I'm not really sure what to make of this place; way out in the middle of nowhere in a very swanky, brand new neighborhood (compound?). The Tipping Point gives off the feeling of being a Country Club without the golf and tennis courts. The restaurant itself is nice; clean lines, nice bar, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (great place to bring the kids to play). Sat down at the bar and they have an impressive selection of bottled beer and about 5-6 on tap and also served food. The place was about half-full on a Thursday evening even though Auburn was playing that evening. Had a good IPA from Blue Pants Brewery (Alabama brewery) and ordered some food from the kitchen; menu is more along the lines of bar food vs. big plates so went with the "Southern Press" (chicken, bacon, pimento cheese) and the Pork Clouds as a side. Strangely, the Pork Clouds turned out to be a bag of pork rinds vs. homemade ones from the restaurant which is what I was expecting. Turns out they don't make most of their sides; most are in bags (really? seems like a cop out for a place that is trying to be upscale). The sandwich was good but somewhat on the small side for $8. All in all, not a bad place but unless I lived in the area, don't think I'd go out of my way to go back again.

The location is actually off Taylor Rd in the Hampstead area. The menu was small but the food was really good. The Cookie Skillet is just what it sounds like and was very good as well. Great atmosphere!

My cousins and I met up here the other night for a couple of drinks. We hadn't seen each other in years. One has been living in Montgomery for years, I just moved there and another was driving through heading home. We had a great time reconnecting. I found it a tad odd that this place among other stores were in this Hampstead community. Apparently Montgomery has a few of these places where they try to make it a little nuclear town where you never have to leave. Interesting. I got there first around 6pm and everyone was really nice. Because I am not a resident, I was unsure how the "locals" would react. I got a few looks but the staff was accommodating and courteous. My server had to shim a table for me, and didn't have an issue when I chose instead to move to the back area in the lounge The lounge area was very nice. More like sitting in someone's living room versus a "bar". The server brought the menus and I was blown away by the list of beers alone. He then explained that the list was all of the beers that they have had there and all of them weren't always available. The beer specials were amazing. I went with the Unobtanium which is a truly fantastic beer that's been aged in whiskey casks. It was SO good I had three over the course of the night. The patrons became friendlier over the night too. I invited a couple to come to our area since I had more available space. They introduced us to the Trio appetizer. We had pita bread with three different types of spreads: hummus, a buffalo chicken with blue cheese in it and pimento cheese. I know I am DEFINITELY not a pimento cheese fan from years of visiting Augusta National during the Masters, but this one was DELICIOUS. They also had a live band after about 7pm or so. They were pretty good; playing many current tunes as well as some old hits from R&B, pop and rock. Very impressive. One other thing... after a few UnObtaniums, I visited the men's room and it was SPECTACULARLY clean, like you were in someone's home. Very telling for a joint that has been there for a few years. Hats off to the owner, who I had the pleasure of meeting at closing. Great guy! All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I got in trouble with the wife because I stayed over the time I allotted myself. I plan on taking her over there soon so she can understand why. lol

The best hot dog I've ever had! This place is off the beaten path and a jewel of a place! The architecture is a bit odd with garage door style walls that open up for more open seating. There's a cool little picnic area to the north side of the building that's great for kids. The food menu here is really small: wraps, sandwiches, hot dogs, sides and desserts pretty much. Their beer menu on the other hand....well....it's like ginormous! I had their Carolina dog and was seriously blown away at how good it is. I mean 1/4 pounds of kosher frank layered on TOP of bbq pork and topped with delicious toppings...how can you go wrong? I had the tomato/cucumber side and that was delicious too. And if that isn't enough, the cookie skillet ala mode was a heckuva lot better than the last pizookie I had at BJ's. All in all, the food is great, albeit a small menu, and the beer is top notch. Top that with a 10% military discount and/or 10% off for yelpers and you have a winning combination! I'll be back!

The Tipping Point has a huge selection of beers, and they always have local (well, made in Alabama) options on draft and in cans. The wine list is short but serviceable - props for an excellent rosé. I will eat anything with their pimento cheese on it, and when it's as hot as it is now, the TCF (tomato-cucumber-feta Israeli couscous salad) is a perfect choice. The staff are pleasant, smart, and helpful, even when it's busy. We consider this our neighborhood bar and wouldn't have it any other way. And holy god the cookie skillet!

Great food, excellent service. Best beer selection anywhere in southern Alabama. We're here a couple times a week. VERY kid/family friendly. They tweek the food menu a few times a year. They host great events raising money for local groups (schools, humane society, etc.). Live music most Fri/Sat nights. Excellent laid back vibe, great drinks, great bar food. Highly recommend.

Good spot with friends for a beer and a hot dog. I like the atmosphere. There were about 60 bottled beers to choose from. I had a Claymore Scotch Ale from the Great Divide Brewing and a pretzel dog. I will go here again to try something else on the menu. I encountered three different staff who each frequently asked if I needed anything. They offer a 10% discount for military or 10% discount for checking in on Yelp. The prices were reasonable.

My favorite restaurant in Montgomery by far. Love the Cubano sandwich. The venue is fantastic - very cool interior and the outside area is a hit with the kids. Kind of hipster for Montgomery, but in a good way.

Really good place for a beer (constantly rotating taps) in the outside seating area. Food is better-than-average bar food. Staff is very friendly--this is one of my go-to places.

Yelp reviewers often go in just harping on the bad, wanting to be offended and write about it, especially with just one visit. I happen to fall into that category for this particular review. So, for montgomery, this place was great. Beer selection was superb. The only key con is that they 'seem' to not be able to flex for surges in people or large crowds. That is an understandable issue though. Montgomery isnt exactly swarming with people. Upon my next visit, im sure this place will get 4 stars. Location is strange but doable, decor is interesting.

The Hampstead development is very much still in, well, development, but until it finishes getting built, it's anchored by a couple of solid places to eat - one of which is The Tipping Point. The bar is incredibly active for being in the middle of nowhere, offering constant live music, kids movies, and tap takeovers. Other people have mentioned the large beer menu and the focused food menu, so I won't harp on it. The dogs are fairly expensive for being only a quarter pound, but on half of them you get at least that much additional weight in some other kind of meat, whether pulled pork or chili, so it works out to be a good deal. Not that I ordered a hot dog - the Cuban sandwich was on order for me today. The pressed sandwich was made true to form, with plenty of ham and pulled pork to go along with the standard accoutrements. Very nice. Less nice was the four dollars I paid for the beer pickles. I assumed it was beer-battered pickles, but instead it appeared to be pickled cucumbers and okra that were sitting in beer. It seemed a bit gimmicky for the price, and I wouldn't order them again. Service was slow, of which they were readily aware and apologized profusely. I wasn't in any rush, so I didn't mind, though I think as popularity grows they'll have to get some additional people to meet demand, because The Tipping Point is everything I look for in a great bar - large, open space, tremendous beer selection, and some good eats.

Sam and Amanda are great people that make you feel neighborly and welcomed! I've patronized the Tip about four or five times and each time is different and better. There was a band one night while my daughter slid down a hill with other kids with card board. Oh the simple life. Then once we left the sprinkler system at the fountain washed off the dirt from the hill. I paused and remembered my childhood. It was priceless. At the Tipping Point you will make unlikely friends and memories. I've felt welcomed from day one. I plan to try it all in the menu. So far the Yogi Cuban and the Turkey Spin got my attention!!!

Sometimes you just want to relax and enjoy a good beer paired with great food. This restaurant nails it. The atmosphere is great. The service is prompt and friendly, and definitely knowledgeable about their menu and beer pairings. I really can't think of anything negative to say about our experience. We'll definitely be visiting again (and again)!

This establishment is fantastic! Between the service and the food, I can't complain about a single thing! We came with 6 adults and 5 kids and they were so gracious to accommodate our wild party. At night, this is a happening place to be, with over 30 specialty beers. During the afternoon, it is VERY family friendly...in fact when we arrived, a baby shower was just wrapping up. We ordered from every section of the menu, my very finicky Mother was thrilled with the pimento cheese mini sandwiches and the little bits loved the pulled pork (although the 6 yo thought it was a bit "spicy"). I had the trio and enjoyed the curried chicken salad, hummus and cucumber, tomato, feta salad. I had to fight my hubby off of my curried chicken salad. But I stole half of his Carolina Dog (a dog without equal) so I can't really complain. I was beyond impressed with The Tipping Point and will stop here every time I visit Montgomery. Dana was our very attentive hostess, and incredibly helpful. I can't wait to come back!!

I really love the establishments in Hampstead. This is a great place to hang out for a cool drink with some great friends. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. They serve up some great smoothies and sandwiches, (a bit skimpy but good) which are made with fresh, artisanal bread from Ham and High. They had live music when we were there one afternoon. There are also some games and a nice hill for climbing in the back for the kids!

Yummy food. The entire family, including the toddler, loves the pimento cheese. I've had the curry chicken salad, pimento cheese, TCF (tomato, cucumber, feta) salad with flatbread wedges. Their hotdogs are delish (husband tried the Carolina dog), chili is tasty, and the BBQ flat was a big hit with the oldest child. The two littlest ones like the kids' menu with option of applesauce or chips. They, of course, have tasty craft brews on tap, which change every so often. We've only been there twice, but have vowed to make it a regular place. One of two places that I want I return to here in Montgomery.

The food is not that great but the beers are awesome. Also if the grass hill is open again, the kids loved it. The only thing that taste decent to me is the "BLT" which has spinach in place of lettuce. The service is also mightly slow and the waiters/waitresses always seem to be overwhelmed. BUT it is a beer garden and when we go, it's usually for the beer.

Great lunch or dinner + drinks spot. Their warm pita with three sides is my favorite (I like the slaw, tomato cucumber feta salad, and curry chicken salad the best). They have a wide selection of craft beer and a few cocktail and wine options, too. The place is very family and dog friendly. It's fun to watch kids slide down the grass hill on pieces of cardboard. It is usually very busy on weekends, so sometimes it takes quite a while to get your order. They are willing to host events outside in their side gardens and it can be magical when the lights are strung up and twinkling.

The venue is tucked away in the Hampstead development. A single building with sidewalk parking. The furnishing & environment are very pleasant & calm. Great place for a quiet business lunch or with a good friend. I ordered the BLT. It had good ingredients but is served on a roll that becomes really pasty much in the middle. It's also a lot of bread in a world weening away from carbs. The bacon was crispy, the spinach was fresh & the tomatoes were just right. The pickle was also crisp but well pickled. A pleasant experience altogether but SLOW. Over 30 minutes to get a BLT. The table next to mine (who arrived shortly after me) inquired about the status of their order as they seemed concerned (as was I) that their order might have been lost. There were maybe 12 customers in the restaurant at the time, so it was unclear why simple orders took so long. The staff was friendly and prompt except that I usually expect after 20-30 minutes to get a "your food will be out soon." Looks like they also have some comfort foods, so if you've had a long day, this looks like a great place to wrap up. I won't go out of my way to come here again, but if you're local it seems like a good option.

Great hang out spot. Comfortable seating , although when I visited it was super packed. I loved the hummus flatbread and wine, especially with the yelp check in deal. Everything tastes better with a discount! There was live music playing pretty loudly which made it difficult to hear conversation. I was surprised to see so many people with infants still in carriers while all this was happening.

The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. I went with my sister and nephew on a Saturday night. It wasn't super busy, but there was no space for the three of us inside so we ended up sitting outside. Our waitress came and took our order for drinks and an appetizer right away. And that was all we saw of her for about an hour. About 10 minutes after we got our drinks, someone else ( I think the manager) took our order. After about 45 minutes we still hadn't received our food. Then the waitress finally came back out and asked if we needed anything. We said our food and she seemed surprised. 15 minutes later we finally got our food. I had the Chicago dog. It tasted ok, but it was a little cold, like it had been sitting for awhile. This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant, but I'm willing to give them another chance.

Awesome selection of draft and bottled/canned beer. Menu is diverse but not huge. Most the food is pretty simple, but great. Very relaxed atmosphere. There is outside seating, and a "hill" for kids to play on. Very cool place. In most large cities with a lot going on, I'd give this a 4, but in Montgomery, AL, it's a solid 5. One of the best places in town.

Beer selection tips this place to a 4. If they can fix their super slow service they will get my five stars. Great place to relax and let the kids run around. Yes, they let kids run around---outside at least.

This place is awesome, and I'm not just saying this because it's Alabama. It really is awesome. Great atmosphere, good food, and a fantastic selection of both draft and bottled beers. The staff was really great too...they sprung into action when my child got sick in the restaurant. They didn't make us feel bad, but instead help clean her up and clean up the table. I was really impressed! Highly recommend this place. The "TCF" is great along with the "Southern Press". And for dessert...the cookie skillet ice cream thing was a must have!

This place was absolutely amazing. We drove in from St. Louis, 9 hours in the car with two kids and this is the first place we stopped to eat in Montgomery and we were not disappointed. First and foremost the pimento cheese that we got as an appetizer with flatbread was out of this world. I'm not a huge fan of pimento cheese but if this place made it for the entire world I don't think there would be anyone who would not eat pimento cheese. After the pimento cheese and a nice cold Yuengling that came from the over 60 different beers that they have in bottles, I moved on to the Carolina dog. The Carolina dog was one of their all beef hotdogs cooked to perfection and paired with amazing pulled pork and a Carolina coleslaw. All of that was topped on one of their fresh made oversized hotdog rolls and it turned out to be one of the most amazing combinations of flavors I've had in a long time. The place itself is nice I would recommend you try to go during a nonpeak time with kids because seating is hightops and couches with a limited number of normal tables. We were absolutely thrilled with the service the food the location and the decor. We will definitely be going back.

This place is a GEM! I live in Florida, but haven't seen anyplace like this since I was last in Colorado or California. Very clean, modern but at the same time homey. Fantastic brew selection and fun environment, this place hits the spot for anything from studying to a casual business meeting to Saturday night out. The owner is both genuinely friendly and excellent at creating a fun environment. The food is simple, delicious and well-priced. I seriously will be coming here every chance I get.
