Stayed in Mobile on Friday night and picked this place to eat based on yelp. NOT disappointed. Kind of a hole in the wall dive but the portabello gyro was *awesome. If I lived there I'd probably be at this place at least a couple times a week.

I was really happy with my meal here. Most of the gyro meat I've had taste like dog food flattened into slices, so I'm wary of all gyros. I really liked these though. The meat is nicely spiced and tastes (and feels and LOOKS) like real meat. I got the Mixed Grill and found the cheese plus aioli to be a little much for me, but the whole thing was still the best gyro I've ever had. Their spinach tomato orzo looks so plain but tastes amazing. I have to figure out how to make it at home because I live too far away to go here. I really regret not getting their tzatziki because it smelled heavenly. Even though the place was packed when I went for lunch, they have a really well-oiled team that got everyone's food out quickly. Plus their iced tea pictures were hilarious. I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in Mobile.

Was just passing through and saw the great reviews on Yelp. The location is historic downtown Mobile. You order at the counter then they bring you the food. Service was fast and friendly. Casual atmosphere. Got 2 different flat bread sandwiches and both were their own unique combination of flavorful melty-meaty-warm deliciousness. Would absolutely go back again

  • Karla S.

I was amazed at the smile on the girls face at the register!she brightens my day as I ordered to go she said ,"I'll bring it out to you" I sat outside for a minute went inside and it was ready ! now that's a Greek salad for sure ! Bon appetite!

  • David S.

I visited this restaurant because of the yelp reviews. The meal was decent, but did not seem to be anything special to me. It was kind of dry Jamaican lamb kebab. About an hour later, my stomach was not too happy. I don't think that was a coincidence. Better safe than sorry. I don't think I'll return.

  • Suely C.

I needed a MSC gyro to erase the disgusting shrimp order from Bob's Downtown. You can always count on the quality and flavor of their food. The tomato spinach orzo is rich so the $0.99 add-on is just perfect. My favorites are the Gyro and the Samurai Chicken as panini, not as a wrap. I don't eat in the restaurant because it can be smoky inside. I did not like returning to the office smelling like I've worked the grill at lunch.

    (4)
  • David L.

Passing through Mobile, we were looking for something quick and light, and MSC was one of the few places that fit the bill. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered: Mixed Grill, Portabella, and the Gyro. In addition to wraps, they have salads, soup, dips, and desserts. Their downtown space is small and divey, and the music reminded me of Guitar Hero. Parking could be tricky, but we managed it just fine.

    (4)
  • Morgan L.

I got the chicken shawarma sandwich and it had the best flavor. A good place to eat if you are ever in downtown Mobile. The restaurant is old but the service was fast, helpful, and kind. It was authentic tasting and a perfect spot for lunch!

    (5)
  • Tara O.

Phenomenal. First time in Mobile, wasn't sure where to get lunch while my boss was at his conference. I'm not usually a big fan of Greek food, but this place had high recommendations and was within walking distance. Very friendly service, and food is amazing! Would definitely go here again. I got the Mixed Grill and a little house salad.

    (5)
  • Adam R.

By far the best food in mobile. You can really taste the fresh ingredients and love that goes into the food. The staff is great they always have a huge smile on there faces and will never let you down. The redneck gyro is my favorite. Also, try the orzo it is to die for! If I could give it 10 stars I would.

    (5)
  • Melanie F.

Passing through Mobile and stopped in. A small funky spot. The redneck gyro was yummy and the food was fast and hot! Sit outside and enjoy people watching. A fun restaurant to try!

    (4)
  • Ali N.

Delicious food and fast service! Recommend the chicken shawarma, great flavor! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a fun atmosphere.

    (5)
  • Charlene G.

Oh My God! This place is amazing! Today was our 1st time to visit - but won't be our last. The hummus & pita bread appetizer - a MUST! I had the AWARD WINNING "Mixed Grill". I didn't let a drop of that goodness go to waste! SO YUMMY! My husband had the "Redneck Gyro". His was awesome... But he admitted he liked mine better. If you're in the Downtown area, don't pass this place up!! (There's also one in west Mobile / off of Schillinger Rd)

    (5)
  • Kellie M.

This place well deserves their "people love us on Yelp" sticker. Ok, this time I remember what I ate. I had the "Red Rooster" flat bread. It has chicken, conecuh sausage, peppers, onions and of course hot rooster sauce (whatever that is). I was sold on their sandwich for the simple reason of conecuh on it. Adding a side only cost 99 cent extras. Next time your in Daupin St., don't pass this place up

    (4)
  • Maggie K.

As a gyro connoisseur, I have to say the search is over! This is truly the best gyro that I have ever encountered! It is huge, meat is so moist, pita is fluffy and large, and the sauce is perfection! Go here- just trust me. The red rooster and Spartan are also excellent. The orzo is super yummy. Just wish they had french fries. Ambience is lacking but that's fine.

    (5)
  • Rafael E.

Amazing flavors and food combinations , great price for the quality of the food . Very small place but I will coming back for sure . Highly recommend

    (5)
  • Belkis A.

Yelp you're so helpful. This place was amazing. The food was prepared in a clean environment, on the spot. The gyros were tasty, veggies fresh, pita soft and warm. Delicious! Too bad we're not from the area, but would definitely recommend for a quick stop.

    (5)
  • Jason W.

Boom! Incredible flavor and freshness. This is the kind of food that creates addictions. Try the entire menu!

    (5)
  • Kyle S.

The Mixed Grill sandwich is out of this world! The atmosphere is friendly and laid back which goes along perfectly with a great location. I would absolutely recommend this place if delicious food is your thing.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

Spectacular place to stop when driving through the city on I-10. Lives up to all its awards. Huge side items for .99 cents are one of the best food values I've seen in sometime.

    (5)
  • Timothy P.

Place is a really great stop when passing through mobile. Portions are really perfect. Filled me up without feeling bloated. Flavors were rich without being over done. We had the mixed grill, red rooster, and redneck gyro. Our favorite was the mixed grill - chicken meat with gyro meat was pretty money.

    (5)
  • Charles W.

This was by far one of the best resteraunts I've eaten at in a while. I ordered one of their pitas, the Spartan Pita to be exact. It was exquisite. It came with lamb, onions, cheese, and some kind of special sauce. The price(s) are not that bad either considering the serving size. I will definitkelyt be going back there soon.

    (5)
  • Dan G.

This place is my favorite for a sandwich in downtown. The food is fantastic and the people who work there are awesome.

    (5)
  • Addison W.

Excellent in all the important ways. Grilled cheese , HUMMUS (!), veg wrap, moroccan chic wrap. Great service. Quick med done right!

    (5)
  • Claire M.

This place is awesome. The chicken gyro was super flavorful. I recommend stoping by if you want a quick, tasty meal.

    (5)
  • Kay P.

Solid 5 star place to grab a tasty, quick, filling, reasonably priced, flavorful mediterranean-inspired food. Their menu offers something for everybody; even if you are a Vegetarian (A good Veggie meal can be hard to find sometimes in the South). When you are having a fun night out in downtown Mobile and find yourself famished, I'd highly recommend you give Mediterranean Sandwich a try.

    (5)
  • Katrina D.

If you've never been here, you MUST stop in. I have a feeling you'll become a repeat customer. The prices are great! It's easy to get a filling meal for under $10. The food is outstanding! My boyfriend ordered the Mixed Grill which consists of roasted chicken, beef-lamb, sweet onion marmalade, Provolone cheese and Béarnaise aioli sauce. I tried it and made him split it with me. I wanted to go back to get another on Sunday, but unfortunately they were closed. I was very sad. My stomach was anticipating that deliciousness all morning. I ordered the soup: chicken, sausage, and rice. It wasn't as memorable as the mixed grill, but it was still very yummy. If I am ever in Mobile again, I will be coming here and eating this flatbread wrap!!

    (5)
  • Dave H.

Without a doubt the best sandwich shop in the area. I've eaten at the Mobile shop as well as the one in Daphne, and both are off the charts good. Personal favorite for me and my wife is the Chicken Funghi, with its colorful fresh spinach leaves, sauteed mushrooms, gorgonzola and mozzarella cheeses, and the best basil pesto mayo you'll ever taste. I have to say that the basil pesto mayo is as addictive as crack cocaine, so proceed at your own risk! :) I've also had the Mixed Grill and it was delicious. We really like this place; the food is fresh, authentic, and tastes out of this world. Service is fast & friendly, and the prices are more than fair. It is our go-to place when we want a unique sandwich at a great price. Highly recommended!

    (5)
  • Raymond B.

Awesome will be back. The review were so right. We asked what they recommend they are friendly we ate. We loved it do much we put a to go order in right after

    (5)
  • Jason R.

great, flavorful, spicy food. Nice to see that they had while wheat wraps. Side salad was pretty plain and not very fresh - but I came for the wrap, not the sides. Outdoor seating is a plus.

    (5)
  • Randy L.

We originally wanted to go to another restaurant, but it was closed so we walked here. We came here on September 25 at night. There aren't too many restaurants in downtown, it's a pretty deserted place from what we saw. We had one of the specialty gyros and the redneck gyro. Pros - the prices are pretty standard, around $15 for 2 gyros, and especially cheap for a downtown restaurant; food is above average Cons - there's no restroom (but then again, you can always just take it to go eat somewhere else) Overall, this isn't a place I'd go out of my way to eat at, but if you're around the area and looking for a cheap eat, this is a good option!

    (4)
  • Judy M.

I have had the Salads and a couple of different Sandwiches, all were excellent.

    (5)
  • D'ette A.

Took my daughter for something different. She had never had Taziki sauce. So I ordered the pita and taziki sauce. She really liked it and so did I. The pita bread was warm and soft. I had the beef and lamb gyro and a side. She had the chicken gyro with cabbage soup. Her boyfriend had the beef and lamb pizza. The girls portion s were bigger than the only male. This was my daughters first experience with Mediterranean food and she liked it! The staff was very helpful in giving suggestions to help with our decision.

    (4)
  • Alan S.

My wife had gone to the one on West Mobile and really liked it. It's downtown so parking could be an issue. It's very small but we sat outside on a very nice day. We got hummus and enjoyed it. My wife got a portobello gyro and said it was good but she did not care for the goat cheese. I got a chicken philly on flat bread. It was delicious. It came with a spicy chipotle mayo. I definitely want to go back.

    (5)
  • Stephen M.

Fun local atmosphere. I had the gyro along with tzatziki dip, which comes with pita bread. Everything was delicious and decently priced. Will definitely be coming back and trying other menu items.

    (4)
  • Sara S.

I had the chicken funghi and spinach tomato orzo, and it was amazing! The redneck gyro is delicious, too!

    (5)
  • Joe B.

Food was okay. Restaurant was the dirtiest eating/dining area I've seen in a non 3rd world country. Scary. I was famished, so I stayed and ate. But it was scary.

    (1)
  • Remy O.

Small shop with the best gyros in town. Every time I am in the downtown area I swing buy and either have dinner or bring it home for a late snack. Red Rooster is good alternative if you dont like the traditional gyro.

    (4)
  • Tyko N.

Food was excellent. Italian job and chicken funghi are amazing. If you love pesto good spot to try out.

    (5)
  • Karen W.

Excellent sandwiches but make sure you ask them to either go light on the onions or put them on the side as they sometimes add too much for my taste. Aside from that small complaint, the food is great.

    (5)
  • Sandi F.

Indeed, there is nothing wrong with cheap and delicious! I haven't had a gyro this excellent since my trip to Greece three years ago. The mixed grill and hummus..... Order it and you'll be in heaven too! Very fast service, walk-up counter, nice seating area if you can stay and enjoy. Homemade pita was delicious.

    (5)
  • R.J. R.

Pleasantly surprised, this unassuming place has great food. The pita is really good, the meat is really good, tasty stuff!

    (5)
  • Samantha D.

This food was amazing and the staff was awesome. I will defiantly come back and eat again!

    (5)
  • Sami L.

Red neck gyro, just awesome; Gouda, sausage, fresh greenery redneck zaziki, well toasted pita and gyro meat. Get one :) Ps. Note the "ice-t" labels,,,,

    (4)
  • Ahmed A.

This was the surprise of Mobile! The wrap I ordered was exceptionally delicious! It's even much better than the one I used to have back home

    (5)
  • Nicole E.

I have been here twice and I love the red rooster flatbread sandwich. Its very spicy so its a good idea to get the sauce on the side and add it a lilttle at a time. The restaurant has sidewall seating and can be nice when the weather is nice. Its a cute lil spot to eat real quick and you can order food to go too.

    (4)
  • Jen F.

Seriously awesome!! The staff was very friendly and helpful, everything was fresh and tasted amazing (crazy delicious), and it was a very good price! I can't wait to go back to Mobile (my hometown) so I can visit there again! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Mediterranean Sandwich Co :)

    (5)
  • Trey E.

Wonderful hole in the proverbial wall in a scenic part of Mobile. The menu features several unique takes on gyro and schwarma. Everything came across as diligently and freshly prepared. I gave the 'Redneck Gyro' a try with hummus (house made) and bacon orzo and not a bit of it went to waste. I will absolutely be making a return trip the next time I'm in the area - this place is a gem and inexpensive to boot.

    (4)
  • J L.

Excellent food. Not very kid friendly, but they have pita pizzas and a chicken grilled cheese. Not the most polite/engaged customer service. Not a ton of room for sitting and eating. Excellent food and a must do.

    (5)
  • Denis N.

Great tasting food! "The Mixed Grill" sandwich is the best!! Very continent location. And open till 3am. Definitely give it a try!! Only con is it's a little pricey. But the food is great.

    (4)
  • Matt A.

Great food! Love it! As a vegan, I eat the falafel (even though it has cucumber sauce) and coleslaw. A tasty treat. Next time I will try the portobello veg gyro. I only wish I didn't have to pay $0.50 for a cup so I can have water. But that is a small thing.

    (4)
  • Matthew L.

Cool little place in the heart of historic downtown Mobile. One of the freshest and tastiest gyros I've had. Got the combo with Mediterranean slaw and drink for $10 and change. Soup and pasta all looked great as did the paninis.

    (5)
  • Mariann T.

Amazing!!! This place was SO good! We used Yelp to search for local places to eat as we were passing through Mobile to Biloxi and stopped here. The location is great, right downtown Mobile and the seating outside was so nice, perfect day! I had The Italian Job which was a panini-style flatbread. It was delicious! Very flavorful and everything on the menu is under $7. This place is a must!

    (5)
  • Paul M.

Absolutely loved this place. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back. Hummus was great and the redneck gyro was great. The lamb was amazing as well as the pita itself and the sauce but adding conecuh sausage to it.....???? Amazing! Everything else on their menu sounded great too and I may need to go back for the spicy challenge. The Chernobyl I think it was called :/

    (5)
  • Anthony T.

I was tired of conference food and wanted something different or a sandwich for lunch so I used Yelp to locate something for me and this stop showed up and it was really worth it. I had the special if the day (Redneck ????) and was REALLY REALLY good and the service was good as well. It didn't take long for the food to come out either.

    (5)
  • Tofy M.

A gyro..with melted cheese! The Mixed-Up Grill sandwich was delicious with both chicken and beef/lamb. The onion marmalade was the perfect sweet touch. So yummy!

    (5)
  • Jeff R.

Omg this food is amazing. Ok so I come I'm here and order the mixed grill panini. Can you say slap your momma good, and the carbonara, made me want to slap her twice. Granted I would never slap my momma but you get my drift. This place is a gem. I'm from Kentucky here for work and stayed an extra half day just so I could eat here one more time before I left.

    (5)
  • Josh S.

Another great place we found through Yelp. The reviews were spot on, everything tasted so fresh. The hummus was excellent. I had the Redneck Gyro and it was everything the reviews told me it would be. Awesome!

    (5)
  • Scott N.

I'm a Chicagoan down here for work. I found this place on yelp and what a find it was. The gyro meat is the real deal from Chicago and the owner knows where to get the good stuff. It's a quaintly-sized sandwich shop without pretense. And that's why it's great. Come in, get a hearty lunch at a super reasonable price, get back at it. I have been habitual in going and got to talk to the owner, another reason why it's great, he's super personable. Great, super efficient staff makes the friendly service feel authentic, another plus. I can't say enough. I'm obviously a fan. So, if you're a visitor go. Based on he people I saw, the locals love this joint. And always eat where locals eat. scott

    (5)
  • Lou T.

Just had lunch there based on all the Yelp reviews I read. 8 of us went for lunch. Excellent meal. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend if in Mobile (Downtown) well worth it.

    (5)
  • Chris T.

I crave their Tomato Basil Orzo Pasta- it goes fast and they sell out of it. It is just perfection. They add in pita slices that are delicious and buttery. Hummus is GREAT! Crazy cheap in my opinion. I wish they would keep this location open for the bars ( they are open til 2 a.m, ) , but branch into a larger downtown or Midtown option as the location is very small. They do have a slightly larger restaurant out on Schillinger Road in West Mobile; they told me that this locale will allow other options that they can't serve in the small downtown business. Many downtown offices order out for this. The Carbonara Orzo is great too, but my fav is the Tomato Basil.

    (5)
  • Desiree B.

This place is Amazing!! My husband and I will be trying everything on the menu. It's a very small place downtown mobile, but the food has the most explosive flavors in your mouth. I told my husband each bite was orgasmic, lol!! The jasmine rice is to die for! We ordered two sides of rice with our gyros and the cashier brought us the third to try for free! After eating we took 2 pieces of baklava Togo and decided this is the coolest little wrap shop we have ever been to. Oh and the music there ROCKED!!!

    (5)
  • Sobo W.

Our family of 4 all enjoyed what we got. It's small and if they were busy you might not be able to sit inside, but if the weather is nice they have outside seating and the scenery is bomb!! I would recommend this to friends traveling through

    (5)
  • David S.

We ordered 4 panini-style flat bread sandwiches: The spartan The italian The mixed grill The chicken funghi We shared them. All were awesome! I was a bit skeptical about the size but me, my wife, and two boys got full with some to spare.

    (5)
  • Mia S.

I've lived in Italy and Greece, and was very surprised to find such great gyros and tzatziki in Mobile. Pita is always tasty, and the hubby loves the redneck gyro. Only thing I could wish for to make it more like gyros in Greece would be fries.

    (5)
  • Travis T.

Great little sandwich shop in downtown mobile. The Redneck gyro was delicious and the bacon carbonara orzo pasta was an amazing side. All gyros and wraps under $7, total was $21 for two gyros, two sides, and two drinks.

  • Josh P.

Growing up in a really small town, I never had the chance to eat lots of ethnic foods. That changed in college and I realized that I really love Greek/Mediterranean food. Mediterranean Sandwich Company doesn't have the most authentic Greek food, but it's downright delicious. I always get the same thing, a gyro and bacon carbonara orzo pasta. The orzo is some of the best I've ever had. It's got a slight bit of a peppery kick that's just fantastic. The gyro is great too. It's always full of meat. This place doesn't skimp on any ingredients, and for less than ten bucks, it's a crazy filling meal. I can't recommend this place enough. It's quick, cheap, and simply scrumptious. My only problem with the restaurant is that the Daphne location is in an old ice cream shop, so it's really rather small. When it's busy, it's a little uncomfortable, but it's still worth it for the food.

    (5)
  • Steve R.

Nothing too original to say about how great this place is. We had the Redneck Gyro and the Mixed Grill plus the hummus and baklava for dessert. Loved it all plus enjoyed the outdoor seating with the dogs!

    (5)
  • Koji L.

Gyro tasted pretty good. Tried Orzo pasta as a side. Its a rice like shaped pasta with cilantro and cheese mixed in different. But alright.

    (4)
  • Lindsay T.

I work in Downtown Mobile, and this is a common lunch spot for me and my coworkers. The italian job sandiwch, asian chicken wrap, and greek salad with chicken are my favorites. However, anything I have ever ordered has been delicious. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Nice seating located outside on Dauphin Street. The inside dining space can get a little crowded at peak lunch hour, but it's definitely worth the wait. Call ahead to place your order if you're in a hurry. Overall, I highly reccomend Mediterranean Sandwich Company.

    (4)
  • Dean G.

I work downtown and eat here once a week or so. It's great, I've not had anything I didn't like. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is that it needs more seating!

    (4)
  • Constanza j.

We stopped off here on a road trip to Destin. Zipped in to get a quick bite. It was delicious and a great vibe. Really casual and small place but cool. Great lunch spot.

    (5)
  • Jeremy S.

In the realm of budget Gyro shops, this place is probably in my top 5 all time. This place has killer sandwiches, they use fresh ingredients, and the hummus is like no other. Get the hummus. Just get it. The best part about this place is that it's the cheapest restaurant in downtown Mobile, and, in my opinion, it's the BEST restaurant in downtown mobile (for the money). They're great for lunch, dinner, and/or fourth meal (open until 3 am). Do yourself a favor and eat here. Mobile doesn't have much more to offer when it comes to bang for your buck.

    (5)
  • Patrilie H.

This place is great for a late night meal, after hitting the bars. I ordered the mixed grill, one of their most popular sandwiches, and found the sweet onion marmalade overwhelming. Next time I would probably order it on the side with none of the Bearnaise sauce. The side order of orzo pasta was delicious though. The place is cheap and makes their food fresh to order. Would go there again!

    (3)
  • Philip L.

I LOVE this place! The food is delicious and consistent. The staff is patient and friendly. The ordering process can get pretty hectic when they're busy due to the layout of the restaurant. Please do yourself a favor and visit this place when you're in town!

    (4)
  • Mark B.

Price, flavor, portioning and speed. All the best things you could want from a lunch place. You must try the Orzo pasta; everything I've had there is delicious and my entire office is hooked on the place now. My only negative is that they close at 2:30, I wish they were open for dinner on my way home!

    (5)
  • Lucy B.

Cheap, tasty, imaginative. The Mixed Grill has won many awards for a reason - it's DELICIOUS. Everything else I've had here has been good: Red Rooster, the Italian Job, you really can't go wrong choosing a sandwich. That said, you may be tempted to pass up the orzo. DON'T. It's a must try in my opinion. Both are good, but the Bacon Carbonara is my favorite.

    (5)
  • Julia S.

The best lamb/beef gyro I have ever had! Super fresh with house made tezeiki. The tomato orzo is a really good side.

    (5)
  • Nanette S.

Mediterranean Sandwich Co is awesome. I have been to both locations, in Mobile and Daphne. The chicken swarma is my favorite with the delicious taziki sauce. There is a variety of flavors that will please any taste.

    (5)
  • Maite U.

We stopped here one a Saturday afternoon on a road trip from New Orleans to Florida. Totally delicious food, much better then anything you would get normally on a road trip, and best of all you get to see a little of Downtown Mobile, which is actually very pleasant. The sandwich's were interesting and served on a flatbread that was soft and fresh. The unique sauces they offer really make the sandwich something to swoon over. I had the chicken one and I have to say, the chicken was PERFECTLY cooked and succulent. Pretty gourmet.

    (5)
  • Charles S.

I have had hummus literally all over the US, worked in Greek restaurants, and I can tell you this was the BEST hummus, bar none, I have ever had. Sandwiches were good too. :) But the hummus is reason enough to come here.

    (4)
  • Monica N.

My sandwich was delicious and the slaw was a nice side. Loved the dill in the slaw. The salad had a bit too much dressing, so you might want it in the side. I gave it a 4 because the atmosphere is lacking a bit. Food was terrific and the people very friendly. I would eat here often if I lived here. Enjoy!

    (4)
  • Julie L.

Everything here is excellent, for 4 years it has the best food downtown. It is such a treat to dine here.

  • Juliana O.

Went here on a Saturday night around 7pm after hearing good buzz from the local merchants and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp. I was a little worried that the food might not live up to the hype. Never fear - I was NOT disappointed!! The tomato-spinach orzo is just as good as everyone says. It's a creamy, spinach-y party in your mouth. I got it as a side, and then went back to the counter and bought a whole tub of it to enjoy for dinner tomorrow. And! AND! They have the BEST vegetarian gyro I've ever tasted, hands down. Have you ever even SEEN a vegetarian gyro? Most places don't even bother with them. But this joint has a whole vegetarian section on their menu, and this sandwich was probably the most flavorful vegetarian sandwich I've ever had. They make it with hummus, goat cheese, and roasted veggies. As a lifelong vegetarian, I was just thrilled. Never expected to find such a great veggie sandwich - and in Mobile, Alabama of all places! And the whole thing cost me less than $10 including a beverage - about the same amount that I spent at Waffle House for lunch, but way superior in flavor. I can easily imagine that this place would be packed during prime time, but it was nice and quiet on Saturday early evening - got a table all to myself right in the window, no problem. If I lived in town, I'd be at this place every week.

Lunch in Mobile? Eat here! You won't be disappointed.

  • Jessica H.

This place has amazing food. When I go, I throw a dart at the menu just to try something different, and I have yet to find something I did not like. My only complaint is the customer service at this restaurant. The cooks/wait staff tend to have a very snooty and impatient attitude with their customers. Our most recent experience involved some confusion about our order. My friend from out of town ordered for everyone, and the cashier did not hand him a ticket. Because my friend is from out of town, he did not think to ask about his ticket. Also the place was not crowded, and the cashier expressed how grateful he was for our large tip we placed in the tip jar. We started waiting for our food, and my friend realized he did not have a ticket. I brought it to the attention of the cashier and cook, and their response was "oh well." We knew ours was order number 108 because our other friends had a separate order which was 109, and they were behind us. They called 108, and the cashier did not want to give us the food because we did not have the ticket. He acted as if he had never seen us and basically scolded us like children for not having a ticket. Customer service is all about personalizing the service. I am really tired of being treated like a misbehaving child at this restaurant. I feel like the we are having to find ways to please the staff. I am polite to everyone and always tip regardless of the staff's efficiency. I understand things go wrong and mistakes are made but mistakes are easily fixed with a pleasant attitude. The staff at Mediterranean Sandwich Co. needs to remember that really good food is not enough. You need to make the customer feel comfortable and welcome.

Mixed grill sandwich was amazing! Baklava was soggy and undercooked but I would return for the mixed grill sandwich.

We love Mediterranean food and haven't found any such restaurants in the Fairhope-Daphne area. So, based on all the rave reviews on Yelp, we went here for lunch yesterday. Wow--best gyro we've had in a long, long time. Also enjoyed the side of tomato-spinach orzo. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. We were delighted to learn they're opening a store in Daphne in about a month (former Marble Slab Creamery location)! We will be "frequent flyers" for sure!

I love the samurai chicken it's my favorite but the falafel , chicken swarma and the Gyro are good as well.

This is exactly what is great about patronizing 'local' establishments. I avoid chain and big-box companies like the Plague and at least ~try~ to utilize mom and pop places, but sometimes even they suck too, and they are more expensive because they aren't using labor from china. but i digress. Anyway, this is a great (albeit small) lunch place on Dauphin Street in downtown mobile. As simple, good and authentic as you get for greek-fusion. And the folks behind the counter actually appear to be greek... whodathunkit? They have the best hummus & pita I've ever had (see, you don't have to get all complicated and fancy to be GOOD), and have good gyros, other wraps and salads. The place is small, only a few tables and a bar along the wall, so it can get crowded quick, but you can get it to go or call ahead. The employees are always VERY nice. One time they made a mistake in my order and I walked back there for them to correct it; the guy behind the counter was very apologetic and threw in another side of my choice to make up for the small error. My only complaints would be is that their drink selection is kind of limited, but that's about it.

No gyro platter, no fries, NO FRIES!, seriously? Seriously, a sandwich place with no fries!? They wanted to give me RICE as a side, Rice! with a sandwich! Bye bye!

  • Karen L.

Vlad and his staff have given Mobile one of the Best Sandwich shops Ever! I have even eaten there 3 times in one day before! lol The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are out of this world! The Dauphin St location is open for the very late night crowd on weekends, and the Schillingers Rd location offers specials on a regular basis. Aptly named "Specials"! Wonderful authentic flavors, friendly fast service, great prices, two locations, what more can you ask for!!! Thank you Vlad

What a wonderful find-wow!!!! Excellent sandwiches, falafel and baklava! Wow what service! The owner took such good care of us and let us sample his various side dishes.. We really liked the vegetable rice!

Best gyro I've EVER had! They had some cabbage and beef soup that to die for also. Wish I lived in Mobile I would eat here all the time!

Delicious food and decent service. Kind of small and not really set up for people dining in. I just wish it would stay open later so I could grab a bite while out drinking.

This is one of the best Gyro's I have ever ate. They are open super late, probably to appeal to the bar crowds, but it is delicious anytime of the day. It is right in Downtown next door to Hayley's Bar and Atlantis Nightclub. They make a great sundried tomato orzo pasta that is really yummy. I ordered a gyro, with a side of the orzo, and a diet pop and it came to $10. The food here is great, and the price is super cheap! I recommend this!

Wonderful sandwich shop. I have never been disappointed. The falafel sandwich is delicious.

Excellent food and friendly service. Had the lamb gyro and some rice dish. I got there at 11am and only one table was occupied. I imagine it could get loud and crowded around noon. I don't get downtown often but when I do, I'm coming back here.

  • Courtney T.

Fantastic! My mom and I split the falafel sandwich and an order of hummus, which comes in a HUGE serving size and a ton of pita. Everything was delicious. If I am ever in Mobile again, I will be back.

This place is awesome! My husband had been coming here for lunch once a week and kept it a secret from me. He finally decided to take me there for lunch on a Saturday and it was great! The Hummos was excellent- different from other versions that I've had before. My husband had the mixed grill and I had a gyro. It was all super delicious. He's had other things on the menu and loved it all. The menu has both authentic dishes and also inventive sandwiches and dishes that they've created to satisfy everyone. They even made a cheese pita pizza for the kids (it's not on the menu). We just moved to this area and I am so glad I have found a great ethnic dining option. This is our new favorite place. Please open for dinner and open a location in Daphne!!!!

  • B G.

I love this place. I eat here once a week. Spartan Panini is my favorite but everything I have had so far is good. They now have a location at Schillengers and Cottage hill so us West Mobilers do not have to go all the way downtown. The people are very nice and even hooked me up with some free sides when I bought for a lot for my family.

Amazing! I wish I worked in downtown Mobile so that I could get a sandwich here on the regular. I had the Greek grilled cheese, which I've been dying to recreate at home. Quick, abundant choices, fresh and tasty. Limited seating but great for takeout. Bottled sodas and iced teas.

Please take this review with a grain of salt... I was extremely intoxicated after a wedding and it was one of the only places that was open at 1 AM. We wanted McD's big mac, chicken nuggets, and fries but it was not in walking distance. so after much wandering, we stumbled on this place! and given my state of being, the cheese pizza tasted like the BEST thing that i ever ate! it's open til 4 AM which is a plus. the other folks i was with had the gyros and they said they were great. Good, cheap, fast, drunk food open til 4 AM. Woohoo!

  • Eric S.

This is a pretty good place to grab lunch, though I was expecting something a lot better considering the reviews on Yelp. It took a good 15 minutes or so for me to get my food after ordering, and they put onions in my salad even though I asked for none. Otherwise the food was pretty good. I didn't see anything with falafel on their menu which is surprising for a Mediterranean place, but maybe I just didn't see it.

    (3)
  • Kim M.

I think their Lamb and Beef Gyro is my favorite sandwich in town. I savor every bite. Also, the orzo is the food of gods. I love this place.

    (5)
  • Tyger K.

Open lunch and late night. Awesome orzo pasta, Chicken Samurai is my favorite. Haven't had a bad meal. If you want some Munchies after being at the bars, this is the best food you can have.

  • Erika N.

I wish I lived near Mobile to give this place another shot. I grabbed dinner there my one night in the city, ordering their hummus and Greek salad. I was disappointed in their hummus (I prefer it creamier, less pasty) and their pita was way too salty. I had to brush the seasoning off to eat it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the opportunity to eat at a local Mobile restaurant. I know they get good ratings on Yelp and were voted 2010 Best Ethnic Restaurant in Mobile, so hopefully one day I'll be back to Mobile to give them another try.

    (2)
  • Tina M.

Delicious. The first time I had the Samurai Chicken and it was amazing. That black pepper wasabi hurt so good! The second time I had the falafel burger. Pretty tasty, but I prefer saucy messy sandwiches. I recommend this place to all my friends who say good eats in Mobile are few and far between. Which they are, but this place is a good one.

    (4)
  • Chordeiles M.

Greek Grilled Cheese is delicious. The familiar comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich - toasty crispy on outside, warm cheesy goodness on inside - but with a twist. The orzo is the standout side dish. We also enjoy their falafel on pita. Recommended for a quick inexpensive bite to eat downtown.

    (4)
  • Brea G.

Stayed in Mobile on Friday night and picked this place to eat based on yelp. NOT disappointed. Kind of a hole in the wall dive but the portabello gyro was *awesome. If I lived there I'd probably be at this place at least a couple times a week.

    (5)
  • Zylo L.

  • Rosie G.

    (5)

Yelp you're so helpful. This place was amazing. The food was prepared in a clean environment, on the spot. The gyros were tasty, veggies fresh, pita soft and warm. Delicious! Too bad we're not from the area, but would definitely recommend for a quick stop.

Boom! Incredible flavor and freshness. This is the kind of food that creates addictions. Try the entire menu!

Spectacular place to stop when driving through the city on I-10. Lives up to all its awards. Huge side items for .99 cents are one of the best food values I've seen in sometime.

This place is my favorite for a sandwich in downtown. The food is fantastic and the people who work there are awesome.

Highly recommended!

great, flavorful, spicy food. Nice to see that they had while wheat wraps. Side salad was pretty plain and not very fresh - but I came for the wrap, not the sides. Outdoor seating is a plus.

I have had the Salads and a couple of different Sandwiches, all were excellent.

    (5)

Fun local atmosphere. I had the gyro along with tzatziki dip, which comes with pita bread. Everything was delicious and decently priced. Will definitely be coming back and trying other menu items.

I had the chicken funghi and spinach tomato orzo, and it was amazing! The redneck gyro is delicious, too!

Food was okay. Restaurant was the dirtiest eating/dining area I've seen in a non 3rd world country. Scary. I was famished, so I stayed and ate. But it was scary.

  • Remy O.

Small shop with the best gyros in town. Every time I am in the downtown area I swing buy and either have dinner or bring it home for a late snack. Red Rooster is good alternative if you dont like the traditional gyro.

Pleasantly surprised, this unassuming place has great food. The pita is really good, the meat is really good, tasty stuff!

  • J L.

Excellent food. Not very kid friendly, but they have pita pizzas and a chicken grilled cheese. Not the most polite/engaged customer service. Not a ton of room for sitting and eating. Excellent food and a must do.

  • Denis N.

Great tasting food! "The Mixed Grill" sandwich is the best!! Very continent location. And open till 3am. Definitely give it a try!! Only con is it's a little pricey. But the food is great.

  • Matt A.

Great food!

A gyro..with melted cheese! The Mixed-Up Grill sandwich was delicious with both chicken and beef/lamb. The onion marmalade was the perfect sweet touch. So yummy!

Awesome!

And always eat where locals eat. scott

Just had lunch there based on all the Yelp reviews I read. 8 of us went for lunch. Excellent meal. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend if in Mobile (Downtown) well worth it.

Our family of 4 all enjoyed what we got. It's small and if they were busy you might not be able to sit inside, but if the weather is nice they have outside seating and the scenery is bomb!! I would recommend this to friends traveling through

We ordered 4 panini-style flat bread sandwiches: The spartan The italian The mixed grill The chicken funghi We shared them. All were awesome! I was a bit skeptical about the size but me, my wife, and two boys got full with some to spare.

Nothing too original to say about how great this place is. We had the Redneck Gyro and the Mixed Grill plus the hummus and baklava for dessert. Loved it all plus enjoyed the outdoor seating with the dogs!

Gyro tasted pretty good. Tried Orzo pasta as a side. Its a rice like shaped pasta with cilantro and cheese mixed in different. But alright.

I work downtown and eat here once a week or so. It's great, I've not had anything I didn't like. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is that it needs more seating!

We stopped off here on a road trip to Destin. Zipped in to get a quick bite. It was delicious and a great vibe. Really casual and small place but cool. Great lunch spot.

  • Philip L.

I LOVE this place! The food is delicious and consistent. The staff is patient and friendly. The ordering process can get pretty hectic when they're busy due to the layout of the restaurant. Please do yourself a favor and visit this place when you're in town!

Price, flavor, portioning and speed. All the best things you could want from a lunch place. You must try the Orzo pasta; everything I've had there is delicious and my entire office is hooked on the place now. My only negative is that they close at 2:30, I wish they were open for dinner on my way home!

The best lamb/beef gyro I have ever had! Super fresh with house made tezeiki. The tomato orzo is a really good side.

Mediterranean Sandwich Co is awesome. I have been to both locations, in Mobile and Daphne. The chicken swarma is my favorite with the delicious taziki sauce. There is a variety of flavors that will please any taste.

I have had hummus literally all over the US, worked in Greek restaurants, and I can tell you this was the BEST hummus, bar none, I have ever had. Sandwiches were good too. :) But the hummus is reason enough to come here.

Enjoy!

Bye bye!

Excellent food and friendly service. Had the lamb gyro and some rice dish. I got there at 11am and only one table was occupied. I imagine it could get loud and crowded around noon. I don't get downtown often but when I do, I'm coming back here.

Woohoo!
