This is a great place to eat a gluten free dinner meal. Nice atmosphere, and my girls love the kids menu that can be made gluten free!

Last Friday, I was passing by on my way home and decided to stop at Pei Wei's - it has been years since the last time I ate there. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles (because of a fellow Yelp! review) and I decided to get the crab wontons and crispy potstickers since those are my favorites. Unfortunately, the potstickers and wontons did not live up to expectations. The pot stickers managed to be doughy in the middle and burned on the edges. The crab wontons were tasteless. Pei Wei's does have real crab in these ( a rarity) but it would be a lot better if they had some flavor. The best part of the meal was the Dan Dan noodles. These were wonderful! I'm so glad that I selected them. I ordered a small and it was almost too much for me. I will definitely have this again.

Used to be a manager at pei Wei so I know how stressful and crazy it can get. This location needs to get their kitchen under control. New people in there? The girls up front would ask questions or yell something back and get no response. So rude. my meal was over 20 min late - stuff happens and they mess up, I get it. The gal up front brought my to go order out to me and said she comped it! She was the one who shined and had great customer service. Despite the kitchen ignoring them, I might be back because they have good people up front.

This is the mini version of PF Changs. You can call in your order or order online. It usually only takes them 15 minutes to have your order ready. They always get my order correct and the food is great.

Pei Wei spicy shrimp, recommend taking home and eating day after :) MMMMMM

At the end of the day, do you ever just sit back and say "Let's have Pei Wei"? Because I do! I know, not Chinese or any of the other cultures that are mentioned. But you know, sometimes you just want comfort fake-Asian food! I really like the Dan-Dan noodles, with extra spice. My husband likes beef and broccoli. Coconut curry is also a favorite. Some other factors to consider: You can order on line and it will be ready by the time you get there. They have special parking and a nice waiting area for take-out. Consistently good service. And have you seen that soda machine?!

Teriyaki beef bowl was terrible. Like shoe leather, no sauce, no flavor, bland. The rice tasted like plastic. Best part of the meal was the lettuce wrap and fortune cookie.

For a chain, I really love Pei Wei. Chinese? Meh...Regardless, their food is consistently good regardless of what you get. Our favorite is the Dan Dan Noodles. The service is friendly and fast and the food is decently priced. Not too terribly fond of this location, or many of them I guess, since they try to pack you in as close to your neighbor as possible. You can't even pull the chairs out on the patio in order to sit because the person behind you is too close. My suggestion...take out!!!

This was a great lunchtime surprise! I wasn't expecting the level of fresh and flavorful food from a corner chain on Oracle, but that's what I found at Pei Wei. Since moving to Tucson from the northwest, I've found that teriyaki shops are almost non-existent here. Pei Wei comes very close to this tradition with tangy Asian sauces, generous rice bowls, and vegetables so fresh I scarcely believed my tastebuds (the pea pods are CRUNCHING!!). My favorite is the vegetarian rice bowl, which includes a ginormous helping of said fresh and crunchy vegetables, plus grilled and sauced tofu better than most I've ever had. Pei Wei has managed to cultivate flavor and texture from the tofu without relying on a deep-fry batter, which is unique and worth note. The interior is like the most Zen cafeteria you can imagine. It's not a fine dining place, but it's definitely nice enough to have a quiet lunch hour and read with your meal without feeling like you're cramped or in an unpleasant space. One star deducted for the complete and utter lack of sriracha sauce available. This, my friends, is a teriyaki crime.

My first time at Pei Wei...visited the Ina/Oracle location at approximately 6pm...on a Tuesday. I entered, and was immediately stricken with the feeling all the food on the planet instantaneously evaporated into thin air....except that which Pei Wei had in their building. There wasn't room to think, let alone order. That is not a bad thing at all. Told me that people WANT to be there and WANT to deal with that mayhem and that the FOOD was WORTH any issues at all. I ordered to go. On to the food...Veruca had the Thai Dynomite with brown rice, her fav kiddo had the sweet and sour chicken with noodles, and I was talked into trying the Sriracha Beef...maybe it was more like yelling though...the place is loud and happening...in a good way. Veruca also had a side of hot and sour soup...which she enjoyed, but forgot there was chicken in there, and she has Alektorophobia...so she ate around the chicken and I cleaned up the bowl. Veruca enjoyed my dish more than I did, and I hers, but they were both really good. The Sriracha beef was indeed spicey....and in the presence of a lady...I prefer not to sweat like a pro cyclist at a steroids hearing, so I ate more of hers than mine. Both dishes were tasty, and the sweet and sour chicken Veruca's kid had was gone...every morsel. Can't wait to go again!

Better than average American Asian food with a flair in upscale surroundings. Too expensive, but I could live with that if the food was better. My biggest beef (pun intended) is that the vegetable dishes are dominated by carrots. Cheap sweet veg instead of the expected assortment of veg described. "Oh, we didn't tell you that you only get ONE mushroom and the rest are carrots?" I do like the brown rice, which is a rare find. It is cooked perfectly as are all their dishes.

Im not that biig on oriental foods. Dan dan noodles are great, but i like to ask for them mild. I love the fresh cucumber on top, and the whole dish is bursting with flavor. I also suggest fried rice and lettuce wraps. The foood comes out quick , and i love that you can see the kitchen. Overall pei wei i s quick and yummy, but only i only cone for soda and dan dan noodles.

Needed a healthy, but super fast lunch to take-away to bring back to resort. Was located in a easy access plaza, simple to get in and out in a hurry. All 4 orders were prepared as indicated and the whole lunch was packed properly, including adding all utensils & suaces (important, esp. if u r not home). No line-up, and ready exactly when the estimated time was given of about 10 mins.

I happen to love this place. Great food, (taste just like Changs) and reasonable prices. Also the staff is friendly and it's a chill atmosphere.

2 adults, Friday nite, about 7:45 pm, fairly busy, tried the new crunchy appetizers, tasted ok, yet the crunch wasn't there, more like soggy, not sure would order again, rest of the meal good as usual, yet the amount of beef and brocolli seemed much smaller than other times I have been here.

Great apps, offer small plate sizes in some of their meals, and have those great Coke machines. Favorite are the Crab Wontons!

We've been fans for years but it's been a while since we've been in so I stopped for lunch with my kids this weekend. You need to go and check out their soda machine! It's very Jetson-esque! Maybe I've been living under a rock but I've never seen anything like it. It's touch screen...so say you pick Sprite....then all the flavors of Sprite come up (cherry, orange, grape, etc.. ), then you select your final flavor then push the big button to dispense. It's really cool!!! It also dispenses still and sparkling water. As far as the food, it's consistent, quick, and good!

Who can say no?! Well, maybe after you eat here over and over and over...like I did a couple years ago because I couldn't get enough. It's been a while since I've been back and I quickly remembered why I ate here for many, many meals. The dishes are flavorful and they can modify most, if not all, dishes to be veggie friendly. I enjoy the choice of brown or white rice. The portion sizes are generous and I encourage you to share. This must be a popular place since most tables were taken indoors. When it warms up, the patio makes for a nice alternative. They make your experience as efficient as possible (like most everything you need at your table already) and you don't wait long for your entree. I appreciate the casual atmosphere, yet still keeping the nice restaurant feel. Thanks, Pei Wei!

Geez! I dont know why i said yes, but you cant judge a book by its covered, right? Everytime I pass a Pei Wei, I think american chinese food, gag. And after a few friends telling me its not so bad, I thought I'd give it a try. Boy, was I right! Just like that other Chinese fast food place with a big fuzzy animal as their logo, it tasted nothing like asian food. You cant throw pineapple in a dish and call it hawaiian, cant cant throw orange in a dish and call it mandarin. I got the Thai chicken, and there was nothing Thai about it. Kinda sweet but not at all spicy. To top it all off, the rice was so hard, like minute rice that didnt have enough water.

When I go to an Asian restaurant, I always like to practice my chop stick skills. You never know when someone is going to pick you up and then drop you off somewhere in China. I want to be prepared. We started with the lettuce wraps. I love the lettuce wraps. Cool crisp lettuce filled with a filling that is basically salt. I got the Dan Dan noodles. Asian noodles with a sweet slightly spicy minced chicken sauce with sprouts and cucumbers.

I'm a fan of the chicken lettuce roll things. I like their iced tea. Service, ambience, - it's all good. My only issue with this pei wei is the parking lot - or really the street corner it's on. Difficult if you're trying to head north on Oracle. That's really just a personal issue/pet prevent of mine. The place is consistently good. I like it.

I love pei Wei I usually only eat there with the my kid.but today he was in school.so I called it an order to pick up to take him to school. it was messed up they offered to remake it but I was running late already. So as I'm running out the door I believe the manager hands me a little gift card to come back! Seriously so thoughtful

The food was excellent. There were 3 in our party. We each got our food 30 minutes apart. That was not the best way to enjoy our meal. So the last food came out over an hour after we ordered. This made it a terrible time. The manager gave us coupons for 3 free sides...... really?

This location does a great job. The manager came over and asked how things were. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and it was a little cold, and when the manager came over, he quickly brought out another for free.. i would visit here again.

Lunchtime at high noon, and one person running the cash register for dine in and carry out. Very sloooow. Food was hot and tasty, although the lettuce for the chicken lettuce wraps was in small pieces. Hard to wrap anything in a one inch bit of lettuce.

My favorite dishes are the Pad Thai and Kung Pao Chicken. I'm very disappointed with the menu change, they are trying to be more "healthy" but you used to be able to get 6 egg rolls for $7 and now it's 4 egg rolls for slightly more expensive (I may have the numbers wrong) and they are always dripping in oil now, too.

So Good! I am a bit picky and custom order some of my entrees, this Pei Wei has always gotten my request down right perfect. However, during rush times, the food sometimes does seem a bit rushed and just thrown on to the plate. Nonetheless, everything I've eaten at this location tastes excellent.

We ordered a chicken teriyaki wok, a chicken chopped salad, wonton soup, and wasabi crunch roll. Wok and sushi good, but had a couple issues with the salad and soup. Salad was missing chicken, crispy wontons, napa cabbage, and Thai basil. It was just lettuce, tomatoes and carrots. The soup was missing basil and lemon grass. It was almost all broth, 4 wontons, a few pieces of scallions, and a few leaves of spinach. One of the girls at the take out, blonde hair no glasses, was rude. She said we had the additional spicy tuna roll, I replied we ordered the wasabi crunch roll. Her response, " they're the same thing." It being our first, and now last visit, how was I supposed to know that? The brunette with glasses was really nice and helped us place our orders very well. The wok was really good. For good food stick to the woks and sushi, just hope you're server isn't snarky.

This place isn't bad for a casual Asian food. A bit higher quality than Panda Express, but not quite like PF Chang's. Their food is nice and fresh. But I prefer my Chinese food with some more punch and flavor.

  • QueenoftheDesert O.

This particular PW is not up to standards, though I think the standards all around for PW have been lowered and their prices raised. IMHO, Panda Express has much better quality of ingredients used and much better flavors in their dishes. I recently had the sesame chicken at PW and the chicken had more gristle than acceptable, especially for the price. I think PW is overpriced and staffed with young cooks who are just following the cookie cutter recipes, and maybe not properly. Both my mother's and my dishes were over salted, the noodles cold, and my brown rice tasted stale and not cooked well. You pay for the atmosphere, though quite noisy if crowded, but I would rather get take out from Panda Express, buy a good bottle of wine or asian beer, and have a picnic or eat in the comfort of home. My days of eating at Pei Wei are over. When they first started up, it was much better, as is the case with many restaurants, sadly enough.

Went here tonight with a friend after hearing from others that I should try it out. The pros are that the hot and sour soup was delicious and there are chop sticks at the table. They have some tasty iced tea flavors as well. The cons were the price and the lame fortune cookies. My entree was not nearly big enough for the charge. I've also never seen such horrible fortune cookies in my life, seriously.

The prices here are so affordable and the quality is pretty darn good! Chicken chop salad is always fresh and they put a lot of beef in the Mangolian beef dish. Niiice!

I h eard all sorts of rave reviews of this place and I've been there twice now and each time its been consistently okay. Nothing great mind you, but pretty good and I especially like the tofu. Had the Pad Thai and one other dish the 2nd time. I forgot what it was... that memorable I guess. Service is good, fast, and prices are great and the place is very clean and has a nice atmosphere.

It is really funny because I have had way better asian food, but I love pei wei. I like to go for lunch a lot and get the pei wei spicy chicken salad, but with veggies instead of chicken. The workers here are really knowledgable and were quick to let us know that the sauce that comes on the salad has chicken stock, so we could replace the sauce with something else, we use the Thai dynamite sauce and it is delicious. The new ginger-orange edamame is really good too. I enjoy being able to sit outside.

Went for lunch today and between my wife and I we had 3 dishes. Two were salads, spicy chicken and the Thai noodle and both were so over dressed and vinegary that we could not finish either. the other dish was lo mien with shrimp and the it had a lot of nice , not over cooked shrimp but was overdressed also with to much oil. The great think about asian dishes is the simplicity of ingredients that not overly messed with. When you drown everything in sauces you just ruin it. Sorry won't be back for a long time.

In the classification of Chinese fast-food, and without ever having eaten at Pei Wei, I was impressed. And jokingly, I have to find a place like this in Tucson, six hours from home!? After seeing a client in Del Mar, CA, near the racetrack... (it was actually a church!)... we left Solano Beach about 130p, and drove straight to Tucson, via highway 8, and didn't arrive into the Tucson area until 830pm. Staying on the North end of town, we took Ina Road toward the hotel, and stopped when we saw a Chipotle. The kicker was that Pei Wei is in the same building, right next door. We bought one item at Chipotle, and I opted for Pei Wei. I'm really glad I did. I ordered their "signature or special entree item", which turned out to be my favorite Asian food; wide rice noodles, pan fried with meat or chicken and Chinese broccoli and whatever other veggies are around. It was, for fast food, very good. I can say that now, because other than being a little thirsty after, I had no side effects from "preservative overload." I don't know if there are Pei Wei locations in SoCal, but after I check their website, I'll find out. And if so, I'm going to target them as reliable, above average, Asian food stops for lunches. (A local yelp friend shared that yes, they have a location in Lake Forest, only minutes from our home.)

I am a big fan indeed! I love noodles and rice so this place just tickles my fancy every time I go in. My two biggest delights are the lo mein with chicken and the orange peel chicken (they used to offer scallops for a premium but they did away with them-too bad). However, a few days ago I went in to keep my granddaughter company and I ordered potstickers which I sent back. Who ever heard of deep frying them? Ugh! They should be steamed or pan fried, never deep fried (as in batter!) I had no trouble at all getting a refund but was surprised that the manager never asked what the problem was. Ah, well, I don't plan to order them again anyway. The food is consistently good, fresh and served up promptly and hot (where applicable) and the prices are moderate.

Basically like every other Pei Wei in the country. But this location does have a great view of the mountains if you eat on the patio. Always great, fast service, and very consistent dishes. It will get 5 stars if and when it gets the fancy coke machine that the Pei Wei has in Phoenix.

I eat at this Pei Wei on Oracle and Ina behind the Whole Foods, and the Einstein/Starbucks and next to the Chipolte every month or so. It is always busy with the 9-5 business crowd at lunch and staffed to keep things moving. You can't really go wrong here, the menu is a subset of P.F. Changs popular lunch dishes and the food is always fast and fresh.

Cruised down to Mexico and back today: decided to get Chinese food to take to friends' home. Pei Wei has a separate counter for their "Take Away" business. Friendly staff; very busy (must be popular), somewhat upscale restaurant. You order before you are seated and they bring food to your table. As I wrote we took two dishes home: Kung Pao with chicken: Very good. Spicy Noodles based on Thai spices: Excellent. They have some parking spots reserved for people their for take out.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
