented beautifully, and accentuated by their subtle sauces and plating partners. This is a very, very good restaurant with an attentive chef-owner, a terrific waitstaff, and the opportunity to dine unpretentiously and respect great ingredients. My Guests were discerning diners, and they felt the same way.

We had such an amazing time at Canneti Roadhouse. We sat in the back patio and the atmosphere was so romantic and idyllic. Our waitress Kristin was so friendly and personal with our group and we were treated like kings and queens. Francesco the owner came out to talk to us about our wine choice and he told us such a heartfelt story. The food was cooked with love and soul and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a soulful dining experience. We will for sure be back! Thank you again!!

I'm really surprised to see so many great reviews here! I have been to Canneti twice. The first time, I just had drinks and appetizers. I was a part of a large party. The general consensus of us all was, "Lovely outdoor patio! Food was very over-priced and pretty meh." Today was my second time eating here. Backyard (the restaurant across the street) was closed, and despite a friends warning that last time she had eaten at Canneti it was awful, we decided to give Canneti another try. Well, unless some major changes take place, this was definitely my last trip in. 2 of us ordered the Carbonara, both of whom agreed it could have been a microwave meal. My husband had the sausage-stuffed chicken, which he said was "mediocre, at best" I had the grilled romaine salad, which came out burnt. I live in Sonoma County. I'm used to paying Sonoma County prices for fabulous meals. Canneti just doesn't, in any stretch of the imagination, add up. It is really expensive for what you get! The outdoor patio is so lovely it might be worth it to show up here for drinks... but if you get hungry, you're kind of screwed.

Had the most amazing meal of my life here in the little town of Forestville, CA. Our server, Natasha, was friendly, warm and graceful, recommending us some incredible wine with our meals, and highly encouraged us to try at least one of their delectable desserts... We got two! ;-) I would highly recommend you make a special stop to this gem in a tiny, little, drive-through town! Be sure to drive slow... Or you might miss it! Prepare yourself for a lovely and possibly evening!

We stopped near Forestville for lunch yesterday and first ended up at a nearby winery trying got get lunch. The winery had dozens of open seats, but told us we needed to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Then they offered wine tasting while we waited at $10 - a taste - thanks, but no thanks. Then we decided to look what other restaurants were in the area and stumbled into Canneti's. Going there was the best decision we made all day. The service and food is outstanding at this restaurant. We ordered a couple of seafood dishes, and without even having to ask the waiter let us know about the sustainable vendors where the fish were sourced from. Our food was in front of us in minutes. The food and flavors were some of the best that I have had eating out in a long while - everything was cooked to perfection. The ambiance on the back patio is very pleasant, and inside there is original artwork by the owner's family. The taste and quality of the food was top notch and relatively affordable, and I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

My wife ordered the mozzerela ravioli in clam sauce with broccoli rabe for pick up. I picked it up and the restaurant seems very nice, the waitstafff were professional, very elegant ambiance. But the box of food that cost twenty dollars, for one entre, hardly contained any food at all, about as much as a newborn baby could eat. I tried a little bit of what there was; it was alright, certenly not as good as the restaurant portrays, and certainly not worth the price. The flavors were discernable, but there was so much grease in the box, the butter flavor was overwhelming against anything else. Overall, we were very disappointed. I'm sure the experience might have been better if we had dined in, but as we didn't, I feel two stars was just right.

The food was more for the eye and not the palate! We waited two hours for the food and was never offered a refill on tea or drinks! The server was nice, but really, two hours and then to be served top roman with two little craw fish that had absolutely nothing in them. My husband and our friends had the pork. It was tough and grizzly! Yuck! I was asked if I was enjoying my meal and I was honest and they did comp my dish and did comp dessert! That was very nice of them, but after the long wait and having other plans to be delayed to...I won't be back. I just wasted 108$ plus tip. Ouch!!!

Just felt compelled to say something about this place. One star, and only because the wine was good. Not impressed with service at all. The server did say she was new and it was only her third week, but it seemed like she was not even trying. Had to ask for bread several times before she finally brought it. That was about 30 min waiting. Mind you, they only had customers at four tables. Had to wait for food for close to an hour and was very unimpressed. Salmon ravioli presentation was good, but it tasted like the fish was way over cooked, and just "fishy". Spaghetti with "fake" sugo was so bland, I could only stomach few bites. We asked for fresh ground pepper and were handed a pepper shaker. Server never asked if we were enjoying the meal. I guess the fact that only few bites were missing out of both plates did not clue her in that something was wrong. Spent close to two hours there mostly waiting... Two hours of my life I'll never get back. Don't go, waste of time and money. I would have asked for a refund, but did not want to wait another hour.

Despite other good reviews, I, for one, will not return to Canneti Roahdouse. An overzealous server oversold the food (but made us chuckle every time she tried sounding educated yet mispronounced the foods she was serving.) In fact, with the exception of the Garden Squash with Melted Mozzarella appetizer, nothing was that great. It was edible but not befitting a high end restaurant and most definitely not the outrageous prices. One dish that I would advise any visitor to stay away from is the Hand cut Chick Pea Noodles with Pink Bay Shrimps and Basil-Mint Pesto. The noodles were not the problem, they were actually interesting, but the shrimp was not fresh, tasted way too fishy, and was plain rubbery. And despite the restaurant advertising cooking local only, the shrimp came from Oregon, far from local... It's possible that my expectations were too high, but a $180 bill for two (including one $40 bottle of wine) really does call for excellent food, no matter where you are. Canneti Roadhouse, unfortunately, served us food that was more fitting of a fancy cafeteria than a high end restaurant.

My husband surprised me with a dinner at Canneti Roadhouse for my birthday! Wow and Wow! A fantastic evening at a FIRST-CLASS restaurant! Our server was attentive and helpful. The dinner was, without a doubt, THE BEST Italian food I've ever eaten! THE BEST!! Every dish was more than delicious, and beautifully presented! I love the ideas of "locally grown" and "sustainable". All of this and delicious, too! That, plus a warm, friendly visit from Chef Francesco! Obviously, we can't say enough about this beautiful restaurant! We will tell EVERYONE we know , and, in fact, took a stack of business cards with us! Great place for an intimate evening, special occasion, or just an evening of fabulous flavors and textures ! We can hardly wait to return!

I took my two daughters to Canneti's and sat near the kitchen. My oldest daughter is a serious foodie and loves to cook. We weren't sure what to expect, but started ordering. I ordered Roasted Blue Cottage Garden Squash with Melted Mozzarella, crispy Anchovies and Caper Sauce and my daughter had the duck ravioli dish. My youngest, who likes simple vegan foods was served an eggless pasta marinara dish that she devoured. We also enjoyed several appetizers and desserts. Although we were sitting at a table, my daughters really wanted to see the action in the kitchen so they asked if they could sit at the bar to see the chefs cook. My oldest was overjoyed when the chefs took time to share a few tips with her and explain what they were doing. We want to come back to Forestville specifically to dine at Canneti's Roadhouse!

This was my second visit...Maybe I ordered wrong, the Faro-Barley salad was almost tasteless; I wanted it warmed up but didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Then the Crispy Cauliflower..I was expecting yummy, crispy, lightly coated cauliflower but instead I got thickly battered/seasonless cauliflower and the actual veggie was hardly crispy! Tomato mayo/hardly flavorful. My Sister had the Maccheroni which she enjoyed immensely! The foccachia is yummy. Being a major foodie/ex-asst. head chef the foccachia and the nice waitress do not make it worth the 50 mile one way trip from Marin! Except 116 is a gorgeous drive!! And again, the owner went to every table around ours but apparently had nothing to say to us, feels weird in such small environment! We had questions for him, about food, wine, his youth, but never got the chance......I'm stickin' to Café Giostra in Petaluma!

I live in Forestville and last night went to Canneti's for the first time after reading some reviews here on Yelp. I certainly am glad that I did. I had the delicious pasta with Tuscan meat sauce, YUMMY and the home made foccaccia was delicious as well. Price was very reasonable and most of all I had a very nice time at the restaurant which can be difficult when out dining alone. I sat at the bar in the back area and all the staff were very, very friendly and made me feel right at home plus I got to hang out with the chef Francesco while out there since this is also where the grill is. He is a truly delightful man and treats his staff extremely well. He told me all about their farm, the animals and all the fruit and vegetables they grow there and as a matter of fact he had just picked bucket loads of peaches from the orchard that very day so I was fortunate enough to be given a complimentary grilled peach which had been grilled with salt, pepper & balsamic vinegar and was just heaven. I will most definitely be making this one of my regular local spots to visit.

We walked in at 3:00 pm and they were closing to setup for dinner, but guess what? the Chef told us to come in and personally cooked for us and served us, the place was all to ourselves, it was the most amazing experience I have had in a very long time, the food was AMAZING, we could not believe how lucky we were, I recommend this place over and over, thank you Chef Francesco!!!

Canneti Roadhouse Italiana is a one-of-a-kind find in Sonoma County, and my wife and I are so glad we found it. In fact, after one dinner there, we decided to hold our entire wedding and reception with Chef Francesco a few months later. We can say without hesitation that everything -- the planning, menu-tasting, communication, service, and, of course, food -- was perfect. Francesco and his staff were over-the-top accommodating and gracious throughout every step of the process -- and every last-minute change we made. Most people's wedding planning is a stressful nightmare, but ours was almost inconceivably simple, and that's due in large part to Francesco Torre and his awesome staff, who took care of everything in the most accommodating, professional manner. When we got there to set up, everything was pretty much ready to go, as we'd requested, with both the interior and the back patio looking spotless and beautiful. Our guests raved about the food (obviously), the comfortable and homey firepit and patio, and just the generally relaxed and laidback atmosphere of the place -- upscale, but comfy and un-stuffy. One guest called it "chic and rustic, with amazing food," which was 100% what we were going for. Francesco planned a top-notch tasting menu (roughly seven courses, at a pretty much unbeatable price), with an incredible selection of Italian and local wines as well. Francesco's modern Tuscan cuisine would be a great find even in a big city, but in Forestville, it truly is outstanding and one of a kind. We wouldn't have had it any other way, and we're so thankful to Francesco, Natasha, Kiersten, Rochelle, Connor, Andrew, and the rest of his staff (whose names we didn't get -- sorry!) for an unforgettable evening. We can't wait to return.

Fabulous food and service I went with my cycling buddies to Canneti for my birthday lunch and it was wonderful - the food, the service, the atmosphere - it was perfect. If you go at lunchtime, make sure to order the lemonade - the best I've ever had. And the bread - ohmygod! I ordered the egglplant pasta dish for lunch, and it was incredible. In fact, everyone (there were about 15 of us), raved about the food. We were a large group, and the server did a wonderful job. The atmosphere was perfect - rustic, yet comfortable. I certainly plan on returning.

Impromptu stop in. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had. Next, lavender infused mashed potatoes. 10 out of 10!!! They custom made a pasta dish for my pregnant lady friend, and she loved it to. Fresh shortbread cookies to go. Yesssss!!

This place is definitely going to be a regular stop on my trips to Sonoma!! Gosh, where to start, because I loved every bit of it. We showed up on a Sunday night, and it was quiet and low key. So instead of sitting on the beautiful, Wisteria draped patio, I opted to sit at the Chef's Counter and chat with Chef Francesco Torre. The place is beautiful, casual and elegantly rustic. Beautiful spring flowers and herbs are scattered throughout the restaurant. Tory Curreri, the Sommelier, was fabulous and knowledgeable. We had brought our own wine, and the corkage was $20, which is about average. However, Tory was very accommodating, decanted our wine for us, and even offered some tastes of some lovely Italian wines that paired amazingly with the appetizers. I have to say, next time I'm going to do the Chefs' menu with the wine pairing! They had very nice wine list, featuring both Italian and local wines, but I digress.... Chef was amazing. We chatted at length about my gluten intolerance and he completely tailored a Tuscan Tasting Menu just for me!! 5 courses of small plates that were an exquisite marriage of taste and texture, I was in heaven! Even, better, were his stories about the food. Both how it was locally sourced and grown. What was in season, and how the dishes related to his home in Tuscany . Watching him work, was like watching someone play great music, both absorbed and focused on every detail. If I had one wish, it would be that I lived closer.

Canetti is a wonderful restaurant. Chef is Francesco Torre, formerly of Fish in Sausalito. Tuscan-inspired with local flair. Pasta made in house. Each item was prepared with thought and care, and, most importantly, everything tasted incredible. a few highlights: - local cheeses served with honey and walnuts on home-made crostini - chick-pea soup with rosemary flowers - sliced pork belly on house-baked bread Enjoy!!

This was a lovely place to celebrate our anniversary. Almost all of the food that we had was totally delicious. Beautiful and yummy salad with peaches and blue cheese, with a light vinaigrette dressing. Excellent gnocchi and maccheroni pastas. Great focaccia. Very tasty espresso semifreddo for dessert. The only dish that I didn't love was the chick-pea pasta with bay shrimp; someone else might like it fine, but it wasn't my favorite. Great modern-rustic decor. Clean, simple, and tasteful. Pretty back patio, too. Our server was just a little *too* attentive and chatty (trying too hard), but nice. If Yelp would allow half-stars, I'd give this restaurant a 4.5 rather than a 4. We are very glad we dined there, and will do so again.

We were eager to try this place as we are locals and dying for something to replace our favorite Mosaic that operated in this same location. We were sadly disappointed and not at all sure we want to give it another try. First red flag was when I was asked to provide a credit card when making a reservation. Really? I've dined at 5 star places and not been asked for a credit card to hold my reservation. They explained that the place was small (it is) and therefore they had to do this. OK... We don't drink and they seemed sad when we refused the wine menu. Their available non-alcoholic drinks were iced tea, lemonade and a citrus italian soda that didn't resemble anything remotely citrus, but actually tasted much like licorice. The place does have a nice atmosphere and as I said, we had high hopes for the food. We ordered two appetizers, the Tuna of Chianti and the selection of meats. The Tuna of Chianti was highly recommended by the waiter, but is essentially pulled pork and was not very flavorful at all. The selection of meats was sparse, with only two crostini for about 6 times as much meat. One of the selections was Lardo...it took us a bit to realize that it was essentially just fat. We ordered the endive salad which was soaked in oil and sauteed. Mushy and again, not flavorful. The persimmons were tasty, but the raisins were soaked in rum...and as we don't drink, were a problem. We never saw the foccaccia...that would have been a nice touch. Our reservation was for 6 pm and our entrees arrived at 7:25 pm. hmmmmm. And after all of the credit card to reserve your reservation hub hub, by 7:25, the place was only about 1/2 full. sigh. We all ordered different entrees. I'm vegetarian so I ordered the risotto cakes with mendocino hedgehogs. The cakes were dry and crispy and there were far too few hedgehogs. The portion was very small. My husband had the veal shank and while the meat was tasty, he reported the polenta to be very bland. Again the portion was very small. Another one of our party had the ravioli which seemed to be the best thing on the menu and the fourth the cod, which he felt was OK and was probably the only substantial portion at the table. We unfortunately did not have time for dessert as we had an 8 pm engagement. We had thought two hours for dinner would have been plenty, but we rushed out before we could finish. The bill was $174 without wine. Quite steep for what we received. Its too bad. The place is lovely and the wait staff friendly. Forestville is screaming for a great restaurant. Lets bring Mosaic back!

Awful. Got off to a bad start when the waitress failed to notice a large chip missing from the appetizer plate, followed by tiny portions of everything including overly salty pasta with crayfish. The menu is limited and food was utterly uninspired, except for the tasty pheasant terrine. Service was ill-timed, pathetically amateurish and a tad snooty , except for the busboy who was attentive to refilling water glasses. The kitchen seems paralyzed - well over an hour before our main course arrived on a night where the dining rooms were not crowded, total of two hours from our arrival until the four of us left without ordering from the minimalist-choice dessert menu. The setting is uninspired with its low ceilings and painted brick, although it's too bad that Mosaic failed in this perhaps doomed location.

Wow! I really must have hit this place on an off night. A couple of nights ago I had a truly terrible meal and the bill (for 2, with a bottle of wine and tip) was $175. The service was prompt and pleasant and the room itself was very nice. But these factors could not make up for the fact that the food was a mish-mosh of ingredients badly prepared. We had been told that the restaurant "is not the typical Italian restaurant." The chef grew up in Tuscany, our server told us, and he cooks "traditional Tuscan food with a California twist." I have traveled in Tuscany and absolutely loved the food, so I was expecting a great meal. Perhaps this is why I was so pissed off at what arrived on our plates. We both started with the grilled endive salad. It wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't "worth a long-distance phone call", as my father in law used to say. There were raisins and pomegranate seeds sprinkled on the plate and it was all drizzled with some sort of balsamic reduction. The "3 pasta" first course, which we shared, was a disaster. The gnocchi had been cooked so long they had the consistency of mashed potatoes. They almost dissolved into the pasta sauce. The "crab 3 ways" should have been called "crab 3 days", because that's how old the crab tasted. The final pasta was the best of a bad lot (slow braised meat sauce) but once again, the pasta was so overcooked that it fell apart when you picked it up with a fork. The words "al dente" have obviously never made it into this chef's vocabulary. The two main courses we had were not as bad as the pasta first course but they were pretty grim. The pheasant pie was accompanied by a little ceramic flower pot filled with the most over-cooked red bell peppers I've ever been served. My dining companion's fish dish seemed like a random assortment of whatever vegetables the chef had in the kitchen served with a piece of not-so-fresh-tasting fish. Bottom line: Given all the positive reviews, maybe I just had back luck at Canneti. But at this price point, I'm sure not going to give them a second chance.

We made reservations the first week they were open (soft) and were excited to dine there. Mixed feelings at this point but it's still early. The food was great albeit the portions sizes were extremely small. Nice rustic serving dishes the shape of a deep ramekin but only 3/4" deep in pasta. Huh? Crawfish Spaghettini was tasty but gone in 3 bites. Need to work on portion sizes, please! We had starters, bread, entrees, 3 bottles of wine (4-top) and dessert and I was hungry when I got home. We brought two bottles of wine and ordered a $100 Brunello off the wine list. Two corkage charges on the bill. Hmm. Dined at Della Santina in Sonoma a few nights prior with some wine geek friends and corkage was waived 1/1 for every bottle we purchased off the wine list. That seems standard. Service was good but the waitress was noticeably nervous. That will pass with time. Liked the decor, a touch loud in the dining room. Look forward to Summer evenings on the patio. Francesco, are there any plans for Sunday Brunch? Wanted so bad to fall in love with Canneti as we were huge Mosaic fans and just adore the location. Right now we are in a holding pattern waiting to see how things develop as they get into high gear.

Francesco is brilliant. His food is always interesting, flavorful and bright. My family loves this place. The staff is always friendly, the menu changes often and the wine list is also a great blend of Italian and local wines! Great to have amazing food in west county!

Had a nice meal there last night. The fixtures are well thought out, From the storefront through the dining spaces in to the backyard. Really genuine people front of the house to back of the house. Wish them good fortune

There is no higher praise I can give a restaurant than to say that I will eat there again. I will eat at Canneti's Roadhouse again...and again! My husband and I live in Forestville, so I am rather saddened to say that today was our first time eating at Canetti's even though it has been in town two years...to think what we've been missing! I tend to judge a restaurant by its soups and the soup of faro, lightly infused with rosemary, did not disappoint. Delicious. The chef, Francesco Torre, took the time to tell us about the home-cured salumi, hand-made pastas, and local sourcing for everything on the menu. Impressive, but better yet, tasty. The environment is friendly, the kitchen open to the dining room, and the wait staff well trained. We had lunch so didn't try any of the "main" dishes but came away with smiles on our faces and well-satisfied. Who could ask for more? 4plus stars! Can't wait to try dinner.

Sunday evening dinner May 19 XLNT! Food delicious, carefully, imaginatively prepared and served. Very high marks indeed. I'm not sure Jeff Cox gets it, i.e., regarding Tuscan recipes. We certainly plan to go back for other delicacies.

Tasting menu was to die for! All organic, all sustainable, incredibly fresh. Attention to detail was tremendous by Chef Francesco Torre. The ice cream and pasta are home made, and he even presses his own olive oil! Absolutely worth the drive to Forestville!

You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into opening Canetti. It boasts a quiet patio with tables that are perfectly spaced around an old fig tree. Great wine list, with an emphasis on good values from Italy. The pasta is hand made and both of our dishes were excellent. Attentive but not obtrusive service. One of the best restaurants we've found in Sonoma Co. A sleeper for now.

The food was salty. We were in the eatery for TWO HOURS before the food appeared at our table. The kitchen was very SLOW in its preparation. The prices for food are expensive. The wine list has only very expensive listings. I will not return.

The restraunt was cute, good service, but the food was way overpriced and the portion size was rediculously small. The food was tasty but it had better be amazing at the prices they want and it was just worth it.

SPECTACULAR -- and a bargain!! Went to Canetti on a recommendation from staff at the Farmhouse (and from Littorai winery) though we originally had reservations elsewhere. We were seated outside, which was lovely -- and warm, thanks to several space heaters. Our server was darling, sweet and knowledgable about menu items. Her shadow, a trainee, was terrific, too. Our server kindly offered to bring a taste of a wine I was unfamiliar with before I committed to ordering it, which was really nice. Both of the wines by the glass we ordered (a nice selection from which to choose) were lovely. We ordered the beluga lentil terrine and grilled calamari as antipasti. The lentil terrine was creamy, rich and delicious. (I love lentils and still would never have guessed the terrine contained them; it tasted meaty and wonderful.) The calamari was grilled to absolute PERFECTION and was tender and charred and smokey -- fabulous! For our entrees we ordered the veal shank on polenta and the duck ravioli and shared them. The ravioli were pillow-soft, rich and generously filled. The sauce was superb (can I tell you how thankful I was for the arrival of another -- third? fourth? -- plate of that yummy focaccia for cleaning that plate of every last drop of sauce?!). The polenta was seasoned beautifully and made from a coarse ground meal so the texture was chewy & delicious. The veal shank couldn't have been any better: tender, rich...as perfect as everything else. We were SO happy with every last bite of everything! Desserts were delicious. Go with your server's recommendation for the cannoli, it was fabulous. The ricotta tart's crust was a tiny bit thick but was still fabulous. We had two desserts because the chef sent out the cannoli for free. It's our anniversary :-) and that was a lovely gesture. Another lovely gesture? Sending the server over with cash to cover our cab fare back to Farmhouse. We declined because it was just too gracious (come ON! Who does that?! SO nice)! Pricing was absolutely on par with the quality. My husband and I agreed it was a bargain, all things considered. Service was attentive & gracious, food was amazing. We live in Los Angeles and go out a lot; we know good food, and this is very, very good food. Our entire order, beginning to end, was fabulous. We'll go back next year when we're back in town. GO TO CANETTI. It was spectacular -- and superlatives don't come easily to LA diners ;-).

We are lunch at Canetti's Roadhouse yesterday as one of 3 meals celebrating our anniversary. We are San Francisco foodies and we had enjoyed a superb meal there in July. Once again the food was exceptional. We had 4 elegantly prepared dishes and all hit the mark. The pizzza with mozzarella, olives, pancetta and arugula was memorable as was the spaghetti pasta filled with flavors that we have never before experienced. Even the focaccina was rosemary flavored with a blue cottage coppa that was outstanding. We ate a late lunch outdoors on a lovely day and could not have asked for a better setting. The food was reaonably priced for its quality, but this is not an inexpensive restaurant. However, if you want a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend Canetti's. It is comparable to the top echelon of San Francisco restaurants. Malcolm Gissen San Francisco

My husband and I live within walking distance from Canneti and have wanted to try it out since it opened. We dont get to eat out alot at nicer restaurants simply because we cannot afford to on a regular basis but we do go out for special occasions, in this case our anniversary. It was a Tuesday night so we were expecting it to be quiet and I think there may have only been one or other two tables filled that night. We stood at the door for about 5 minutes until finally the chef got frustrated and went to go track down the hostess/waitress. She was super awkward and seemed very disinterested in us the entire time we were there. The food was AMAZING....BUT...we walked out of there starving. We shared a salad that consisted of a few leaves of baby greens, a few slices of carrot and about 1-2 tiny baby potatoes quartered for $12. It would not have even been a big enough salad for one person to eat. My husband ordered the maccheroni that was a nice portion, and very tasty. I had the fresh ricotta dumplings with smoked steelhead and asparagus. 3 small dumplings (about the size of a tablespoon) with a sprinkle of smoked steelhead and a drizzle of sauce with about 1 asparagus spear cut up. $20. It was very delicious, but I wish when I had asked about the size of the plates (having read reviews about the very small portions of some menu items) the waitress was a little more accurate when she explains the plate size is the size of the actual plate not how much food is actually on the plate. It was a very good meal but for $100 for a glass of wine, 1 amuse bouche, a salad and 2 small pasta dishes we walked out of there disappointed and hungry. Maybe a little bread or something before the meal? Having lived in Healdsburg and eaten at almost every restaurant there (which has some of the best I've been to) we walked away wishing we had taken the drive to Scopa or Bravas. We would love to come back simply because the food was divine, but the waitress and prices will definitely cause us to think twice.

Wow! Delicious food! For an appetizer we ordered the "Tuna of the Chianti" which is actually pork sitting in a sea of butter beans. I forget how it got its confusing name. For the main dish I ordered the hen stuffed with handmade sausage and I was glad I did. It can with roasted peppers and prunes, all of which made for a mouthwatering dish. My boyfriend ordered a pork dish and he was also very satisfied. None of is ordered wine as we had been tasting all day, but they seemed to have a good selection (of course).

This is an awesome restaurant! The staff is so genuinely friendly, the chef is very nice and hospitable, and the food is amazing! We stumbled upon this place by chance and I'm so glad we did! The wine selection is incredible as well. I hate going to Italian restaurants that don't actually have good Italian wines but this place has both the food and the wine! I live all the way in Pleasant Hill but I plan on making the trip back to go to Canneti again soon. Also the owner makes sure that every little thing he serves is quality and as local as can be. He even makes his own olive oil! I really appreciate the attention to detail and it definitely pays off!

Bravo! Duck Raviol in porcini duck sugo, beluga lentil terrine in perfectly seasoned salad, bolognese on homeade penne, nice service, a lot of energy went into this place which is a gem. Run to this restaurant, support them, by far one of the best meals I have had in a long time in the county

We're locals who watched eagerly for Canneti to open. We envisioned somewhere we'd come regularly for a night out in our own town, a place that we could show off to company. We came last week to celebrate a special occasion. Now, I had read all the reviews and honestly couldn't believe that I would ever side with the folks who wrote about their disappointment at a place that's obviously trying so hard to be great. Sadly, I'm now a believer. The many staff were constantly lingering nearby. I don't agree that service was slow; we were watched like hawks and constantly approached as we tried to talk. But what I really noticed was our server's pretentious gushing about everything we were about to taste. For all the overblown praise, I thought that what I was about to savor would blow my mind. The only thing blown was my graduation celebration. We ordered the miner's lettuce salad, and as soon as it arrived with 12 sprigs of the edible weed that grows abundantly outside my door, I wondered if we had been had. I readied my fork for food bliss, because, if it's $12 for a few greens and strips of cured fish, it must be divine. Honestly, no. It was merely ok. The beet pasta was sufficient, unique and tasty, but our inadequate "main" course was outrageous. We didn't want to be disappointed like the other reviewers so we asked our chatty server if pasta and a main would be adequate. How frustrating that we left not even full, satisfied and actually a little bit angry. She didn't warn that the main course choice would consist of ONE small PIECE of vegetable alongside the lonely dwarf potato cake and skimpy greens. I talked to my coworker and fellow local who went with her husband and mom and they were given the same two thumb-sized bits of focaccia that we were, but for a table of three. They had to ask for more! I know the owner reads these reviews. He of course considers his food art, and no one's looking for heaps of chow or a manwich, Ruth. But honestly, feed us. The food is yummy and the price is up, so just be a little more generous with it. How many more reviews must be posted before the owner relents and adds an additional tiny potato cake to the plate? I mean, who printed the menu that clearly states "cakes"? Plural. Come on. Judging by the other reviews, this issue could definitely make or break the future success of this restaurant.

I thought that Canneti was OK. Born and raised in NJ, I grew up eating Italian food. I think that this has made me a tough critic. We started with the sardines. They were tasty but super oily. They ran out of bread during our meal which was disappointing. For entrees, we had gnocci which was pretty tasty albeit lacking in flavor. The seafood lasagna was decadent. We didn't realize that it had bechamel sauce or else I'd never have ordered it. My husband loved it; for me, it was way too rich. My husband had a few beers. We weren't impressed with their selection. All in all, it was a $90 meal. I would probably not go back. I think that there are other much better restaurants in the area.

What a special place---and what attention to detail. We finally tried Canneti and had a most delicious lunch. Truly. Now, I've been reading all the Yelp reviews on Canneti and was hesitant to come but I live here and wanted to support the efforts of the owner and staff. I am very glad I tried it and can write this review. FOOD: we were greeted, decided to have lunch outside in the back patio and were brought super yum homemade foccacia with delicious oil while we perused the menu. I decided on the PORK SAUSAGE and my partner had a larger meal, a PORK CHOP with sweet potatoes and greens. We also ordered a side of the baby ARTICHOKE HEARTS. One glass of red wine from Siena rounded out our meal. Folks, everything was incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. I must say, the pork chop was the best chop I have EVER tasted (i was doled out a little tiny bite from across the table)...the chop was huge, the meal substantial and divine ($22). My pork sausage (with onions soaked in wine?) was super tasty and came with tenderly dressed lettuce. I feel that the sausage (which is in the shape of a patty) would fare much better with a round bun instead of the sliced rectangle dense foccacia. It made it too difficult to hold the sandwich in your hands ($14). The fried artichoke hearts were YUM and reminded me of my Italian grandmother. The food is 5 stars. The portions were fine (foccacia before the meal helps)---yes, the sausage meal was too small but the pork chop dish was gorgeous. DRINKS: as mentioned, we ordered one glass of a Siena red and it was just perfect with our meals and the pour was generous ($11). SERVICE: our waiter was pleasant and efficient, checking in when needed and keeping our water glasses cool and full. The owner, Francesco, also came out and talked with every table. Because I was wandering about the premises, he took me on a little tour, explaining which furniture and finishings were custom made, a sweet tale about the painting by his father which graces a wall in one room and what his vision has been for the restaurant. AMBIENCE: the previous dark Mosaic has been turned into a light, airy, casually elegant restaurant. The tables and chairs are wide, providing guests with a graceful eating experience. Walls and windows have been replaced with large glass doors leading out to the back patio. It's very open and Tuscan and feels lovely. The dinnerware and silverware are beautiful. PRICE: our luncheon ended up being what a nice dinner would cost...but we did have a side dish and vino and the most expensive meal on the menu. Yet no doubt, Canneti is expensive and a high-end establishment......and for us, it will be an occasional special luncheon place. Forestville has three destination restaurants...all different and excellent...pretty great for this little town!

Lovely dinner at Canetti. The roast pork with cannellini beans was delicious. The back patio at sunset was romantic and Francesco, the owner and chef is such a sweet man - an obvious labor of love. Wonderful! Yum!

WoW! This is an AMAZING restaurant! The staff was very friendly, had lots of suggestions, personal knowledge of every plate they serve, and so attentive and polite! One of the chefs came out to introduce themselves, and they brought out free appetizers! We had the duck ravioli with a duck reduction sauce, it was to die for! The beet salad was very fresh and had a delicious, yet light dressing. The olive oil they serve with their fresh, warm, buttery crusted bread is from one of the server's house! The decor is all local, and you wouldn't know it by standing outside the restaurant, but their back patio is very whimsical and romantic with a huge wisteria blooming overhead. Everyone was so pleased with their meals and the friendly service, we will most certainly be back to try all their other delicious offerings! The Price range for dinner entrees was about $16-$26, and well worth every penny :) Oh, and the indoor ambiance is also excellent, with a peep-show kitchen bar, so you can see the chefs happy at work. PS - The waitress offered substitutions for parts of a dish we didn't like, I dont know why other people say differently, but the service here is perfectly fine. As for the "small" portions.. you shouldn't be eating until you pop! My husband and I shared a salad and shared an entree, and were perfectly satiated enough to be able to enjoy their free shortbread cookie dessert!

Last night was New Years Eve. Being new to the area, we had driven by the restaurant several times and every time it was empty. I STILL was in the mood for Italian, so I figured that if there were some cars in front of it last night, we would stop in for some Italian food. I was truly in the mood. We walked in and were informed that they had no tables as all were reserved. Ok, it was New Years after all. BUT, there was only one table occupied that ALL of the rest were empty. The hostess was quite snotty and we promptly left. Their loss as we ended up having a great meal down in Sebastopol instead. On the way back to Guerneville, we of course passed the restaurant again and guess what....gobs of tables were still open. Apparently we did not meet their personality profile. NEXT!

We had reservations at 7 PM for 6 people. We had our pick when we arrived on where to sit. Chose a outside table in the shade.Great patio setting and the night was lovely...We brought some wine and also ordered a glass. We ordered several small plates, one three course meal ,soup, salads and the pasta for two...The chef gave us a delicious arugula said that we all tried and liked...The server was very knowledgeable on the plates with some history thrown in.. It took 2 hours to get our main course and three hours to get the bill. It was not busy when we came and people left before us when they arrived after us. Not sure why the service was so slow...Not sure if any of us would go back...

The Roadhouse was a complete and total disappointment. There are much better places in the West County/Forrestville-Graton area. I can only think that the positive reviews were written by shills. The previous reviews do not reflect the negative experience we had. To start, although the wine list is impressive, we were very disappointed with the amount of wine poured. It was quite chintzy for the $11 a glass price. Upon ordering, we were informed that the beluga terrine on greens was not available, and there was no other "green salad" on the menu. We had to convince the waiter to see if we could have a green salad instead, as it was taken off the menu. Nevertheless, one was provided us, and then we were told--even thought we ordered one salad to split-- that at the end our meal a "favor" was provided by only charging us for one salad....quite a favor for a plate of spring mix. Also, there was no fresh ground pepper to put on our salad. The bread portion provided were four very small pieces, and we had to ask for a second serving while we were waiting for our food. Once the salads came, the waiter did not ask if we wanted any more bread, even though the bread plate was empty. He actually left the empty plate on our table while we ate our salads. The biggest disappointment was waiting 45 minutes for our meagerly portioned pasta entrees. It should be noted that the restaurant was half full, and there must have been five people working in the kitchen. My wife's duck ravioli was almost too salty to eat, and my squid ink pasta was a quite small portion. Disappointingly, there were hardly any clams or mussels with it. $70 later, we've learned our lesson. Unfulfilled, I went home and had a almond butter sandwich. Don't bother with the Roadhouse!!

When I stepped into Canneti I was transported into memories of Italian farm land with a twist of Sonoma-Americana. The food and atmosphere were Mediterranean in warmth and delight. Each course was a leg to a journey that ended with sweet memories. This is definitely a place for foodies and fine diners--the folks who enjoy and understand the value of an epicurean experience. Canneti is definitely not for those looking for a single-course meal. I am happy to say that the courses were well timed, giving chance for conversation and laughs for our reunion of friends. The wine pairing was excellent--local and Italian. We were not rushed to make decisions, nor felt uncomfortable or undesired for having a little time to chat after desert. Staff was very friendly. I am glad to have gone on a special occasion. Our reunion could not have happened at a better place. For what we received, we would have paid $$$$ (even though we expected to pay $$$ from the Yelp listing). To top off our night the chef indulged us with brief conversation about his history and his vision for Canneti. I look forward to seeing it come true for him. I can only imagine that some of the other reviews regarding service were one-offs or hiccups that sometimes occur with new restaurants. And for those who complain of small portions, I'd recommend learning about appropriate portion sizes and the difference between quality and quantity--it would be like comparing Red Lobster to Fisherman's Warf. And, Canneti is definitely well ahead of both in every aspect. Canneti is a new, "must see and partake" when I travel through Sonoma area. Thank you, Canneti! (Or should I say, "Grazie!").

Charming Tuscan restaurant worth a trip from San Francisco. My husband and I have eaten at Canetti three times and have enjoyed every visit. The food is Tuscan which means it is rich and flavorful without lots of red sauce and garlic. 'When we were seated the chef served an amuse bouche (different on each visit) which set the tone for the rest of the meal. We shared the roasted rooster stuffed with house made sausage and finished every last bite. On another visit we had the "tuna chianti" which, as the menu explains isn't tuna but a slow braised pork with canellini beans. We licked the spoons. The maccheroni with a Tuscan meat sauce was rich and delicious. True to Tuscan style, my husband's steak was cooked rare and my braided sole was perfection. Stefano, the chef didn't miss a beat sending us home with shortbread cookies to indulge and remind us how much we enjoyed the evening. The decor is charming and we felt like we were back in Tuscany which is where Stefano was the chef for several years at a world renowned cooking school.

Ate here with my wife and two children, ages 7 and 12. The food was amazing, and incredibly authentic. The portions are not huge, but considering the quality of ingredients and impeccable execution they are more than adequate. Pastas were on point. If you're expecting american-italian or california-italian you should go somewhere else... This is Tuscan food at its best. The pace is as such- not rushed, but fine for us (kids included). This place is truly a gem, and some locals may not get it, but there are other options out there. Thanks Francesco for a memorable meal, we will be back!

The food here is amazing. Real Northern Italian food. An appetizer of Pomodoro Bread Soup (very thick, eaten with a fork), Great very thin crust pizza, Pork Sausage on homemade focaccia, Cannoli for dessert - what could be better. Great ambiance, and love the hospitality of the owner. It's a must go!!

Canneti was a total surprise in the tiny little town of Forestville. The food was off the charts and we loved the way they made everything in house. The Chef must put in enormous hours in preparation. The staff was friendly, loved the style of the place. Highly recommend!

We have eaten at Canneti's 4 times now and everytime is better than the last! I have a hard time not always ordering the pasta with Tuscan meat sauce because it is to die for. We had dinner here a few days ago and it was GREAT. We are seniors so our appetites are not large. We had two items from the appetizer section of the menu and they were both great (Pasta Trio and the "Tuna of the Chianti"). Excellent flavors and more than adequate quantity for us. Our waitress D'Ann was very knowledgeable and helpful. There were many items on the menu that we will try in the future. Stop by the Wine Guerrilla next door for a Zinfandel tasting before dinner, they have some nice Zins.

I was nervous about trying Canneti because I have heard such mixed reviews, but since it is less than a mile from our weekend house we felt we should give it a try. WOW!! We had an amazing meal! The food was fantastic! Our server was awesome. I can now understand why people would not understand Canneti. If you are in the mood for Spaghetti and meatballs, this is NOT the Italian restaurant for you. If you are in the mood for dazzling food creation with a Tuscan inspiration...prepared to truly enjoy your meal! We started with the "small bite", a true $3/$4 amuse bouche. It was a perfect start. Then had lentil terrine. A hair heavy on the salt, but YUM! For entrees Seafood Lasagna (forget what you think you know about a lasagna) and Duck Ravioli. Everything was delicious! We will go back for sure!

I think this is the best Sonoma County restaurant west of the 101. I have been now about six or eight times, and every single time the food is incredible. My favorite is the eggplant sugo; it's truly divine. Great service every time. Fab wine list. Best kept secret in Sonoma County.

My husband and I came to Canneti for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we were blown away. The service was fantastic, thanks to our server Natasha - she was friendly and attentive, but let us take our time with each course. The food was amazing: the pappa al pomodoro was so rich and flavorful, gnocchi with mint pesto were the perfect texture and the mint brought a lightness to the dish, and the maccheroni with pork ragu was comforting and savory. White chocolate filled cannoli were the perfect end to the meal! I'm already ready to go back!

Stopped by for lunch on Friday...observations: Decor is Spartan, but we were not there for the decor...service was slow since only one person for all tables...but service was friendly...food was excellent...we had the chicken and the pasta with meat sauce...meat sauce was shredded pork...chief delivered the entrees and pointed out that all ingredients were local...only negative was the wine list...OVER PRICED!...a moderately priced wine list would merit the fifth star!

Absolutely loved it here! From the atmosphere, service, food, everything was perfect. I've lived in Italy and it took me back to that beautiful place! We also had a group of 13, our server Kirsten handled everything with such grace. At the end Francesco personally came to our table to ensure we enjoyed our visit. Definitely going back and will refer many!

OK, yeah, it's expensive for Forestville. You should bite that bullet because it's not expensive for just plain good food. After a plate of warm-from-the-oven foccacia we started with the house pulled mozzarella over tomato coulis and the pork/tondini beans/olive oil and herbs. The mozz app was like butter bathed in essence of tomato. Unbelieveably good. And to the Press-Democrat reviewer who characterized the "Tuna of the Chianti" as "pork and beans" -- dude, what were you thinking? It was so so so good. I would like to bury my face forever in those beans. Then main courses of the fritto misto and the porchetta with figs. The fritto misto was light and crunchy without a hint of grease and a perfect mix of calamari, shrimp and vegetables. The porchetta was a tiny bit on the dry side but very flavorful and the farro accompaniment -- much like a risotto -- was so good that I will look for a recipe to recreate it at home. Dessert --- ricotta tart with peaches in a caramel-y wine reduction. Delicious. If I have one tiny criticism it would be that I wish the server had suggested that our pork/beans app was very similar to the porchetta/farro main course and perhaps we should have considered something else. The setting is outstanding, inside and out. The plating is beautiful -- visual feast before the taste. I suggest going with a larger group than just two and ordering lots of plates -- even the appetizers are plenty for four people to have a satisfying taste.

What a find! This is a must-dine experience, a true Tuscan eatery with fabulous food at reasonable prices in a most charming setting. Ingredients are locally sourced, and most everything is house made. Every attention to detail can be found: Beautiful, rustic furniture, elegant cutlery, and Italian-made farm-style dinnerware and napkins. A large fireplace warms the room. Wonderful winemaking tools adorn the space. So inviting! The food: In a word, exquisite. My husband and I began with a house-pulled mozzarella on a bed of acorn squash puree and topped with a wonderful marmalade. How unique! Then we shared a chickpea corkscrew pasta with Louisiana shrimp...sublime. My husband's entrée was the fish stew, loaded with plenty of perfectly executed seafood in a rich broth. I had the pork roast over roasted radicchio with black rice.....just incredible flavors. Our server, D'Ann, was most gracious, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the restaurant. So refreshing! The wine list comprises a nice variety of local and Italian wines with broad price points to satisfy all diners' budgets. We enjoyed a lovely Albini 2010 Russian River Merlot, a very tasty complement to our meals. Our best wishes to Francesco Torres, owner and chef of this jewel of a restaurant. Outstanding and imaginative menu. Delicious. They were so gracious and were able to address my wife's gluten allergy by adapting their menu to her needs on the fly! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our meal a wonderful experience (I was thirsty at lunch and asked for a Diet Coke... which they do not serve) as we were waiting for our salads a Diet Coke appears - our waitress had gone next door and bought one so I could have it at my meal. We will definitely be back.

OK...first of all, this place has the potential to be a solid 4.5 stars, but they just aren't there quite yet and here's why... We dined this evening and had made a reservation (based on some other yelp reviews which recommended we do so). The restaurant was never full (on a Saturday night) so I'm not sure how critical it is to book in advance, but it was half-full/half empty from 7pm to 8:30 when we left. The dining areas are very nice and generally well considered. I would say that at one point, they crammed a 4-top into our area (my chair was literally back to back with the chair of another patron until they reconfigured) while the other half of the dining area was quite sparse...so some "spatial" logistics to be figured out, for sure. Anyway, we were seated and got our menus, ordered drinks and had a nice time perusing the menu. When the server came to ask if we had any questions, we simply asked, "What do you recommend? What are the signature dishes?"... to which she replied, "Everything is good". Ahem. That reply really tells me nothing and I detest getting that response because I automatically think that either (1) nothing really stands out, (2) the server has never actually tasted the dishes or (3) the server's pallet is no good and therefore not really qualified to serve/recommend food in a restaurant of this caliber. It was a turn off to get that reply and I regret not asking for some else to wait on us who could better advise on our selections. Anyway, we ordered our meal and the food was in the range of "ok"-to-"very good". I will warn you that their small bites (listed at the top of the menu) are truly amuse bouche-sized and they should REALLY increase the size of the serving (along with the price) or eliminate the category...these are not big enough to share. I will also say that the time it took to get our first dish was excessive...the service felt VERY slow and we had finished a full drink before any food arrived. Bread? Olives? Amuse bouche? Something to tide me over while I wait for that first little morsel to deliver (approximately 20 minutes after we placed my orders). The main courses were not that great. and probably the most disappointing selections of the meal. We got one pasta dish (and asked if they could leave out the panchetta since we are not red meat eaters) and it was WAY too sweet. We later recommend to the server that if anyone asked to omit the pancetta in the future, she warn them it would change the flavor of the dish and AT LEAST forewarn them of its sweetness (and Inherent flavor imbalance). The other dish we got was a cod which was mushy. Yup. Mushy fish. My partner was embarrassed that I complained, but it was literally like eating pudding, not fish which is traditionally firm and holds its shape. To be fair, they did not end up charging us for this item, but it was quite unappetizing and was clearly not prepared properly. The side dishes, were quite good. We tried the artichokes (though they were a bit tough and could have been trimmed up better...(was the most flavorful dish we had that night) and also the escarole was truly the best tasting dish of the evening...simple and yummy. Normally dessert isn't a high point for us, but we tried the cannoli (which I enjoyed, though my partner did not as it strayed too far from traditional cannoli) and the goat cheese dessert which we both enjoyed. Like I said, this place could really be elevated at every stage and could evolve into a very exciting place to dine. It's a diamond in the rough and hopefully will tackle all these growing pains. The servers, although pleasant, need to know that menu inside and out....that part of the dining experience came off as disappointingly amateurish. The kitchen is physically small, so that may be a part of why service lagged....there seemed to be 4 people cooking (which felt like plenty) but it took forever to get the meal started and it remained ill-paced throughout. We will give it a few months to (hopefully) iron out and we WILL definitely try it again. It does have potential, but some of the errors and short-comings are "low hanging fruit" and I hope they hear this feedback (as well at the feedback of others). I REALLY want them to succeed and I want to be excited to dine there, but it's a very uneven dining experience right now. .

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
