This place is awesome! Great beer, great food, great service what more could you ask for. We were visiting Prescott for the weekend and had to get lunch here twice and get a growler filled twice because the food and beer were both so delicious! We got the beef and beer cheese sandwich and the Italian sandwich both superb. The Black Cow Milk Stout and Bombshell Blonde were out favorite beers, we got two growlers of the Bombshell Blonde. If you are in Prescott it is a place you need to go to!

A brewery can live or die on one thing: whether or not they are able to throw out a beer that went bad in the brewing process. The sour beer they currently have on is a mix of prickly pear and stomach bile. This is not a sour beer, it is an infected beer. I gave 2 stars because I'd be willing to try again, based on a friend's recommendation that sometimes they have good beer.

A friend and I went here and we were not impressed. I liked the atmosphere and that's really it. Service was slow and inattentive. My friend did not like either of the beers he had, and I did not like the wine I ordered. I know it's a brewery, but offer a chardonnay on the menu or a pinot grigio instead of two white wine blends. I ordered the green chile hummus plate. It took a long time to get to me, although the place was certainly not busy. It completely lacked flavor, storebought is better, and I was turned off that it was served to me on a paper plate. After leaving three quarters of the hummus on my plate, the server asks if I want a piece of foil to wrap it up in. I said no. She says "oh, you didn't care for it" and I again said no. And that was it...no apology, no more questions, didn't try to make it right...just took it away. Finally we flag her down yet again and asked for our check. Here's the weirdest part...she leaves and comes back and verbally tells us the total of $21.50. There was no paper check! Ever, at all! So were left to sit there and verbally add up our order. I have never been to a restaurant that doesn't provide some form of written or printed bill. We left very dissatisfied and we will not be returning.

I've been wanting to go to this brewery because I've had their beer at various breweries in Phoenix. There beer is usually very good however it seems as though their kegs were not cold enough. As the bartender poured my beer nothing but foam would come out and the beer was warm. It was still delicious but I was really wanting a cold beer. Their sandwiches were pleasantly and unexpected delicious. A cold beer would have earned the fifth star.

Great patio, great ambience and great service. Had the indepencia which was very different from my IPA norm, but was delish. Heavy nutmeg aroma but a very smooth taste that did not overpower the beer. Will be coming back for sure. Loved sitting out on the patio.

Meh. I've been here twice in a year. I've sampled two full rounds of their beer selections from different brew batches. Across the board, twice now, every beer they serve lacks body. The carbonation is way too loose too. It's as if they water it down or something. Maybe they skimp on the barley malt (body)? Maybe there's something amiss at the final, carbonation stage? IDK... I really want to like this place. The atmosphere, decor, the food menu, the people are all top notch. But, if you're going to be a brew pub, then your beer has to be tops too. Sorry, I can only give two stars for "Meh!"

This place used to be a newsstand back in the day where many good times were had...if walls could talk. So the vibe here is just waiting for NEW good times to be had. Having been that newsstand employee I officially bless this place with the spirit of what used to be. The owners are hard working people who know what they're doing in the micro-brewing world. Prescott could use that competition allowing locals the choice of relaxing while having a hometown tasty beverage in hand. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the actual customized handmade wooden bar is absolutely incredible! There's a back yard to drink and eat in the outdoors during the warmer months (just ask), it's well worth checking out. The geographically appropriate Thumb Butte American Brown Ale is my favorite here. GOOD LUCK GMB!

Went in for lunch when out for a visit to Prescott. Beer was good, small menu but good choices and prices were good. Always like to try new places when visiting and this was a great find.

Great place for craft beer lovers! Visiting Prescott and stopped in here. Try a flight of all 5 of their taps. Love the atmosphere too!

Great beer and great people. I really enjoyed this pace and think you will to. So next time your in Prescott check them out. You will be glad that you did.

Great craft brews served by fun people. Note, this is not a full-service restaurant, but there is a rotating selection of "small plate" foods. Great place to have a beer before going to a local restaurant. The place feels more like a local coffee shop than a beer. Glad to have another microbrew in town.

Here today for the first time. Nice to have a new brew house in town. Staff is really friendly & made us laugh. Muddy milk stout was just perfect. Cute little patio out back that reminded me of my grandpas Brooklyn brownstone patio when I was a kid. Nice urban feel ...for Prescott anyway

This is a fun chill little bar on Whiskey Row. I ordered some mead, since it sounded interesting, and I had never tried it. It was $10.50 but a delicious mead, and from Arizona. My sister ordered a cream ale and enjoyed it. She also used the Yelp check in for the coupon of $1 off. I am unsure what the food menu entails; we had already eaten elsewhere. There were board games throughout and comfortable seating to play a game. We played Scrabble for a while. The bartenders were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly.

Great beer. Great people. Granite Mountain Brewing is a much welcomed addition to the AZ micro-brew scene. Every beer I have tried there is unique, flavorful and worth buying a growler full of. I have yet to try the food, other than the appetizers, but I have heard great things. To top off the experience, all of the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of what they're serving. Cheers to GMB!

2nd visit: Tried an appetizer this time- eh? I've had better. I still love the fact they have comfy couches or chairs. It's not super loud so you can actually hear yourself talking. I enjoyed yet another tasty stout and service was good. The guy that brought out the food was really nice but the girl behind the bar wasn't as nice- I was about to ask her a question regarding the menu and she walked away to laugh with someone which I thought was a bit rude. On the fence about going back.

Great atmosphere. Sit outside if it's nice! Food was delicious. Beer was great. Service was good! All around great experience! We will be back!!

Good food reasonably priced, good beer, games for the kids to play, and really great music. This was a good choice, we'll definitely be back.

What a great little brewery on Whiskey Row in Prescott! My sis and I ended up there on a Thursday evening, which happened to be "Duff" night. I got a pint of their choosing for only $3 (and an additional $1 off for checking in on Yelp - thank you!), and it ended up being the Cowtipper Cream Ale. The ale was a perfect end to my day. The bar was a good size, and they had some additional things on tap. They also offer mead from Superstition, which was cool to see local breweries supporting one another. The bar also has a small menu, but we had just eaten so we didn't try anything. The bartenders were both super friendly, and the vibe was chill. They also had some games up front, so my family and I played some old school Scrabble (apparently playing Words With Friends has given me NO skills when it comes to Scrabble - my mom kicked our butts). Loved this place, and I definitely recommend stopping in. Don't forget to check in on Yelp!

  • Greg W.

stopped in here on saturday night before dinner elsewhere really nice place! long bar with outdoor and indoor seating as well looked like they had 4-5 beers of their own on tap and maybe 4-5 guest beers plus mead i sampled the ipa but ultimately had the motheroad ipa from a flagstaff brewer on the guest tap service was attentive atmosphere was great and there was a wide variety of people from hipsters to families to regular old prescott locals and tourists had nice conversations with several of the patrons at the bar as well as the bartender i was just in town for the weekend but would visit again for sure a refreshingly upscale place relative to some of the divey biker bars in the area

  • Jamie G.

The Blueberry Spaceship Box Cider is amazing!! Quiet little bar with neat local art on the walls and excellent small batch brews. They even have mead! Bartender Sean was laid back yet attentive and the handful of guests here were an eclectic mix. Ill definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Small barrel operation with solid beers. These guys are hustling, and it's worth the trip. If you're near Prescott and are craving the spirit of Mother Road, try this place out.

We have been coming here since they opened. A great place with friendly people and most importantly great beer. Come on in and have a pint or two!

This will be my second time here and so far is hasn't disappointed. The house blonde ale is something to try for your first time here. So many selections of house brews and guest brews also and live music. Live the environment.

What a great little find just off the main square in Prescott! This little micro brewery, we were told, is a community project (which is awesome). My Mom and I stopped in, like Stewart, on Mothers day. Their bar top is beautiful, and has plenty of seating. They also have a bunch of little couch areas, great for bigger groups. Our bartender was very, very nice and gave us a few samples to try before we picked our actual beers. My Mom tried a small Muddy Wash Milk Stout. It was a little heavy for her, but she liked it, as did I since I got to finish it. It seemed a bit on the lighter side, but still very good. I had a Thumb Butte American Brown Ale. This, was very very good. I was expecting to get more chocolate from it than I did, but was impressed that the caramel came thru more. They also have live music here! Now, if youre stopping in for a pint and youre not from Prescott, be prepared for one of the local Prescottownians to talk your ear off about what an awesome place this is. And it is!

Enjoyable brewery to drop by for a beer or two. The bartender we had was a complete saint. She was willing to let these extremely annoying, snobby folks try about 10 different items before most of them chose something. Beer selection is nice, ambiance is a good setting for a brewery. The beer was good overall as well. It was too bad there weren't more people in here on a weekend nite. This is definitely a great place to drop by for one or two pints. Maybe not the place to hang for 3-4 hours but plenty fine with a few friends for an hour. I'd definitely come back when in town in the future.

Great local brewey! Beers were on point. I loved the Saison and Stout. They also have other local guest taps.

As someone who visits breweries every place I visit I was a little disappointed. Nice beer garden out back. Will probably be back when different beers on tap, but not impressed. I'm editing my review because went back to try new brews on tap and LOVED the Pumpkin beer!

  • Monica J.

The beer was good, but not the best. However, I LOVED the brewery itself. The was a long bartop with a sensuous curve to it made from beautiful wood shellac'd to a high shine. The stools were comfy and a footrest below made them even more so. Great mood lighting with white light fixtures made from bottles and other found objects. On the opposite wall from the bar was some lower seating. Comfy couches and chairs with glass top tables looked perfect for groups or couples wanting a little private area. On the walls was an eclectic collection of art, most of which appeared to be for sale. The music was subtle and not blaring and overall it was just a really relaxing environment. My hubby said that it was a "girl bar". I can see why since it sort of felt more like a wine bar than your typical brewery. I'm told it does get a little more upbeat later in the evening (we were there around 5-6pm). We didn't try the food since we were meeting family for dinner later but I did get a beer sampler. Here are my thoughts on what I tried. Bradshaw Blonde Ale - this tasted more like a lager or pilsner to me than an ale. Very light, very clear. Not really a whole lot of flavor. I'd probably be a good choice for a summer afternoon in the sun. Hot Shot American Red Ale - pretty dark in color for a red, this was a bitter hoppy beer with a bit of sweetness to it. It grew on me as I drank it, though and I have to say I'd order it again. Thumb Butte American Brown Ale - I thought I'd like this better than I did based on the description. My palate couldn't really pick up the chocolate and caramel very well. It did have a very toasty flavor to it that was nice. Pulaski Porter - Always love a good porter. This one had that pleasant slightly bitter black coffee taste to it. Perhaps just a bit too bitter. Muddy Wash Milk Stout - This one was a bit of disappointment to me. Usually I love a good milk stout. This one just did not have the right texture to it. I did taste the sweetness from lactose but there was no creaminess to it. It was too dry basically. Description said it had less hops then Guiness but I don't think that is true just based on taste since I also thought this one was just slightly too bitter. Juniper Mesa Rye Pale Ale - I saved this one for last, expecting to hate it but to my surprise this ended up being my favorite. I usually don't go for pale ales at all since I just can't tolerate that much hoppy flavor. But in this case, even though the hops were there for sure, they were toned down and balanced out by the spicy citrus notes in the beer. Description said there was some juniper as well and I could for sure taste that, too. I guess maybe this is a good beer for a gin drinker? It sort of reminded me of Magic Hat's #9 beer... which they describe as a "not quite pale ale" I look forward to drinking this one again.

Last night my husband and I went out to Granite Mountain to hear some of our great local musicians play. It was sad, we thought we were going out for adult night instead we walked into a nursery of fretting children. There were two different groups of parents with babies and small children one in the back of the pub and the other in the middle of the room. One little baby couldn't have been more than a few months old. We stayed for one pint and left. Here is the deal, adults will stay buy dinner and a couple of rounds in a brewery. But the nursery crowd will drink water, or one person in the group will nurse a beer for as long as they can. Hey business owner, want to increase your profit line make a point of catering the adults in the room and suggest that parents get a babysitter. Those little babies should have been asleep in their beds at that time of night anyway. Atmosphere is important.

I really wanted to like Granite Mountain, I really did, but it was just pretty average. I checked out the website prior to my visit to Prescott and it seemed pretty cool. I asked my family members that live in town how it was but none of them had been there. We ended up having a group of 9 go check it out and although nobody hated it, nobody really loved it either. The service was just ok, not very outgoing and didn't do that great of a job telling us about the beers. A few didn't have what type/style they were listed and when I asked the answers weren't that great. I ended up getting tasters of maybe 8 or so and nothing really stood out to me. I tried the cider and the meads they had as well. One of the meads was really bad. I know this is not their own mead but they should do a little bit better on the quality control of what they are serving. I don't think I would come back he when I next visit the area.

I'm here on a visit from California, and the local influence, Dad, said we shpuld try it. Just a couple years old, and the brews done on-site are quite good. I tried the Oatmeal Pale and Thumb Butte American Brown. The pale was fine. I'm not writing home about it. The brown had a more unique kick. **recommended** The bar is curvy, unusual, and kind of stands out from the rest of the fixtures in the bar. It's a Kickstarter/community-supported brewery, and they've got a tile of supporters on the wall in the back that looks colorfully like a bunch of Starburst candies. There's a "Mug Club" for a yearly subscription that gives you discounts on the beer and access to special events and such.

Yeah, so hubs went in and tried the Sampler. I went in and tried a couple of them. The brews were good, but I removed 2 stars for the very impersonal, ahem, non-existent service. We were the only customers at the bar, and there a were some chairs stewn about the place, you know, wood floors, very industrial-chic. My kids had to wait outside, as did my dog. Ok, fine. We didn't really feel welcomed if you want to know the truth. Usually, you get a little explanation about what your are drinking, maybe an anecdote or two, or a "Hey where you from?" or "hey how did you like that porter?" Here, nuthin' nada, zip. It was like, Yeah here's your brewski dude....whatevs.... The place was a little bare, I think they had just opened. I don't think they served any food yet. (This was back in November 2012) Look I get the "El Casual" 'tude, like we are hip, man, vibe...but I think Granite Mtn took it a bit too far. Not really a place I'd remember fondly, or likely to return to.

Basing my review off of one visit and one beer.....but first impressions are important. Liked the atmosphere, though it was surprisingly empty on a Saturday evening. If I lived in Prescott, I'd way rather hang out here than at some of the places on Whiskey Row. Lots of board games on the shelf, comfy couches and chairs...very laid back place overall. Staff was friendly and helpful. The stout that I had was very good, and my wife enjoyed her IPA. Would definitely come back on my next time through town.

Great service and prices! The bartender let us try a few of the options before making our choice. You can have three small glasses [8oz] (except the speciality options like mead and cider, which bummed me out) for $6 or a pint of one for $7. They also have some food options like sandwiches.

What do you do when you're not quite ready for dinner and it is too late for lunch but are thirsty? Come in here! There was a nice band playing music, comfy couches, and regular pub style tables adorning this little brewery in downtown Prescott. I enjoyed an Oatmeal-chocolate stout. Everyone can enjoy their wheat beers and IPAs but I am a fan of stouts. I think it's because they're so thick, and full bodied, and remind me of a dessert. If you're on the go, they also sell Growlers of their many types of beer. I wanted to try their seasonal, but they were all out by late Saturday afternoon. They also offer some small bites in case you want something to snack on while beer drinking. I didn't get to try anything though since we just decided to drink, and were going to get dinner somewhere else that evening. The overall atmosphere is really laid back. I could easily see how people could lose track of time and spend hours here. My goal next time is to try their beer sampler.

This has become a "MUST" stop every time we go to Prescott, which we visit often from Phoenix. Love the atmosphere and the beer! Always a good variety of beer. Perfect place to relax with the whole family, with over sized couches and sitting areas where you can gather around and play games. We have also sat in their patio, which is so nice and relaxing. They do not serve food, just snacks, so this is the perfect place to go before or after dinner. We love Granite Mountain Brewing!

  • Holly M.

This is that cool hang out that you just come & enjoy with friends after work. Becareful though, the hours are limited & the days. I believe opening at 4pm Thursday thru Sunday. Not that you need a beer at 3, but options are nice on a Friday afternoon. So there are some noshes. We haven't partaken yet, but they were simple and looked good. Now lets talk beer. The Muddy Wash ..is like a Guinness Milk Stout. It is ridiculously tasty. Not over bearing like you can get in some milk stouts or dark beers. The others are just as good, but to be honest the Muddy Wash Milk Stout ran away with my heart. So this place is loud, get cozy if you are going to chat, there is also a small terraced patio that is gorgeous when the weather permits. I love seeing a new brewery work it's way into our hearts! Raise a pint & heres to their success & many more pints of their delicious creations.

Beckyfest. Happy hour. Craft Beer! OMG! Heaven! They've been open for about 2 years in Prescott. Nice space. Good acoustics. Owners are chill. Can't say enough about this place. Totally enchanting.

Beer was above average and the people that worked there were awesome. A beautiful bar top. My only knock against the place is no tv. No a huge deal but I want watch World Cup and have a good beer. I really enjoyed their vanilla porter.

Best place to relax with the family and have a cold pint. Red ale is very good and always have a great selection. Very family friendly with lots of games for the kids.

Great original Brews. Also great for kids! We shared a lovely beer flight with pretzels while the kids munched and played with toys. Yes, they have a modern kids area with toys. Rock stars. We LOVED their milk stout. Even better than Left Hand's. The bar and lounge areas are superb; fairly modern and well done. The outside entrance is very plain and easy to miss unfortunately. First visit to Prescott but this may magnetize our return. Cheers! -Ross in PHX

We had the Thumb Butte Nut Brown Ale and it was pretty tasty, not as good as Oak Creek Brewing Nut Brown Ale, but close. There was a duo singing folk songs and they were so loud that we couldn't hear each other. A suggestion, turn down the volume a little and maybe people will stay longer, we left after 1 beer. Cool sculptures made out of beer mugs and wine bottle light fixtures, though. Would have stayed on the back patio but it was raining...

Amazing beer, wonderful staff, comforting atmosphere. I absolutely adore this place, it is my go-to spot for all things beer. Check it out :)

Wow. Love the atmosphere, the comfortable seating, the music, the beer, and the small bites (we got pork nachos) were fabulous. I'd definitely come back here. This would be a suitable stop for couples, families, young and old...really anyone who wants to kick back in a little hipster twist on brew pubs. Will definitely be stopping by more frequently now... :)

This place wasn't around last time I was in town.... awesome! The town was shutting down a little early on mothers day but my mom and I were determined to find something. A local, she had talked about GMB and we decided to pop in. It was 6:05 and they closed at around 6 but you wouldn't of known it. A nice women made us feel right at home and told us she could definitely get us in for 1 round! Really cool! I had the espresso stout and my mom and dad had the milk stout. One of the best beers I've had for that price point! Out back is amazing, you gotta grab a brew and a seat out back.... enjoy. Pleasant, unassuming, friendly, accommodating and really delivers. I feel like the decor will catch up to business as it ages. I hope they do well!

Absolutely loved my experience here! Both my husband and I ordered a full flight of their beers and a panini. The food was very good and I enjoyed every beer. The best part was having the whole experience in their patio area. I will definitely visit again.

We found this great spot as we were walking around downtown Prescott, AZ and were so glad we stopped in. I like the atmosphere here a lot more than the bigger Prescott Brewing Company around the corner. The only reason I did not give it an excellent rating is because I haven't found any amazing beers there yet. They have had some good ones and there is always something new to try each time you go in and I look forward to the trip there when I find an amazing brew! Definitely recommend a stop in here. They also have one of the most amazing bar tops I have ever seen!

  • Ashley P.

This was the first place my hubs and I went to when we got into town. The place was absolutely adorable. It reminded me more of a coffee shop than a brewery because of the big comfy couches and coffee tables. We got the pretzels and mustard, and spend bread and cheese sauce. Both dipping sauces were phenomenal. The pretzels were regular, hard, storebought pretzels. But for $3, no biggie. The beer was good. My hubs is a homebrewer so super picky. He had the IPA and only thought it was okay. I had the flight of the blonde, brown and milk stout. The brown was a bit too hoppy for me. Overall the ambiance of this place is what I think I enjoyed the most.

  • Karl P.

Just what a small brewery should be! Clean setting with a relaxed atmosphere. Their beers are in small 100 gallon batches, and except for their "flagships" can change frequently. They try a lot of unique and single run recipes. The staff is very nice and friendly. Being a homebrewer myself, I thought it was great that one of the owners talked to me about how they got their start and some of their brewing techniques. Definitely stop by here when you are in downtown Prescott for a more mellow and intimate experience with craft beer.

Great beers. Love the Muddy Milk Stout. The hosts were accommodating and let us stay past close. Great selection of board games.

As a frequent visitor to the Prescott area, I am glad to see another brewery in town. The beer was great! The Thumb Butte Brown and Some Bloke's (Ordinary) Bitter really stood out. GMB's taproom is both inviting and visually appealing, not to mention they have a patio! (something I feel is lacking from the downtown area). Though, It would be nice if dogs were allowed on the patio. When I was there, Damon and Audra were behind the counter and made me feel very welcome. Like others have said, great beer and great people. Definitely a place I will visit again!

  • Evan S.

This place makes really nice beer and has friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and a decent(though small) patio. The American brown ale is smooth, but quite hoppy, and the stout is really nice. Great place to get a drink.

  • Jordan C.

This chill spot is just around the corner from whiskey row in Prescott, but it feels miles away. It's a chill spot with an outdoor patio, bluegrass bands, board games, and an active fermenter in the corner of the bar--I really liked it. The service was very good and unpretentious, the selection was good (they had all 6 beers offered), and will get better when their liquor license is upgraded soon. The value is good (10.50 for 6 5oz tasters) and I liked it miles better than "prescott brewing company" just for the atmosphere. The beers are good, especially the light ones. The dark beer is still a bit undeveloped, but they've only beer around for a year, so I expect them to improve.
