Awesome good breakfast. I loved my crepes and I actually finished my whole plate (which I never do). My boyfriend enjoyed the hell out of his skillet. I didn't like that I wasn't allowed to use my $2 off coupon without printing it (who prints things anymore when we have mobile devices?). I'd probably go back.

I don't want to give all two stars but I will since I can only update my review and not leave a new one. I went back to the Good Egg today and was expecting a totally awesome breakfast like last time. Totally wrong. I got the Good Egg Benedict. The potatoes were super dry. The ham on the beni was cold and the eggs were poached hard. My waiter did send it back and have a new one made but I ended up eating my breakfast after the other 3 diners at my table had finished their breakfasts. This experience at the Good Egg was suck.

This place has gone down hill big time. The prices have gone up substantially while the meals have got smaller. Management just doesn't seem to care as much either, let alone the servers. I sat by the kitchen last time and the servers and cooks were yelling obscenities to one another. Plus, the new decor is terrible and the calorie count is now absent from the menu. I have no idea what happened to this place it was such a nice restaurant. I steer clear of this place, you're better off going to EggConnection, it's much better.

The food wasn't bad actually. But the service, is terrible. Went today, and the waiter showed up 20 min after we were sat, was in a hurry and had to repeat our orders 4 times because he kept getting them wrong. When our food was served, the waiter handed my plate to me and it was so hot it burnt my hand. When I dropped the plate because it was so hot onto the table he gave me a dirty look, and said it wasn't that hot. Following that, the waiter didn't even come back to give us our check, instead a different waiter was sent to do that. We had no drink refills. When I went to pay, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip - I said no because the service was aweful and because i burned my hand because of the waiter. The cashier just handed me the charge slip and said sign here. No care/concern as to why the service was bad, nor about my hand. Will not be returning.

We have been regulars at Good Egg for years. The food is very good - even the lower calorie options like La Casa Potencia and Egg White & the 7 veggies. They give you a pot of coffee for the table. Nice not having to wait for refills. The recently removed the calorie counts on their menu. Hope that returns soon!

Note to Self.. if the waitress asks if you are ready to order don't ask her to come back in one minute, just make up something. I think she took 4 other tables orders and about 10 minutes later came back and took ours. Food came out fast after that and no real complaints besides service as pancakes and toast were good. I guess I came in today before 7 am so staff was limited to just 2 people that I saw. Very poor service, food was OK - need a hostess and not to use a waitress for that service in the early mornings as many were just waiting for a table while the staff was scrambling a bit.

We were seated quickly for a Sunday morning. Our table on the outdoor patio was less than exciting. It was wobbly and a little dirty. And the chairs are not easy on the back. There's dust everywhere and the concrete needs a good power washing. Spilled syrup and crumbs have it discolored and old looking. I hesitate to use the word 'filthy' but it was very close. I got the southern omelette, happy to say it was quite good. I may try a different location next time.

You're a good egg, The Good Egg! Ventured out to The Good Egg this morning with my daughter and two grandchildren and although it was 8AMish, we thought we'd have to wait to be seated but were pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant only half full. Seated with water and our own hot pot of coffee, our waiter gave the kids crayons and paper to keep them busy. Step that customer service up with 2 complimentary plates of apple slices and a little silver bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for the kiddos and you've got a fan here. My Monterey omelette of egg whites, chopped bacon, monterey jack cheese, turkey breast, tomato and avocado with an add-in of jalapeno was perfectly moist and delicious. Sourdough toast and fresh fruit rounded out my meal. L likes her breakfast on the sweet side so she ordered the Pineapple Upside Down pancakes and I was shocked when she said they were too sweet for her. Carmelized pecans, brown sugar and citrus glazed the pineapple and cherries which would have been good except the pancakes were swimming in sweet, sugary glaze. Little I and C ate from the kids menu and it was a lot of food. We made several requests of our waiter (more coffee, more cream, 2 more orders of bacon, another kid's order of pancakes, oops...Cheerios on the floor, more please) and he never batted an eye and smiled warmly and genuinely. I wish I remembered his name because he deserves a mention. Fail on my part. As we were finishing up we realized that the place was packed and were very thankful we had arrived when we did. Our little 2 and 4 year olds walked out of The Good Egg happy which in turn made us smile and rub our full bellies as well.

I had heard a lot about this place and always wanted to try it. I ,in Tucson and waiting for a store to open so my friend and I went in. I had the Good eggs Benedict and my buddy had the Baconado omelet(I think that's what it was called, not sure about the spelling). The service was good and prom. The food was just ok. The poached eggs on my eggs Benedict were way over cooked and were more like hard boiled eggs and the dish itself was barely warm. My buddy said his omelet was just ok and seemed to lack some flavor. He also said that it was a little watery inside. This place is also pretty pricey for breakfast. I can't say that this place was bad, but I can say that it was not really good enough to go back.

Wanted to have a Mexican style breakfast and couldn't find anything close by where we live so we came here. Im so glad we did. They have about 5 "southwest style" dishes and they were great! I had the old Pueblo and my bf had the breakfast burrito and we split a side of pancakes. Everything was prepared perfectly! It was the perfect meal to start off the day (we went hiking later that day). We thought it would be busy because it was a Saturday morning but we got sat right away and our server was right behind the host to get our drink order. Great speedy service and even better food.

Breakfast here is outstanding. Menu has been upgraded. For example, they now have a new juice selection. Kale Tonic....Kale,Fuji Apple, Cucumber and Lemon. And this one. It's called Day Glow. Carrot,Orange, Lemon and Organic Ginger. Yummy!

We used to love this place and would come a couple of times a month. Well, we were surprised today when we got here, to find the menu completely changed! One of the best things about the old menu was calorie information; which is absent on the new menu. The Montery omelet is gone! The eggstras are gone. Combine the new limited menu with our server being inattentive and rude, and being charged for iced tea refills, I'm not sure we will be back anytime soon. While the food was still delicious, it didn't feel like the family-feel it used to.

Service was friendly and quick. Not only was the food delicious, but it was huge. Was very filling and very satisfying. Great place for a brunch and get togethers. Planning to come back when im back in Arizona!

I've returned several times after my original review. The owner was even kind enough to reach out to me, however, with my crazy travel schedule, I wasn't able to connect with him to follow up on his generous offer. Now that my work schedule has slowed down and I'm able to eat without having a laptop attached to my hip, I can rate the restaurant on something other than the wifi. The food is great and the service is great. I would recommend the establishment. I'm glad I gave them a second chance.

Our food came out cold but the staff remade it quickly. I would have given them a 3.5.

Where to go for brunch when your group includes vegans, carnivores, healthy ones, decadent ones and kids? Well, the good egg is good for all age groups, diets and palates. It has a very pro-local feel with the u of a uniform and southwestern fare, but it also has a down country feel too. The menu is rather extensive and they proactively pull any under performing dishes. Which is sad in the case of the Sonoran tuna coleslaw which got pulled a couple of menu changes ago (I loved it but oh well). The menu also lists calories which is a big plus. The variety has plenty of options in the sweet, savory, omelet, sandwich and salad and southwest categories, All of the dishes are consistently well executed and the service is on point. The presentation is always nice. The wait can get long on Sundays so it's worthwhile to call ahead.

  • Erik J.

The Good Egg never disappoints (me, at least). Saturday amd Sunday mornings are always packed here so plan on waiting a few minutes at least OR if it's just you and your significant other (or sidekick, or whatever) the "bar" is seat- yourself so I always snag those seats. The French Toast has HUGE slices of bread and the skillets always fill me up. Avoid getting coffee, though. I only had 1 cup and it was still $2.50!! A bit of a ripoff but now I know for next time I'm there.

Love this place! The bacon rocks, and the pineapple upside down pancakes are amazing. Like try to pry them out of my cold dead hands amazing. The only reason I'm docking a star is because I found a piece of paper in my orange juice, but they comped the OJ. :) Quick, friendly service and great food on the way to the Apple Store. :)

We love to come here every Saturday. It's just the thing for a hungry tummy after sleeping in. The food is always fresh. The service is always friendly and prompt. The prices are good. They are even starting to know our names when we walk in.

This place has really gone downhill.... The first clue was when I noticed they started using crappy smuckers jelly. What happened to the good jelly from Oxnard?! How many people does it take to get your drink order? Apparently two and they still get it wrong. I'm almost scared to see what the food is going to look like. Drive across town to their other location at Grant and Swan they have better food and servers.

  • Jannien R.

Hair in my pancakes! I'm so sad to say that my food was so yummy UNTIL I almost consumed a thick black hair sewn in between my pancakes. Needless to say I was immediately done eating but to my surprise when I informed my waitress, who never refilled our drinks, it was brushed off as if it was no big deal, giving off the impression that this may happen quite often. They replaced my pancakes with no apology and I had to confront the manager in order to get a hearted "sorry" and a free breakfast coupon (denied because I will never eat here again.)

  • Monica E.

Wow! I was already impressed before my food even came. What I like, in summary: 1. There are a ton of families that eat here -- lots of little ones and young folks everywhere 2. The greeters are very attentive and work to get you seated ASAP 3. The server calls you things like "honey" and "sweetie" -- total homestyle 4. The place is tidy 5. The menu is huge! Took me a good 10 minutes to talk about the menu and finally decide what I wanted 6. They have a tasty local organic hot sauce (Arizona Pepper's) 7. The sourdough is fluffy and thick -- delicious! On this visit, I got the country omelet without ham. Bacon and sausage were plenty. I also got sourdough bread and got a side of the skillet potatoes. I was surprised to find that no grits are served here. What?! But that's OK -- because the restaurant serves a ton of side dishes. I can only see one major downfalls here: The price-to-quantity ration is way off. Nearly $3 for a side of potatoes? And the omelet only comes with a side of bread? What?! But the food is not at all greasy and has that wonderful "clean" taste to it, so you really have to write it off that you are paying for quality. This is no greasy spoon. Not even close. But if greasy spoon is what you seek, along with food with heft, I suggest trying out one of Tucson's other fine family diners. And if you have any attention-related issues, beware. This place is busy -- like, crazy busy. Yet, organized busy. Things just kind of flow together, so it shouldn't be too-too much of a distraction, especially after your food arrives.

My husband and I eat here every single Sunday morning, and occasionally once more during the week. First off, awesome staff! Christian, the manager, is great. And, a big ass thumbs up for our favorite waiter, Steven (we eat here often enough that that we've nicknamed him Jessica.... and of course there's a story to go along with that that we won't get in to) the service is almost always stellar. On the rare off day (when Steven has the day off) where the service isn't up to par, Christian always makes things right. Moving on to the food. I don't like eggs. Yup, that's right. I don't like them. But, here, I do! I get a spinach and cheese omelet, with home fries (a little bland, but I ask them to over cook them a bit, and they're yummy) and small buttermilk pancakes. Om nom nom nom. All that food, good $7. Wooo! Let's talk coffee. I am not pleasant, pre-coffee. I mostly growl, and flip people off. The Good Egg brings you a whole carafe of coffee. (And Steven knows us well enough to bring a small truck load of sugar, too) After breakfast, we are always offered coffee (hot or iced) to go. Bless you, Good Egg! Not only do I get my 2 cups with breakfast, but then I get a 32 oz iced coffee to take to work. The icing on the cake, is the punch cards. Buy 7 meals, get one free. With how often we're there, a freebie is always appreciated! Seeing as I'm posting this on a Saturday night, we'll see ya'll in the morning! Save us our normal patio seat, and gallon of coffee!

BEST BREAKFAST RESTAURANT NO DOUBT! The wait time is no longer than 15 minutes, the host makes you feel welcome with a warm smile. The service is amazing, every server I've had was very polite and friendly. The food is always freshly prepared, you can definitely tell comparing to other breakfast restaurants. My first choice for breakfast food will always be here.

The Good Egg is consistently one of my favorite eating experiences. I have probably had about 5 trips per month, and it is way above average and the fact that they serve great food that's healthy for you and have the calories written down, shows that they care about their clients health and welfare. MELISSA is a fabulous server and I will always recommend this place.

Having flown in from the East Coast my young son was terribly confused as to what time to wake up. Having exhausted all the options in the hotel room we decided that we would head out the door at the unholy hour of 6:00 AM. We had no plan and just jumped in the car relying on the magical Yelp app to guide me. Luckily we were right next to The Good Egg. Like creepers my wife and I waited in the parking lot at 6:25 waiting for the store to open. Believe it or not, we were not alone. As the time rolled around we stormed the front door and found ourselves alone on their fantastic patio. My wife got the Chorizo skillet, I got the oatmeal, and my son got the simply cheesy omelet. All three options succeeded admirably, and I left being not only happy with my healthy choice, but actually full! Happy with our CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP breakfast we paid up and headed out the door to enjoy the rest of early-morning Tucson. Now...Off to Sabino Canyon!

I went to breakfast with friends on Dec 28. I ordered the Spanish omelet and I can say I have never had better !! A great amount of cheese. But you could taste the other ingredients as well! That will remain my order of choice in this Good Egg, you can be sure!!!

Worst experience ever. First we waited over the quoted amount of time- which is no big deal. We knew they would be busy. We were sat and ordered our food ASAP since I had to be at work and we were starving. 45 minutes later the server came back and told us that the computer wasn't working and she wanted to make sure our ticket printed. So we told her again what we had. She ran to the back and came back and said our ticket had printed, but it was going to be another 10 minutes. We told her nevermind. We watched every other person around us get their food. Strange how the computers didn't work for our table only. People make mistakes, we understand that. Don't lie and tell us the ticket got lost. We left after being there over an hour. But to be fair- she apologized and offered us a free piece of toast.

This used to be our go to breakfast joint. Loved the cinnamon roll, coffee and the wide variety of breakfast dishes. I am not sure if they got bought out, but there have been some big changes that the hubby and I are not fans of. First, they used to have a light roast coffee that was delish. Now the lighter roast tastes like the devil's anus. They have removed the calorie information from their shrinking menu. It seems like they are attempting to class up the joint: turbinado sugar, upgraded patio seating, however they have taken away a few things. The jelly selection has been removed from the tables, now you have to wave down a waiter to get a dish of strawberry jam. The new water containers are a old fashion looking milk jar, but they are difficult to clean so you get floaters and a film. The frequent flier stamp cards went from 6 to 12 stamps. All in all, it looks like we won't be going back anytime soon.

1st visit and last visit. I ordered a wrap and asked the waitress 3 times to make sure there was no guacamole on it because I am allergic. After 3 bites I immediately become I'll and ask her if there is any avocado in the wrap and she says no. No only was it spread in the sandwich under the lettuce there were huge hunks in my wrap when I opened it up. I spent 40 minutes in the bathroom puking my brains out. The manager never came to check on me she was only concerned with my companion paying for his burrito. Talk about adding in st to injury.

The good egg! Always a great experience. I enjoy the bacado omelette and HUGE pancakes. Always nice to add a side kick of the month to change it up. Just writing the review makes me want to go for a bite. Wait vary with the day or time but it's never too long. If you haven't tried it yet, it's time to venture out and give it a go.

  • Hayley B.

Terrible service, waited 30 minutes to order after our menus had been closed. Couldn't even get the waitress' attention when she was at the table right next to us. They messed up my order, but I didn't hear a single apology. All i got was a kanye shrug and a little 'apologetic' smile.

    (1)
  • Mark A.

It is easy to get too which is a plus, and the service is good. The food is about average, the potatoes were over well done on one side and not done on the other side. I like the coffee being on the table so there is no waiting around for a refill. It is clean but that is where it stops, It looks like they went to Walmarts Home and Grandma store closeout sale and said we'll take everything. There is so much country cute, that any sane person would say enough is enough. I have to admit this is almost too much for me to eat here. It will still some place I will go, but will not my go to place.

  • Briana M.

We have been here many times and always love it! I really like the eggs benedict and I am picky about my eggs benny. The pancakes are great too. The eggs are always terrific. We have tried to find another breakfast spot in town, but every time we decided that this place is better.

  • Jeff S.

I've eaten at The Good Egg that's close to the base and I think this location is at least as good as the other one. We ordered a lumberjack scramble, a vegetarian omelette, and 2 berry crepes. The food came out fast and was very tasty.

  • Agustin O.

I really like the breakfast here. Coffee isn't so bad either. Service is hit or miss but mostly good. Other than the long wait this place lace hasn't really disappointed me and those I have dined with. Lots of great healthy items and plenty of not so healthy.

  • Jennifer F.

This place is ridiculous! It is an over priced foo foo breakfast place. I am not to sure why people are soooo in love with it. I gave it 2 stars only because they had free coffee outside for those who were waiting forever... oh wait that was everyone!

  • Alex J.

Went here for lunch because my co-worker is obsessed with it. Ordered half an egg salad sandwich because with a name like "The Good Egg", you'd think they'd have that nailed. It ended being the least flavorful thing I'd ever eaten at a restaurant. Chopped up egg whites, mayo(?), and relish on untoasted wheat bread. The country potatoes were just as bland. I had to add salt to everything and I NEVER use table salt. Very reminiscent of my not-so-good cooking at home. Good for old folks (the atmosphere), they probably make an OK eggs benedict, and the to-go drinks is a generous idea. Otherwise, food needs a bit of work.

  • Katrina M.

How you can give a place bad ratings for having to wait is beyond me. That's a good thing...people actually want to eat there. We arrived at 915am and were seated promptly. We had the biscuits and gravy and the eye-opener. Both were delicious. Fresh squeezed OJ - yum. The service was great, no complaints. Only odd thing, they don't have waffles, which seems weird for a breakfast restaurant. $8.50 for biscuits and gravy and $7.50 for the eye-opener. Though the prices aren't as low as a diner, but the quality and atmosphere is nicer and worth it.

What an absolute refreshing experience to come into an establishment and actually have employees that look you in the eye and know how to make you feel welcome. The hostess, the girl I assume was a manager, the two waitresses we walked passed all said hello to us and welcomed us to the Good Egg. The quality of customer service is without a doubt the best I have experienced in a long, long time which made the rest of the meal so enjoyable. We had the Eggs benedict and the Wildcat Omelette which were fresh and delicious. The wildcat could have used more Chorizo since were in the Southwest but the rest of the flavor packed in the Omelette made up for my personal tastes. Our own pot of coffee on the table was a nice touch and the waiter came by throughout the meal to check on us. We enjoyed the meal and atmosphere and have made this our favorite breakfast location.

We were in town for new years holidays and we're looking for an awesome breakfast spot to try. Our friends highly recommended this place. So half they did! Very large portion sizes and very tasty! I like to eat a large home cooked breakfast meal, this hit the spot. I had the Eggs benedict, my girlfriend had the spinach crepes and we had a side order of blueberry pancakes. Wish they were in San Diego :)

Very extensive menu but I probably like their pancakes (and the many mix-in options) the best. A must visit when we come to Tucson (or Scottsdale).

There are a lot of healthy options and everything has the caloric valued next to it with tons of options. It's no Jerry bobs or bobos but it does offer your not so traditional dishes. service was very friendly, portions are a little small.

I generally like this place, but today the fans were freezing all the patrons, as I pointed out to the server- how many people had their jackets still on while dining- the server said she would ask the manager to turn down them down. No such luck, then my food was also cold. I didn't bother at that point., it appeared the manager had his hands full arguing with patrons at the register. Love the huge iced teas to go, but I miss the service and "happiness" level from when they opened.

The service at The Good Egg was amazing! I met a friend for breakfast after we completed our morning run. Before we even went inside the hospitality was there! Outside the door there was a water and coffee table for those waiting. Very much appreciated! The food was delicious! I ended up ordering the Veggie "X" breakfast skillet which consisted of spinach, mushroom, onion, zucchini and broccoli served over seasoned country potatoes. It was topped with two scrambled eggs and cheese. I opted to add avocado to the dish. The meal came with an English muffin. The service was amazing! Our waitress greeted us very promptly and made sure that she checked in on us very regularly. When it was time to leave she asked us both if we wanted a drink for the drive home. I will be back again!

I have eaten brunch here for the last three weekends and every experience has been good. The decor is a bit kitschy, but so are most other breakfast places. Wait has been short each time. The kids really enjoy the Micky mouse pancakes. I have had three of the five benedicts and every one has been well prepared. Service has been great. On the latest trip the kitchen mixed up my kids pancake order by putting whipped cream on the wrong one. No big deal and easily fixed, but minutes later, the manager was at the table and said that since a mistake was made the pancakes would be removed from our meal and he also provided my daughter a free side of bacon to munch on while waiting for the pancakes. THAT is great customer service. I highly recommend this location for a great breakfast/brunch experience!

This place never disappoints. I've had some of their omelettes, the eggs benedict, their California croissant and other dishes ans they have all been great. The hollandaise on the Benedicts is not overpowering as in many other places. Great kids breakfast options too. Prices are fair when comparing to other breakfast places. Service has always been exceptional. Fast and friendly. Highly recommend it ans it one of the places I will miss as I transition to California.

Great little breakfast place we stopped in North Tucson. They take great care of you, and the food is delicious. I had the Works Omelette with 6 eggs. The service was excellent, and I felt right at home. Great stop.

Solid breakfast joint. Banana Nut whole grain pancakes are great. I don't get why this place doesn't have better reviews. It's not super super special, but I'm giving it 4 stars because I can't give it 3.5 and it's rated too low otherwise. It's nice that they offer you a to go cup of coffee or soda or water when they bring the check. Better than IHOP or Village Inn. So what if its not open at 3am and doesn't have a funky indy atmosphere. They offer good breakfast when you don't want to make it yourself on the NW side of Tucson.

I'm actually surprised by some of the low comments that I'm reading here on Yelp. This Good Egg location doesn't have the great service that we've gotten at the Broadway location but the food is generally consistent. Today I had an omelette and my husband had pancakes. The plates are very generous. My omelette was good (not great) and came with the homestyle potatoes and an English muffin. The omelette was a little too salty for my taste, but it did have bacon in it and that could have been a cause. My husband had the short-stack of pancakes and could only eat about half because the pancakes are so large. Our server was friendly and came back as often as we needed her. She didn't offer a drink to go, which is the norm at The Good Egg. We got there at about 8:30 and didn't wait. We left at about 9:15 and there was a wait at that point. I heard the hostess tell a patron that the wait would be about 10 minutes. The cashier seemed a little surly. Restaurants really need to consider who they are hiring for their staff. People want to be greeted in a friendly manner, and thanked when they leave. Also, what's with charging $2.50 for coffee and $2.95 for tea? I don't get that! It's not fabulous but it's better than Village Inn or IHOP.

Great new restaurant in Oro Valley! Terrific food and extensive menu. In addition to a cheerful indoor seating area, they also have a really nice outdoor patio area. Staff were very friendly and upbeat. We have gone twice in the past week and intend to go again soon.

ENTIRELY TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE ENTIRELY TOO AVERAGE! This place is taking entirely too deep of advantage of it's once upon a time greatness. It's no where near that now, but you'd think so when you get the check! Go elsewhere!

Good food and good service. Had the Wildcat omelet and it really hit the spot. A great selection of breakfast fare. Good selection of hearty and healthy items. A good spot for breakfast.

I love The Good Egg! One of my favorite places in Tucson (and one I really miss since moving away). While there is often a wait I feel it is worth it for the quality food and service. I'm a big fan of their omelets and their bacon is truly amazing. Having moved to another state I realize how spoiled we were because there aren't many places that do it as good as The Good Egg

I was hesitant to try out The Good Egg on Oracle since I had been to another location several years ago and hated it. Nonetheless, the food was excellent and filling; it was one of the better breakfast places I've found in Tucson, and I'd definitely go back. The reason why I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5? The service. The morning we went, we were served by a waitress and a waiter-in-training. The waitress left the waiter to "test out" our table, and it was a pretty creepy experience. He was a bigger guy who literally stood two feet away from our table for an hour, unblinking, silent, watching us eat and taking plates before we could even put our forks down. I'm sure this was just a one-time thing, but it was so unnerving that it really took away from the atmosphere.

This most endearing aspect of this place is the coffee, which is quite good. This time I ordered the daily special which was called the cowboy. It is an omelet with barbacoa, guac, sour cream. I was a bit disappointed that the goodies for the omelet were just slapped on top of the omelet. Although I do like the options for these of us which limit carb intake. I was able to get fruit and cottage cheese to replace the bread. I do like this place it is better than other large breakfast establishments.

You can eat a really healthy breakfast here. Check out the "Nurses" entree. They are not open for dinner but stay open for lunch.

I like the Good Egg. I usually have a spicy burro/scramble (Hot Juan) and it's always made "right" for me: firmly scrambled with plenty of chorizo, decent salsa and warm tortillas. No need for salt, pepper, tabasco. They do a good job of taking care of kids, too, bringing a small plate of snacks before our group ordered so the kids don't go mad waiting for their order. No, it's not a cheap diner and if you're thinking Denny's or similar hash spot, you'll be disappointed. If you like piles of choices, pages and pages in fact, with a variety of flavors available, I think you'll be pretty happy here. Main issue is the wait. If you have 4 or more try calling ahead, especially around noon. By 1pm the biggest crowd is full of eggs, granola, egg salad, and cinnamon rolls and tables open up. Portions are large generally so come hungry but patient!

This is not your on-the-corner ma-n-pop restaurant; it's a local chain. If you're looking for down-home eats, go elsewhere. If you're in the mood for a Denny's or IHOP type place, go here instead. You'll find a HUGE menu, reasonable prices, good portions, and friendly servers. The older folks pack this place sometimes, but for good reason. My personal favorite is the big breakfast sandwich, made to order. Get a stamp card, 5 stamps for a free entree. Monday is double stamp day.

Still searching for a breakfast place in Tucson that I really like. The Good Egg is not it. I'm a big fan of the Le Peep chain and hoped this would be similar, but it isn't even close. I've been here twice, and I'm just not impressed. i guess it is much harder than I thought to get breakfast right - food lacked flavor. The cinnamon nut roll is giant-sized, but really not that flavorful once you get past the icing. To be fair, I've only had egg dishes, but while not awful, they were not very flavorful and I've had much better. If friends were going to meet here for brunch, I'd tag along, but I wouldn't suggest it nor choose this on my own. For a reliable breakfast, and full breakfast anytime, the Village Inn on Oracle is a better choice.

It's a chain, a local chain, industrial food. We went late morning. The place was about half full, but we waited 5-10 minutes to be seated. Food was OK. Service was OK.

First off, let me begin by stating that I like the Good Egg at the Grant location A LOT better than this one... My girlfriend and I went in for breakfast this morning (Sunday) around 10. The place was full, but no one was waiting for a table. When asked if we'd like to sit at the breakfast bar or wait 5 minutes, I deferred to my better half who chose the bar. So we sat at the breakfast bar and waited...after sitting for about 30 seconds, another couple came in and was immediately seated! "That was a quick 5 minutes..." I thought, but was relieved to see our server coming over with menus. Everything else throughout the meal was very quick and professional. Water and coffee (see below) were refilled frequently and the timing for the food and check were right on cue. On to the food...I ordered a ham and cheese skillet and my girlfriend ordered spinach crepes. Unlike the reviewer below, I had no trouble with my eggs - they arrived as ordered. After breakfast we discussed the meals and both agreed that each was oily and greasy, and didn't taste much like the healthy Good Egg breakfasts that we're accustomed to over @ the Grant location. Additionally, the coffee that was being served was some of the weakest coffee we've ever had. Good, strong coffee is a necessity, and The Good Egg is seriously lacking in this department. Overall the service was great, the interior decor was atrocious (don't get me started on the fake sunflowers and giant rooster that we were forced to stare at for an hour..), the coffee was subpar, and the food was just "okay" (although the price was right). I would give this a solid 2.5 stars, but since I am forced to choose, I'll drop it down to 2 stars because of the greasiness of the food, the decor, and the weak coffee. On a positive side though, it seems as if their service has improved. Now if they could just improve the food a bit..

The latest in a large Arizona restaurant chain located on the Northwest side of Tucson at Oracle Road and River Road. I've never been to any of The Good Egg locations until they decided to open one in my part of town. When I venture out of the neighborhood, I got to Bobo's. Let's start with the decor. Awful. The worst kind of country crap. Puffy gingham window coverings. Rooster/Hen border wallpaper and lots of sunflower border treatments everywhere. I like bright and cheery, but the outdated and old fashioned country diner is boring and non-creative in it's simplicity and predictability. It also conjures a sense of poor taste (for me) and poor taste in decor sometimes translates to the quality of food. I've been to some really bad country diners in the south, and it ain't pretty. Second, the coffee was strong - but not in a good way. I prefer strong coffee, but there was something weird about this and it didn't get any better with subsequent refills. It just tasted funky. Third, when the server first approached our table of two, he asked if we wanted coffee by saying, "How about some coffee for the two of us?" ...WHAT? "For the two of us?" Where did he fit into the "two of us" part of the equation? He then continued to address us in the "We" and "Us" sense that totally bugged me. Sorry, I don't like it when the server invites him/herself to the party. Next, I noticed that the prices seemed high. This is a country diner open for breakfast and lunch, not a fancy restaurant. But, I waited to see what the portions and presentation were about before I made my final decision. The food came and I WAS surprised. My wife's Denver omelette cost $7.95. It was a three egg omelette with ham, peppers, and onions. She said there was very little ham. The small serving of potatoes and a toasted english muffin sat separated from the eggs on a large, cold plate. No garnish. No juice on the side. Pathetic! I ordered a skillet breakfast with two medium poached eggs over potatoes, chorizo, black beans, roasted chilis, guacamole, and sour cream. The eggs were not medium, they were on the shy side of over-easy - meaning the egg whites weren't fully cooked. That ain't medium. The "roasted chilis" consisted of one half of a roasted jalapeno chili. Hmmm, weak. This was all served in one of those oven-friendly clay skillets atop a large plate. The skillet was cold, and soon after, so was my food. I ate about half and finally got tired of eating a cold breakfast. The server came around again and asked, "Are we done?," and I told him about the cold food served in cold serving dishes. He grabbed "our" plates and said "we" would talk to the manager. "We" waited for a while and nothing happened. They weren't busy. There were plenty of people standing around. My wife saw the server talking to the manager, then they both went in back. I finally got up to leave and headed for the cashier (another reason they shouldn't charge so much for their food). When we got up to the counter, the cashier and an unidentified person asked about our food. I told them what I thought and they asked if we had spoken to the manager. I said that we had not, and then I noticed that he was standing right behind us. He never said a word. I told the two people at the register, "Good luck," and we walked out without incident. The Good Egg is ROTTEN and we won't be going back. Overrated and Overpriced!

An Italian person living in St. Louis told me that his family calls nice people "good eggs." I am not sure what that has to do with Missouri or Italy, but I just thought I would throw that in there. Of course, I told them that where I live, there is a restaurant called The Good Egg. I like how The Good Egg is like a more delicious IHOP, Shoney's, Denny's, and the like. But it's not terribly inventive. I always enjoyed the flavored iced coffee, the pitchers of water at the table, the chance to take a large take-out beverage with you, and how there are health-conscious meals at The Good Egg. I've never had to wait to sit down - only to pay at the cashier. I like their burros, huevos rancheros, and other entrees with potatoes and eggs. There are more items than just oatmeal and eggs here. It's a good semi-local restaurant to take the relatives.

Have you ever been sitting at a table and felt claustrophobic? The management here must put every condiment known to man on there tables in hope that you won't notice that they lack an attentive wait staff. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. One of the worst places to eat breakfast. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The staff is slow and uneducated. The menu rivals the Bible in length. You have to be a scholar to find bacon and eggs. BACON AND SOME DAMN EGGS PEOPLE! Don't let the name fool you there is nothing good about this egg.

I keep hearing The Good Egg is good. I'm always looking for a hearty good healthy old-fashioned breakfast place. Tucson does not have this as far as I can tell. Well, here are the pro's #1 It was clean. If you are not from Tucson you may think, 'big deal' But in Tucson there is a low standard for cleanliness. Many folks associate down-to-earth-diner with dirty. I love down-to-earth. Low budget is great. But dirty is just plain unacceptable. #2 They left a pitcher of water after filling my water cup and a pitcher of hot coffee after filling my coffee cup. I love to keep the coffee cup flowing so this was a real plus. #3 They have whole wheat pancakes. The con's #1 They don't HAVE hashbrowns, no, not at all. I know right? ...a breakfast restaurant that doesn't serve hashbrowns. #2 The whole wheat pancakes are the texture of white mushy pancakes. The same as most places. Many people like this, not me. #3 The omlette was not really an omlette. It was flat. I could see the shape of shredded cheese on top. It had a really weird texture. I can only guess why. I love omlettes. I was really hungry and I took a total of two bites. Yuck. I heard the people next to me talking about how bad their food was. Then I heard them tell the waitress that it was fine. They were polite. They left almost full plates and did not get to-go boxes. I was not as polite. I told the waitress I did not like the food. It was obvious since my plate was full. She just smiled and made some disconnected polite comment. I told the cashier that my food was not good enough to eat. They took off the charge for the coffee and gave me a card for a free entree. So, I paid $10 for a cup of coffee and a peice of rye toast. Live and learn. I gave the free entree card to a cashier at another shop later in the day. Why not? I'm not going back. .

The Good Egg is consistently good. My wife and I come hear regularly and have never had a bad meal or bad service. I don't get some of the complaints about this place, at all. If you are looking for more of a down home diner or greasy spoon breakfast spot, this may not be the place for you. Try Jerry Bob's, The Egg Connection or Bobo's instead. If you are looking for a clean restaurant with a bright, cheery decor, good food, reasonable prices and courteous staff in the River/Oracle area, then you should try the Good Egg. A thermos of hot, tasty coffe is always left at the table for refills and the fresh squeezed OJ beats the heck out of the OJ concentrate you find at many of the breakfast spots some of the other reviewers are so fond of (Village Inn anyone?). One of my favorite things on the menu are the whole wheat banana nut pancakes. They are delicious! My wife and I usually share one pancake along with a single order of the breakfast sandwich, which includes two huge biscuit sandwiches with a choice of sausage/ham/bacon with egg and cheese. While the breakfast sandwich has been removed from the menu, it is still available for special order. I am also appreciative of the calorie information for each menu item, and while they are not for me, there are a variety of healthy options available.

My wife and I went to breakfast the service was very friendly. I had the farm house Benedict if was pretty good. We also had the cinnamon roll, it was large and big enough for 2. Our total bill with tip was $39 that's 2 meals and the cinnamon roll.

So a friend and I went today @ around 11:30...brunch.We went to the ORACLE RD LOCATION. I got a heart healthy frittata ...their menu description as follows =''''PLAYA DEL SOL Egg whites, imitation crab w/bay shrimp, sauteed with red bell peppers and grilled onion under melted Brie, slices of avocado and our fresh mango cantaloupe salsa. Served w/a low-carb tortilla and a cup of fruit. $8.95''''.......my Friend got two eggs over easy with ham and bacon ,potatoes....and he got the one- dollar pancake side. I ordered lemonade and he got coffee and water. Well our food arrived shortly after the drinks....My frittata was really small (like salad plate sized and barely a quarter inch thick- that is NOT a frittata ) and barely warm...I could not even see a shrimp or any immitation crab at all on it. The cheese was some sort of watered down melted stuff that did not taste like brie. The salsa , which dominated the frittata ...was very good....but this was not at all like the description above. They did put a quarter of an avocado on it though. As I ate , I eventually found - and I kid you not- fingernail sized bits of immitation crab and shrimp , there were maybe 4 pieces! ....My friends breakfast was barely warm and the ham was like thick cut sandwich meat and small...his potatoes were half cooked and they were the frozen pre-cut style. Pretty lousy. The eggs were cooked nicely. The pancakes were small in circumference , but that's what you get for a dollar. He said they were like rubber. Both plates were around $8. -$9.00 each ...LAME.....I have to say though, the waitress was very nice and attentive. We each got a 'buy five meals and get the 6th free!' cards .....um , NO! We won't be coming back.

I love the good egg! This location is fairly new and isn't as well known. But the manager is super friendly along with the rest of the staff. We are usually seated fairly quickly and get great service although sometimes we feel rushed. More importantly, the food is amazing!!! (esp the potatoes and cinnamon bun!)
