Don't let the sketchy outside fool you, inside is clean and service was good. I had the Cuban sandwich and the two others I was with (one from Miami) got the vaca frita. Both advised their plates were also good. We went from lunch around noon and the joint was empty, but we are thinking it might be more of a local dinner joint. Although, if you live around here, you know everywhere is slammed at noon - so this was a nice relief from long lines and just average food. PS - looks like a night club in the back half...not sure what is up with that.

Great service. Great service. Great service. My wife and I had never had Cuban food and were flying by the seat of our pants a little bit. Our server walked us through the whole menu and explained everything to us. When we got our food, we were more than impressed with the awesomeness of our food. If you like tropical food with a Mexican flair, this is the place for you. It is a great departure from chain monotony.

We like this place! Not the "hole in the wall" I had been led to believe, More the hidden gem type. Small dinning area, bar, and dance floor. Friendly staff, speedy service and good food. We tried the sampler appetizer, tasty although we did not fine the empanadas to be the highlight. Our entrees were the taste of Cuba and a chicken dish. The taste of Cuba was very good and a nice sampling of their most popular dishes. The chicken dish was also very good and a great choice for the more basic taste. After flan and tres leches cake we all decided we would return to this fun and delicious eating spot!

Updated 9/4/11 Havana Tropical Grill opened around October 2010 and was located in Bentonville until just recently, when they moved to their new location in Rogers. They seat around 75 people I would guess. Ricardo, one of the partners in the business, is very proud of his restaurant, as he should be. He takes pride in making sure that his customers get the best foodie experience possible. This is the type of food that courses through his veins. Some of you may be afraid that the food served here may be on the spicy side, and while it is true that you can order some hot and spicy dishes, the majority of their dishes are seasoned well but will not melt your tongue. So do not let that scare you, when you go there you are going to find several favorites. The interior of the building is cozy, and has an "inviting" feel about it overall. The new location is probably double the size of the old location, in regards to seating capacity. They do have enough room to accommodate a large group. There is a bar area, and they are currently working on getting their hard liquor license. Their new location also offers an "intimate" feeling, with many "couples tables". The overall cleanliness of the facility is good, and as any of you who follow my reviews know, I am a stickler in regards to clean facilities. The bathrooms were also very clean. Now, on to the most important part of a review, the food!!! This is their Tilapia entree. And let me tell you, this one really hit the spot! It is served with coconut rice and beans. The onions and peppers accent this dish very nicely, and as you can see they were cooked to perfection. The filets were cooked well, and were of a good size. So the value is here for this dish! This is their Cuban Tamale. It is filled with minced pork and made of fresh ground corn. The taste was great, I could eat plate after plate of these little tamales. Served with a little strip of fried red pepper and a slice of lime, this is the perfect appetizer. For you tamale lovers out there, this one is a must try! They offer a couple of canned drinks at their location that most people have probably not tried before. My favorite was the Jupina Pineapple soda. The Materva Yerbe Mate soda is also good, it has a flavor somewhat similar to a cream soda. Give them a try when you go there. One of the kids meals we tried was the chicken nuggets with fries. The nuggets are bought in, but don't let that stop you from ordering them for your kids. They are a nice quality nugget, and the portion size is very good. The other kids meal we tried was the grilled ham and cheese sandwich, with fries. This one was a hit, and again the portion size was very good. You get your monies worth when you order this dish. We also tried a side order of fried yuca with an aioli sauce. Yuca is also known as cassava, and is a delicious root vegetable. This is a true Cuban favorite, and a must try when you go there. Another appetizer we tried was the tropical stuffed plantains, also known as tostones rellenos. These were spot on,and the seasoning was just right. If you like plantains, then this is a dish you will want to try! Another main entree we tried was their steak with fries and avocado. Steak fillet sauteed with fresh onions, peppers and tomatoes. Served alongside sliced avocado and steak fries. The meat was seasoned perfectly, and was moist and tender. Great dish! Another main we tried was the pork shoulder with congri. Congri is a tasteful blend of black beans, rice, onions and ham. The pork was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was spot on. This is another must try when you go there. I would be remiss if I did not mention dessert! One of my favorite desserts is Tres Leches. For those of you who are not aware of what Tres Leches is, basically it is "three milk cake". It is soaked in three kinds of milk; evaporated milk, condensed milk and heavy cream. When done right, this is foodie heaven! And they do it right here! In summary I would highly suggest trying out this restaurant. The food that I have tried there was spot on, and had such a rich and vibrant taste. The portion sizes are very good for the money spent, so the value is definitely there. Ricardo and his staff are always looking to please you, and I think they really have a great chance of success. The only drawback to their new location, is that it is kind of "hidden" from street view. So just keep your eyes peeled, and head on over there to give them a try. You will not be disappointed!

I think it's the only Cuban food you'll find for hundreds of miles, but trust me when i say that you are not settling. The authentic choices on the menu convinced us to give it a try. When we took our first bites, we felt like we were back in south Florida where we fell in love with Cuban food. Staff is very friendly, portions are generous, and every table gets Cuban toast! We don't live here but, we plan on visiting again simply because of this restaurant. If you want real Cuban food, you wont be disappointed!

This was my first experience with Cuban cuisine and I was so impressed! Everything was fresh, fulfilling and delicious - and the service was great. We started with the Beef Picadillo Empanadas, Croquetas and Yuca Frita appetizers - everything was delicious I had to pace myself and keep my appetite for dinner. For my entree I had the Palomilla Steak - the portion was huge and again you could tell everything was freshly prepared and made with care. I also had the watermelon mojito which was made with fresh watermelon juice and mint. I wish I had found this place sooner, we will definitely be back!

The food was amazing. There were three of us we each had different entrées. The food was authentic reasonably priced even down to the Cuban coffee which I had never had. We also had two appetizers one was the tamales they were little sweet very delicious. The owner of the restaurant was funny and helpful. Mango mojito was my favorite. Our server Marisol could not have anymore kind will definitely return again it was an experience not just to meal. This was our first time but I'll be back

AT 4.5 stars I thought I was in for a real treat. Arrived on a Tuesday at 5:30 and was the only one in the restaurant. As Scooby Doo would say Ruh Roh. The waitress was very polite and service was timely. I had the cuban sampler. The flavors were good, but there was a lot of rice and not a lot of toppings. The black beans were good and the cuban bread that was served up front was good. Pricing good, but this wasn't a 4.5 experience in my book.

Ok, the churrasco marinated steak may be the best beef I've eaten. I'm telling you, if the doctor said I had two weeks to live, I would eat that beef every day. Also, you have to get the sweet plantains!

We never tried Cuban food before so we didn't know what to expect. The server recommended us the taste of Cuban and it was amazing! The ropa vieja was the best out of the three meat. Definitely coming back to this place! Great food and great service!

My wife was craving maduros and this was the only place we could find them. Turns out all their food was delicious. We tried to go on a Monday and they were closed, but came back the next night and we are glad we did. Very authentic! Somewhat difficult to find the first time, especially at night, the sign is not lit and it is back off the road a little. Definitely a different type of experience and worth a visit.

Wow! Great Mojito's. Great food! Great empanadas. I'm planning to drive more than 40 miles to come back often. Better than what we've found in the Florida Keys over several years of looking! Come. Enjoy!!

These types of restaurants are exactly why we need services like yelp and urban spoon. I never would have found or tried this place if it wasn't for apps like these. At first when I walked in, the entire restaurant had an amazing aroma that you won't find in any McDonald's or Olive Garden or any chain restaurants. We started out with the sampler and finished off with an amazing pork dish. Will defiantly return, and we all need to start rewarding places like these by visiting them more often and ditching the fast food joints.

Well I was skeptical in choosing this for my lunch.. But wanted to give it a try... Wow.. Food is good.. Feels close to my nativity... Of course can't have spice which I would get there. Cilantro Lime shrimp had a punch of garlic.. When I added it with black pepper.. Vola got it to my taste..

An out of the way place, but it is worth a visit. The authentic food is awesome! I've never heard of this place before, but my wife wanted to make me and her brother out somewhere that we hadn't been before. I was pleasantly surprised. It's slightly hidden, but it is a gem if you want Real and Authentic Cuban food as well as experiencing some of the festive atmosphere.

This was really awesome Cuban food! I had the best mofongo I've had since Puerto Rico. The environment was great and the service was good. My 5 y/o loved it as well. The Tres Leches was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend. Challenge is that it's hard to find.

In an area of the country that seriously lacks diversity in every facet possible this place is a hidden gem in NWA!! Havana Tropical Grill has delicious, authentic Cuban food with great service and atmosphere!! The shredded pork is mouthwatering, the flavor contrast between that and the plantains compliment each other very well!! Top off the meal with some flan and a Cuban coffee simply fantastic!! Highly recommend this place!

Its totally a hole in the wall place but it is awesome. It's clean, spacious, and the food was amazing!!!! They greet you with free cuban bread. They had ropa vieja done right. We ordered the sampler which had tostones, fried plantains, empanadas, yucca frita, and some other thing that looked like a mozzarella stick but I think it might have been pork mixed with potato? Dunno but it was good. We tried tgier pineapple soda -delicious. The servings were big and they pack a punch. Loved the flavor. They also have salsa dancing on Saturday nights. The floor looked decent in size. The location also has many tv's and a surround system. Prices are average. Service is great. If I lived in Arkansas, this would be my favorite spot to eat. Definitely coming back here every time I visit. Well done!

The food was so flavorful! The yuca drowned in garlic, onion, and olive oil was simply delicious. I also tried the picadillo (green olives are a nice touch) and the papa relleno. I loved both. I actually ordered the arroz y vegetales and was very pleased. Sadly, I left my box of left overs at the restaurant. Anytime I have a chance to come back to Rogers or Springdale for work, I'll be so excited just so I can come back to eat.

Found this wonderful little spot after Frisco Fest this year and couldn't have loved it more. Our waitress was fantastic and the food was both beautiful and delicious. Company and I ordered different dishes and sampled a bit of everything... absolutely not disappointed. The plantain chips were especially delicious, more so when combined with a bit of pork or beef. I'll be making a special trip up to Rogers next time I'm in town

Being Cuban I was skeptical I'd find something authentic in Arkansas. I was so wrong! Why this place isn't packed even on a Tuesday is beyond me. Everything was great- mojito, croquetas, vaca frita just like dad makes. Fantastico! I'll be back.

Five stars, hands down. Yum! We went to AR to visit my Godmother and wanted to take her for dinner somewhere awesome. This place was just that. Our waitress was so patient and explained the menu to us and helped us with our order. The food was great. We loved the Cuban sampler and the fried yucca root! They were like a giant flavorful steak fry. My only complaint is that i WISH those were the fries that come with your meal but it was amazing. I will be going back on my next trip to Bentonville!

Great service, and excellent food! I tried the arroz con pollo, as suggested by others, and was not disappointed. My husband had the palomilla encebollado, and we were both impressed. We will definitely be back to try something else! It's not super easy to find, as it's set back off the road a bit, so don't miss it!

Tried ropa vieja and some empanadas. It's nice to know there's something other than typical Mexican or Central American food or bbq around here.

Being vegetarian menus seem to be limited, but after we told our server she showed us a different menu. We had many choices and unfortunetly I can remember the name of the plate but did have a veggie Cuban which was good. The yuca Fritos were delicious especially the aoli that came with it.

This was my first time trying cuban food. Let me just say it did not disappoint! It was amazing! We had the ropa vieja and the mar y tierra. Both were very good, But my favorite was the ropa vieja the flavors combined with the meat and veggies was very good! The shrimp on the mar y tierra had a very good flavor to it with a hint of lime. We also had the sampler appetizer to start off since it was our first time eating cuban food we wanted to try as much as we could. I liked everything that came in the sampler but let me just say that the empanada was the best it was filled with ground beef very well seasoned. The only thing that i can say i would have liked is for the food to have some spiciness to it since im Mexican and love spicy food, but i also understand that cubans do not eat spicy food. Although i think the great flavors in all the food overcame the small negative of me wanting spicy food. Definitely recommend this place and i will be going back

Unbelievable food, wonderful atmosphere, and truly authentic recipes. We go as often as we can! I asked about a small catering order at the last minute and they made up a delicious and beautifully decorated meal for the party! Everyone raved at how good it was.. Do not miss out on this lovely little taste of Cuba tucked away in Rogers.. we love love love it!

Just moved out here from Los Angeles. I found this place by accident, looking to dance Spanish music. First time there in July, great music but no one showed. Now in November, we have visited over a half dozen times. The food was a plus, FRESH, the DJ is great; plays if you request, and the owners are friendly always make themselves available. This Los Angeles style night clubs. But guys dress to impress.

We ordered takeout from Havana and got a Cuban Sandwich, a Media Noche (another sandwich) and a shredded flank steak with their cuban sampler as an appetizer. When we arrived at 6:30 PM on a Saturday, we should have known. The place was dead quiet - during our 15 minute wait for the food, no one else was in the restaurant. There's no way this place can last if they can't get customers on Saturday. The food was still hot when we got it home. The sandwiches had the right ingredients but they just didn't have the "zing" that I was expecting. The empanada was good, but the tostones were completely bland. I'd like to give them 2.5 starts. It falls somewhere between "Meh" and "A-OK."

Me and my husband love this place. It's a great place to discover other people's arts and skills. You can come in and do a monologue, sometimes they have comedians, you can sing, show off your art, talk about a poem you made. It's awesome... The food is fabulous too :))

We lived in the Keys and Florida for almost 20 years and took Cuban food for granted. You could get Cuban toast or a con leche on any corner. I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd find traditional Cuban cuisine in NWA. We've been there twice now and have not been disappointed. We've tried the Tilapia, the Cuban fajitas, the picadillo, the fish tacos, and the kids rice and beans with plantains. All have been awesome and taste just like the Cuban food we were used to in Key West. They have a full-bar and some fun Cuban sodas. We can't wait to go back and make our way through the menu. The service is awesome and families are very welcome. I'd love to check out the night scene on Fri and Sat nights. Don't miss out on this little slice of tropical heaven.

Ate here recently for lunch and tried the cuban sandwich. It was good and filling. I am not sure what I was expecting. The side of fried plantains (tostones) was terrible. I tried one and it was a bite of very bland greasy nothing. They were not busy and the service was slow. I get the feeling it turns into a dance club at night based on the mirrored walls and colored lights in the corner. They do serve alcohol. I'm not too sure when or if I will go back. For more the latin fusion sensation of tastes that explode in your mouth....I'm a Rolando's fan.
