My meal was excellent. I got the early bird package deal - $ 15 for a salad of my choice and main entree. I am very picky about steaks. This was an excellent cut of meat and cooked to perfection with a wonderful hint of woodsmoke flavor. The waitresses were great. The guy waiter in the bar area was a pompous jerk. Ugh. We contacted the manager about an grace period for the early bird ...... he said yes. The waiter lied and said he talked to the manager and it was a NO. So we had to contact the manager again and prove he lied .... Fresh bread comes with your meal. Tasty - made fresh there. I wanted to try a desert but I cannot eat a whole one alone. This was great for groups. They have outdoor seating. Impressive place to go on a date. Enjoy!

Our server Ryan did an outstanding job and took great care of us, specially considering we had a big group (11) We came here around 11:30am for a celebration on a busy day, we did not have reservations because it was a last minute choice (by the person we were celebrating) and I was not familiar with this place. They were able to accommodate us and we had a good meal. I had the ribeye with sweet potato fries. Others had the meatloaf, filet, club sandwich, etc and as far as I know everyone was pleased with the food. The only matter was that when I mentioned to our hostess that we had a big group, she had to check with the manager, and he came and said to me something like "we can sit you if you are out of here by 1pm"... well, we appreciate the effort but for a place like this I would think they could convey the same message in a more diplomatic/friendly way...

Came here for dinner last night. Made reservations for 8 PM and we were seated shortly after. All of the guests in our party went with a steak dish. I opted for the 7 oz. bacon wrapped filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes. For a beverage I went with the pomegranate sunrise martini and it was absolutely delish. After our meals arrived I anxiously dug in for my first bite. I was a bit disappointed as I had asked for my steak cooked medium well and it was more on the well done side (no pink at all, bummer). Next time I will order it medium. Quality and taste of the steak was delicious. The kids Mac and cheese was also a hit! Overall great food and excellent service. Would come back again no doubt.

Meal in order of arrival: Cucumber Martini...Ranch Rings...Cilantro Chicken...Big Daddy Chocolate Cake. When I tell you, by far the best meal I've had during my business visits to Tucson, I mean it! Absolutely a must have and I will absolutely be back again! p.s: Awesome Ranch Dressing!!

Went here the other day and had a delightful dinner. I had the coconut shrimp and was pleasantly surprised at the number of shrimp I received. Our waiter was attentive and the pineapple martini I had was delicious.

We'll stand by what we've written before about Firebirds--Tucson, however this time we'll make mention of a new "trend" to the food. Old news: The quality of their product is excellent. No question here. We were extreme regulars for years until about a year ago. The fish dishes, meats, hamburgers, desserts, and drinks are all top-notch! Service was always excellent. Rarely did a dish come out that was not prepared perfectly or near-perfectly. We brought friends and my customers to FB's. We referred a ton of people here as well. New news...for the last 1.5-years we've often been served dishes that were not prepared correctly. This seems to go in "trends". 3 excellent months (like the old days)...then 3 bad months. And at times we feel that FB's has made US out to be the bad guys if we complain...though they have eyes and can see the food themselves. This has cut down on our attendance greatly. We just don't know what to expect if we go in. The latest details on this: 4 visits ago: Ordered fish and burger (rare). Burger came out black on the outside...medium-well inside. The bartender noticed this as it was served and left. I just ate the thing. The manager came buy and said he had a new one on. I told him it's not necessary and that I'll eat this one (because we don't want to complain). 3 visits ago: Becky decider to splurge and go off her diet. With FB's having the best burgers in AZ we decided to order two burg's at the bar. Rare...both came out black on the outside and medium-well inside. We ate them. Didn't complain. Beck was very disappointed she "wasted" her calories on the burger. 2 visits ago: Ordered fish and burger, rare. Came out black on the outside and medium-well on the inside. Again...over cooked and dry as a bone. Didn't complain. Last visit, last week: Ordered fish and a burger, rare. Came out black on the outside but this time is was easily well done. I just couldn't stomach it. I complained and told both bartenders it was my 4th bad one in a row and that we'd not be back. So it was taken off the bill...but never did either of the managers on duty ever stop by to see us. And I wanted that this time because I complained. I wanted them to SEE THEMSELVES that the burger was a hockey puck and not MY fault. I mentioned this to one of the managers on our way out. He just said sorry and that he was busy...then he walked away to seat others. So we went next door to North for a beer before heading home for me to eat...they asked how dinner was...I told them...they told us to sit down for just a minute, so they sat us down ASAP despite them having a 45-min wait...then brought me a rare burger 5-minutes later and on the house. We are just bamboozled that burgers ordered rare leave the kitchen and get served blackened on the outside in the first place. It's obvious to everyone they are way way over cooked. When they serve food that is obvious to the human eye that it's incorrect it puts the burden on us, the customer to complain and we're tired of it. This never happened in the "Rory Days". We'll be back for fish, chicken strips, and a few other things. But we won't be back for burgers. That means far less visits again still. That makes us extremely unhappy as FB's food is so amazingly excellent. We can't live on Italian alone when we eat out 6.7 days/week all year.

My son-in-law selected this place for all the "boys" to go before he and my daughter married. The service here was excellent. They were set up to handle our large group and did well and taking care of the group. I enjoyed being here. I liked the atmosphere. I had the Durango Burger: DURANGO BURGER* Chile spiced, pepper jack cheese, pickles, fried onions, roasted garlic ranch dressing It was not too spicy. It was messy (other meals were not messy, but this one was), but it was a very good tasting burger. Yes, it is a chain. I imagine there are a number of Tuscon people who do not like the idea of a chain being in their town. But, this one did it's job well. I had fun and would go again.

NO......just.....NO! The place looked like a ski lodge only w worse food. Service was great (as it tends to be in fancy chain restaurants) and that's why I gave one star. The tortilla soup was so thick you could stand your fork up in it. The ribs had the flavor of artificial flavoring and were most likely boil-in-the-bag. I don't even remember what I had but I believe it to have been some sort of sandwich. Who cares. Please leave or city. You and your bullshit cookie-cutter types are not what Tucson's dining scene is about. The shame of La Encatada.

The French dip was good, but it wasn't exciting. At a place like that I was expecting something interesting in my food. Please try to do something I couldn't do in my own kitchen, Firebirds. Service was great. The restaurant was nice and clean.

First time at this restaurant! We started with happy hour drinks, the Double diamond Martini was awesome!! Will be back for more of those. Dinner was wonderful! I had the bacon wrapped blue cheese filet and the black bean soup, yum yum. Our server Samantha was wonderful. Firebirds has some new fans!!!

Pro's: + you can make reservations online (they have a link on their homepage) + we brought one more person than I originally made the reservation for and they were very uncomplicated about it (just added another chair to the table) + I love the architecture and atmosphere of the restaurant. It is hard to describe the layout. Most of the tables are in the center of the room (very high ceiling) and are surrounded by a rail; the area where the tables are is sunk into the floor a bit, so lower than the rest of the floor. + The staff was very friendly and polite + all our food arrived at the same time + They let us sample some of the cocktails to help us decide which one to order + The food was tasty Depends: + I found the dining area of the restaurant to be unusually warm. I personally like that (I get too cold when the rooms are super air conditioned). But for some folks it might be a bit too warm. Con's: + They messed up our steak orders a little. One of us ordered her steak medium to well-done and it came out medium-rare. One of us ordered her steak medium-rare and it came out medium to well-done. One of us ordered her steak rare and it came out medium. That's why I only gave four stars.

The location is ideal and it is flanked by some pretty good restaurants - RA Sushi, North, Blanco - so although I did not personally select this restaurant, I thought it might hold promise. We had the wood plank salmon and pork baby back ribs. They were happy to replace the mashed potatoes with a house salad, which I appreciated. However, neither entree was inspired. Salads and coconut shrimp app were ok. The tortilla slaw accompanying the shrimp was unique and tasty, but other than that, it was just quite average. It was ok...environment and food reminded me of an 'updated' Black Angus steakhouse. I agree with other Yelpers...it is an older crowd...and in hindsight I'm guessing this place appeals more to certain subset of retirees in the area. Our server was very nice and probably the best part of the visit. He was right there with beverages and timed our food nicely. The bar area looked lively but definitely looked like it was all for the 'family visiting the retired parents' crowd. For $90 (incl tip and no booze), I'd choose any of the other restaurants nearby.

Upscale national chain in La Encatata. Facility is like a mountain lodge. Similar to Sullivan's. Menu heavy on beef. Meal was not bad. Filet migon and shrimp for me. Mahi Mahi Veracruz for her. A birthday coupon got us in there. Decent wine selection. However, no local crafts on tap. No info available on local sourcing. While an ok experience, I'd much rather spend my dining out dollars on locally owned farm to table type businesses.

Really disappointing lunch My friends enjoyed their meal but don't order the chicken in a salad. I had the Colorado chicken salad. The meat was tough and dry. Like it had been precooked and re heated and it wasn't very warm like fresh grilled would be. The salad was good in itself. I sent it back and they re ordered. The second one essentially was the same. And they weren't even very busy They did comp me the meal but I doubt I will be back.

we were craving meat so this place fit the bill perfectly. The servers are really nice and attentive, my husband's steak was overcooked and when he told our server he apologized and changed it for a new perfect one , the manager came by our table and also apologized and said his meal was on the house. That is a good service! The flourless chocolate cake is decadent!

We came here very high expectations and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Lobster Queso and the Crab Cakes for starters and I would highly recommend both. The entrees came out, after a bit longer of a wait than it should had been, and the portion sizes were quite large. Some people at our table were unable to finish their meal. We did not leave room for dessert but wish we had. For being a nice steakhouse the attire is very casual. Many people were just in shorts and t-shirts which is a nice change of pace. The two downfalls are 1: If you are unfamiliar to the area this place can be difficult to find and 2: we waited for an additional 15 minutes after our appetizers were DONE for our entrees to arrive.

This restaurant isn't unique or special in any way, and it's a chain, but I'm still giving it five stars because I never have a bad experience there. The service is always attentive and friendly. If they are busy, the servers ALWAYS let you know or check in to say your drinks will be up in a minute. The decor is fabulous - not cramped, but still intimate enough for a romantic dinner. They have a great drink selection and good happy hour options. The bartenders are all excellent and super friendly. You can't go wrong with the food. You have to get the lobster queso dip as a starter if you eat seafood. It is out of this world! Let me just say that I get the chicken tortilla soup about every time I go there. It is AMAZING! The salads are also incredible. My husband and I are fanatics about the BLT salad, and I don't even typically like tomatoes. You get a side of bread with your food, too - always served warm with butter. All of the sandwiches get an A+ - not overloaded but still flavorful and delicious. The steaks are to die for! I've tried several other steakhouses in Tucson but always come back here because of the quality and more friendly prices. (It's not cheap, it's just not over-the-top expensive like Sullivan's, for example). Great atmosphere for a date night or a nicer family dinner. I brought my parents here when they visited and my dad said it was the best steak he'd ever had at a restaurant. And my dad is the pickiest eater I know. Good job, Firebirds! My one gripe - I ordered a filet medallions sampler from the specials menu one time, and they were served with a gross teriyaki sauce. Would not order again. Just stick to the main menu and forgo the specials. You can't go wrong!

It is simple. Great service and good food. Someone had sesame crusted salmon with fried spinach. Enjoyed. Aged prime rib steak with fully loaded potato...very good. Solid and simple. Creme brûlée cheese cake...good! Had not been here in a few years. Enjoyed it it this time around!

This place was yummy!! We had wings which had this awesome smokey flavor.. I then had the largest shrimp salad ever. Fresh, flavorful, and not over dressed. The brought a hot towel after the wings to clean our hands. NICE touch. My husband had the ribs which had really awesome flavor as well. Once again they brought him a hot towel to clean his hands after. You dont see that many place anymore. The service was on point and he was attentive without being obtrusive. He also met us at the door as we were leaving, held the door, and thanked us for coming in. Great experience. We will totally be back.

Second time here. Was very busy. Must have reservations. Got seated 10 minutes after we arrived. Service was very good. We waited a hour to be served. Food was very good. I had the salad with fried chicken, and ate the whole thing! We were pleasantly surprised when the bill was reduced to reflect the long wait. We'll be back.

Delicious prime rib.. But expensive! My husband and I came here for Memorial Day. They had a deal going on where it was BOGO for military. We ordered some drinks, a corona for the man and the signature black diamond martini for me. The corona came with a cold glass which I thought was nice. The black diamond was AMAzing. 21-day infused vodka with pineapple with muddled pineapple and a pineapple slice on the rim. If they sold their vodka, I would buy it. It was so delicious. My husband doesn't even like cocktails and he said this was some of the best tasting vodka he's ever had. Like I stated, the prime rib was great. Comes with au jus and some creamy horse radish. We both chose the loaded potato for our side which was also delicious. They serve some delicious warm bread for an appetizer too which we asked to take a loaf home. No problem! We ate it as soon as we got home, it's so good. The prime rib was actually a little too fatty for my liking and the fat didn't really melt in my mouth either. But there was enough meat to make it worth $25. Which comes to the bill.. With tip and the free entrée. 2 drinks and one prime rib dinner still came out to $50! We tipped the waiter $8 though because he was excellent and very attentive and we also felt bad because this other table chewed him out for no reason. He kept apologizing to us after that for little things that were unnecessary. You could tell he's trying his best. So all in all, a little over 40 bucks for one person is still expensive in my book. I still recommend you come though for a special evening. We came here before I discovered Yelp for Valentine's Day last year and had the delicious balsamic kabobs that were very tender. Great place, but be prepared to spend. So make it special ;)

They have the food and service on lockdown. Every item on their menu sounded amazing. Took forever to decide. Everything we tried was amazing. Our server, Isaac was familiar with every product and made good recommendations based on what we were looking for. We were never rushed but when we did order, food came out promptly. They have a decent wine list too which was surprisingly reasonable. I could eat there every day.

The filet mignon is the best! The mashed potatoes that go with it, so amazing! If I could I would have this for dinner every night.

We started with the lobster-spinach queso. Good, but nothing to write home about. I read a negative review about the Colorado chicken salad (Wood grilled chicken, mixed greens, bleu cheese, sugar roasted pecans, dried cranberries, green apple, raspberry chipotle vinaigrette ) decided to try it to form my own opinion and it has turned into one of the best salads I've ever had. Sweet and tart. The Green Chile Mac and cheese we found bland.

  • Jinny H.

I gave this place three stars because there are other restaurants with the same price range that have much better food, such as vivace or tavolino. The food is alright, as with the atmosphere. The pepper steak I had was comparable to a upscale version of Applebee's, so I wasn't much impressed, but the mashed potatoes and the sweet potato fries were amazing. I would recommend this place for business dinners (especially great because people could go to frost or north afterwards), but for those looking for great, high quality food, I would honestly go elsewhere.

Did someone say Happy Hour? Yes, I did! From 4pm to 6:30pm you can get $5 Double Black Diamond Martini, $8 "Pig in a Blanket", $8 warm pretzels with beer cheese....Oh so good. I unfortunately have not dined here for a lunch or dinner, but happy hour is worth it. The Black Diamond is fresh pineapple infused with Svedka Citron Vodka. This is dangerous, the hint of sweetness takes away from any bitter taste a martini may have normally. Pomegranate Sunrise is nice and sweet as well. This drink will have a sour kick to it. The only thing I would not recommend is the sliders, not impressed with the sliders. Kobe Meatballs are okay, they remind me of a Swedish meatball TV dinner. So sorry.

The bf and I have been in Tucson for less than one year and have been to a number of Tucson restaurants, but we missed Firebirds until now. Since it's Restaurant Week, we thought it'd be a good opportunity to check out this mall restaurant. And well, the food tasted fine. Spicy shrimp (a bit rubbery, but okay), lots of spicy sauce and lvery tender tenderloin medallions, good BLT salad, and the finish was a nice and dense flourless chocolate cake. A lot of food for $30! But. But [pun intentional] the next morning the bf and I both had the runs. Bad. I noticed my bf's tummy was making strange noises after dinner, but it wasn't until the next morning that we realized that something is up with the food here. Will we be back? No way.

Simply excellent! The steaks are perfect, the salads are delicious, and they serve the best Arnold Palmer I've had in years. Don't miss it!

First big flag I should've noticed would've been the crowd that was there when we went Sunday night for my bday with my gf. I'd say about 90% were over 60+ we had high expectations for this high rated yelp restaurant but we were shot down on every item they brought out. I ordered the red sangria which wasn't bad and she had the mango mojito when it came out tasted like water w a splash of vodka. then the server forgot our lobster queso which we had to remind him and came after the entrees. I wanted the prime rib but of course was unavailable so I ordered the $24 baby back and my gf ordered filet mignon medium rare. my ribs were burnt to a crisp and in the middle all I could taste was char and only took a couple bites. gfs filet mignon came burnt on the outside and rare on the inside, you could see the gristle on the plate. server was nice enough to take the ribs off which I'm guessing happens a lot. this restaurant is hands down the most misreviewed place in Catalina foothills. I highly recommended not to go here unless you don't have any taste buds. best items were water and the complimentary bread.

Me and my boyfriend LOVE it here!!! We go here often and are always happy with the place. We can be picky on our salads but the servers always do a great job with what we want and always get it right. It a very reasonable priced place and We tell everyone to go here!! or drag them along when we want to go out to eat!!

We ordered the wood fire grilled salmon and the butcher's sirloin with a side of port mushrooms and went half and half with the meats. The salmon was delicious just as expected, nice crispy outside and juicy inside. The sirloin was overlooked, we ordered medium rare-rare and got more of a medium well. So it was tougher than we would have liked. The thing that just blew me over were the port mushrooms, it's a flavor explosion in every bite. So tasty. We had the creme brûlée cheesecake (that we got free as a result of a piece I'm of plastic wrap in my potatoes) and it was very refreshing, just the right amount of sweet. Overall a good experience, just wish the sirloin had been cooked correctly.

Well, if you have been to other Firebird's locations then you know what to expect. This one is not any different. Same great menu and service. Yes, I know its a chain and with so many great indie places in Tucson, why eat here? Well, let me tell you this place has one thing going for them: mass appeal. Everyone that we bring to Firebirds ends up loving it. They have a bunch of steak options but still aren't quite a steakhouse because they do seafood, pork, and chicken really well, too. Maybe a little lite on the vegetarian options but they have some really tasty hearty salads. They have a great kids menu... no nuggets and fries here - they offer real food in smaller portions and price it accordingly. And a full bar with some reasonably priced wines by the glass and a few microbrews on tap. And the décor and ambiance work well for both a date night or family dinner. Of course the best part is the lobster queso. Order it as an appetizer to share and you'll thank me later!!

Best place in town for prime rib! It is so perfectly seasoned and the side dishes are amazing! The service here is always great, it may be a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for, a fabulous meal!

We have been to Firebird before and decided to try it for lunch. We arrived and were seated promptly. Our server was very friendly. I decided to order the Turkey Club Sandwich with a side of fruit. My lunch companion ordered the Fish Tacos. The restaurant was not busy, yet it took over 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. When it arrived, we were underwhelmed. My club sandwich was tasteless. The turkey was deli turkey---not something you would expect for a $11 sandwich. The side of fruit was a joke. 8 grapes and a few pieces of mushy melon. An absolute disappointment. My lunch companions Fish Tacos were nothing special----in fact, he didn't finish them because he said he didn't want to "waste the calories" on them. Additionally, the restaurant was VERY COLD----to the point that it was uncomfortable. As we left, the hostess was at the entrance and didn't even acknowledge us---you know the "have a nice day" type of comment.. We won't be back.

Great food! Excellent service! The manager checked on us. My BLT salad was already dressed and tossed. My steak was perfectly prepared. Maggie makes a great martini!

My favorite drink is the Double Black Diamond that I get here - house made pineapple infused vodka served in a martini glass. It tastes like pure heaven, I mean pineapple juice but it is pure vodka. Watch out as they will sneak up on you! We like to come here and sit on the patio and people watch while we drink DBD's. For a chain restaurant, the food is really good. This is my favorite place for a bacon wrapped filet, this one is topped with blue cheese and sautéed mushrooms. YUM! The wings are really good - crispy with a smoky flavor. Other items we have had that we really like are: onion rings, lobster spinach queso, and coconut shrimp. You MUST try the chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce!!! OMG! I want to lick the plate clean to get every bit of that delish salted caramel sauce.

Out first time here and we were not disappointed. We came in at a late hour on a Friday night. We had no problems getting seating immediately. Our server, Robin, was great. We ordered an ice tea and a lemonade and never once did we have to ask for a refill as Robin was at our table before our glasses were empty. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband also ordered a filet mignon with shrimp. Our steaks were amazing - cooked to perfection. We also ordered as our side the baked potato, his loaded, mine with only butter. Our only complaint is that the baked potatoes were way too salty on the outside and we couldn't enjoy the skin. Overall, the food was amazing and the service was top notch. We will definitely add this location to the rotation of restaurants for our Friday Date Nights. You won't be disappointed. $ - It is a little pricey. Our total tab was $83 for an appetizer, two entrees, one dessert and two non-alcoholic beverages.

This is still my favorite restaurant in Tucson. We came here for my birthday. Regrettably, they messed up on two of our orders. The manager and assistant manager came by and apologized. They gave us a free pumpkin cheesecake. This was despite the fact that we said we didn't want any compensation. We simply wanted to inform them of the hiccups. They also took off the meals that weren't good. If you haven't tried this place....you're missing out. Great service. Great food. Great company.

I always get the prime rib and have them finish it on the grill. I tried the lobster spinach queso as an appetizer and that was pretty descent. The glass for my rootbeer was nice and frosty and they even offered us a free dessert for our special date. The food was pretty good overall but the service was what i enjoyed the most here. Our server Abby was so nice and courteous that it just made the night that much more enjoyable.

We brought a group of 15 to Firebirds last night for my husband's birthday. We has two servers working our table, both were very attentive and Amanda was super personable, not at all frazzled or trying to rush through service. They allowed the option of ordering the restaurant week menu, and also extended the filet mignon special I'd received via email to the whole table. All in all, super accommodating! The food was solid, though the accuracy of temps on the steaks was mixed. I can forgive a little due to the size of the group, and all was made right. Plus, the birthday boy's old fashioneds were spot on! Thanks for a great night.

These guys hit it out of the ballpark last night. We started off sitting at the bar while waiting for a table. I ordered the Double Black Diamond Martini for the first time. It's a pineapple infused vodka martini (infusion done in house). I slurped it down like it was kool-aid. I'm pretty sure I could have knocked down 4 or 5 and not even realized I was drunk until I fell off the chair. Their slogan for the drink is "Careful, it goes down easy." They got that right! My old love, the prime rib, was so tasty. By itself, fantastic, but dip it in the au jus and every bite was foodgasm. And tender. Oh wow. I literally could cut it with my fork. It practically melted in my mouth. The hub's Delmonico was also tender, tasty, meaty perfection, and the sides were just as good. On my last couple of visits I've noticed that the staff seem friendlier and more relaxed. Last night was no exception. A great experience that warrants 5-stars.

We were there last night for dinner. They make the best burgers in town hands down. I ordered my usual burger and sweet potato fries. Like other times the burger was perfect but last night's burger was a bit on the charred side and I'm not a big fan of charred food. I thought it was just a one time miss since it was a really busy night there and the kitchen was overwhelmed. I mentioned to our server that my burger was too charred for my taste. He immediately apologized and had my burger replaced. I patiently waited for my replacement burger. About 10 minutes later the manager stopped by to apologize and later came by with a complete new order of the burger and more sweet potato fries. I was just WOW'ed by the incredible service. They've so exceeded my expectations. Thank you for making our dinner night out at your restaurant so awesome!

We had dinner on a Sunday evening. Service was great. Cocktails and appetizers were very good (love the crab cakes). What made it so so were the steaks. Neither of our steaks were cooked to the right temperature (one was over done, the other under). And no seasoning. That was too bad. Our waiter did a great job but a manager never walked the floor to see how things were. Overall, it's hard to recover from a bad entrée.

Awful. Upon entering you just know that you are walking into a chain. Service was friendly but the kitchen sucked. I'll just give you one example. My medium steak came out rare on one side and medium well on the other. The charred side was rare on the inside and the side that did not quite get charred well overcooked.

We came here because we were in the area and sounded closest to my likes. It's Arizona Restaurants Week and we were treated with the selections for the occasion. The crab cake and tortilla slaw were a pleasant surprise to the taste buds, while the mixed greens salads was a tasty favorite. We then ordered the NY Strip Au Poivr and Grilled Grouper. I am not a fish fan, but the presentation was good and the white mild flavor fish was boosted with the cilantro pumpkin seed pesto and basaltic reduction. The steak took the prize of best flavor with a peppercorn sauce that sent my taste buds on a journey of delight. Each dish had a side, and the fish's veggies were not as impressive as the green chile Mac and cheese that came with the steak. The desserts were both fantastic, and I couldn't pick a real winner as how can you compare brownie to cheesecake? That's right, A dense moist brownie with vanilla bean ice cream drizzled with salted caramel sauce, or a creme brûlée cheese cake caramelized on top with fresh berries and strawberry sauce ? No comparison between the two, but both plate-licking worthy. Atmosphere was trendy traditional and noise levels were not out of control. We came for lunch and were seated immediately. Check this place out for a break from normal nights out.

Firebirds is typically a great place to eat, have happy hour, or just get dessert. We come here often. This past weekend I brought a friend for lunch at about 2 p.m. The weather was awesome, so we sat on the patio. I haven't dined on the patio before, but I do love outdoor dining and the patio is very lovely. We were literally the only table seated outside at this time. I ordered a custom burger w/out bun for dietary reasons and it came out perfectly. Was very tasty. My friend had the lunchtime ribeye and was also impressed. The food, as usual was great. Patio service was not as good as indoors. We found our server slow to come out to us w/water, slow to take our order, slow to refill drinks, and our food took a long time to arrive. This isn't a typical experience. I hope they were just having an off day. This is the only reason they didn't get a 4 for this visit.

As soon as we arrived and are seated I did my Yelp duty and checked in. Upon checking in I am notified I received the Meathead badge. Cool! So, I figure this is some sort of award bestowed upon unwavering rabid carnivores. What do I do next? I order the crab cake salad. Last time I had the coconut shrimp. I have yet to have a meat dish here... go figure. The coconut shrimp was on a visit some time back and, while I was not floored by it, I recall the portion being ample and the mango-habañero chutney being pretty good. That time we had gone with friends and we ordered the Lobster Spinach Queso as an appetizer, which was also good. I have vowed to try and eat more salads so why not start after I just received my Meathead badge? The crab cake salad was kind of interesting. The crab cakes themselves were good. The salad contained mixed greens, tomatoes, tortilla strips and cilantro-lime vinaigrette. The first bite of the salad made me cough - the vinaigrette was WAY too heavy on lime. I did not taste the cilantro at all. Once I learned how to eat it - break off a piece of the crab cake and add some of the salad - it was pretty good. The tortilla strips added nice crunch, but I don't think this is something I would order again. The crab cakes, though, were good enough that I would probably order those in appetizer form. My wife had the chicken pasta with chile-asiago cream sauce... also kind of a departure for her as she is not into spicy foods. She did, however, enjoy it - especially the applewood smoked bacon that collected in the bottom. She knows me well enough that she slid her bowl across the table when she was done to allow me to sop up the remaining sauce with the remnants of the mini sourdough loaf they gave us before the meal. I forgot to mention that bread... it was one of the highlights. It was lunchtime so I did not have a cocktail. I did have a beer from their anemic draught selection. I am sure we will go back, either for their happy hour (I saw an intriguing 21-day infused pineapple vodka card on the table), or to try to live up to my Rob Reineresque Meathead carnivore status.

Walked in to firebirds and was greeted with a smile and quick service. Once seated Abby our server was right there to take our drink order and explain the menu. Salads for my mom and I! I got the Colorado chicken and she got the grilled shrimp and strawberry salad. I have special dietary requirements and Abby took care of it with a smile. Food was excellent! Mom would like to have seen more shrimp on her salad. Abby got a large tip! Thanks Firebirds!

Yum, yum and yum. Tonight we were seated and served quickly & efficiently. The place looks and smells great from the moment you walk in. My son inhaled his Caesar salad and I enjoyed the light flavor of the mixed green salad. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with tons of flavor. I had the green beans (trying to be "good")- even though they were cooked well (al dente), they didn't have much flavor. However, the sweet potato fries are not to be missed - best I've had in a looong time! Highly recommend.

On my own sat in the bar. I had the spinach salad with grilled salmon. It tasted fine but smelled very fishy. The bartender was kind and attentive. I mentioned the fishy salmon she apologized and offered me some lemon. Not memorable, except the nice bartender.

We hadn't been to Firebirds for a couple of years, but were invited by my father-in-law and his girlfriend for my husband's 60th birthday dinner. After much deliberation over the menu and inquiring on the different steak options, we all ordered the ribeye since all four of us only eat beef on occasion. We must of had a bad cut of beef because all four of us commented on the toughness, chewiness, and traits that normally a ribeye doesn't have. I ordered the BLT salad on the side and it had so much dressing that I could hardly eat it. I ate about five bites of my steak and brought the remainder home which turned out to be even worse when reheated again. When we told our waitress it was my husband's 60th birthday she just smiled and said happy birthday. We weren't looking for any thing special but thought that was a little lame to not at least get a small dessert with a bill that cost over $200! Three of us asked for the chili seasoning be added to our ribeye and it turned out that there wasn't a hint of chili taste on our steaks. When reviewing our bill we were charged one dollar per steak for the chili!! Also my husband ordered the Knockout pineapple martini which tasted like pineapple Kool-Aid for $10! We will not be spending that kind if money there ever again!

Firebirds was very good. Most of the people in our group had salads which were huge. My wife had the shrimp and strawberry salad which she said she would go back just for that dish. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes... yummy! And nicely sized portion. The mashed potatoes were definately fresh and homemade. I am not a green bean fan... but the ones they served with this dish were good with pecans. My absolute favorite thing here...bar none.... was the hot fresh loaves of bread they bring to the table. I liked this place... and will try to stop into the one near me in Scottsdale.

I Loved their infused Pineapple Vodka! I had a good lunch here the Meat loaf was so good! I felt like I was eating good thanksgiving dinner for lunch! It's a great place to hang out with friends or have nice date out on the town. Service was wonderful!

Went here while in town for my nephew's HS graduation. The food and service was really good. Everything came in a timely order and our waiter kept us full with drinks and food. Really attentive service. All six of us were very satisfied with what we ordered and the price was reasonable as well. Four and a half stars in my book.

Spinach - Lobster - Queso. YUM! Couldn't decide where to go but wanted to try something new so this is where we opted to have lunch. We walked in right after opening so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. After being seated our server was right by our side giving us the rundown of specials and taking a drink order. The four of us split the mentioned queso for an appetizer and it was delicious! Then everyone else had steak while I tried the salmon. Portions were huge and the steaks were all cooked just right while my salmon was perfectly flakey and so good. For dessert we chose a creme brulee cheesecake and although we weren't able to finish it it wasn't for lack of trying. All in all a very good meal and while I would choose a local restaurant whenever possible I would definitely not mind coming back here.

A low key, cozy yet fancy place...Excellent food, service and cocktails. We had the pecan crusted trout which was awesome but its pretty much fried fish so that's hard to not be good. Fiancé had the wood fired salmon which was excellent. Little smokey flavor but not overpowering. Absolutely get the ginger basil mango mojito, it's a perfect blend. Not super sweet either as I'm not a fan of the sweet fruity nonsense. However, the significant other got the bubbly peach cocktail. Strong (vodka), sweet (peach something), bubbly (prosecco). Service was great, server Scott did a great job despite it being very busy. Overall a great experience.

The atmosphere was relaxing as others have stated. It's not in your face posh, nor is it ripped shorts and a tank-top kinda place. It's comfortably somewhere in the middle. Nor is it a romantic type of place. It has more of a family vibe, or the we've been married for 20+ years vibe. The prices are reasonable and average around $20 to $28 for the entrees. We ordered a starter (which never came) and a couple of steaks. Our waiter was clearly pretty new to the point his voice almost quivered *haven't used that word for ages* and he was nervous. Thus, our missing starter that was forgotten about. Steaks come a little undercooked then the standard Arizona Steakhouse Cooking Cookbook. Meaning that if you order "medium" it will come out a tad rarer than expected. They were a good value for the money, and the waiter insisted that we get a free starter but we passed as the entrees were already on the table. The wine and desert was enjoyable and also reasonably priced. Had it not been for the starters, it would have gotten an extra star. But in my book, any place you go and spend upward of $70 shouldn't be making mistakes.

We got in for a last minute reservation on a Friday night around 8:15pm. The restaurant was quiet by then, not too crowded. Or server, Shannon was amazing. She could tell we were starving, got our drink order and appetizer order right away. Usually, servers walk away after putting in a drink order. We knew what we wanted quickly, and she was there as soon as we were ready. We both got the prime rib, which is so delicious! Our drinks were never empty, she was attentive without being intrusive. She noticed our appetizer was taking a bit longer than usual I assume, and a manager came by to let us know it was being made from scratch, and they were taking care of it for us. We hadn't even said anything, because my boyfriend didn't notice, and we were both okay with waiting. Shannon is the best server we have ever had in all of our dining experiences. We will definitely request her next time we go in, and highly recommend her and this restaurant. Thank you, Shannon and management for making our night that much better!

Actually, we loved the service, and the food. I had the grouper and it was very good. My girlfriend had the vegetable skewer. But they served the skewer with raw red onion!!! And there was plenty of it too. Do they expect us to eat that? Naughty! I hope they read this! Cook the onion on the veggie skewer!!! It's a pricey menu too!

Keep in mind, this place is not my kind of joint. If meat and potatoes in a "Black Angus on steroids" is yours, then keep reading on. And to precursor my 3; I rated it based on my normal feelings about the place and the mere fact they can't make a Gin Fizz...so don't order one! Other than that, the food really was very good. I ordered the meatloaf and we ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. Whatever the salad was that was served with the crab cakes was spectacular. I would go back just for that alone. My meatloaf, my sister's steak and shrimp and the kids' meals were excellent. No complaints whatsoever. Our server was polite, on-the-ball and tried to accommodate us in any way possible. Like I said, it's just my personal taste. Not a meat and potato kind of girl but for those of you that are please know that more than likely, you'll enjoy this place and the atmosphere it creates.

Ask me where to eat in the La Encantada Shopping area and Firebirds is the first place to slip off my tongue. They have it all and each dish has a unique touch that makes it better from the rest. Fave appetizer so far is the lobster queso dip; chunks of lobster meat in warm gooey cheese. What's not to like? All the salads are good. I love the shrimp & strawberry salad. I'm usually not a sweet salad type but it was interesting enough to try and was pleasing to my taste buds. I've tried several dishes and my top fave is the Steak Sandwich. I'm not even the steak sandwich kind of girl. Then there's their meat loaf and oh, the lemon chicken. Try it all!!! its good. Leave room for dessert!!! The creme brulee cheesecake is to die for. Full or not, I never pass on their cheesecake.

Went for lunch today with a friend... Everything was great! I had the blue cheese and mushroom burger ($10.50), which was HUGE! I could only eat half of this behemoth, but took the other half home for my teenage son. The burger was melt-in-your mouth delicious, and cooked just the way I ordered it (medium). It came with melted blue cheese and portobello mushrooms on a toasted sourdough roll ~ YUM! I also got a caesar salad for my side- $1 extra, but worth it. Good caesar- very flavorful... I have to say, if you are in the mood for a good burger- compared to Zinburger, this place is a VALUE... In my opinion, the burgers have much better flavor, plus condiments are not extra. I asked for some darker lettuce to replace the iceberg that came with the burger, and the server brought me two different kinds of lettuce, which made me a happy camper. Added pluses- great service and the bread here is delicious. Our lunch check for two people (with two beverages and tip) came to just under $30. (About half the price of my last trip to Zinburger).

I came here for my birthday dinner with friends and ordered the lobster spinach queso as an appetizer which was good but nothing special. As my entree I ordered the 7 oz filet mignon, and again it was nothing special. The applewood smoked bacon wrapped around it was actually a little bit too salty for my taste. I've tried much better steaks than the one I had. For dessert we ordered the big daddy chocolate cake and warm chocolate brownie, both were alright except the brownie was not so warm. The atmosphere is great but the food is so so.

My husband and I drove to La Encantada with the plan to get some sushi at Ra. Then I smelled the glorious scent of food cooking on the wood fired grill. I was hooked. And increasingly hungry. Our waitress was very friendly. After deciding on our meals and drinks, she brought us bread fresh out of the oven. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - the kind that you don't want to stop eating but know you should if you want to eat your actual meal. My husband and I each ordered red meat and we split a side of veggies. The meat was cooked well, and it paired perfectly with my glass of red wine. Firebirds was definitely worth the trip - and the change of plans.

The wait time is a bit lengthy but a wait is usually a sign of a good restaurant. Finally got sat at 7:15 and the waiter took the drink order at 7:25, I think a wait of 10 minutes just to order drinks is excessive. However the atmosphere seems fun. The waiter was very nice. Steak came out fatty and charred but the inside was of the steak was perfect. We did have to send it back because the overwhelming charring of the steak was too much to eat. The double black diamond martini is great, EXCELLENT; I would come here just for these martinis!! OVERALL this place is really good as we tried many of the menu items. Happy hour here is a good deal! They give you many drink discounts at happy hour and several food options. Go here for happy hour or a nice dinner with your family.

We were here for happy hour a year ago and it was good but not memorable. Today we dropped in for a Late lunch and had the blue cheese burger with their signature coleslaw. It was delicious. The burger was cooked to our specifications. And the blue cheese was "wow" good! If you like blue cheese burgers, this is probably the best in Tucson. I love the same burger at Noble Hops but this one was better. Even though we waited a bit for it to come out, it was so good that no less than five stars were deserved.

Eddie was our waiter and he was great! He was very professional and knowledgeable. The cheeseburger was very good, the tortilla soup was delicious, the French dip sandwich was huge very good and came with some great sides. The roast beef on the sandwich was thinly sliced and very good. The spinach salad with shrimp was very good too. The chicken wings were delicious- spicy but not too spicy. Everyone was very friendly and our drinks were never empty! Eddie recommended the creme brûlée cheesecake which we all shared and it was so good! The prices were very fair. My dad loved the music! We will definitely be returning next time we come to Tucson and recommending Firebirds to our friends. Thanks to Eddie for the great recommendations on the menu too- we enjoyed everything he suggested!

Went to this place for my first time with some friends. I must say it was well worth the 45 minute drive here. It is located in a culdesac with other posh restaturants and patio dining. This place is located on the back side of La Encantada shopping center. When you first walk in, the entire restaurant has dimmed lighting, a bar up front and a very sexy overall feel. The restaurant is somewhat wide open, where you can see directly in the kitchen/grill area. On teh corner of the bar you see this giant yellow light which looks like a lamp..turns out they are the vodka fused pineapples..pretty cool. The service was prompt and amazing. For appetizers we ordered the crab cakes, smoky wings, and fried shrimp. All came in decent time and tasted FABULOUS! The wings had just the right amount of smoke and kick to them..no ranch or blue cheese required. The martinis (pomegrante sunrise-sweet, double black diamond with pineapple infuded vodka-smooth) were great. Place could be considered a little pricy, but you will get your moneys worth and then some. Expect to spend about $50 per person with drinks and appetizers. I ordered the filet mignon and grilled shrimp, both just melted in my mouth. They ask if you want a salad, but it is extra which they do not mention, but no typical side salad, it was huge..I had the BLT salad. The only side that comes with the meal is baked potato, fries, or mashed potatoes or veggies. Others in my group ordered salmon, new your strip, delmonico and sirloin. They were all satisfied completely. Parking is crowded and massive on Saturday night, recommend valet parking for $5. Call ahead for reservations.

My "dining trio" group (that's husband Gary, mom and I) hit Firebirds on a busy night. I had exchanged a gift I got at Tiffany's, so I was feeling all pampered and such, ha ha! We lucked out and didn't have to wait, getting a table near the cooking area. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, very open, with two levels, and this big ol' stuffed deerhead staring down at the diners. The ambiance reminds me of a northern hunting area feeling, something with snow outside. It was quite noisy on this night, but we still were able to chit chat just fine. We had a friendly and very capable waiter (Eddy-or Edmund on the receipt), who accommodated my mom's concerns for too much spice by bringing her a generous sample of the lobster spinach queso (dip served with chips), $10.50. It passed the "spice" test for her gringa tastebuds, & it was yummy. (I think they have a discount on appetizers in certain locations during happy hour.) The food took a bit to come but we were happy enough, since we filled up a bit on the appetizer. Mom settled on the Colorado Chicken Salad. She enjoyed it. I got the Grilled Shrimp and Strawberry salad, with mixed greens, grilled shrimp, goat cheese, jicama, sugar roasted pecans, strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette ($14.50). It was surprisingly superb, a generous portion and I made lunch out of it the next day too. Gary dined on the Sesame Encrusted Salmon ($14.50), which came with a side or two. He got a huge, coarse-salted, baked potato. I tasted the fish, which had a fabulous texture and taste. Really nicely prepared, and a good sized portion, also (hey, those things matter!). He also had leftovers for lunch the next day. The meal came with a freshly baked mini bread loaf, very soft and tasty. We didn't "do" dessert, so no idea about 'em. But I did see the choices, from creme brulee cheesecake to carrot cake and chocolate brownie with caramel sauce and other naughty delights. We really had a positive experience there!

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is a chain restaurant. The restaurant is comfortable with enough wood and stone and fireplaces to give it a sort of modern rustic feel, just like a good steakhouse should have. A chain restaurant usually provides a consistent dining experience. It's usually not necessarily phenomenal, but at least you will not be disappointed most times. But surprise! I think Firebirds is better than many chain restaurants out there, and I keep coming back here when I am in the mood for steak or prime rib. The food here is some of the best you can get in Tucson at a reasonable price. All the steak dishes are well seasoned and are cooked exactly the way you order. My favorite dish at Firebirds is the Herb Roasted Prime Rib. It came with a loaded Colorado Russet baked potato, and the Prime Rib was seasoned with fresh herbs and pepper. OMG...It was so delicious!!! The fresh herbs really enhanced the flavor of the meat. The meat itself was super tender as well. I normally can only eat about 6 oz. of steak or prime rib. Last night, the prime rib was so good that I kept eating until almost all of the 12 oz. was gone. Afterwards, I went into a mini food coma on the way home. Thank goodness my husband was driving. One thing to keep in mind if you order the prime rib is that they only make so much a night... Once it's gone, it's gone! Most of the time I get there too late, so getting to the restaurant a little earlier last night definitely paid off! The service at Firebirds tends to be a little on the slow side. It seemed even slower last night as the restaurant was packed at 7 PM on a Sunday night.

Firebirds Chicken Pasta is my favorite dish. They give you a good portion of pasta and chicken. The flavor is very robust. I highly recommend trying this. The crab cakes are alright but nothing special. Moving onto drinks...there is waaaaaaay too much hype over their Double Black Diamond, pineapple infused Martini. It taste like pineapple juice without a hint of vodka. In fact, most of their Martini's have a low alcohol content.

Went today for lunch with my husband and a friend. We all ordered salads. I got the Colorado chicken salad, which was delicious. It was a large serving size and all of the ingredients were fresh. My other two lunch companions got the spinach salad and added chicken to it. The serving of chicken was huge! The meal also came with a loaf of bread to share. Very good food. The staff is very accommodating. We opted to sit outside on the patio, and they offered to turn on the heaters, which made the experience more pleasant. I give it a 5 because ive eaten here before and had the bbq chicken sandwich and a burger and both were excellent as well. Their desserts are to die for! Overall good experience.

This is a favorite of my Dad and his lady, we went for my last night in Tucson. An upscale place in Tucson's upscale outdoor mall that feels like a chain, but perhaps isn't. The food was very good, aside from me getting bacon around my filet mignon when I had asked for it without. It's open and airy, has a fireplace in the bar.

The baby back ribs here with the side of cider slaw are amazing and the ribs just fall off the bone. My all time favorite here though is the sirloin steak kabobs served with grilled peppers and onions on top of a balsamic vinegarette reduction drizzle!! The steak is ALWAYS tender and tasty. A great cut of beef, and the peppers and onions are never over cooked. The manager takes the time to walk around and make sure everyone is happy with their food and the staff is always friendly and eager to let you substitute any sides and such you may not like.

We went to Firebirds for my birthday dinner. It was the second time we visited. On our first visit my husband's steak was overcooked. The waiter came to our table and said that the chef would not serve it because it was not done appropriately. He cooked another steak which was delivered within a few minutes, was perfect, and was, even better, free-of-charge. Given the good service and food of the first visit, I decided to give it another go. This visit was not as good as the first. I had the aspen sirloin, medium well. Unfortunately it was incredibly dry. The baked potato was good. We also ordered the port mushrooms, which were very good. I highly recommend them. The mixed green salad was okay, nothing exceptional. They could have put about half of the tomato on it. (The tomatoes were a bit mushy.) We may go again, but it won't be on the top of my list for restaurants in Tucson.

I was recently here for a friend's birthday and I didn't have uber high expectations. There were 10 of us and I'm used to the typical 10 top sub-par service. I was wrong. The service was great! Everything came out on time and together. It wasn't the best steak ever, but the chopped BLT salad was good (I went with blue cheese dressing rather than the ranch) and the key lime pie was really good. I'm not normally a key lime fan, but I couldn't get enough. The peanut butter pie was very good as well. I had a peach martini that was good, a little pricey for a martini in my opinion. Wine list was average and could use a little work though.

  • Kirstin B.

While a tad pricey, this place does have incredible ribs. My husband's order were so tender they literally fell off the bone. I ordered chicken which was just average. It's a steak place though and I should have known better. Next time steaks all around...they seem to do those well. Service was great. Our waiter was prompt and our glasses never made it to empty with out a refill or him checking to see if we wanted a new drink.

  • Rourke M.

I didn't have high expectations coming in here but the salmon, veggies, and loaded baked potato I ordered were exceptional and were washed down comfortably with a Grey Goose martini. The service and prices were decent but the smell of sulfur on the outdoor patio reminded me -- rather unpleasantly -- of Iceland.

The food and staff were all excellent. It is a warm and cozy atmosphere like you are in a lodge inside. It is not too noisy either. I was with a party of 10 and we were served promptly throughout the meal. We ordered appetizers, full entrees, desert and coffee. We all enjoyed our meals. Not one of us left unsatisfied and it was packed! If a place is packed and the service does not suffer it deserves 5 stars in my book.

Ok have you ever had that place you look forward to, that you depend on, the place you go to when your tired of trying and you just want good food and good service??? Well that place used to be Firebird's for me. Tonight they broke my heart. We have never been there for dinner always lunch, always awesome food and impeccable service! So how could we go wrong with dinner? My awesome husband made reservations for 7:45pm and we arrived early at 7:25pm checked in and received a coaster thingy to let us know when our table was ready we waited outside... at 8pm we went in to see what was happening maybe our coaster was broken? But, no we were told people were 'camping out.' So we waiting and while waiting so many, many groups come in and get tables that came after us and even people that didn't have to get the coaster 'thingy' they got priority! My husband asked what was up at 8:15 and was told very snippily that she was aware of us and would be seated next. I stated give the coaster back we can leave and go where someone wants our money, but out of nowhere a hostess and a manager arrived and seated us. We were told by Mike the manager an appetizer was on them for our inconvenience. Kudos for the manager finally taking the upper hand, but a little too late and we never saw him again. The waiter in his words:" I guess Mike says I am to give you a free appetizer, what do you want?" So oh yeah that is true service... NOT! The food still great I could live on their ahi tuna appetizer and the sesame encrusted salmon was the bomb! Will I go again, maybe for lunch, but I will think before I go. I loathe having to complain it puts a bad taste in my mouth and who wants that before food?

The food is kind of average.... a lot of people can do better in their kitchen or backyard; however, the mixed drinks at the bar are tasty! Happy Hour has decent prices for food and drinks too.

I had an AMAZING experience at Firebirds tonight. My son has a gluten allergy, in addition to about 10 other things. I googled gluten free menus and this restaurant game up. I called earlier in the day and talked to a Abby about my son's allergies. She talked to me for like 30 minutes, really taking the time to understand our needs. Then they created a custom meal for him, cooked it separate and treated him like royalty. Plus, my meal was simple delicious. It was the best eating experience I have had in a while. I HIGHLY recommend them. Wonderfuk service from wait staff, kitchen, manager, really cool atmosphere and the food is to die for. Awesome. Simply awesome. 4 adults and 2 kids ate for 130 (with alcohol), which is pretty comparable to other lesser quality places.

The food is terrific and the prices fair for lunch or dinner. Ample variety for every taste, including the health conscious. One standout that I have never before seen was the Flash Fried Baby Spinach. Light and airy and surprisingly good. A must try.

Nice place. I was there for lunch on a Saturday with a large group (20+). They sat us quickly and were very efficient. I had a really good chicken sandwich. The orders were accurate and everyone seemed to love their lunch. Probably 10% too expensive, though.

My boyfriend and I wanted to celebrate our four-year anniversary with some steak. What better way to celebrate love than with a rare piece of steak? We arrived around 7:30pm and was seated promptly. (We had made a reservation, but they weren't too too busy.) The interior of the restaurant was perfect for a steakhouse. Very tall ceiling, with exposed wood and hugely tall wooden pillars. Our booth faced a giant elk head that was hung over a case of unopened wine bottles. The place was cozy... reminiscent of a giant log cabin. We ordered two different red wines: a Chilean merlot and a New Zealand pinot noir. We aren't wine connoisseurs, but they went quite nicely with our steaks. Affordable and good. Before our main course came out, we tried the lobster queso dip due to the amazing reviews my friends gave it. I would have to say that it is good, but it would have been better had it had more chunks of lobster...but then again, what do you expect from a $10 dip? Adding more lobster would have made it unaffordable for a couple of grad students like us. The steaks came out as we were finishing up our appetizer. The timing was good. I ordered the pepper crusted sirloin, and my boyfriend ordered the Aspen sirloin. Upon cutting into them, we immediately realized that the Aspen sirloin was overcooked. Instead of being rare, it was more medium rare. Although a bit disappointed, my boyfriend still happily ate his steak, for the charred, smoky flavor managed to make up for a bit of its shortcomings. As for my steak, it was near-perfect. The steak was indeed rare, and the peppercorn crust was a wonderful addition. It gave the steak a nice bit of crunch, but at the same time, it sealed in the juices. Believe it or not, I ate the whole thing...all 12oz of it. The steaks came with loaded baked potatoes, but these potatoes were different. They were encrusted with coarse salt. I know that when I bake potatoes at home, the salt on the peel somehow causes the potato to become very fluffy on the inside. BUT, the salt crust on these baked potatoes was excessive. It was painfully salty. After recently hearing the report on how Americans need to cut down their salt by half, I was not wanting to eat all that salt. So, I just ended up eating the inside of the baked potato. It also would have been better with a little more of the fixins'. We didn't end up eating dessert there; we were absolutely stuffed. Overall, a great place for steak with good service and a nice atmosphere. You can either dress up or dress down; either way, you won't look out of place.

I love this place! I've had many items on the menu, but nothing compares to the Durango Burger. This is truly the best hamburger I've ever had. Since the time I tried it, I've never been able to bring myself to order something else again. Somehow the combination of garlic ranch, fried onions, pepper jack cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce on an always cooked perfectly hamburger is the perfect combination. I literally rave about it around town. I used to think pickles in a burger was gross, but it just works perfectly here. The burger comes with fries, which are particularly good here, and I recommend asking for a side of ranch for dipping. The ranch has a hint if garlic which is a lovely touch. I frequently get the spinach salad as an appetizer, which is also delicious. The other people in my party claim the salmon is great and the coconut shrimp is the best, as well. I just can't pass up the Durango

My new favorite place in Tucson. They have a great menu with good prices. Their onion rings are the best I have had since I was a kid. The french dip at $11 is fantastic but I think the best meal they have is their baby back ribs for $23. This is by far the best resturant in the area!

This place gets three stars because the service was so great and the food...not so great. We ordered the smokehouse chicken sandwich and the chicken pasta (I don't remember what it was called, but it had a BBQ Alfredo sauce). The sandwich was a chicken breast and two pieces of bacon smothered in BBQ sauce, between the two halves of a Costco-esque burger bun. That was it, except for some diced red onion and grated, really orange "cheddar" (which I didn't eat, since I generally don't put anything that glows in the dark in my body). My mom had the pasta, which seemed to have the exact same ingredients as my sandwich, except on pasta. It was not very good. The redeeming element of our Firebirds experience was the service. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the manager came by to make sure we liked the food. When we told him it was just alright, he asked what they could have done to make it great (ahem, kaiser roll, lettuce, tomato, decent SLICED cheese). He ended up taking my mom's pasta dish off our bill... They get big points for that. All in all, the food was pretty mediocre, but the service is what I would expect at a much more expensive restaurant. In a while we'll try them again and see if the kitchen got the memo.

Great friendly staff, excellent customer service and tasty food. Really can't go wrong, can't say I've ever had a bad meal here. The bread is amazing, be aware, don't eat too much or you'll quickly get full! Bleu cheese filet with mushrooms on the side is delicious.

When my mother's birthday rolled around she had short-notice guests from out of town, then a couple of other relatives invited themselves and I had NO PLANS. My usual go-tos for special occasions have gone downhill in my estimation, so I decided to take a chance. I've eaten at Firebirds several times for casual dinners on the patio and I enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the other people who was attending also gave it a thumbs up, so I called hoping they could give me a reservation for 8 people for dinner. It was a Saturday night and they were busy, but when we arrived our table was ready inside. We had a FANTASTIC waiter. We ordered drinks and appetizers and then dinners. Our broad-age-range group loved their food, ranging from steaks to salmon (prepared a variety of ways),to pasta, to grilled chicken. Our glasses were constantly refilled, used dishes were whisked away (a pet peeve of mine when they're not), we were never rushed. We turned down dessert, as I had a cake ready at home. I had not told anyone at Firebirds that it was a birthday dinner, but someone must have overheard us talking. As I was settling the check (and leaving our hard-working waiter a big tip), he surprised Mom with a chocolate sundae with a candle on it. She likes ice cream more than cake, so she was thrilled and everyone thought I had planned that. Nope, but thanks to Firebirds for raising our event from a family dinner to a party atmosphere. Well-made food, very attentive service, a staff prepared to handle a busy night. This isn't high-minded gourmet food, but the menu has wide appeal and the place is well-managed. (Hint: Use the valet on Saturday; La Encantada gets jammed.)

We use to go to El Corral for a great steak. Not anymore! This is our favorite steakhouse. They messed up once with the salad but the manager quickly made it right. The food is outstanding! The beer taps are awesome! The service is superb!

Wife and I had another wonderful dinner there tonight. Steve, our waiter, was very helpful, friendly and attentive. I loved my Sesame Encrusted Salmon with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and the fried Spinach chips were wonderful. The Creme Brulee' Cheesecake was worth a stop...close the eyes... and savor the wonderful taste for a few moments. We were remarking how consistent the food quality has been since we've been coming for several years now. Really great place!

We celebrated our "After Christmas Meal" with another couple here in early January. This was a restaurant we'd never been to before and only found out about it thanks to a gift card from a client. We'd heard conflicting things on various review sites about the restaurant including unattentive staff and long waits for tables. So, we were pleased to find those reviews had obviously been wrong. We were greeted by a personable hostess who seated us almost immediately. When our friends arrived she showed them to our table and took our drink orders. Our server was quick, friendly and efficient. We chose a variety of dishes from the menu including steak, shrimp, and salmon. Each dish was wonderfully prepared. The flash fried spinach was a big hit with our group and certainly will be something we order on future visits. The portions were good and we even had a little left over to take away with us. The food was very good for a chain restaurant and the quality in line with the price. The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting. The lodge type design with large central fireplace and understated lighting makes for a nice evening experience. We'll certainly be back to Firebirds in the future.

Casual atmosphere feels like you are in a ski lodge. Good american fare. Nothing fancy just a bit of an upper class twist on old stand byes. i cant imagine being disappointed here. great service too.

Nice ambiance. Over priced drinks and they are WEAK to boot. Kerry ? blonde waitress on Friday in the bar area was rude, pushy and hurried not friendly or relaxed. Appetizers we tried- shrimp, potato wedges, chips/salsa, sliders were fair at best. Applebee's is actually better and with friendlier service too. Not worth all of the hulaballoo that it gets.

I have always had great luck at this place. Of course I only go there on special date nights with the boyfriend but every time I've been there I never regret spending as much as we do... My boyfriend thinks the blue cheese steak is to die for, while I'm pretty content with just the filet mignon and a baked potato. And they put a lot of topping on those things. You must start with the Onion Rings.... You also get bread with the meal, and a salad is an option with most meals. You really do get a lot of great food for as much as your paying. The staff is always great too... the last time we went my steak was a bit undercooked (I think they got our orders a bit mixed). I was fine with it but before I even mentioned it the waiter asked if it was cooked well enough. I didn't bother her with taking it back but cheers for her keeping an eye open! Love this place! Oh and they don't take reservations... do call-ahead if you can.

While classified as a steakhouse, I'd have to say it fits more into Southwestern with a hint of cajun. New Mexico southwestern style if you will. All of the food is amazing! Definitely get the lobster queso, but like i said, everything is good!

The food was 3.5 to 4 star. The service, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired for. I would give it a negative rating, if I could. The taste of the food means nothing if the service is this bad. And frankly, I don't understand why the service was so bad on such a slow night.

I liked this restaurant, although I can't say they served the best steak I'd ever had. First off, their decor is really cool. It's not common to see "Colorado/lodge" style architecture in the Southwest, so it was a neat departure from what we'd been seeing in and around Tucson. Secondly, their staff were really nice. Our waitress paid a lot of attention to us and was very responsive and knowledgeable about all the menu items. Finally, talk about huge portions! I ordered the Chile Rubbed Delmonico steak with Southwestern au gratin potatoes. Everything was delicious! I would love to return when I'm back in the area to try their other menu items.

Went here for lunch. It was my anniversary and wanted something special. All the reviews made me give it a try and it was well worth it. We both had steaks and they were oh so flavorable and cooked perfect. Our waiter checked on us reguarly but was not hovering so we could enjoy ourselves. Once we were done the waiter and manager came over with a rich sweet ice cream to wish us a happy anniversary. We will definately be going again when we are in town.

Great menu, however, I'm always stuck trying to decide between their "Baby Back Ribs" or "Prime Rib". Both excellent and the best in Tucson IMHO!!

It's good, Came here for lunch the other day with a friend of mine and his son and had a fantastic burger. Being from Colorado, I was a little shocked when I found a Rocky Mountain Grill in the middle of the Desert, but hey then again Vegas has a Arctic zoo.... Don't know if the place is a chain (which looks like it is) but the prices at least for lunch seemed a tad steep. I'll try it again for dinner but considering the ambiance, I think Flemings offers a better cut.

Went to the restaurant during happy hour and sat in the bar. While we didn't necessarily want to eat the bar type appetizers, we ordered off their "Rocky Mountain time" menu, smaller portions of their main entrees served between 4-6 pm. I had the Pecan Crusted Trout topped with cilantro peach salsa, served with tortilla slaw. It was outstanding. We also had the wood grilled salmon with a stuffed baked potato and grilled vegetables. Everything was delicious, including the warm bread. i can't wait to return and try some more of their menu.

EVERY time I go there, I order Pepper Crusted Sirloin... YUMMY. Love the BLT salad which is complimentary with the steak meal. Oh, and the garlic mashed potatoes... yum yum. Staff... always friendly every time I've been there. I think they have great food.

My wife and I went there while we were in the area and ended up being pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was a little slow, but he seemed to have to handle too many tables to handle so I didn't get too upset over it. The food was delicious. My wife had the French Dip and I had the grilled salmon. Also, the bread they serve at the table always came hot and it was excellent.

Overall good and we would return. Nice environment, but try to get a booth so you're not seated in the middle, quite crowded tables. Very high ceilings save it from feeling cramped. You can call before arriving to leave your name, party size and time for a 'call ahead' list; it's not a reservation that guarantees a table but you'll be seated ahead of walk-ins. The Lobster Queso (jack cheese, lobster, spinach 'fondue' dip) served with tortilla chips is an amazing appie. We four ordered a steak, hamburger, crabcake salad and buffalo meatloaf with au gratin potatoes. All were excellent except that the au gratin potatoes were so salty one little bite burned all our tongues - it was inedible. We told our server and said we weren't looking for anything to be comp'd but felt they had to know. She apologized but her warm service turned icy cold after that which was disappointing. The quality of all the other food would have warranted an Above average rating had it not been for the icy turn by our server and the oversalted spuds. We will go again - the lobster, steak et al warrants another chance!

It is a chain. There are a handful of these , 3 in AZ and a few more across the country I think I have only been treated to lunch and dinner here so I cannot recall the exact prices but I never thought that it was anything too outrageous. I have only had one main course there- Pecan Crusted Trout topped with cilantro peach salsa, served with tortilla slaw. Delicious. The crab cakes appetizers were good and so were the Bleu Cheese Chips. Here is little insider information about me; I do not eat birthday cake on my birthday -- I eat birthday pie. Specifically homemade peanut butter pie. Well Firebirds to me has the second best peanut butter pie after my wife's. Their Rocky Mountain Peanut Butter Pie is awesome.

Great steaks! I've been to Flemings, Sullivans, McMahon's, El Corral, etc. and this place is near the top of my list for steak. I may have just been luck or extremely hungry that day, but I loved it. The caesar salad was great too, fresh and cool. The only drawback I can think of is the wait. They don't take reservations, only call ahead seating. The last time we went was mid afternoon on a Sunday and we ran into the older after-church crowd.

I like the feel of this place. We went for lunch and it was good, and affordable. We went to try the pineapple martini's and they were good but they use cheap booze in them, so for the price I wanted a better buzz. The coconut shrimp were some of the better I have had for being such a generic dish. I think they actually make them there. I had the seared ahi-salad that was also good, I would order it again, it had some complex herb flavors that were a pleasant surpise for something in La Encantada, ya know a bunch of over rated, trendy, generic places that charge to much! It was like the chef actually new how to combine flavors and wasn't following a menu sent down by corporate.

For a chain steakhouse, I haven't had better. The food was unique from the lobster queso, sesame crusted salmon, and the herb crusted prime rib. The rib was cooked to perfection, and my wife raved about the salmon. the service was fast and friendly. This was our first visit to this restaurant, and it made a great first impression.

The First Raving Review I have ever wanted to write. Firebirds NEVER disappoints and may be my favorite Restaurant. If you like Steak, They have some great ones. Prices seem very fair given the high quality of the food. You should not be disappointed here.

I like this spot .I didn't have a good experience the first time I ate there but , i gave it another try and I'm glad I did. I dine here at least every couple of months. The building is beautiful, and the service is great. And of course its located in the best mall in Tucson, surrounded by stores like BEBE , Louis Vouton, Mac ..and the list goes on ..A must try.

I don't claim to be a gourmand but feel that I know what I'm talking about when I talk about good food. I've eaten Spanish food in Germany, German food in Italy, Italian food in Thailand, and Mexican food in the Philippines. I've also had Pizza in Naples, Goulash in Budapest, Schnitzel in Austria, Spatzel in Germany, and Lutefisk in Norway. In other words, I've had about everything everywhere. I despise bland food. That's one reason I really liked this restaurant. Firebirds is a chain but the food doesn't taste like chain food. The ambiance is supposedly "Rocky Mountain" but I'm not into ambiance I'm into food. It was nice, comfortable and air-conditioned (very important in Tucson). Located at the La Encantada Mall in Northweast Tucson, it offers just about the most flavorful steak I've ever tasted. I went there with my brother and his family. As a starter we had the Lobster-Spinach Queso dip with tortilla chips. Sometimes these unique entrees don't come out very well but I will tell you that I scraped the bowl (with their great bread) and I don't usually scrape the bowl. I ordered the BLT (yes, bacon, lettuce, tomato) salad with ranch dressing on the side. Usually these salads are routine and ordinary but this was one of the best salads I've had anywhere in the world. I didn't know you could make lettuce taste that good. For myself, I had the chile-rubbed Delmonico Steak. The rub was just enough to give it a subtle flavor of chili but not so much as to overwhelm. The steak was tender and went very good with the garlic mashed potatoes. My sister-in-law had a martini and loved it. The only reason I've just rating this a "4" is that I haven't sampled enough of their menu to really judge them and my nephew's prime rib was unevenly cooked . I don't know if that's because of the particular cut or part of the beef it came from (he ordered the 16 oz) but it ranged from very rare to medium. Overall though, it was a great experience and I'm definitely going back someday. It was very inexpensive considering the food. I just wish they'd open one in California. Look for an update next time I go there.

we went in the early afternoon after lunch, so it wasn't busy. our server was a little weird and had an attitude problem or something. either that or he was racist. the shrimp in the salad was succulent and fresh. the burger was ok. nothing stands out, nothing outstanding. it is good for families with kids, compared to some of the other noisier and crowded restaurants at la encantada. i don't think i'll be returning anytime soon.
