This is great Mexican food in a town of Mexican food. I have had fantastic shrimp and fish tacos here. Most meat tacos taste the same (still good here) but seafood needs extra love to get the batter right and these guys do it! Today I tried the chille rellano. Once again a perfect batter and a nice change up of red sauce instead of green. Rice is ok but the beans are creamy and have little chunks of cheese on them. If none of that floats your boat try the goat stew or green or red chili. All great stuff. Some things are more of a value than others. $11.99 is a smidge high for rellanos but I think it would be nit picking to give them a lower star rating for this. It's a old looking building but is clean inside. Parking is out front. Service has always been good here. It seems like the same little ladies year in year out.

Disappointing after having a great experience at Mi Rancho down the street. First of all, they were slammed on a Saturday brunch time. Secondly, the impatient waitress kept misunderstanding my order which was simple - two quesadillas and two taco plates. We ended up with two beef tacos each instead of three chicken tacos. No biggie, I like both, but I really wanted the chicken. The chips were not the same as the other location. There were not the thick, crunchy chips fresh out of the hot oil, but standard and bland. The salsa was a pale comparison to the deliciously-seasoned salsa from two days ago at Mi Rancho down the road. I don't think they tasted it at Tacos Mi Rancho at all. The meat was dry and bland, one glob stuck to the bottom of my taco tasted like fish jerky. The beans were not the smooth, creamy, salty beans, but standard bland beans. The rice was not perfect as it had been, but stickier and more tomatoey. It was not served with the delicious crumbly white queso. All in all, everything was standard, bland, and nothing stood out. I wish I would have gone back to the Mi Rancho down the road. Also, this place had one dollar sign, but it should be two. Over $40 for my kids' quesadillas and two taco plates.

This week, my family ate here, and was anything but content. I had to get the attention of a waitress by staring at her, just to get menus. I then had to stare at her again to place my order. I decided on the rancheritos, wife ordered menudo with bread, and son ordered a carnitas burrito. My rancheritos were good in flavor and portion size. It's the grease and oil that was almost spilling over the side of the plate that was disappointing. The grease was literally filled the bottom of the plate, and was ready to spill over the side. The food floating on top was good though. The menudo was the real disappointment. There was a mixture of old meat, with new. It had a peculiar odor that I smelled as I was sitting next to my wife. She tried picking out the darker, older looking meat but it had already changed the flavor (and smell) of the food. When we told the waitress, the picked up the bowl and started spooning the food around, to look for what, I don't know. She offered the explanation that the meat might have been overcooked. I DON'T THINK SO. She then said that she can only offer a discount and not a refund. $1 was discounted on a $8 meal. Really! We're served old smelly food then expected to pay for it. Businesses that have regular clientele and a decent location don't have to offer good service to other customers I guess.

On our drive back to Dallas from San Diego we stumbled upon this small restaurant with great authentic Mexican food. My husband loved his menudo! Fish taco was awesome... Crispy on the outside! Good service.

If you come in after 11pm and order breakfast they charge $2 extra. I guess I am a sucker for bucking the system. I ordered this plate before (during) breakfast hours. Chilaquiles now they came with potatoes (which I prefer). So I might just always order this.

I've been coming here since the late 1990's and it remains my favorite. Roasted chile salsa on the table, al pastor is deeply flavored, carnitas not too fatty. Atmosphere is simple (don't be put off!) but food is homemade, fabuloso.

  • Mike M.

Amazing! Had huevos rnacheros and i wasnt disappointed. I finished my plate and i wanted another one...it was that good. I will be back next time im in the area for sure.

This was not as good as expected. If you are driving thru from Phoenix and heading to San Diego keep going. Food very very salty , order messed up and It was their fault! They put it into a to go box and charged us for their mistake. Tsk tsk, bad business for a $2.00 mistake. Food was ok, but not what all the reviews raved about. Unfortunately when you Yelp anything in Yuma, the results are slim pickings. Best review to stick with is Del Taco.

Just pure awesomeness. Nothing else needs to be said about there food.!!!! !!!!!!!!!! Awesome awesome awesome Good tacos, good burritos, good everything. Even has a good bill afterwards

Enjoyed dinner last night, had shredded beef enchilada dinner, Chile relleno ala carte, Chile verde burrito ala carte. The best Chile relleno we've ever had. As good as any Mexican food in San Diego, really delicious, homemade, craving it since last night, best Mexican food in Yuma hands down.

  • Terra O.

Stopped on our way back to Goodyear from San Diego based on Yelp reviews. Average at best! My mother in law liked the chile verde burrito a lot and the salsa had good spice/heat. That is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2. I agree with one of the previous reviews...the place looked dirty and run down. I love a good hole in the wall/mom & pop type place but this just fell short.

  • blake h.

This place sucks. Waited almost a half an hour for a bean and cheese burrito to go. Super gringo food catering to an older population who likely doesn't want true mexican slice. The food is on the lower quality side and the salsa isn't spicy. It would appear everything is coming from a can. If you're passing through town, this is probably one of your only options, but you'd be better off avoiding.

I stopped by for a late breakfast this past weekend based on a friend's recommendation. I had chilaquiles & my friend had chorizo & eggs. Both were very authentic, homemade style food. I hear their tacos are good too but I personally did try them. It's a very casual atmosphere, prices are good & staff was nice. Good hangover type of spot.

Stopped in for a late lunch - ordered ala carte: one beef tamale with red sauce, one each beef, chicken and potato rolled tacos with lettuce and tomatoes, and a side of beans. The food was excellent! The beans had little pieces of pork which gave it that smoky flavor I like so much. The rolled tacos were very tasty; in order of preference, my favorites were the potatoes, chicken and then the beef. The tamale was delicious! The red sauce was perfect in every way and had bits of the shredded beef in it. The service was fast, pleasant, and my order was correct as I ordered it. I would definitely come here again! The only thing I needed was a bigger stomach - I had to ask for a to-go box... but this way, I'll have something for a snack later!

Used yelp to find this amazing authentic restaurant while traveling through Yuma! Food was excellent & will definitely visit again if back in the area! Give it a try!

Yelp comes thru again! When travelling from Tucson to San Diego, we needed lunch in Yuma. We Yelped up this place and were pleased with the chili Verde - oh so tender and the green sauce was quite flavorful. The al pastor tacos I had were good and the selection of hot sauces on the table was fun (at least 7 different ones). The prices are quite inexpensive as far a price / portion / performance. The facility is small, tight quarters, colorfully dressed servers, brightly painted walls and ceiling, one might think they have crossed the border. Well maybe we did, because ordering in Spanish does help. This place is worthy of another stop, and when I pass thru Yuma again I will. Did you know there are places just south of Yuma where you can look north into Mezxico?

This is probably the best place to eat when you are in Yuma. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area. Very authentic Comida de Mexico.

    (4)
  • Oliver J.

Great place for Mexican food in Yuma. Highly recommend their tacos (especially the fish and lengua (beef tongue)). The chile relleno was also fantastic. The portions for the combos and dinners are very generous and the prices are fantastic. For something sweet after the meal, their horchata! It's delicious.

  • Mark V.

Filibertos would have this place beat if they served margaritas. There's certainly better flavor in Yuma. This is rather bland, but fills the void. Service is very good

  • Arlin B.

This place is fantastic! My only wish is that it would be closer to Phoenix! But then again, maybe this is a good thing it located in Yuma. Too much of a good thing can spoil you and most certainly expand you waist line! The food here is DELISH! This is a must stop by and try, when your visiting or driving through Yuma. You will find many of the locals eat here. They offer daily specials, so please ask about me before you decide. Here are some recommendations; Start off with some shrimp ceviche or if your with some friends split their nachos. Wowsers! Tacos; fish, carne asada, shredded beef, carnitas, all great! Chili relleno is also delish. The staff is really friendly and eager to serve you.

  • Marlin B.

Outstanding!! I had the shrimp taco and the chicharrones taco. Excellent flavor on both! The tortillas were absolutely delicious! Wife had the combo with enchilada, chicken taco and tamale. All were prepared with what tasted like fresh ingredients. And finally--the beans were flavorful and fresh. As previously reviewed, the place is a dive, but has a homey and authentic feel. We will definitely return!!

Stopped by in Yuma to fill up on gas and to have lunch on our way to San Diego. My wife and I shared the Carne Asada Combo plate and it was extremely good! The meat was very flavorful but not overly powerful, it was spicy but not overwhelming. We had concerns about the food due to it coming out within five-ten minutes of us ordering it, which drew my suspicions that it may not have been fresh. Regardless, we ate it and were surprised at how good it was. My son had a cheese quesadilla which was typical, nothing special about it but the wait staff was accommodating to our two kids which was nice. The real drawback on this place is the location. I don't frequent Yuma, but I imagine that this is the rougher part of town and it just wasn't clean inside or out. The bathrooms were filthy and my wife said that the women's bathroom sink was just barely dripping out water even when on full blast. This place needs a renovation, yesterday. Overall, food was good but we will probably find a better location to frequent on any future stops in Yuma.

I can't understand why this place has all these high ratings on Yelp. I had a chichunnos taco, shrimp taco and a burrito that the waitress recommended. All three items tasted terrible. My wife had a chili reyeno burrito and it was OK at best. To make the matter worse, the waitress used her bear hands to get chips for patrons after handling cash. Sure she is friendly and with a great smile but W T F. Do they not even know basic food service 101 protocols? I like authentic Mexican but not the Manazuma's revenge.

  • Juan G.

Great mexifan food. I live in California but i am usually in Yuma October - January for work and always have to eat here atleast a few times. The combination taco plate is my favorite. The beans and the rice are great. The tacos are by far the best in my opinion. The chips are crispy and always hard just to eat one. I usually eat here alone since I come alone maybe if you read this and don't want to let alone. Let me know. Well I am waiting on my food that way I can enjoy my food coma.

  • Paula M.

Horrible service. Specifically asked waitress what was in the green sauce and her reply was just chile verde. The enchilada came covered with pork! When I sent it back, the waitress said, I wondered about that since you asked if the chile rellano had meat? Basically acknowledging that I asked for dishes without meat. She took it back and never said anything about it but later it was included on the bill. She said oh, I can't take it off the bill. They also messed up another persons dish but took it back and brought the correct order. The chicken was way too salty to eat though. So she ended up paying over $10 for an inedible meal.

Excellent authentic Mexican. High quality food and attentive friendly service with a smile. The salsa is fresh and picante. Chile rellenos and enchiladas to die for. Will definitely come back!

Ok, let's get real. Last time seemed better. We stopped here for lunch and the taco plate was recommended. I the tortillas were a bit greasy. The food was average. We may try it again because I remember the first time wad good.

There's a little bit of a mixup in yelp regarding addresses-there's a Mi Rancho at 2701 s 4th....maybe that one would be better? This place looks nothing like the pictures, just P.S. The food is ok-that's it, ok. It's bland if you ask me. Salsa is sub-par and the chips were real thick and not even close to warm. The place is really hot in there, not that clean, and the bathrooms are stupidly small and kinda gross. One of the waiters exited the bathroom wiping his hands (I'm hoping he washed, not just wetted) on his probably dirty apron he's been wiping food on all night....The employees were like little robots the whole time.....huge lack of personality. I'm still on the hunt for great Mexican food in Yuma.

UGGGHHHH!!! I had such high hopes for this place! I am not very familiar with the area, as this is my first visit to Yuma, but I figured any Mexican food should be awesome. I checked Yelp and this came up as the second highest rated restaurant in Yuma. First, was of course, In N Out. Blah. Anways, so I trekked over to Mi Rancho and things were looking good. It looked like a good hole in the wall place. The menu had plenty of choices, so I decided on the three item combo. (BTW no idea how I thought I was going to eat all this food). It came with a sope, soft taco, hard taco, rice and beans. I'm normally go for the rice over the beans, but I just couldnt get enough of the beans. They were by far the best part. The sope, two tacos and rice all lacked flavor. It kind of tasted like cafeteria food. I was really really sad. I gave them three stars because they did do something that every other Mexican restaurant can't seem to figure out. THEY HAD NORMAL NAPKINS!!! Now that I think about it, maybe that would have been a sign of the food. Most Mexican restaurants give you those flimsy, one wipe napkins to use for all of their greasy food. This is a huge issue for me because it makes no sense. Mi Rancho had normal, full size, multiple use napkins, so this may have accounted for their food lacking flavor. Bad napkins = flavorful food. Good napkins = flavorless food. I do also want to note the service, the two girls were really sweet. They were really attentive and chatted with me the whole time I waited for my food.

Below are some words I wrote a few months ago. I was back last week. My lunch of chips, salsa and chile verde burrito combination were delicious. It's worth a visit. /**** Mexican Comfort Food 1 Star For Decor .5 Star for Cleanliness .8 Star for Service 1.5 Stars for Food Many years ago I met Cesar Chavez and sat down to dinner with hundreds of campesinos in Delano California. That was one of my first uncomfortable crossings of a cultural divide, but that's lots of other stories. My first meal this week at Mi Rancho brought memories of that meal rushing back from the deep adolescent crevices of my mind. This is good, down-home Mexican food. Nothing fancy, food prepared well. I had some adovada at one of my meals that melted in my mouth. The chips are very good, the salsa not extremely hot and tasty with onions, cilantro and tomatoes just so. I was thinking about writing about salsa as a near-perfect male health food, but I've been way too busy and now it's way too late. Some of my co-workers have had lunch here six days in a row, and they're going back tomorrow. The Yuma native hosting us almost worships here.

The food is amazing!! The ladies that work there are even more awesome!!! How could life get any better? Amazing food with an awesome staff to serve it!! Been going there for 7 years..."it just keeps getting better!!"

The experience here is exactly what we were looking for: Hole in the wall...check Clean and authentic.....check Amazing food....check Good and honest suggestion.....check I asked for the Beef tongue burrito and she said it was very watery, but good. She was spot on and even though in the end it was not my favorite, I loved her honesty. Best Mexican food in Yuma by far!!!!

I've been going to this place for years now and for the first time orders the Queso Fundido with Chorizo. Wow! It is delightful. Best I've ever had.

Dry beans, severely undercooked rice, and bland guacamole is what accompanied my can-tasting beef enchiladas. As a resident of Western AZ, I suspect this joint got its ratings b/c it is "Yuma good" the same way every highly rated restaurant in Havasu, Kingman, etc turns out to be fairly crappy.

We Yelped for a good Mexican restaurant.... not one of those "taco bell/El torito" fake ones that cater to people that think Nacho flavored corn chips are too spicy and "authentic Mexican"...... We found the gem in a strip mall..... ZERO ambiance..... but who eats ambiance?!?!?!?!?! Food was GREAT, service was fast and friendly..... We have found a new place to eat in Yuma....... sorry Denny's.... Fix your A/C, clean up and MAYBE we will go back..... FOR NOW THOUGH...TACOS MI RANCHO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

yum, Yum, YUM!!! Made the drive over from SD. Spent the first 5 years of my life in Yuma. And 30 years later, wandered down "memory lane"--my house is SO much smaller than I remember. Boy has it changed. The town is so much bigger and with "chain-stores/food". Such a delight to see and get to eat at one of The Originals!! Walked in and was happily greeted with "Sit anywhere". I really wish I remembered the name of our server. She was younger, VERY cheerful (not the fake kind, we REALLY felt welcomed!!). I ordered the #1 (enchilada, taco, and tamale--way too much). My husband ordered the special for the day: chili verde. We both consumed our food in less than 10 mins. SOOOO GOOD!! Fresh iced tea in HUGE glasses. As I looked around at the other patron's food, I would have ordered them as well. The service was incredibly attentive. We really enjoyed our food, environment, experience!! Thank you!! And God Bless!!

This place is really great for margaritas... they are absolutely massive and they taste amazing. The location is cool, very close to downtown/old town. The interior is very colorful and vibrant. The chips + salsa are also pretty good, although not as unique as some. Service is friendly. I highly recommend this place for the above, but I cannot speak one way or the other about the food here, as I'm vegetarian.

Returning from a trip to Monument Valley Utah, we craved some good Mexican food. Yelp came through again. We were Happy, great creamy beans, chicharrones tacos with excellent friendly service. Mi Rancho will be on our list. Thank you.

In Yuma for a few days and only had time to get out and try one Yelp suggestion. I was really pleased to have tried Tacos Mi Rancho. I had a chorizo torta, a chorizo taco and an al pastor taco. The flavor was quite good, especially on the chorizo. The service was very friendly, albeit a bit slow. All in all, an excellent visit, though!

  • Patrick L.

Albonding-ding-ding!!! wow the albondingas here are fantastico. If you're hungry on your way between San Diego and Phoenix stop here and fill the gut with good grub.

  • Eric H.

I stopped here based on previous Yelp reviews. I was on a tight time frame, so the location was great, a block and a half off the 8, no traffic jams or lines. Take the exit just at the Cal/Arizona border. As for the food, better than average. I had a chile relleno and a carnitas taco, a la carte. Both were large and tasty a along with the chips and salsa (very good), i was completely stuffed. Service was excellent, with friendly servers and the food arrived quickly. The ambience is what i would call the Mexican equivalent of a 1950's diner. Overall, i would make this my only stop in Yuma if time is of the essence.

  • C. H.

We started off with the queso with chorizo and it was very good. Served with homemade tortillas...what's not to like? My husband had the El pastor dinner which didn't quite have the flavor we had hoped. I had a shrimp burrito and a fish taco. The fish taco was quite good but the shrimp burrito had absolutely NO flavor except for the shrimp. I gave up and cut it open and it had boiled shrimp with chopped cabbage, cilantro and tomatoes. No garlic, no sauce no nothing. I don't know why I can't find great Mexican food in Yuma! Overall the food was good, not great. The service was excellent and the place was clean and the tortillas were very very good.

On our way back to Phoenix from San Diego, we were craving Mexican food and found this little gem. The food was very good for the prices, and the service was amazing. Our waitress continued to fill our water glasses and bring anything we requested...don't be fooled by the outside! Great little casual restaurant that hit the spot halfway home :)

Only my 3rd visit to this local Mexican eatery. We were greeted promptly and seated within a minute or two even though the place was quite busy. Our waitress was pleasant and neat in appearance with a nice smile on her face. No pressure to order quickly which is always a plus. We ordered a Cheese Quesadilla with Green Chiles for our appetizer. To my surprise the Green Chile's were Fresh Roasted! Very NICE Mi Rancho! Very Tasty! Mi Rancho's House Salsa is pleasantly tasteful. No noticeable heat to mention but HOT salsa isn't always better IMO. I ordered the standard Red Chile Cheese Enchilada platter which consisted of three enchiladas, rice and beans. Portion was more than ample. First impression was that the enchilada sauce was canned "El Pato" sauce. Maybe, maybe not however this is not a bad thing as I love the canned El Pato sauce. Apologies to Mi Rancho if it is in fact home made. The sauce was not bitter where so many red chile based sauces are. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! I see the word "authentic" used a lot here on Yelp. Mi Rancho is classic "Border" Mexican food IMO. This cuisine can vary as you travel the US/Mexico border, be it Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. So maybe regional/border applies best. I may return to check out some of their Marisco items.

This place is better than any of the Mexican restaurants in Yuma that Yumans generally rave about (you know where I'm talking about: Mr's G's, Chile Pepper, Herraduras, La Fonda, Chretins, etc). If you are passing through Yuma and have 30 minutes to eat, this is a convenient place that isn't too far away from the highway. The food is delicious, portions are hefty, and the prices are excellent. The rolled tacos were the best I've had anywhere in Yuma... the burrito was also excellent. The service was also solid. Yes, nothing is perfect - the facility is on the older side and the decor is tacky, but the pros make it worth the trip to ignore the lack of ambiance.

Traveling east from Los Angeles metro, rather than traveling on the I-10 and stuck in traffic, I always made it a point to go south to San Diego and get on the I-8 so I can not only bypass all the idiots in Phoenix, but I can stop by either the In N Out in El Centro (the best one I ever ate at in all of California) or here at Mi Rancho in Yuma. The food is fresh and I always leave happy. The I-8 isn't a busy road traveling east and even though you have to travel into the city when in Yuma, this detour is well worth the wait.

If you're looking for ambiance and atmosphere, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for tasty Mexican food, come here hungry. I tried a combination consisting of a rolled taco, beef tostada, and Chile relleno. It comes with rice and beans and you can, of course, eat all of the chips and salsa you want while you wait, but save room for the entree! Portions are generous and I found it seasoned well for my taste. My server was friendly and efficient and spoke English well though her first language was Spanish. I'll certainly come back here on my next trip.

Good food. Large menu with generous portions. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Most importantly... authentic mexican food. Highlights; huge chicken chimichanga with flavorful shredded chicken, queso fundido w chorizo , tamales and carnitas. And the salsa served with the chips is fantastic.

"Let's drive down 4th street and if anything reminds me of what I saw on Yelp, we'll stop there." ... thank goodness only Mi Rancho stayed in my memory because this place was very good!!! 4.5 STARS. We parked in the back lot which was almost full. Good sign. The locals dig this place. w00t w00t! Got in and waited 10 minutes to be seated. Food seems to just take awhile to get to you in Yuma. Maybe it's the leisurely pace or they're taking their time to make things right. Whatever the case, Mi Rancho explains that their food is made fresh and cooked to order. When they have a lot of customers, serving time may take up to 45 minutes. We waited 1/2hr but were satisfied with the yummy chips and salsa. When food finally arrived... everything tasted awesome. =P Mi Rancho is quite possibly my favorite Mexican restaurant in Yuma thus far. Sonara roll (lightly fried tortilla) with shredded chicken - this roll was so well made. It was springy, light and not greasy. Delicious. Don't think I've had anything like it. I think this was $1.50-$2.00? Carne Asada and Fish Taco - Lots of meat!! Spilled out of the tacos! =) Again, so yummy. =) Each was about $2.25? My coworkers all enjoyed their meal as well. =) Oh! I got takeout for my husband ...cuz he was visiting. And he LOVED his chile reno... said the sauce was unique and the chili was done just right... and this was after he microwaved it (he got here late).

I had a delicious meal of steak quesadilla and a bean and cheese burrito. The food is different / better than most Mexican places the salsa is spicy, the tortillas are fresh, and overall it was a great experience. My only complaint was something I never thought I'd say - too much cheese. And don't get me wrong, I'm a cheese lover, but there was so much that grease was spilling out the sides and I couldn't finish. Regardless, I would go back and try it again.

I was driving through to San Diego and looking for a fast but tasty lunch. I went with the reviews and it was home run. I purchased two tacos, both authentic and HUGE! Every meal comes with chips and salsa for free, the ice tea comes in a monster glass with unlimited refills. Great service too!

Yummy tacos, tasty salsa, good chips, standard rice and beans. Prompt and pleasant service! I didn't give it five starts because it didn't blow my mind. But it's worth a stop if your passing by.

I had walked by this place a couple of times before I decided to try it. I am glad I did try it. The food was excellent. I had a breakfast burrito and it was flavorful and the salsa was very fresh. I will be trying it for dinner.

I rolled into Yuma a bit late after a long day of work, had a very bad experience at Yuma Landing Bar & Grill, and crossed the street to try this place. Excellent choice. I was the only customer in the place at nearly 9PM on a Thursday night, yet I was greeted enthusiastically and treated to fast service and good food. I ordered a margarita, and although it was nothing to write home about, it was huge and tasty after a day hiking and driving around the desert. The next morning, I tossed my hotel breakfast voucher for Yuma Landing in the trashcan, went back to Mi Rancho, and had another good meal. Seriously, try this place if you're passing through Yuma. It's less than one minute south of I-8, and it's a zillion times better than any crappy chain restaurant. Just look for the little shack on the west side of the road whose sign looks like it reads "Mira Ho."

I stumbled into this place on a trip to Yuma. Although the outside looks a little run down, the packed parking lot was a good indication. I ended up eating here twice. The first time I had a taco and enchilada with a side of guacamole. All of the food was very good and filling. On my second visit I had the special that night which was the enchilada style burrito. This was extremely good. The only thing that could have been better was the chips. The service was good and by the second visit I realized that I just needed to go to the register in order to pay rather than wait for the check. I will definitely be going back.

Decided to try lunch here because of "Yelp". It was unexpectedly good. My wife said the tamale was one of the best she'd ever had. I had asada tacos and they were delicious. Nothing fancy here just good food. I would eat here again.

My husband and I just drove away from eating lunch at Mi Rancho. It was some of the best Mexican food we've had in a long time...and we are very picky about Mexican food, having both grown up in Texas. We highly recommend stopping here. I got the 3 folded taco plate and the hubs got the #1 on the combo...tamale, enchilada and folded taco. But it all looks amazing!!! and chips and salsa? Omg!! We did a happy dance lol

First time here. Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in the southwest. Burritos are amazing - potato & eggs, shrimp, machaca con papa y frijoles. Would be a 5-star if we would've tried something other than burritos.

    (4)
  • Greg M.

Don't let the building deter you inside lies a hidden gem. The Margarita was well made. The chips and salsa were par. The Chile Verde burrito was the single handed best burrito I've ever had. Who would of thought a little mom and pop Mexican restaurant would have such good food. I'm always leery of Mexican food, frankly because I feel it all taste about the same. Not here. The burrito had so much meat in it: it leaves me scratching my head how they made any money on it. The flavors and seasoning were impeccable. Seriously 4 dollars. Amazing! Just amazing!

Mucho Macho Margarita is number 1! Chips and Salsa are great. Just about anything you order off the menu is great. Very authentic food. Service is above and beyond, the waitresses dress up and look very nice.

Stopped over on a trip between San Diego and Phoenix, this time using Yelp to find some authentic Mexican food, and were not steered wrong. The food was muy excelente y sabroso. The staff were friendly and flirted constantly with our 5 month old boy. I would definitely visit here again for the food and the experience.

Came to Yuma to drop of our son at College. So we were looking for a place for dinner and wanted to try some good Mexican food. So after reading the reviews on Yelp, Mi Rancho was the top choice. We were not disappointed. I had the Carne Asda Taco combination plate. My wife had the 3 tacos ( Fish, Lengua, Carne) Combination and my daughter had the Carne Asada Burrito. Everything was so good even the complimentary chips and salsa. Oh yea, let's not forget about the margaritas. Strong and good. Very friendly staff. A must if you are staying in Yuma.

Wan authentic Mexican resturant in Yuma. Our food was excellent. One member of our party ordered an entre that did not suit her. They were happy to allow her to reorder with no extra cost and were very profession about it.

Stopped here on the way home from San Diego. FOOD: Good chips and pico-ish salsa. I had the red chile burrito, enchilada style. Good sized and tasty. Friend had rolled chicken tacos, and he said they were good as well. Topped with guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. SERVICE: Really good at first, but then it took FOREVER to get the check. Ended up having to go up to the front and ask for it. Also, the A/C is sub-zero and dumps out on you from a pipe above the tables.

Ok returned for the 2nd time for lunch and ordered off the senior menu(didn't read the fine print that it is the lunch special during the week last time I was there) Only 6.50 per plate makes it a good deal for lunch. Still a little more on the pricey side but it really is good, well prepared food. This time I had the beef enchilada and it was excellent. The meat was moist and flavorful and the red sauce was perfect. Some places have a sauce that is too sweet, this wasn't. Great place to go for lunch, it can get busy so go early. This will be my go to place for Mexican, unless I am craving Mr. G bean burrito. :)

Best Carne in Yuma...BY FAR...complimented with fabulous rice, chips & salsa, fish tacos, and pretty much the best service from a mom & pop establishment. These guys care about the customer and prepare the best food in town. Had it for dinner last night and had a chorizo burro this morning for breakfast. Stop by...I guarantee you will leave with a full belly of fresh deliciousness and a smile on your face. ENJOY!

This restaurant deserves more like a 3.5 star review. Stopped in based on Yelp reviews while I was in Yuma on business. The service and staff is very fast and friendly. As with most, Mexican restaurants the meal is started with a basket of tortilla chips and salsa. I had the strip steak and al pastor. Both are very flavorful and tasty but a little on the fatty chewy side but still good. My meal was served with beans, mexican rice, and lettuce and sour cream. I was a little disappointed by the amount of lettuce and sour creme as well as the absence of gaucamole but they did include a very tasty salsa. All in all a nice restaurant that I will definitely visit again next time I am in town. Definitely on the lower end of the $$ scale. Oh yeah, the strawberry margarita was very good and huge to boot!

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Yuma! It's always crowded which tells me that everyone is in agreement. I'm addicted to their cowboy style shrimp (Shrimp wrapped in bacon). They use HUGE shrimp!! I've also tried their carnitas plate which was good. Probably my favorite thing there are the Micheladas :) I usually get mine with tecate light. I've also seen people order this HUGE margarita. I'm not a fan so I can't review it. But what I can say is that it's huge. And I mean huge. The largest one I've seen. So I guess any margarita fans out there who think they can throw this big boy back should give it a whirl and put up a review ;)

Three words: Mucho Macho Burrito. That is the best dish on the menu. They have some pretty good food but the Mucho Macho Burrito is by far the best for the money at only a dollar more than the other main dishes. If you can finish the entire thing, you're more of a man than me. I would have liked to give this place 5 stars but I can not after being hassled twice at breakfast about wanting the chips with salsa. Apparently it is forbidden to bring out chips and salsa before 11:00 or whatever time the lady kept telling me was the time they begin to serve the chips. One time she even told me they were ready in the kitchen, but just not allowed to bring them out yet. Either way, it irritated me... minus one star for the chips and salsa shenanigans.

This has been our go to joint in Yuma for many years. Today the food was just okay though I think we could have ordered better. The flour tortillas remain lovely. It is just off I8 on 4th ave an easy stop when driving through Yuma. Very nice service.

We ordered the chicken shrimp fajitas and the chile relleno. We are from San Diego so we know mexican food. Wow this was great! It is not cheap, but it is not expensive. If youa re in Yuma and feel like mexican food, you need to make this your stop.

love love LOVE this place!! Everytime my family comes into town we HAVE to visit Mi Rancho!! They are on the expensive side for this town, but they're not THAT expensive when compared to our regular haunts in Phoenix. My favorite things at this place are the Al Pastor and Carne Asada plate!! ah-mazing carne asada grilled to perfection along with braised and then grilled pork make my favorite al pastor! The tortillas aren't the greatest, but the salsas more than okay!! The last time we went my cousin got the mucho macho burrito and holy SHIT-BALLS!! This thing is HUGE! Its filled with beef, beans, rice, lettuce & tomatos! and served with french fries?! WTH? but whatever, it was yummyier than yummy! I took a pic and the pic didn't do it justice and then he took his fork and layed it accross the burrito of my nightmares and well... check the pics to see how it compared to the average sized fork! It was crazy, we love coming here. I will DEFINATLY be back! with my whole family in tow! The service needs some training, they're not really the best, but it IS Yuma... so I don't really have high expectations from servers in this town, but it'd be nice if they stepped it up a notch. The sodas are huge which is great because they don't neeed to be refilled as often. The food is amazing, the salsa's even better. i dig the kistchy mexican feel. Especially the murals of different famous mexicans. My favorite is the Selena portrait. SELENAS!! *tear* If you're tired of all the hooks and chains this tourist town is FLOODED with... get off 16th and come to 4th ave and give this place a try. you will NOT be disappointed!!

Went past here based on yelp reviews on a Friday night. Was pretty busy. Wait was about 15 minutes. Party of 4 split the Rancherito appetizer which was very good and filling, probably too filling. I had the Enchalada style Burrito which was about a 3.5. Two others had the Fajitis, 1 shrimp and 1 beef and sayed they were very good. I had a Magarita which was about a 2, a little dissapointed by that. The ambience of the place is easily a 5, very authentic and well kept. One thing that I really liked is that there was plenty of space, people weren't all over each other as in many locally owned spots. Service was good, waitresses were pleasant and prompt. I'll be back.

  • Nick G.

I don't know whether this place is that much different than the one up the street but that lady who reviewed must have gone on a bad night. I know this spot is where the "locals" go, not the fancy touristy one up the road. As far as the food is concerned, Awesome! I always get the "Carnitas" or shredded pork dish. Simply amazing. So simple, just the seasoned pork, some homemade guac, sour cream, salsa verde, refried beans, rice and tortillas is all that's needed to make a happy stomach. I'm salivating just thinking about it and I just had a huge Columbian lunch! I'll have to try another dish when I'm out there to get some variety and update you peeps so if your ever passing by Yuma on I-8 you can have more to go on. Whenever I'm in Yuma for work this place is a must stop every single time. It so hard being on the east coast and loving good mexican... =(

Mehh. My diet pepsi was awesome. Chips were super greasy looking like they had been double fried. Salsa was good. Had the combo 1 plate. It was good but not great! Hubby had the carnitas and deemed it boring!

  • Casie W.

Found this place by asking a Mexican friend where the best Mexican food was in town -- besides his house! I'm a big eater but the servings are huge so I usually order ala carte instead of a combo meal. Under $5 for two chile rellenos garnished with a small salad of lettuce and tomato that fill me up at dinner. Not sure where folks are from, but I don't consider $9, the average price for a combo meal, to be that expensive either. Carnitas are wonderful. Chile relleno are some of the best I've had -- very crisp coating and lots of cheese in flavorful peppers. My brother tells me the menudo is some of the best he's had -- I'll have to take his word for it. The only time I've been disappointed was with the carne asada. Chopped fine, it was very flavorful but a bit dry. May have been a bad night, since others have said that it's usually very good.

Not the best Mexican food in Yuma. Enchilada sauce tasted like it was right out of a can. The beef in my enchi was dry and bland. Service was lack luster and it took longer than expected to get the food. I would rather try somewhere else the next time in Yuma.

This was the end of a lovely weekend in Yuma visiting our son. We went to Mi Rancho for breakfast! Most of us are not breakfast food people so we opted insted for the wonderful mexican fare. I have white menudo and Al Pastor taco. Delicious. My hubby had the chiliquieles and said they were delicious. Our son had a chicken chili relleno and said it was the best he had tasted. Overall, a great experience in a darling family feeling restaurant. LOVED IT and will go back!

We were headed to another restaurant but noticed all the cars parked outside Mi Rancho. Other place was closed for a holiday and we returned to Mi Rancho. Great food! Has to be some of the best Mexican food we've eaten. Salsa was warm and interesting, chili rellanos were great, flour tortillas were homemade and soft, huevos rancheros were great. We'll stop here again when we're in Yuma.

this place serves solid "real" Mexican food. Having lived in Phx for some time and spent more than a fair amount of time in mexico I know the difference. It's not tex-mex, not new mexico, not south american, but Mexican. It's quaint, meaning not fancy. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the service was decent (I asked for chicken and shrimp fajitas and got beef and shrimp), the food was tasty (perfect beans and rice that had not been sitting around all day), and the beer was cold. The people who would pass this place by would also not eat shwarma from a street vendor in the middle east and would miss out on both accounts because of their nerves. Will go here again, maybe for b-fast next time.

Found Mi Rancho Restaurant while driving by and wanted to try some authentic Mexican food food while I was in Yuma. And boy do I regret stuffing myself with a cheeseburger before I got to the restaurant. Because I was full, I only got one thing, the fish taco. That alone impressed me. The fish was crisp and not over-fried or dry. Great coleslaw to top of the taco. I wished I had the opportunity to get a few more, but I didn't have enough time in town. But if I'm in Yuma again, I'll definitely be coming back to Mi Rancho Restaurant for a full meal this time.

Love the fish tacos. Prices are ok, not the most expensive but definitely not the cheapest in Yuma. Service is better than most. Authentic Mexican flair.

  • S-M R.

Very good, but not great. Rice was a little dry and so on, and there isn't much flare, but it's a very solid place to eat after a long drive. The tortillas were excellent, served very warm, and cooked perfectly. My steal was just a standard flank steak, but my friend's pork pastor was amazing, seasoned wonderfully. The margaritas were exactly what I needed after a long day, and just the right amount of salt.

This was my favorite mexican in Yuma. Good food. The other Mi Rancho across town is the same operation, but isn't exactly the same. That one is good, too, but the menus are different and so is the food. Some things are better in one and some in the other. Both are good. I like the smaller one in the 188 S 4th ave location.

  • Joy D.

I came to Yuma on business. I wasn't sure what I would find to eat that was decent, so I Yelped the restaurants in the area. I happened to read the reviews of several other restaurants in the area but settled on Mi Rancho because it rated as one of the highest with 4.5 stars. After having dinner here I could tell why it had gotten so many great reviews. The staff was awesome; they were friendly and responsive to all of my questions despite how busy they seemed. The food was excellent all the way down to their salsa. I wanted to taste a little bit of everything so I sampled a couple carnitas tacos as an appetizer and proceeded to order the grilled chicken as an entree. Both entrees were delicious and certainly comparable to the Mexican food we're blessed with in the SF Bay Area. I would definitely try this place out if you're looking for something tasty and traditional in Yuma.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America.
