Have no idea what you would be doing in Sylacauga, Alabama but if you are this place is not to be missed. Located about an hour south of Birmingham this husband and wife owned establishment is housed in a old 1904 Victorian home. Each room in the house has a few tables and makes it a comfortable setting with hard wood floors, fireplaces and a occasional train whistle in the background. Menu is incredible and sides are all local southern produce. Save room for the cornbread strawberry shortcake, blew me away. Closed Sunday, Monday

Tried Buttermilk Hill for Mothers Day as this was a good half way point between Auburn and Pell City. Both the lunch and service were excellent. Started with crab bisque, then a wonderful salad. Two of us had the salmon and another the the fried chicken. Then the awesome dessert which was some white chocolate berry wonderful cake. Can't wait to try the regular menu!

I can't believe this restaurant does not have more reviews. If you are in Sylacauga and would like fine dining its worth a visit. Excellent!

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The only bad thing about it was I found out this place has been open since 2006 and I am just now finding it. A true hidden gem. I cannot say enough good things about the food, the people, or the experience. Will be coming back and, telling all my friends about it.

As a Birmingham resident, surrounded by many fine food establishments, Buttermilk Hill is right along side with some of the bests. The environment is cozy, charming and romantic. I always order the filet and it's seasoned well and served with delicious sides, all cooked perfectly. The bread pudding is delicious as well! They have a great wine selection too. I love stopping by here when visiting my family members that live in the area!!!

We have eaten here a number of times. It would be more, but it is such a drive from Birmingham. The atmosphere and friendliness of the hostess/co-owner are attributes of this restaurant. The food is extraordinary, although portions are small. When you can get the risotto, you should. It is special. Whatever you order, you will really enjoy. I have never had anything that wasn't superb. So, order what you like. There is no need for me to critique individual items which vary anyway. The chef does not vary. Service, for us, has always been good. Most times we have been there the owner has come to our table to welcome us. I am not going to write that this is as good as any of the best in Birmingham, but it may well be. That, you will have to decide. The old house is beautiful and has so much interesting history. Ask about it and check out the guest book. You will find some interesting comments and patrons including Jim Nabors.

Great food. Kara and her staff are fantastic. The restaurant is located in a lovely old home. The shrimp and grits is fabulous.

Excellent! This converted home offers one of the best meals that I have ever had at a restaurant. It's expensive but you won't enjoy a meal this much at a chain restaurant. We went here because of a groupon discount but because of our experience, we will be back often. Save room for the bread pudding for desert!

The food here is absolutely incomparable. To put it up against any other restaurant in Sylacauga would be an insult, it is simply fine cuisine. The atmosphere is incredibly classy and the decor is beautiful. All staff were friendly, helpful, and the food was hot and served quickly. Absolutely wonderful experience.

This place is amazing. I met my girlfriend here for an impromptu date while I was in Auburn for work (she lives in Birmingham). We were the only dinners, save for a couple people at the bar, but it was a Wednesday night in a sleepy town so I didn't think much of it. The service was spectacular and the food was some of the best I've ever had. The chef came to the table to recommend the lamb chops (apparently they rarely get them and sell out quickly when they do). I went with his suggestion and was blown away. It was beautiful crispy and caramelized on the outside with a perfect red medium rare in the center. The risotto and spinach the chops were served on we're also superb. My girlfriend had the shrimp and grits (she opted for the spicy version when the chef offered) and was equally as pleased. We will definitely be going back one weekend when I am visiting Birmingham. It's worth every second of the hour drive from the city.

My wife and I had lunch at Buttermilk Hill today. The food was, in a single word, delicious. I had pork tenderloin grilled. It was cooked to a perfect pink. It had an apple molasses reduction with little pieces of apple. It was served with a sautéed fresh spinach, also cooked perfectly, grilled zucchini and "buttery good" buttermilk mashed potatoes. Grilled, buttered and seasoned ciabatta bread was served alongside. My wife had a buttermilk battered chicken breast with a delicious white sauce along with the same vegetables. About three quarters through the meal the chef came by the table to be sure we enjoyed everything. We will be scheduling a return engagement to this white cloth restaurant. If you have a chance to go, do it!

Wonderful evening at this new discovery. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Great strawberry, walnut and goat cheese salad, very good steak with delicious mashed potatoes and asparagus, warm bread from the oven, and the best bread pudding I have ever eaten. So glad that we made the drive and tried this restaurant - a gem.
