I still would say this is the best pizza shop in town, without a doubt. You don't need much convincing - just give it a shot! It will be worth your while! I've been going since 2004 and, through the updates in staffing, the quality of the pizza has not changed a bit.

A really cool local pizza place that I've been to a few times. The hostess/server at lunch was very friendly and helpful. The pizzas are really good and they have a good selection of toppings. The crust is perfectly thin and crisp; however, it seems a little bland to me. A cool place to get lunch or dinner in a trendy neighborhood.

Great little restaurant in a great area. Its like a total hole in the wall that makes great pizzas. We were lucky to be able to get a seat as there was about a one hour wait on the pizzas. Apparently this place has a ton of orders for pick up. But that didn't keep us from enjoying the atmosphere with a couple beers. Once we did get our pizza, and ate it, we definitely understood why people love ordering from here.

Good, fresh pizza with great and friendly services! I had the Mediterranean and my husband had the supreme! We both enjoyed it very much and would recommend it to anyone who is craving good pizza in Montgomery! You can order it and pick it up or eat in. It was busy when I picked up our pizza so keep in mind that it's a hit spot to go for dinner especially on the weekend.

Very small dining area. Attentive staff. Came for a late lunch so parking wasn't a big problem but like most places with street parking I imagine it could be quite a booger during a rush. I ordered a small pizza with prosciutto, basil, and sundried tomatoes. It was good but the sundried tomatoes overpowered the flavor of the sauce and made it a little too sweet tasting. Had I not gotten them I think I would have enjoyed the pizza a lot more. Crust was slightly chewy with crispy edges and a "fired" taste. It's not the BEST pizza I've ever had but it certainly passes the good pizza test.

Tomatinos is a great find in Montgomery. They have a friendly staff and tons of pizza options! It's a bit expensive and seating is limited but if you are in the Montgomery area, you must try this local staple.

We stopped in on the way back to Atlanta based on Yelp reviews. Pretty good pizza and good service from this college pizza joint (and I mean that in a good way), but VERY limited menu, made even more limited by owner's directive to make absolutely no changes to menu items. We were told that chicken on pizza could not be added to salads, and Greek salad could not be made without spinach.

Ehhhh-okay. Service is unremarkable. Actually, awful. We had a party of three on a Saturday night. Once the pizza came out no one asked if we needed anything or how the food was. Our waters were never refilled. We actually had to flag the hostess down to request our check. The "large" pizza is only 15", so its really a medium in disguise. The prices are very high for pizza, especially considering the demographics in the area. Pizza itself is mehhh. Not the worst I ever had but no where near "great." I would call it "mediocre." Fairly thick-crust-very bready. We also had the "cheese stick" app which came with ice-cold marinara which I'm 99% was from a can. If this restaurant was located in the Northeast it would not stand a chance with the competition. However, it is a decent spot if you want something low-key and easy in Montgomery.

Love our neighborhood pizza shop. Great selection of ingredients and really nice sauce. If I'm going to break my diet for pizza, it has got to be Tomatinos! Never had a bad menu item here. Thanks!

Pizza wasn't the best but it wasn't bad either. Friendly staff. I didn't like the lemonade. Atmosphere was ok. Small dining area so I would call to reserve a table if you are a larger party.

Finding ourselves in Montgomery on Labor Day (after a pleasant Sunday night downtown), we were disappointed to discover that the city rolls up the sidewalks on holidays and all of the stuff downtown remains closed. Resorting to Yelp, I called around and couldn't find anything open. We drove around until we found Tomatino's. I'm glad that we found this oasis of gastronomic delight not far from the deserted wasteland of central Montgomery. There's a fine balance between putting a substantial amount of toppings on a pizza and actually cooking a pizza to the point of doneness (is that a word?). Too little topping, you can get a cracking, well-done bottom crust every time. You also (or I could, at least) could eat an extra-large pizza constructed in that fashion by yourself and feel like you had worked to get fed. Too much topping and the bottom crust will rarely get brown (or brownish), maybe it even gets soggy, before the toppings are reduced to carbon molecules. Tomatino's managed to both load that pie up with toppings AND get the bottom crust done to perfection. The top crust was even better, having a nice crunch and a delicious flavor (see picture for crusty goodness). We got a medium. Half meat, half combo. Neither of us could finish our half, so I took a go-box and had a snack half-way back to Pensacola. I'm pretty stingy with five-star reviews and I don't wax hyperbolic about pizza often, but this was some absolutely incredible pizza. Beers, they got some that I had never seen or drank. As we were about to get on the road, I didn't get crazy, but I did quaff a few. This is a small place and seating is dear, but we were cozy and it was a splendid cap to a fine weekend in Montgomery.

I really enjoy this down home pizZa place, salads are good with the Orange vinegar dressing!

  • John C.

Pizza was good. We tried four different pizzas and the meat pizza was the best. I do believe if they did not use pizza screens and just cooked on the deck the pizza would be much better, but that is just my preference. Still a good pie.

This is a really good artisan pizza place off the beaten track in Montgomery. I've been here a couple of times over the years, and every time it's been good. It is a very small restaurant, so if you have more that 4 people I don't think it'll work. Since everything is fresh made to order it also takes more time than your typical place for lunch. This past visit both I am by dining companion ordered items with custom toppings. I ordered a calzone with Prosciutto and Portobello Mushroom, and it was quite good. Sauce was okay, not too sweet. Next time I might try a pizza with spinach, feta, and maybe sun dried tomatoes. Parking can be tricky, but we were there for a late lunch, so no worries for us. I can see it would be more difficult around noon.

  • Charles K.

This is the best pizza place in Montgomery. I have never been disappointed. The pizzas cost a lil bit more than your average chain, but it is definitely worth it.

  • Yolanda J.

Every pizza that I've gotten here has been great. I love food with good flavor. This pizza is jumping lol

  • Nathan G.

Food was good. Service was poor. One person to serve, run the cash register, and bus tables. What the heck? That's crummy management.

  • Jason K.

Hands down, the best pizzeria in Montgomery! Made fresh, tastes great! The city lacks good Italian food, this gem in old cloverdale makes the drive worth it!

  • Brad S.

The goal of making fresh wholesome pizzas with local organic or better quality ingredients than the competition is admirable, but Missy Mercer is a baker, and there's a fundamental difference between baking bread and baking pizza dough. The crust of a Tomatinos pizza is like a nice piece of focaccia - chewy, but a little too crusty, a little too dense, and with not nearly enough time in the oven to develop that little bit of char. Tomatinos pizzas also seem to suffer from the California Pizza Kitchen effect of dumping tremendous piles of ingredients on the pie. The Mediterranean pizza contains eight ingredients and three cheeses, making for a slice that is literally weighed down by the sum of its parts. The combination of provolone and mozzarella made the pizza thick and cloying. The crust tasted good, and the sauce was well-seasoned, but it's easy to overdo pizza. We come for the sauce, crust, and cheese. A few toppings can help accentuate things, but it shouldn't be the focus of the pie.

  • Nick W.

Slow service, not very kid friendly, completely unprepared for a modest lunch rush and the 12" cheese pizza was not good enough to justify the $13.75 price. Also, the bakery and smoothie side ran out of bananas for smoothies and wouldn't accept a credit card charge for less than $5 for a couple cookies. Save your money and time and skip this dud.

Delicious! We stopped on our way back to Atlanta from New Orleans. It's close to 85. Ordered the pepperoni & jalapeño and it was delish!!

Om nom nom. Creative and classic pizzas cooked to perfection. This is truly a gem in Montgomery. Small, but comfortable , a little divey and super fun. Love this place.

  • Heather B.

Best pizza ever! The only better I've found was in Helen, GA. Found it traveling to the beach on Yelp and the 5 star reviews were true. It is small and you may have to wait longer than most places but is well worth it. The toppings were all super fresh and even the marinara sauce was freshly made. Yummy! I wouldn't recommend parties larger than 4 due to seating.

Stopped in on a road trip after reading about it on Yelp! Absolutely fantastic! No disappointment here! Friendly staff and super fresh ingredients. The portions were so huge we wondered whether giants live in Alabama! Lovely neighborhood and easy to find off interstate!

According to some people, this was a good place to check out. So they came here in a HUGE group of 10 people and I arrived as the eleventh wheel on a Thursday night after having had dinner already. People ordered drinks, and 4 insane pizzas with like 6 topping each (overkill much?). I wasn't drinking b/c of sheer exhaustion and having to drive home later. The pizzas were good but nothing to rave about. What pissed me off the most is that the waitress just split the check 11 ways and handed us each a tab for $23, without telling anyone if the tip were already included (they were), or giving us a list of all the shit that was on the tab to begin with. How we ended up with a bill of over $250 for 4 pizzas and a few drinks is beyond me. Moreover, I had already had dinner, ordered no drinks, and tried a single slice of their pizza. And was indiscriminately stuck with a $23 bill. That's an expensive slice guys. The waitress took my bill off when I told her the situation. I want to pay for my food, just not $23 for a slice of pizza or be put in that awkward situation to begin with. It's understandable that splitting the tab is difficult to do with a huge group, next time, just hand a total tab to one person.

I ordered a small margherita pizza and it was delicious! Warm and friendly staff, as well. I'll certainly be back next time I visit Montgomery!

Solid pizza place. Got the meat lovers with some additions. Good stuff!

    (4)
  • Seth R.

Pizza is okay. We had the vegetarian: crust was good, though a bit soggy from the mass of cheese. We baked it off in the oven and it was crisper, but there was simply too much cheese, resulting in a heavy, super-rich pizza.

    (3)
  • Brittani M.

The good is great! It took a little while for the food to get to me, but it was worth the wait. Good portion sizes, and very reasonable prices.

    (5)
  • Heather C.

If I could give it a 3.5 , I would. I think the crust is decent, the sauce really good, and some of the toppings are good. The veggies are too big for my taste-- they stay crunchy and it is hard to get more than one in each bite. That being said, the margherita is pretty good if you get it with roasted garlic rather than raw, and the Sicilian is really great. There is a table in the back that will seat a larger group if you go with a party.

    (4)
  • Ginny G.

It's right next door to my favorite coffee shop in Montgomery, so it was destined that sooner or later I'd end up grabbing a bite to eat here. Amazing pizza pies. The crust is perfect. Had a good experience with the ambiance and wait staff when we were here so I'm not real sure what all the fuss was about in a couple of the other highlighted reviews. Excited to try it again!

  • Taheerah B.

in undergrad, this was the place where I would go when I skipped classes. The pizza is made from fresh ingredients, and the taste is AMAZING!!!! Even now, I try to make my way here whenever I am in town. I love the neighborhood, the atmosphere in the restaurant, and the staff. if you must get pizza in Montgomery, skip the franchises and come here!

    (5)
  • Steph G.

Super yummy pizza! You can tell that it's so fresh and that first bite is just sooooo delicious. My husband and I got a margherita and a supreme pizza and nothing was left to take home...we devoured everything! Only downfall is they have limited seating so if they are busy you will have to wait a bit. Totally worth it though!

  • Jenn W.

Love this pizza! We were stopping in Montgomery for the night on our drive down to Florida and had already satisfied our BBQ craving earlier in the day, so we decided to grab a pizza to take back to our hotel. We ordered a large Sicilian and a Greek salad. The ingredients were fresh and you could really taste the difference. We had a great meal and would eat here all of the time if we lived in the area.

Tomatinos is A-OK! (definition of three stars). Great service, nice atmosphere, good looking menu, I really have no significant complaints. The toppings were fresh and plentiful, I mean the pizza looked like a pizza you want to eat. I just didn't fall in love with the flavors. I feel like I'm breaking up with someone writing this review. Tomatinos, I WANT to love you, but there's just something that is missing, and I can't quite put my finger on it. You're the only place that comes even remotely close to being a cool pizza place in poor little Montgomery. But don't worry. It's not you, it's me. P.S.- Be advised, the staff was reluctant to accept the Yelp check-in Offer on my phone- they were claiming that it had to be printed out, which is indicated nowhere and is actually impossible since you can't "check-in" on a computer, only your phone

We will be back! Order the Breadsticks with the marinara - different from the "run-of-the-mill" breadsticks and the marinara was the best I've ever had. The pizza was good and it was definitely hand-made. The crust had good flavor. I ordered thin crust and wished it would have been thinner as it was more hand- tossed, but that didn't affect the taste of the pizza as it was still very good. Service was okay. The waitress was very nice, but service was a little slow. However, the food was worth the wait. If you want a "fancy up-to-date" place then you need to go elsewhere. If you want Great Pizza & Breadsticks, then come here.

I think I set my expectations too high. I dined here based on stars and not on reviews. I was expecting to be wowed but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I came alone and was moderately hungry. I ordered the small margarita and added pepperoni. It was more than enough to satisfy my hunger. They mention garlic on the pizza but it dominated everything. I suppose you should expect an overwhelming garlic flavor but it just didn't go with the pizza as a whole. The biggest disappointment was that the pizza was severely lacking in fresh basil. I think I counted only a few tiny basil leaves. The sauce was too liquidy and bogged down the crust. I did like the outer crust though. Nice and crispy and not too heavy. Check this place out at least once but I don't see myself rushing back here. Service was very friendly and you can see the entire kitchen from the large window on the sidewalk. Atmosphere was very casual.

Best pizza in Montgomery but not astonishing. Salads are lackluster and cheese foccacia is a miss. I'd suggest maybe the white pizza or veggie. If you want pizza with decent quality ingredients, then come here as they have a mind to taste and quality. Although it's not mind-blowing, it is the best in Montgomery and will leave you happy with the quality being over and beyond anything else you can find by way of pizza in this town.

    (4)
  • Tra S.

It was good, i came here to be wowed because of all the spectacular reviews, but it was pizza. Iv had better sauce else where, I like the toppings they offer but I was expecting above par pizza. The salads were standard-- home made ranch was great and the shiitake dressing was yummooo! Service was great-- girl was very friendly and on top of what we wanted.

Best pizza in Montgomery! I've been trying to find New York style pizza all over this city and I've finally found it! I love this place! It's in the cute Cloverdale location and the place itself is pretty cute. You can dine in and also check out Cafe Louisa right next to it for some yummy treats!

This place has been on our list to try since we moved here. Had the opportunity to go tonight and it was fabulous. Got a table right away, server came by and said she would be right back and she was! Very nice young lady-she got our drinks quickly, took our order and was taking care of the entire place by herself. Our pizza came out and it was really good. Sausage, pepperoni & mushrooms. Perfect. By the time we left there was a 10-15 minute wait. Obviously a favorite of many. It just goes to show you what happens when good service and good food comes together.

  • Bob B.

Tomatinos has the best pizza in Montgomery. Ambience is great - and despite its small size they have a larger area in the back for a larger group. Salads are excellent as well. I'd disagree with the review that they're too crunchy, very fresh with the right amount of bake. Probably would get the extra star for draft beer and/or a soda fountain. Great spot!

    (4)
  • Bryan M.

I LOVE cloverdale and love stopping in to Tomatino's for pizza. You can get regular dough or whole wheat. All the pizzas are great: you get a nice helping of toppings. Sometimes it's almost too much (especially when I get a veggie pizza) and I end up choosing a margarita pizza.

After eating here every week for the last year it's still a great place. Ask for the waitress Cammie.

  • Skeet L.

I have to put this pizza in my top 5 ever. We stopped by on our way back to Pensacola. We wanted pizza so we looked at the best ranked pizza place in Montgomery which was where we would be around dinner time. Tomatinos was the top pizza joint in Montgomery--I can see why--great pizza! I had the pizza supreme, my wife had the Mediterranean pizza which normally come with a red sauce, but they were happy to change it to a white sauce. Both were great.

    (5)
  • Jan S.

I had heard good things about Tomatinos as being a place with locally sourced ingredients which definitely interests me. Though they don't have a gluten-free, vegan pizza I still wanted to check it out. I was thrilled when I ordered a garden salad and it came in a huge bowl with lots of different veggies. This is the way salad should be! It was fresh and the dressing was just right. I hear the pizza was good too. :)

It's alright. The place is hip in a weird way - the floor tiles took me back to my kindergarten days - square, speckled, and multi-colored. Nice little cozy area in the back for a mid-sized group. Pizza was decent, but I wish the menu had a bit more variety to it - there was no pasta listed. Decent length wine and beer menu, but nothing particularly special was listed. The waitress was friendly but she forgot to bring my friend his salad. Like completely forgot. Like he had to walk up to her and remind her after we were almost finished eating our pizzas. The pizza itself was just alright - nothing smack-the-table worthy but not too shabby either. A small size is under $10 and plenty for one person.

  • D H.

I wanted to love you. Great atmosphere despite inside temperatures over 80 degrees. The waitress was obviously flustered and extremely rude. Didn't know the beers. Messed up order. Didn't care about it. Did fix it though but had lots of attitude.

    (2)
  • Bill R.

This is definitely the best pizza in the area. I really enjoyed the pizza here. We ordered a mushroom and pepperoni and a meat lovers. Both of them were great. The sauce did not taste like it was from a can. And the crust was deliciously doughy. The beer selection offered 25 different choices with half being the usual suspects. The other half were imports. This is where I will be eating pizza for the next six weeks.

Solid pizza, a real lifesaver on a long road trip. Nice staff, cool atmosphere. Fair prices for the quality. Worth a visit.

The "style" reminded me of the superior Satchel's in Gainesville (FL), Sally O'Neal's Pizza Hotline in Tampa; the about equal Lupi's in Chattanooga; and inferior Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta. Really liked the cheese. All ingredients are of high quality including the toppings. The family and I split pepperoni and Canadian bacon. From the homemade dough, to the sauce, toppings, and especially the cheese, all the Yelpsin's approved. Cute, short-haired brunette waitress was also very good. We'll keep them on our radar for future travels.

  • Kisente F.

Best pizza I've ever had. I love it when pizzas are made with real, fresh ingredients. The people in here do a great job in balancing the cheese, sauce, dough and toppings. I would give this place a 5 star, but the price is a little high and it would be nice to have a better sitting area.

  • J.P. M.

Best pizza joint in town hands down! They use very good ingredients and make every thing very fresh, the calzones are awesome to. Atmosphere is nice looks like Little Italy NYC. Love the back room, very good for a group of friends. Keep in mind drinks come in can and you dont get free refills only downside to this place.

Great little local pizza place with very friendly staff and pretty good pizza! No beer on tap but they do have a nice selection of bottled craft beers. Probably one of my favorite places to go in Montgomery.

I have enjoyed a beer and great pizza in old Cloverdale at Tomations in the past and brought my new husband on a recent Sunday evening. We could not believe the wait staff there. The music was very loud when we went in. It was not only loud but running ads and with music that was clearly picked out for the enjoyment of the young staff and not anything to do with the quiet enjoyment of a meal, even a casual meal. We sat with it awhile thinking we'd get used to it but it was impossible to have a conversation and was really getting on our nerves. We asked the gal behind the counter if she could turn it down. She replied "yes" but didn't do anything about it. Our waitress asked if everything was okay and when we complained again about the noise, she turned off the radio for us--bliss! at last we could enjoy the really good food that had been prepared. The first gal we talked to (from behind the counter) comes to the table and asks how we are doing. We tell her "Great-now!". She then immediately turns the music back on and just as loud. Unbelievable! We asked for boxes and got out as fast as we could. Not only were the staff unwilling to listen to our request but were in an actual power struggle over it. The idea of enjoying good food in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere seems to not be part of the concern or interest in this restaurant. Too bad because their pizza is really terrfic. Wouldn't have been nice if they had turned off the radio for the half hour we were there and created loyal customers instead of suiting themselves?

This is a great place to chill and grab some pizza. Seating is limited so arrive early. Pizza is great and the atmosphere fits perfectly in the artistic Old Cloverdale setting. Check out the Cafe next door for a great cup of Joe. Downer: if you're a soda drinker, they serve by the can only so refills are full price.

  • Lindsey R.

My husband & I came here on a Sunday, around 6:30 PM. We were seated immediately. I ordered a small Mediterranean pizza and my husband got a meatball & mushroom calzone. The food took a little while to come out, but was totally worth the wait. We played trivia on his phone while rocking out to my FAVE Sirius channel (34! Whichever employees chose that, you ROCK!) My husband ate his calzone so fast I barely caught a glimpse of it, but it was big and he said it 'hit the spot.' My pizza was delicious and piled with fresh veggies. Even though it was a small and I'm pregnant, I still took home 2 pieces my husband demolished later that night. I really liked how we didn't have 1 specific server, if any employee was walking by our booth and saw we needed something or our waters were empty, they took care of it. Our food did sit up on the warmer for a few minutes (within eyesight) before it was brought out to us, they probably could have used 1 more employee on that night. We will be back and I am disgusted I ever ate at Mellow Mushroom after eating here.

Should be called "Tomatinos Pizza & Great Shop" We hit tomatinos at lunch time on a Thursday. The place was packed, but we still managed a table. The seating is a little cramped when a lot of people start leering for your table, but the food was worth it. Being such a small place, this might be more ideal for take out than dine in. Although, if you had friends that frequented the Cloverdale neighborhood, this would be a great place to meet up. The food: organic flours, fresh dough made every day, and unrefined sugars and salt. what's not to love? We ordered cheese sticks and the medium Bianca Pizza, and split between 2 of us. It was more than we could eat. The marinara for the cheese sticks was so sweet. It was a nice change from the over acidic marinaras in the typical place. Atmosphere: I always think local art for sale on the walls is a good sign. Even if you don't like the art, they are supporting the art community, and local folks. The place is a little loud, but I did notice they seemed to have a back dining room that no one was using, which would be quieter. One reason to dine in: Wine of the month. Parking may be difficult on the street with all the other places. I was only in town on business for 3 days. If I'm ever back, I will have to return to this joint, and try the other pizzas

The ONLY place to get pizza in Montgomery. It's so good, I'm spoiled when I go to any other city and nothing compares. I wish the dining area was bigger because there is NOTHING better than their pizza when it's hot. It's still delicious when I get home (a few blocks away) but there is nothing better than this pizza when it's piping hot.

The pizza is excellent and the staff has a good attitude. It would be nice if they had a slightly better selection of beer, like some craft beers or something, but other than that, it's a stellar place.

1 of the top 3 pizza joints in The Gump. Walking in reminded me of Little Five Points in Atlanta, or pretty much any cool downtown pizza restaurant. Pizza is good, great beer selection. Soda comes in a can, so don't expect free refills. The staff is - what you'd expect from a off-beat restaurant. :) If you come to The Gump and don't eat here, you're missing out.

Once I stepped into this quaint little pizzeria, I thought I was back in NYC. The decor, the staff, everything was a sign that we were about to eat some good pizza! And we sure did. We had to wait a bit for a table, which we didn't mind. I really enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle of the kitchen while waiting. Also the take-out orders were non-stop. All the ingredients are fresh and I believe most are organic. There are a ton of tasty vegetarian options, as a previous yelper had also mentioned. I'm extremely excited to find a place like this in Montgomery! This is definitely a place I would take someone who was visiting from out of town! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is sick and tired of the big chain restaurants!

  • Sean M.

No frills, great pizza. Not cheap, but worth it. House salad was huge & had more ingredients than you'd expect (olives, tomatoes, etc). Service was average, as usual. Sodas come in cans so if you want refills, go with 'cup' of water or tea. Would've rated as strong 4 but I found a hair in my salad. Unfortunate. Small pizza & salad are plenty to share for a couple...just request extra plates.

  • Adam S.

The pizza is very tasty and they have a nice selection of toppings. Most of the staff is kind of hippyish, so the service can be a little spotty, but it's worth a trip.

We needed a place to eat, for we were going to see a foreign film at the Capri Theatre across the street (which is really good by the way). Tomatino's looked good, it smelled good; so, we went inside. The place is fairly small inside and there's a few tables outside, but we chose to sit inside. The small but quaint place really has a great atmosphere as a neighborhood pizza parlor, and they didn't fail to deliver. We ordered bread sticks for an appetizer, and they were fantastic. They seemed exceptionally fresh and homemade; they also came with a side of great pizza sauce for dipping. I probably could have made an entire meal on these, but we ordered a pizza instead. The pizza itself was very high quality; the crust was on par with the bread sticks and the sauce was very good, tasting of fresh herbs and ingredients. The pizza overall was very good, comparing with some of the better pizzas I've had in Europe. Also, the neighborhood of Cloverdale, where Tomatino's is located, is very, very beautiful with many older houses that are just fun to look at. If you have spare time, or maybe waiting for a movie to start at the Capri, take a stroll through town and take a look at the great architecture, trees, and the nearby college.

Took the advice of my fellow YELPers on this place. Restrauant is in a very nice location in Montgomery, however the food is just average at best. I think it has the ingrediants for great food, however their sauce is just lacking good flavor...very bland. It does have a pretty cool atmosphere, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. Expect to spend about 10 dollars a person. Less if you share a pizza.

The hostess tucked our fam of 5 into a booth in the back of the restaurant. It felt like a private room which was perfect for my wiggly 4 year old son. Disappointed to receive a can of Diet Coke, but the pizza hit the spot. Service was slow. Tomatino's is connected to a cafe, which also serves gelato. Definitely worth the short trip from I-65 as we traveled through Montgomery.

Best pizza in Montgomery. Wheat or white crust available. Flavorful sauce. Amazing selection of toppings. Gourmet pizza for sure. Good salads too.

While traveling through Montgomery on the way to Orange Beach with the wife and kids we needed a dinner stop. Yelped and Tomatinos came up, so we decided to bite. They have a great location in the Cloverdale Park area of Montgomery, near Huntingdon College. I have never really seen much of Montgomery, and found this area absolutely charming. We ended picknicking in the park on the way back home! Service was terrific, food was very good, and the price was reasonable. Good atmosphere with great classic tunes playing. We had the margherita, cheese, and house special pizzas, with a side order of the breadsticks. Way too much food for 4, but great leftovers! We do not regret the short side trip to find this place from I-65. It was just the break we needed for a great dinner meal.

Great atmosphere, food, location and everything else! From the wonderful pizzas to the calzones, I have never ever been disappointed. It has kind of a bohemian feel to the joint and most of the employees are from the local college, which gives it a good, intelligent feel. And the smell is divine! Quit being cheap and go get some real pizza!

Great pizza and calzones. It is a nice little Italian place by Huntingdon College. Parking and seating are limited but it is well worth a try.

I can see why people like this place - it's funky and hip and in a great neighborhood. We liked the atmosphere and feel of the place. We had the greek salad which was awesome - all the ingredients were beautiful, fresh and crisp. Large squares of fresh feta were amazing - made the salad. It was served in a big bowl with the ingredients piled in groups on top which made it easier for us to dish up separate bowls and serve ourselves the things we like and avoid what we didn't. I don't like olives so having them in a pile to the side made it nice to not have to pick them off as I ate. The pizza was ok. I'm from NY and I have lived in Italy - it's not a thin crust pizza at all but it's not a huge thick crust either. Definitely in the middle of those two. It was a little overcooked, so the outer crust was burned and it took a very long time to arrive at our table. They do a brisk pick up service; we watched a lot of people pick up orders and walk in off the street to order. Theirs were ordered and prepared and they were out the door before ours was brought out. The ingredients are top notch though. Long story short, I would go there again, but only if I was in the area. I wouldn't travel out of my way or make a special trip to go.

love the pizzas here...pricey but worth it....just make sure you stay away from the orange balsamic dressing to go with the salads...=orange juice + balsamic...yuck!

What's the best pizza joint in Montgomery? Most folks will tell you it's Mellow Mushroom, but don't count out this locally-owned-and-operated bake shop across from the Capri Theatre. The crust on a Mellow Mushroom pizza is indeed superior to that of Tomatino's, but for consistency and quality of the ingredients on the pizza itself, no one beats Tomatino's in this city. If you're a meat pizza fanatic, this place will become your second home. Tomatino's has both pizza and calzones, and is also famous for their salads-- mainly because the salads are unbelievably enormous-- and for their focaccia bread, which I admit is outstanding. Try their focaccia sandwiches, or better yet, their amazing soups. The Soup of the Day is almost always a pleasant surprise, especially when they're offering the vegetable and sausage soup. Piping hot focaccia bread is included with every bowl.

Great little place. I sat at the coffee shop next door because they were too busy at lunch time. You can still order from both places and the pizza was pretty good.

Favorite place to drop in for a slice, a crisp salad and a simple glass of wine. My husband's something of a pizza snob and he loves this place. Service is casual but great. They always seem genuinely happy you've come in.

Drove here from a local hotel after reading the reviews. Good pizza, although I thought the size was small compared to the price. Small inside so I can see how it would be challenging with a big group. I ordered take out and it took about as long as I expected. I would order from them again. The coffee shop next door was very cool. I would probably love this place if I lived in the area.

Yep - I went back again for dinner. Oh my goodness! I had a calzone this time and it was amazing! The magic ingredient was most certainly the "Alabama Goat Cheese", a premium topping that comes at only $1. I combined it with sun dried tomatoes, spicy tofu and shittaki mushrooms for one heck of a dinner. The marinara comes on the side, as it should, and is rich with strong tomato taste. As a crowning glory, I brought home an order of their berry bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Delicious! The sauce is creamy and sweet, with a good tang of the whiskey. The bread pudding itself? It was firm yet appropriately moist and tender and laden with a thick covering of delightful berries. Oh my gosh what a great meal! I also tried a bottle of Vergil's root beer, which is organic and really good. It's made from the ingredients root beer was originally made from, so it's rich and creamy and great. Whether or not you're vegetarian, make sure to get to Tomatinos!

Don't listen to the schmos who say the service is bad... Montana, the head waitress, is great! She served us amazing pizza and was fun. Get the Bianco and the Summer Garden Pizza... they will pretty much change your life. Boom.

The pizza was very good. They have normal toppings, as well as gourmet toppings like goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. The combinations they suggest are great, or you can choose your own. They lunch special is good-a huge slice, a salad, and a drink for around $8. The service wasn't good at all though. There were only 2 workers there, 1 to wait tables and one to make the pizzas. We felt very rushed when we were ordering. The inside is very small, but they do have some outdoor seating. The take out is a great option.

Had the margherita pizza here, and it reminded me of New York. Love it. It's not the best pizza ever, but it's really good, and the atmosphere makes it even better. It's certainly better than any chain.

Tomatinos is, by far, the best pizza place in Montgomery. The only trouble is that Tomatinos is small so it is hard to get a table during peak hours. This is especially true because, like most resturaunts in Old Cloverdale, it is often used as a hangout instead of food-only ordeal.

Stopped while traveling on the road with our family. Elementary - age kids. Had delicious pizza! Kids ate cheese pizza and the cheese sticks, which is basically cheese pizza without sauce. Adults had the Sicilian pizza: roasted red peppers, sliced meat balls, Alabama goat cheese, and caramelized onions. Yum! They offer homemade regular, wheat, and gluten free crusts. GF is only for small sized pizzas. They are connected with the place next-door, which offers gelato, baked goods, etc. We were too full from dinner to take part, however. Very casual atmosphere. Booths, tables, and an area for a large group in the back. Great place! We hope to come back another time if we're driving through.

Delish pizza, the best I've tasted in Montgomery! It's the closest thing to thin crust I've found here. It's thin until you get toward the outer edges then it gets way to thick, but that said it's very good pizza.... seriously, the best I've tasted in this area (and I've tasted a lot). It's a bit pricey, but I'll pay more for a good one. Had the meatball with caramelized onion! YUMMY! The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall literally. It's pretty rundown, kind of beat up. We sat inside once, outside once. Service is fine. Service: Good, 4/5 Food: Good, 4/5 (crust is too thick at outer edge) Value: Good, 4/5 (a bit overpriced) Ambience: Very casual, a couple of outside tables too Would I return: Absolutely!

We stopped through town while road tripping and what a delight! We got a large pizza half Mediterranean half Sicilian and couldn't be happier. Luckily we got a large so had leftovers. The Sicilian has house-baked meatballs and Alabama goat cheese, and caramelized onions. I am of the opinion that caramelized onions can really make a dish sing. It's true in this case, for sure. The Mediterranean was delicious and fresh tasting as well.
