I love, love, love this place! All of their oysters - whether you get baked, fried, or raw - are phenomenal and very well-priced. In particular, they have really tasty Rockefeller, Wild Bill and Texas baked oysters, so get the sampler and try them all. They have the friendliest bartenders in town who will remember your name, and they have terrific cold beer. The dynamite shrimp and grouper fingers are amazing - tender and tasty. Just go and you won't regret it!

Freshest seafood in Montgomery. All that I've had there has been tasty.

I hate to be that "person"....but I must always remain honest and candid. Driving up to this establishment it definitely looked a little sketchy but that adage, "Never judge a book by its cover" came to mind. I shook off my prejudgment and continued. As I walked in I was still a bit hesitant because it looked really "divey." However, I was met with warm greetings and smiles. The place really has a comforting, homey feel to it, albeit small. The bartender was uber friendly and immediately asked what I'd like to drink. I opted for a house Margarita. It was quite southern tasting, not bad, but every bartender has their own take. Although I wished he'd asked if I wanted salt/sugar. He assumed I wanted sugar b/c that's exactly what was on the rim. No biggie--but I usually don't opt for either. I really, really, REALLY wanted some fresh, tasty oysters. I mean I've had this place bookmarked for over 2 months. And it was between this locale and Capitol Oyster Bar. I think I chose this place simply because another Yelper mentioned that Capitol Oyster Bar was a bit difficult to find. Anyway, I ordered 1/2 dozen Texas Oysters and 1/2 dozen Rockefeller Oysters. I was ready to dive all the way in when they arrived....I was highly disappointed however. It was definitely the hardened cheese on top that failed these oysters. I know food, it's what I do best. These oysters were not it. I ate two from each plate. That was it. Nothing more. Now Yelpers, I have zero problems paying for what I ordered--I'm not one of those that demand the order is free or replaced....unless absolutely needed. But I also don't have any problem letting management know my valid concerns. They did ask if they could fix the dish, but I honestly didn't even want a repeat of any oysters at this juncture. I was over it and greatly disappointed. I paid, tipped for the drink and left. Sadly, I will not be returning.

I have only been here once, but it is all around not a bad place. The selection is a little predictable, but that may be exactly what you want in an oyster bar. It was nice that they had salad options. Very nice management. Glad to have tried it, and will likely come back since I did not even get to try the oysters. Only downside is that it is a bit dimly lit, and not in a romantic way. However, even on a Monday patrons were taking advantage of the bar.

Ended up trying the place out following a groupon purchase. The service was excellent and I went on a night where they had live music. The oyster sampler was great.. Kind of on the salty side though. We proceeded to order the Seafood Combo and Mahi Mahi Filet. The entree itself was good but we felt like we gained 10lbs after all the fried foods we had. This is somewhere I'd probably want to go 2x a year.

First of all the map on Yelp is wrong, it is off of East Blvd. near other restaurants, not on a dead end residential street. They give me a menu and then when I order steamed oysters I am informed that the price in the menu is wrong, they are actually $2.50 more for 1/2 dozen and $5.00 more for a dozen! Don't know how they taste because I paid for my drink and left after that. Heard them tell other people at bar that they were out of things the short time I was there.

A quaint little small town pub nestled in a big city. Lots of regulars and they are friendly to newcomers as well. The food was typical pub fare and was served hot, lots of it and moderately priced. I could see this becoming a must stop for anyone in Montgomery or passing thru.

I will say, the shrimp was fresh, the fish was fresh, the oysters were tasty. But, as for everything else?!?! One and done. We entered the restaurant at 12:00 noon, it was crowded, but not overly busy. The waitress was friendly and took our orders. She brought iced tea that was so watered down, it was barely tea. Horrible. We then waited more than 35 minutes for a cup of gumbo. 35 minutes? At lunchtime? When it arrived, it was lukewarm and the rice was half cooked. Almost no flavor. Very disappointing, we then waited another 15 minutes for the food, which was nothing more than 6 fried shrimp and a fish sandwich, it also arrived lukewarm. As I already mentioned, the shrimp and fish were fresh and well prepared, unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make up for the poor service, watery tea, cold gumbo, etc...I'm sure this place has a loyal clientele and they seem to be doing just fine...but, for my money, I will take Jubilee any day over this.

My wife & I were passing thru Montgomery on our way from Jazzfest in Nola to Macon GA, where we visited the Allman Brothers Big House Museum (there's a reason I mention this). 1st time in Montgomery so I looked to Yelp and saw Young's which appeared to be what we were looking for ... it didn't disappoint. As we walked in, we were greeted by a solo guitar player singing Gregg Allman's "Midnight Rider", hence the ABB mention above. Food was great, especially the reasonably priced raw oysters, which were fresh, huge & yummy!! Service was friendly and fast, & we were even visited by the owner, I nice guy who wasn't overbearing, just wanting to make sure we didn't need anything else. We will be back next time our travels take us thru Montgomery.

This is a nice neighborhood pub/oyster bar. Obviously attracts a regular crowd which says they are doing something right. I had grilled grouper for lunch with a side salad and butterpeas. Everything was prepared and presented well, and it even tasted good. Service was friendly. I would certainly go back

Ok Let me frame my review based on what it is. It's a neighborhood bar and seafood restaraunt that is inexpensive, and for being there on a Wed night found the live music a pleasant suprise (even if it was just a guy with a somewhat cheesy electric guitar, it made for nice 'neighborhood bar athmosphere'). Visited on the way through Montgomery and yelped for something to eat to break up the trip. We were both extremely suprised at the quality of the food for the price and the friendliness of the waitress. I got half dozen oysters on half shell and found them fresh, large and tasty, our seafood was a combination of boiled shrimp and fried seafood and was fantastic. I would return in a heartbeat!

We are pretty much regulars here and have never had a bad experience. The food is always good, and the service is always fast and friendly. What sets this place apart is the entertainment. We always try to go whenever Jimbo Jones is there, and Sonny Grier is an outstanding entertainer as well. The new manager is young and energetic and seems determined to continue Young Barn's success.
