It's been several months since this visit, but I enjoyed Green Acres Cafe and I can recommend it to anyone looking for down-home goodness. The wings and fish are both good.

I go here for the fried chicken wings and they are great! The fish and pork chops are great as well, must stop by if you are close.

Let me start off by saying that my one experience here was not what I expected. I was told they have the best wings in town. So of course I'm thinking of saucy, crunchy chicken wings from a sports bar. I say this brief description about wings as if I don't have a fiery love affair with them. You can't beat a great chicken wing... and I'll say it: I love you chicken wings. There, I said it for the world to see. Before I get too much into the wing thing, this helps explain why I was a little thrown off. These wings are more like fried chicken. Not even like a regular naked wing dropped in the fryer. Like breaded/battered friend chicken you get at a meat and three. Which fried chicken like that is something else I love... I mean it is freaking delicious. Hot, crispy, perfectly cooked fried chicken... sorry another tangent. ANYWAY, so if I were in a fried chicken mood, I would have been more on board with what I got. But I was in a WING mood. So after I got over my slight disappointment, I truly enjoyed these wings. They were moist and flavored perfectly. Get them salt and peppered for sure. But from now on, I will know what I'm in for and I WILL be back. More than likely to try the livers and gizzards.... did I mention that I love those too?!?

Americana at it's finest..growing up when thought of a roadside cafe this was what you imagined. I went here on the recommendation of the hotel staff and as I pulled into the parking lot I spotted a telltale sign that a restaurant is the real deal.....2 parked tractor-trailers. Green Acres is small, maybe 6 or 7 tables but those tables are well worn from folks sitting down eating some amazing food. The menu simple fried wings, livers & gizzards with some catfish & whitefish thrown in for good measure...and don't forget the pork chops. I ordered 9 hot wings (how I decided to order 9 and not 10 wings, I'll never know) with fries and 2 slices of white bread. My order was placed in a good old fashioned brown paper bag with the grease already bleeding through.....by the time I got to the hotel my rental was filled with the hot and spicy scent of wings.....good luck fumigating this car Hertz. These are whole wings, not flats and drums, and they were so juicy that the bones pulled right out of them. The taste? I would put them up there with the best of the best. This place isn't fancy and it doesn't need to be.....I'm sure if it was it would detract from the taste.

Call it a 'Mom and Pop' or a 'Hole in the Wall' or whatever. This little joint is amazing. Be prepared to have something fried and it will be delicious! Had the Tilapia sandwich, potato salad and fried green tomatoes. Very tasty fish with relish tarter sauce on white bread sandwich, lettuce and tomato goodness. Skipped dessert. That may have been a mistake. Go. A local told me to get the Salt n Pepper wings...said they are the best around. Liked what I got though, and you will too!

I think I need to give this tiny cafe 5 stars. You go here to get fried food. Very delicious and very good fried food. I had the best fried green tomatoes that I have ever had. The fried onion rings were very good also. My husband had the catfish fillet and he ate every bit. We have not tried the wings, livers or gizzards yet. Will have to go back.
