Scale 0 to 5 Atmosphere: 1.3 - Found it was pretty awkward. Had two doorways when you walk in that both lead to different areas (one area primarily a bar, the other is primarily the restaurant, but neither are labeled and there was no hostess. The bathrooms (at least the Mens) was in a bit of disrepair. The oddest thing was the booth seats themselves were huge. I am a big guy and they swallowed me, but the tables were small and not even large enough to match the length of the seat. There was a pretty nice little patio area though. Beer: 2.3 - Had decent prices on the beer, but selection was run of the mill. Had all the standards, which I could careless for. They did have a couple of drinkables in Sam Adams Boston Lager and Yuengling. But being effectively about three minutes from Blue Pants Brewery and not having it seems to be missing out on a chance to capitalize on Madisons very own brewery. Food: 4.0 - They actually brought it here. I ordered their version of the cheesesteak with homemade chips. The steak was tender, perhaps a touch dry, but not bad. The onions and peppers had great flavor, the bread was pretty decent and the queso that they gave me to pour on it was wonderful. The homemade chips are the best I have ever had. That is no easy task to accomplish as anyone who knows me, knows I am very picky about my homemade chips. Service: 1.0 - I really felt for the poor girl who was taking our order, but her service was terrible. As mentioned, there was no server to begin with. We seated ourselves in a dining room with few customers. After a good 10 minutes we had to go find the waitress, whom was standing at the kitchen in a trance. To her credit, she apologized and stated she had something on her mind, but this trend did not stop. She got our drink order, brought our drinks and then we requested some time to look over the menu (by rule, generally 3 to 5 minutes) after about 12 minutes she finally returned. Overall : 2 out of 5. If the food had not been good, I would suggest wiping this place off the face of the earth. They have a long way to go to be a place I would ever really suggest to anyone. But they at least have the food thing down pat.

This place has really become a favorite local bar of mine. They have a good menu with your typical draught beer selection, but the great service is what gives it a 5 star rating on my list.

Service was pretty fast. We ate in the bar as the dining room was empty and we were afraid we would be forgotten. The boneless wings were fantastic and the chili spicy. The buffalo chicken sandwich needed a little more medium sauce but the queso cheese on it really made it taste great.

Great wings!! If you eat wings give this place a try. Tuesdays are .50 cent wing day. The frys are always fresh and great as well.

Chicken wings taste fresh and are damn good......and .99 draft beers, can't go wrong......just don't expect too much....service is generally slow.......a few people have been over served there.....they need to watch that for their own liabilities.

I give 'em a three and a half. They're a little slow, but it's a comfortable place if you're not in a hurry. Food is cooked to order. Maybe bring some reading or paperwork. Consider tipping the waitresses well. I don't think they get much salary. If you are wanting to get on back to work, ask that they bring you your check with the meal. You won't want to wait for change either, so try to bring enough small bills that she can "keep the change," or be ready to pay your bill the second you receive it. The place is a bit divey, but some of us like it. My wife, however, doesn't care much for this place. They usually have comment cards available in the lobby. Pick one up on your way in. The owner reads them, and it helps them meet customer expectations.

Empty during lunch and still had very slow service. I ordered a salad and it was probably not the best decision I've ever made (i got a small cobb and for 8 dollars or so you would expect something much more). I may give them another chance but it won't be any time soon.

Not sure why I didn't write a review for Bison but I love this place. The place may appear a little rustic but the food is really good. I've been there about 5 times and I'm never disappointed. Only thing I don't like is that the got rid of their Spinach and Artichoke dip.....

The wings are great. The bar is smoky. But the reason I won't be returning is a roach running on top of the bar. I mentioned it to the waiter and he shrugged his shoulder like it is no big deal around this joint. Maybe for him, but I won't be returning.

Two stars only for the server and taste of food was pretty good.. BUT the food came out too slow (obviously the cook), 25 minutes for some tilapia to come out and there was barely anybody in the restaurant, Monday afternoon... Not what I would expect for the lunchtime service when everybody is in a hurry, cept for the cooks of course... I may try this place again, but definitely not during lunch time...

My boyfriend and I just moved to Huntsville from Charleston sc and while out running errands we decided to stop into 'bisons' for lunch. The main reason we stopped was because of the name. We assumed they'd have bison burgers on the menu and my boyfriend was excited about that idea. We were wrong. No bison anywhere on the menu. Odd to name a restaurant 'bisons' and not serve bison. Anyway, we sat and luckily there was a menu at the table we chose. The waitress came up immediately and asked what we wanted to drink and if we knew what we wanted to order. We had literally just sat down. I was still trying to get comfortable. I still didn't have a menu and we had never been there. Give us some time! Welcome us to the place! No one ever brought another menu so I stole one from another table. A different waitress came to take our order. I ordered a burger done medium. It came out over well done, I'm not the kind of person to send food back, but even if I was our server never came back to check on us until she was ready to bring our bill, that's when she saw our empty glasses. No refills the entire lunch. The burger was good even though it was charred. The fries were ok but could have used a little more time in the fryer. My bf had chicken tenders which later he decided KFC's were better. And he wasn't really impressed with the honey mustard. Neither was I. It just seems to be ground mustard. The coleslaw was gross and super mayonnaisey. My bf has never had coleslaw before. I told him that wasn't a good first impression and to try again somewhere else. All in all bisons seems to be an example of a 'before' on 'restaurant impossible' with its tattered booths, confusing name, less than average service, lack of menus, average food and patchwork menus (instead of printing new menus they have just put little pieces of paper over things they no longer have) I've worked in restaurants for about 17 years now so I speak from experience when I say that management needs to come in and liven that place up, energize the servers and retrain them on how to interact with customers! Being new the area i doubt we will be back to bisons since there are so many other places to try and our experience at bisons was forgettable, unlike our first restaurant experience in Huntsville at Rosie's! We went there once for dinner and it was so amazing we went back the next day for lunch. We love finding new reliable places to eat so it's unfortunate that bisons was such a let down.

Very good food and great service!! My son loves it. I love it because of the western decor! I sit in a different booth to read about different cowboys. Wings are good, not the best but good enough to eat and enjoy. Fries are great and the grilled cheese looks awesome. I just wish we could have a saloon fight in here I would than give it 5 stars.

Everything is excellent. Wonderful wings & steak. Make sure you have their corn on the cob! Food comes out quickly and if you are a smoker you can sit in the bar area and smoke! Even the service is great!

Good wings, kind of quiet in the bar area but it is Monday night. Inside is a little dates but service was good. Some local retirees were hanging out, poking at each other and talking about sports. Manager did come by and asked if everything was OK. I like that...show interest in making sure customers are satisfied and will hopefully return. I would go back. Give it a try!

Bison's is a *bar* and grill. Emphasis on BAR. It's not a Gastropub. For bar food, it's good food. It's been around for quite some time. It's name is Bison's, however, that would not lead me to anticipate a nice bison burger. Previously, it was known as "Buffalo's," and I never expected them to serve buffalo. It has 2 entrances, the front entrance and one on the east side, off of the deck, that leads directly to the bar area. I don't think they employ a hostess, and I always sit in the bar area, so I don't know how the seating works if you choose to sit in the dining area. Ask someone. They just rolled out a new menu, last week, I believe. Seems like it includes several new shrimp dishes and some pastas, and it seemed a bit pricier, but still really reasonable by today's standards. They have Brainblast trivia on Wednesdays at 7 PM. Their wings are good. Their chicken sandwich (comes baked, with cheese and bacon) + fries and pickle is good. Smoking is allowed, at least in the bar area, I don't know about the dining area. They do have ceiling fans that keep the air circulating somewhat and the door opens frequently. The bar area is "super loud" meaning, difficult to hear your partner when seated next to each other loud. They erect a tent near the deck/patio area and have live music on the patio when the weather is nice. If you are fortunate enough to get "Buffy" as you server, you will not be sorry. She has an amazing memory, will never leave your glass unfilled, and is delightful. If you want a Gastropub experience, go to Below the Radar. If you want better-than-average bar food, which recently expanded into more varied options, and sports on various TVs, then go to Bisons. Don't ask for a bison burger, I'm pretty sure they don't offer one.

If I was just grading wings, this place would be a 5. Hot but not annoyingly so. Not breaded. Never been upset with the wings. We come here a lot, so service for us is good, but it can be spotty at times as they don't always have a ton of servers on the floor. Bar allows smoking like a lot of Alabama places, so be aware that you will smell like Bisons bar until your next shower. This fact is why I don't give it higher stars, I generally won't return to a place that I will have to shower after visiting, but they have a porch with limited seating (and no smell) and great wings. Everyone is friendly, we keep coming back. Ask for Buffy or April, they take good care of their customers.

This is a pretty good simple neighborhood bar. They have great wings - meaty, moist, and not greasy. Much much better than buffalo wild wings, but if you like spicy wings, you'll need to order the hot wings - mediums aren't particularly hot.. Fries are crispy., and the beer is cheap. I've had the veggie beef soup here too, and it was clearly homemade with large chucks of meat and recognizable veggies. Service is very friendly, but because the non-smoking area is separate from the bar and 90% of their business is in the bar, there usually isn't anyone in the dining area to give you service or at the front to seat you. If you smoke or go to thebar, you won't have any problems.

They have good food and good prices. I wouldn't say great; however, the prices are low, so it's a good match. Lunch is especially good with deals like a $5.99 chicken finger basket that will fill you up.

Service is absolutely terrible. No desire from the waiting staff to earn a tip. Wings are decent, but not worth the long wait times. Ate lunch once and for a virtually empty restaurant, it took over 45 minutes to receive my food. I had to have it boxed up to take back to work with me due to loss of time.
