Such an awesome, cozy little restaurant. I had zero issue finding the local (didn't even need the navigation, how wonderful is that for me) and there was also plentiful parking. I was a party of one, so it was really easy to accommodate me. Perfect. I ordered the Seaweed Salad, Daniel's Roll and another roll that alludes my memory at the moment. Everything, including service, was super spectacular. Kudos for the very efficient, quick service. Drinks (Mai Tai) were delicious as well. Such a shame I don't live in the area to partake more often. But definitely give it a try--sushi is very fresh and tasty. You won't be disappointed.

I love this restaurant! It's quaint, quiet gem. I usually go for lunch or to pickup a quick dinner. The servers are always friendly and helpful; the service is always quick and consistent. Oh and the sushi - delicious and consistenly fresh well wrapped bundles of joy. I never get bored with all of their many options that are all reasonably priced. I can't say enough good things to say :)

I'm a sushi addict and have eaten sushi all over the world - this place was definitely one of my best sushi experience. :)

Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping us find this gem. One of the best sushi restaurants we have been to. Excellent meal. Cute decor. Friendly staff. We ordered the Emperors Boat for 4 and it did not disappoint. It was huge and could easily feed 4 hungry adults. It also comes with tempura and the most wonderful salad with sashimi? poke?not certain other than it was so good!!! The best caterpillar rolls I have ever had also the Daniels roll was great. No kids menu but we ordered one chicken teriyaki ($12) for our kids to share and the server brought an extra plate. Huge serving easily feed 2 hungry kids and came with fried rice and fresh stir fried veggies. It looked really good and they enjoyed it. Only cons::: Service was so fast... I actually wished at times they would slow it down so we could just enjoy the meal without worrying about making room on the table for the next rolls. Closed on Sundays. Our meal was so good we came back again the same week but they were closed. :( bummer. We have to wait for another trip to Montgomery one day.

Great little place to grab sushi or Japanese-inspired dishes. I'm pretty picky about sushi and definitely have to be in the mood for it, and I was not on this visit. So I opted for a more traditional dish with shrimp. Shrimp was very tasty, and it came with rice and sautéed vegetables. Good food, for sure. (My dinner companions both went with sushi, and they looked really delicious.) The interior of the restaurant is pretty tiny, but it has a very intimate and homey feel to it. I would certainly revisit this place when I'm back in Montgomery.

It's great for sushi. Their raw menu is outstanding. If you are looking for bento boxes or a hot menu, this is not your place. The tables are very close together and you feel like you are dinning in the laps of the table next to you in some places in the restaurant but if you ask for a booth, you will have room to dine comfortably.

Love the Daniel roll and Texas roll! Also beef bugogli is amazing. Great food, great service! Even if you don't think you like sushi, give it a try.

Always as speedy as possible and dependable rolls. Great lunch menu and always a "thank you" from the chef at the bar. THANK YOU, Sushi Cafe, for being a great place close to home. I only wish you would get new music. Maybe just play the radio instead of piano music. Sometimes I get my rolls to-go so I don't have to sit through a piano arrangement of Spice Girls "Two Become One" for the hundredth time. I know you have to hate it too.

Don't believe the hype. It's good, but not the best. For as busy as they seem to be, they should spend some of the profits on a larger space. Also, I had a very small simple order and the waiter still got it wrong.

Quaint ambiance with soft music playing. Clean restaurant. Sushi is delicious and fresh. Eel was warm as it should be. Yellow tail was cold and fresh. They have their own special rolls which are worth a try. I will be back when in Montgomery.

So surprised to have such wonderful sushi in Montgomery! Fish was fresh, and the special rolls were excellent. Tuna Crunch and Sunset Roll are my favorite, and I also love the Avocado Sunrise appetizer.

Had sushi at three places in the Montgomery area and this place was by far the best. I really liked the black pepper seared tuna roll. Had several other selections but the tuna was the best. Service was good during both visits and the atmosphere is pleasant. Definitely recommend if you need a sushi fix.

I just went here today during lunch (11/24/14). The Bento Box was lack luster because the chicken can't be real. It tasted like McDonalds chicken that was cooked dry and smothered in Teriaki sauce. I physically couldn't eat more than the three bites because it was just awful. The fried rice was a bit dry and sticky (very similar to steamed white rice). I would not recommend getting the chicken Bento Box. However my girlfriend got sushi rolls and was pleased with her meal. What i tasted of her rolls was actually delightful and wholesome. If you go to this place don't expect top of the line meat, but you'll have a good meal if you stick with sushi rolls. all in all a middle of the road experience for me.

Great sushi lunch! Fast, friendly, and attentive staff. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or even a nice business meeting. Great selection of sushi, tempura, and side items. Clean, comfortable, and very inviting atmosphere.

I picked up takeout from here while visiting my parents. I ordered the Daniel special roll and it was delicious. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but trusted the reviews on yelp and I wasn't disappointed. I would love to eat in the restaurant sometime and try more options with my husband. But as for takeout it was fast and yummy. I will definitely go back.

Love the food and always had a great experience until tonight. We have even booked our company Christmas parties over the years here. We had a company dinner and called to reserve a table for 10 people @ 7pm. We were told they do not take reservations after 6pm ... Really? But we can make a reservation for 5:45? We got here at 6:30 and were told all of our party had to be here to be seated. Then when everyone got here, we were told a table was not available and no one could tell us how long the wait. And one server asked if he could seat us and we explained we were on the list for party of 10. He replied, "Oh I am sorry." And walked away. He seemed like it was a problem that we had a big party and did not want to deal with it. In my opinion as a local business owner, you need to take reservations for your busier nights. Especially for parties of 8 or more. Just a suggestion!

The food was great, the service was excellent, and the time from when we order until the food arrived was good as well.

Intimate surroundings, great for small groups of friends or date night. Good sized portions for all sushi rolls. Tempura is very crisp with fresh vegies and the Terriaki beef is well seasoned. I've been back many times.

This is a nicely decorated, quaint restaurant, with a delicious menu. The lunch beef bugogi was well portioned and fairly priced. We also enjoyed their sushi :) We will definitely be back!

The BEST sushi place in East Montgomery! I seem to always get the #4 sushi combo... Love it. Environment is outstanding albeit small place, but my wife and I go here frequently. Very reasonably priced and fully staffed; we never feel like we're waiting on anything.

Inside is very nice and the music is very lovely. Little disappointed in chirashi bowl but their tempura ice cream was very good.

Really good spicy mayo had more of a sweet flavor. The playboy roll was like a double fantasy but wrapped in seaweed. Sushi was very fresh! Philly roll was in point as well

This place is sooooooooooooooo small. The sushi is good but the environment sucks. If you're looking to have a private conversation, please go somewhere else. You're literally bumping elbows with the other customers.

Our go-to sushi place here in Montgomery. Have tried all of them around here and this is the best so far. For a crazy saucy flavorful roll, the Texas is a yummy guilty pleasure and is crazy loaded up. The seared tuna roll is also good. The times we've gotten some kid of cooked food (dumplings, scallops on a roll), it can be hit or miss as to whether or not it's overcooked (usually is but we typically only get raw rolls/sashimi). Nice, fresh fish. The seafood salad is also very good, huge proportion of dark greens with various cuts of raw fish (tuna, salmon, etc) tossed in a spicy dressing.

Stopped by here to grab a couple of sushi rolls to go (the place is small, so it was the best option at the time to avoid a wait). It was good as expected, since the owner used to work at Miyako, which turns out good sushi as well. I'd pop in more often if I didn't spend the majority of my time on the other side of town.

Yay! Finally a decent sushi place on near the West end of town! For Montgomery standards, this place has excellent sushi and creative rolls. As Bill B had mentioned, since the owner use to work at Miyako, Sushi Cafe has similar special sushi rolls. The restaurant is a bit small, they don't have big tables, so keep your party to a minimum and try to make reservations if you can't get there early. We also noticed that there were non-stop take out orders.

Very good nigiri and decent prices. Some of the freshest tasting sushi I have ever had.

By far the best sushi bar in town.

Excellent sushi. Daniel Lee formally the head sushi chef at Miyako owns it and serves up the best stuff. Well decorated and intimate. Attentive staff. Will be one of your regular weekly dine out spots. Sometimes you've just got to have some sushi and that's all you want. Midtown Montgomery needed this so badly. Keep up the good work Sushi Cafe!

Very good Japanese restaurant . I put only 4 stars because the service is a little bit slow. The food is excellent I highly recommend it.

Fresh sushi, friendly service, great atmosphere. The unagi is gorgeous and melts on the tongue. The spider roll has a perfect salty crunch in its center, and the spicy tuna - so fresh and delicous. The Daniel's Roll is a work of art on the plate.
