As usual Yelpers are full of crap. Casa Sanchez is a great little place in Prescott. The salsa is a different kind of salsa than most places serve, it is much more soupy and not chunky or pico de galla style. But it tastes fantastic! The chile relleno is made the way chile rellenos should be made, with very little batter to take away from the taste of the chile. Chile relleno's are not supposed to be hot as another reviewer suggested. I would be willing to bet big money that if he had of asked the chef to make him a hot relleno they would have gladly obliged by putting red pepper flakes inside the relleno. The beans and rice both have authentic taste and the cheese enchilada was very good also. I ate some of my wifes shrimp taco and I know it is hard to make a bad shrimp taco but it was mui bueno also. All in all I would have to say that I love this place and they make great Margarita's also so don't listen to people who haven't learned what their mother told them long ago. In fact more Yelpers need to learn that if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all. And please remember that there are real people on the other side of your review!

I gave a two star for the dish I ordered. I ordered carnitas tacos. The carnitas was over cooked on the flat grill, dry and charred. Service was attentive and the server made several appearances to check on our needs, service was good.

This place is awesome. Been coming here for years for the Chile relleno burrito and the albondigas soup. Now every time I'm in Prescott I have to come here for the Albondigas as it is nearly impossible to find it in Sacramento where I now live.

Everything here is great. Have to make a trip here everytime we come to town! Never have had any complaints and the staff is always welcoming and friendly! Burritos are huge and delicious! Must try if you are in prescott!

Good food, good service, pleasant clean atmosphere. For me, I like my food spicier but I understand my tongue must be partly numb from all the years of eating spicy foods. So, for most people it is probably just right. Asking for the picante salsa helps a lot. It is not often that you go to a mexican restaurant these days and order an enchilada chili relleno combo plate with a nice dinner salad for under $10. You also get a generous helping of tasty chips and salsa too. This place is easy to find but is tucked in the back end of Prescott on Gurley Street near Thumb Butte. Business on this end of town seems to be a bit slow so you might want to track up this way and give these guys a try.

I am allergic to onions and ask a lot of questions so I know what I am getting. Was misinformed and then they offered to try to be careful and give me sauce without onions, but being allergic that does not help me. Decor was run down and I had some concerns about cleanliness.

Haven't been there for three years.. place was oacked. The chips and salsa was average. They did keep refilling the chips . Their guacamole was very good . Tried their green chilli burritos . The meat was a little dry. Service was good . Rice and beans did not have much flavor

Shame on CASA Sanchez! I've been a customer to this restaurant over 7 yrs in Prescott and 15 in California. The food remains good but watch your bill and clarify prices on specials including margaritas and happy hour. This restaurant is playing car lot tactics! Shame shame shame! We paid 40.00 for a burrito, tostado a la carte with two happy hour margaritas! Never again! Sorry just can't believe they've done this :(

The food is always consistent. The beef fajita is exceptional, wether in a burrito, a fajita platter, or my favorite the fajita quesadilla. The machaca beef anything, also delicious. Family favorites include albondiga soup, campachana cocktail, and green chile. Also, the green corn tamale is awesome. The salsa is fresh with great flavor and just the right amount of heat. Chicken enchiladas

I've always enjoyed this place to eat, however, today, I was disappointed that the server sort of misled us on the price of the happy hour margaritas. Apparently there is a happy hour price and thee is a "large margarita" price. Bottom line is that 3.50 margaritas turned into 5.50 margaritas. Oh well, not a big deal but 6 margaritas lead to a difference of $12 bucks

I was so impressed with their chile relleno, great taste and filling. It's so hard to find a place that makes them properly and Casa Sanchez does an outstanding job. I also had a taco and it was huge and delicious. We had great service and decent prices. I can't wait to try additional items on the menu.

Went for dinner, large group. Popular place. The chips were tasty, darker than most. The salsa was ok, but too many onions for me. I had a combination, came with soup or salad, I got salad - just iceberg lettuce with a few strings of red cabbage. I had iced tea, everyone got large red glasses and the straw just came to the top of the glass, so you had to fish it out every time you wanted a drink! My combo was a chicken soft taco and green corn tamale with rice and beans. It was all average, but the taco was wrapped in foil so it was really soggy and very messy! I have never seen that done before, normally just on the plate. Manuel's still has the best green corn tamales and green sauce. The flautas another person got were huge, 8-10" long! We had to flag the waitress down for drink refills!

Great food. Good service. Gets better every time I go. I have the pork fajitas and you can't beat it. Plenty of food. I would recommend with five stars.

Went in with a group from work because a friend said "they have the best margaritas in town". Sounded promising! The margaritas were very good. But nothing else was. The salsa was red water with a few bits in it. Chips were oily and musky. Food in general was blah. The flan was funny tasting flan-flavored jello. Service was slow, uncaring, unfriendly, and... well 'service' is not the correct word for what the staff member who interfaced with us did. Wow, I was not prepared for how horrible this was I just got a bad feel about the place in general too, so later on I checked the County Health Inspection records on line. It appears as though in the past 2 years Casa Sanchez has had 7 routine inspections and failed 4 of those for critical food violations including improper food handling, storage and temperature. One of those inspections required 3 follow up with more violations until they go it right. The most recent one this year was a fail too. Having been in food service management in AZ (in my younger days) for many years, this says to me that they just don't care about established safety practices. I will never eat here again. The friend continues to go here, I guess after a buttload of margaritas, none of that other stuff probably matters. - I you feel this review is Useful, Funny, or Cool, please check the boxes below. Thanks

Didn't feel like cooking, so I grabbed some takeout. had their minuto soup, cheese enchilada and chile relleno. Everything was fantastic, inside the restaurant is a little dirty however that's pretty common for this area.

Best Mexican restaurant in Prescott. Great food, great service combined with great atmosphere makes this a restaurant worthy of a visit.

Locals tend to recommend this restaurant. I thought it was very average Mexican food. The green chili was not anything I would've expected. It was a blended tomatillo with cilantro green chili sauce that was way too mild.

Favorites are the Albondigas soup, chili verde and the chicken salad. Prices are moderate. Drinks are good. A weekly treat.

Awful, inauthentic, reheated, and just plain-old terrible. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, but the food was bad. I had a Burrito Colorado, and I couldn't find a thing about it I liked. No real flavor to it, the beef was hard and chewy, the sauce was watery and gross... All in all, just a horrid meal. I tried to eat (was hungry and in a hurry) but even after years of Army food I couldn't choke down the crap they're serving at Casa Sanchez.

Two stars because my wife liked the whole fried fish. Been here twice and both times my food was terrible. Chile relleno, tacos, cheese enchilada, and the carne asada. I actually returned the carne asada because it was terrible. The texture of the meat gave me the willys, and the red sauce it was in was terrible. They brought me a relleno and enchilada that were inedible. This is the worst Mexican food I have ever attempted to eat. It is a rarity for me to return food, but this was plain bad. I will never return to this place. I can't fathom how they stay in business with food this bad..

  • Rickey K.

I judge Mexican food by how hot the chips are and how fresh the salsa is. Casa Sanchez understands this well. A healthy yet proper serving of beans and rice made my cheese enchilada combo meal just right. Glad to enjoy this great Mexican spot while visiting Prescott.

After reading the reviews, we trundled over to the restaurant. Uh-oh not one non-white person was dining. We found out why. In general the food was not Mexican. The tamale for example tasted and looked to be a slice of cornbread from a box, stuffed with shredded chicken in sweet bbq sauce. It resembled a child's Easy Bake Oven recipe. Similar comments could be levied at all the dishes we tried. The soups were a different story. They were fresh, hot and delicious with a heritage that pointed to Mexico. The margaritas were so syrupy to be undrinkable. The Blue Moon might be the best because it seemed to have more alcohol to cut through some of the sweetness. Our waitress said she could make us one without sugar but she never produced one. My guess is the Sanchez family had to adapt recipes to appeal to the local tastes. While interesting to see how a restaurant adapts to stay in business I didn't find it particularly tasty. Add that to the toothache inducing Margaritas and I don't see myself returning. 2 stars craptastic. Mike

If there were zero stars that's what they would get. I've been there with my wife twice because restaurants deserve a second chance. I won't be returning. The food was the most awful attempt at mexican I've ever had. Very bland, no flavor or kick. The service was equally poor as our waitress was somewhere other than serving people. Poor service with crappy food . Don't waste your time or money. But also good luck finding good Mexican food in Prescott as I am still looking...

The food is bland and tasteless. It used to be so so but in the last couple of years has really gone downhill. Does not even taste like Mexican. Shame, shame. You never see any hispanics in this place. Went there because friends wanted to but will never go with my family or if I am choosing.

I live down the block from this place and thought I should try it. I was a little nervous at first, as it is basically in the parking lot of a gas station. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter got a quesadilla that she loved so much that she ordered another. The prices were very reasonable.

I guess this is a decent place to eat, not terrible but not great. However, in a city as small as Prescott, sometimes you've got to take what you can get. On an upside, the staff at Casa Sanchez is always friendly and helpful. I've yet to have bad service or a grumpy, crabby server. Service gets an A for effort. One of my biggest complaints is that the chips taste like they just came out of a bag and the salsa is so watery and tastes only of black pepper. One of my favorite things of going out to eat for Mexican food is chips and salsa - big disappointment. My daughter and I split a combo plate. We ordered a cheese enchilada, a pork tamale and a shredded beef taco, it came with soup too!. The taco was actually one of the best tacos I've had in a long time. Casa Sanchez definitely does NOT skimp on meat! It was stuffed with yummy beef. The enchilada was made with a corn tortilla - my favorite way, but the sauce was sweet. Bleck. The pork tamale was decent, not great, but okay. The sauce on the tamale was GREAT! Had I of known how good it would be, I would have asked to have it on the enchilada as well! Good service, decent food. We will probably go back in the future but it isn't one of those places that you think about and crave going. Somewhere between, "Meh, I've had better" and "It was fine."

Nothing wrong, but nothing to write about. Almost utterly drab. In both food and appearance. Largely tourist & retire clientele.

Good food, great service at very reasonable prices. The food is what I would call 'home-style Mexican'. Not overly spicy or made with elaborate sauces or garnishes. Just fresh hearty portions served the way you want. Great burritos, chimis, tacos, enchiladas, great meat and chicken dishes. I love the burritos, carnitas, and huevos rancheros. I've never tried any of the seafood offerings. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. One of my favorite features is that they are very good about tailoring the food to you individual requests. If a dish comes with ranchero sauce and you want salsa verde, you got it. If you want Culinary Institute food this is not the place for you. But if you like hearty, fresh dishes, good guacamole, fast friendly service at very reasonable prices this is the casa for you.

The Blue Moon Margarita is amazing and they actually put a decent amount of alcohol in their drinks, which is a nice switch. We've never had anything that we didn't like although many of their standard dishes are just that, standard; their specialties really are pretty special though. The carnitas are some of the best I've had and my hubby is making his way through their selection of unique shrimp dishes and so far is very pleased.

The best Mexican food we have found since moving to Northern Arizona 5 years ago. We moved from Indio, California where the population is about 80% Hispanic and bad Mexican restaurants just don't survive. I am used to the best and casa Sanchez is the only place we have found worth the visit. Here you will find the best Huevos rancheros, the best Menudo, the best seven seas soup and Chiles Rellenos. The margaritas are great except the restaurant seats do not come with seatbelts (so be careful). I have to admit that I haven't tried any other Mexican restaurants in the Prescott area, because this place is so good and I get Prescott so rarely.

I always stop here as soon as I arrive in town. Used to be called Panchos, and I still call it Panchos! It's my understanding that when the previous owners were going to sell, the employees bought it. Cool. Great beef tacos (I don't usually eat beef!), great fish dishes, and my secret indulgence - cheese crisps - they don't have 'em here where I live (good thing too!).

Bang for the buck this is a decent place. I've never been disappointed by the wait staff, and the only downside to the food is that it is a bit on the bland side. Good flautas, decent chimis, and pretty good chile rellenos. The menudo is iffy, so opt for the albondigas if given a soup option. Super good chips with a decent salsa. A surprisingly large restaurant, which makes it great for groups.

For an out of the way Sunday lunch that includes Margaritas, lots of chips and salsa plus genuine Arizona Style mexican food, Casa Sanchez is a good find if you know where to look. The outside appearance of the building made we wary at first, once inside the latin staff made me feel like I had found "Little Mexico" just a few miles west of downtown. The salsa and guacamole were fresh , the margaritas were made with real lime juice and a major ingredient in most dishes, I'm sure, was lard.......but you have to use lard if you want authentic mexican flavor. Service was prompt and the entrees' were quick to arrive. High back booth had me waiting for the mariachis to begin, but they never showed. Ah carumba

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
