I liked this place. we came here for some appetizers and drinks. There was plenty of seating for us to sit out on the patio and have some rinks. i have to say that their buffalo wings were good. nice. crispy texture, but not dry at all. The blue cheese was okay but the wings were fine on their own. The waitress was nice and checked on us regularly. Overall, we had a great afternoon relaxing while visiting Montgomery.

They can't cook a steak medium the first time around but the manager always makes it right. The service is good but the employees are great!

I had a friend tell me that she had the best dessert of her life here. So of course I went to check out the meat and totally ignored the dessert recommendation. I ordered the biggest piece of prime rib on the menu and didn't much care for it. It was fatty, tough to cut and chew, and had very little taste. The Caesar salad I got before my meal was good and so was the loaded baked potato. My friends ordered other cuts of steak and I wish I had joined them because they all looked good. I liked the atmosphere and the wait-staff took care of our 16-member dinner party without any fuss or problems.

8/15/15 Unfortunately what was a great evening ended badly with food poisoning. We went to the restaurant to celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday. The service was great and we thought we all had great meals. My wife was awoke later that night sweating, clammy and extremely painful stomach aches. An obvious case of bad food poisoning. Everyone else was fine, but none of us had the pork dish my wife did. I very much doubt anyone in my family will ever be here again. We will also be calling restaurant when they open.

3.5 stars. The first time I came here we missed the happy hour of course but the drinks were still strong and well-made; and the ambience is classy, clean, and modern. Definitely come for happy hour, something like 4:30 to 6:30 Monday through Friday. You won't regret it. They have $5 cocktails, wines, martinis, etc. They also have $7 fish tacos!! Those were awesome. We tried the sliders as well and they were good but not as good as the tacos. Being greedy mofos, we also ordered a chicken pasta entree to share. I have to admit I was not as impressed with the pasta. It was a generous portion but not very tasty. I'd stick with the happy hour appetizers or maybe try the steak next time.

This review is a little late but should be shared. Our FM wanted to take us out for a last lunch as a team so we chose this place. I called ahead to let them know we had a group of nine. When we arrived they placed us into a separate, nicely-large private room. This turned out great, giving us a chance to discuss work matters amongst ourselves. The waitress was great and the manager come in to check on us at least once. All this without a request for such accommodations. Great job management and staff. I hope to be assigned another project in Montgomery Alabama!!

This was a solid lunch pick for our party of ten. We were seated at a long table (a half-booth, half-chair hybrid) in the main dining room. Their diverse menu of seafood, steak and American cuisine offered something for everyone. On this visit I had a drink, an appetizer and an entrée. Lemonade For me, beverages are typically just an afterthought when I'm dining out. But Firebird's fresh squeezed lemonade was in a class of its own. It was sweetly tart with bright lemon flavor dancing across my tongue with every sip. Making a good thing even better, the restaurant donates $1 from every glass to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to help fund childhood cancer research. Lobster Spinach Queso This spicy, pepper jack cheese-spinach-tomato-lobster dip served with tri-color tortilla chips was fantastic! Creamy. Crunchy. Meaty. I practically inhaled this appetizer. Cilantro-Grilled Chicken Breast The two breasts of chicken were dry there was not one sprig of cilantro to be seen. A cheesy sauce was spooned on one side of the plate to up the moisture/flavor content. But it was the same sauce used in my appetizer and side dish (Southwest Au Gratin Potatoes) by then it was overkill. Overall, everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. We really appreciated having two servers, one to take care of each side of our table. They brought our food out in a timely manner so that we were in and out in under 1.5 hours.

Had the French dip and a salad. Food was good and the service was fantastic. Sit so you can look at the bar. You will understand when you see it.

Update: I had a bad experience at Firebirds a few months ago. I wrote a review about it and a customer service person contacted me. After assuring me it was really just a fluke situation, I was strongly encouraged to try the restaurant again. Needless to say I was a tad hesitant at first, but from the time we entered the restaurant to the time we closed out our check, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate every request. Our server Jasmine was amazing - quick, friendly, and one of the best waitresses we have ever encountered. I can't say enough good things about this delightful young lady. Back to food ...Most importantly - this time the food was hot and prompt. I recommend trying the Delmonico steak with potatoes au gratin or a smokehouse burger with cider slaw. Tasty, well seasoned, refreshing, and absolutely perfect to the very last bite. I'm extremely glad management contacted me and worked to rectify my previous experience. I would hate to have missed this gem just from a bad experience. Ps. Just because I want to be as frank as possible, we did run into a small situation with using the gift cards on our entire bill but the head manager on duty came over right away to explain + to fix the situation. I appreciate everyone's willingness to make our experience a redeeming and memorable one. I definitely will go back and try some of their other grilled options :)

Extremely poor service ruined the experience. I waited eight minutes to be greeted by a server, and that was after being seated by a hostess with a slight attitude about having to stop her conversation to seat me. I sat on the patio and fortunately was able to enjoy some football while waiting. After being greeted and placing my entire order, the water did not come back with my drink, which was only water, for five more minutes. The appetizer I had was lobster queso, which was fantastic and came out quickly by another server. I was never given any silverware or napkins by my server. I had to stop the waiter to ask for some. Before he returned my meal arrived, delivered from the same person who brought the appetizer. He asked me if I needed some silverware, and I mentioned the other guy was supposed to be bringing them. He quickly just grabbed some off an empty table and gave it to me. The pecan crusted trout with peach sauce was excellent, however I would have liked to have more of the peach salsa. The side of coleslaw had tortilla chips pieces mixed in, which tasted good, but I would have rather had slaw only, especially considering the fact that I had a plateful of chips already. My waiter never came back to check on me or provide me a refill on my water until the end of my meal. He said he would bring a refill, but never did. After reading some reviews I wanted to try some cheesecake as it was mentioned it was very good. However, I was never brought a dessert menu. I had to look up the website online for their dessert menu and flag the waiter down to order it to go. I made sure to hold the waiter when he handed the check over so I could verify the accuracy and hand the card immediately back. Unfortunately I noticed two other tables with issues on the check and a long wait. Mine was correct but still took a couple minutes to return. I typically leave an 18 to 20 percent tip for decent service and a 10 percent for subpar. This waiter got 0. I would recommend he be fired because it was clearly a motivation problem. Disappointing to see from a very nice restaurant otherwise.

First let me say that the quality and taste of the food was magnificent. The 2-star rating is for the service, which was really lacking due to poor restaurant management. We ordered the ribs from the kid's menu which were some of the best I ever had. My chicken quesadilla was excellent too, as well as my wife's coconut shrimp. We were really pleased with the taste and temperature of the food. My wife's margarita was really enjoyable for her, but the beers that I ordered did not seem as cold as I've tasted at most other restaurants. I was offered a frosty glass (without my asking), but when the beer came there was no glass. Then I had to ask for it twice before it was brought to me. The people delivering the drinks seemed to be coming from the bar area mostly and were not the same as our waitress. We chose to eat outside because it was a nice night in Montgomery, AL. Someone took our drink order fairly quickly, but it was away too long before anyone came to take our food order. The problem was that they had one waitress waiting 6 to 8 tables outside, one of which was an obnoxious large party that seemed to have been wearing her out for well over an hour before we even got there. She was a good waitress and served us well, so she got a good tip. I saw the manager in charge come outside at one point and ask a couple of tables if they had what they needed. He never asked us, though. If he had, I would have told him that he needed more than one waitress outside managing all those tables...or, help her out himself until the rush dies down. So I've experienced way better than this from a service standpoint, but the food was still good despite the slow service. If you are more patient than me, I would still highly recommend this location.

We have been here twice now. The first was for a late lunch at approx 1400. There were 4 other couples that we noticed so not very busy. We tried some of the local beer, and ordered a burger to share. Warm bread comes with the meal, so no need for an appetizer. The burger was probably the best we have had from a restaurant in a long time. It was the Smokehouse Burger, but the toppings were really in material. The burger was juicy, cooked just right (medium) and the flavour was outstanding. Keith was our waiter. He spent a great deal of time talking about the local area, and as we said we were house hunting, he suggested areas to look for potential houses. The second time was on a Friday at around 1800, so the place was quite full, but no line up yet. We ordered the cilantro grilled chicken and 12oz prime rib. When the food came they brought me a rib eye, instead of the prime rib. They took it back, apologized, and Roby, our waiter, said he had punched it in wrong. In maybe 5 mins a piece of prime rib that must had been 1.5lbs arrived. It was cooked more than medium as I asked for, but was very tender and had a great flavor. Not perfect by any means, but they make up for their mistakes. A better red wine selection would be a big improvement in our opinion.

Great customer service. We were greeted more than once and provided with menus while we waited for the remainder of our party. Great atmosphere! Recommend it for date dinner or meeting up with coworkers after work. I went for happy hour and had the Mahi tacos, which were flavorful and satisfying! My coworkers loved the queso dip and chips. Drinks are delicious too! Great options on their menu from fish to steak and everything in between!

Fire Birds Wood Fired Grill has extreme management issues this last visit I mentioned in my earlier review was the 3rd visit to this establishment. Back in December, my wife and I visited during Christmas shopping for a cocktail to find the manager scolding the 2 female bartenders right in front of us. We paid our tab and left. Great location it's a shame it's so mismanaged!

I visited the first time this past Saturday, and honestly, I wasn't impressed by the food. My friend and I both ordered a steak from the grill. My food was like warm, which reminded me of the way Olive Garden served its food. Anyway, I have absolutely no desire to eat here again. The service was great!!!

My mom and I came in, because she had been here previously. We enjoyed amazing port mushrooms for an appetizer, and for our entrées I had the Firebird Chicken Pasta, and she had the coconut shrimp. The service and food was wonderful, and the atmosphere was great. (I did feel quite underdressed, shorts and a tee don't fit in next to a table of young men in a suit, but this was in no way something the restaurant could better.) Sadly, the dessert left a not-so-amazing taste in our mouths. I ordered a crème brûlée, and my mother ordered a limited time Lemon Custard cake with blueberries. Let's start with the crème brûlée. I was expecting the classic- small circular dish, containing a custard, with sugar burnt with a blowtorch and maybe some seasonal fruit topping it all off. I was given a slice of cheesecake with some burnt sugar on the top. The brûlée topping tasted awful with the cheesecake so I ate it alone. I went to attack my cheesecake, and it tasted like a teenager's first attempt at a cheesecake. Firebird, no need to reinvent the wheel. I asked my mother how her lemon cake thing was, and she made a face and offered me some. Although she like the custard part, I found it almost like a medicine. She disliked the half frozen-cooked-soggy-blueberry-bread-like-contraption. I would highly suggest the restaurant, just beware of the desserts. Lastly, price. We ordered one entrée, one appetizer, one side, and two desserts. This (including tip) came out to $60. Just come knowing it is pricy.

Love this place, I have one down the street from me in CLT. I usually eat at the bar, sometimes crowded but the bartenders are great. Ask for Spencer at the bar...he's a smart guy and likes to discuss engaging topics. Overall if you're in Montgomery this place is solid and so is the BoneFish close by.

My review summary: food was great, service not so much. We had a reservation for a party of eight, and the hostess girl had a very "cool," kind of I - can't - be - bothered attitude. Okay, so we got past that. When we were finally seated our waiter came over to take drink orders. He really seemed like a nice enough kid, however, he was pretty inept at being a waiter. Requests for bread, water, condiments, etc. had to be repeated over and over again. He would just forget about us and go on his merry way doing other things. Had the service been up to par I would have given this review five stars. This was my second visit to a Firebirds, the other being in another city, and the food was just as good. The service in that location (Birmingham, Alabama) was outstanding for that visit.

I had a birthday dinner here a few days ago, this was my first visit. The atmosphere is very nice..great for date nights. The food was wonderful and so was the service, I will definitely be returning.

Firebird's has a great atmosphere and delicious food selections. The happy hour specials on martinis are excellent! I love dining and enjoying drinks on the patio. This is a great location. The service is always on point.

Poor service. Waiter didn't bring any bread like the rest of the customers received prior to the meal. When the meal was brought to the table the person put the plates down and didn't even ask if we needed anything and walked off. Finally our waiter came by and we asked if we needed condiments. Near the end of the meal I asked the waiter if bread was part of he meal and he responded "If you ask for it." For a place that specializes in grilled steak the steak I had was very tough an did not taste very good. Not the greatest experience

Love the atmosphere and the bar. The mixed drinks are delicious and compliment the food wonderfully. One of my favorite places to come to fortify myself before a night of bedazzlement and fun. Glad this is here in Montgomery!

Get the prime rib it is so tasty ! Skip the bread ...it is not good. They really need to get better bread...really !!! Go for happy hour and get the pineapple martini...$ 5.00....pineapple has been marinated in vodka for 3 weeks.....not too sweet...very refreshing !!

Fun happy hour drinks, especially the mojitos! I got a slaw that is typically a side with an appetizer, but got a full serving of it. This was delicious and I would definitely have it again. Our server was terrific! She was very attentive and helpful. Overall, this was a great spot for happy hour drinks and appetizers. If you sign up for their e-newsletter you get a discount the first time you come in. This was a nice bonus.

First off I gave firebirds a 2 because I didn't get a chance to eat. That being said I went back with reservations and had a fabulous dinner. I was contacted about a previous review and gave my information and never heard anything so I went ahead and gave it one more try and was delighted mostly. Great meal , nice facilities and welcoming wait staff. The blonde headed rude hostess was still her normal self to guests but I just overlooked her. But if you want a great meal with wonderful apps and wine variety I would say give firebirds a try .

Ummmm I hate to pick up my phone to put down my happy hour Double Black Diamond martini, but I digress. About what I don't know because I am drinking after drinking for Christmas and forgetting my medication. But back to the review, I love this place. I am so glad there is an upscale but casual place to enjoy drinks, dinner and some kisses by the fire. Get the blue cheese filet or the salmon!

I'm not sure what else Montgomery has to offer but I would definitely suggest try this place out. I had the salmon and I was very impressed. Great food and service!

Was very disappointed in this place. I ordered the lobster chips and dip and also French dip. I have to say the lobster dip tasted pretty bland and I've had better French dips from Arby's. And $16 bucks was pretty steep. The place is very noisy as well. I won't be back.

I really love Firebirds. If you've never been to one before, it's definitely a must try. My go-to appetizer is the Seared Ahi Tuna. I have actually gotten this on many occasions as a main dish at lunch. Light & healthy meal that goes great with a glass of wine. Otherwise the Wood Grilled Salmon is always consistently good. So flavorful and filling. Plus the ambiance is fantastic. Hip and happening new hot spot in Montgomery!

  • Marc C.

Excellent food (I had the French dip) and fantastic service. There are so many servers running around, and they support each other so well, it is enough to touch the heart of an old old server. A mistake was made on my order and they went above and beyond to apologize and fix my order. I was surprised at the quality of Firebirds and recommend it highly. Oh yeah, the outside seating is the place to be.

This was a good place for a date night in the area. If I went there for that reason, it might have gotten another star. The service was very good, but the prices are a bit higher for other restaurants in the area. They hit all the marks, tasted good, cooked good, good portions, but there was nothing "wow".

Came here on a Monday on way home to Atlanta for lunch. Was looking for a better lunch not fast food. Saw the sign and I am partial to wood fire cooking. It happened to be "Wine down Monday" 1/2 price glasses if wine. I got a mixed salad and a Delmonico steak sandwich both good options. Could choice for area and chain

    (4)
  • Chris K.

I had the trout and just wasn't impressed. Seasoning was way off. The slaw it was on was very interesting, but it didn't make up for the fish. I wished I had picked somewhere else and wouldn't go back unless I was thinking drinks. I did notice some wine taps and that was different. The bar is really cool looking and probably draws a hip crowd on the weekends.

I got the cilantro chicken and it was good but not $17 good. I sat at the bar and the service was terrible. I've been sitting for about 20 minutes now with an empty glass and the bar tender could care less. She is more interested in closing down than closing my tab. It took her about 20 minutes earlier in the night to even offer a menu. It might be time for a new person behind the bar.

Typical chain steakhouse. Luke warm food. Not going back. I've worked at a steak house, you can do better than this over rated place. Bartender was very nice. Front staff was phony.

We have only eaten at the Firebirds in Arizona, so our expectations were high. The wait staff is nice and the food is alright, just not the same level of excellence we were expecting. Threre seems to be a real disconnect about what real casual fine dining is. That being said the food and service are some of the best for this area.

    (2)
  • Gina B.

Came with no expectations, but left pleasantly appeased. I took a risk with the prime rib, and though it was overcooked, it was flavorful, moist, and tasty. My friend ordered the fish (flounder or trout I think) but received salmon. I tried a bite and it was good, just as was the white fish when he finally received it. They gave us a free desert because of the mix-up, which was nice. We choose cheesecake, which was large and fine. We also had the spinach dip for an appetizer, which was ok, not the best. All-in-all, this is a safe choice for decent food in Montgomery, AL.

Amazing! Stopped here on our way back home and had a wonderful experience. I had the cilantro grilled chicken while others at the table had the French dip sandwich, steak and salmon. All cooked to perfection! Hope to stop by again!

  • Justin B.

Pretty middle of the road. I got the pepper crusted steak and baked potato. The steak was slightly over cooked, and the peppercorn crusting is just overwhelming. The potato was too salty. So, while everything is okay, the common theme here is everything was just a little overdone. Plus, for what it is, it's a little overpriced.

Went to firebirds back in December. Had a horrible experience. Manager got pissed, comped our meal and walked away. Talked with corporate about the experience. They sent 50 dollars in gift cards to get us to go back. Went back today and the food was good, service was good but again had a run in with the manager that said what we had wasn't actually gift cards. We only were able to spend about 36 bucks of the 50 bucks. Got fed up and left. Told the manager this was a make up for the last bad experience we had here and would never go back. This was the same manager that was there in December. Obviously the updated training he was to receive didn't happen. This restaurant location is cursed. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and close. Don't prolong the agony of unsuspecting customers.
