This is a funky place. The outside has this big, Alice in Wonderland looking mushroom thing. We sat on the patio as it was a gorgeous day. I did not see the inside, but the outside is very no-frills. Just a few tables with umbrellas to shade you from the hot Mobile sun. I had the jerk chicken caesar salad and it was delicious. There was plenty of chicken and it wasn't too spicy. The croutons were nothing special, but I ate around them anyway so it didn't really matter. The table next to us had pizza and it looked really good ... especially if you like bready crusts like me. Mmmm. The servers all seemed really nice and he gladly gave each of us our own checks. Next time I'm in Mobile, I'll be checking this place out for the pizza!

I've become a fan. Still a little more expensive than what I'm used to in Ohio, but I guess a lack of good pizza joints in Mobile allows them to charge them exorbitant price.

Let's just get this out of the way: the pizza here is average. Other MMs in other cities are much better for some reason. So why four stars? Well, four stars equals "Yay! I'm a fan," and I am a fan of this place. They overcome their pizza with great service, really good appetizers, and a top-quality beer selection. I hope that this doesn't get anyone in trouble, but they've even let my friends and me sneak in outside beers and whiskies to sample.

I really like this place. This is one that we save up for. Not that it's expensive but when we eat there, we freakn eat there. My daughter loves the Hummus, ask for extra pita, I always get a Greek and take half home for later. Pizzas are where we run into a problem. The wife believes that pizza should only come with dough, tomato sauce, cheese and toppings. I believe that anything goes. So we normally have to order two pizzas. Sure we could order a half and half, but that would leave me no leftover to go with my salad. Great beer selection and yes, my wife has caught me checking out the waitresses. I'm cool with that. It fills up quickly so if you get there and all the table are full, just wait. Go get a beer and chill out.

Great selection of beer. The service however was slow and not very good. My order took a while to get to the table and it was wrong. She put in the order again and it came back wrong again. She wasn't a very good waitress. For that reason I won't come back.

Great draft beer selection beyond the usual--Sweetwater IPA, Blue Moon, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, etc. The Mediterranean pizza with humus base, feta, green peppers, olives will bring me back again to this place next time I am in the area. It is definitely a "college" place since U of Southern Alabama is close by, but families were present.

I'm a pizza lover and we've seen these from Nashville, TN to FL but had never tried one. We finally stopped on a Sunday afternoon while traveling back from FL. There is surrounding motorhome sufficient parking, but it's hard to get to (at least via our GPS) Mobile just needs to trim their trees better! Too low and every time we come here we are raking the trees. :( That said- and being the only downfall- we finally got there right at opening time 12:00pm. We looked over the menu- ordered the cheesy bread for an appetizer. WOW! It's divine! The bread is so yummy- french bread with ooey gooey cheese melted and the best red sauce ever. I couldn't wait for the pizza. We got 2 large pizzas- 1 pepperoni & 1 half cheese, half hamburger. I LOVED IT!!!!!! The crust was just the right thickness (or thinness) and the sauce yummy, with lots of cheese falling off- and a great tasting basted crust. I'm sorry I waited so long to try it. I'll def be finding the ones in my area to eat here. I'm hooked. Worth the drive anywhere. The one thing I didn't like- the "mushroom decor" painted on the walls was a little "NOT" mushroomy, but a little perverted and grotesque feeling- didn't like that for myself or all of the kids- the mushrooms they painted on the walls didn't look like "traditional mushrooms" nor the ones used in advertising materials. I think you know what I mean. My husband thought the music was way too loud for a Sunday at noon. I agree.

As far as pizza in Mobile goes, this is my favorite spot. We've tried the dips, breads, salads, calzones and many different pizzas. I've always gotten really good service and the food is always fresh. Can't wait to go back.

I have always liked this location, but the bar staff had such bad attitudes, it ruined the whole experience for me. I'm sorry if asking for my food the way I ordered it is such an inconvenience, if God forbid it's wrong. Please get a new job and a better attitude. That would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent Hummus and salads! Everyone visits Mellow Mushroom for the pizza which is always great, but recently I had a chance to try the Hummus and Salads for a lunch appointment. Delicious! Next time you are looking for a change from the pizza I highly recommend both the hummus and chips as well as their super fresh salads!

My friend and I decided to stop in and have pizza! I love how we were able to do a half and half seeing as how I don't like olives and she didn't like mushrooms. We had the house special with a white sauce base of olive oil instead if tomato base. We al ordered the breadstick, not realizing there was a ton of olives when it reached our table. The waitress knew that I did not like olives but failed to mentioned it. I know it was probably my fault but still, a good waitress would have been more attentive. I picked out the olives as best as I could and it was pretty tasty. The pizza was flavorful and had a nice thin crust. The service was ok. When I arrived before my friend, the waitress kept rushing me to order. I do not like to be rushed. Throughout our conversation, she kept interrupting us to order. I understand she needs to make money but that was plain rude! I probably won't be back to this location. I have one closer to my house and better service.

We went there for dinner last night after checking into a hotel on our drive from Vero Beach to Dallas . We REALLY wanted pizza but not Dominoes or Pizza Hut. This place was GREAT! They have and endless selection of unique pizzas and a good selection of draft beers and wine. It has a hipster vibe, but there were lots of different types of people seated and coming and going with take out orders. We were seated outside immediately and our server was great. We WILL go there again the next time we're driving thru Mobile.

There are few places in town where you can go and everyone knows your name and if you're having a bad day. The Mellow is one of those places. The food is great and so is the service. I always recommend the place when people ask where they should go for lunch, dinner or just out with friends.

This chain is consistently good no matter which location I go to. I have been to one in Tuscaloosa and one in West Palm Beach. Both of them have excellent menus, something for everyone, and of course there original incredible pizza. I am generally a New York Pizza kind of guy but I still fall flat on my face every time it is there Parmesan crust with a hint of honey. If you are in any area with a mellow Mushroom I strongly recommend it.

I've been going here for a few months now. Sometimes I stop in for a beer or three and have a quick pie, and other times I'll get a carry out. The beer selection here is great for Mobile, which is a pretty stunted area for good beer. (No brewery? Please!) I've had about 5 different pies here and a few salads and everything is always good. The house special is one of my favorites. It's always over stuffed with toppings if you're into that. The red potato pizza is good (with or without the sour cream). It's got a really nice atmosphere, a cross between a college dive bar and corner greasy spoon - very homey. The clientele seem to always be in a good mood and the servers and bartenders are knowledgeable and personable. A Mobile gem by the local University.

I have been coming to the West Mobile Mellow Mushroom for over a year and can sat this place is a great pizza joint that is good for families or good for a college hangout. The food is very good. I've had numerous pizza's, a couple calzones, the wings, and a few of their sandwhices. Each item (save for the wing's) was cooked with very fresh ingredients and was served hot. The wings are good so don't misread my comment - they just didn't have anything that really made me feel they were different from your average run-of-the-mill chicken wings. My favorite dish is the portabello and cheese sandwhich on French bread. Amazing combination of ingredients that make a really good taste that lasts on the pallet for some time. The staff is very professional and always seems to be in a good mood. They are sometimes short staffed but do put an true effort to check on each customer/table frequently. The beer selection is good but doesn't have any gems to distinguish them from most bars in Mobile. They have 16 taps and the most unique beer amongst then is their house brew Bogart Pale Ale. It is definitely worth a taste test if you enjoy beer. I would agree with an earlier review that a beer list would be beneficial but completely disagree with their lack of knowledge on their beer selection. I have yet to meet a server who didn't know what was on tap or in bottle. The building is smaller and does get packed at peak times so keep that in mind. The outdoor patio is large and has a good amount of seating but gets drowned out by the traffic on the main road that runs by the restraunt. All in all I would and have recommended this restraunt to people and would tell anyone who was unimpressed to give it a second try.

I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere here. It's right near a major university, so it can get rowdy at night. However, their pizzas are great. I love the crust-- it's so thick, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Crust can make or break a pizza, but Mellow Mushroom's crust is pizza nirvana. I'd just rather get mine to go than stick around for the questionable service.

Great pizza! Everything I've tried on their menu has been great! The service is good, for pizza it's decent time. The servers are great. They aren't overbearing or hang around your table. They have a great beer selection! And their staff is pretty knowledgeable about their selection, too! Great atmosphere for all ages. Good location, tight parking though! And the student discounts are great!

I used to really like this place, but today I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life there. After waiting forever for the server to take my order, they basically got everything wrong from there.... My tortilla soup arrived without the avocado. I asked why and the server said they were out. Ok, would have ordered something else if I had known cuz I love avocado and really ordered the soup for the avocado and cheese topping. Next my Jerk chicken sandwich finally arrived but half of the ingredients were missing. No tomatoes, no spinach, no pesto mayo. So I had to go to the counter to send it back because the server was again MIA. They said they would redo it for me. So I sat down and waited for a long time. Finally they brought my sandwich but this time it was on the wrong bread, missing the mushrooms and had SOOO much spices on it that it was inedible. At this point, I felt like, ok.. I can't get a sandwich here at all today. I might as well just pay for my soup and leave. So that is what I did. I was SO sad because I just had the same sandwich there a few weeks ago and it was delicious. I actually cried when I left the restaurant. I was still hungry and felt sad because I really did like this place. I have been there many times and it was usually pretty good. I guess it is going downhill. The people there are not as friendly as they used to be either.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
