We really enjoy the food here and have been coming in since they first opened. The top shelf margaritas are awesome. My favorite is the fish tacos and other half like the more original dishes. We always recommend La Bamba.

The food here is awful and the service sucks also. I don't know what kind of meat they use in their dishes but it's not ground beef. The food was ice cold possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I will never go back. If I could give no stars I would. Eat at your own risk.

I give it two stars because we went when they first opened (a benefit of the doubt star). The decor is cool- the food is cool too (temperature wise). The quality in comparison to the prices is astounding. I'll eat half price at nearby El Cazador and leave much happier. I know it's a high rent building but you've got to put out a decent product to back the prices. We had a piece of some sort of cheesecake for dessert. It tasted like eating a crayon and we told our waiter as much. Still charged us. (We didn't ask them to take it off but usually restaurants will as a courtesy- especially when it was as bad as this was). We may go back if invited with friends or something to give them another shot but unless that happens- I'm staying away.

A friend who lives out in Pinson had seen this place during a shopping trip and suggested we try it. We went out early from work, and our group of three was the only party in the place. The server was friendly, but it went downhill quickly after that. One member of our party order a Dos Equis Amber draft; the beer was warm. The server brought a small basket of tortilla chips (again, party of three) and a cheese dip we ordered which was quite small for the $3.95 price. Looking through the menu, there wasn't a whole lot that was actually Mexican food. The menu included Cuban items, as well as a hamburger. Very few items seemed even remotely Mexican. When the food arrived, the servings were small. I ordered the fish tacos ($10.95) and recieved two (2) tacos that were small with very little lettuce or cheese on them to go along with the grilled fish. The other two members of our party had the "Mexico" (combination of a beef, chicken and cheese enchilada); neither of them finished their meal. The happy hour prices were reasonable; the food prices were not for the quality and quantity. I won't be making a return trip to La Bamba.

I went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my mom and son. The decor is great. I love the hammered tin lights. Very cool. The chips are thin and crispy and not too salty. The salsa tasted fresh and spicy but not too spicy for grandma and the 6 year-old. I had a veggie quesadilla that was filled with large pieces of zucchini, broccoli, squash, mushrooms, etc. jammed pack with veggies and not too much cheese. We all loved our food even the picky 6 year old. We will all be going back.

I give it just 2 stars. The service was pleasant. Very attentive. Got our drinks quickly. Resturant itself looked awesome inside. I ordered the shredded chicken quesidlla and my husband got enchiladas. VERY bland food. It was like, did we just eat?? Not enough food for the prices that we paid. Left rather angry. I've been to other mexican resturants and have been far more satisfied that I was at this resturant.

I didn't even want to give this place one star. Terrible food, overpriced, and the worst service. I will not be going back.

Very tasty meal. We came in before reading reviews. My wife and daughter split fajitas and I had The Mexico. Awesome meal! I don't know what was up with the other reviews but we really had a good meal tonight

Chips burnt, food bland & luke warm. Overpriced. The tea was OK. servers were good & apologized for only having overcook chips available. That was enough for me, back to Hacienda Grill.

Ok, my I need to update my last review. Even though it was just posted my first visit to LaBamba was several months ago, when it was still new. I have since been back twice and it's a bit better. they seemed to have worked out the kinks a bit. Still a great atmosphere. Menu is not as traditional as one might be used to at other Mexican restaurants. It's not the worse place for Mexican food, but it's not the best either. But it adds a different option in Trussville.

Wow, these reviews aren't very flattering, so I feel I should share my positive experience. We had a great meal here last night. Our original plan was to eat at Five Guys, but out of curiosity, we decided to walk next door to this place at the last second. After a quick scan through the menu, I picked the one vegetarian option I spotted, the portobello Garden Fajitas, and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp enchiladas. My fajitas were delicious and far more exciting than the middle-of-the-road bean and cheese options you see on most veggie menus at Mexican restaurants. My girlfriend enjoyed her enchiladas and her banana margarita (I would personally argue that it tasted more like a daiquiri, but whatever). I opted for the standard lime margarita, but they were both really tasty. The service here was great too. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often, and other servers would occasionally walk by and ask if we needed anything as well. The extra attention might have had something to do with the fact that we were there at 9:30 PM and they weren't busy, but I'm not complaining. The only negative I can think of is that the check did wind up being a bit higher than I'm used to when going out for Mexican food. However, the meal was so good, I didn't really mind spending a few extra bucks. With so many mostly interchangeable Mexican restaurants in Trussville, it's nice to have a one that offers some unique dishes.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
