One of the nicest families you will ever meet. I love the food, and I love the people. There are haters out there who were disappointed years ago when they relocated from centerpoint pkwy. Trust me, they were left with no choice. Furthermore, the place is even better than before. They make awesome fried chicken. Its hard to find a place that will do it start to finish home-made, they definitely do. I'm also a huge fan of chicken livers and no one makes fried chicken livers like "the box." As the name implies, they also serve seafood. The fried oysters, shrimp, and everything else is just fantastic. I'm not really sure how they picked up the name. It may be the shape of the restaurant, the boxes they serve carry-out orders in, or maybe I'm completely off. I don't care. The place is still locally owned, operated, managed, staffed, and built. They could move 10 more times and I would still go back and get some fried chicken from the Seafood and Chicken Box. They earned my respect years ago, and will always have my business.

Seafood and Chicken Box does have the best fried chicken. The chicken is not greasy or soggy like bigger chains. It's crisp and yummy. Plus, you can get fried oysters! Seriously, they are addictive. The menu also features shrimp and fish. The reason their food is so good: they cook it when you place your order, so it's not sitting under some hot light. If you don't want to wait, just phone in your order to go. I like that it's a convenient spot to get take-out. Take out fried oysters! Overall, the restaurant is consistently good. So if you're craving some fried food, you'll get quality. However, because it is fried food, Seafood & Chicken Box is only an occasional treat for me.

Honestly, I don't know why this is considered a Trussville institution. I've given this place three tries and left disappointed every time. Their fried fish is mediocre at best, and I didn't receive good service the two times I ate inside. I ordered out one night and ordered their grilled fish, and it honestly tasted like a salt lick. The catfish was extremely over seasoned and dry. My husband's fries were limp and soggy. If I ever decide to brave it again, I will update.

I crave the chicken fingers here at least once a week and that is pretty unfortunate as I live in Minnesota and am about 1,100 miles away from them; SO I just have to settle for them anytime I am down South visiting my boyfriend's parents. We bought the seasoning to take home with us but we just can't recreate the salty/sweet juicy little pieces of heaven like they can. I just booked another flight to Alabama and I'll be damned if Seafood Chicken Box isn't the first to-do on my list. :)

Favorite place when just in mood for chicken fingers. Love their honey mustard and hush puppies are great as well. Usually great service, also great for take out. The only con is no kids meal to go but no other complaints.

Undoubtedly a local favorite. I have been eating food prepared by these nice people for years, and only the local people around this area know about it. They have their on "GOO" seasoning. You should buy some and use on your dishes prepared at home. I highly recommend their fried chicken and the crab claws are to die for.....

The fried chicken did take a long time (and they tell you it will), but was worth it. I'm a fried chicken fan, and this comes in the top 3-5 for me. The meat was hot and juicy, but not oily. The skin was crispy without being crunchy, and the meat itself was very good. The sweet tea to wash it down with was great, albeit a bit too sweet. This worked well because the seasoning on the chicken was a little overly salty, so it balanced out. The hushpuppies were not atypical. The baked potato was less than flavorful. Maybe overcooked? Disappointed in it. The cole slaw was tasty, but a bit too tasty and too fine. I love cabbage, so that left it with something to be desired.

Wish I had tried the chicken as the previous reviewer suggested, but I'm not a chicken fan, and I always want seafood. You don't want it here. The grilled catfish was over-seasoned with lemon pepper, but even that was not enough to save the terrible taste of the fish. They admitted to not making their own dressings (they use Ken's), but said that they were known for their homemade tarter and cocktail - if so, that's very sad, because even those simple concoctions were not good. The hushpuppies were too salty. The owner admitted that the crabcakes were frozen from a box. The fried cod (the only two fish they have are cod and catfish) was thin and over breaded with hardly any meat and, like the fried shrimp, tasted like it was not breaded there. The service was not good either. I will not be back. However, on a brighter note - the tea was good. RW & LS

Excellent fried chicken. This place has been around since the 70's, and has migrated from East Lake to Center Point and finally, to Trussville. The fried food is all great, including huge shrimp. The fried fish is a little lame, however, as it is very thin & mostly breading. Stick with the chicken, you will not be disappointed. It's always hot & fresh, which means you have to wait about 20 minutes while it is prepared. The people who work there are very friendly, and I highly recommend it.

Came here last week for dinner for the first time in years. I ordered the chicken finger and shrimp plate. My dp ordered the chicken breast and shrimp plate as well as a half order of chicken livers. We also ordered a dozen hush puppies. Both dinners came with a salad. It was crisp and cold and refreshing. What I love about their chicken is that it is seasoned with so much garlic salt. I did not care for the shrimp, but everyone else loves it. I prefer a different batter. I refuse to eat chicken livers, but were told they were fantastic. The hush puppies were delicious. We also ordered a large chicken dinner to go to take over to my brother. If it weren't so far away I'd probably stop in often.

Food is good, but could you get any worse service? Servers are rude, and act like they are doing you a favor for them serving you. While food had a good tast it took a long time!!! There are 5 in my family and they brought out our food 1 at a time. By the time that the last person got their food, the 1st was done. Don't bother asking about it either "you will get it when it is done."

Food was great, they were out of oysters so they gave me extra shrimp...

The food was okay (a bit salty), but service could have been much better. The waitress completely forgot about our table. She let my husband's water glass get completely empty and I had to ask her to fill it up, when she finally did she brought two glasses so that she wouldn't have to come back. Normally, I wouldn't give a bad review just for that, but she also got my Mother In Law's order completely wrong. She brought out shrimp when my we had ordered scallops, and when we informed her of her mistake, she made us put the shrimp on a separate plate to send back to the kitchen as though we were trying to cheat the restaurant out of shrimp and scallops. Not going back.

Went there for lunch and ordered a Fish on a bun. It was average, but the tarter sauce was good. Also, the sweet tea was excellent.
