The Baskits is hands-down the best chicken finger joint in Birmingham...chains (Zaxby's, Guthrie's, etc) included. The fingers are not over breaded and are very well seasoned. Although the homemade dipping sauce is great, these fingers don't need much because they are so flavorful. The french fries are average (unless you upgrade to sweet potato fries), but the real winner for a side dish is the salad. Their homemade Greek dressing in by far the best thing on the menu. I could drink that stuff! If you haven't been to The Baskits you should definitely give it a try. You won't regret it.

So after reading an article on al.com recently about the restaurant, and being a fan of chicken fingers, my wife and I decided to make a special trip across the city to visit The Baskits. After all, their fingers ranked 1st in the city. Well, I gotta be honest - we weren't completely blown away with them. Don't get me wrong - they're tasty; but 1st place - not so much. The fingers are seasoned themselves, and with sauce taste great (I'm a BBQ-sauce-only man), but I honestly think Guthries has much better fingers, occasional salt-lick-tribute and all. A typical chicken finger basket comes with fries and garlic toast, and each added to the enjoyment of the meal; but again, not enough to push the restaurant to a top position in the fingers category I'm afraid. (My wife thought her meal was a salute to cooking oil, so I'm being pretty nice...heh) I will say, though, that the personnel couldn't be more friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere is very clean and welcoming. I can't remember the last time I was asked so many times "how's the food", "everything ok?" at a fast-food establishment. That attitude alone will prevent me from hesitating to visit again if ever in the area. Unfortunately, since the round-peg food didn't really fit into my square-peg appetite, I probably won't be making it a point to trek across town again just for a taste. But, the restaurant is good enough for you to give it a try yourself. Maybe I'm insane... :)

I went for dinner and got the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were very good- the best I've had in Birmingham. The sauce was good too. The fries were fairly normal. The food was served fairly quickly (5 minutes or so) and cost about $7 IIRC. I didn't get a drink. I would go here if you love chicken tenders and want to support a local business. I'll go back, but I wouldn't go out of your way to come here over Zaxby's.

I'll try to make this short....everything the above reviewer stated was true...he left out the CRAZY prices...this place is ridiculously OVER priced! I paid over $9 bucks for a chicken philly and fries NO drink included!! On the other hand the staff is really friendly and accommodating, but those prices no bueno! I can go next door to purple onion and come out cheaper for better quality of food. I suggest the owner of this establishment reconsider those prices and he might see an increase in business

Great little stop for those that enjoy some nicely seasoned chicken tenders (although that is not all they sell). Did a quick drive through for their "best tenders in town" and I can't say I'm disappointed. It was magical experience just when I thought I had eaten enough varieties of chicken tenders to not be surprised anymore. Would recommend to anyone looking for a tasty snack, the keekeepoo punch is another interesting but weird addition that I would recommend.

Serves the same basic menu as a dozen other restaurants in the vicinity. Unimaginative chicken fingers, soggy and flacid sweet potato fries. I dont know how places like this stay in business. Its basically overpriced fast food.

Purty good! LOL! After being stranded overnight..I'm not from Bham so i can't confirm if they have the best chik tenders in town but they're darn good as well as the sauce. I had my tenders with sweet potato fries & everything was cooked & seasoned just right! Service was courteous & very prompt. Only thing i didn't like was the 50 cent charge for a cup. Nice well kept interior with multiple TVs & Bama decor. My kinda place. Roll Tide Roll!

Had the grilled greek chicken salad via our office's meal delivery program. It was a very good salad, dressing was different for Greek dressing but in a good way. Good portion of grilled chicken and feta, and they got my order correct--no olives! I'll have to visit the restaurant to try their staple menu item, fried chicken fingers, and see if they earn the bump to 4 stars.

Ok so i've been back to The Baskits and now I can give a more in depth review...here it goes. The food is very good the burgers are indeed top notch..the philly cheesesteak tha bomb...and you have to try the white chocolate bread pudding..omg yeah it's really good. As far as the chicken fingers they are good very meaty but over hyped...ya dig so with that being said the only cons are the combos dont come with drinks unless you get the burger combo they have going on right now and that combo is worth every penny damn good burger but the fries are a big greasy no no...other than that The Baskits is good eats.

Baskits hovers around 3.5-4 stars. I always feel good supporting a local store, esp. since the food is more or less synonymous with what you get at Zaxby's. I rather go here. Chicken fingers are good (slightly greasy). They do season the chicken fingers well. I like their homemade dipping sauce. Fries is very greasy. What really sells me to this place is the Grilled Chicken Salad. They serve romaine lettuce instead of iceberg, which is a bonus for me. It's very tasty and cheaper than the similar salad (Zax salad is just iceberg lettuce) that I order at Zaxby's.

I found this restaurant reviewed in a B'ham News reporters blog. He wrote a review of restaurants with the best chicken fingers !?!? WTF? So am I to take it there is a such thing as chicken finger nuance? So, out of curiousity/doubt that such a thing as a "good" chicken finger exists, I went to the Basket and ordered some. Served with excellent fries (almost--but not quite--Milo'ish) and Texas toast, the marinated, fresh chicken breast had exceedingly little in common with a frozen chicken finger. I love restaurants where the owner is in charge. The attention to detail shows itself in that what is usually a dish no one would notice becomes better than the sum of its parts. He must be doing something right, as The Basket is about to move a few hundred feet down Greensprings into a building constructed just for them. I will be going back to see if they can do the same for other standards as they've done for the lowly chicken finger.
