We made a special trip to Prescott from Sedona to check this place out and we are glad we did. Prescott is a cool little town. Superstition was amazing. My friends and I sampled all of the current stock of mead (and even bought some to take away!) The staff was fun and energetic. We enjoyed learning about the different flavors. The ambiance was inviting and they even had live music (at the appropriate volume...which a lot of places get wrong).

Love the Mead. Appetizers are delicious, Wish there was a little bit more appetizers. Or hors d'oeuvres added to the menu.

Excellent mead. Knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. This place is a hidden gem. Check it out! It's underneath the spice shop.

MEAD TO KNOW Friendly service, knowledgeable on everything on mead. 26 dollars for 13 flights is a very good to choose what you like. The Apophis is A MUST & Lagrimas de Oro. You will taste every flavor that is mentioned in the description. I will be coming again & again. Personally I enjoyed the honey Highway & bought a bottle.

Pretty Yuppie. Didn't feel like spending $20 for 4 oz worth of Mead. Sorry...

We were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem in historic Prescott! The server was knowledgeable and friendly, the food was delicious, and we really enjoyed trying the different types of mead.

A very cute discovery! Right below the market, we were greeted with a very cool view of vats of honey, in the process of being fermented. There was a very cozy atmosphere- with comfy chairs and dim lights. Felt like a modern speakeasy. We ordered a wonderful cheese plate mix and a handful of samples of mead. They all had such a different taste! Loved the aphrodesia?? And the tahitian vanilla. Their berry cider was very easy going down too. Over all a great experience while on our trip to prescott.

This place is a gem! It's very individual amongst the other shops and businesses on the street. No, not everyone is going to like every mead, just like not everyone likes every beer at a brewery, geez. The atmosphere is cozy but cool, very laid back. Comfy chairs and a somewhat 'exposed' look as well. Love that it's hidden in the basement. It's a good place to go to just sip the mead, get a small bite to eat (nothing filling), and have some REAL conversation. The ambience just fosters it. And the music we saw (P.K. Gregory, I believe) was one of a kind and the lyrics had us laughing even. Everyone was very personable and it felt like all the customers and workers were 'brought together' in the environment, yet while my boyfriend and I were still able to talk amongst ourselves. It was lovely. And this place is open later than a lot of places on the same street. Will definitely be frequenting this place when we move out there :)

So glad we stumbled upon this place, the Dark Matter Hard Cider is definitely a winner! We didn't get a chance to try their food, but next time we're in, we'll give the salmon bruschetta a go. The place has a very laid back atmosphere and our bartender was very helpful and personable. I would recommend that if you come to Prescott, that you stop in!

Place is clean and cozy. Different than the expected for Prescott. The manager waited on us and he was knowledgeable and polite but when it came to asking us how we liked the mead and we only liked 2 of the 22 he gave us, it was like he was gonna go hide and cry (weird). News alert- not everyone will like mead! He told us to sip each one at least 3 times before making a decision- we did and still only 2 of them were decent enough to drink. The one that has mango it was good and the Mt Olympus one was good. There were 3 of them (kid you not) smelled like skunk weed. Me, not a huge fan of stinky so I plugged my nose while sipping those 3 and even with the nose plugging I didn't enjoy them. We were also given 2 ciders. I've never been a fan of cider so I cannot comment but my friend is and she said she didn't like them. We didn't have a lot of time so I will be back- because not only do they have mead and cider, they also have wine and food. I liked the setting- very peaceful and relaxing so definitely will give them another try.

This was a random find as were taking an initial bop around town. We were looking at the spice shop and we heard music downstairs and we learned about this place that had this prohibition style booze. I'm still not sure what I was drinking, but each glass sample was either two or three bucks or you could go for all the samples for a higher fee. It was mostly like a desert wine with some sweeter than others. The Vanilla was my favorite. It was Saturday night and a cool two person band was playing while we sipped our unusual beverages. Staff was very friendly and when the guy brought us the wrong check, he just decided not to charge us for a few samples. Good place for about an hour of entertainment and drinking. Mix of groups, young and old.

Mead is disgusting. The staff is very knowledgeable and good at what they do BUT that cannot make up for the fact that mead is not good.

Omg! This place is so nice, relaxed, good food, awesome live jazz! The staff is so friendly! One staff member in particular, Danny, is a hoot and a half in a cooky kind of way. I love this place!

Tootling around downtown Prescott after an afternoon of lunching and antiquing, we did not expect to happen upon a mead tasting place. After perusing the many flavored salts of upstairs (where I was sadly forbidden to purchase more flavored salt by the partner as I seem to have a problem considering the contents of our spice cupboard), we headed downstairs entirely curious at the concept of a meadery. The vibe of this place is fantastic, modern, warm, minimalist. I've had mead many times in various different locales; This place was by far the most pleasant experience. The mead is a bit on the dry side in general, but the different flavors are really fun to taste. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the Safeword- BDSM (Belgium Dark Strong Mead, I think?) and enjoying our time at the cozy bar. We will definitely return for a glass of mead or fruit cider as well as as a small plate the next time we're in Prescott! (Also, PLEASE bottle the blueberry cider! It was so good!)

I have been hearing good things about his place and I finally had a chance to stop in tonight.I loved the atmosphere. It is in the basement of the Olde Capitol Building. Super cozy and inviting. Comfy chairs. I have never had mead before (mead is an alcoholic drink made from honey and served from bottles like wine is served from). I am not a wine drinker, so I was sure I wouldn't like anything! Wrong. Justin really listened to my concerns and what I thought I might like. He then recommended the Tahitian Honeymoon (made from honey and vanilla). YUMMY! (I did ask what the alcoholic content is and it is 13-1/2%) I can't wait to go back and try some more. I will be picking a full bottle to serve at Thanksgiving.

Inviting, cozy, and warm atmosphere. A tasting for each mead (made in house) are $2-3 but having a flight of 12 for $24 was the perfect amount for me and my fiancé to share. The staff was friendly and interested in sharing their knowledge about mead. Fun little place to hunker down for an evening!

Ok, first of all, I will say that the guy who rated this 2 stars needs to re-visit the meadery. Dry and bitter? What the hell!? Not even close. Do they make a few dry ones? Yes? But holy shit, almost all of them are sweet, decadent and delicious. This place is so cool, the owners are so nice, the staff is incredible and the meads? WORLD CLASS. End of story.

This place is great to bring out-of-towners. We come here about once a month because it's such a cool lounge atmosphere. Sometimes it's slow to get food and they don't offers ton of options but I hear they're getting a full dinner menu soon?? They have live music on occasion and several times they've toured us in the back of the Meadery to explain the different methods and batches they're making. The owners seem really nice too. A very unexpected cool place! They told us they won second place internationally for Mead too. Some flavored we don't like but they're always experimenting and they seem very passionate about what they do. We've taken several of their bottles to give as Christmas gifts this last winter and and the recipients seemed to love how unique our Mead gifts were. This place gift wrapped them for us for free too.

Like the concept but not much of a fan of mead.... too sweet for me & not much else in the way of cocktails.

My boyfriend and I decided to go up to Prescott for a night and we were looking up places to go to. My boyfriend said he wanted to try this place and I agreed. That was a great decision! I had never tried mead and when I left the restaurant, I was wishing I bought a bottle. As well, the food was delicious! Next time I visit Prescott, this is the place I will go to for good food and good mead! We even got a tour of meadery and learned a lot about mead. We went to other places around the town and this was my favorite place. Great atmosphere, too! It is a comfy lounge atmosphere. I already started recommending this place to friends and family and I went just yesterday! This is a place everyone must visit!

Last time i will ever go to this place, took 45 min just to get our wine and an hour to get just a simple meat board which consisted of a few pieces of meat which was a total rip-off, service is horrible, they DO NOT HAVE THEIR ACT TOGETHER, and the food portions are a joke!

This was an unexpected find in Prescott. I know nothing about mead so I had few expectations but was more than pleasantly surprised. Staff was great, atmosphere was ideal for relaxing, and the mead was tasty plus the spectrum of flavors was great, something for everyone. Cider was good too, only downside was the limit on what you could buy and take away.

Started coming here when they opened and haven't looked back! I first tried mead in Germany and fell in love! When I moved to prescott I was so happy when I found a meadery so close and the fact that superstition makes some of the BEST Mead!! The atmosphere is quite and quaint! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you have never tried Mead I highly recommend giving it a try!! You will be hooked after your first drink!!

Amazing staff that are willing to school you in the history of mead! Marion berry is the best!

I've tried a few of their meads, and as someone who's been drinking mead for the better part of 20 years, I have to say... meh. Just not particularly good. Most of their meads are VERY dry, to the point of being bitter. The only one I've enjoyed even a little was their maple mead, and even that was very dry. While I love that we have a local meadery here, it's unfortunate that their product is so niche to the point that unless you enjoy a very dry wine, you're probably not going to like what they're serving.
