I really can't tell what the food tasted like. We never got waited on. It seemed only tables with more than two people gets attention. A poor older couple that's was there before was still waiting on service. We left after 15 minutes never seeing anyone. The table that came in after us with six people was seen by a waitress and got there drinks. I doubt if I'll ever go back. P.S. We went hoping to get catfish only saw one catfish meal on the menu. There were more different types of salad than catfish.

I recently visited home - Little Rock, Arkansas - to see family and to enjoy my 12 year old niece's national basketball tournament. We had a long day of games Saturday (after traveling 7 hours from Houston Friday night) and by the time we reached the restaurant we were all pretty hungry. I ate at this restaurant when I was a teenager and was really looking forward to dining there! When we walked in the door we were "greeted" by Dale our hostess. She proceeded to very crudely tell us (a party of 8 and a baby) to "Pop a squat" because I have to roll your silverware and I have to find you a server. She then proceeded to stand there and roll it in front of us instead of seating us. This was around 8:30 at night. As we were waiting, the family sat down and began playing a game of huge checkers that was on a small table in the waiting area .. They slightly turned the table since some were standing up (a father and his daughters), and the hostess Dale began repeating like a broken record.. "Can you please put my table back? Can you please put my table back?" We thought she was kidding but no, she was completely rude and very strange. She didn't shut up her chant until the table was moved back flush against the wall. Then my niece asked for a sling to put her 3 month old baby's carrier in. She was once again rude. She told her no we don't have those. You can turn the high chair upside down and set it on that. They tried this and it was unstable so they couldn't use it. She made a smart remark that "we've had plenty of people with baby carriers in here believe me it will work." Well until you've had your first baby and experienced being a protective parent, you should have a little more tact and kindness when dealing with new parents. When we were finally seated, the Plates were brought out wet, and we had to use napkins to wipe them dry. We were told they were out of glasses and they would bring drinks once they washed them. It was very clear that they were ready to close for the night and very annoyed at having to accommodate us. The food was the only good thing about this visit. It lived up to my expectations, and our waiter Eric was very talented - expertly flipping the cornbread in the small cast iron skillet and getting our food out quickly. We ate cornbread, greens, fried catfish, pickled onions, slaw that was to die for and hush puppies in a plate that resembles the old western tin plates. We were served our drinks in a mason jar which was all very cool and made for a unique dining experience. I'm thinking the hostess must be kin to the owner, because she was horribly rude and Terrible at her job. Just in case she gave us the wrong name, she had short, buzzed on the side, dirty blond hair. I should have taken her picture. She was THAT rude. Next time I come home we are only eating fish at the Flying Fish in downtown Little Rock! No matter how good the food is, I refuse to be treated so rudely!

We walked in to this store around 12:15 on a Sunday afternoon. The hostess was MIA. After several minutes someone emerged from the bar and seated us. There were maybe a dozen tables in the entire restaurant that were occupied. We waited for nearly 10 minutes without being acknowledged. We finally left. I hate that I am unable to review the food on this visit. I haven't been here in a while. I have always loved their chicken and coleslaw. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to try it again. With today's service experience, it isn't likely that I will try it again any time soon.

Unfortunately, my experiences here have been less than stellar. I'd really rate them about 2.5-2.75 stars, but Yelp doesn't give me that option. #1) Last year, my husband and I ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Well, technically, it was for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, when my family was able to get together. On Saturday, my husband showed up to pick up the turkey - and no one was there! Well, with the exception of the peacock who guarded the door. We ended up having to run to Kroger and buy some of their pre-cooked, sliced turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Now I will say, the owner remedied the situation as best as they could, and ended up giving us our turkey for free (the following day.) #2) We recently had a family gathering at Cock of the Walk. I admit, I'm not a fan of greasy, fried Southern food, in general. However, even more so here. The coleslaw was too peppery, the fried pickles too salty, the chairs too uncomfortable, and overall ... the prices were too expensive! I felt $12-$15/pp for lunch is a tad high. I understand they offer cornbread, coleslaw, etc. as sides, which I suppose is the reason for the higher entree prices. However, I'd rather spend my $15 at a different restaurant, any day. I appreciate their history (seems they have been one restaurant that has stuck around for many years!), but think they could make some improvements.

They were extremely busy with several large groups but our waitress never let us know that we were not the only ones in the restaurant. Food was timely and very delicious.

Love the experience of this place and the southern food! Their coleslaw is the best I've had hands down and the fried catfish. Always my choice when I'm in the mood for southern food.

Let's see...the food was awful and there was a RAT (NY subway size) hanging out under the table next to us. Won't go back!

Went there for my boyfriend's birthday and hated it. The staff was unhelpful and uninterested. We waited about an hour for food that wasn't worth it. We found a cap to the whip cream in our brownie. To add on to that when they sang happy birthday they half-assed it and walked away. My dogs could've barked up a better song. I don't recommend this place at all. Save your money and heart attack. Definitely won't be going back.

Love the fish and shrimp. Of you're looking for good fried catfish year round this this a great place to eat it at. Only negative is every time I go it seems there really isn't anyone there. Really strange, but they are a niché restaurant so that may be the reason.

Worst service I have ever had. Waited for 1 hour for our food. Your vegetable choices are baked potato, Cole slaw, or fried pickles. Stay away. Go to flying fish in downtown Little Rock if you need fried fish. Get a mcfish sandwich from McDonalds before going here

Went there with a group of friends and was not impressed! Fried pickles were great (2 stars) but the waitress got a couple of food orders wrong. When we asked the waitress to correct it, she said we had to pay for an extra order! Not only that, when she brought our checks, they were not correct. The drink orders were on someone else's check. "Oh I must have fat fingered it, hee hee. You know how you get in a rush!" Ah, no! Really? Prices were high, but the food quality was meh. I've had better fish at Long John Silvers! Waitresses need to be trained to take orders and ring them up correctly. And, I don't think that we should pay for the mistake of the waitress that took the order incorrectly! Wont be coming back!

As always, the food was excellent. The service was great. Had the fried pickle/onion combo and The Red Feather Platter with fish, shrimp and chicken. My wife and I have been eating here for over 20 years and don't see that ending anytime soon.

Love this place! I have to visit every time I'm in Little Rock. Actually saw the white peacock in the tree one evening upon leaving. My friends thought I was crazy. I actually purchased a cornbread skillet! Can't wait to get another one. Food is wonderful.

Catfish was fresh and hot. Slaw excellent, fried pickles were great. I enjoyed the pickled onions. My table needed some 409 on it. Service was fine.

I loved this place. Great date night restaurant. We had fried pickles which were so nummy and they have these white peacocks outside the place that are beautiful. Great food, nice bar area, great experience. Yes, you eat on metal/tin plates but thats part of the experience, just go with it. Its a log cabin, old timey, fun and different place to eat. If your from out of town I would def try this place!

It's the best catfish and view in town! I'd never go anywhere else except here! They have this peacock outside and he is super entertaining! I also saw a racoon eating French fries , I went here on date night with my husband and it was so fun, we had a pitcher of beer that was super ice cold and like I said the food is amazing ! There is always a wait so get here early! And don't forget to tip your server! KCCO!!

Four stars for the awesome catfish, great cornbread, strong drinks, and an enjoyably kitschy country setting. The hush puppies were a little dry, and the fries were only okay (I'd go for the baked potato instead). The shrimp was really good and fresh, but a little too salty. The pickled onions they bring out with the coleslaw were super addictive. This is not health food by any stretch of the imagination, but it's definitely worth it for the catfish and the cornbread. Try to go before sunset so you can wander around the porch and check out the pond before your meal.

Went here because our favorite, Grandpas had closed. Like one reviewer said, Im not a huge fan of the eating on metal plates thing. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful and he flipped the cornbread, so that was kind cool lol. They bring coleslaw to the table and we ordered a side of greens as well. Cornbread and coleslaw was good but I was not impressed with the greens. Ordered the catfish and fried shrimp with fries and hush puppies. The fried shrimp and hush puppies was really good but the catfish was pretty bland and the fries were nothing special. I think the draw of this place is the surroundings. Theres a big lake full of fish and turtles and peacocks walking around (including an all white one i saw).

Definitely NOT for health conscious people. I think even the toilet paper is deep fried...as are their tomatoes, okra, fish, chicken, hush puppies, pickles..u name it...it's battered and fried...

Food is ok. Kind of bland not really home cooking. Chicken was dry and hard. Not real happy about eating out of a metal dog food bowl. Corn bread was good. We waited at the front desk for 5 mins before anyone showed up to seat us and then she just walk us to the table, dropped the menus and left. Very unwelcome felling. The place is staffed by young people that don't seem to care. I won't be back ever

Best cornbread in town (heck it's a small town so let's say best in the area). Bring your out of towner's here for the great atmosphere and some pretty good catfish. You might find better fish or shrimp elsewhere but you won't find a better all around catfish meal with all the right fixins.

Mmmm I love this restaurant. I've been here a couple of times and I've always been pleased with my food. The cole slaw is delicious as is the cornbread. The waitstaff is very friendly and it's a nice dining environment. If you like good fried catfish, cornbread, and southern food then go here!

This place definitely had killer catfish, but the rest of the meal really didn't do it for me. Overall, I felt like I could've had a heart attack smelling all the greasy fried food. The cornbread was great, but way too greasy. Greens were good, but a little too smoky for my taste. I got the grilled catfish so it would be a bit healthier and it was great. The restaurant is a very down-home country cooked meal and is good for a treat every once and a while.

The food was sub par and way over priced. Just a chicken breast and a couple sides cost over $14. Total rip off.
