The refried beans are nice here. They are mild tasting and not salty. I ordered a big wet bean and cheese burrito (durango).

My coworkers and I stopped in for lunch today, we decided on this restaurant for its proximity to work. We have been here previously and had decent service however today it was terrible. It took a while to get seated even though the restaurant was not busy, I had to get up and get menus for our group because we didn't get any once seated and the server didn't come by after the food was served. I do have to say that the pico de gallo and the guacamole here are good. This is a better happy hour location than lunch destination.

When we wanted Mexican for breakfast, this the place to go for us. They have a breakfast menu & lunch. We've only dined here during breakfast so I can't say much for lunch & dinner. We always like sitting at the corner booth. Some how it's positioned well to where we could see the rest of the restaurant. Depending on moods & weather, menudo is available to order majority of the time. Now if you are sensitive to "smell" then be weary when eating this. You can smell the strong scent coming from the tripe. Since I'm not big on rice & beans, I usually go for the a la carte on the menu. Chili Rellenos or Beef Enchilada. Today was a good day. The guy that cooks all the food fried up some fresh chips for us to dip in the amazing fire roasted salsa. The salsa is very good. I enjoy it very much. Not too salty, spicy, or sour. Just right & I love pouring it over my food! Service is usually good although it seems as if there's only 1 cook & 1 server/hostess in the morning. Sometimes it's difficult to get her attention for additional needs. There's plenty of parking & not hard to find.

The chips, salsa and horchata was good but that's about it. I ordered a combo w/ a taco, enchilada and Chile relleno and it wasn't up to par. I felt like I needed a steak knife to be able to cut thru the relleno and enchilada. The taco fell apart even before it got to the table and the ends were burnt.

I've passed by the restaurant called Parilla Mexicana on Valley Blvd for years but never eaten there. Last night my wife and I decided to go to have dinner at the La Parilla Mexicana on Valley Blvd in Alhambra. This would be are first time and the environment was clean and inviting. We were seated right away and the waiter brought complimentary chips and salsa to our table. The tortilla chips were crunchy and good, the salsa was amazing. It was smokey with a hint of lime that I couldn't stop eating the salsa. We were looking at the menu , my wife caught the carne asada qusedilla that she really liked and order it. I order the puercos con chili verde one of my favorites. I have eaten Puercos con chili verde from other restaurants I hope this meal surpass from other meals I've had before. In a short time the waitress brought us our meal, which looks very good. My puerco con chili verde looks great and the aroma of pork was so good. First taste was the refrie beans, the beans were good and the cheese on top add a great flavor. The rice was really good it a good flavor combine the rice with bean amazing flavors. My puerco con chili verde was so amazing. The pork was very tender I use my fork to pull the pork apart so easily. I use the flour tortilla dipping in the chili verde and grabbing the pork with the flour tortilla it was so delicious. Overall we enjoy the food at the La Parilla Mexicana, we would go back again

Although the service was fast and the place was clean, a lot has to be said about the ethics of this place. First the server and manager (I think) brought us 3 knives to eat with and no forks (there were only 2 of us). We had to ask for forks. The server then brought my boyfriend a wet napkin and when he asked for a dry one, the server said "It's only water." The real kicker though was when another customer came in and ordered food to go, she was told that the a la carte price was the same as the combination price...BY THE MANAGER!!! We looked at the menu after and they totally screwed her over. So uncool. To top it off, the food was not great. My boyfriend said they used to be way better.

La parilla did me right !! Um here's the good things,, food that i ordered was tasty .. Chuleta adobo with rice n beans good pork chops not overcooked ,, mild spice flavor also nice and juicy... The not so goods !! But slso not deal breakers ,,$2.50 for horchata with no refills kinda standard issue i guess but they put a lot of ice in the cup .. So sip slowly my friends,, ordered queso fondido and well was just meh !! Cheese hardened fast and not enough chorizo .. But the chips n salsa were on point so i guess u cant have it all.. Good lil spot come check it out for yourself .. Peace

Food was good.. I had the old stand by, taco & enchilada. Very good, but the rice was the best on my plate it was excellent. The couple running the place had there young kids helping out. The kids made are dat, watching them interact with their parents. Working the register & pouring water. Ill come back, soon and often.

Always wanted to try this place and finally did. Prices decent for the amount of food served. 3 adults walked out with a $26 tab; Chile Verde burrito with rice & beans inside, Enchilada & Taco with rice & beans, & Nachos with carne Asada. Taste more on the on the American palate, on the mild side. I will return to taste their seafood.

Very pleasant decor, very clean and tidy, great parking lot, good food, reasonable prices. The only problem is the service. I seem to get the same waitress every time, she always forgets the silverware! Every single time. I have to get it myself. I've complained about her lack of attention to her duties, but the cashier seems to have no interest at all. Not even so much as a comment. I'm not a rude person, I don't want to tell this waitress that she should find another line of work, so I always leave her a tip even though she didn't earn it. I don't want to cause trouble, I just want my silverware.

My wife wanted a Mojarra Frita. Found this place close to us. Nice little Place. Clean and well Decorated. The Fish was OK. Tilapia, I thought it was Fishy and Stinky but my wife liked it. I guess that's why I don't usually do Mojarra. I ordered the Durango Wet Burrito. Good Size but the taste was off. I think the Asada was Old or Off tasting. I couldn't put my finger on it but there was definitely something Bad. Salsa served with the chips should have given me a clue. Very Mediocre. I wish more Chefs would sample what they make to see that it Impresses. I don't think we will be going back.

I visited this place this past weekend and although it doesn't look like much from the outside it was delicious! The decor inside is very nice, and they give you complimentary chips and a delicious red salsa . I ordered agua de tamarindo and it exceeded my expectations. We also had an order of queso fundido that comes with freshly made tortillas which was also really good. I orders chilaquiles rojos and they were served with beans, rice, and potatoes with salsa. Everything was freshly made and was really good! The service was great and they were all genuinely nice and gave us everything we needed. Overall it was a great place and I would definitely be coming back and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Mexican food.

The food is for gringos. Come on, melted cheese over the beans? Tell tell sign. The flavor was good but overall overpriced in my opinion. Great parking. Too bright. Decor meh. Service also meh. Many other better options around. Sorry.

Searched all day long to find a Mexican restaurant that sold pozole on a weekday, and finally came across this little restaurant in the corner. Very happy with the soup, but only have pork pozole, which I do not enjoy, but they happily left the pork out for me. So this place is great to great your pozole cravings out any day of the week!

Well I came here because this was the closest Mexican restaurant near my work, read some reviews and figured why don't I go try it, baaad decision. Me and my brother ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon potato and egg I got a burrito that is medium sized stuff with rice and little to no egg or bacon, and no potato to be found. And the shrimp burrito my brother ordered was filled with beans and rice and little to no shrimp. The burritos were 7.50 each and not worth it at ALL. I can get one for 5.50 and it'll be way better and bigger in size. I do not recommend anyone to this place. Do yourself a favor and save your money.

  • Ryan B.

I had high hopes, they were dashed. There are good reviews here for their burritos and such, and they are probably correct. I came here because I had seen the "Seafood" sign and was hoping for some good seafood, Mexico style. This did not happen. At all. They have a variety of specials for 2 people. We ordered the Mazatlan one, which is a baked fish, a fried fish fillet, shrimp and crab. The baked fish was a grouper. I'm sure it was frozen. It was dry, chewy and had no flavor. The fried shrimp had no flavor. The fried fish was OK. The crab was imitation crab meat warmed up in a bowl. In short, it was basically dry, flavorless fried fish and fake crab. No limes or lemons, no salsas, no sauces, just a plate of fish and yucca. We asked for limes, and they brought them. As I said, other stuff may be good. But avoid the seafood. They have oysters on the half-shell, but after the poor quality of the fish plate I was not going to order them.

I live pretty close to this place so I usually come here simply out of convenience. The food is pretty average Mexican fare but I can't say that I've ever actually craved anything on the menu. Sunday's sometimes get a bit busy but the rest if the week is generally pretty slow. I don't think I've ever waited to be seated. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes it seems like they totally forget you're still there. There's a waiter there that my friend and I refer to as the Dog Whisperer... He looks just like Caesar Milan. The guy has major attitude at times. I was there just recently and ordered the taco combo with two tacos. He took my order. One of the waitresses brought my plate but I noticed that there was only one taco on the plate. I looked at the plate and she caught on right away. She said, "You wanted two tacos, huh?" I said, "Well yeah, that's what I ordered." So she says okay and heads back to the kitchen and really loud I hear her say, "He wanted TWO tacos!!" I looked at my friend like, "What the heck??!?" It was hilarious. But the Dog Whisperer didn't think so. You could feel the negative energy emanating from him. When he brought us our check, he literally just tossed the tray onto our table without saying one word. There are too many restaurants in the area for me to continue going to this place. Fun fact: Phil Specter used to live in the giant mansion on the hill just south of the restaurant.

Ive passed by it almost everyday for the past three years and finally decided to to give it a try. The chicken and shrimp fajitas were delicious. The waitress was very helpful as we were asking her about the different plates. I will def come here again!

Small place located right off the valley st exit off the 710 exit...good atmosphere but we did come in the morning ...not sure how this place gets during the afternoon and nights..decent sized parking lot..credit cards accepted. Booths are very comfortable and place is clean...place has a "A" rating...ice cold horchatas ...staff is courteous and professional...always wondered about this place when I drive by after my bjj after class right down the street...enjoy people...

Fun place for more upscale Mexican food. The Arrachera Campesina is a skirt steak served with special spicy beans, guacamole and onions. Pretty good. The handmade tortillas are fantastic. The shrimp burrito is amazing. However, the service is just awful. Be prepared to be ignored and not give you what you ask for. I asked for water four times and still never got it. The waitress is surly and not friendly at all.

  • Andrew A.

Another great Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. The seafood dishes here are great. Everything has flavor and is always cooked good and served hot. On a busy day it takes a while to get your food but it is worth the wait. Service is always very good.

  • Megan E.

I was disappointed that they don't use authentic mexican cheese ("queso fresco, cotija, etc") on their sopes. Especially after checking the pictures on yelp, and seeing that they did use mexican cheese. Idk if they don't serve it anymore, or ran out, but they just gave me regular graded cheese. Food was okay. Ordered Sopes & a Burrito (carne asada).

Pretty decent spot. I've been interning at the court house up the street and today the judge took me here for lunch. Incredibly crowded at lunch hour, but the service was good and our food was out pretty quickly. Solid food. Decent service. Good if you want to get away from the court house and get some enchiladas.

Food is good and nice portions they have a little of everything. Only thing called in a order on Sunday expecting it to be ready no such thing had to wait like if I walked in and ordered so they get busy on the weekends I feel it's worth it but they shouldn't have said it would be ready in 15 minutes. And they forgot some of my order

  • Alejandro M L.

I really like this place. Their carne asada plate is just juicy and delicious! this is also one of the very few places that makes actual mexican hot chocolate from scratch!!! yes Ibarra/Abuelita style! try their shredded beef tacos .. amazing!!

  • Norman B.

The Mexican fare of food tastes great. I did try the gringo side of the food and unfortunately it did not meet any form of expectation. I had French fries that tasted like they were stored in the fridge for a few years. But who goes to a Mexican restaurant for French fries. Personal advice, stick to the Mexican style food on the menu.

They have live a Trio playing on this Sunday when we stopped by for lunch the food was hot and good i got the Chilli rellenos and the wife had the chicken taco and chesse enchilada combo. Overall great tasting food at a reasonable price.

This place has the best carnitas I have ever tried, everything taste so authentic and fresh. It's a place to just get a quick bite to eat nothing fancy but the quality of the food is amazing. I come here every time I'm craving Mexican food!! Also the service is very fast and friendly! Definitely recommended if your in the area.

GREAT FOOD ! small place but very clean and friendly. The chimichanga is my favorite. Prices are very reasonable. My husband and I go here often and are never disappointed.

Drove by this place for years now and never went inside. Got coupons for 2 for 1 dinner in Penny Saver but never went in. Finally I decide to go in on a Saturday. The place was empty ....should have left!! I ordered the Carne Asada Tampiquena plate. (Carne asada w/ 1 cheese enchilada, rice & beans) YUKKKK!!!!! Beers are almost $5.00 each and chips and salsa sucked!!! The next time I want to eat crap like that I'll go to Taco Bell!!!!

Great food here, and As every time I've been here great service from everyone. Would recommend the Durango burrito. They actually have authentic Mexican food not like those fake places like Chipotle etc.....

  • Sal M.

Great guacamole. Had their green chili burrito and it was huge for $7.50 and loaded with rice, beans & meat. Was thinking it was going to be much spicier but wasn't, which was fine since they have a killer salsa that is offered with crispy tortilla chips. Heard they have a Trio (live music) on Sundays & Menudo all week long instead of weekends only.

    (4)
  • Ryan K.

You what gets me about every place is not the food, it's the service! And what a nice waiter man, such a good community. This place also has a trio group playing music on Sundays! (I'm here on a Sunday) the sun is shining and I love my girlfriend. This weather reminds me of her because she's a badass and warm just like the sun. I can't wait to take her to this nice place to eat food:) peace and love and take care.

  • Katrina V.

The service is great and the food is amazing. I'm not usually a big fan of Mexican, chipotle is as Mexican as I'll get and this was a first time for me. My coworkers and I now go here regularly and I love it. It's crazy during lunch hour but our order was taken and the food was out pretty quickly. The waiters are nice and the overall ambiance of the place and welcoming and has an authentic feel to it. The location is a bit unnoticeable but I never have a problem with parking because I walk the distance from my office to the restaurant. Great place to meet with friends and have some drinks.

Been coming here for 5 months now the Durango wet burrito is the best in town great service great food and they have beer what more can you ask for.

If your ordering for pick up, check your order before you leave. They tend to forget to put tortillas or salsa in the bag. Just word of advice!

    (3)
  • J. V.

OK Mex, nothing spectacular, although it's fresh and the service is friendly and attentive. The chile rellenos are good and the golden tacos are OK too. Decent rice & beans. What really sucks here is the salsa they serve with the chips: not much taste, not much bite, totally meh. Fail. They should really switch to something else. They also have wine by the carafe & half-carafe, which is a plus and the prices are very reasonable.

I came here yesterday for some menudo...and it was bland...very bland...no flavor. The waitress recommended I try the carrot and orange juice...so I did and it was very bad. They replaced it with just OJ...which was still bad but when the server brought it to me she had this look on her face and said "They told me that if you don't like this one they won't exchange it"....yea no shit! You dont want your shit getting sent back then make it right the first time! And the OJ was very bad too...bland and no sugar. The chips were warm and salty...but the salsa was an ugly maroon color...not thats how its suppose to be. The check never arrived...I felt like walking out to see if they even noticed that I was there anymore. No drink refills...they were out of the dessert I wanted....not much of a reason to go back...ever. Anyways, I ended up going up to the counter to ask for my bill...and the woman working asked how much tip I wanted to leave...nice try...but the I had shitty service...shitty food....no one came back to check on us...no one dropped off the bill....no one cleared the plates off the table...place was empty with tons of workers walking around with nothing to do...yea no thnaks! $18.76 for a breakfast burrito, menudo and a lousy nasty ass juice...no thanks! The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because my boyfriend said his breakfast burrito was bomb.

We've been coming here for years and I think the food is above average. We tried to go tonight to use my Restaurant.Com certificate and they had a sign on the door saying they don't take it anymore. I told them I paid for it already and they should honor the certificate. I was told, "No". Fuck 'em! That was a stupid response because they just lost a customer that went there several times a year. If they want to stop selling the certificates, they have a right to do that but they should honor all the ones that have been sold. By they way, when they told me I couldn't use my certificate we just walked out and went to Chonito's down the street. That'll be our regular Mexican restaurant in our area from now on.

Gets really busy during lunchtime. It's a small place but you definitely get the "home" feeling and it seems to be family owned. Been here for lunch and dinner on several occasions so this review will sum up all my visits. Servers were usually quite attentive after seating us but once you have ordered or received your order-- they're gone! I've learned to order a water when ordering my meal. The food have always been excellent. Food usually comes out within 10 minutes. I would recommend their burritos and enchiladas.

Stopped by the other day, the waiter was very helpful and very nice! She suggested we have a wet burrito. We decided to take her advice & she noticed I had a cold. Before you know it, she brought me a soup (no extra charge) and told me it would help me feel better. Even though it was a little salty, that was generous of her. The burrito was delicious! I will return and enjoy another one. Thanks for the excellent customer service!

I mostly come here in a take out capacity. But for the most part the when I have sat down here to eat I've had a pleasant experience.I am a big fan of their soups also I really enjoy the burritos here as well. The have good seafood. And AMAZING SALSA!!! They don't charge extra for substitutions which I admire. I recommend. And why should you heed my words. I'm the Duke baby!

5 Stars hands down No joke This place is one of my favorite mexican joints when I used to live near el sereno you sit down and like the first thing they give is like a bowl of tortilla chips but damn the salsa that comes out is so addicting I swear. They got like red green and white colored chips and I just keep munching and munching till my plate arrives. I highly recommend ordering the chicken tako combo tht shizzz owns the tako is crunchy and the chicken is juicy and adding guacamole and sour cream to it is like heaven for all tako majors the shrimp burrito and chimy changa is like the ultimate burrito here Its huge and delicious sometimes though they got the mariachi bands playing and damn they got some swag I swear I gotta come back here when I got time. damn reminsicing on good mexican food word up

Love me some Pozole and La Parilla serves it up daily..yes daily... Very nice small little restaurant on Valley in Alhambra..a few parking spots on the street, but mostly street parking, however, parking is never a problem. Full menu of any kind of Mexican food you like..I have tried several plates but the Pozole keeps bringing me back, their Menudo on the weekends is nice also. Sundays they have a trio playing and this only adds to ambience and great food. They do serve beer so theres that also.. Everyone is friendly service is great..food does take a minute to come out but its worth the wait..

Loved this place. I've passed by it so many times, I can't believe I never went in sooner. Went in with a gift certificate from restaurants.com so I had no problem ordering more expensive items like the shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon (the kosher trifecta!). We also had a bowl of albondigas that was so big we had to share it. Also tried the green chili burrito, which was delicious and plenty of sour cream and guacamole on top of it. ALso had to try the cheese enchilada, which was indeed very cheesy. Sorry Chinese guy (Robert L), but cheese enchiladas are supposed to be CHEESY! The service was friendly enough, although I got the impression our waitress didn't speak English very well. It didn't matter because our food was hot, delivered in a timely manner and with the coupon VERY reasonable! Will definitely go back again soon.

I have to say that I love the food here. I always have the mojarra frita and it never disappoints. My mom always has a carnitas burrito. We have been here once on the weekend, but mostly frequent during the week. The only beef I have with them is the service. My mom told me that the server was one of the owners. I'd hope that the service would be better than last time. Its not that they are rude, just very inattentive. They are all friendly, but they seem to forget about refills, boxes and clearing our table after. Also, they always forget about the check. hmmm. I will come back for the food, but every customer is important.

Diego Rivera prints everywhere. Vinyl diner-style booths. Worn laminated menus. Tired-looking waitresses. Average prices. Good chips with mediocre salsa. Watery sodas. Awesome hard taco. Decent rellenos. Lukewarm enchiladas. Old-school cash registers. Ambivalent service. Good parking. Great location. That is all.

Finals are today for csula. It was either this mexican place or KFC.. so it was worth a shot. I sat, and the waitress was very kind and brought me some soup and chips. Soup was like a soupita mexican style. Very good since I'm sick. The salsa was good, not too spicy. She spoke to me in spanish, so I used my skills to blow her away.lol I asked her what she recomended and I ended up getting the steak picado. Maybe ten minutes I waited for my food. She brought me a huge plate of FOOD, steat, wet and juicy, beans so cheesy and hot, rice all tasty and orange and I asked for some guac.. man the guac was the best. It was very hot and though I want to love this place the steak was good, not OMG DELISH. I need it to hit me so hard I go back to when I was a child on the porch getting tickled by my grandma delish. It wasn't quite that. But maybe I got the wrong plate. There's a buttload of stuff to try! Prices are good as well. Come for lunch and say "especial! Porfa!"

Another little Mexican gem. It is tucked away on Valley Blvd with all sorts of Chinese restaurants. But if you don't want Asian food and want some authentic Mexican this place is a must to stop by. Cheap and reliable and authentic. Can't get any better than this.

I took my family there today because I had bought a gift certificate from restaurant.com . We were able to get a seat right away and got our chips and salsa right away. The waitress was fairly friendly at first but it took her about 15 minutes to come back and get our order. There were exactly 2 waiters serving the entire restaurant on a Friday night. As me and my husband ordered, I had requested for an extra plate for my little ones to share. Our meal came with tortillas and apparently tortillas meant 2 tortillas. We were given exactly 4 tortillas for us to share. I had to go up to the counter an approach the waitress for the extra plate I requested and requested for additional tortillas. The waitress came back with 2 more tortillas. As for the food, the soup that came with our meal was slightly salty but edible. The chicken mole and the fish and shrimp tortillas were not the greatest but decent. As we were getting ready to pay, my husband approached the counter and asked the waitress to bring us our bill. The waitress never came back with our bill and I had to approach her back at the counter so that we could pay for our bill.

I have a business just up the street and this is a go to for lunch. I love the salsa and chips along with the service. Nice friendly and great prices. My husband likes the ceviche and says its the best in town. My only wish is that they had a full bar as I love me a margarita! Oh well the food keeps us coming back for more!

This was the first for me and my parthner that we stop to eat at La Parrilada Mexicana, since I'm very particular about mexican food. The ffood was excellent I order the Fish Parrilada was delicious and the soup at the was like Mom's. My Parthner order Shrimp sald was excellent and the chips and salsa very good .I would recommend the place to my friends. I believe in order to review a restaurant to need to order a strong plate and Had being race in the Mexican culture everything was excellent. I totally disagree with the review of the other people.

    (5)
  • Angela H.

Aw, I'm sad to see poor reviews for this place. It's not the nicest restaurant, but the burritos I got was good, and a good price. The parking lot was very dumpy, but it was clean inside, and filled up with customers for lunch.

  • Nicole C.

Cute & quaint....very slow for a Monday night! Has their own parking and some street parking available. Looks like a little "whole-in-the-wall" but the taste was all right. Had a combination with a Chile Relleno, Cheese Enchalada, and a Beef Taco. The place has good flavor and not an overwhelming amount of food.....just the right serving. I would definately like to try other items next time!

Very quick, inexpensive, reliable fare. My personal fave is the flat tostada. It's giant, with lots of lettuce, cheese, tomato and guacamole. The enchiladas aren't bad, the flan's okay, the burritos so-so, and the egg dishes really bland, so I avoid the breakfast menu. I've heard the tacos are good, though I haven't tried them personally. They don't have a full bar, but the beer's cold, the salsa hot, and parking's easy. They can handle large groups, and they'll do takeout. Extra bonus: On a couple of occasions, I've heard the cook break into song in the kitchen, most recently to sing along to the Spanish version of You're the One that I Want from Grease. Awesome.

I've been coming here for years. Before it was my parents who brought us and now we all bring our own children here. The servers have seen my family grow and we enjoy our time here. The food is good and authentic. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!!

My partner and I went here today on our way back to S.F. from Long Beach This is a very cute and clean restaurant and we both thought the food was excellent. I had a cheese enchilada and chile relleno and she had chilequiles. Both dishes were delicious and the salsa and chips were great, too. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and we were lucky enough to be there when they had a mariachi trio performing. Evidently, every Sunday this group performs. They had beautiful singing voices and it really added to the ambiance of the restaurant. We thought the prices were reasonable and parking was very easy. They have plenty of street parking, along with a parking lot on the right hand side of the building. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

If I were Mexican and had a grandma, I would say "this taste like abuelas cooking". But I'm Chinese, and don't have a grandma, so it would be weird for me to say that.... ;-) The salsa is delicious. The wet burrito, tacos, chile rellenos, all good. Not a huge fan of the enchiladas, too cheesy. I love soup and order a cocido or abondigas when I want something light. I'm a fan of La Parilla. I work close by and try to drop by once a week. So I hope to see you there.

My colleague and I strolled on in yesterday. It was OK. I wouldn't say that this is the best place to get Mexican food but its ok! Although I will say their salsa was yummy. Other than that, I wouldn't go back just because of that. I had their torta and wasn't completely impressed. My colleague said her carnitas burrito was pretty good. Eh... well. It was OK.

The Jamaica is pretty good, the taquitos alright. The guacamole isn't as great as my mom's, but then again, whose is? Haha altogether, i'd only eat here if i'm in a hurry AND in the neighborhood. on second thought, i'm gonna roll to the panda up the street.

My family and I tried to have dinner here. It was about 8 pm, not one person in the place. The waitresses took their time taking our orders, the glasses smelled of soap. We live in the area and have eaten here many times before not the first time ,but somehow this place has been lacking in good service and quality of food. We ordered and patiently waited for our dinner. Then the workers started to clean the bathrooms and OMG did smell of bleach and pinesol. The place is small so the smell permeated the whole place. Well that was rude! We were the only customers and they couldn't wait until we finished eating? NO COMMON SENSE! We asked for our food to go . The food was just okay, nothing special. I think they just lost us as customers .

Went here on a Saturday for lunch, and it wasn't as crowded as some of the other reviews mentioned that it would be. Not to say that I wanted it to be crowded or anything. This place isn't very big (probably room for about 70 or so?), so it was nice to have only a few tables of people. The wait staff did indeed speak Spanish, but pleasantly knew enough English to get by. The menu did have both Spanish as well as some brief English translations. I enjoyed their fresh salsa and chips that they served as soon as we sat down. For lunch, I got the Albondigos soup based on another review here. It was alright, it had meatballs, but it probably wasn't worth the $6.75. I also go the Carne Asada combination. It was a good amount of food, and it was also pretty good. That was about $11. The person I was with had a Carne Asada quesadilla combination that came with the house soup. It was some kind of a noodle soup that tasted like watered down ravioli sauce. That meal was about $9. All told, it was a pretty nice homey type of place. Unfortunately it wasn't the most amazing Mexican food, and it wasn't cheap enough to be able to use that as an excuse/positive. Not bad, but I think that I also had higher expectations based on other reviews. That's not any fault of the establishment, but I'd still only give them an average grade. Would I go back again? I'd consider it, but I'm not going to make a special point of doing so.

I go here all the time cause it's close by. It's totally decent, and they have 2 for 1 beers during happy hour which is cool. Their salsa is always on point t, I must say. It's a laid back place with friendly service, so pop in some time.

Service was good. Food was good. I had the carne asada with rice and beans. Everything tasted good and I'll go there again. Loved the refried beans and the salsa.

I come here every once in awhile, today was that day. I ordered a cameron Burrito and it was okay, maybe my taste buds were out of whack but it was full of shrimp. Somehow the chips and salsa tasted really bitter. All in all this place was okay. Normally this place is crowded during lunch but not today.

the Chilachiles con Huevo con Chile verde breakfast plate is the bomb and also the Huevo con Chorizo is a great dish. I enjoy coming to this restaurant every other Sunday with my family. the salsa served with a basket of chips is spicy, fresh, and tasty and can also be added with your meal. the coffee is delicious. Friendly service with smiles. Mariachi of three members arrive to serenade the customers. A very family oriented restaurant.

Whoa! What happened to this place. I've been here a couple of times in the past and had positive experiences. In fact, this was the spot I would go to when I wanted a good fish taco combination. I went there this afternoon and was so disappointed that I think they have a new chef...or something. Anyway, the fish tacos we're pretty uninspired. Not so much bad, as disappointing compared to what I remembered. There is simply no way I would have been there more than once before had the tacos been so, well, plain. The place was, as usual, very busy. Whenever I go there, especially at the lunch hour, the place is crowded. The counter lady was, as usual, not too friendly and not unfriendly, but efficient. I don't know. I'm a little at sea on this one, no pun intended. But I will go again and see if maybe I came on a bad day.

Very authentic mexican food and experience. Un related to the L.A. La Parilla restaurants. We had the most adorable waitress, the best service and the place was packed! We tried it on a lark on a Friday afternoon right at lunch time and got the last table. There were families as well as business people having lunch. The menu was in spanish and all the waitresses spoke spanish. Chips with a few green and red ones with a super salsa. I asked if the fish tacos were fried or grilled since I prefer grilled. She said grilled so I ordered the fish tacos with beans and rice. The fish was fried although the tortillas were soft, maybe that's what she meant?!? Anyway, I ate them since they were lightly fried and didn't make a fuss as it's not my style. They were really tasty. Fresh white fish flaky and tender. G ordered the AMAZING Albondigos Soup which was full of HUGE meatballs, he was stoked! It came with a side of rice, condiments and tortillas. The place was decorated really cute and it wasn't too small that you felt cramped. It felt like you were having lunch with a big family in their home, muy especial. We got a cold Corona and enjoyed a terrific experience. Thanks La Parilla, can't wait to go back!

I tried La Parilla Mexicana for lunch many years ago and was appalled at the cream-of-celery soup-type sauce on my green chili enchiladas. And the flies. And the lack of A/C. Fast forward to 2011. A friend was curious, so we tried it. It's obvious that the ownership has changed. The menu is extensive, and every dish I've tried has been way above average. I especially like the seafood (white fish) dishes, and chile relleños, the skewered shrimp dish, and the fajitas. Despite another reviewer's complaint, I've ALWAYS been offered soup; there ALWAYS have been chips and salsa on the table seconds after we're seated; and the service almost always has been quite speedy. Yes, it's a family-owned, neighborhood restaurant and isn't trying to compete with upscale places (like Yxta, in downtown L.A.,, definitely one of my favorites) or La Serenata de Garibaldi, but the quality is there. Always. Quality meat; quality veggies; quality everything. No wonder I'm there at least twice a month for dinner and frequently for lunch, too.

Very good food! It gets crowded on weekends. Waitstaff speak very little english but with my high school spanish class taken during the Nixon administration we always comunicate well enough in spanglish, mumblings, gibberish and bablespeak in not one but two langauges enough to get the burrito ordered. The cheese and refried beans taste a little better than most places. My only complaint is there is no chips and salsa, and on the full meal orders a little cup of soup with the meal would be welcome even if it cost a little more. None the less I still go there once a week or so, big portions and good tasting. Lastly getting the check can take a long time so I am in the habit of just walking up to the register to pay if I need to leave rather than wait.

Ever since Angela Maria's on Primrose changed owners for the umpteenth time (and finally its name as well), this has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Alhambra. The food is great and the portions are big, although yes it can get crowded. I'm pretty sure unlike Shannon my menus have always been in English, although who needs an English menu anyways! ;) Every dish I've tried here has been good, from the burritos to the seafood, definitely recommended. Gotta remember to swing by for their Corona specials sometime as well...

Overall the restaurant was nice, pretty family oriented. The service was great too, the waiter was very nice, and was able to explain what some of the items on the menu were. They were not rude at all, and when i saw the reviews for this restaurant on yelp quite frantically i was afraid to try this place out, but i jumped the gun and checked it out. it is not as bad as the other reviewers put it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
