I'm 300 miles into a 600 mile trip, it's 10 minutes to close, and they let us in and served my girlfriend and I in record time. We were in and out in 20 minutes. All the staff was extremely friendly (despite our coming in 10 minutes to close), they didn't rush us, and the food was great. Will dine here again if I'm ever in the area! Also, our server was Edwin. Thanks!

Hidden gem. Very fast and friendly service, a bit off the interstate if passing through but well worth the extra few minutes drive. Great value, actually underpriced for the amount of food one receives, but certainly not a complaint on this end. Fabulous experience several times over.

Service was slow and I never got my beer, but I paid for it because it would have been painful to work it out with the server. Food is average and I feel kinda sick now. Understaffed.

My favorite place to eat in Montgomery, fast and friendly service, not overly salted or covered in cheese like most places in the area. Authentic, flavorful and fresh, as Mexican should be. Very cheap for lunch, and bogo combos on wednesday nights are great.

After reading reviews for this place my wife and I were a little nervous in trying it but glad we did. We're both Hispanic Texas girls I'm from San Antonio and she's from El Paso so "WE" definitely know good Mexican food!!! First off I have to say that being away from home for over a year, walking into this restaurant and the having the waiter hold a conversation in Spanish with us took me back home. After being seated we were immediately brought chips and salsa and to my surprise the salsa was actually delicious. I had a sweet tea and my gosh it was so good another thing Mexican places are known for back home. Getting down to food I had cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice and beans were really good and the enchiladas were decent. They weren't the best I've had but were okay. My wife had the beef tacos and a flauta, they were both alright as well. The only real disappointment was that the tortillas were store bought and from a package which can be expected but still a disappointment. They weren't as authentic or homemade as we were hoping for. Overall it was a really pleasant experience and we would go back.

Aw man, not as good this time around :/. Different waiter, service was not that good. I ordered Bean Nachos...and the flavor was not for me. Beans tasted bland and cheese was not great. :/ I guess don't get the bean nachos and hope to get Tomas as the waiter, apparently he doesn't work on Sundays.

Met the family here for dinner the other night. As everyone has stated, the customer service folks are great! Chips and Salsa came out quickly. The ambiance of the place is not different from any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. The family liked the fountain in the middle of the store and it reminded them of a restaurant back in SC, so plus one for that. The thing I like about the restaurant (and the most important part) is the food! Definitely not bland and not over salted. Seasoned very well. I ordered the Pollo Fundido and was very happy with my order. The wife and children were very happy with their selections as well and my 5 yo tends to be picky about food. All that said, we'll be returning to Jalepenos in the near future!

Good service, but "okay" food. Sloppy mexican that was mostly cooked the day before. Decent margaritas. Won't be going back.

Good and beefy. I enjoyed my Taco Burrito Enchilada combo but it needed salt (no salt shaker on our table). The others in my group were less than impressed. Salt may not have helped. This restaurant is going on the slow rotation... we'll visit in another thirteen years. We did get the BOGO Wednesday combo special. Good service too. Lots of toddlers (I guess they like Mexican food).

Perfectly acceptable. My tamale, though a little small, was nice and spicy. The enchilada it came with was not quite as good and rated as about average. Their tortilla chips were thin, hot, and crispy and came with a slightly peppery salsa that was on the "chunky" side. Good service, but nothing outstanding. All in all, it's good for a quick, cheap lunch but not for much more than that.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
